are big clangors. But I think he can do better. It looks initially that

it's a really good save. But I think we argued about this and eventually

we worked out that it was offside at the far post, Dante is off. When it

comes back off Buffon, there he's off side. I think from this angle

Buffon, it's a reaction save but it's around his chest. He's either

got to catch or palm it far away from goal. Before we go into Mr

Buffon, I think that Neymar kicks out, as opposed to tricks. Have a

look at Buffon here. It's half a step to his right. Enough to shift

body weight. Yes. You put the wall there for a reason. To cover that

side of the goal. As a keeper, you have got to take responsibility for

the other side of it. This one, you know, he was out of position. He

takes a free kick and you see this huge space here, that, as it starts

to roll on, Buffon comes into the picture because he's taken a free

kick on the edge of the 18 yard box. He's out of position, he's not set.

You're taught never play the ball across goal on the diagonal. That's

what he does. It's fantastic from Fred, so strong. Chiellini is a

tough defender but holdles him off, doesn't go down and it's a great

finish. You could actually say that you

could suggest it's the whole back line. That's a goalkeeping mistake,

error full stop. That's basic stuff. He's probably the first to hold his

hand up to that. Here is a classic. Looks a mile offside. His arm is is

there. Fantastic, the officials got that one spot on. He's pushed that

one out. It's so unusual that. But also the fact that... The two

Juventus centre halves, you would envisage that they might go back to

a back three which has served them better in the past? Against the

better sides, I think if you get them together, they play

fantastically with Juventus, they've got their own goalkeeper behind

them, they are incredibly hard to break down. They've lost too many

goals in this tournament for an Italian side. I'm not going to

complain too much because I love the way they were attacking near the end

of the game, they were superb, brilliant. But the Italians won't

accept losing this amount of goals, eight goals in their tournament so

far. That's not them. Let's take a look at Neymar who came into this

tournament under a lot of pressure, expected to deliver, he's now got 23

goals in his 37 games for his country and three in three in this

tournament, Dan? Fantastic technique. Watches the ball right

under his foot and a fantastic strike. Not only cleared with his

right, this comes up. Again, technique is first class. There

aren't too many players around the world that can do that. That drag

over the right foot and the flick doesn't have to get out the way, but

all credit, a fantastic free kick. He's not unique at being automobile

to buy a foul from a defender. the tide has turned completely. Once

upon a time the defenders had the advantages, but now it's down to the

attackers and maybe it's gone too far because the defender doesn't

have to get out the way, the forward runs into you, you get a free kick.

I'm beginning to feel sorry for defenders at the moment. Thanks,

Pat, appreciate that. Standing in the way, you end up getting a free

kick when you are hit. He's a very special player, lots of statistics

you could throw out there. My favourite is the fact he's 21 and

scored 23. He's incredible and improveling all the time. Let's take

a look at Balotelli. Kept fairly quiet by Brazil. A couple of moments

of brilliance? I think he was starved of service. Never got their

game going. But sublime. He knows what he's doing. Backflip and it's a

fantastic strike, although Pat feels the defending could have been

better? Well, if I'm going towards goal and the centre back doesn't run

towards me, he runs a I way from me, you will think, he comes towards us,

now I understand it's two against one, he's caught between the devil

and the deep blue sea. It's a tight angle. You would think he'd want to

have a go but it's very tough on him. It's about Balotelli. I think

even though he was relatively quiet in this game, he's had a very, very

good tournament. His attitude's looked good, he's looked lively, in

great shape just now and looks very at home in the Italian shirt just

now. And He's going to be big in the next World Cup. He was involved in

the second goal from Chiellini. You two started on about this. The

crucial bit is when we hear the referee's whistle. When he blows for

a penalty for Italy, if you listen to this, it's before Chiellini puts

the ball into the back of the Brazil That's the crucial point, because at

that moment he blew the whistle, the game should have been stopped for

what we assume he was about to award a penalty. Once the whistle goes,

the game is dead. Gustavo holds Balotelli to it. He's furious the

referee's blown just as he's about to score and this is it. Gustavo

pulls Balotelli to the ground, it's a definite penalty, the ref is

thinking I've got to give it, but the whistle has been blown, he

points to the spot and I think this is the best angle here. You see the

referee. He blows and then he points to the spot. And just as Chiellini

put it into the back of the net. Had he have waited one more second, it

would have been fantastic refereeing. The fact that he didn't

and then allowed the goal was just the completely wrong decision.

he got it right because, you know, he let... Rules are rules.Exactly.

Couldn't have put it better myself. We all know the rules when we are

playing football. He got it wrong. In tonight's other group game,

Mexico and Japan were playing for nothing more than pride and watching

is very difficult to have a go at some of these referees, because some

of these decisions are almost impossible to call. You can't tell

what that body part is that soft side. It could be an elbow or a

backside. It is very tough for them. And it is particularly tough on

Japan, they have a lot of good players, Kagawa, Honda. We have got

to the point now where we are literally splitting body parts to

decide what is offside. It is almost incredible how technical it has to

get. To expect a linesman to get that decision right is impossible.

Let's go on from analysing body parts and just look at these goals.

Hernandez has got such good movement in and around the box. Just that

darting little run, three or four yards, and he just uses the

goalkeeper. He comes away from the defender, should have had a

hat-trick. He had to re-spotted this penalty, but the rebound, you would

almost bet your life on him scoring from three yards out. For the
