We start with Martin's former club, Arsenal, who travelled

to White Hart Lane for the most eagerly anticipated

Despite those midweek defeats, both teams remain in touching

distance of Leicester and a win for Spurs would take them top,

the rich history between these two, that might be taking they hype a

first time in the league 11 for Mohamed Elneny and David Ospina,

what a game to come in with two with Petr Cech ruled out. -- what a game

to come into. Kane helped it on, helped it on beautifully to Lamela.

down on a scar called you might have Spurs slightly ahead. Arsene

Wenger's 48 game against Spurs as Arsenal manager. For Mauricio

Pochettino, it's only his fifth north London derby.

A good challenge by Gabriel. Des Walker, there's Lamela, that's a

really good safe by Ospina. Lightning quick reactions. The

biggest moment of the match so far. Lamela used the pace of the ball

across. Ospina was quick enough as well.

He has lost it, then gets his hands on the ball to get it back. The

referee is quite happy for Spurs to get on with it, and now he'll bring

it back and give them a free kick for hand ball and yellow card

Coquelin as well. The presence of Alli and Dyer was too much for him,

he took the laws and the ball into his own hands, quite early, although

a defensive mid -- it's quite early for a defensive midfielder to be on

a caution. Well back, teeing up Bellerin maybe. What a finish that

is, a brilliant goal from Aaron Ramsey. That is so well taken.

Arsenal make the first breakthrough on derby day. That is the away end

of White Hart Lane. That is the only end jumping for now. It was a

Tottenham tackle, that directed the ball into Danny Welbeck's Pask, a

really good spot from Danny Welbeck and Bellerin but what about the

finish. Facing away from goal, Aaron Ramsey, quick thinking, instinct and

control. Arsenal have control. Tottenham Hotspur nil, Arsenal won.

Nothing in the game other than the Arsenal goal, that's the important

part at the break, it seems. Mertesacker won it, couldn't turn it

Gabriel's way. Kane brought down by Coquelin. Coquelin is on a booking.

And as Michael Oliver gone to his pocket? I think he has. Yes, the

yellow card is out. And so is the red. And Arsenal might have a goal

advantage, but with a long time to go in the game Spurs have a man

advantage. Potentially a game changer. In trouble the moment he

went down the slide, as soon as Kane touched it away, you knew what was

going to come. There have been questions asked recently of Arsene

Wenger's team and their ability to really scrap. Now, they have to.

Alli's shot, deflected wide. A Spurs corner. Spurs really coming at ten

men Arsenal now. In from Lamela, flicked across. A great save,

Ospina. Kane is claiming it went over the line. He is behind the line

there, now, of course the technology is place. How desperately close is

that? That is as close as they come. There's just that tiny portion of

the ball that is not over the line, enough to keep Arsenal in front.

Room for Rose on the left if Dembele can hold it, and he can. It's Danny

Welbeck who is chasing after Rose. Elneny's header, and Ospina hasn't

managed to keep it in. A Spurs corner.

Eriksen delivers. Lamela went for it. Over the line now, for what old

-- for Alderweireld. Spurs level. And going for the Gunners. Lamela

went for it, and it broke very kindly for Alderweireld. He finished

more like a centre forward than a centre-back, buried it. His third

Spurs goal. Surely the one that has meant the most so far. Spurs one,

Arsenal one. Mertesacker was beaten to it by

Alli. Kane, what a goal, that's an incredible strike by Harry Kane!

Total turnaround. We've talked about hunger, Dele Alli demonstrated it

there. He chased down Mertesacker. He kept the ball in and Harry Kane

did the rest. And then some! Kane had one look up, hit it, curled it,

Ospina is nowhere near it. Three or four minutes ago, Arsenal's world

had started to rock but still looked solid enough. Now the ten men are

down. Spurs two, Arsenal one. Walker going hell for leather down

the outside. Kane, a shooting chance, just pulled it. He has

already maintained his terrific record in north London derbies. Even

though in relative terms, he is still a rookie in them. His header

almost gave it to Dier, kept alive by Ramsey. Danny Welbeck was fouled

by Dier, who is going to be the next name in the book. That puts him on

to nine cautions for season, which means he is one away from a two

match ban and there is a few weekends to go before the deadline

passes. Arsenal showing a bit of spirit now.

Deloraine, into Sanchez, Sanchez levels at! -- Bellerin, into

Sanchez. Another goal that is superbly taken. Arsenal show their

mettle, the ten men are back in the game. It could be a goal against

Arsenal back -- it could be the goal that gets Arsenal back in the title

race. He only has one shot at this and he takes it. In fact, it's since

going down to ten men that Arsenal have really got forward and shown

they are still in this, well and truly in it again now. Spurs two,

Arsenal two. Kane nicely onto Eriksen and

Mertesacker, stretches out one of those long legs to good effect.

Giroud wriggled his way past the challenge of Dier and was being held

back and they were making the point to the referee that Dier got a

yellow card not so long ago. I don't think the referee will issue another

one just yet, though you wonder if he hadn't got a yellow, might he

have got one there? I think he might often. That is a let off for Spurs,

it would have levelled it up, ten against ten. Eriksen tries his luck

and he was nearly the match-winning hero for Spurs. Eriksen very nearly

caught Ospina out, it's another good save. What a second-half we have

seen at White Hart Lane. Gabriel, oh dear, what a calamitous way to lose

it that might have been. How quickly was Gabriel's heart beating after

this? Sliced off his shin pad, then a helpless stare back.

Ramsey running through, Aaron Ramsey in on goal. What a good challenge by

Kevin Wimmer, it will be an Arsenal corner but it was very nearly and

Aaron Ramsey women. A lovely ball played through -- very nearly and

Aaron Ramsey winner. What a vital challenge from Kevin Wimmer, he

can't afford to get that even 1% wrong. It happens, sometimes it's

more difficult to play against 10th and 11th. I feel disappointed for

the last few minutes but happy with the effort. The sending off changed

the momentum of the game. Did you have any argument is with the yellow

card? We should not have tackles, unless you are completely sure, but

I thought he was a bit behind. The regret is that Dier didn't get a

second yellow but only the referee can explain that. I think we needed

a performance like that after the couple of the feeds we have had. We

needed to come here and get something and we managed to do it

with ten men and the end. We should have finished the game off, got a

third and fourth and it would have been a happy day but if you give

would you have given it to? Although in the first ten or 15 minutes where

Tottenham did very well and got off to a good start, Arsenal then got

the goal and frustrated Tottenham, very much like West Ham did in

midweek. Then what they ended up doing, Tottenham, because they sat

deep, Arsenal, started kicking it long into Harry Kane with no success

and it kept coming back at them, no joy, easy headed for Mertesacker,

then this happens. It's a stupid challenge, what on earth is he

doing? Harry Kane has gone absolutely nowhere there. He is on

the touchline then the game changes. Arsenal looked comfortable from set

pieces until that point. What on earth are they doing there? All the

defenders apart from one are in the six yard box, then 1-1. It looked

dodgy again from set pieces, Harry Kane didn't really have a sniff

until then, then he gets his confidence up. I don't know what

Mertesacker is doing, take the ball out or take the man out and he takes

neither out. Having said all that, that is a world-class finish. He is

not offside, gives is keeping him onside, Dele Alli, it's a decent

running but Mertesacker just has to deal with that situation there, get

rid of the ball, but it into touch or put Alli into touch, one or the

other. He doesn't do either. It's brilliant to watch from Harry Kane.

Great technique, the crowd is now up, Tottenham are now at Arsenal,

chances galore, having said all that I have to give credit to Arsenal for

the way they battled back and a draw didn't suit either team. Not at all.

I suppose Arsenal, on many occasions people accuse them of being a soft

touch. No sign of that today? There was desire to get back into

the game and quality to go with it. That impressed me. Arsene Wenger

wants them to play football. Not at their best recently. A goal down

here. Down to 10-men. Ramsey's ball. Look at this. Great pace from

Sanchez. He could do better. Look at this. On the carpet, as Wenger likes

it. Good pace onto it. Sanchez no goals, which say it is all. Arsenal

deserve credit. Tottenham were lucky Dier didn't get sent off. It would

have been 10-men a piece. Bellerin later on. Should have gone for that.

Arsenal will feel really that they maybe should have gone on to win the

game. They will be disappointed. Ramsey, when he plays in that

central position, difficult to defend. Sometimes he's a liability.

He was unlucky there. Great challenge. Denied Arsenal the

winner. Fantastic game to watch, wasn't it? Livened up. Great to

watch. Leicester City would have enjoyed

watching at lunchtime as they prepared to take

on Watford at Vicarage Road. A win for the Foxes and they'd

be five points clear. COMMENTATOR: Watford's Holebas comes

in at left back. Ake moves inside to centre-half. Outstanding Ighalo

returns from his hamstring injury. Leicester's only change. They are

guaranteed to be top tonight come what may. Win and they will be top

by five points. Played well Watford at Old Trafford midweek. Unfortunate

Watford in front in the opening seconds. Watford have been relegated

in each of their last three top-flight seasons, they certainly

corner. Great foil for Jamie Vardy is Okazaki. Corner kick has been

enough. What a let-off here. Christian Fuchs had the sight of

goal. Hit it well. Good save by Gomes. Ake to the rescue. Okazaki

was following up. He has steered Leicester magnificently, calmly and

charmingly to the top of the table. Mahrez, Watson in quickly for

Watford. Nyom kept it away from Kante. Contact after the ball had

gone. Watford have the free-kick. For that challenge from cant can. --

Kante. Leicester always ask a question, two up in Mahrez and

Vardy. That came with a good header. It clipped the woodwork on its way

over. A good climb from Ake. Good header. It smudged the top of the

Leicester's A Team this season. Could not quite put them in front

to Deeney! Straight to where Schmeichel was hoping it would go.

Fell nicely for Deeney. That deflection favoured Schmeichel, it

might not have done. Capoue. Suarez. Away from Drinkwater. Good

run this by Suarez. Deflection. Did well, Schmeichel. Really good run

this by Suarez. Picked it up here. Shrugged off the first challenge,

and the second. The shot deflected. Watford having a terrific season.

Overshadowed by the exploits of Leicester City, of course.

trouble. Mahrez - scores! Fantastic Mr Fox. Riyad Mahrez puts Leicester

in front. In a game of precious few opportunities. The first that has

fallen the way of Riyad Mahrez ends up in the back of the Watford net.

That header was ill-judged. That finish was beautifully judged.

Leicester make the breakthrough. Riyad Mahrez, yet again, 16 goals

for the season. Put a price on that one, if you will. Drinkwater.

Good play by cant can. The referee will pull out a card here for Ake.

break out on the Italian's face right now. They've done it again.

points clear at the top of the Premier League. Yeah, important win.

Big battle. We knew that. Now, there will be only battle. There wasn't a

big difference between Leicester and Watford today. The goal is for

Leicester. Little bit tired about this situation. Do you get a sense

that neutral supporters are all behind you? Yeah. Yeah. I feel this

because a lot of people stop me on the way and say - if I don't win, I

want Leicester to win the title. Thank you. There is a good energy

behind us. If you work, play good, you can win the game, otherwise not.

So I think we're in a good way. If you carry on like that, maybe some

things are crazy. You keep doing those crazy things. Not for the

first time this season the magician that is Mahrez was the difference,

Alan It won't be the last time either, Gary. He is without doubt,

for me, the player of the season. Absolutely sensational. He has to

deal with this more and more often. He is dealing with it fine. Not only

do two players get back to defend and go up against him, but it's

three on this occasion. Ake, Capoue, Ben Watson, showing him where they

want him to go. Take the ball off him. He didn't get frustrated. He

kept wanting the ball and getting on the ball. Three players again, all

around him. They know he is without doubt the danger man. They take the

ball off him. Watford also tried to stop the supply line before actually

got in to him by sitting someone in front of him. Just in the line

there. The player has a look to see where he is. They stop it. Gets in

front of him. They can't find him in the gap there. It comes out wide to

Schlupp. He comes back inside. This time Watson is having a look to see

where he is. Stops the supply line, again. But, as I said, you cannot

keep a good man down. Ball out wide. Drifts in. They lose concentration

for a second. Who is on the edge. Box? Him. A superb touch. An even

better finish. Unbelievable that is, Martin. The way he changes the angle

there. He shows there the patience. He didn't get chances, when he did

and took it. Shows so class there. Player of the season. Footballer of

the Year, do you think? He has to be up there? In the mix. Don't forget

Vardy. 15 goals and 11 assists in the league, unbelievable in 28

games, superb. We talked about Mahrez, Kante, we talked about

Vardy. Of late, Danny Drinkwater has been consistent as anyone for

Leicester? Impressed with him today. Roy Hodgson in the crowd would have

been also. He is almost their extra defender. He recognises danger

remember brilliantly. He doesn't just put it into the crowd. He has

quality, calms himself down. A pass. Range of passes as well. I'm seeing

him as an outside chance for France. Look at this for a pass - quality.

On a sixpence for Albrighton. Sets up another attack. He's everywhere.

He sees danger. Goes back to help his defender, Fuchs. Two v one hechl

wants to get forward. He calms himself down. He recognises he has

to play. That is the other side of the game. Follows on. Look at that

for a crisp little pass. Dink to Vardy, running into space.

Fantastic. He's infectious the way that he runs around for the team.

This is late in the game here. He knows he has to get back. Got to do

the hard miles. He wants to win a Premier League. Look at this. He

doesn't want to give it away at a vital time in the game. Fantastic.

If you remember when Roy was on here, about three weeks ago, I

actually said to him about Mark Noble in the West Ham game. All he

wanted to talk about then was Drinkwater. That tells you how much

he thinks of him. He's been excellent this season. Nine games

left, five points clear. It's beginning to look like it might be

possible. What do you reckon, Alan I want to know whether you have a gym

membership. Have you to start working on your pecs. You are going

to be sitting in that chair, in your pants doing Match of the Day next

season. If you don't get to the gym will lend you one of my missus'

by Jack Garratt. Everton's new ownership has brought

renewed optimism to Goodison ahead The Hammers now have their eyes

on a Champions League spot, but hadn't beaten the Toffees

in the last 15 Premier League COMMENTATOR: In recent times Everton

have been indebted to Lukaku for preserving that incredible unbeaten

run against the Hammers. He scored in seven successive games against

them. There is one change for the hosts, Stones replaces Barry. Games

Collins is the sixth absentee from the backline. Only alteration

against the victory against Spurs which left West Ham a point off the

top four. A sloppy ball, but Lennon did

exceptionally well. Lukaku brings in Coleman, who has real licence to

roam today. The first corner of the match is conceded by Reece Oxford,

safety first from the teenager, and rightly so. The first corner of the

contest, tried to climb high. McCarthy steadies himself and that's

a lovely save from Adrian, who just sort of held himself in midair

almost to push it over the bar. These two could meet in the FA Cup

in the latter stages, and it being played like it's a Cup tie. Terrific

tempo. Great ebb and flow. Here is BA -- Oviedo, now Lukaku, he has

goal fight, and scores. Incredible record against them. You could have

backed him before the game, I'm sure, and your money would have been

safe. He just turned the young man Oxford, and found the finish off the

far post, into the corner of the net. It is Everton one, it is West

and nil. -- West Ham nil. A good turn from Mirallas. Terrific, he was

clipped, I think. Well, actually, the referee says that they dive. My

first view, I thought he was clipped, but Anthony Taylor is a

dance-like close of the Diamanti says Mirallas took a dive. -- he is

a lot closer than I am and he says Mirallas took a dive, and he gets a

yellow card. Lennon turns Cresswell. Mirallas has gone into the area.

Lukaku with hanging back on the edge. It's an Everton corner.

Barkley with the outswing, Funes Mori doesn't get to it, Stones gets

his forehead to it. It's kept alive by Coleman. Hit sitcom are unlucky,

great save, Adrian, brilliant from Bartley. Mirallas hits it and that

takes a deflection, Lukaku back in again. Absolutely sumptuous piece of

skill from Barkley, and the save from Adrian was outstanding at the

end of it. Now Mirallas. Two away to the right-hand side, but

the pass was poor, and there is a late challenge here by Kevin

Mirallas. This could be trouble. He is on a yellow card for simulation

earlier. He is getting spoken to by Anthony Taylor, and he is walking

the thinnest of tight ropes. It did look a bookable offence, I have to

say, as Cresswell got this one away for West Ham. I think it's a second

yellow. He's gone, Everton down to ten. And that earlier decision of a

dive has cost Kevin Mirallas enormously, and Everton. The debate

is whether or not he deserved the yellow card for a dive earlier, not

for the second yellow. Almost an hour, Everton will be down to ten

men in this game, but they are repelling West Ham quite well. On

towards Lukaku, back to London. Brilliant from Everton, what a goal

that is. Absolutely outstanding from Everton. A brilliant combination,

Lukaku aren't Lennon, and Lennon gets his second goal of the week,

poking it beyond Adrian. It's the 32nd time that Aaron Lennon has

scored in the Premier League, and in none of those matches has his team

ever lost. Tackled by Besic, forward it goes,

from McCarthy. Everton have four forward in this attack. Still Besic,

still Besic! It's on the edge, penalty.

Well, we have had everything now, haven't we? Two goals, a red card,

now an Everton penalty. It was right on the edge when Besic took a

tumble. He tried to tiptoe his way through. Where was he caught? Gosh,

that was close. Romelu Lukaku to give Everton a 3-0 lead.

It's saved! It's saved, Adriana hero. Lukaku's penalty not the best,

and Adrian, who made some heroic saves in an FA Cup tie against

Everton last season, is at it again. Now Barkley. Besic again,

energetically bursting forward, on towards Lukaku. Lukaku turns away.

And a good stop by Adrian. He has made three, four, maybe five really

important stops today, all West Ham -- or West Ham would have been

finished. Up towards Payet on the volley,

strikes the arm of Besic. No question he hits his arm, but could

he possibly have got out of the way? He was only a couple of feet from

it. Here is Noble. There is the goal

West Ham have been seeking. Antonio with the header, and there's 12 and

a half minutes, plus added time, to go. West Ham have halved the deficit

now. Michail Antonio grabs his first goal for West Ham away from Upton

Park, and there's genuine belief among the travelling supporters that

they can get something from this game.

Carroll goes towards it and the header is into the back of the net

from Sakho. Two goals in quick succession, and West Ham have turned

it completely around. And now, they will be eyeing the three points.

Sakho, who only returned after three months out with injury midweek,

returns with a goal today. It is 2-2, with around about nine minutes

to go. Alberto Martinez has more than played his part by keeping

Everton upbeat and positive, and going for the third goal. Claims of

a hand ball against Kouyate, Anthony Taylor says no way, although the arm

was a little bit away from the body and it did travel. Well, that's not

a bad claim, is it? Against Kouyate. Up towards Carroll, headed away by

Funes Mori and towards Payet, and Payet steals it for West Ham United

and Everton hearts are broken. 2-0 down, a missed penalty that could

have made it 3-0, and instead, it's West Ham who are gathering up the

points at Goodison Park. Everton two, West Ham three. When you get a

defeat you want to look at the opposition, that they have done more

than you and they deserve to win over

over the 90 minutes. Clearly, today, the feeling is very similar to the

one we had this season at home. We have never had any sort of look, or

breaks. The fact is if we had scored a penalty will you would've lost the

game 3-4 - zero but you can't deny from the first minute we were the

dominating side, and we were unlucky to go two down. I think the referee

was very picky and didn't understand the game at all. You don't want to

see it so early in the game, the referee feels there's not enough

contact but it's not a free kick, don't give a free kick and that's

it. We will come to those decisions shortly but what a fabulous game of

football it was between two teams playing entertaining football, great

to watch. You picked out one person in particular, that's Lukaku. He had

quite a day of downs? It was like a basketball match, end to end,

Lukaku when he's in the mood. Playing

against a give and go from Lennon. Nice feet, puts into his path, 2-0.

This is when he should have been a hero. The keeper is off his line, he

should be more ruthless. He should have a hat-trick, gets his goal but

he should have had a hat-trick. Great save, denies him at 2-0, and

he was outstanding but you have to give credit to West Ham, the way

they came back into the game. A busy day for the referees, Roberto

Martinez not too happy with a number of decisions. Your view? Mirallas

died, it's a yellow card whether you like it or not. He dived, he tried

to gain advantage. He tried to win his team a free kick. You can look

at the referee, he knows it's a dive. This is his second one, I have

no complaints at all, when you have a yellow card you can't tackle like

that on Pressel. He gets a yellow card and a red card. It shouldn't

have been a penalty, he's outside the box, contacted outside the box,

so I didn't think that was a penalty. Besic again, one more two

penalty appeals, this one was definitely one, others I didn't

After three straight league defeats, Manchester City were looking

to put their title challenge back on track and probably couldn't have

asked for better opponents than Aston Villa.

Remi Garde's side are winless from their last 13 games

COMMENTATOR: No team has won the Premier League, having been beaten

Aguero at the heart of it. Had the awareness to see Silva. He, in turn,

found Toure, who just guided it into the bottom corner. Guzan beaten.

They held out for the first half, but for only three minutes of the

second. Will that release the shackles from Manchester City? Silva

leaves it for Bony. 'S looking for Aguero. Oh, it rebounded to him.

Richards, in trying to make the defensive challenge, involved in the

goal. He read the situation on the stretch. He hit it against Aguero.

It rolled into the back of the net. City 2, Villa 0. Supports his club

Oh, lovely lick linkup with Silva. Aguero! That was a goal of the

why not? We have to be realistic as well and if we play like the first

45 minutings, we have a chance. If we play bike the second-half, we

have no chance. Very comfortable for City and

curtains for Aston Villa. All too easy, wasn't it? City didn't break

sweat, to be honest. Villa did all right for 45 minutes,

they got everyone behind the ball, there was effort and commitment from

them. Everyone that behind the ball working, a very good tackle from

Lescott. You are thinking at half-time they have got a bit of a

chance, again, everyone behind the ball, good ball into Aguero. It's a

good save from Guzan, I think Lescott on the line was probably

getting anyway but then the second half comes and the spaces start to

appear. As soon as this first one, there's space for Silva, we are

starting -- we are sat watching this and thinking it could be four or

five. Look at Agbonlahor here. 2-0 down already, what was he doing?

Look at everyone walking around for Aston Villa. They have thrown the

Tao Lin, they have accepted they are going to be relegated. No pressure

on the ball, they have to give it a go. Good play from Silva and City

and Aguero, a good finish, but it looks as if the Villa players have

thrown in the towel, they have no chance of staying up. No chance, you

would think. As for the title race, City are still in it, I suppose.

Without doubt, they have a game in hand and I fully expect them to win

that and go above Arsenal, so if Arsenal are in the race, surely Man

City are. How do you see it? How do I see it? It's been a bonkers season

already but I hope that Leicester do it. Me to.

The last time Sunderland travelled to St Mary's they endured

They took on a Saints team looking to recover from back-to-back

defeats. Charlie Austin is ruled out for a

month through injury. There are five changes. Borini's reward for a

stunning goal to rescue a point on Tuesday as a starting place today,

Defoe is on the bench, Kaboul was at the back, John O'Shea's calf injury

Allardyce is yet to get the better of Ronald Koeman, he will hope that

changes here on the south coast today. Ronald Koeman hasn't given up

hope of a European spot but he was really furious with his side's

defeat just down the road at Bournemouth on Tuesday night. Nodded

down for Tadic, a good save from Mannone, and it's just over the top.

relegated from the Premier League, may be the toughest task yet. Virgil

van Dijk has gone through firmly N'Doye. The wrong foot, firm to the

Southampton are down to ten men. Kirchhoff's ball, Borini's touch in

his stride and then Fonte, getting all wrapped around his man. The arms

out, twisted round. You might argue he got some of the ball, he

certainly took the man. He receives a red card and Southampton will play

the final 11 minutes with ten men. What an opportunity this could be

for Sunderland now. Van Aanholt and Larsson standing over this free

a good height for Fraser Forster to deal with that one.

A hand in there from Pelle. Just the two away wins from Sunderland, a

window of opportunity here surely to snatch a third. Virgil van Dijk's

And Sunderland have scored! Off the bench, with a critical goal, and

Jermain Defoe breathes life into Sunderland's relegation battle, for

big Sam's men. Yoshida only just on the field, beaten to it by Kone, and

Defoe does what he does best, finds the net, gives Sunderland the

advantage, and there's only five minutes to play. He says his side

can't keep clean sheets. Well, they need to now. Sunderland on the brink

of a huge win. Romeu forward, Pelle. Support from Bert Rand, red and

white shirts piling into the middle. Van Dyck! -- Virgil van Dijk. Virgil

van Dijk may well have just rescued a point for Ronald Koeman's

Southampton. The ten men piling the players forward and they get their

reward. It's a good finish, as well. Nothing Mannone could do about that

one. The pace on the finish and despite the extra defender on the

field, the extra player on the field as well, Sam Allardyce's side can't

hold out. Virgil van Dijk's third goal for Southampton, and what must

he be thinking now? At this moment in time the dejection amongst all

others is clear, in the dressing room, how important it was to see

this game out, being 1-0 up and conceding a goal. We should have

taken three points here today which would have made life so much more

easier in the relegation battle. We showed character and belief. Still

we stand on the pitch to get one point but don't forget the first 85

minutes, because that wasn't the level of softened. When you are down

and scrapping for results and you need that little bit of luck, a bit

disappointed. We should have seen the game out, to be honest. Ten

seconds to go and they score, massive disappointment. We throw so

many good points away with good performances, is very frustrating

but we can only hope that the performance will only ultimately

bring us the results we need, very, very quickly. Sam looks a bit

scrambled there, the emotional ups and downs, especially as a manager.

It was Defoe who was nearly the hero, a super sub, no other player

scores more off the bench. He comes alive in the box, you think a great

result, 85 minutes, the job is done, but he is blaming O'Shea for the

goal. Kirchhoff was on before him, playing in front of Pelle. Stopping

any of the balls that were being peppered in from the him. Now he has

a free ball into the front man, into Pelle's chest, not a lot O'Shea can

do with this when he's behind him but he can do an awful letter -- an

awful lot better from the cross that comes in. For a player of his

experience, Virgil van Dijk has gone in from the back, a great finish and

John O'Shea should do better. He knows that, Sam. 15 games without a

clean sheet now. That's been their downfall. Southampton are tough

opponents, going through a pretty solid spell.

Alan, Sunderland are grinding under Big Sam, aren't they? You look at

they are given hope and I mentioned Newcastle before, nothing really to

hope for. At least for some they are working, going in the right

direction, strong, tough to beat, in two games time it is Sunderland and

Newcastle, one of them will stay up, I think.

Swansea's impressive win at Arsenal provided a bit of breathing space

for them at the bottom, while opponents Norwich

are still struggling after seven defeats in eight.

With Guidolin absent, Alan Curtis takes charge. The Italian has picked

the team from his hospital bed. Six changes from the Emirates. Two

changes from Norwich, Steven Naismith comes in, Gary O'Neil

replaces the injured Tettey, as Alex Neil switches to a back four. It's a

big match at the bottom, and the top man in the game is here to see it,

trip from Cardiff, where he was attending a meeting yesterday. Alex

Neil believes this Norwich lose this one they can pretty much forget

about catching Swansea, and it will be just about competing against the

likes of Newcastle and Sunderland at the bottom. Good hit, a decent save

scored his first goal since October against Chelsea in midweek with the

first real shot in anger this afternoon. Sigurdsson on four Ayew,
