What a strike from Cissokho. What a strike by Sandro. That is absolutely

stunning. Eden Hazard will shoot, now. What a

screamer. What an effort, fantastic! Good evening. We might have to

introduce a goal of the week competition after an extraordinary

few days in the Barclays Premier League. Plenty then to live up to

this evening, and I promise you it won't disappoint.

And before all seven games today, there was a minute's applause in

memory of Nelson Mandela. With me in the studio tonight are

Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage. It's 38 years since Stoke beat Chelsea in

the league but they'll be encouraged by the fact they're unbeaten in

their last four home games. They'll be less encouraged by the fact

Chelsea have won their last three league games, scoring ten in the

process. Commentary by Simon Brotherton.

Chelsea have scored more in the last two away games than Stoke City have

managed at home all season, a measure of the task facing Mark

Hughes's team as they look for only their second league victory since

the end of August against opponents eager to narrow the gap at the top

to a single point. Marc Muniesa, a 21-year-old defender signed from

Barcelona makes his second Premier League start replacing the injured

Eric Peters, and Jon Walters returns with Oussama Assaidi dropping to the

bench. Frank Lampard is on the bench, and Willian is ill for

Chelsea. John Terry captains the side on his 33rd birthday having

made more appearances in the current campaign than in the hole of last

season. -- the whole of. The delivery from Andre Schurrle,

and Ramires, over the top. The first clear sight of goal for Chelsea and

it has come within the first five minutes. Ramires lifting the ball

some distance over the top. Josie coming to this game on the back of

three straight victories, after a minor blip in November, being beaten

by Newcastle and being held to a draw by West Bromwich Albion.

Andre Schurrle spurns Ryan Shawcross, and it is the perfect

finish by Andre Schurrle, and the perfect start for Chelsea. Inside

ten minutes they lead 1-0. He has looked lively in the opening

exchanges. He turns Ryan Shawcross, not once but twice, before releasing

a shot into the bottom corner. Mark Hughes has seen his side concede

only the fourth time this season against one of his old clubs, of

course. Torres, challenged by Mark Wilson,

and it is with Ramires. Chelsea, threatening a second goal,

here. Stoke City have only scored five goals in seven home matches

this season before today. That was one back by John Mikel Obi. And that

is Ramires for Chelsea. Another straightforward save for Asmir

Begovic. Jon Walters onside, away from Cesar

Azpilicueta. And it is just over the top of Stephen Ireland's head.

Stephen N'Zonzi away to the far side. And Marco Arnautovic.

They settle for a corner kick. Stephen Ireland was in the right

place as the ball came over. The threat from Stoke City has been

sporadic in the first half. Petr Cech thought about it and did not

quite get there. Stoke City have an equaliser, through Peter Crouch.

They have been second best in this first half, but with a brake on the

horizon, they are level. Petr Cech thought about coming as the ball

came in, then had second thoughts, he got stuck in no man's land, and

Peter Crouch found the bottom of the net. And Peter Crouch has his fourth

goal of the season. Stoke City, who have hardly threatened, are level at

1-1. No foul awarded for the challenge by

Jon Walters on Cesar Azpilicueta. And now it is with Stephen Ireland,

he goes the goal, and he scores, and Stoke City have turned this game on

its head. Stephen Ireland, of the bench in the first half, give Stoke

City the lead. The clearance from Asmir Begovic, Azpilicueta went

down, they look to the referee, no free kick awarded, and Stephen

Ireland finishes the job. And Chelsea, who looked in control for

most of the first half, suddenly find themselves behind.

Chelsea, with mixed results on the road so far in the Premier League,

three victories, are couple of drawers, a couple of degrees. -- a

couple of draws. It sets this second half up beautifully. Juan Mata

prepares to take this one. Plenty forward for it as well. What a

strike! Andre Schurrle. Into the net like a laser. And Stoke City's lead

lasted barely a couple of minutes. Juan Mata with the delivery, half

cleared by the defence, and they then MS shot from Andre Schurrle.

His second of the game. -- venomous shot. The frustration of going ahead

and not hanging onto the lead. Andre Schurrle with the shot, and he

was so unlucky. So close to the hat-trick. Magnificent effort from

the German international. That was a neat, tidy exchange

between Stephen N'Zonzi and Peter Crouch. In towards Stephen Ireland,

and it was a chance. It was not 1 million miles away from a third goal

for Stoke City. Stephen N'Zonzi with the ball in, held up, Stephen

Ireland onside, and the chance goes begging as it is lifted, high over

the bar. Frank Lampard looking for Demba Ba,

challenged by Ryan Shawcross. He looks in vain at Jonathan Moss, the

referee. Nothing doing. Chelsea with the chance to break, through

Ramires. Eden Hazard, still going. Samuel Eto'o with a little touch. It

was agonisingly out of reach for Asmir Begovic, and agonisingly past

the post for Chelsea. Almost finding a way through. For quite awhile that

first half, this team looked like running away with this game.

Stephen Ireland did not manage to stop the move. And now it is Stephen

Ireland two has got the ball. Oussama Assaidi wants it. Peter

Crouch working hard to stay onside, and what a goal, what a winner, for

Stoke City. One minute ago, hardly any time for Chelsea to come back.

-- one minute to go. The Britannia Stadium goes absolutely mad. Oussama

Assaidi delayed substitute, wins the day, surely. What a finish! And it

was beyond the reach of Petr Cech, as we prepare to go into added time

at the end of the game. It is all worth it sometimes. He has

not had much to cheer about in the last few weeks, but he enjoyed that.

Juan Mata cannot get there first. Frank Lampard with the ball up. Juan

Mata, and that is won by Wilson Thomas just, and that is it. Stoke

City beat Chelsea in the league for the first time since 1975. And

Chelsea lose away from home for the third time this season, the fifth

time away that they have dropped points, and Stoke City have beaten

Chelsea 3-2. It was a great response from each and every one of the guys

today, it was exemplary, and some of the goals were outstanding, for both

sides. Chelsea asked a lot of questions but I felt that we had a

threat and I enjoyed the game. I thought it was end to end. Happy to

come out of a positive result. When we play such good football like we

did in the first half, we have to score goals, and we didn't. We only

scored one goal, not by a striker, but by a number ten are winger,

whatever you want to call him, and we produce and produce and produce,

and we do not score enough goals in relation to the production and

quality of football. When we get the three points against Chelsea,

everyone is very happy. And it gives us confidence for the future. We are

not used to seeing Chelsea conceding three calls. No. What do you want me

to say but you not to criticise individually the mistakes of my

players? I cannot do it. How much did you need this as a team, after a

difficult spell than the past couple of months? We have only had one

defeat in the last six games. We have not won as many as we possibly

deserve, but everybody understands, and relates to what we are trying to

do. We are trying to change the way we play. And I think people saw Matt

today. -- saw that. They have waited a long time to beat

Chelsea and it was a special way to do it. Yes, in the first half, too

many long balls up to Peter Crouch. There was no support. He was not

winning the headers. It was like Stoke City last season. Charlie Adam

goes off with an injury, and he brings on Stephen Ireland, who had

such an influence on the game. Here, he timed his run a bit better.

This is a fantastic move. This is the move of the game. Stephen

Ireland and Peter Crouch linking again as they did all afternoon.

Great chest control, and Stephen Ireland should have done better.

This is the goal. I think it was a foul, Jonathan Walters, but still,

he drives into the box, great will to Stephen Ireland, and what a

finish. He just bends that into the bottom corner. And this is the

winning goal. Stephen Ireland tries to take one to the team, to bring

him down, good refereeing. The ball breaks, a bit of luck, but there was

nobody for Chelsea in that area. And just watch this for a finish. He cut

inside. How that. -- have that. And they deserve that for the

second-half performance. Huge credit to Mark Hughes. Chelsea look

particularly fragile from set pieces. It is not like Jose

Mourinho's team. They conceded three set pieces at Sunderland on

Wednesday and again here today. The goalkeeper causes confusion in

between all his players. When you have got all of them who are all six

foot plus, one of them has to take responsibility and at the moment

none of them are and that is why they are conceding so many goals.

You can blame the defenders, but it is an interesting stat. No Chelsea

striker has scored in the league away from home for Chelsea this

calendar year, it is extraordinary stuff. Which is why Jose Mourinho

wanted Wayne Rooney at the beginning of this season. Will he be in the

hunt? He has got to be. Manchester united's defeat mid week was the

fourth in their campaign. Newcastle were the visitors to Old Trafford

today where they have not won 441 years. Guy Mowbray was watching.

Manchester United may be missing Wayne Rooney today, but Robin van

Persie is fit and straight back in. It may quell some gossip about his

apparent unrest at the club. Tim Krul's superb form is attracting

plenty of attention and earned him the accolade of the Player of the

Month in September. With such change having happened at Manchester

United, teams are thinking now is the time to have a go.

That was the best attacking move of the game so far. Newcastle defended

that well enough to prevent a really clear chance opening up.

Down goes Fernandez that there does not look to be anything untoward in

the challenge to be honest. He does not touch him. There is nothing in

that at all. Fernandez, to be honest, is looking for it.

That is a big saves, especially at this stage of the game. He has had

precious little to do, but was on guard when he had to be. The name of

David De Gea is echoing around Old Trafford now. That is the second

save in a matter of moments for him to have to make. But we have had a

flurry of excitement just before the break. David Moyes is shouting that

he wants them to charge through the middle. A good save from Tim Krul.

He had to hold it with Hernandez ready to pounce. To Manchester

United chances and to save made by Tim Krul. Fernandez was onside,

just, he timed the run right. Tim Krul got himself in the right shade.

Manchester United have two chances in the second half. I make that one

more than they had in the whole of the first half.

Anita is in his way and he is staying there. Moussa Sissoko is a

much bigger unit. As soon he moves in you are falling. He was winning

that one at all costs. Manchester United were scheming forehands.

Everyone is having a go at it and in the middle of it Tim Krul has

managed to get on the ball. Anita was on the post where he needed to

be. It comes off the post and onto his arm. A great leap from Patrice

Evra. A good move from Williamson. He did not know much about that. If

a penalty had been awarded, it would have been in the harsh category.

More frustration for David Moyes. That is Yohan Cabaye. On the hour

mark keystrokes at home. More pressure and more frustration for

the Manchester United manager. There is a long way to go in the game yet,

but has Yohan Cabaye put Newcastle on the way to a first-time win away

to Manchester United in more than 41 years. That was the best option.

There was a desperate touch from Nemanja Vidic. I do not think David

De Gea was getting there anyway. It is a delirious Toon Army. Manchester

United last lost successive home games in the Premier League between

March and May, 2002. Now it is a chance to throw the kitchen sink at

Newcastle United. A flag is up and it will not count.

The assistant referee did not hesitate. It was a good finish, but

in vain. Traditionally there are only so many

of these and opposition team can give away against the Red Devils.

That was missed by everybody in there. They cannot do any more than

this. Nobody was able to apply the finishing touch. It was missed by

everybody. A big day out ruined for young and old. The younger ones will

never have known anything like this. They are nowhere near where they are

used to seeing their team in the Premier League table. Ameobi wins

it. Another corner. This is adding to the frustration. What a happy

journey home it will be. Most of them will never have experienced

this before. A Newcastle United win away to Manchester United for the

first time in over 40 years. We played differently today. I asked

the team to have more control and keep the ball and we did that. We

did not let them get to us. Their biggest threat came on the break,

but my players were outstanding. We needed a goal to get our confidence

to play better. They got a goal and we could have done much better. It

changed the game then. It is difficult for David and the club at

the moment. He is a very good manager and it is important the fans

and the players stick with him. He has already proved he will be great

for the club. But we all have sticky days. Robin van Persie has not had

many games. He needed to come off after 70 minutes maximum, but I

needed to keep him on, we were needing a goal back. For Manchester

United that is three defeats in this campaign at Old Trafford. It was a

very flat atmosphere from the Old Trafford faithful and there was a

lack of invention and a lack of creation. I thought Newcastle were

brilliant. They changed their system today and put another one in

midfield, they put in Anita to make it a five-man midfield and I thought

it was brilliant. They were well worthy of their win. The goal

encapsulated some of the problems Manchester United have at the

moment. The goal has come from the goalkeeper's kick. Tim Krul is going

to launch it up to Yohan Cabaye. There is the back four and there is

the midfield four. He is in the perfect position. It is the space

between the midfield four and the back four. Nemanja Vidic has got to

say, I want you in front of Yohan Cabaye. Yohan Cabaye reacts first.

Tim cleverly has not thought of the danger. Who is he looking at? I do

not know. Loic Remy takes a couple of steps in there. The lack of a

defensive midfielder has cost them. Looking at United, David Moyes talks

about Robin van Persie and denied there were any transfer requests by

him. But he shifted his position and played him a bit deeper. He shifted

his position because of Newcastle because they played five in

midfield. He was flat today. He was feeding on scraps. This is what he

was asked to do when they did not have the ball because of

Newcastle's extra man. Sit on the midfielder and they win the ball

back. Robin van Persie, look at his reaction. That was his job when they

did not have the ball. But when the ball is clear, he should be on the

last man, he is a proper centre forward and gives defenders

nightmares. It is too easy for Newcastle at times because of that.

This is a great example. Admire him for helping out his team, but the

ball gets played out wide and look where he is. He is one of the best

centre forwards around and he should be in there. He is 25 yards away

from the 18-yard box. He is actually in the back four in the second half

because he is not getting a touch up front. This is a magnificent ball

into Hernandez. It is outstanding. Wayne Rooney can do that, not a lot

of other people can do that. There is a lack of invention and creation

in the team at the moment. I know Wayne Rooney is out, and I know

Michael Carrick is out. As for Newcastle they were magnificent at

times. They had a game plan and they stuck to it and it worked. Looe they

brought Anita in and the combination meant that he won the Man of the

Match game. Tiote was fantastic. He won all his tackle. This is what a

defensive minded midfield player does. Against Jones on the front

foot. 50/50 challenge. He looks at him

there. Is that an elbow? I think some referees might give that as a

yellow card. Or red card. Moyes, safe? They gave Alex Fergusson time

at the beginning of his United career. It was always going to be a

difficult time for him because they didn't sign any players in the

summer, and they should have. Four goals in midweek against Norwich

means Liverpool's Luis Suarez now has 13 for the season, one more than

the entire West Ham team who arrived at Anfield today having failed to

score in five of their seven away games so far. Martin Fisher saw this

one. COMMENTATOR: English eyes focussed

on this fella even more than ever before, Roy Hodgson's problem on

June 9th is West Ham's today, Luis Suarez now the Premier League's

leading scorer after his four goal haul here in midweek. West Ham have

Modibo Maiga up front. His last goal came a year ago. The Hammers haven't

scored here in their last five visits. Their last win was in 1963

when Sam Allardyce was in short trousers kicking a tennis ball

around in a playground in Dudley. COMMENTATOR: The touch on him by

Flanagan was firmer. That brings West Ham United the free-kick. In by

Noble, up goes Collins. Skrtel just struggling to get it away. Tomkins

was in an offside position anyway. Not got the best of records as a

manage r here, Sam Allardyce. Maiga's shot. Came off Johnson for

the corner. West Ham's first corner, 14 minutes gone. Collins, Tomkins,

Demel and Maiga looking to attack this. It is curled in by Jarvis.

Easily gathered by Mignolet. Can Liverpool use their speed to hit

West Ham swiftly on the counter. Sterling, two players waiting in the

box, one of them is Hendrie Henderson! Talk about swift counter

attack. Sterling had two targets back post. Henderson almost got

there. It went over the bar rather than underneath it.

Jarvis to his left. Maiga and Downing wait in the centre. There is

Maiga. Fabulouses save by Mignolet. Maiga got everything right about

that header. Lovely ball in from Jarvis. The header was heading home.

Mignolet flies across to keep it out. Liverpool have won their last

four here in a row, scoring 16 goals in the process. The vast majority of

their goals this season have come before the half-time interval.

Gerrard's erant pass. Suarez has got it back from Johnson. Suarez! How

unfortunate, off Demel and into the West Ham net. Luis Suarez had the

shot. I don't think that will go down as his 14th Premier League goal

of the season. Rough justice on West Ham. Johnson fed Suarez, kept out by

Jaaskelainen, it hits the shins of his right back, Demel, he knew

nothing about it. He is not celebrating it, Demel doesn't want

it. That is an OG. Suarez, fouled by Tomkins, strong

challenge through the back of the Uruguayan. The referee choosing to

keep his card in his pocket. Hasn't shown a red card since August 2012,

not adverse to bringing out the yellows. Gerrard's delivery is good.

Back post, Sakho is there. It's in. Another scruffy, scruffy goal.

Martin Skrtel will claim it. James Collins tried to clear it. Either

side of half-time, Liverpool have found two goals that probably gives

Brendan Rodgers three more points. Gerrard's delivery was deep towards

Sakho who helped it back across. Sakho going for goal. Skrtel, the

other centre defender, charged down James Collins' attempt at clearance.

Liverpool now with daylight between themselves and West Ham and really

you cannot see a way back for the visitors now.

Suarez has done well. Gerrard, Hernedson is on the edge if Gerrard

chooses to go that way. Gerrard shooting instead. He might have

pulled his hamstring in process. As soon as the block came in, Gerrard

pulled up. You saw him signal to the bench.

McCar any is looking for Maiga. It might drop here for Kevin Nolan.

Demel. Jarvis. Back into the mix. Skrtel, own-goal. He scored one at

Hull a couple of weeks ago. Maybe there is a way back for West Ham

United yet. Their first attack really of this second-half. Demel's

delivery. Jarvis does well to put it back in the mix. Before Maiga could

get to it, Skrtel did and made a better fist of beating the Liverpool

goalkeeper. Renewed hope for West Ham United.

Demel, blocked by Sakho. He can't prevent the corner. West Ham fans in

that corner of the ground hoping that they might be able to find an

equaliser from somewhere. Suarez can't clear, won by Diame.

This is O'Brien. Now James Collins. Wide by Maiga. How many chances has

he missed? This time it's Liverpool's turn to throw bodies in

the way. Collins chancing his arm. That turned into a fabulous pass for

Maiga. Somehow, from inside the six-yard box, he screws it wide. Not

many of those supporters were around when Liverpool last lost to West Ham

here in the league. It was 1963, September of that year, Liverpool

did in fact go on to win the first division title under Bill Shankley.

Suarez! It had to be. It's not Liverpool at an need unless Luis

Suarez scores this season. That is his 14th Premier League goal of the

campaign. Fabulous delivery from Johnson. Suarez moves in behind

Collins there. Collins defended so brilliantly throughout the

afternoon. Couldn't stretch to get this one away. Suarez timed his run

brilliantly and bullets it past Jaaskelainen. Liverpool have their

two goal cushion again. Surely that is the inof Sam Allardyce's hopes of

going home with anything from Anfield today. 3-1 Liverpool.

Johnson will take this throw. Nolan through the back of him. The referee

wants a word. It's a straight red for Kevin Nolan. Michael Oliver had

a really good view of that. Nolan now goes across to apologise to

Henderson. It was a nasty one. Well spotted by Michael Oliver here. It

through the back of the Liverpool player. Stamps on his calf. Kevin

Nolan sent off. Johnson with the free-kick. Lucas for Allen. Moses.

Henderson, Skrtel still waiting in the box. This is Suarez. Away from

Noble. Suarez going for goal, surely. Deflected, and in! Goals

galore again at Anfield. It definitely took a deflection on its

way through, off O'Brien's shoulder. Jaaskelainen completely

wrong-footed. Off the bar and in. Liverpool's fifth win in a row at

home. They just can't stop scoring at home. Final score at Anfield,

Liverpool four, West Ham United one. I was really pleased with the

reaction when it went to 2-1. We conceded the own-goal, we had

pressure for seven or eight minutes. The reaction after that to get to

the third goal again was outstanding. Most disappointing for

me was conceding the goal so early in the second-half when we showed

good defending work. Injury to Steven Gerrard, what is the news

there? He went to make the pass down that right hand side, he felt a

little tweak there. We need to see how serious it is. It was certainly

a hamstring. Lost your captain now We lost Stewart Downing for a hash

tackle. He will need stitches. I don't disagree with the Kevin

sending off. If that is a sending off, young Flanagan should have been

red carded as well. We should look straight at that and clear it up

straightaway. Sam is not happy about Flanagan not getting a red when

Nolan did. What did you make of it? What saved Flanagan it's after three

minutes. Shouldn't really make any difference. He didn't get any yellow

card or a red card. He has got away with that one there. I mean, 10

years ago you wouldn't look at that all. Sam is right, it's silly off

Kevin, late in the game. The game is gone. Frustration from Nolan,

deserved the red card and will miss three games. Terrible tackle. We had

something of a Suarez watch, trying to help Roy Hodgson and England in

every way we can. It won't help them at all watching this little fella?

He is on a different plan echlt he has been brilliant this season. When

things are going for you, they go for you. Mis controls it there. He

is pointing for the defender to bug James Collins. Thinks he is going to

near-post, he is going to the far-post. Brilliant cross. Great

header, great run. Mesmerising, left foot, right foot. When you are hot,

you are hot, you shoot from anywhere. Joey O'Brien doesn't want

it as an own-goal. He tried to take the shot on. When your luck is in,

your luck is in. Let us hope he gets it out of the way before May. June

even. We are nearly half way, four games

still to come. Three straight defeats have halted

Southampton's early season momentum and it didn't get any easier for

them today with the visit of Manchester City, who are up to third

after scoring 12 goals in their last three games. At St Mary's for us was

Steve Wilson. Italy, not England today as Osvaldo is preferred to

Rickie Lambert up front for Southampton. England's goalkeeper is

on the bench as well, Pantilimon continues in goal. Manchester City

haven't won back-to-back away league games in almost a year.

COMMENTATOR: Osvaldo. Tried to do too much. There were opportunities

ahead of him and opportunities wide. Twice he was caughts in possession.

Falls to Davis. Couple of feet wide. Southampton will be quite buoyed by

the start they have made. They have had their share of possession. They

have had their first site of Pantilimon's goal. They are

consecutive defeats for the manager. Southampton are ten points and ten

places better off than they were at this stage last season when they

still had Nigel Akins in charge. Aguero scores for Manchester City.

Tenth minute of the game. Southampton let it go through two or

three deferned on its way to Sergio Aguero, who didn't require a second

invitation to score. Avoidable from Southampton's point of view.

Clinical from Manchester City's. There are five Southampton red

shirts in there. The ball evades all of them. Aguero, who is in

absolutely deadly form, rattles home another. Southampton just having a

little spell here. Here is Cort. -- Cork. Worth a go. If the keeper had

let that one, in Joe Hart might have been in for the second-half, let

alone the next game. And Sergio Aguero, for once, has

missed. J Rodriguez was slow to react.

You would expect him to hit the target from there.

Dangerous curling ball in, and just wide. Chambers, at the back post.

What a glorious ball from Luke Shaw. The two fullbacks combining for

Southampton. Fabulous polling by Luke Shaw, and Chambers, arriving at

the back post, could not quite convert. Two 18-year-old fullbacks

nearly opening up Manchester City. Suddenly, Southampton have got

Manchester City by the scruff of the neck. That had to be timed to a tee,

and it was, by Josie font. -- Jose Fonte. Osvaldo turns inside Vincent

Kompany, and what I call, that is absolutely brilliant! -- what a

goal. ?15 million he cost from Roma, and that is the best thing he has

done for Southampton. It is sensational from Dani Osvaldo,

fantastic goal. How many times did he beat Vincent Kompany? And then,

inch perfect, over the top of the goalkeeper, who is six foot eight,

remember. That is a special moment. As good a goal as you will see. And

we have seen some very good ones this season, but that is right up

there. Southampton one, Manchester City one.

Good run by James Milner. The ball in, just too high for the Greco,

great first touch and then over the bar from Samia nursery. -- just too

high for Alvaro Negredo. The first touch from Samia Nazarene

was delightful, the second was wayward. -- from Samia

good saved by Gazzaniga. That was well hit by Aguero. Gazzaniga made

the save and make sure the ball was heading away from goal after it. --

made sure. Yaya Toure. That had a few people

wondering where it was going. " as for the season with that. It was

curling in towards goal, but not quite into the goal.

Manchester City are off to buy a Munich in the week, they go with

qualification assured in the Champions League. -- to buy a

Munich. -- Bayern Munich. What a waste! Dani Osvaldo, it should have

been 2-1, Southampton. How can you score so sensationally with a chance

so difficult in one half, but then missed so wildly with a chance so

inviting in the second? Rodriguez running NBI and Zabaleta.

And Dani Osvaldo. -- running NBI and the freak kick has been given. --

free kick. Aleksandar Kolarov did not ink that was a foul. Adam

Lallana went down a couple of strides after the contact. James

Ward-Prowse to take this for Southampton. Great delivery. And

that was a foot from Vincent Kompany. Southampton are

protesting. I thought this game of the foot of Vincent Kompany. That is

a brilliant piece of defending, absolutely fantastic. Manchester

City will be happy to draw this game. I am happy with the point, I

think both teams deserved the point. It was a very close match.

All the teams are taking a lot of points from the other, I think it

was a logical result. We believe in our philosophy, we keep doing what

we do. And the Lord came at the end of the first half with a great goal

by Dani Osvaldo, who had been working well. Showing some signs of

genius. We have been persevering with Dani Osvaldo, and he showed

that he has got the quality and skill to do what he did today. It is

not easy to adapt to this league but he has done that and today, he has

shown that. It is important not to lose, and today, we did that. And

other teams can drop some points. I tell you what, I get excited

watching Southampton. In particular, the young English players. I was

impressed with Adam Lallana and look sure. Adam Lallana is making a good

case to be in the squad for Brazil. In the team. His first thought is,

can I get at the defence? Defenders hate running towards their goal, and

he makes them do it. Great first touch. Yaya Toure tries to take him

down. His pace, again, getting at the back four. And it creates and

opens spaces for his colleagues. This time he chooses not to drive at

them but that is a great piece of skill. And Manchester City get away

with that. I mentioned the youngster, 18-year-old Luke Shaw,

what a future this kid has got in the game. His first thought is,

getting the ball in the box, and for a centre forward knowing that the

wide players are going to do that makes the job easier, because you

can gamble as a forward. What about this for a cross? First touch,

second touch, whipping it in. And Chambers at the far post should

actually score. What about this for a touch? Great touch. Again, he is

playing with such composure. This World Cup might come a little bit

too early for him, but if he keeps going, you never know, if Leighton

Baines or Ashley Cole gets injured, I'm sure that Roy Hodgson has got

him in his plans, because he has got a great future. We had a social

media boat during the game about which you think is better, Suarez or

Aguero, both world-class centre forwards. They are both world-class.

I would have to say Suarez, because of the way he has reacted this

season, 14 goals in ten games. He missed the first five through

suspension. Luis Suarez for me. I will take them both. Time for a

stat. Sunderland have hit the fewest shots on target this season in the

league while Spurs have the lowest shot conversion rate. They do shoot

a lot though. Always the optimist expecting a

games. Sunderland may crack in my changes including the return of

Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson to the starting line-up. Defensive

Hugo Lloris punished in the worst possible fashion, and Sunderland in

front, eight minutes before half-time. The cross from Ondrej

Celustka. Hugo Lloris will not want to see that again. And Adam Johnson

drilled it past them, emphatically, for his first Premier League goal of

the season. And it could be priceless for Sunderland. The Spurs

there first, to stab at home. Sunderland will feel that they could

manages to get that in, and it has gone in, John O'Shea cannot believe

it. Neither can Vito Mannone. A little drop of the shoulder. And as

the cross came in, it came off the boot of John O'Shea, and deceived

the goalkeeper. And Spurs, for the first time, and front with a stroke

Sunderland, defending in numbers. Josey Altidore, comfortably

Can Alan Lennon keep that in? He can, it was dangerous, and of the

post for Jermaine Defoe. He thought he had made it 3-1. And that was how

very good week. It started in December with Manchester United and

we have picked up seven points in December following our difficult

week and it is extremely important for us. We have finally got some

confidence back into the team and hopefully we can look into the

future with the satisfaction of going into it positively. I am doing

my best and convincing the players how important it is to do the basics

every day, in every single game. And so far it has not been good enough,

simple as that. Was there a concern you did not score that third goal?

It was a good chance, but the most important now by the points. If

people keep believing this is luck, they are very naive. We have got

very important games coming up, so we need strong characters on the

pitch. With that you can compete and defend.

You expect much and they have got a long way to go. It was only a few

It is the first time in 16 games there has been a different

centre-half pairing for the Baggies. Changes were inevitable for Norwich.

Gary Hooper is the club's top scorer with four. Whittaker and Turner come

in at the back. And Hooper 's scorers. That is what

he has been doing throughout his career. Scunthorpe and Celtic fans

will tell you, give him a side of the opposition's net and he will

score. He gets his third Premier League goal and shows exactly why he

was such a valued member of Celtic's Champions League attempts

in the past. A regular scorer in Scotland, now starting to find his

scoring touch in the English Premier League. 82 goals in 136 at Celtic

and that is not a bad record to take to England. They have scored in

seven of the last eight games. That was a good stop. A nice

exchange on the edge of the Norwich area. The shot was travelling, but

John Ruddy's positioning was good. This is much better from West Brom.

That was rifling into the roof of the net. John Ruddy got two hands to

it to claw it away. Much better from Victor and HA Bay.

He has just signed a new contract and he has created a buzz. Was there

and are in there? It looks as though there might have been.

It is debatable whether he intended to do it, but without it, it might

have snuck in the corner. He may have been a bit fortunate to

have found it at his feet, but once he got into that position, 99 times

out of 100 he would have put it into the goal. John Ruddy had to go one

way or the other and he went to his right. Somehow Norwich are still in

front. The more you look at it, the more you are perplexed. How did he

miss it? Managers are often judged on their substitutions and he has

been positive and he has made two at half-time and the response has been

immediate and his side should really be level.

He is so disappointed with himself for not putting that in. He was

probably three feet over. No wonder both managers are like on hot cold,

they cannot settle. John Ruddy closed his legs on it in

time. He did well because he could have been nutmeg. He closed his legs

like a pair of scissors just in the nick of time. It is just one of

those days it seems for Steve Clarke. A shrug of the shoulders as

if to say, we are doing everything but score.

That was so clean. John Ruddy hurled himself at it, but he knew he could

not get to it. He cannot relax yet, that is for sure.

A good save by John Ruddy. He moved from the centre to the corner of his

net and clawed it away. This second half is relentless. There has hardly

been an opportunity to draw breath. And they have done it. Chris Hughton

can celebrate. Leroy Fer has confirmed that after all those

disappointing awaydays, seven at Manchester city, five at Liverpool,

for defeat in a row on their travels, that run is going to come

to an end with a victory at the Hawthorns. Leroy Fer with the

second, doubling the advantage. They may have ridden their luck along the

way, but you cannot fault their efforts or endeavours and he

deserves that change of fortune. Well done, Norwich. It was a game

with first goal was always going to be critical in terms of confidence

for the team who got it. Norwich got it and they were able to sit in a

little bit. We took a big risk at half-time and we created a number of

chances in the second half. We had to get the game to 1-1 with the we

had. I spoke to the Norwich manager Chris Hughton.

Thank you very much for talking to us. It was almost an old-fashioned

6-point in a way. It was also one of those old-fashioned battles against

a side that in the end were playing with five forward to try to get back

in the game and consequently we were able to catch them on the counter.

But a real tough game and I am happy because of the response after

midweek. You have bounced back which must show you have character in the

side. It shows character in the side and we are delighted with the clean

sheet. This was a very good side and they had very good defensive

options. We knew we had to try to keep a clean sheet and be a bit more

solid. If I look at midweek, you come up against a side and an

individual and it is not your day. We made errors midweek and there is

no doubt about that, but sometimes you have to put that aside and we

look forward to the next game. Two of your new signings scored the

goals and you must be delighted with their progress. They are both

getting stronger. It has been difficult for Gary Hooper because he

got injured at the wrong time, one week before the season. Being a

striker yourself, you will see some of the qualities he has got. But

with any striker if they get a run of games in the team they will score

goals. I am delighted for Gary. Leroy founded tough midweek against

quality and he has come up trumps again with a goal. Your goalkeeper

was outstanding. I am really pleased for John, the fact he has become a

regular in the England squad and he is there on merit and today you saw

the reason why. Congratulations. It was an excellent reaction to a

midweek pounding from Luis Suarez to come and win that game and keep a

clean sheet. Norwich pushed everything at them. I

was surprised with West Brom with leaving Long out. They had a lot of

possession. They are in a sticky spell at this moment in time. They

have won one in nine. Norwich, you are absolutely right, great

character. They did get a thrash on Wednesday. They have reacted very

well. Redmond into Fer, his three signings, good ball from Fer to

this season have come under three different managers after Tony Pulis

opened his account against West Ham in midweek. Today they took on

Cardiff as the two sides met for the first time in the top flight of

English football. John Roder was at Selhurst Park. The midweek victory

over West Ham has given Palace a huge boost. The Eagles will move

within a point of Cardiff if they defeat the Welsh side today. Chamakh

got the winner here against West Ham on Tuesday.

really dominated the game and deserved to win. Concerned are you

of the lack of goals of late from your team Not particularly in terms

of overall how the boys are. You have to be clinical and take your

chances when they come. If we weren't creating chances I would be

more worried. I have people there that I know can score goals.

Overall, it's about us getting back on to it again and just being

clinical in that final third. Today's match day programme you have

been keen to set the record straight and can you do so again today that

you didn't have a fall out with him? No, the press are the press, they
