It was squeaky bum time in the early game at Carrow Road,

where fourth from bottom Norwich faced a Sunderland side who knew

That was meant for Hoolahan. Duncan Watmore. Two on two. Defoe tried to

made a hash of that. The pass was intended for Hoolahan and straight

to Watmore. That was probably the minute to play the pass, it was

delayed too long. When M'Vila played it to Defoe, he was offside.

Kirchhoff doing that job again. He has been a good signing for

Sunderland, sitting in front of the back four. There he is again. A foul

this time on the German. Sunderland were asleep. Mannone was not. No

wonder the goalkeeper gets up and shouts at those in front of him

because they allowed Redmond all kinds of space. It seems as though

belief is running away as quickly as the last few minutes of this game.

Van Aanholt might run through them all. Back into Fabio Borini. Try to

pull it back in the direction of van Aanholt. Sunderland threatening a

third. Nicely done. Watmore has squeezed it in and Sunderland have a

third. Three points, three goals. It could hardly have gone better for

Sam Allardyce today. They will be one point behind Norwich tonight

with a game in hand and the relegation battle will go to the

wire. Norwich are well beaten today by Sunderland. Watmore with the

final punishment for the home side. He has had chances, two or three of

them. Watmore on the counter and he squeezed it in from a tight angle.

Norwich are beaten. They have answered my questions and coped with

pressure. Coped with everything Norwich could throw at them and have

been clinical in front of goal when they needed. Such a big game to win

3-0. It shows you what a massive result it is under the pressure we

are playing under. The way you hobbled out of the tackle from Andre

Wisdom I wondered if you would take the penalty. Probably with a broken

leg I would have taken the penalty! With the striker -- as a striker you

want to stay on to take the penalty. I got the goal. We got the

performance. Do you feel you did not get the rub of the green from the

referee? The penalty was where he made contact with the ball and it

caught the player afterwards. You could argue whether it was a penalty

or not. The second for me was a free kick. The player puts his legs

between Sebastien's. It cost us the second goal. That cost the game, the

second. Many times we have been in this position and failed. We have to

make sure with so few games left, we cannot afford to fail. It was a day

for experience. Sam has plenty of it. He has never taken a team down

and he got it right today. He tried to play the same way against

Leicester but the difference is that the Leicester full-backs are solid

and it did not work. It worked to day and the effect of Jermain Defoe

and the runs he made behind. Knowing what they needed to do, this is

early in the game. There is no real thought. It is germane, you run in

behind. They struggled. He read the situation well. You can see it was

not a great ball but the intent was there. He made the run and got

himself between the defenders. Normally you would say a full-back

has to get in but as a midfielder I would say you deal with that, you

should be able to handle that situation, but they could not. He

was clever all day, getting himself between defenders. It was a lovely

ball from Cattermole and a clever run into the channel. He could not

quite find M'Vila. This is the goal. We highlighted Jermain Defoe because

he was clever, he looks like he is resting. Watching come to life. He

spins into the corner. He is in the channel and any time he is in and

around the box he is a danger and he picks out his man, Borini, a willing

runner throughout the day. Look at the amount of Norwich players. There

is no danger now but that is reckless. No need for Andre Wisdom

to make the challenge. You were not so sure it was a

penalty? It is a contact sport and we are in danger of making it a

noncontact sport. He changes the direction the opposite way, it

ricochets off Borini's left foot and I don't think the raspberry sees it

on the ball. It's not knee height, is it? -- the referee sees it on the

ball. If you skim the top of the ball and take someone out at knee

height we would say it was a leg break. That's seriously a reckless

challenge. To do it in the box, you are asking for trouble and Borini is

very good from the penalty spot, sticks it away, and that was

obviously the first goal, and here is the foul that Alex Neil is

talking about it and well within his rights to be upset about it about

it. It has cost them the second goal, and obviously at that point

heads down and the momentum is with Sunderland. OK, Lee Cattermole

impression, in a combative soul. Yes, he was brilliant throughout the

whole game, he was the driving force behind Sunderland's performance

today and he ran his socks off. He was strong, he was a real leader

today. In these situations, your centre-half is going to win the

ball, you notice there is danger, the space is in behind, completely

nullified that, Matt Jarvis made a brilliant run but he was there to

cover his centre halves. This impressed me. He's known for sitting

in front of the back four but he senses something and thinks he will

go for it and he was right, closes down well there, wins the ball and

when it eventually comes back to him, a lovely ball out to the

winger, gets himself into the box and he's seriously unfortunate not

to stick it into the back of the net. Releases has himself from

positions in midfield, not happy to just sit around, trying to have an

impact on the Norwich midfield, affecting play, that I was Gary

O'Neil who stuck it out of play. It all has an effect on momentum. We

are about to see one of three clearances that he made off line

today. When you want to talk about passion and desire and leadership

today from the captain, look at that for a reaction from Lee Cattermole.

He pretty much epitomised everything good about Sunderland today. What

about Norwich? You would have expected more, such a big game. A

huge game, as was last week against Crystal Palace. For both games, you

are playing a team above you and below you and you want to win the

games and they didn't go with the most offensive and creative team

they could. Nathan Redmond, a great player, came on at half-time and

made a massive impact on the game. Super running at the ball, end

product, and it was missing in the first half when he wasn't playing.

Really positive, getting his shot off and he is whiskers away from

getting Norwich back in the goal. Game. You think Alex Neil would have

been braver and bolder with his team selection, they would have had more

chance of getting not only three points from this game but three

points from the last game, which was also key.

A good result for Sunderland and not a bad one for Newcastle,

who remained six points from safety going into their game

The visitors had won on their last three visits to St James' Park.

Nothing other than a win will do for Newcastle United, a big ask for a

side that seems to have forgotten how to. Swansea are sitting safely

on 40 points, they have been in the bottom three behind Newcastle only

at Christmas. Benitez was still in Madrid then, how things have changed

for him and changes the theme of his selection today, with five made from

last week's dismal display at Southampton. Out to the bench for

Mitrovic and Jonjo Shelvey, coming in, Jamal Lascelles, Paul Dummett,

Jack Colback, Cheik Tiote and Papiss Cisse. Swansea are unchanged from

the team that beat Chelsea a week ago, the winning goal came from

Sigurdsson, only Sergio Aguero on Harry Kane have scored more than his

nine Premier League goals in 2016. His form he will be looking to Euro

shot on -- he did have Wijnaldum breaking forward to his right. He

Newcastle. What a difference Aleksandar Mitrovic's introduction

has made. They couldn't stop him. Townsend was onside. It's a

Townsend scored his third Newcastle goal in only his eighth appearance

for the club. It has done the job for them today. There really is no

way back for Swansea now. There might be a way back from Newcastle

in their fight to stay up. I have to say congratulations to our players

because they showed today the passion, the commitment, the effort

we were expecting. Thank you to the fans because they were supporting

the team until the end. If we stick together as we say, I think it will

be easier for us to approach the games and get chances to win. It's a

make or break week, we went into the game six points adrift. We knew if

we won today and results went our way and we have a game in hand on

Tuesday, anything is possible. It shows that if you play with heart

and desire and the fight that you see the Newcastle fans love, then

the frustrating thing is we should have been doing this all season. We

have not -- we are not safe must -- mathematically. We need some points.

into a club that can take a while to put your stamp on what you want the

point, allows you to hit him and get the ball up the pitch and allows him

to soak up a lot of pressure, not only that he makes himself a up

salute nuisance in the game and as you can see here, he is putting

himself about, wins a corner which gets nukes Newcastle the second

goal, and a good run into the channel, it's not pretty but it's

effective. He is strong, powerful, a lovely ball into Townsend and

finishes it off want to be honest with you, that was Newcastle's

second clean sheet in 18 games and that just shows you how hard it is

to win games for Newcastle and if they can keep keeping clean sheets,

But the realisation from each player, taking responsibility and

being committed. I think special praise for Andros Townsend, scoring

three and setting up two in the last games. Not the best day for Swansea.

How much pleasure do you get watching a young player like Marcus

was again very important. Amazing the difference one week can make. We

won against West Ham United. That gave us confidence and two day we

win again and we have to keep fighting until the last day. It is a

painful day for the club, I imagine a quiet dressing room. The players

are devastated. It has been coming. Once the realisation is that it is

against you, it is difficult. I think they are disappointed today in

terms of what they put into the game. It has been difficult for

everybody at the club. Today, they took that little step forward and

step back towards the supporters. We have to get on with it. We have to

ensure this fantastic club goes back to where it should be and this never

happens again. Usually this would happen, has it helped for you and

others to get your head around it? I would not say it has helped. It is

never nice to see it confirmed but has been on the cards for a while.

Now it is official and, hopefully, it is a weight of people'sshoulders

and we can go into the last four games with a bit of freedom, still

with something to prove and that we can prove to the fans we have the

fight in our and give them a performance they deserve. We will

come to Aston Villa shortly but a positive first, Marcus Rashford,

exceptionally promising. From the development squad, is superb, 18

years old. You can expect legs, enthusiasm, but his movement and

hold-up play, it has been exceptional. The way he bamboozled

Ciaran Clark, it was outstanding. We circled him in the middle. He does

not rush in like young players would. Steps in, steps away, a

couple of movements and Matt finish is outstanding. No chance for the

keeper and his seventh goal in 12 games, big games. It is safe to say

he has a chance. Let's talk about whether he could sneak into the

England squad. There is a lot of competition in those positions. In

previous years he would have had a chance but it is a little bit

premature in terms of quality we already have. Aston Villa. It has

been a dreadful season and it is sad to see a club go down apathetically.

It has happened. They have made positive changes, I would say.

Appointing David Bernstein, Brian Little, to the board, and the next

big decision is who is the manager to get them out of the Championship

and back into the Premier League? Nigel Pearce, a former Leicester

manager is odds-on. Other names, as well. It is a tough job because when

a team is on the decline it is not easy. Nigel Pearson won the league.

I think Steve Bruce has won a Championship. They need someone with

experience in that league, because it is ruthless down there. I do not

know if Aston Villa have the players to handle that. It is tough to

bounce back. Tough and Tim was on last week and he thinks they have

players who can get them back up but I am not so sure.

beautiful ball by Yaya Toure. Good goalkeeping. Aguero, a lovely run

from deep by Nasri. Courtois saved Chelsea again. Aguero attacking from

deep. Manchester City playing some lovely football. Lovely ball by

Aguero. A big chance, that. Squandered by Nasri. Two really

important saves by Courtois so far. That's a foul, Zabaleta. Not a

pretty challenge, that, Fabregas has stayed down and that's a yellow

card. Contacts with the ball, but excessive force.

It's the speed in which they counter, Aguero attacking through

the middle. Plays the ball to Sergio Aguero, gets the shot away and puts

Manchester City ahead. From a Chelsea corner, Manchester City

break, to score, with 32 minutes gone. That is classic

counterattacking football. And Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Atletico,

they should all fear this sort of potency. De Bruyne composed, aware,

the past took a deflection. Aguero had to check, did so, and how about

that for a finish? Unnervingly into the corner. Deflected beyond

Courtois, actually. A big deflection off Gary Cahill as he tries to get a

cross, Courtois would have got it, I think, but it's Aguero's goal.

Diego Costa is onside, the flag stayed down. Diego Costa kept his

feet, that's a lovely piece of skill by De Bruyne on the counter, again,

a perfect weight on the path. In towards Aguero, it's two. And once

again, Manchester City have counted with venom, with position, and with

a deadly effect -- position. Aguero on the end of it again. From the

moment it broke down there are De Bruyne's touch was sublime, carrying

with confidence. Good vision. Lovely pass. He is maybe just onside. A

crisp finish. Looked along the line, kept himself on, very tight that,

though. A lovely pass, slid into it and the finish lifted over the

might have said that Chelsea have been outclassed by Manchester City

side. It's happened today. What can Pedro do here? He has been Chelsea's

brightest player and he has been brought down by Zabaleta, who is on

a yellow card. He wants a chat. He's been direct and adventurous, Pedro.

Well, I think that is a bookable offence. Zabaleta, if he escapes a

red card here, will be a lucky boy. He's smiling, he got away with it,

and he knows it. Guus Hiddink thought full as time draws nigh on

his second spell as interim manager -- thoughtful. A good run,

challenged by De Bruyne on the ball. I don't think this was a penalty no,

he got a telling onto the ball. De Bruyne, one of the most complete

midfielders in Europe, if not the world, right now. Aguero has the

ability, the pace and finishing power to trouble Real Madrid's

defenders. This is a brilliant run from Fernandinho, brought down by

Courtois and has to go. It's a penalty kick. And a red card. That's

counterattacks limply sliced through Chelsea. Look at this from

Fernandinho, he wanted it more, got their quicker and once Courtois had

gone to ground and didn't win the chase, he knew he was in trouble.

Aguero on the verge of his fifth hat-trick for Manchester City. The

former are Atletico Madrid player, are you watching, Real Madrid?

Sergio Aguero with the hat-trick. He has been in such potent form,

convincing winners, painful for Chelsea fans to watch this. Their

season petering out, their team on the verge of being broken up, a new

era will dawn for them next season. Manchester City have so much to play

for. I always say when you have your best player 100% fit, when they play

altogether, we score, with Yaya Toure -- we played very well. We got

out of the relegation zone but Chelsea should compete always for

the fourth places. It's not the fact today. You see that we were

apparently having a control in the game, but they have the quality on

our corners to get a counter in and decided 1-0 and later on with a

beautiful counter 2-0. I said Kevin De Bruyne is perhaps Europe's most

complete midfielder. I far off? Well he played very well, I'm happy for

him because it's not easy to retain such a good performance when you

have a difficult injury to recover from, it was his ankle. I think that

Kevin retaining his best performance is very important. He's

demonstrating it in every game why we brought him here. I imagine

Chelsea demonstrating it in every game why

to how they let Kevin De Bruyne get away. Incredible. I mean, he's had a

monumental impact since arriving at Manchester City and a lot of people

pointed the finger at Manuel Pellegrini, saying he's lost the

dressing room when the story got released. For me it was this boy's

injury a couple of days earlier, he had scored 12, set up 12, this was

two minutes in and he was stamping his mark on the game. A great

running behind, Aguero didn't finish it off. He has everything, his

movement off the ball, looking to run off the ball into the holes. He

will be disappointed he didn't score that. I never thought I would say

this but you have a player like David Silva, probably one of the

best midfield players in the Premier League over the last four or five

years, I think this boy is an upgrade on him. He has everything.

He scores more goals, assist small goals and is more of an athlete. The

way he has hit the ground running at Man City is phenomenal. He has

everything, the weight of pass, phenomenal. Does it make you think

how Chelsea missed him? It's not that long ago. He left in 2014 and

unknown, his comeback to Stamford Bridge in 2016 a world beater. He

was absolutely brilliant. We can't give him enough accolades because he

was a stunning performance. Man City are enjoying having him playing for

them. It's not just about him as well. Also coming back from injury,

Samir Nasri. He makes a difference to Manchester City? He has been out

for a while with an injury and it is tough, when you are going through

those situations but you just realise how much Manchester City

have missed him when he comes back and turns in some of the

performances he has done of late. I think they are a better side with

him in it. His ball retention, he's happy to receive the ball, whether

he's got a man marking him or not, you can see here when players get

tight to him he's like yes, I'll still receive it, you're not going

to get this paws-macro me. He was just brilliant today. I think he

gets the best out of the players around him. He's happy to come into

these types of areas more, granted Raheem Sterling I still think is a

fantastic buy and brilliant for the future, but when Samir Nasri comes

into midfield areas like this, he creates overloads. The likes of Yaya

Toure and Fernandinho, he makes life Morisi. He could have got himself on

the scoresheet a couple of times. Everyone thinks he's going wide, he

has the vision to find the man, Aguero, this is late in the game

testing his fitness at this point but he will probably be disappointed

not to have stuck that one away. I think Manchester City will be

slightly disappointed he's not in the Champions League squad as well.

And got a hat-trick, we have barely mentioned him, we kind of get used

to Aguero, such a brilliant goal-scorer. And not mentioned for

player of the year, 20 odd goals and keeps getting ignored. Chelsea, the

heaviest defeat at home since 2010. A bit of a shambles, really? I think

it wasn't a great performance, no, but it was a phenomenal performance

from Manchester City. When I was watching that it was a masterclass

at times. I think there's going to be a lot of changes at Chelsea and

they will probably come back stronger next year. I'm sure they

will, they have two! Only Aston Villa have scored fewer

goals than West Brom and Watford, It finished 0-0 between these two

sides earlier in the season. John Roder left his calculator

at home. McAuley signed an extension to his

contract this year, he says settling his future is welcome as he prepares

to go to the euros with Northern Ireland. Yacob replaces Sandro.

Watford strike pair of Troy Deeney and Ighalo have 26 goals between

them this season, but both have struggled of late. Deeney with one

goal in his last eight appearances, a Halo one goal in his last 11. Both

these teams pretty much assured of their Premier League place for next

season. Fletcher looking to get away from

over on that firefight between McClean and Nyom. Watford everybody

only make him better and stronger and I hope if we get a penalty in

the next games he will pick up the ball and smash it in the back of the

net. How important is it for Watford to stop this huge week with a

victory? It is always important to win. It is always important. Because

you collect a lot of positive feelings for the future. Watford

have reached the magic mark and should be fine next season. Gomes is

the penalty saving record-breaker. He is. When we were at Spurs with

practice penalties against him a lot and that did not surprise me today

because I know how good he is at saving penalties. They are

definitely penalties given away, I think the first given away by

himself. No arguing with that. He had to say that. He heeded. He gives

them run. His arms are so long. When he stands in the goal, I cannot tell

you how big he looks. Do you think it was brave for Berahino to step up

again? I think it is brave. Your reaction was the same, travel. It

was a very good saves. Good support from the manager, Tony Pulis, no

blame attached. You want that from the manager, the encouragement to

bad, having seen his record. Everton were looking to avoid a club

record-equalling ninth home defeat of the season against a Southampton

side eyeing up a top six finish. The beginning of a week that

includes a Merseyside derby and FA Cup semifinal. Roberto Martinez

makes six changes, including Leon Osman for his second start of the

season and Darron Gibson for his his. Lukaku and Ross Barkley are on

the bench. Southampton are not change, having won the last three of

the last four games. Saints are looking for their first win at

not threatened in the second half, Everton, but they will take the

It looked like it took a big deflection on the way through, but

Funes Mori puts Everton in front in a half in which Southampton have

him a second time. I think it might hit Bertrand on the way through and

go beyond Fraser Forster. I do not think it will be taken off Funes

Mori, because it was on target but it is little doubt it was Bertrand

who took it beyond Forster 's,. The pattern of the second half has been

Everton repelling Southampton pressure, but they now have the

bonus of the Funes Mori goal. It is one thing being threatening, they

have to convert one of the chances. Tadic looking for the return. Manet,

at last they have taken a chance. They might fancy there is enough

time to go on and win this game. They have been the dominant force in

the second half. It was a shock to the system when they conceded. Manet

who had defended well. But they open up to Mane, with his ninth goal of

relying on last-ditch clearances, the like of which Funes Mori just

supplied. Rodriguez looked like he might be putting Southampton in

front and he nearly did. Ray Blairs palms -- Robles palms it away.

changes from the game on Wednesday, we looked disjointed. We look rusty.

We needed to find our normal rhythm. I think we overcame the lack of

quality in play with an incredible fight and determination to get a

positive results. Really, really disappointed, because it was a big

opportunity to win the game today. From the start of the game. Some 15

minutes, to come into the game, at that moment we had good football,

but we also had a lot of space to play but in the final part it was

not good enough. And that is the problem.

Do you understand why the supporters are unhappy? Absolutely, our results

at home haven't been anywhere near what we expected and that's what we

need to turn around. We want to finish the season really strong,

clearly. The games we have left in front of us are giving is that

opportunity and we are going to give our lives with style

opportunity and we are going to give our lives with style and quality in

our play. Neither manager overly emphatic about the performance but

you picked out Tadic as a player that did really perform very well

indeed? The Serbian right midfielder played very well. The wingers union,

I've got to say that, he got on the ball, got a little holes, little

pockets all over the pitch. He gave Oviedo a really difficult afternoon,

a torrid afternoon. He got on the ball early doors, got in the holes

in between the lines, his vision was superb, a little bit better touch

from Long their Rantie was through on goal. Picking up the ball there,

great execution, nice and sharp, he will be disappointed he didn't hit

the target there. If you are getting the ball you have to get tight and

stop the ball is going into the box. He has got too much of Oviedo there,

he is so confident and when you are in a fullback in that position it's

a nightmare. He's comfortable with the ball at his feet, a man up his

backside, looks after the ball, good strength and keeps the ball, but is

it down the line, doesn't just stop there and watches pass, he gets

involved, anticipates that, gets a little bit of luck but they deserved

it, Southampton, they were superb. It was like that all afternoon. We

are bringing not only was he good with his passing but also good

movement with the ball and this execution with the outside of the

let foot, what a past that is and I think Shane Long will be

disappointed he doesn't finish that. A great performance, looking at the

whole game, I think Southampton deserved the three points. Positive

for Everton, you thought Gibson did well? He did well, he hasn't played

a lot of games this season. McCarthy was suspended so he has gone in.

Great screening in front of the central defenders. Good for him to

get gametime with the euros coming up for Ireland. Everton have

struggled at home, as Martinez said. The lowest points total they've ever

had at home in a season? 17 points, their worst total. I think it's in

their history at home, anyway. They have a massive week coming up now,

the derby on Wednesday and then the big semifinal which will define
