that the International Paralympic Committee have suspended Russa

from all Paralympic activity. That means they will not be able

to send athletes to Rio Our reporter Chris McLaughlin

was at the press conference today What exactly was said? Well, it's a

decision we were expecting, but when the confirmation came with guilt

felt like it was pretty huge. Russia will take no part in the Paralympic

Games here in Rio. It is strongly that you that the Russian Paralympic

committee is currently unable to ensure compliance with and

enforcement of the IPC's anti-doping code within its own national

jurisdiction. Therefore, it cannot fulfil its fundamental obligations

as an IPC member, and as a result, we have resolved to suspend the

Russian Paralympic committee with immediate effect. Sir Philip Craven

went on to describe how he has had sleepless nights thinking about this

decision, but the decision is fact -based. They were 45 sample

tampering examples uncovered, and after the McLaren report, he says

it's a decision placing a huge burden on the IPC. He says the

Russian anti-doping system is corrupt. He said, it disgusts me,

and he says if we start slacking on this great threat in the future of

the sport is in jeopardy. This is without anyone athlete, this is

about a sport. Now Todd Nicholson has set that Russia has used its

athletes like pawns. What's it like the Paralympic community regarding

the news? It's probably worth pointing out that Russia have a root

of appeal. 21 days to lodge and have an appeal heard by the Court of

Arbitration for Sport. The indication is that they will indeed

appeal is expected. The world anti-doping agency has released a

statement supporting this decision, but of course, this is in stark

contrast to the international Olympic Committee, who resisted the

temptation to implement a blanket and on its athletes that the Olympic

games, though some are seeing this as a strong move by the IPC. An

indication of the differences between the IOC and the IPC.
