In added time here at Wembley. The moment that will clinch the first

trophy for nine years for Arsene Wenger. Arsenal have won the FA Cup.

Good evening. It was a happy trip to Wembley Stadium. Just three months

ago for Arsenal, finally ending that long wait for a major trophy. Now

they are back looking to add another, taking on the Premier

League champions, Manchester City. Both sides will be looking to get

the momentum going ahead of this weekend's big Premier League kick

off. So let's join our commentary team of Martin Keogh I

off. So let's join our commentary team of don't know and Steve Wilson

-- Keown and Steve Wilson. You can never win too many trophies

at Wembley. Arsenal and Manchester City are likely to be

shoulder-to-shoaleder in the hunt for more silverware this season. The

FA Community Shield supported by McDonalds is a good way to start.

None of Arsenal's three German World Cup winners or Manchester City's

three Argentine runners up are here. But FA Cup winners Arsenal can

unveil Sanchez, Debuchy and Chambers making debuts and Sanogo is

preferred to Giroud upfront. He scored four against Benfica in

pre-season. Champions City have not included

Kompany, Lampard or former Arsenal fullback, Sagna in their squad. Joe

Hart doesn't make the team. Pelgreeny has two number one

keepers, he says, if that makes sense and Caballero gets the

Northwest nod today. Jovetic has scored five in

pre-season and starts alongside Dzeko.

not even in a Manchester City kit but it's strange seeing him in a

mood. It was Clichy's pass that got his team in trouble.

by the referee because he could have given a free kick here. Intricate

would have been absolutely brilliant. Sublime play from

Arsenal. Through-ball to Sanogo. Hits it early. Only thing he doesn't

do is put it in the back of the net. And he's disappointed. Navas.

have a free kick. They did ever so well. Just that counterattack,

Chambers there, getting down on the right hand side. That little

question mark, when Arsenal are attacking, it's about leaving the

right numbers back to be able to deal with that. Manchester City seem

to be realising the opportunity. Fernando. Toure. Nasri. Kolarov.

Dangerous. Wilshere. Sanchez. Wilshere is down.

Arran Ramsey doubles Arsenal's lead. On the counterattack and Arsene

Wenger's side are two to the good. Brilliant from Ramsey. Look at the

distance he covers. Sanchez holding it, waiting for him. Sanogo stay on

side. Uses his power and strength, Sanogo. Hook at the patience, waits

for his chance, he's really punished Man City there. Sanogo holding up

nicely. Lovely little flick there from Ramsey. Lifts it over the top

here. Caballero did ever so well for Manchester City. Sanchez watched

that one-in. Unbelievable. Great ball from Sanogo. Times his run and

all credit to the keeper because he has to get to that. He's done ever

Toure. Dzeko. Lovely first touch to Silva, looking for Navas. Important

header from Monreal. Navas was in behind but City asking a few

questions. Clichy. Silva. No surprise if Silva inspired City to

better things. Toure. Monreal's already been busy in a few moments

Delayed his tackle on Toure. You can already see Manchester City

have improved since half time. Navas. Was he fouled by Giroud? No.

Oliver, is having words with Fernando. That's the first yellow

card coming out. He's just pulled Wilshere back.

Absolutely no need. He can have no complaints. Look at this. Puts an

arm on his shoulder. Fernando actually served a 12-month

international ban in 2007 for assaulting a referee at the South

American under 20 Championships. Another free kick here for Jovetic

or Wilshere. Wilshere tends to draw these fouls out of opponents. Late

releasing the ball. That's why he's got so many injuries over the years.

for handball against Fernando. Again it's happening so quickly.

forward finding Silva. Toure. Navas. Too high for Dzeko. Attacked at the

back post and it's off the post from Jovetic and the rebound is wide. Hit

the wood work. Jovetic has had a very good pre-season. Getting on the

end of this. Powerful header. I think it's a great save in the end.

Maybe it did hit the post. Nice touch from Silva. Yeovil touch.

problem for Arsenal. -- Jovetic. Look at that. That is as good a save

that. Szczesny got there and it's a goal kick. Going to be a double

substitution here for Manchester City. Milner is coming on, number 7,

and less familiar to you will be number 36, Bruno Zucullini,

21-year-old Argentine signed from a club for ?3 million. He's been

involved in pre-season and done well. His brother plays for Bologna,

his older brother, Franco. Giroud. Good try. Fantastic goal

from Giroud. He's answered a few critics with

that one. Who said I wasn't fit, that is what he is saying.

Unbelievable. He's got no right to score from there. Incredible finish.

Look at this. A real opportunist effort. Gives himself space.

Fantastic shot. The power and swerve on it. Taken a little deflection I

think just as he hits this. Nastasic coming across, I think it just

flicked off Nastasic's foot. The keeper is flailing after that. It's

a wonderful finish. Perfect for his confidence. Arsenal 3, Manchester

City 0. Clichy. Zucullini. Silva. Lovely

typical Silva turn. Zucullini almost on to it, but Arteta can find

Wilshere who wriggles through too. Wilshere picking himself up. I think

he'll be OK. 3-0 to Arsenal. This is nearer to Wenger's first choice 11

than it is to Pellegrini's. Navas to Silva. Definitely. I still feel

there will be a reaction from City. Clichy's ball in.

It's good for their confidence to win a game like this. If they lose,

it's part of pre-season. The overhead kick doesn't come off. Is

it the end of pre-season or the beginning of the season. I suppose

the answer is, it depends if you win or not. Exactly. The emphatic

message if it stays like this, the three Germans aren't even here and

you are 3-0 up against the champions.

Boyata for Manchester City who've now accepted the inevitable.

Zucullini. Looking for Sinclair. Picked up by Silva. Sinclair. Not

much of an angle. Put behind for a corner. Debuchy's got a bit of

cramp. Scored a hat trick here for Swansea many the play-off finals.

Put it just wide. It's a tremendous leap. Just over

the top of Szczesny. Probably the only thing he's done wrong. Just

hesitated. Lucky not to be punished. The two of them climbed. Came off

the back of Boyata's head, rather than Richards'. Zucullini forward.

Sinclair and Szczesny had to use his head, literally. The refer yes's

whistle has denied Manchester City the chance to do something with the

follow-up, but Szczesny here is down. Fantastic run from Sinclair.

Lovely run, gets there first and not sure Sinclair's done a lot wrong

there. Maybe he caught Szczesny. Szczesny would appear to be OK. A

couple of added minutes on to what was already added time. Chambers

will take the free kick for his keeper.

Oxlade-Chamberlain to Flamini. Gibbs. Monreal.

Off side on the far side. Zucullini for Manchester City who've

been well beaten today. I think it was the way they started the game,

second half they were a lot better. It was the first half display where

Arsenal moved the ball beautifully well. Sanchez in his right position

moving well for his team. Debuchy. Fernando clipping it away.

Milner. Gibbs. Nastasic. Clichy. And the

2014 FA Community Shield has been won by Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

The FA Cup winners beat the Premier League champions and deservedly so.

Arsenal good value for their victory. Cazorla with the first,

Ramsey with the second and Giroud with a beautiful third. It's been a

very good performance from the Gunners, Martin Keown, and having

ended that nine-year trophy drought with the FA Cup last May, they'll be

very happy to make it two. Without doubt that takes Arsene Wenger now

on into a new season. He looks five years younger looking at him winning

the FA Cup. It will be a nice photograph with the two trophies

this year beneath his feet. It finishes at Wembley in the FA

Community Shield supported by McDonald's. Arsenal 3, Manchester

City 0. Aaron Ramsey, you must love this

place, another Wembley goal? Yes, we want to play here every week, we've

scored in the final and again today. So we are delighted with that. It

put us in a good position going into the league now. What is the feeling

like in the squad? Is there a feeling that you have a squad

capable for winning a big massive title? I believe so. We came close

last year, we knead to improve from last season against the big teams a

way from home. We'll learn our lesson from last year and you will

see a different Arsenal in the away games and I reckon we'll be there or

thereabouts at the end. That's a big marker isn't it, beating Manchester

City. Some may say it's only the Community Shield but you have beaten

the Premier League champions? Absolutely. We come here preparing

the right way, didn't treat it as a friendly, as a proper game, and we

managed to to that and come out and win the game 3-0. Mikel, many

congratulations, in many ways the perfect start to your season? Yes,

at Wembley we wanted to start the season very strong as we finished

and it's a good start against a top team. To win 3-0 here it's a special

day. Made a terrific signing in Sanchez. What difference has he made

around the place? Well, I think he creates momentum. You can notice the

difference straightaway. He brings pace, experience and skill. The

other teams will be scared of him. Your manager says you are a better

side than last year. Do you get the feeling that you are potential title

contenders this season? We have to be. The other teams have signed some

top players, so it's going to be one of the most exciting Premier Leagues

in years. We are ready for it and want to challenge all the teams. Not

a bad start to your Arsenal career, got your hands on silverware? I

know. To get nit the first competitive game, it's an amazing

game, especially at Wembley. More of this for the coming year. What is

the feeling like in the club? Can you go on from this? You've won the

FA Cup and now the Community Shield. General title contenders? Yes, this

team's got great bunches of players and there's great team spirit. We

are all doing really well so we'll go into every game and give it our

best. You have got some tremendous fight for places, haven't you? The

World Cup winners coming back soon, Walcott is coming back, it's a squad

capable of winning a major title? It's a strong squad. Competition for

places is a good thing. It will make everyone want to play better and get

in the team next week, so yes, I think we have got a strong team this

year. You have slotted in nicely and looked like you enjoyed it? I did.

Everyone's welcomed me and I can't thank them enough for that. So Mikel

Arteta walks up the steps. Arsenal who didn't win a bean from 20005 to

2014, but who ended that drought on 17th May, here at Wembley beating

Hull City in the FA Cup final and who are back, just a few weeks'

later to receive the FA Community Shield, supported by McDonald's, and

to receive it from a man who knows all about Arsenal Football Club,

from Pat Wright. A life-long association with the

Gunners. He has done it all and seen it all. But you don't -- I don't

remember him ever presenting a trophy to Arsenal before. He has

received a view and Pat Rice congratulates each one of those red

and white shirted players. And hands the FA Community Shield to Mikel

Arteta and Arsenal start season 2014/2015 in style with broad smiles

and with silverware. The FA Community Shield belongs to Arsenal.

Many congratulations. In many ways, the perfect start. A fantastic

display. We played well, especially in the first half and we defended

very well. We had good variation in our attacking display. The second

half, we couldn't sustain physically completely what we did in the first

but we kept great togetherness and great desire to fight together.

Disappointing start to the season. Well, it is not the start of the

season. Maybe it is the end of the last season because we are now in

pre-season and the squad is not - the starting 11 today is not our

normal starting 11. We have one week more to work. So the season starts

next Sunday. I think it is always good to win this game, to win the

Communtiy Shield but Arsenal played better than us, the first half

especially. And they scored two goals. The second half we had

possession and chances to score but we didn't. Some will say it is only

the Communtiy Shield but the big plus for you, Arsne, is you have

beaten Manchester City, the Premier League champions. Yes, it is always

the same. If you lose it, people say to you - you have lost a trophy. If

you win it, it is only the Communtiy Shield. We have to live with that.

It was an important game for us, in our mind and we won it, so that's

all I can say. Of can dent of retaining your title -- confident?

Of course. We know always the Premier League is a tough league,

whether you have five or six strong squads in the league -- where you

have five or six. They have a chance to win the title

but I think we have a stronger team than last year. We hope we can

repeat but that we can demonstrate on the pitch and in the talking. How

excited are you about this season? Suddenly you have a squad that's

talented, a squad surely capable of winning the Premier League? Look,

I'm excited and cautious as well because, you know, as well,

football, as I know, I have a lot of experience and it is a good basis,

you know, but mathematically, of course, we want to win the Premier

League and we have a desire to do it but we are conscious as well that

there are many, many good teams in the league and let's just focus on

the next one and then try to be consistent. So Arsenal lift the

Communtiy Shield for the first time since 2004. Fantastic array of

talent on display at Wembley this afternoon and a fantastic line-up

this evening. Good evening to Tony Pulis, Brad Friedel and Martin

Keown. Arsene Wenger says he is excited about the new season, he has

every right to be after today? They played well. The first half they

deserved to be 2-0 up. Second half, I thought Man City came into T David

Silva came on and made a difference. -- I thought Man City came into it.

But when Olivier Giroud scored the goal, the game died. I think City

took their foot off the pedal and Arsenal did. Arsenal deserved to

win. Brad, disappointed with Manchester City? Well, I was more

impressed with Arsenal. I thought Karzai, Sanchez and Wilshere and

Ramsey in the first half, Man City's back half couldn't deal with them. I

thought Chambers was composed. He looked good. The pressing, the

energy, everything was better from Arsenal. Man City didn't know what

to do. Yaya Toure go the frustrated. As Tony said, in the second half

when they brought in Silva, he was getting into pockets, they started

to get forward. They desperately needed a goal to make it 2-1 when

Giroud made it 3-0, that killed off the game. Let's look at the goals.

I was surprised Man City never matched them up. They played 4-4-2

and Navas and Nasri didn't track back. Arsenal occupy their back four

with their three forwards. The two wide players come off the line and

pull right in time. You you have to narrow your back four N Arsenal

pushed the two fullbacks on and almost played like wingbacks. They

had five almost upfront. And then Toure and Fernando were picking up

them. Man City never got to grips with it.

It will be interesting if Pellegrini sticks with two strikers. That was

what won them the lead. But today their midfield couldn't get on the

ball. Just against the better teams, who keep the ball well, if you get

outnumbered in midfield, I think you always have a problem. I think he

has to lock at that, especially when they play the top teams in Europe.

Brad, Olivier Giroud, you often wonder how play letters react after

coming off the World Cup but he came on and scored a great goal. He Z it

was aided by deflection. -- he Z substitution came on. We were

talking about the formation, out of nothing, Giroud touches it to his

left T gets -- left. It gets deflected a bit over Caballero. He

didn't vch else to do in that second half but once the third goal went

in, game over. The game was lost by Man City in the first half. They

didn't take it seriously enough. It shows you, even if you champions and

you are way better, you will get punished. Arsenal started well. The

fullbacks were getting out nicely. Debuchy had a game, Chambers at the

back. What about that for confidence playing in a gym of that size and

the enormity. -- a gym. If you play with two upfront, and getting

outnumbered there is nothing wrong with one striker coming up. When

David Silva came up, they floated into the middle and got more joy

going forward. In the first half they stuck with the two upfront and

Arsenal possessed the ball for 45 straight minutes. I have to ask you

about Alexis Sanchez. He was fantastic for Chile in the World

Cup. When you have a player of his ability, surely it makes you Premier

League title contenders. If you look at Arsenal, Cazorla and Giroud

haven't got the pace that the top players who played for Arsenal had

before. Sanchez joining the group now, he brings that pace and when

you get Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain fit, that'll

cause teamses. And you have your -- teams problems. And you have your

World Cup players. Yes when I was looking at the squads, and you were

talking about who Man City and Arsenal were going to buy and you

see who is on the Beverly and on the bench and then you have Podolski and

others to come. I'm not sure they have too much more to purchase. I

thought Chambers' positioning was excellent. I will leave that to you,

being ex- na. Chambers, you are right. Coming in showing promise. I

personally feel a deep-lying midfield player to slot n someone

with the pace that Toure has in there. You want that pace in and

around you. But I look at the progression of some of these

players. Ramsey now, he is really looking a top, top player. The

biggest compliment I can pay him, he is almost as good as Fabregas was

when he left. He is the glue in the team. Excellent. Sanchez comes off

the line. Doesn't play down the middle but when he does, it is

difficult. It will be interesting to see how Palace will cope with him.

Sanogo is getting tidier, progressing as a player and is a

thorn in the opposition's side. Before Arsenal fans get ahead of

themselves, they have a tricky opening fixture against Crystal

Palace, are you ready for them? Tony? I thought they were

magnificent today. Are you ready? Obviously it will be a tough game

for us. After today's result they will be full of confidence. We have

nothing to lose. Everybody will expect Arsenal to win, so we will go

there and give it our best. Thank you very much. So the Premier League

Southampton and if you saw Spain play, it has been - we start with a

West Ham team that we lost three times to last year, so we are going

to want to put that right. It is interesting what he did at

Southampton where he has made the careers of such young players. He

has arrived at a club, lots of new signings, can he turn you into a

really good team? The answer to that is, yes, I think he K I think he has

started 234 training. I think his tactical approach -- he has started

in training. His tactical approach, very authoritative. Interesting, I

think Spurs will go well. I don't think you will get into the top

four, but I think you will go some way it playing better than last

year. I think we will be very close to that. We'll have a little side

wagers. Tony, how excited are you by the new season? You have made good

signings. We stillville work to do and need to do work -- we still have

a bit of work to do. The squad needs strengthening but it is always

exciting the week before the first game of the Premier League season.

The honour to go to the Emirates and play against a great side, great

manager, great Football Club, Arsenal. One of the great football

clubs in the world. We are looking forward to it. Realistically, can

Arsenal win the Premier League? I think it will be tough. They are

spending big money now. I think Man City, really, though, go in as the

favourites. Chelsea, there is a lot of stuff there, players coming in.

Man City are the favourites. Arsenal might push another place above.
