Welcome to a special bank holiday Monday Match Of The Day, bringing

you the latest instalment of the most extraordinary season in the

Barclays Premier League. On Saturday, to club at the bottom were

regulated. Tonight, our focus is on the top. -- were relegated. Just

eight days ago, Liverpool were favourites for the race in the

title. Only four Jose Mourinho's Chelsea to arrive at Anfield as

spoil the party. Manchester City with the biggest winners with their

destiny back in their own hands. They responded by beating Crystal

Palace and then Everton. Manchester City, what a finish. Still masters

of their own Premier League fate. So over to Chelsea and Liverpool as the

Premier League enters its last week. We have the whole story to come, as

well as action from Arsenal versus West Bromwich Albion, a spectacular

goal of the month competition, plus all the goals and drama of a

relegation Saturday. I am delighted to have Dietmar Hamman and Robbie

Fowler alongside me. Tonight's big clash at Selhurst Park to come

shortly, contractual arrangements mean we cannot bring you that game

until 10:45pm. That gives us enough time to show

you what happened at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Eden Hazard is not Jose Mourinho's flavour of the month, and he is on

the bench, despite being young player of the year. Appoint means

they do not need to play Champions League qualifier, spree will put

them on top, but they would still need Manchester United and Liverpool

to lose a game to still win the title. Norwich need a win, their

looks like Chelsea, who made it a three horse race last weekend, are

making it a two horse race this weekend.

There are three added minutes or a minimum thereof, and we are moving

into it. This would be maybe the biggest smash and grab you would

routine save, but what a moment it nearly was. We knew we had to stay

in the game, we wanted to hurt them. One or two times we did, I thought

we had a stonewall penalty in the first half, we could have won the

game. But in terms of the application and the desire and the

commitment from the players, whatever word you want to use, I

thought it was outstanding. The first half was a waste of time. We

played too slow, we played like the weather pushes you to play, slowly,

and lazy game. So we lost 40 minutes and in the second half we tried

everything. The gameplay worked, sitting back and hoping to get a few

half chances which we did, we needed to take one of those. It was not to

be. But anything can happen still. I have a lot of chances to think about

fairy tales, the type decide not to have it. If I wanted to win a league

easily, I would choose another club with another moment. So I choose

with my heart in every aspect. The club I want, the club I love.

Compensation I like very much to play, a city where I like to live.

Chelsea have unexpectedly faded away this season, they have been

brilliant against the good sides and then faded against the lesser

opposition. If they had someone who could score goals against the

so-called weaker teams, they would have walked the Premier League.

Going forward, they are so good. But the team, they concede silly goals.

I know you think of John Terry and Gary Cahill, they are defensively

very solid. I don't know, you think Taras, Demba Ba, they do not score

enough goals. For a team that wants or should be winning the league, it

is not happening. Do you think it is just down to the fact that their

strikers are not consistent or is there more to it? There is more to

it, the defence kept them in the title race, and they simply do not

score enough. The games they have lost lately, they have failed to

score, they have failed to beat 14th in the bottom half in the last eight

weeks. It is easy to blame the centre forwards, he changed them a

lot and it was hard for them to get confidence, but if you look at

Oscar, Willie -- Willian, the critic, they have all been bad.

Norwich are on the brink of relegation, not quite gone yet,

Sunderland need another point. Tactically they played it very

cutely against Chelsea, did you think they would go for it at the

end? Know, to be honest. They have not played for a nil nil, they have

played to soak up the pressure from Chelsea. Chelsea have done that

themselves, they have soaked up the pressure and one on the

counterattack and scored goals. Norwich, Snodgrass had a great

chance, a different game he would have scored. It is interesting about

Chelsea, I think Chelsea are better now than they were with Rafael

Benitez. With Manchester City winning at the weekend, nothing but

criminal. 55 minutes, I'm looking at them thinking, we have just dug

ourselves a massive hole. Made the changes, we scored the goal, the

first goal, and I think that knocked them back a bit. The supporters were

unbelievable and when we got the second goal, they were dragging the

ball in. When we got the third, we could have gone on to win it. The

way your players reacted, it looked as if they thought it might be it.

There is no doubt that Manchester City will go on to win it. We needed

in the first 55 minutes, but once they did not score that first goal,

they had to change their mindset. I think at no time, did they give it

sorry. If it is a storage or Suarez, world-class players. -- if it is

storage. He has got every chance to hit the ball, but he just that she's

this season is going, who knows, Manchester City's next game at home

at Aston Villa, they could lose it. Absolutely, and towards the end of

the season, the pressure gets bigger and it's harder to win games. He saw

it against Everton, they nearly blew it, they had to have a great save. I

think Liverpool will be kicking themselves, because if they had won

the game, they would have had a fantastic chance to win it and now

it will be very tough. I agree with that, but going back to what you

say, there might still be something happening. QPR went to Manchester

City, and it will end up being a very close game. We shall see, the

whole season has been bonkers. We have still got Arsenal to come, and

we will look back at Saturday. But before all of that, your chance to

minutes completed, Liverpool have the lead.

There could be a counterattack on here for West Brom. Three onto, if

they are quick enough. And a goal, that will be celebrated as much by

Liverpool fans as the West Brom supporters here! World-class

control, and world-class finish as well.

It was a bit subdued on our side, but professional. It lacked a little

bit when there was less at stake. But overall, we were serious, not

brilliant but serious. What we change in the second half is we

pressed higher up the field. We had chances to score

pressed higher up the field. We had not make the most of them. What is

your gut feeling? Would you be able to carry this out next season?

Sorry, but all the focus is on the two matches, the next two matches.

We need a point. Wednesday is a big match for us, and Sunderland.

Overall I believe the mentality of the team was outstanding. We want to

finish well, we have two big games in front of us. We can be proud of

the consistency but frustrated because we were top of the league

for a long time. We had a good understanding on the pitch, now we

know each other really well, I think we will have less injuries next year

and we could play for the title until the end. Some games, at the

start of the games away from home, we were caught by surprise, maybe we

were a bit too cautious, not confident enough, and we paid a

heavy price for it. Arsenal are forth again, highest points tally

for five seasons. And a cup final to come. Is that enough to placate the

fans? I don't think so. I know they are in the FA Cup final, but I think

the team and squad they have, they should be going a little bit

higher. Up until Christmas, they were one of the standout teams, and

higher. Up until Christmas, they they were crying out for some

during the January window. How short are they for competing for the

league title? If you look at the points tally, not far off. They lost

who is good but not world-class. This is an area they need to

address. Apart from that they have a good nucleus. Mesut Ozil has had a

good start to his career, he has tailed off, because for a record

signing he has not done enough. We were speaking about them needing a

new foreword. -- striker. We saw a picture of Loic Remy in the crowd.

As per normal, Arsene Wenger said he had never seen him. He was behind

them. Would he be the answer? Here's a good player, they could do with

that. Is Arsene Wenger the right man for Arsenal? He has been there for

18 years. He splits opinion. He does, but you've got to see what

happens at the end of the season. This is the business end. If you

told an Arsenal fan they would finish fourth and win the FA Cup,

most of them would take it, but he needs to try and win the title if he

wants to keep his job. West Bromwich are one point from safety but

mathematically they are almost guaranteed. Is that satisfactory?

Yes, I think with West Bromwich, there are one of those teams, they

are just happy staying in the Premier League. Every year, I think

they will be perfectly happy with escaping relegation. Time to start

looking back on Saturday, a significant day at the bottom of the
