Excitement building ahead of three huge games with Slovakia, England

and Russia on the big stage in France. First, the dress rehearsals.

Church the hero. Honours even between Northern Ireland and Wales.

It was going to be a tough game for us. There's a lot of positives there

for us. Tonight, one last chance for Wales' fringe players to impress in

the red shirt before Chris Coleman names his 23 man squad. Could be one

or two places up for grabs. They will know that, so they will want to

be in the best form they can be an playing well. If there is an injury,

God forbid, and I make a change, they want to be at the top of their

game. Wales have travelled for Eastern Europe for a tricky tie

against Ukraine, who've qualified for France themselves with a

play-off win against Slovenia. Ukraine will play differently to

Northern Ireland. These are always tests when you go somewhere like the

Ukraine, because they will send... They will smother bit of fear on you

if you've got it, and they will bully you if you let them. You learn

more from games like this than when you are playing at home in the

sunshine, 4 all 5-0 up. Wales arrived in Kiev on Sunday for their

first game against Ukraine since 2001, when they met in two World Cup

qualifiers. Ukraine currently 27 -- 27th in the world rankings, ten

places below Wales. Chris Coleman relishing a tough test this evening.

It is Ukraine against Wales, live from the Olympic Stadium in the

capital Kiev. Good evening and a very warm welcome

to Match of the Day Wales. It is the penultimate warm up game before the

serious begins in France on June the 11th. Welcome to our guests Kit

Symons and John Hartson. Let's get straight to this. You played against

Ukraine in both of those games in 2001, and scored in Cardiff. Happy

days. I can remember this goal, and a certain Mr Shevchenko got the

equaliser. Gary Speed, God rest his soul, helps it on. I get myself

between two defenders. I had a bit more impact back then. Not a lot

more! I enjoyed that one. It was a score draw a night. Nice to see a

bit of vintage hearts score draw a night. Nice to see a

They've got good players and it will be a stern test for the Welsh boys

tonight. Kit, you were with us on Thursday for the Northern Ireland

game. A much tougher test. The kind of test Wales will face against

Slovakia or Russia. Northern Ireland was a difficult proposition

for Simon Church tonight upfront. How do you assess the Welsh attack.

They are different attacks. We saw Vokes play on Thursday night. He he

is trying to get across his man. He wins a corner here. He doesn't get

the decision. The ref gave a goal kick. He is a big, strong physical

presence in the box. A bit on Mackie there with the header. Church comes

on with 15 minutes to go and hits its straight in there. He will give

different options. He will look to run in behind and stretched

defenders. He does very well. He is in there again, looking to run

behind. That is a stone wall. He shows really good nerve. Last minute

of the game, comes on as a sub. I believe both strikers will go to

France with Chris, it is just a case of who starts. Vokes started the

other night. Church starts tonight. It just depends on who Chris goes

with. Kit, talk to us about the defence. It is a booze that when

Davies is back tonight. Wales back to a familiar back five. -- it is a

boost. It is a more familiar back half. Ashley Williams was

impressive. James got the first couple of headers there. Very much

on his front foot, which is something Chris works on a lot in

training. The team defending was very important, so when we won it,

we didn't just hoof it. We looked to get hold of a midfielder. Vaughan on

this occasion, they look to play it out where possible. This is

something they work a lot on in training. They dealt with the

situation very well. A last chance for Chris Coleman to take a look at

certain players back in Chievo. Let's hear from him. Let's hear from

the man himself, Chris. What are you hoping to get out of this evening's

game. It will be a tough game for us. It's a fantastic stadium. The

Ukrainians will be aggressive. They will be looking to win the game, so

it's a tough one for us. We will probably be different to what we

were the other night in terms of our formation and personnel, that

whoever it is will be ready when the whistle-blowers. How much of a

bearing will this match have on the final 23 of yours? I know most of

our players, so I am not going to learn more about them. One or two of

the guys are getting more caps and getting experience. It's not just

about that. It's about training and interacting with the more

experienced members of the squad. I have not been disappointed at all.

Tonight is another opportunity to get used to the International setup.

It is not do or die for anyone. It's a chance to get a bit more

experienced in a hostile atmosphere against a tough team. International

football, at the top level, it is about handling the occasion. We are

looking forward to it. Thank you. Chris Coleman says it isn't do or

die, but it is the last chance to see them in the red shirt for Wales.

So it is important. They want to play well. Chris has just said he

basically knows 20 or 21 of that 23 man squad. Maybe one or two might

give him different ideas. They might put a little something in his mind.

I see a really difficult game tonight. Credit to the manager for

taking this game on soap close to win the tournament starts. Only one

more game, Sweden in early June, before we play Slovakia in Bordeaux.

A very difficult one tonight. They've got a great record. Six

changes for Wales. If we were. I would fancy us a lot more, but with

all the changes and one or two young ones in there, I think we will do

very well to get anything tonight. Without Gareth Bale and Aaron

Ramsey, Wales look a bit more ordinary. We need someone to step up

and show that without those guys we can still beat sides like Slovakia,

Ukraine and Russia. Those you mention will be a huge loss. It will

be a tough opposition for us tonight. Chris will make changes in

the last 15 or 20 minutes. If we are still in the game and level at that

stage, it will be a pleasing result for us. You mentioned how Ukraine

did in qualifying. They only conceded four goals. That is a

challenge for Wales, how to break down the Ukrainian defence. We know

church likes to run in behind. He will give the Welsh players the

option. We have the experience of Allen in there, alongside Huws. It

is a very difficult challenge for the Welsh boys. One final auditions

for certain players before Chris Coleman names his squad for France.

Thank you and welcome to the Olympic Stadium, right in the heart of the

Ukraine capital Kiev. It is a lovely city, full of gardens and trees.

Tonight, it's all about the business with the focus well on France in the

summer. You can see some 400 or so Welsh fans have come to support

Chris Coleman and his men in the penultimate warm up game before the

Euros. The last chance to make an impression on Chris Coleman in a

Welsh shirt for these players. As we stand for the national anthems.

So, both anthems well-received, and Chris Coleman made six changes, with

Ben Davis and Neil Taylor, three centre-backs and wingbacks, Jonny

Williams, Joe Allen and Simon Church are rewarded with starts at their

replacement contributions against the Irish. Ukraine make three

changes from the team which beat Cyprus on Thursday. Senior

goalkeeper Pyatov turns, and Khacheridi is in the heart of the

defence. And much is expected of Kovalenko Shakhtar. He is seen as a

really important midfield player in the making, his first start this

evening. The referee is from the Netherlands, as Ashley Williams and

Rotan exchange banners for the toss of the coin, and alongside me is

former Wales striker Euan Roberts. It is a cavernous stadium, with

about 20,000 here in a 70,000 capacity. They have struggled to get

the fans in, there are only 32,000 here for their home leg. It is a

familiar looking back five Chris Coleman. You would expect Ben Davies

and Neil Taylor to start, and a big night Huws. He impressed me when he

came on against Holland, he hasn't played too much since then. Tom

Lawrence needs a big performance tonight, I thought he was

disappointing against Northern Ireland on Thursday. Simon Church,

starting again, he came on, made an impact, won the penalty, very coolly

scored the penalty. The movement of Church and Lawrence, they could

cause Ukraine problems tonight. Sheik of the hands between Chris,

and Mikhail Fomenko. It is Wales in charcoals and green to kick-off.

A very impressive stadium indeed, used for the 2012 Euro final. So,

Wales start not exactly last chance saloon, but no better chance for

these players to make an impression to get on that plane to France. A

really tough night in prospect. Chester may be forced to play that,

and he does. He looked confident against Northern Ireland. Captain

Williams on the ball, looks when his Swansea team-mate, Neil Taylor. He

looked confident on Thursday night, apart from that one lapse of

concentration that letting Northern Ireland's goal. Williams again,

Church has immediately gone up front, and Williams has dropped in

behind him, as Joe Allen tries to win the ball back. Williams should

deal with that, and does. Gunter, 66th cap for him tonight, level with

Brian Flynn. And Davis seizes on a loose pass.

Just to get Wales going forward. And he has licensed to do that, Ben

Davies. We know that Neil Taylor is the wing-back on this right-hand

side, but Ben Davies won the past, the ball, got himself forward, just

a lack of something on that pass, but he has got bad. You are allowed

to do that when you are playing with three central defenders, and the

boys know their roles in this formation, it is Chris's favoured

formation. You could understand him trying something different against

Northern Ireland on Thursday night. He has got to look at options. That

was a poor ball, lack of concentration on that pass. I think

tonight will probably suit them better because you would expect

Ukraine at home to have more possession, and we find it hard to

break teams down, we hit them better on the counterattack. Although we

did win the game, it took us a while to get that opening goal. Huws find

his captain, Williams. A big night Huws tonight. His sixth cap, but

only his second start. He is a goal threat from midfield, he is over six

feet tall, he makes good runs into the penalty box you get himself

forward. The ball is picked up by Stepanenko. He scored the winner

against Cyprus in Odessa where they also play their home games, the

Ukraine. They have qualified and will be in Northern Ireland's group

at the Euros, along with Germany and Poland. Looking at Joe Allen and MA

Hughes, -- Huws, they will have to keep an eye on both full-backs,

Shevchuk and Fedetskiy. They will get caught upfield at times, so it

is important that they keep their discipline there, and when they keep

their -- CV Ukrainian full-backs bobbing forward, they gave their

colleagues a bit of cover. On the ball there was Yarmolenko. A busy

midfield player. 22 goals for him at international level, he plays in the

midfield, and he is so busy, they call him the man with two hearts.

Very industrious. Six goals in the qualifying campaign. A very

important player for them. He will need to be kept an eye on. Chester

looking for Jonny Williams, the ball back by Kucher. He plays his

football at Shakhtar. Five of the players here for Ukraine are at

Shakhtar Donetsk. Taylor is robbed, high up the

Shakhtar Donetsk. Taylor is robbed, it up. Just a lack of awareness by

Neil Taylor, didn't know around him. Didn't take the picture

before he received the around him. Didn't take the picture

Attempts to take the quick free kick, and the referee won't like

They are seeing plenty of early Kucher. 49th cap for him tonight.

They are seeing plenty of early possession. Plenty of Welsh bodies

behind that ball, though, isn't fair? Not too many gaps for the

Ukrainians to play the ball into. Fedetskiy is forward but he is not

going to get that, and Taylor will take the throw-in.

Maybe they have spotted the awareness of Huws, who has taken

that free kick quickly. There is a pass on, Simon Church has done well

to the right of him. Allan steps in to win the ball, but this is Huws

again. He is on loan at Huddersfield from Wigan. And he has space, and

Davies joins him. This is where Wales had trouble

against Northern Ireland, they had plenty of the ball in this area.

Plenty of possession, but just a lack of cutting edge in the final

third, wasn't there? We start this game in similar fashion, we look

comfortable, we are good at keeping the ball, we are keeping the ball

well, we just can't get it up towards Simon Church, can't get any

service up to him so that he can get hold of it. Presented to Yarmolenko,

but Taylor wins it back. We are winning the ball nice and early.

Good industry and commitment shown by the Wales players, and why

wouldn't they? Just 74 days to the start of the Euros, 75 days to

Wales's first game in Bordeaux against Slovakia. It is Williams and

Taylor trying to work it down the left side, and they win the game's

first corner. They did well down the left-hand side. Jonny Williams who

has been lively in this opening period comes across to the left-hand

side, nice little one-two with Neil Taylor who knows he has a licence to

go forward. Shevchenko on the bench for Ukraine, Andre chav --

Shevchenko. As Joe Allen takes this corner, he has hit it long. Williams

will pick up the second ball. Gunter.

He makes himself available again, and Ashley Williams has stayed

forward. Emyr Huws just beaten to that, and

again, Joe Allen is there. A little nudge on Jonny Williams, and the

Wales fans boo that in the corner. A little handshake from Shevchuk.

And Davies with the easy header back to Hennesey. So far, it has been

comfortable. We have had have more of the ball, and kept it well.

Ukraine haven't been tested. Good early signs for Wales, looking

comfortable with the ball. I say that, and we give it away sloppily.

Curse of the commentator. A bit of afters on Victor Kovalenko. Made his

debut in Cyprus, highly respected. Place the Shakhtar Donetsk. Not the

best ball from Williams. Wales will have to defend almost for the first

time. Rotan, the skipper, is a stud over this. -- stood over this. He

has plenty of blue shirts to aim for on the edge of the penalty area.

Rotan of Dnipro. Khacheridi is up from the back, Fedetskiy, too. All

hands to the pump for Wales. And that was rather tame. Asking too

much of the players that had made their way up into the Welsh penalty

box, Rotan. They were well marshalled, to be fair, by the Welsh

boys. A little nudge by Ben Davies, Neil Taylor went tumbling as well.

That is a good ball by Emyr Huws. They will get plenty of ball, Gunter

and Taylor, both Ukrainian full-backs are tucking in slightly

too much, typical centre halves, being lazy, want a bit more cover,

so dragging those two further towards them, that means there is

plenty of room down both wings for both Welsh wingbacks tonight. Gunter

forward again, a good all in, chance for Lawrence, and just over the bar.

In fact, it is turned over, so Tom Lawrence found a good space in the

penalty area then. Could he have taken it on the first time of

asking? He has a lovely first touch, was it there to be hit then? He

dwells on it a little bit. He just wanted to make the angle a little

better, didn't he? Good saved by the goalkeeper, but it all comes from

that good run by Chris Gunter down the left-hand side. Williams goes

up, the goalkeeper punches it away, and the referee doesn't like what he

has seen in the box. He is not a natural goal-scorer, still hasn't

scored for Cardiff, he only scored two on loan while Blackburn. He gets

himself in good positions. Pyatov, 31 years old, the second cap tonight

to him, he is their number one goalkeeper. Denys Boyko played

against Cyprus, and Shevchenko, I don't think he is any relation,

their third keeper. From whatever member of this goalkeeper in the

European Championships, he is prone to a mistake, likes a blunder, so he

needs to be tested. He has been tested more than Wayne Hennessey so

far. Riz Coleman will be pretty content with what he has seen in the

opening 13 and a half minutes. Already there is an improvement in

the final third. We were ever so lethargic in that final third

against Northern Ireland, not enough movement, didn't pass the ball

caught enough, and hence in the performance against Northern

Ireland, the chances that we didn't create on Thursday night, there is

already better movement, that are passing, quick passing. Jonny

Williams just got ahead of the ball there from Joe Allen, and a hit. Let

Taylor and Davies deal with that. Very well played. Had to be. As

Garmash came in. Denys Garmash plays here for Dinamo Kiev. Ukraine were

known for their defensive work in the qualifiers. They actually

qualified from a group won by Spain, and also involved Slovakia, who were

Wales' first opponents. They went through on play-offs. They finished

third and beat Slovenia over two legs in the play-offs. The first

time they triumphed in play-offs on the fifth time of asking. Jonny

Williams. Slightly to close. No margin for error with that pass from

Williams. Had Taylor been able to get a quick touch and get the ball

out of his feet, he might have been able to carry the ball into the

penalty box. Andre Shevchenko saying what should have happened there. He

should know, 48 goals in 111 performances for Ukraine.

Church goes in, and peer toff had to react quickly.

A 70,000 stadium, this, and they were expecting around 20 odd

thousand here. Sandwiched by Stepanenko and Yarm

Lane Cove. It was a foul the first time and he stayed on his feet,

tried to get the advantage. The second challenge came in and took

him down. Chester heard the shout of Ben Davies. A good ball to the Spurs

defender. The next time Wales meet, he could be a member of the Premier

League winning squad, Ben Davies! I think you might have something to

say about that. Exactly, if Andy King is watching! We also hope that

he will be! Showing no favours here. Great to have Welshmen involved.

Jonny Williams fouled. Good position for Wales. He puts his body in front

and draws the challenge in. You really want Sam Vokes in this

position. You have Williams and Chester, both made their way up.

Looks like Joe Al and is going to take it with his right foot. Ashley

Williams has gone over to where the free kick is being taken. It was a

challenge from behind, not the first. Allen sizes up the free kick.

Davies, Williams, Chester, all forward from the back. The crowd not

happy. It's a big build-up. The header puts Allen in a bit of

trouble, could but good play by Williams. That is Ukraine at their

best. One minute they're defending, and then they've got the ball.

Bodies flying forward very quick. A bit like Wales at our best, when

we've got the likes of Gareth Bale in the side. Yes, no Bale, no

Ramsey, no James Collins, no Andy King. We will talk about this during

the game, I'm sure, but to mine -- my mind, we've got 20 places. 16 or

17 certainties. Including the three goalkeepers? Yes. Three goalkeepers

being Hennessey, Ward and form Williams. Out of the outfield

players, how many certainties are there? I said 18 or 19. Three or

four may be. Three or four places up for grabs. The referee, from the

Netherlands, is having a word with catcher Reedy. He was not the one

who fouled Williams earlier. It was the third one they've had. Surely

there can be no more. The referee needs to start clamping down on

that. That's the ball that can catch

Ukraine cold, when Ashley Williams picks the ball up. We know he loves

the pass with his right foot towards Chris Gunter. Done it so many times

in the Swansea City shirt. Just a bit too much on it there. Kucher

looks for Fedetskiy going forward. Huws turns in the centre circle.

Good play by the youngster. Did really well to win the free kick.

Surrounded by three Ukrainian players in the centre circle. Good

upper body strength by Huws. Again! The referee has got to take action.

Garmash is the first yellow card of this game. That was a topping up

procedure. Any time a Welsh player has got away from them, they have

pulled them down. There were three challenges from behind that could

have warranted three yellow cards on their own. May be that first card

from the referee will calm things down from the Ukrainian point of

view. There's been some poor challenges out there. Chris Coleman

is at pains to say it isn't a friendly game, it's a warm up. He

doesn't consider these games friendlies. There's a lot at stake

for the players. Certainly. Three warm up games before June the 11th.

Neil Taylor can't do anything else. He's just got to head the ball into

an area. Ashley Williams. Ukraine have the free kick.

looking for an opening. Good ball inside to Stepanenko.

looking for an opening. Good ball half. So important at this level,

that you are organised. And disciplined as well. They had a bit

of a challenge earlier on in front of us, after the free kick that

Ashley Williams gave away. Williams runs into

Ashley Williams gave away. Williams will hear from John Hartson, in the

studio alongside Kit Symons. Kit Symons was on the bench for the two

games against Ukraine in 2001. Next to you! I didn't get a sniff. John,

what do you make of the first 20 minutes or so? I think we've been

excellent. We've controlled the game, playing at our pace. Williams

has looked sharp. Church threatened to go in behind very, very early, so

showing we are a threat. Church likes to run in behind the

opposition defence. Other than that Ukrainian half chance when Ben

Davies switched off for a slight second, I've been very disappointed

with the Ukraine. I know it's only a friendly but I expected more from

them. Wales are totally in control of this match. Jonny Williams free

kick then on the cover Link oh. Just a as much as anything. Not much in

it. Just catches his ankle. In a really dangerous position. So Rotan

and Yama Link oh. Rotan is the captain, wearing 14.

Work for Wayne Hennessey to do here, maybe? Turns it in. Yarmalenko makes

the breakthrough for the Ukraine. No trouble at all. Turned in the free

kick, and the home side have the lead. And it is Yarmolenko, his 23rd

goal for his country. He had an acre of space as well. Whether the Welsh

boys thought that Rotan was going to have a shot on goal... It was only

30 yards out. It comes off his marker. No one goes with him, no one

comes off the wall. He catches it on the half volley. A terrific finish

in the end. Maybe Hennessey should be doing better. He gets both hands

to it on the turn, but cannot stop the ball hitting the back of the

net. He will be disappointed. How on earth Yarmolenko got that much room

in the penalty box... Coleman will be fuming. Another goal conceded

from a set piece. Shevchenko is leading the applause as Yarmolenko

moves a goal nearer his total. He's got to get to 48. On 23 now. That's

the level that Shevchenko has set. It shows why he is the

second-highest Ukraine goal scorer of all time. Wayne Hennessey will be

disappointed. He's got to push that across the post. Yarmolenko gets

hold of it, but it isn't a fiercely hit shot. It's straight at him.

Should be doing better. Let's be honest, Yarmolenko to be getting

that much time and space in the penalty box. He might have been

waiting for an offside. Lawrence tries to put the pressure

on Khacheridi, but he dribbles away with it. It is hard when you have

got to work inside the box, you are stranded with the ball. Wales are to

hit back against Northern Ireland, and we are going to have to do the

same again. It is a real blow for them as Garmash tries to make

progress. But Allen comes away with it, only Church up ahead of him.

Skips a lunging challenge their by Zozulya. He didn't do enough to lose

his marker. Lawrence just ran the ball out of play. I blame John

Hartson for that, saying how well Wales were doing! We looked

comfortable, didn't we? We really looked solid, didn't have any

trouble defensively, we had had plenty of the ball in their final

third. And Tom Lawrence had tested the goalkeeper once, we looked

really comfortable, and then a silly free kick to give away, we fall

asleep, lack of concentration from Rotan's free kick, and we get

punished. It just goes to show, you can't switch off for a second.

They will be a tough nut to crack now, they have conceded only four

goals in qualifying, and they haven't lost in a friendly since

June 2012, that was before Fomenko took over as manager. They have only

lost twice in the last 18 games in this stadium, and one of those was

to Spain. Their last two defeats have been against Spain, and there

is no shame in that. Not at all. We went until the very last seconds of

the game to get the equaliser against Northern Ireland and the

other night, and one thing we do know, this team doesn't black

character and spirit. Kovalenko looks at the goal-scorer, cutout by

Davies, though. Annoyed with himself that he played the ball in behind

Neil Taylor. You just feel, though, that the pattern of the game may

have been set now,... They have got the ball, they will wait for the

openings to show themselves, and they have got such a lively pair of

winners, in Yarmolenko and Kovalenko. This is Kovalenko. Great

challenge by Ashley Williams. Comes out the back, sees the danger, put

the challenge in. As you can see, Ukraine quite happy

to drop to the halfway line. Every single one of their players just

before then in their own half. A lovely little touch by Jonny

Williams. Do you think he is on the plane to France? I think so. He came

on on Thursday and made things happen, went looking for the ball,

took players on. He got lucky, it hit his back, he threaded through to

Church. Gunter is there, back to Church again.

Plenty of Wales shirts in the, cleared away. And Chester cuts that

through ball out. Lawrence made himself available, Davies.

It just shows how important that one piece of sloppy play can cost you so

much at international level. They win you games, and they use you

games, set pieces. I thought he won the ball, and that

is what his argument is. A decent challenge, played the ball off the

shin of Garmash. Rotan, the captain, goes back to Kucher.

Remember, we remember this stadium from the 2012 final when Spain put

four past Italy. Stepanenko, a couple of dummies, well done by

Yarmolenko, but it went through to Hennesey, who rolls it out Allen.

And once again, a great move by Yarmolenko who rolls it out to

Kovalenko. Not standing still, they go out to midfield to look for the

ball, very difficult to pick up. He has made a good run for Wales, then.

Just over ten minutes to go to half-time, Wales trailing 1-0.

Yarmolenko with the goal, good play by Taylor and Lawrence, can they get

across over? Taylor can. Can't find a Wales team-mate. Just a lack of

bodies in that Ukrainian penalty box. Chris Gunter has done his very

best to get onto that back post, otherwise there is only Simon Church

in that six yard box. You wonder why they had a chat before the free

kick, this is why. They really smart finish from Yarmolenko. And really

well found by Rotan, in all fairness. Looking at it again,

Hennesey is screaming at his defenders far allowing Yarmolenko so

much space to score, but he will be disappointed. You should be stopping

that. Seal of approval from Andre Shevchenko, this is how I would have

done it. He used to wear 7, didn't he? Heeded. So, the question is now,

can Wales respond? They would rather learn a lesson in

a game like this, get all of the mistakes out of the way in the three

friendlies that we have got before we go to France. Learn your lessons,

and move on. You can't dwell on them, nothing you can do about it

now, but just make sure that it doesn't happen again. Don't mind

being opened up with an unbelievable move and a fantastic finish, but

that was avoidable, Rob. The goal on Thursday, it is avoidable if

everybody does their job. It is going chilly Ade Olympic Stadium in

Kiev. Williams was brought down by Khacheridi. Is Khacheridi going to

be the second Ukraine player booked? He is. That is what he does well,

Jonny Williams, just move the ball well, so quickly, draws defender in.

Khacheridi thinks he can win it, but the ball has gone past him. He is

making sure that Jonathan Williams isn't in a similar position to wear

Ukraine scored. What have Wales got up their sleeve? They are leaving it

to the youngsters, Lawrence and Huws. Just make this goalkeeper

work, hit the target, bans it in front of him, follow the ball in. He

will give you something. Emyr Huws did score against the

Netherlands. Tom Lawrence yet to open his account for Wales. The

referee just ensures that the wall is back the full ten.

He is very precise, this referee. This is Lawrence. Wasted, absolutely

wasted by Tom Lawrence. You don't see how money goals he has scored

from that distance from free kicks, the angle is better, and favoured.

Emyr Huws on his left foot. A horrible free kick. Next time, Emyr

Huws will pull rank. Leave this one to me, Tom. It is hard when Gareth

Bale plays, because no one else gets a chance to take them, because he is

so good at them. He would have fancied that. Just his distance,

wasn't it, just his distance. He will be back from France, though,

that's the main thing. They are trying to win the ball when they

can't win it, the Ukrainian defenders. That is a good ball out

to Jonathan Williams, and sometimes as a defender you just have to let

the player get hold of it, make sure he doesn't turn you, and force him

to go back. Uncompromising is probably the word. Clumsy, whatever

you want to call a. Chester looks at Jonny Williams

again. It was Kucher who was there, and Tom Lawrence wins it back. Well

worked, Tom Lawrence. And once more, Williams is targeted. He is not the

biggest, Jonny Williams, and Chris Coleman shows his frustration. How

many more times? I bet he is thinking. That is six or seven on

Williams, and only the one yellow card, could have seen at least three

or four in this opening half. If he is thinking, how many more times,

what is Jonny Williams thinking? What have I done?

Lawrence wanted the throw. It was never the throw for Wales. Too much

time, should have played it earlier to Neil Taylor, who I think is

telling them that now. This is out of that its key -- this is

Fedetskiy, a straight pass picked up by Gunter, leaves it was Huws. The

coverage done by Ukraine TV tonight, so we don't have possession

statistics, but I imagine Wales are probably edging it.

Took a quick throw to Williams. Up in the air again! It has -- he has

spent a lot of time in the air tonight, Jonny Williams. And on the

floor, bless him. But he has impressed me in this first half.

He's tried to make things happen, taken people on. He's been fouled

many times in this first half. Last chance for Wales, maybe, in this

first half, to avoid heading to half-time trailing. Allen drives in

the free kick. Not a bad one. Williams rushed into the past. I

think Tom should have crushed it. He had half a second to put that ball

into the penalty box. That's all you can do. Can't pick anybody out. Just

hope that one of the four bodies you've got in there can get on the

end of it. That's the half-time whistle. Wales will be really

disappointed, because they more than held their own in that first half.

One bit of sloppy defensive play from a set piece, and Yarmolenko

pounced for his 23rd goal for his country, where he took it. You can

see why Yarmolenko is the second highest goal-scorer in Ukraine

history. I think Chris will be frustrated and angry with that goal

we conceded, because we've looked good, comfortable and strong

defensively. We've had plenty of possession. Haven't really made it

count, but we have to concentrate on set pieces. It's hurting us at the

moment. Half-time here at the Olympic Stadium. Work for Wales to

do. Wales had started impressively in Kiev before Jonny Williams

conceded this free kick. A lovely free kick in from Rotan. What a

finish from Yarmolenko to give Ukraine the 1-0 lead. They had

barely threatened before that, but a lovely finish there to give the home

side the lead. The legend Shevchenko certainly appreciated that one. But

Chris Coleman will be very annoyed at half-time, because Wales had

started so well. He will be annoyed with the goal, the fact that his

defence were sleeping for it. But nobody expected Rotan to hit that

type of free kick. They were looking for the shot. An unbelievable piece

of skill to dink the ball over the ball, then Yarmolenko gets onto it.

Wales looked comfortable. They started the game well. The goal

came, and that has given the Ukraine a bit of a lift. Talk to us about

Wales defensively. He has run off the wall, so no one is marking him

at all. We were caught on our heels a bit. No one is expecting that,

though. And Yarmolenko cuts in from the right hand side. A terrific

finish. That is a really difficult skill as well. When you look at the

ball, there is probably plenty of dampness on the pitch, so the ball

is skidding up fast. A wonderful finish from Yarmolenko. Could

Hennessey have done better? I think he will be disappointed. Beaten at

the post. You would ruling at the performance of Joe Allen. I don't

think the Ukrainians will tire of seeing that goal! It's a difficult

one. He got in there and had to hit it very fast. He probably catches

Hennessey a bit flat-footed. He struck it well, a lot of pace, great

contact. Very difficult. You would ruling at the performance of Joe

Allen. He was controlling things at the start. He was. Showing his

class. We have a map here as regards to him and his touches. He always

looks like he has plenty of time on the ball. Wonderful feat. Hardly

ever gives the ball away. He keeps it alive and is a wonderful football

player. This time he gets it back and knows when to go. His ankles and

his body shape is always great. He is always on the right angle to

receive the ball. When you have a player like him on the team, he is

certainly a starter for Chris in the year rose in the first game. A

wonderful performance tonight. -- in the Euros. We talk about Gareth

Bale, but he is equally important to us. Let's talk about some of the

other players trying to impress this evening, in particular Lawrence and

Williams. They have linked up with Church. They have done well. Done a

lot of work. Tonight is a great of that unity for these young boys.

Over well, they have done it pretty well. The overall shape in midfield

with Allen and Huws, to keep the ball alive and recycle, and those

two playing in behind a front man is very important. A good save was

drawn from the keeper. He is getting in just behind Church. It's

important. Simon Church stretches it long. It is a thankless task playing

as that lone striker. It can be difficult, but you have to keep

going to create space for other people. Is that the thing about Tom

Lawrence? His end ability isn't there. His goal-scoring record

hasn't been great. Wales lack a prominent threat when there is no

Bale in the side, and no Ramsey, who likes to break forward. But we've

got to try and find them. We've got what we've got, Church, Vokes and

young Lawrence. We've got to work to get them in forward positions. When

our best players come back we will be a more potent force. For now,

Lawrence has good touch and movement and works really hard. It is just

that lack of hitting the target and being clinical in front of goal.

Let's have a look at some other results in friendlies taking place

Slovenia is getting under way. Closer to home, a disappointing game

for Newport County, beaten at home today by Accrington. In the National

It is so close now. You can almost feel it. How much are you looking

forward to France now? Only 75 days to go. We have waited long enough.

Waited 58 years. Many a great player representing Wales in years gone by

haven't had the opportunity to go. Great players. This group have done

it. Something very special under Chris Coleman and his staff. I'm

really looking forward to it. I will be there with the BBC, very excited

like every other Welsh person. We have had three warm up games since

Wales qualified. The draw against Northern Ireland, and losing so far

against Ukraine. Do you feel more or less confident about Wales' chances

in France? Equally, really. Ideally you would want to go in with

positive results from the warm up games, but I am still very confident

and looking forward to it. Come the first game it will be a different

proposition. A lot of the focus is going to be on the England game, the

second match. Do we have more to fear from England, having seen how

well they did against Germany in Berlin? I don't think so. They will

be just as worried about us as we are about them. We are basically...

There will be no pressure on our boys. It is our first tournament in

58 years. The English press will put all sorts of pressure on their team,

as they always do in every tournament, so we can go into that

game and embrace it. It is a derby game. We want to win and be

competitive, but all the pressure is on England. We have to have Gareth

Bale and Aaron Ramsey fit stand any chance against the likes of Russia.

We have excellent players who are very important to us as a nation.

Ideally, you would want those boys fit and playing well, and they will

scare any team in the world. Talking about Joe Allen this evening. Maybe

he is sometimes underrated. We don't give him enough credit. That's

because we don't see him that often for his team. At Liverpool, he

doesn't let anybody down, but he doesn't play every week. Jurgen

Klopp likes to rotate his squad. Whenever Joe comes in, he does very

well for his club team, so it is a hard one. When he plays for Wales,

he likes just to play. He is amongst his mates. Chris really rates him.

He's one of our best midfield players, but we don't see him as

much as we would like to in a Liverpool shirt, and that's his

problem there with the manager. The commentators were having that

discussion about how many players are on the margins at the moment,

how many tough calls Chris Coleman has to make. Do you think maybe 20

have booked their place? If everybody is fit, there's probably

three or four places up for grabs. The majority of the squad, probably

about 19 or 20, pick themselves if they are fully fit. We pray there

will be! That is the thing for Chris Coleman. Crossing his fingers,

touching wood, that these players are going to be fit for France.

That's right. Our top, top players, the ones who predominantly come to

the fore for us, and we now speak matches, we need them. It is

imperative they are fit. We have a good squad. Other good players as

well. Chris will probably know 20, 21. There may be one or two who play

exceptionally well between now and the end of the season, and might put

something in Chris' mind. Many of them will hoping the judge be hoping

to get the opportunity off the bench in the second half. Let's start to

look forward to it. Wales had 58% of the possession in the first half,

which backs up what we were saying about how much of the ball Wales had

before they conceded. In open play, we were excellent. The better side.

We didn't have loads of chances, but we looked very comfortable. That

makes it galling to concede another goal from a set piece, which cost us

on Thursday, but Chris will be delighted with the overall

performance. He will make changes probably after 70 minutes. Who do

you hope to see in the second half? Tom Bradshaw is doing very well in

League 1 with Walsall. Chris went on record to say that

Bradshaw would get some time tonight. Sometimes when you make six

or seven changes, I think there will be lots of changes, the game can

fizzle out a little bit. That's the way it is. He has to look at several

other players, but I think Bradshaw might well be one that we might see.

George Williams is a guy you know very well, Kit, from Fulham. Is he

one who is definitely going, probably going to France? It

wouldn't be definite, because he is obviously coming back from injury,

getting some good game time at Gillingham. But he started the game

very brightly, and I know Chris likes him a lot. A little bit to do

for him, and a few others perhaps. We are about to rejoin our

commentary team out in Kiev for the second half, Rob Phillips of Ewan

Roberts, to see whether Wales can come back from behind and pull

themselves back into this one in this panel to that Euro 2016 warm up

game. -- penultimate. Olympic Stadium in the heart of

Kiev. Mikhail Fomenko making his way back to his seat, and no changes to

either side at half-time. This could be a warm up game with a

The offside flag against him is up. Get away with it, they had a four

against three. Emyr Huws taking too much time on the ball, not moving it

early enough, and you can't lose it ten or 15 yards offside in your own

penalty area. Lost, Lego, Chester goes diving in. -- lost to

Yarmolenko. I think he was saying that Jonathan Williams was once

again fouled. He can have no complaints with that decision, gets

drawn in, slides in, takes the player down, dangerous position,

especially when you have someone of Rotan's ability on set pieces.

It is his 86th cap tonight, there are really experienced, this Ukraine

side. The crowd rises, as does Chris Gunter to head the ball away.

Lawrence will have to do a lot by himself, although he is getting

support from Emyr Huws. Taylor is joining him as well, Lawrence goes

himself. Looks for Jonny Williams, may find him eventually. A decent

run by Lawrence, I think that is what they like about him. He showed

it against Holland, his movement and pace, he played that lone striker

role superbly back in November, but we haven't seen that type of

performance since he has been Cardiff. I was disappointed on

Thursday, he didn't really get involved in the game against

Northern Ireland, he has been better tonight but you get the feeling

there is so much more to come from the young man. Davies did well

there. Gunter is joint 10th in the overall

caps for Wales. The consistency of Gunter must be under some threat

even at this distance. He has a great chance of being the first

Welshman to win a hundred caps. What is he, 26? Great chance, a

magnificent servant. And so enthusiastic, as well. Another

yellow card, this time it goes to Fedetskiy. Perhaps Chris Coleman has

had a word with the referee at half-time. Maybe he bumped into

Kevin Ratcliffe! So, Wales free kick, Joe Allen. That was a nasty

one, as well. He is lucky he has seen it coming in, he is caught and

he jumps at the same time, I think. A poor challenge by Fedetskiy. The

fans will be wincing at that. Allen with the free kick, and Pyatov

collectors. That was flighty from Joe Allen, the goalkeeper sees it

coming from a long way, decides to come and take the pressure off his

defenders. Yarmolenko will stretch, Chester and Williams rushing back,

and Hennesey does the job at the other end. Well done, Wayne

Hennessey, good safe hands this time. That is when Ukraine are at

their best, when they are counterattacking, they have pace in

wide areas, not the best delivery, not the best cross, showing good

energy down the right-hand side, but good hands by Wales's number one,

Wayne Hennessey. Taylor at Swansea City, and Joe Allen is on the ball

now, goes through to Church. Gunter there again. Joe Allen just beaten

in the air, it breaks the Taylor who lays it up for Huws, who just lacks

a bit of composure from distance. No believe in that shot, from Emyr

Huws. Got himself in a good position, Joe Allen did very well

with the header, but he needs to make sure the defender doesn't get a

clear header. All he can do is head the ball to Neil Taylor, who has the

awareness that Huws is coming onto the ball, but no conviction in the

shot. Richards and Hanley are warming up. Do you think that club

commitments will play a part in Kris Commons's substitutions? Ashley

Williams wanted to play in both warm up matches. He doesn't want to miss

a second of any game for Swansea or Wales! You want to keep club

managers on your side, you don't know when you will need them, and

common sense will come into it, I'm sure. I do think Ashley will play

the full game. Swansea City go to Stoke on Saturday. Emyr Huws. He has

been pleasing on the item night in possession. Neat and tidy on the

ball, got caught on a couple of occasions, but when you have a

player like him, who always wants the ball, that is going to happen.

Williams goes tumbling once more, and this time he is appealing for

handball. There is no justice, Jonny , no justice at all! Shevchuk towers

over him. Stepanenko. Fedetskiy looking for Kovalenko,

straight onto the right side of Ukraine.

I would like to see us maybe press slightly higher up the pitch, go and

close the likes of Kucher and Khacheridi down, see if they are as

confident when they haven't got time to play out of the back, forced them

into mistakes, make them play at early. Williams ends up on the

ground again, but he finds Allen, and Gunter. That wins the free kick,

Stepanenko. They are seeing plenty of the ball in this sort of area.

The start of possession, we showed in the first half we had far more

than Ukraine, we have looked really comfortable. It is just that final

pass that is going to open things out for one of our boys to maybe get

a shot on target, as Tom Lawrence did in that first half, just take a

bit more care with that final ball in, that is all that is needed. This

time Joe Allen has taken command. From a similar range to wear Huws

and Lawrence for on the ball in the first half. That is no better,

though. Probably the right option to cross it in, but just doesn't get

anything underneath it whatsoever. Zozulya was trying to send Kovalenko

clear, but Gunter was on hand. This is Yarmolenko, momentarily out

of position. Not afraid to try his chances. You know he is always going

to want to come inside from that right-hand side, and maybe get a

shot as he did then with his left foot, or maybe cross it. He doesn't

want to go down the line, and maybe when he gets in that position, he

needs to be forced. I am not going to let you cut inside and do what

you want to do. If you are going to beat me, you have to go down the

line and cross it with your right foot. Wales trailing to the goal by

Andriy Yarmolenko in the first half. After 28 minutes. The ball brought

up by Huws, Williams, Allen again. He tries the shot, and it is only

half palmed away by Pyatov, who was caught by surprise. You work this

goalkeeper, and he will give you something. And it all comes, Tom

Lawrence putting pressure on Khacheridi, who gives the ball away

in his own half, and it is a well struck shot by Joe Allen, straight

at the goalkeeper, he doesn't collect that, both fists to the

ball, not the clearest of punches by Pyatov. He hasn't scored for Wales,

Joe Allen. 25th cap tonight. And it looks like Ukraine are looking at

surrogate Sydorchuk to come on. The first change, I would expect plenty

more, maybe Zozulya will make way. It is into the Wales ox again! And

again, Wales poor on set pieces, and that is the worry for Chris Colm

and. I think it was Kucher this time, the backward header by the big

centre-half, a good all in once again by Rotan. Wayne Hennessey had

it covered, I think, had it been going on target, I think big Wayne

would have collected that one. He was looking for Taylor with a

clearance, Taylor wants to take the throw-in quickly.

Sydorchuk is about to come on for the Ukraine. Huws only had Church to

aim for. Cut out by Kucher. That is what I am talking about. Put it into

an area and then ask the questions of your forward-thinking players.

Take a gamble. Can he get on the end of it? A low driven cross by Emyr

Huws in the end. You wouldn't have thought that a corner directly

opposite the Ukraine penalty area... Rotan, the captain, is making way

for Sydorchuk. 24-year-old plays here at Dinamo Kiev. His 10th cap.

The captain's night is finished. Wales have the throw-in in a good

area. Shaun MacDonald is ready to come on, as is a big Sam Vokes. The

changes for Wales as well. This is where it gets really complicated,

when all the changes start happening. We thought we'd got away

with it at half-time! Sam Vokes may have had more

possession when he played tonight than he did on Thursday against

Northern Ireland. Church made an excellent run there to win a corner.

All about the work rate of Simon Church. It is about making a bad

ball into a good one. That is what he done -- he does well. We haven't

seen enough of it. Sometimes his movement forces the person on the

ball to put that all into the area. Simon Church makes way for big Sam

Vokes. And Jonny Williams, who I think has

probably done enough in the friendlies since the Euro qualifiers

finished, makes way for Sean MacDonald. I totally agree. He did

well when he came on on Thursday, made things happen. He's looked

really bright tonight as well. Jonathan Williams, done enough I

think. Davies was the target of the corner.

Plenty of Wales players were waiting in the middle. Just hit it wide by

James Chester. I think it was just behind him. Maybe he went a second

to early. It's a difficult chance. Can't really get the power he needed

to hit the target. What a good chance for Sean muck Donald. --

Shaun Macdonald. The forgotten man for Wales.

He isn't finding first-team football regularly at Bournemouth, but he has

been given a new contract. So he is rated by Eddie Howe. A foul there by

Kucher, who pleads innocence. Correctly, on that occasion. He's

got away with a phew, mind. It's a free kick for me. Zozulia backed

into James Chester. A good bit of play for Wales. Comfortable in

possession. Sean MacDonald made the running behind from the throw in.

Should have got himself. We caught them sleeping.

A good ball, looking for Fedetskiy. Neil Taylor did very well. They are

both down in the penalty area. The right back can tear into the penalty

box. Neil Taylor did every so well. right back can tear into the penalty

Put his body on. Made sure he was not going to

coming in from the right hand side. Taylor did just enough. Just used

his body. Just leaned into Fedetskiy. A change in the offing

for Wales. It is Jazz Richards. He's being prepared to see some

defence missing Ashley Williams must suffer, you would think. Thank

goodness we don't see it that often. He's like a machine. I've said it

before. When we haven't got the likes of

Bale, when we win it halfway in our own half, we can't then play the

ball forward with pace. When the opposition's back for our playing

quite hide towards the centre circle, we turn teams. We knows that

those two are always going to win the race and get to the ball first.

We haven't done that enough tonight, nor against Northern Ireland. You

also mentioned Aaron Ramsey. He's the one with the creativity and

vision in the middle of the park to thread those types of walls through.

Chester was very cool. James Chester has done himself the power of good

in these two games so far. He hasn't really played too much football for

West Brom. Spent a lot of time in the stands and on the bench. The

last month he has had more of a regular place. He probably needed to

good performances with the form of James Collins for West Ham. There is

always any gathered on, playing in the Mark Noble testimonial today. 49

caps. The wise men of Ukrainian football.

The Wales defence coped with that. Great covering. Tidied things up for

Wales. Wayne Hennessey made a hash of that!

Put yourself under pressure. Chris Gunter, he does put him under

pressure, but big Wayne has got two good feet, both right and left. He

is a good kick up of the ball. Maybe he could see Zozulia closing him

down. He more than made up for his missed kick in the end.

Chris Coleman had a good view of all that. Very close to him. Kucher has

taken over the captaincy now. 1-1 in the past two games between these two

countries. Wales would take that now. Need a goal, though.

Just too far away from Vokes, the big, burly striker. You just need

someone making a run across Stepanenko in the end. Sam can't do

both. You can only do one. Jazz did under hit the ball, but if someone

had made the run across the Ukrainian midfielder, might have

been able to get on the end of it. More changes in the offing for

Wales. We are high up in the crows nest here at the Olympic Stadium,

where I think I see Bradshaw and Henley coming on. Henley, the

Blackburn player, of course. And Tom Bradshaw, much talk about him, the

Walsall striker. Set to make his debut.

Taylor cuts out really well. Lawrence is up ahead.

Lawrence, dealt with by Kucher. You do wonder how many fouls Kucher is

going to get away with. I think this one is given against Stepanenko for

the late challenge against Allen. A clumsy challenge. So Adam Henley is

coming on for Neil Taylor. Guidolin will be sure dutch will be pleased,

I'm sure, that his two players are out of the firing line. Henley is

normally right back, but he will go over to the left-hand side. He

filled the role against Northern Ireland.

And although they held up the wrong number, it is Tom Lawrence making

wafer Tom Bradshaw, Walsall striker. He has got about 18 minutes or so to

make an impression. Lets go and see what you are all about, Tom. 16

goals in 38 appearances this season, 20 in 37 last. He knows where the

goal is. Die Griffiths, the FA of Wales president looking comfortable

in his seat in the Olympic Stadium as Allen wins it back. He would love

to see a Wales goal. Hopefully he will make it one of two upfront with

Sam Vokes. Just let Macdonald play that number ten role. A big step up

for a League 1 striker, but as you have said, Ewan Roberts, the goal

for the same side whatever division you are. If he can create chances,

he is full of confidence, I am surprised a championship club having

taken a chance on him with the goals he has scored for Walsall. I would

love to see him get an opportunity. Chester commits the foul. A great

story, Aberystwyth, Shrewsbury Town then to Walsall. A proud moment for

friendlies, you want to be tested. You don't want to go out there and

him for part of the game, yes, definitely, rather than wrapping up

probably thinking, that was my first offence. Joe Ledley has got the

shout, get yourself warmed up, be ready. There are more goals there

now with Sam Vokes, that is one thing that they are lacking, Wales,

Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale scored nine of the 11 goals that got Wales

through to Euro 2016. Only Albania out of the teams that have qualified

France have scored less than us. We have kept a good clean sheets, but

the problem is apart from Israel away, finding the back of the net on

a regular basis, the four against Andorra in both games. It has been

difficult. . Yes. Is he still playing?

And Joe Ledley I think will replace Emyr Huws. He wants to take a free

kick quickly, and does. Vokes is strong. Just missed the backpass.

the ball, he has looked comfortable. A very good performance by Emyr

Huws. Is he on the plane to France? I think he has got a very good

opportunity of going. He wasn't in my initial 23 man squad, because he

hadn't played any football whatsoever for Huddersfield after

bad injury against Cardiff on January the 31st. But he gives you

that golfer midfielders well. I think he has played really well

tonight. That is slowly filling up! Not much room left for us. We will

do our best. Joe Ledley is an fair Emyr Huws. Time running out for

Wales. Macdonald, plenty to do, but he does it well. Vokes goes for it,

so did Bradshaw. Just not enough on the cross from jazz Richards, great

skill first and foremost, by Bradshaw, who releases McDonald's.

Macdonald again, and can he engineer a cross? He was looking for

Bradshaw. Didn't react in time. Probably thought that there was no

way MacDonald would cross the ball. The crowd are starting to get

excited. As they approach the last ten minutes, Wales trailing to that

Andriy Yarmolenko goal. They snuffed out that attack very successfully.

So, we have said Jonny Williams, Emyr Huws, over these two games,

they have given themselves a great chance, I think. I thought he was

outstanding when he came on against Holland, scored a very good goal,

and he has carried on tonight with a similar type of performance, and I

think Jonny Williams probably has done enough in the qualifying games,

when he has had the opportunity to show what he is all about. And just

looking at the style of play, Ewan Roberts, does that mean David

Vaughan? Possibly. He is the one name that there could be a question

mark over. If you are going to include Emyr Huws in your squad.

Because don't forget you have Andy King, Dave Edwards, some fantastic

options. It is a lovely problem to have as a manager, you can't have

too many options. Dave Edwards was part of our team against Northern

Ireland, we would rather see him out on the pitch, and he is only a few

weeks away from a return. You would think he was another one who did

enough in the qualifying games to warrant a place on that plane. And

he is a loyal man, I warrant a place on that plane. And

surprised if he sticks with the majority of the

home, a good test against a team that don't lose too often in their

own stadium. Henley with the throw, Ledley makes the run. Can he get the

Ramsey. Let's be honest, you don't get anything from winning

friendlies, do you? Your bread-and-butter is qualifying

games, where we have been outstanding over the past two years.

These are warm up games for a massive month in June for us. And

you just want to see a good performance. Players improving,

getting a better understanding together the more they play. A

chance for some players who haven't had a lot of time in those ten

qualifying games to impress. And the good thing is, we haven't been

outplayed in either game. We have just lacked something going forward,

maybe a bit of luck, a ball bouncing the wrong way going the right way

for us, or a Gareth Wael. But we knew that anyway, that we would have

a problem with scoring goals if Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale were

missing. Bradshaw wins the free kick. He has

got to make one of these count, just as Ukraine did in the first half, to

grab the lead. Allen stands over it once more. Henley and Richards are

back. Vokes is on now, of course. Can he

get anywhere near the big, burly striker? Allen looks for him, he was

the target, headed away. Zozulya collect the clearance ball,

but can't keep it in. He ploughs a lonely furrow up front, Romans and

Julia, especially when you have three centre halves against you. --

Zozulya. He played against Sevilla, they have a lightning quick striker.

He is injured, and I think the coach forming -- Mikhail Fomenko has taken

the chance to experiment, and he likes what he is seeing. Can Wales

get the draw they deserve? Definitely, they don't deserve to

lose, and that is what hurts, one lack of concentration, you can see

the goal, and you don't deserve to go home empty-handed. Bradshaw with

the header, and Vokes followed in. Could have been a timely

intervention by Sam Vokes. A really good all in, and Bradshaw knows he

has just got to try to help the ball on, and Big Sam reacts, he goes

early. It arrives at his head early, and he can't really react and get

his body shape so he can get the header on goal. It is Wales who look

likely to score next. MacDonald, Ledley has made a run into the box,

Henley overlaps, Vokes weights, Ledley touches it back. Oh! He was

expecting MacDonald to run onto the ball, wasn't he? He was. Shaun

MacDonald is having to backtrack, and does his defensive work well to

stop the substitute Sigel Chuck -- Sydorchuk.

Just going to run the clock down now, aren't they? Take their time.

In no real rush to take anything now.

Bradshaw was pushed, but he found Chester.

The crowd have woken up! There's a few flares, and fireworks. There's a

group of Ukraine found in one corner of this huge stadium, 70,000

capacity. Nowhere near that here. Finally making their presence felt.

Those Wales fans... I think they've enjoyed themselves in Kiev. It's a

lovely city. Very welcoming. They won't enjoy the result. I think they

are probably fairly content with the performance. Looking for the one

chance that would lead to the equaliser. One bit of quality in the

remaining three or four minutes in this game. One decent cross into Sam

Vokes, really. Davies tried to supply it. Bradshaw was there. The

flag was up anyway. A hopeful ball in by Ben Davis. Put it into an

area, let Sam Vokes use his body strength. He's offside, half a yard.

Redshaw got onto the end of it. Couldn't keep the half volley down.

-- Bradshaw got onto the end of it. Maybe that's what we should do. Not

just keep the ball for the sake of keeping it. Look for that long ball

every now and then towards Vokes, or whoever it is. Three minutes of

added time to play. For Wales to get the equaliser they surely deserve.

Ledley showed his anguish at the throw-in decision that went against

him. Maybe that gives the Ukraine more opportunity to run the time

down. A late sting in the tail. What do you think Wes hello I think it's

been a promising performance. We've kept the ball well. We've struggled

once again in the final third. We came to a tough but -- tough place,

and we have probably shaded it. Not many teams would come to the Ukraine

and do that. Pyatov was alert there. Vokes won the header. That would

have been a collector 's item! Kept it down well. Maybe the last chance

for Wales. Header towards goal from Bradshaw. And peer tough, you can

tell the reaction of the crowd, how happy they were to see their

goalkeeper plunge on that. -- Pyatov.

Sam Vokes just couldn't get across the keeper. It bounced up

comfortably for him. Bradshaw got a decent header in. Probably was never

going to score from that distance. Just headed back into an area and

hope a grey shirt would be there for the final touch. Sadly, it wasn't to

be. Pyatov has been flawless tonight. Not under immense pressure,

that he's had to do his job when called for.

I think maybe Bradshaw was surprised he didn't have a shot. Vokes turned

again. I think Sam Vokes in a Burnley shirt would take that

shocked on. The referee looks at his whistle. Seconds to go now. Chester

can't get the ball forward first time. Plenty of Welsh shirts stay

forward as Hennessey launches it, but too strong. The final whistle

goes. Disappointment for Chris Coleman in the result, but you'd

think that one or two Welsh players have more than put in a good case to

be on that plane to France for the Euros. The next time this squad meet

up, they will not worry about Yarmolenko's winner for the Ukraine.

They will be thinking about Slovakia in the opening game of the Euro 2016

finals. Ukraine have triumphed tonight. There's plenty of plus size

for Wales. The next time they get together, it will be the squad that

A second defeat for Wales since they qualified for the Euros, and it all

came down to the first half bit of magic. The foul by Williams, a super

free kick, and Yarmolenko with an impressive finish. Wales didn't have

an answer for that. Joe Allen came close, forcing a save with this

effort. The Liverpool midfielder had a finite overall. Late on, Tom

Redshaw could have been the hero with this header. It was saved

again. Note -- no Bale, and no joy for Coleman's side. Wales had 56% of

the possession, with ten attempts on goal. It is the one at the top that

matters. Let's get some reaction. We are with Tom Bradshaw. Tom, your

debut this evening, maybe not the one you wanted score-wise. No, we

came out here to win. I enjoyed every second I was on the pitch. It

was a childhood dream of mine to play for my country, and I have

achieved it. Unfortunately we didn't win, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Not the win, but a better performance than Thursday? We moved

the ball well. They did us on the set piece, which was disappointing.

We nicked one or two. Tom, congratulations on your debut. He is

happy to make his full debut this evening. Otherwise, a disappointing

night for Wales. A shame they couldn't find their own moment of

magic. It was a very hard-fought performance for Wales. They gave

everything. You cannot question the player will team attitude is. Chris

will be disappointed with the way they conceded the goal, but there

was very little between the two teams. Wales, the possession, they

forced more corners, but it is the goals that count. They scored a

wonderful goal. A brilliant ball in from Rotan. Yarmolenko, their best

player. No Welsh player is expecting that free kick. Rotan dinks it over

the wall, and Yarmolenko is onto it. A wonderful finish. How disappointed

will Chris Coleman be with that defensively? Set pieces, we do

concede a bit of height to teams at times. We are not the biggest side.

But this was switching off a bit. He will be disappointed, but the

overall performance was very good. We know we are missing goals from

certain players, and when they are back in the team, a different

prospect altogether. When you have no Bale or Ramsey, you need... He

was excellent all the way through. Joe Allen. His energy levels are

right up there. He is a fantastic player, Allen, and he proved it

again tonight. He was one player, really... The commitment was there,

but he was the one player who looked head and shoulders above the rest

tonight. We spoke at half-time about Lawrence and Jonny Williams. Emyr

Huws also had an opportunity to impress tonight. How did he do? I

thought he did very well. He sat alongside Joe Allen, got on the ball

a lot, made some forward runs. I thought he was very influential in

the game and can be pleased with his performance. He is coming back with

injury for Huddersfield. He was decent tonight. And we heard from

Tom Bradshaw tonight. He's doing very well in League 1 for Walsall.

How will he reflect on this opportunity? He seems a smashing lad

as well. We were just seeing the MEA shoes effort. -- the Emyr Huws

effort. Tom is a level-headed lad. Great that we get youngsters making

their debut. We are under no illusions in Wales, the public, the

fans... This is the Bradshaw header late on. What a dream debut that

would have been! We are under no illusions how important Gareth Bale

is, Aaron Ramsey. Tonight, Dave Edwards wasn't involved, nor Andy

King nor James Collins. Without these players, we struggle to win

games at this level. It's very hard to win international football match

is, so it is imperative... These friendlies tonight and on Thursday

were all about finding players who could fit in and play around these

are the guys. Can one or two be forced out? We have written down the

team we think we'll start, but we can't get away from the importance

of our best players for us. Kit, one more game to go before the Euros in
