We have to do something... LAUGHTER

:00:52.:01:21.

Oh my word! Welcome to a soldout Keepmoat

:01:22.:02:28.

Stadium in South Yorkshire, today it is east Yorkshire versus West

:02:29.:02:33.

Yorkshire as Hull FC take on the Leeds Rhinos in the chalg Cup

:02:34.:02:39.

semifinal. Hull are of course the current Cup holders having shaken

:02:40.:02:44.

off that never winning at Wembley by beating Warrington last year. This

:02:45.:02:47.

is a lucky venue for them. The last two occasions they've played a

:02:48.:02:52.

semifinal here they've won. Leeds lifted the Challenge Cup in 2014 and

:02:53.:02:59.

2015 and have won in their last Fitch semifinals after a disastrous

:03:00.:03:04.

2016 they are well and truly back. It's all set up for a fantastic

:03:05.:03:08.

match. This is how our weekend pans out. We

:03:09.:03:12.

will be with you here today until 4. 30 and then on to the red button

:03:13.:03:17.

until 5pm. Tomorrow we move to Warrington where Wigan meet Salford

:03:18.:03:22.

to determine who faces today's winners in the final at Wembley on

:03:23.:03:25.

August 26th. It will of course be live here on the BBC.

:03:26.:03:28.

I am delighted to say we What is the rivalry like? It's huge.

:03:29.:03:51.

The next team that FC like to beat is Leeds. Hull FC think they're the

:03:52.:03:57.

best team in east Yorkshire. Leeds think they're the best in west, both

:03:58.:04:02.

think they're the best in Yorkshire. These are two really evenly matched

:04:03.:04:09.

teams. They are. It starts with both forward packs, it always does. An

:04:10.:04:16.

extra front rower gets it starting so well. What's going to be the key

:04:17.:04:21.

today? Good question. Hull have a big team. Keeping possession and

:04:22.:04:25.

keeping their energy is very, very important. Kicking the ball will be

:04:26.:04:30.

important. If they're going to go through the process we think we are

:04:31.:04:33.

which we will explain. For Leeds, they have to move the ball a little

:04:34.:04:38.

bit more and tire out these big players Hull have. It's maybe a

:04:39.:04:44.

contrast in styles. It will be the subtlies that separate the two. The

:04:45.:04:47.

teams are coming out. The noise as they're coming out, it's not even

:04:48.:04:50.

full yet, it's going to be something. This game's going to be

:04:51.:04:57.

huge. Two exciting teams and want to get to Wembley. Two teams that fancy

:04:58.:05:01.

their chance if they can get thu of winning at Wembley, they've both

:05:02.:05:06.

ambition. Let's show you how evenly matched they are by showing you the

:05:07.:05:11.

Super League table coming into this after the regular season. Leeds are

:05:12.:05:14.

sitting in second place. Hull into third with a win over Huddersfield

:05:15.:05:19.

in the final round of games. Today is all about the Challenge

:05:20.:05:24.

Cup. And retaining the trophy they won spectacularly last season. Dave

:05:25.:05:27.

Woods has been talking to local lad Scott Taylor.

:05:28.:05:43.

MUSIC First of all, how much does this

:05:44.:05:49.

mean, this match, this semifinal, how much are you looking forward to

:05:50.:05:54.

it? It's definitely a big one, one obviously you have been counting the

:05:55.:05:58.

days from when it's been drawn to have a Yorkshire derby against Leeds

:05:59.:06:01.

at Doncaster, it will be bouncing, it's a tight walk. You play Rugby

:06:02.:06:06.

League. Good atmosphere last year. First time I played at Doncaster,

:06:07.:06:13.

obviously it's joined on top here, the 11,000 FC fans that there were

:06:14.:06:17.

it was ridiculous, the loudness of it, it was louder than probably

:06:18.:06:21.

actually at Wembley. I just remember in that second half the spell of

:06:22.:06:27.

about five minutes near the end, holding on. You can normally block

:06:28.:06:30.

out the crowd but the constant noise was unbelievable. You have a special

:06:31.:06:37.

anthem with old faithful as well. # Old faithful... I was a kid singing

:06:38.:06:41.

it in the crowds growing up with my family. Now being on the back end of

:06:42.:06:45.

that, being a player out there and when you wear that and see the old

:06:46.:06:49.

faithful doing it, it's a special feeling. That final last year, what

:06:50.:06:54.

did it mean to be part of that historic side? Everything to me

:06:55.:07:00.

personally. Obviously signing with my home town team coming back home

:07:01.:07:06.

and the main goal as much as people was to get rid of that song... It

:07:07.:07:10.

was old faithful you will never win at Wembley was the old version. It

:07:11.:07:14.

was all about, let's get that out of the way. The main goal, let's win

:07:15.:07:17.

the Challenge Cup and to have a chance to have done that and go

:07:18.:07:20.

there and be part of the first team to win at Wembley and obviously the

:07:21.:07:25.

people up there, that hit me the most. People who have left me when

:07:26.:07:29.

you would have loved to have been there on the day. Obviously having

:07:30.:07:33.

them looking down and knowing your family and mum, dad, everyone there

:07:34.:07:37.

and what it meant to them personally because they've supported all these

:07:38.:07:40.

years and to be out there playing a part of that team and to see them

:07:41.:07:46.

after the game and their reaction, just full of emotions, everything.

:07:47.:07:50.

It's definitely helped my career so far. -- highlight of my career.

:07:51.:07:55.

Leeds they've done a number on you a couple of times. They've the X sign

:07:56.:08:01.

on you. They do, they're a top team. They're a great team. If you don't

:08:02.:08:05.

play well against them they're going to beat you. They've too much talent

:08:06.:08:10.

in their team. We are confident we know what we can do and it was good

:08:11.:08:16.

playing them a couple of weeks ago narrowly getting beaten but I think

:08:17.:08:19.

we completed about 50% that day with the ball. Our defence has been

:08:20.:08:25.

brilliant. We need to make sure we look after that ball, we can put

:08:26.:08:28.

them under pressure and hopefully come out the back end of the game.

:08:29.:08:39.

Have you got a tattoo for every trophy you have won? I am big but

:08:40.:08:44.

not quite that big! Scott Taylor is a great - I got to work with him in

:08:45.:08:51.

the England set-up, every side needs a player who can energise the lads,

:08:52.:08:54.

he is also exceptional on the field, as well. Powerful ball carrier and

:08:55.:08:58.

has great footwork, as well, makes him difficult to handle. Do you

:08:59.:09:01.

think he stepped up going back to Hull and his home town? You can see

:09:02.:09:05.

how much it means to him. I was fortunate to play for my home town,

:09:06.:09:13.

Leeds Rhinos, I think that came across there in his interview.

:09:14.:09:18.

Brian, Gareth Elis is back, why is he keen to Hull? He is their

:09:19.:09:24.

talisman, that element of experience that when things are not quite going

:09:25.:09:28.

right on the field, they look to the leader and that is Gareth Elis. He

:09:29.:09:33.

is a good player as well, he can carry the ball, can come back

:09:34.:09:36.

against the grain as we are seeing there. It's his inspiration on the

:09:37.:09:40.

field that will be required today. Just on the back of that, he is a

:09:41.:09:45.

top player. Great ball skills, really tough. Everything outside of

:09:46.:09:49.

that, the influence that he has on the younger players in the group,

:09:50.:09:53.

senior players, captain, those guys and the influence they have on

:09:54.:09:58.

younger players or even players midway through their career, they

:09:59.:10:01.

make you play better and keep you honest. He has been a fabulous

:10:02.:10:05.

player wherever he has gone. Is there a gamble he might not be fully

:10:06.:10:10.

fit or do you think you take the gamble because he is that important?

:10:11.:10:15.

For his presence in the dressing room and talisman players deliver

:10:16.:10:18.

their own individual performance but they expect great standards of

:10:19.:10:21.

everybody else and everybody else will rise to that occasion and still

:10:22.:10:25.

have the ability to get hold of the game in the scruff of the neck. He

:10:26.:10:28.

will be understanding how to win it because he has been involved in big

:10:29.:10:34.

games. The first 20, 30 minutes of this match are the key for Hull?

:10:35.:10:40.

Yeah, completion in any game, any club game, big games, you want to be

:10:41.:10:43.

completing earlier in the game and overall percentage of the game. It

:10:44.:10:49.

has to be good. Just keeping it simple, as well. Hull did that

:10:50.:10:53.

really well against Castleford. Got hold of the game in the first ten

:10:54.:10:57.

minutes. Front loaded energy and bent the line backwards as they're

:10:58.:11:00.

carrying the ball. It's something to look for at the start of the game.

:11:01.:11:08.

They're bending and buckling the defensive lines which means it has

:11:09.:11:12.

to retreat further. They're a running team here as we see. That's

:11:13.:11:16.

hard to handle and it requires a high energy level from the defence.

:11:17.:11:20.

It's really important, the old-fashioned possessions will be

:11:21.:11:24.

crucial for Hull today to be successful. I think the kicking game

:11:25.:11:30.

at the end of those sets, after contact. Defensive has to retreat.

:11:31.:11:35.

The finish are really precise. It's either back-to-back set or if it's

:11:36.:11:39.

not a back-to-back set the other team is playing the ball two to

:11:40.:11:43.

three metres out from the line. When forwards are bending that line, it

:11:44.:11:47.

gives you more room to play and you can do what you want. Again it's not

:11:48.:11:52.

complicated. If you are making moves after contact, the others are

:11:53.:11:57.

retreating, it's basic game planning and that set. But it zaps energy out

:11:58.:12:01.

of the defensive team. Brian, take us through the Hull team today.

:12:02.:12:14.

It's a formidable line-up. Local speedster Jamie Shaul in the back

:12:15.:12:18.

three. Anything can happen with that guy

:12:19.:12:29.

Kelly and kicking genius Marc Sneyd. No shortage of sides or utility on

:12:30.:12:42.

the bench for Hull. Is that a technical term, big

:12:43.:13:11.

boppers? Yeah, the coach goes, here comes the big boppers! Let's go and

:13:12.:13:15.

meet a few. Robbie is with the Hull team. What a day we have in store

:13:16.:13:22.

this afternoon. None more so for all these Hull FC fans. They seem to

:13:23.:13:27.

have the share here in the stadium. Thinking back to the kwufl, just

:13:28.:13:32.

over a month ago, one of the things I like about this Hull FC team is

:13:33.:13:37.

what they were able to do against Castleford. They strangled them in

:13:38.:13:41.

defence. We know they can score tries but one thing they took pride

:13:42.:13:46.

in that weekend because I was speaking to their coach, saying they

:13:47.:13:51.

took a lot of bride in strangling the defence of the Castleford

:13:52.:13:59.

Tigers. That will be left up to guys like this, Mark Minichiello, Liam

:14:00.:14:04.

Watts and Gareth Elis. Having a stretch here. I will see if I can

:14:05.:14:08.

have a quick word. Gareth, how important is it to make sure you get

:14:09.:14:11.

defence right today and stop the threat that is Leeds? Yeah, it's

:14:12.:14:16.

really big asset of our game we need to improve on. They're full of

:14:17.:14:21.

players that really challenge you in their offence and our defence. It's

:14:22.:14:25.

something we will have to be on with this afternoon. Is it a matter of

:14:26.:14:28.

being physical from the first minute? Yeah, that's part of our

:14:29.:14:33.

game. We are a big set of forwards and we have to take it to theirs.

:14:34.:14:38.

They play a lot. They play Rugby League to the highest level and we

:14:39.:14:41.

have to match them in every department. Thank you very much.

:14:42.:14:46.

Good luck. Damien Johnson has been talking to both of the coaches.

:14:47.:14:50.

Brian, this Challenge Cup semifinal has been your focus for a while. You

:14:51.:14:54.

rested a few players last time out. How ready are you for the big

:14:55.:14:57.

occasion? Yeah, very ready. Looking forward to it. It will be a big

:14:58.:15:06.

game. Semifinals are always nerve-racking 80 minutes' worth of

:15:07.:15:08.

just desire and passion and everything. So, we are ready for a

:15:09.:15:12.

big game. Gareth Elis is back, is he fully fit and how big a contribution

:15:13.:15:18.

are you expecting from him, even at the age of 36? He is huge for the

:15:19.:15:22.

rest of the people on the field, as well. He had a game in the reserves

:15:23.:15:27.

a couple of weeks ago and wore some bruises there and obviously started

:15:28.:15:30.

last week for us. This will be a step up in intensity for Gareth but

:15:31.:15:34.

it's a challenge he is looking forward to. What do Hull have to get

:15:35.:15:39.

right today they didn't get right in the two defeats to Leeds? We have to

:15:40.:15:44.

take our opportunities when they arise, we have to make sure we are

:15:45.:15:47.

clinical and that's semifinal football. They're usually cagey

:15:48.:15:51.

affairs, very nervous, from both sets of players. So, the team that

:15:52.:15:55.

takes opportunities usually come away with the spoils. You heard you

:15:56.:15:58.

got married this week, congratulations. A Wembley

:15:59.:16:02.

honeymoon? That will be nice. I was planning on going away at the end of

:16:03.:16:05.

the year, as well, I will take them both. You have spoken about the

:16:06.:16:09.

importance of the start. We saw Hull produce that against Castleford, why

:16:10.:16:12.

is it important in a Challenge Cup tie? Because you never really get a

:16:13.:16:17.

grip of it. Cup games in particular, but especially the semifinal,

:16:18.:16:21.

there's so much at stake, if you lose it, there is almost a fear of

:16:22.:16:26.

failure in most of the semifinals, and I don't think either team really

:16:27.:16:30.

gets a grip of the game. The history of semifinals, the momentum swings

:16:31.:16:34.

massively from team to team throughout most games, so if you

:16:35.:16:38.

knocked a few points and get hold of a game to start with it puts you in

:16:39.:16:47.

good stead. Years ago Leeds legends departed for pastures new and they

:16:48.:16:50.

sealed their exit from Leeds fittingly by doing the treble. In

:16:51.:16:55.

the last couple of weeks two more of the club's golden generation have

:16:56.:16:57.

announced they're leaving at the end of the season. What a legacy they

:16:58.:16:59.

leave behind. That zippy running style of his. And

:17:00.:17:19.

he is scampering away! Borrow got his moment of glory! It's a

:17:20.:17:24.

sensational try, there aren't many that can do that! Danny McGuire has

:17:25.:17:29.

done it. You will be seeing a lot of him in the next few years. It's a

:17:30.:17:36.

terrific try, thrilling from end to end.

:17:37.:17:43.

Danny McGuire with a sensational take and he will break away. What

:17:44.:17:46.

character and what pedigree and what a side.

:17:47.:17:53.

Danny McGuire will be wearing the player mic for us this afternoon.

:17:54.:17:56.

You know him so well, what's been special about him down the years?

:17:57.:17:59.

Danny has been a magnificent player, him and Rob are two of the modern

:18:00.:18:04.

greats of the game. Danny came on the scene as a try scorer, support

:18:05.:18:08.

player but has developed into a general and also a guy who can set

:18:09.:18:11.

up a lot of tries and create opportunities for people. He is a

:18:12.:18:16.

chap player. A chap off the field. We are fortunate to have -- a

:18:17.:18:20.

champion player. A champion off the field. We are looking forward to him

:18:21.:18:23.

bringing leadership skills. The thing that stance out for me and

:18:24.:18:27.

watching him score this try, is the amount of times he turns up at the

:18:28.:18:32.

right time and scores the try. Do you think he was a little

:18:33.:18:36.

underappreciated because he was playing alongside Kevin Sinfield are

:18:37.:18:38.

to many years to maybe the outside world? Maybe to the outside world

:18:39.:18:42.

but not amongst the dressing room. We fully preernted what a skilful

:18:43.:18:46.

player he was and how committed he was to the team, the same with Rob.

:18:47.:18:52.

They're two greats in my opinion. Rob has defied the critics

:18:53.:18:56.

throughout his career at 5'5", he has been magnificent. Just change

:18:57.:19:05.

his name to Wow Borrow. His desire and the size of the guy and his

:19:06.:19:08.

character, he changed literally changes every game. As a coach and

:19:09.:19:12.

opposition player when you are on the field the one thing you don't

:19:13.:19:17.

want to see is Rob Burrow because you go oh-oh, things are going to

:19:18.:19:21.

happen here. He truly is a great player of the modern era because of

:19:22.:19:26.

the things he has done and 500-odd games he has played. For any young

:19:27.:19:31.

kid who is told you are not big enough, not skilful enough, he is a

:19:32.:19:36.

perfect example of you can do it with perseverance and belief in

:19:37.:19:40.

yourself and played 500 games, a tough player, still has the speed

:19:41.:19:47.

off the mark. He is a genuine loss for Leeds today. He is small in

:19:48.:19:54.

stature but a giant in character and braveness. He is a good lad, as

:19:55.:20:00.

well. There he is talking to our colleagues on BBC Radio 5 Live down

:20:01.:20:04.

there. Is he somebody, sport is littered with people who will be

:20:05.:20:07.

told they can't because they're either too big or too small for the

:20:08.:20:11.

sport. He is a classic example of that, is that what made him the

:20:12.:20:15.

player he is? Having worked with him for ten years, Rob always reacted

:20:16.:20:18.

best to criticism and always felt he had a point to prove. I would say

:20:19.:20:22.

with Rob definitely that is the case. With a number of players who

:20:23.:20:28.

go on to succeed, that's what drives them, proving people wrong. Leeds

:20:29.:20:35.

have changed this year. Joel Moon has moved. What difference has it

:20:36.:20:43.

made to them. He is a great running. Any time they are inside the

:20:44.:20:47.

opposition's 20, they're thinking run the ball and certainly inside

:20:48.:20:50.

the opposition's ten. They're great runners of the ball, quick off the

:20:51.:20:54.

mark, they're elusive, both have great fans. They're a huge threat

:20:55.:21:00.

inside the opposition's 20. I think as well Joel Moon is the accidental

:21:01.:21:07.

hero. This is luck not judgment? I think so. He took his opportunity.

:21:08.:21:15.

His ability to score a try out of nothing gives Leeds that X Factor. I

:21:16.:21:19.

think perhaps they missed. I think he has been in the top three

:21:20.:21:22.

players. He should be up there for a nomination and may have a decisive

:21:23.:21:25.

factor, his ability to score a try today. Is he one of those players

:21:26.:21:28.

you don't quite know what he is going to do next and that makes him

:21:29.:21:33.

so difficult? If he sees an opportunity or gap he is going to

:21:34.:21:36.

run, that's his natural instinct because he is brilliant at running.

:21:37.:21:41.

He also has the skill set to be able to play and pass and that's the

:21:42.:21:48.

benefits of this Leeds team, they've a new dimension to their team

:21:49.:21:53.

because of him. The atmosphere is building, it's getting noisier. Take

:21:54.:21:56.

us through the Leeds team. Let's get their game plan and go

:21:57.:22:58.

back down to Robbie. We are talking about this Leeds

:22:59.:23:02.

Rhinos pack and the ability they've in the spine of the team with Danny

:23:03.:23:09.

McGuire's experience and Joel Moon's X Factor. Look at Matt Parcell, one

:23:10.:23:16.

of the smartest players in Super League. When he place the ball, gets

:23:17.:23:21.

the ball, picks it up, he keeps his head swivelling, looks at all the

:23:22.:23:25.

players and options to make sure he creates space for his players as he

:23:26.:23:29.

is getting ready for it now. We will get across and see if we can get to

:23:30.:23:32.

that man that we have been talking about.

:23:33.:23:38.

He has been a bit of a newbie too to the position of standoff for the

:23:39.:23:42.

Leeds Rhinos. I will see if I can have a quick word. How are

:23:43.:23:46.

preparations going? We have had a big week, focussed on a few things

:23:47.:23:50.

during the week, we have to start strong. They've talked about

:23:51.:23:55.

starting strong, how important is the forwards to have a platform so

:23:56.:23:58.

you can have space on the ball? Yeah, buddy, they've a big team.

:23:59.:24:03.

Play down in their half, turn them around. Give us time with the ball

:24:04.:24:09.

which will help us boys. All the best, good luck.

:24:10.:24:16.

What are the last moments like, it's filling up here, it's noisy, what is

:24:17.:24:23.

it like in the dressing room for the players? It's intense. You will have

:24:24.:24:27.

been planning this game for three or four weeks. You have the

:24:28.:24:30.

technicalities, now it's about the emotion and making sure everyone

:24:31.:24:33.

nails the game plan and gets it right. I used to love these moments

:24:34.:24:36.

before. This is what you get paid to do, play in a magnificent game and

:24:37.:24:40.

get a chance to get to Wembley. Is there a difference in the experience

:24:41.:24:44.

between the two, you younger players in a Leeds room who might not have

:24:45.:24:49.

experienced something like this? As a young guy playing in these big

:24:50.:24:52.

games, you are enthusiastic and want to get out there and show your

:24:53.:24:55.

skills. Everyone is excited when you are young, playing big games, the

:24:56.:25:01.

only way to get experience is by playing in big games. Hull probably

:25:02.:25:06.

have the jump on it there. Brian McDer not is sitting there quietly

:25:07.:25:10.

on his own, is the job down by now? He might offer the odd of wisdom to

:25:11.:25:15.

the odd player, they've been planning for a month. Both coaches

:25:16.:25:20.

have mentioned the start, hugely important today, the start for both

:25:21.:25:24.

teams. Leeds would like to be at 0-0 maybe after 20 minutes, I think they

:25:25.:25:28.

would see that as a plus. If either team goes behind it becomes

:25:29.:25:30.

stressful during the process of this game. Semifinals are about front

:25:31.:25:35.

loading your energy. Both coaches spoke about that, getting the energy

:25:36.:25:38.

at the front. Some of the interesting part for me is the

:25:39.:25:41.

technical story behind semifinals, you want to win because you want to

:25:42.:25:45.

get to Wembley. The human stories are going to this, Hull I believe

:25:46.:25:56.

won last year because they wanted to get the hoo-do of Wembley. It could

:25:57.:26:02.

be the difference between the two, I think. Hull obviously won last year,

:26:03.:26:06.

people say it's one thing to win but it's different to retain it, how

:26:07.:26:12.

much tougher is it? I can't speak from experience there,

:26:13.:26:15.

unfortunately, everyone wants to knock the best team off, the team

:26:16.:26:22.

who were there last year. This is their opportunity again.

:26:23.:26:25.

You have retained it, is it that much tougher? It is and it isn't.

:26:26.:26:29.

The other side would like to try and beat you, but you have that

:26:30.:26:33.

emotional attachment, that's your trophy, you are unbeaten in it the

:26:34.:26:37.

year before, why can't you go unbeaten again? Success breeds

:26:38.:26:43.

success. So this is it, the 2015-2016 Challenge Cup winners are

:26:44.:26:45.

up for a place at Wembley. Hull FC have made a name for

:26:46.:27:17.

themselves today. Let's join our commentary team,

:27:18.:27:23.

Brian is going up to join John Kear and Rugby League correspondent Dave

:27:24.:27:25.

Woods. There is a thing of beauty, the

:27:26.:27:31.

Challenge Cup. Playing for that, as you can see, since the 1896-1987

:27:32.:27:35.

season, what a tradition. What wonderful history.

:27:36.:27:40.

A new chapter to be written here today by one of these two sides.

:27:41.:27:48.

You can see Danny McGuire is looking flushed already. Under the bright

:27:49.:27:51.

lights, waiting to make his exit. Wonder what's going through his

:27:52.:27:59.

mind. Not many more of these in that shirt in big games. Hull FC are

:28:00.:28:06.

going out there, as well. Listen to that! Thunderous.

:28:07.:28:10.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING The noise we have now, the noise we

:28:11.:28:15.

will have throughout and thunderous is the kind of game we are expecting

:28:16.:28:20.

as well. There are some big fellas out there.

:28:21.:28:25.

There will be some subtlies but it's the battle down the middle that will

:28:26.:28:30.

provide us with a pattern of the game.

:28:31.:28:54.

The early birds, the symbol of Hull FC, will be hearing Old Faithful

:28:55.:29:02.

belted out around this ground at some point, as well in the next

:29:03.:29:03.

couple of hours. Let's look at how they're lining up

:29:04.:29:24.

today. The referee today is Phil Bentham.

:29:25.:30:08.

Should he be required, Robert Hicks is watching the screen, as is the

:30:09.:30:16.

video referee, and the two running the line. Desire, passion and

:30:17.:30:22.

belief, but who has brought those qualities in the biggest quantities

:30:23.:30:30.

to this pedigree packed semifinal? We are under way. 80 minutes to

:30:31.:30:34.

decide who is going to Wembley. We might need more than that in what is

:30:35.:30:43.

likely to be a tight affair. Both sides, for the sake of nerves if

:30:44.:30:47.

nothing does, hope it is settled in the next 80 minutes or so.

:30:48.:30:52.

Immediately, Hull moving white and going left. Let's get the early

:30:53.:30:56.

thoughts from Brian Noble and John Kear. The prize is massive. This

:30:57.:31:02.

place is bouncing. Energy will be required to the 80 minutes to get

:31:03.:31:07.

there. Hull have laid down their interventions. The Rhinos have a

:31:08.:31:12.

tight defensive line. Straightaway, they have gone to the edges. Brian

:31:13.:31:19.

Noble. They have nailed the first set, Hull. They have looked in size

:31:20.:31:25.

it, in and out of the Leeds line. Some smart half-backs that will help

:31:26.:31:26.

them. Ashton Golding will run it back. He

:31:27.:31:39.

has put it down 20 metres from his own line. Cuthbertson is at only

:31:40.:31:45.

half. Briscoe, remember him as a five try here rove -- hero. A ripple

:31:46.:31:57.

of booing for him in the background. Moon out of dummy half, driven in by

:31:58.:32:00.

Singleton. Parcell has been a revelation.

:32:01.:32:11.

Cuthbertson working his package just inside hole's territory. But they

:32:12.:32:16.

are on the last tackle, taking through McGuire. Puts it high. It is

:32:17.:32:25.

a test. Taken safely, but a good chase, and Hull will start from

:32:26.:32:31.

there. Hull had to kick the ball well today. I was interested in the

:32:32.:32:37.

view of John Kear alongside me, where the prowess of both teams

:32:38.:32:43.

comes from. Marc Sneyd, his left foot, he will want to dominate field

:32:44.:32:48.

position. Joel Moon is well known for high kicks. Brilliant from Danny

:32:49.:32:59.

Houghton. Danny Houghton doesn't always run from dummy half. Sika

:33:00.:33:07.

Manu, last tackle to come. Griffin on the six. The bounce taken by

:33:08.:33:11.

Golding. Starting with a lot of energy. Leaves in contrast playing

:33:12.:33:20.

low risk, getting to the end of the set that way. Hull holding the

:33:21.:33:25.

left-hand side, testing the right side out. We are already seeing the

:33:26.:33:32.

price of the running game of this Hull team. Every player carrying the

:33:33.:33:34.

ball to the line. Parcell there. Talking to Scott Taylor earlier, he

:33:35.:33:46.

talked about the noise. It is louder than Wembley from his experience

:33:47.:33:49.

last year. It wasn't packed to the rafters like this year. It got

:33:50.:33:55.

caught in the sunshine as far as Talanoa is concerned. He allowed it

:33:56.:33:59.

to bounce, and got lucky. It is out of play. Hull straightaway putting

:34:00.:34:05.

it into the corners along the ground. Leeds towering the ball up

:34:06.:34:12.

into the air, jamming the defence as they receive it. Talanoa couldn't

:34:13.:34:24.

find the ball in the sunshine. REFEREE: Danny, right in! That's it.

:34:25.:34:33.

Out it comes. Hull looking to batter their way back inside the Leeds half

:34:34.:34:42.

again. A penalty. A penalty for Leeds. Throwing the leads play

:34:43.:34:50.

around. I have sympathy here. I think they have been hard done,

:34:51.:34:58.

genuinely. Two wingers, Finau and Talanoa, the big Islanders, coming

:34:59.:35:02.

into the middle of the field. They want to get the team going forward

:35:03.:35:07.

and play-the-ball quickly. What about the decision not to go for

:35:08.:35:15.

goal? Interesting. Interesting, shall we say? Talking about a try in

:35:16.:35:20.

the next few minutes, it will be the right decision.

:35:21.:35:25.

Parcell out of dummy half. Singleton goes back, Moon with his dancing

:35:26.:35:32.

feet. McGuire, inside off-load, moving again. Chicory back to

:35:33.:35:33.

Parcell. Not given any room to move all

:35:34.:35:42.

think. Now it is collected by Golding. Double punt. Ward will be

:35:43.:35:51.

held up just short. But only just short. Back to McGuire again. The

:35:52.:35:58.

referees says is it is played out. Another set of six for lEEDS. --

:35:59.:36:06.

Leeds. Hull defending desperately. Parcell

:36:07.:36:17.

drops it back again. Head down and going for it, Cuthbertson. Equally

:36:18.:36:21.

committed, the Hull defence. The ball came back after the tackle was

:36:22.:36:25.

called. The referee will say, stand up. Stand up and play it again.

:36:26.:36:36.

Still in danger here, Hull. Leeds utilising the off-load game,

:36:37.:36:39.

expanding on every occasion, testing the Hull defence. Music coming on to

:36:40.:36:46.

add drama, not sure what that is about. Trying to create space,

:36:47.:36:52.

picked up by Talanoa, who can run it clear! Moon and plenty others were

:36:53.:36:58.

back. Hull won't find the passage to safety they want for themselves.

:36:59.:37:05.

Leeds chose to run the ball, instead of taking two points, even when Hull

:37:06.:37:11.

are fresh, defending their own line magnificently, forcing the error,

:37:12.:37:14.

marshalling it to halfway. They will feel good about themselves at this

:37:15.:37:19.

moment in time. Definitely a psychological win the Hull. We talk

:37:20.:37:23.

about brilliant attacking play two separate sites. We have seen the

:37:24.:37:27.

other side, defence. When the opposition have the ball, you have

:37:28.:37:31.

to make extra effort into defence to get where you need to be. Putting it

:37:32.:37:40.

high, high, high in the air. Briscoe has lost it. Here come Hull,

:37:41.:37:49.

Minichiello finding a way over. But, but, but was there an obstruction on

:37:50.:37:54.

his way to the line? We are going to the video referee.

:37:55.:38:00.

REFEREE: Contact and is there an obstruction?

:38:01.:38:05.

Let's hear from the video referee. Possible obstruction, from a kick.

:38:06.:38:14.

We need to check they are onside. Houston is offside, we have to see

:38:15.:38:19.

that through. So they are wrong side. I need to check that first,

:38:20.:38:23.

please, to check what happens on the contest. And whether there is a

:38:24.:38:34.

potential obstruction. So, first of all, I need to check if there is a

:38:35.:38:38.

knock-on by Briscoe, and if there is contact on him. Both looking for the

:38:39.:38:43.

ball. Doesn't appear to be any contact there. And then the ball is

:38:44.:38:49.

lost by Briscoe. I would like to see that slow, please, to check if there

:38:50.:38:54.

is contact on Briscoe, and check if he is challenging for the ball. OK,

:38:55.:39:05.

so Tuimavave has his arms up. I can't see any contact off that

:39:06.:39:09.

replay. He is not a challenging for the ball in my opinion. So the call

:39:10.:39:12.

is no try. So, we can play on from here. If it

:39:13.:39:33.

isn't no try, it is a scrum to Hull. We need to look... If we can play it

:39:34.:39:36.

on from behind, and then check. Yeah, so we go on from here. Check

:39:37.:39:54.

what happens here. He runs behind his own man. There looks to be depth

:39:55.:40:00.

on that. What I would like to do, before that, can we go back and

:40:01.:40:04.

check, when he drops the ball, whether he is taken to the ground. I

:40:05.:40:09.

have to make sure he doesn't knock-on, and is entitled to catch

:40:10.:40:16.

the ball. So, it's before that. Yeah, it's before that, sorry.

:40:17.:40:22.

So, once he drops the ball, is there any contact on him, or does he just

:40:23.:40:30.

fall to the floor? He has tackled him there, and he hasn't got the

:40:31.:40:34.

ball. He had to be entitled to be in the play. We don't need to go on

:40:35.:40:39.

from there. The first offence is the knock-on, so it will be a scrum to

:40:40.:40:41.

Hull. Ten metres out, yes. COMMENTATOR: No try, knock-on. What

:40:42.:41:00.

do you make of that? I am confused. For me, that is a try every day of

:41:01.:41:08.

the week. Leeds defenders have come up with a poor read on Minichiello.

:41:09.:41:12.

He runs under the sticks, and they go flat out. That was their

:41:13.:41:17.

decision. It was very deep, but it did run round the back of the man.

:41:18.:41:24.

But the first offence was a knock-on, and it was a tackle before

:41:25.:41:29.

he hit the ground. I can tell you, Mr Briscoe will receive many more

:41:30.:41:34.

high kicks through the rest of the game. Hull five metres out. Howden

:41:35.:41:37.

goes left again, driven in by. Sneyd, this is Taylor. Scott Taylor,

:41:38.:41:57.

joining us before kick off, how important it was and emotional it

:41:58.:42:01.

was to win the cup last year as a hometown boy. Kelly goes right.

:42:02.:42:06.

An elbow touches the whitewash, taking him out of play. It is

:42:07.:42:12.

Leeds's turn to celebrate in defence. Defensively, we are not

:42:13.:42:19.

calling that today. Fantastic attacking play, well done, Leeds.

:42:20.:42:23.

Whoever will win to date, Brian, they have to learn this, because it

:42:24.:42:27.

looks as if both teams are absolutely desperate for success,

:42:28.:42:32.

and are really willing to work hard for each other, especially the most

:42:33.:42:37.

important area, defence. I still need someone should tell me why the

:42:38.:42:40.

try was chalked off. We will talk about it after the game we can sit

:42:41.:42:46.

down after the game and have a good chat... Here is Parcell out of dummy

:42:47.:42:52.

half. Watkins raging to the right-hand side, with a bit of space

:42:53.:42:56.

here for Briscoe. He rolls another ten yards or so. Parcell again. A

:42:57.:43:08.

hop and a skip, and a push by Ward. Goes to the halfway line.

:43:09.:43:13.

Cuthbertson loves and off-load, loves and off-load but Liam Watts

:43:14.:43:18.

and has got himself in the way to prevent him thinking in that manner.

:43:19.:43:24.

Jones-Buchanan on tackle five, so here comes the six. Where does it go

:43:25.:43:32.

you? Left to McGuire. Fonua underneath it, we know how good he

:43:33.:43:36.

is under a high ball in attack or defence. Solid hits but he hardly

:43:37.:43:41.

moves an inch. Not a bag tactic -- bad tactic. If he has two catch the

:43:42.:43:46.

ball with defenders around him, it takes is running game out of

:43:47.:43:50.

equation. That is part of the game plan, get your kick chased down

:43:51.:43:56.

there. The prowess in their side retrieving the ball and responding.

:43:57.:44:06.

Houghton, not a 40-20. It has not even made a distance, collected

:44:07.:44:08.

instead by Golding. Sneyd up there to make the tackle.

:44:09.:44:13.

The players allowed get on with it. Briscoe just to Parcell's right.

:44:14.:44:30.

Parcell trying to work himself through. He is a good hooker. He

:44:31.:44:34.

does keep you honest around that area. A bit of a fumble. Ward on

:44:35.:44:41.

again. McGuire up to the line, back to

:44:42.:44:53.

Moon. Moon again. It's all over the place. He is going backwards. He did

:44:54.:45:01.

well that time. He can embarrass you, but Fonua did a great job. The

:45:02.:45:07.

ball is not in play much at the moment. Shaul brings it back. You

:45:08.:45:13.

had to stop this guy taking a running play, because, my word, he

:45:14.:45:19.

is a big, big man. Four of them involved. Houghton off to the other

:45:20.:45:27.

big fella on the other wing, Talanoa. Another five yards gained.

:45:28.:45:36.

Sheer determination. Tuimavave picks it up from dummy half.

:45:37.:45:45.

Kelly's pass picks out Griffin. Griffin engages two defenders.

:45:46.:45:52.

Again, on the last. Again, it will be a kick. Again, it is Kelly. Going

:45:53.:45:57.

towards the middle, Sneyd puts it high. Briscoe is underneath it.

:45:58.:46:02.

Another test for Tommy. He hasn't got there. Back it goes, a kick from

:46:03.:46:11.

Sneyd. Zero tackle. Leeds get it from there. Another indication of

:46:12.:46:14.

where the high kicks are going for Hull FC. Tom Briscoe is having a

:46:15.:46:20.

busy afternoon. He has to get use of that feeling, the ball dangling.

:46:21.:46:26.

Leeds handled it well, and they handled the recovery well after the

:46:27.:46:32.

kick. They need decent field position coming out of their own

:46:33.:46:34.

half. He caught his foot in that last tackle. The pressure put him

:46:35.:46:42.

into that situation, Dave. Moon again. A little pitching wedge

:46:43.:46:55.

into the in-goal area. Back goes Shaul. Safely back to the ten again.

:46:56.:47:01.

There is no hiding place for anyone at the moment, no stoppages. There

:47:02.:47:06.

isn't. It is a high tempo game and a high-intensity game. Houghton up and

:47:07.:47:13.

away. Watts does well to take that. What about that pass from the big

:47:14.:47:20.

fella! A prop forward with handling skills like that, catching it and

:47:21.:47:24.

getting the pass away as well. You can tell it is a semifinal of a cup,

:47:25.:47:29.

he is not allowed to do that! A try talk of earlier. -- chalked off. A

:47:30.:47:40.

200 career appearance Phil Taylor today. Sneyd with a kick to the

:47:41.:47:42.

corner. Chased hard by Talanoa. They will be disappointed with that,

:47:43.:47:57.

Hull FC, because seven tackles might not sound much, but the zero tackle,

:47:58.:48:03.

my word, often, if you get a roll on, it can be costly. If you think

:48:04.:48:09.

this is breathless, you should have watched the wheelchair World Cup

:48:10.:48:12.

final last, France against England, France won it in the last few

:48:13.:48:17.

seconds. It is a terrific sport when you get into it. We will show it at

:48:18.:48:26.

half-time. Fascinating. Leeds are going at the right or the left

:48:27.:48:33.

channel. Peppering the edges. The pass bounces. Jones-Buchanan out to

:48:34.:48:41.

Ryan Hall. They are up in his face. 15 minutes played, where did they

:48:42.:48:42.

go? Cuthbertson in and out again. There is Kallum Watkins. This is

:48:43.:49:03.

McGuire again. All the time in the world to measure that kick.

:49:04.:49:08.

Underneath it is Fonua. He caught it in the in-goal area. Smart. He knew

:49:09.:49:15.

he had to get a foot back in there to give him the extra tackle. We

:49:16.:49:21.

will see what Hull can do with their extra tackle.

:49:22.:49:26.

You want to be fit to play this game, don't you. The tackle count so

:49:27.:49:34.

far, completion rate is pretty high. It is a high-quality game, isn't it,

:49:35.:49:36.

it really is. Sika Manu goes down ten inside the

:49:37.:49:52.

Leeds half. Joining in is Shaul, and a drop of the hip by Tuimavave. They

:49:53.:49:58.

made decent progress in this set, Hull. Sneyd again. Back the Liam

:49:59.:50:02.

Watts. 15 metres away. One tackle to go.

:50:03.:50:06.

Houghton to Snead. Kicking towards the corner again.

:50:07.:50:19.

The choir has got it, tackled instantly by Talanoa. Leaves start

:50:20.:50:26.

from there. They didn't quite find it there. Absolutely bang on, that

:50:27.:50:35.

is where they have got to kick. He had a pitching wedge instead of a

:50:36.:50:38.

sand wedge. He needed a bit more on it. Leeds looking latter role.

:50:39.:50:49.

Keinhorst has lost it. It is a straight loss according to the

:50:50.:50:55.

referee. Hull get the decision. A feed for The Black And Whites. I

:50:56.:50:59.

think he did lose it. Let's have a look. He has lost that. He has a

:51:00.:51:10.

responsibility, Keinhorst. They are not going to make it easy for you,

:51:11.:51:14.

especially in the Challenge Cup. This really is only the second

:51:15.:51:20.

stoppage after the only refereeing decision. My goodness, it has been

:51:21.:51:22.

herons Geron. A slight delay here because Ward has

:51:23.:51:37.

a busted nose, and the blood has gone on his shirt. The referee wants

:51:38.:51:40.

him off the field to have that cleaned up. I don't think anyone on

:51:41.:51:46.

the field is complaining about it. Take your time, Stephen. We are

:51:47.:51:57.

getting a breather here. REFEREE: Heads in! Hull have stuck

:51:58.:52:04.

all the good players -- big players on the one side. Let's see what

:52:05.:52:10.

happens if. In goes Watts. Lost it. Lost it. First play, loses the ball.

:52:11.:52:20.

He has explained it. REFEREE: It was similar to the one

:52:21.:52:24.

over there. A good explanation from Phil Bentham, what is good for the

:52:25.:52:29.

goose is good for the gander. As long as we keep that consistency all

:52:30.:52:33.

the way through. You can see the carry, they will not make it easy to

:52:34.:52:38.

retain the ball. Just losing it. Knock-on. You have a responsibly to

:52:39.:52:47.

do carry the ball when you go into traffic. One of the wise owls in the

:52:48.:52:55.

box before the game was suggesting, 20 minutes gone, if it is 0-0, Leeds

:52:56.:53:00.

will be happier. Do you think they are? I think so, yeah. They have

:53:01.:53:06.

taken away the Hull start. We have seen them this season with so many

:53:07.:53:09.

starts where teams had to play a lot of catch up. Leeds have enough

:53:10.:53:14.

talent in their team to score at any time. Parcell, and now taken on by

:53:15.:53:23.

Anthony Mullally. Is he the first interchange today of any site? I

:53:24.:53:28.

believe so. I believe it is for Brad Singleton.

:53:29.:53:36.

Jones-Buchanan puts the shoulder in, drives it in. Here comes the final

:53:37.:53:42.

tackle. The final play in this set. Again, a high one. The Noah, again,

:53:43.:53:53.

is underneath it, but so is Ryan Hall. He reckons he has got this

:53:54.:54:00.

down! Wow, if he did. He thinks he did. It is the video ref with the

:54:01.:54:05.

final decision. REFEREE: It is from a kick again. We

:54:06.:54:11.

need to check the on-site first, then onto the grounding if that is

:54:12.:54:18.

OK. Pause it on his foot. Mullally is in front, and nobody else.

:54:19.:54:23.

Mullally has two stay out of ten. And he is outside the tent. I need

:54:24.:54:26.

to see a close-up of the cat, please. -- of the ten. Into his

:54:27.:54:35.

hands. He catches the ball clean, brings it down. You need to see the

:54:36.:54:45.

ball as it goes down. Lose the animation, please. It looks a try

:54:46.:54:49.

from that angle. Can I see it from the other side, please? It is taken

:54:50.:54:55.

by Ryan Hall. Slow, please. Can we take that nice and slow from that

:54:56.:54:59.

angle, so we can see the ball go down. OK, down in his hand, that's a

:55:00.:55:09.

try. Confirming the live decision. COMMENTATOR: For the size and power

:55:10.:55:13.

Ryan Hall possesses, it is his balance that wins the day on that

:55:14.:55:16.

occasion. That is an absolutely to refix finish by a terrific finisher.

:55:17.:55:22.

It really was. Sometimes you have just got to make things happen. Hull

:55:23.:55:29.

took an intake of breath, because it looked an indifferent kick from Joel

:55:30.:55:35.

Moon. It looked safe for Fonua. He is printing, saying he is going to

:55:36.:55:38.

make something happen. "I Am going to take the ball and score the first

:55:39.:55:41.

try." A great try from Ryan Hall. Absolutely magnificent work there

:55:42.:55:53.

from Hull. They time everything to perfection. His run, he accelerated

:55:54.:55:58.

into it, allowing him to get over the top of Fonua and grounding the

:55:59.:56:02.

ball. The reason the crowd think what just watched this kick...

:56:03.:56:11.

Kallum Watkins, not necessarily a first choice kicker, but he has

:56:12.:56:17.

landed 19 so far this season, 20 make that. The crowd think it is an

:56:18.:56:24.

ordinary kick. Most of them are thinking, Fonua will clean this up

:56:25.:56:31.

easily. Here is the kick. There is one bloke on the field that says he

:56:32.:56:36.

will make something of the kick. Four Hull defenders, out jumping

:56:37.:56:40.

Fonua what with the run on him. Not only that, he has courted and

:56:41.:56:45.

slammed it down as well. Here he comes again. He is a man for a big

:56:46.:56:55.

occasion. That is why he is international class. He makes things

:56:56.:56:56.

happen. He scored a try in every game, by

:56:57.:57:07.

average, that he has played for England. Here is tablet. -- Ablett.

:57:08.:57:22.

Here comes Golding. A flash of lightning coming from the back. Gets

:57:23.:57:34.

another tester. Fonua has not got the last one out of his head yet. A

:57:35.:57:44.

simple catch. That will be a message sent out by Lee Radford. Make sure

:57:45.:57:49.

it is a big, contested area for Ryan Hall to get at the ball. That was a

:57:50.:57:53.

good set from Leeds from the kick-off to end up with an attacking

:57:54.:57:57.

kick. He has lost that. It has gone backwards. The touch judge gave that

:57:58.:58:01.

call to the referee. Griffin involved in that

:58:02.:58:12.

breathtaking Million Pound Game for Salford last year. A moment of magic

:58:13.:58:17.

from him. Salford featuring in the second semifinal tomorrow against

:58:18.:58:18.

Wigan. It will be good as well. Kelly, we have not seen too much of

:58:19.:58:38.

him so far. Stayed again. Again, Briscoe underneath the high ball. He

:58:39.:58:46.

has company. Back to one. Still, back to one. Tuimavave. I think

:58:47.:58:57.

Leeds need someone to help him out and hamper the Hull chase. Taylor to

:58:58.:59:02.

Ellis. Ellis followed determination and desire, but meets a like-minded

:59:03.:59:09.

Leeds defence. Out it comes to Kelly. Look at that gap! Look at

:59:10.:59:16.

that gap! It was like a conjuror's trick. They

:59:17.:59:24.

watched him go right. No one sensed he might:. And he gets underneath

:59:25.:59:35.

the trick. His X factor here is, he sees a gap on the inside, and he has

:59:36.:59:41.

so much speed and clever footwork, he can make the most of that. This

:59:42.:59:45.

is the initial error from Tom Briscoe. A challenge for the ball,

:59:46.:59:51.

getting nowhere near that. Leeds getting help on the kick. It takes

:59:52.:59:56.

it back to one. Here is Kelly. Mullally over chasing. Kelly sees

:59:57.:00:04.

that. Off his right foot and in on the inside. He overworked, and

:00:05.:00:08.

dropped out of the defensive line, they were not going to stop him.

:00:09.:00:15.

What a try. Should be all square again in a

:00:16.:00:33.

moment. Marc Sneyd with with the kick.

:00:34.:00:40.

It's been a good game. Really enjoyed this game so far. It's an

:00:41.:00:47.

outstanding occasion, really is. A bit of everything. And some lovely

:00:48.:01:01.

touches too. It's all square. 6-6. Absolutely nothing in this game at

:01:02.:01:07.

this point. Both forwards packs, a massive arm wrestle. Hull FC have a

:01:08.:01:13.

tendency to kick on from these points. One day someone's going to

:01:14.:01:21.

tackle him, aren't they! I hope so! Would be Twitter gold!

:01:22.:01:30.

One of the things I mentioned at the start, Hull need energy to perform

:01:31.:01:39.

at their best. The players they've got, emotional energy that they need

:01:40.:01:46.

and that score clearly helps you. I think this little bit of break in

:01:47.:01:50.

the score will recharge batteries on the Hull team. There is Elis,

:01:51.:01:55.

battling away. He had been out for three months until he returned last

:01:56.:02:02.

week from a sternum injury against Huddersfield.

:02:03.:02:18.

The chase is on again. It's more difficult than he was expecting!

:02:19.:02:32.

What a great chase there. A four-man chase that put pressure first of all

:02:33.:02:36.

on the kick-off and secondly, on the return. Two tackles, they've got

:02:37.:02:46.

nowhere. It's Ryan Hall's turn to try to bring it to relative safety.

:02:47.:02:51.

Leeds beyond the 10-metre mark. Look where Leeds are kicking from.

:02:52.:02:59.

Tackle 5 on the 20-metre line. They're going to run it. Sheer want

:03:00.:03:14.

wins. Want wins for Briscoe. Back inside again. He has support from

:03:15.:03:21.

McGuire. Oh, the pass! Not quite what he wanted it. Absolutely

:03:22.:03:24.

brilliant until that final moment. I am with you. Brilliant, brilliant.

:03:25.:03:29.

And then a bit of a brain explosion, it's hard to be too critical. Bear

:03:30.:03:36.

in mind he tells us it's the last play. No, we are going to pass the

:03:37.:03:40.

ball. Get into space and then you don't really want him to throw it

:03:41.:03:45.

into touch but he does. Absolutely marvellous. To finish the set there

:03:46.:03:50.

is better... It is, you have to credit the courage of Leeds. They

:03:51.:03:52.

were under pressure inside their own 20 and they opted to run it on the

:03:53.:03:57.

last tackle with a wide shift. Good physical effort. Did a good job

:03:58.:04:18.

Jimmy Keinhorst, the only marker. It's end-to-end this stuff. It's

:04:19.:04:22.

fabulous. It's held and five tackles gone.

:04:23.:04:34.

Here comes the last. Sneyd again. Guess where it's going? Towards

:04:35.:04:46.

Briscoe again. Knock-on, in the air. Wonder what's on the tip sheet. He

:04:47.:04:58.

has to execute it, as well. Poor old Tom Briscoe is under mighty

:04:59.:05:04.

pressure. It was a knock-on as rightly identified by the officials.

:05:05.:05:10.

12 to go in the first half. All-square. Garbutt is on the field.

:05:11.:05:25.

Mitch Garbutt. Jones-Buchanan keeps going and

:05:26.:05:48.

going. With all the same enthusiasm that he has always had. Here comes

:05:49.:05:52.

Moon again. It's knocked on. In his own goal

:05:53.:06:04.

area. What a result for Leeds that is. That is a result and a half. You

:06:05.:06:09.

can see the disappointment on his face. Let's it bounce thinking it

:06:10.:06:15.

may go dead in goal, it's near the post. Great result for Leeds, from

:06:16.:06:22.

nothing. Yes, you felt that the ball was hoofed down field, wanted

:06:23.:06:25.

territory and they've got an even better result, they've got the ball

:06:26.:06:35.

and some territory. Fascinating kicks from both teams.

:06:36.:06:42.

Leeds know they've a real platform here. A real platform to try and

:06:43.:06:48.

deliver. Garbutt takes it on again. Four

:06:49.:07:03.

tackles to go. Leeds are creeping closer. McGuire with a dummy.

:07:04.:07:08.

Clutched at by Ellis. Others there too. Including Green who is on off

:07:09.:07:16.

the bench. There is the position, two plays to go. They're right in

:07:17.:07:21.

the middle of the field. They can go either way. The last play, the last

:07:22.:07:28.

spin of the dice here, McGuire goes right again. Spins it out. Watkins

:07:29.:07:33.

comes in, grabs it. Three on the outside. Puts the kick in. Oh! Ryan

:07:34.:07:42.

Hall claims it. He is dancing with delight. Never mind claiming it! But

:07:43.:07:50.

they have to go upstairs again. He says try. What does the video

:07:51.:07:57.

referee have to say about this? Tackle five, live decision is try.

:07:58.:08:03.

Firstly from a kick so check the onside, please. Pause it on his

:08:04.:08:11.

foot. They are onside and then it's the grounding now. Checking whether

:08:12.:08:16.

he gets the ball down and whether it's in the field of play. Go slow.

:08:17.:08:23.

It's in his hand. It's difficult to tell off that as it's quite blurred.

:08:24.:08:27.

This one might give us more of an idea. It's in his hand, still in his

:08:28.:08:34.

hand. That could be down there. His foot is in the field of play. It's

:08:35.:08:39.

whether he loses the ball first. Looks like he is in the field of

:08:40.:08:42.

play, it's whether the ball is grounded. Nothing to show that his

:08:43.:08:46.

hand has come off that ball. Looks like that's his hand and could

:08:47.:09:03.

still be on the ball there. Have nothing to overturn on that. That

:09:04.:09:06.

looks like that's his hand on the ball. There is no evidence it's not.

:09:07.:09:11.

Can we see the angle from the other side to confirm it's in the field of

:09:12.:09:20.

play still. And the one from the opposite corner, please.

:09:21.:09:26.

That looks like he is grounded. I am give ago try. There are his white

:09:27.:09:29.

boots. His hand is in the way. I can't prove that the ball isn't in

:09:30.:09:33.

the field of play. The live decision is a try. It looks as though I have

:09:34.:09:41.

no evidence to overturn that try. It's going to be another moment for

:09:42.:09:46.

Ryan Hall's show reel. You will need a big box of popcorn to watch the

:09:47.:09:52.

whole of his showreel. But another smiling moment for the man of the

:09:53.:09:56.

moment. Well, sometimes teams are at their most dangerous when they make

:09:57.:10:01.

it up. Leeds Rhinos on that last play made it up. You thought Danny

:10:02.:10:06.

McGunfire had made a mistake initially. -- McGunfire. Then the

:10:07.:10:13.

ball to Watkins and the finish from Hall is sensational. Really system.

:10:14.:10:18.

Two kicked tries from Ryan Hall. Fantastic chase, fantastic skill in

:10:19.:10:28.

finishing them. He has ticked the desire box there, got there, my

:10:29.:10:31.

initial reaction was he lost the ball at the end, clearly not enough

:10:32.:10:37.

evidence to overturn the decision. What a wonderful finish from Ryan

:10:38.:10:38.

Hall. Kallum Watkins takes this job very,

:10:39.:10:54.

very seriously. And he delivers. He delivers! Two

:10:55.:11:01.

out of two. And Leeds back with a 6-point lead at 12-6. Fantastic.

:11:02.:11:09.

Watkins, you wouldn't... He is landing these goals perfectly well.

:11:10.:11:13.

Keeps really with in a Super League game at Salford previously but you

:11:14.:11:16.

wouldn't think it was a semifinal. He is just stroking them over

:11:17.:11:20.

without any problem whatsoever. Ryan Hall's writing his name all

:11:21.:11:31.

over this Cup semifinal at the moment. The red button forum is on

:11:32.:11:39.

after we finish here on BBC One and usual contact on social media. And

:11:40.:11:46.

tomorrow Wigan and Salford. That's going to be a story one way

:11:47.:11:55.

or the other. Albert Kelly, they've made him do plenty of work. There is

:11:56.:11:59.

a couple of things tactically Leeds are trying to do. They're trying to

:12:00.:12:04.

work Kelly over and Sneyd over to the other side of the field to make

:12:05.:12:11.

half-backs tight so they can't play with the prowes they both clearly

:12:12.:12:19.

have Just over seven minutes of the first half remaining.

:12:20.:12:24.

This is a crucial seven minutes, as well. The Rhinos get another score

:12:25.:12:31.

they'll go in with ten out of ten. But Hull FC come back and boy, have

:12:32.:12:37.

we got a good second half coming up. Penalty.

:12:38.:12:41.

That might help. Is that the first one? I was going to ask that. That's

:12:42.:12:46.

the first penalty, I could be wrong. One each I think it is. Second

:12:47.:12:51.

penalty. First one for Hull. First one in early part of the game and

:12:52.:12:57.

they tapped it, rather than take the two points. Good job we brought

:12:58.:13:08.

uncle John to keep us straight! I meant the first penalty for Hull!

:13:09.:13:09.

Good work. Now a push by Bowden. Ten metres

:13:10.:13:33.

away. Getting closer. Another great carry after contact. Has done that a

:13:34.:13:38.

couple of times now Josh Bowden. Kelly again.

:13:39.:13:44.

Sneyd. They're coming at numbers. Coming at angles! They're over the

:13:45.:13:54.

line in the shape of Carlos Tuimavave the Samoan international,

:13:55.:13:58.

sliding in. And Hull might be level again in just a few moments' time.

:13:59.:14:04.

Well, take a bow, Josh Bowden. He creates, attracts attention and

:14:05.:14:13.

attracts the extra defender to stop. It's what happens after the two long

:14:14.:14:16.

balls to first Kelly and Sneyd going up the line. Here is the penalty

:14:17.:14:21.

initially. That's for hanging on too long.

:14:22.:14:25.

Play the ball there. Here is the whopper from Houghton out of dummy

:14:26.:14:30.

half. Here is the next from Kelly to Sneyd. Sneyd straightens up because

:14:31.:14:36.

they've created the numbers. Tuimavave just has to catch this

:14:37.:14:45.

ball, he picks out Danny McGunfire. That's on the -- McGuire. And able

:14:46.:14:50.

to move the ball to create numbers op the fringe. Really good work by

:14:51.:14:56.

Sneyd, as well. Took the ball right to the line and made sure the line

:14:57.:15:01.

was on... It made that line from two even more important. A cracking tie.

:15:02.:15:06.

I am with you, I think you can put that down, but the assistant to go

:15:07.:15:11.

to Josh Bowden. He has been a real handful since he has come on the

:15:12.:15:18.

field. It's a good game this. A cracker.

:15:19.:15:22.

It's what the cup's all about, packed house, nice warm day. Two

:15:23.:15:29.

teams getting stuck into each other. I bet we have another definition of

:15:30.:15:33.

what the cup is all about before this weekend is up. You will, you

:15:34.:15:36.

will. Sneyd looking to level things. The rocking motion of his. Has he

:15:37.:15:52.

put it over? Yes, he has. The chant of Sneyd from the fans. 12-12. We

:15:53.:15:56.

are back where we started. All square again. This is quality. It's

:15:57.:16:08.

quality from Kelly and then Sneyd. It was interesting they got Shaul

:16:09.:16:12.

around the back, as well, which would also have caused problems.

:16:13.:16:15.

Absolutely. So four minutes of the half

:16:16.:16:25.

remaining. Shaul's joining in. Tuimavave

:16:26.:16:49.

dancing away again. It's a big three-quarter line. It's

:16:50.:16:53.

a physical three-quarter line. Kelly. Looking to work his magic and

:16:54.:17:02.

almost bouncing through. Griffin picks it up to have a go. Not quite

:17:03.:17:07.

had the stellar season he would have been hoping for this year, Josh

:17:08.:17:11.

Griffin since his move to Hull but there is still time. That's a good

:17:12.:17:15.

offload. A great offload because here comes

:17:16.:17:21.

Watkins. Out comes Sneyd again. They've got the numbers. Briscoe

:17:22.:17:29.

knocked it down. Had to do it. But the momentum really had shifted to

:17:30.:17:35.

Hull. There was speed in there, and it was outnumbered 2-1. If he

:17:36.:17:39.

couldn't wrap the man up, ball and all, he had to play the ball. It's a

:17:40.:17:43.

great offload from Shaul which created the space. It sucked

:17:44.:17:51.

defendanteders in. Then they shifted the ball. That's where Briscoe saves

:17:52.:18:00.

the day for the Rhinos. Head and feet for Hull. Only ten

:18:01.:18:04.

metres away. This could be a big moment in this match. This could be

:18:05.:18:08.

a very, very big set of six. Might not be but it could be oh, look at

:18:09.:18:15.

the step from Watts! Almost through. Five away. Hull turning the screw a

:18:16.:18:24.

little tighter again. Maguire with a desperate tackle. They were all at

:18:25.:18:31.

sea. They had to make that. Houghton looks to his right. It's Bowden

:18:32.:18:36.

again. To the ground this time. Houghton. They're within sight of

:18:37.:18:42.

that Leeds line. Houghton shuffles to his right, puts his head down.

:18:43.:18:48.

Two tackles in the set to go. Kelly in the middle. Kelly with a

:18:49.:18:53.

pass. Leeds are pushing on. Sneyd with a dummy. Was it a forward pass?

:18:54.:18:59.

No, it wasn't. Just short. Here comes the last play. Leeds are

:19:00.:19:03.

hanging on. Sneyd's kick is flat. I think it's a deflection. Kelly with

:19:04.:19:11.

a catch. An absolutely miraculous pass away that Chris Green pounces

:19:12.:19:18.

and scores. Unbelievable! Unbelievable! What a set of six that

:19:19.:19:26.

was. Absolutely outstanding Rugby League. It really was. Danny McGuire

:19:27.:19:40.

saved the day early in the set. Watch this. It's almost like a flat

:19:41.:19:47.

pass. Great work that was. Put it in the area where there is lots of

:19:48.:19:55.

numbers. What about the offload? My word. Takes your breath away. Really

:19:56.:20:02.

does. The skill there, low, pumped pass, great catch. Then offload

:20:03.:20:07.

there. The claim from Leeds is that was forward. The person in the best

:20:08.:20:16.

position is wearing red and he is called Phil Bentham and he has

:20:17.:20:19.

allowed it. Some complaints from behind the sticks. Plenty of

:20:20.:20:23.

complaints in the stands from the Leeds fans when they saw that try

:20:24.:20:30.

replayed on the big screen. Chris Green doesn't score many as those

:20:31.:20:33.

stats reveal but that's a big game. That's a huge one. What about the

:20:34.:20:38.

timing, as well? You couldn't have got it closer to the half-time.

:20:39.:20:44.

Absolutely outstanding. What a great first 40 minutes. It still is,

:20:45.:20:48.

whether Sneyd kicks this or not. You can put your mortgage on him kicking

:20:49.:20:55.

it. 18-12 should he do it. It's still anybody's game. So the last

:20:56.:21:07.

act of a thrilling first half will be Sneyd's kick for goal which gives

:21:08.:21:17.

his side a 6-point lead. 18-12, the half-time score. What a

:21:18.:21:22.

semifinal, what a Cup tie. Twice Leeds were in the lead. But couldn't

:21:23.:21:30.

quite hang on. Danny Houghton at the moment is down there speaking with

:21:31.:21:34.

Damien Johnson. What's your verdict on the first

:21:35.:21:39.

half, it's as tight as everyone predicted? It is. Thankfully we have

:21:40.:21:43.

come out top the last 15 minutes and hopefully can build on that into the

:21:44.:21:47.

second half. How big a psychological blow scoring before half-time?

:21:48.:21:51.

Hopefully it will be for us, I thought we grew into the game really

:21:52.:21:56.

well. We will regroup and kick on. Thanks, Danny. Well, what a half of

:21:57.:22:06.

Rugby League we have had. They've delivered on the day. It was a

:22:07.:22:11.

physical start to the game. They've both chanced their arm a little. The

:22:12.:22:20.

sign of the quality of the game is the tries indirectly or directly

:22:21.:22:23.

from kicked sets. Both sides should be applauded for what they've

:22:24.:22:27.

delivered in a high pressure game. Talk us through the first try. A

:22:28.:22:31.

brilliant one from Hall. It's a case of chasing lost causes. We were

:22:32.:22:38.

speaking earlier in the commentary about a great kick from Leeds into

:22:39.:22:43.

the corner and then Ryan Hall chasing it to the end. Gets over.

:22:44.:22:49.

Originally when the ball was kicked probably didn't think it was a great

:22:50.:22:53.

kick. But it's the effort from Hall. He is the only person who has chased

:22:54.:22:56.

it and he really believes he can get the ball. In the end the kick is

:22:57.:23:00.

probably too long but the effort to get there and then obviously the

:23:01.:23:03.

skill to catch it and get it down has got the try. But just effort,

:23:04.:23:08.

effort. It's a world-class finish, as well. Has the smallest of margins

:23:09.:23:13.

to get that ball down and he is a big bloke and to get that shows why

:23:14.:23:17.

he has been voted one of the world's best wingers. Why is he the man for

:23:18.:23:23.

these big occasions? I love him, he has a bit of an ego about him, and

:23:24.:23:28.

he is playing against a great player and will be thinking I want to get

:23:29.:23:33.

one over him, if he is my winger. He has done that so far. We go back and

:23:34.:23:40.

got it even, it's been a tough half for Tom Briscoe, they've gone for

:23:41.:23:44.

him. Hull have purposely targeted Tom. He is going to have to live

:23:45.:23:48.

with that. He could do with help from people around him and support

:23:49.:23:53.

there. But this is clearly from the strategy book. They're going to have

:23:54.:23:56.

to compete for everything. To be fair, of the four players they've

:23:57.:23:58.

put down there they've come up with a result three times. So it's a

:23:59.:24:03.

great strategy. I think it's great watching this try, just repeat,

:24:04.:24:09.

repeat, doing something and have the discipline to do it. The criticism

:24:10.:24:15.

at sides would be they don't have the discipline to stick to a game

:24:16.:24:20.

plan. It's that little chip into the corner. What about this from Kelly.

:24:21.:24:27.

I think they've switched off here. Any coach will tell you, I think all

:24:28.:24:35.

these guys who know they switched off, don't go sideways. Mullal

:24:36.:24:44.

yeshgs won't be impressed with what he has done there. Kelly is too

:24:45.:24:49.

smart and too quick. He is gone. It's opened up like the Red sap sea

:24:50.:24:56.

for him. All I will be thinking is get there he is going to run and he

:24:57.:25:01.

run and stepped on the inside. They would have spoke about it all week.

:25:02.:25:06.

Sure enough Kelly has run inside 10, 20. It's concentration. They had

:25:07.:25:11.

been quiet up to that point. As the game goes on you start to tire and

:25:12.:25:14.

you are not making right decisions and then you switch off for a moment

:25:15.:25:20.

and it's a try. Ryan Hall pops up again, chasing a lost cause it

:25:21.:25:26.

seemed here. Again this is the Leeds Rhinos we know. Danny is not sure

:25:27.:25:29.

what to do. Gets the ball to Watkins. You can see the guys

:25:30.:25:33.

pointing here. They want the kick. It's a case of timing the run and

:25:34.:25:36.

chasing it to the death. What a wonderful finish again. It's an

:25:37.:25:39.

absolutely world-class finish to chase that down and get the ball

:25:40.:25:43.

down like that. He has no right to get that try. Didn't have the right

:25:44.:25:47.

to get the first one if defenders do their job. But world-class. He had

:25:48.:25:51.

the desire. He had the effort. The speed. And the skill at the end to

:25:52.:25:57.

get that ball down. He knows that line is there. He is thinking I can

:25:58.:26:02.

get this down. It's a sign of the times, three of the tries are down

:26:03.:26:09.

to kicks, that's when you know defences are good. So the fourth

:26:10.:26:15.

try, we have a lot to get through. The fourth, was that they really did

:26:16.:26:19.

work the numbers, Hull? This is something we spoke about earlier in

:26:20.:26:23.

the game. Can a forward dent the line, keep progressing even though

:26:24.:26:29.

it looks like he should be stopped? Josh Bowden refuses to be stopped.

:26:30.:26:33.

Gives himself more space. Get closer to the line. That first pass is

:26:34.:26:39.

crucial. The width to Kelly, cuts out three defenders. It gets Watkins

:26:40.:26:45.

interested. He is at the post and Maguire is backing away. The first

:26:46.:26:51.

pass is crucial. I go back to what JP says about the Bowden carry. The

:26:52.:27:01.

width of the pass from that play then and enables Sneyd to go at the

:27:02.:27:06.

line. He had two options. Watkins was at the first, he was too tight

:27:07.:27:10.

on that defender. As well this kind of sums up Hull's half, they've

:27:11.:27:14.

looked more dangerous when they get to the Leeds 20 than Leeds have

:27:15.:27:18.

looked in the Hull 20. Hull look like they can go down there and

:27:19.:27:24.

score, score at will almost. Hull are more structured too. They've got

:27:25.:27:31.

examples when they've run on the last play and probably should have

:27:32.:27:35.

scored off that. Watkins sort of looked at the pass and it went over

:27:36.:27:40.

the side, it was unstructured but it was a great set. Hull got that final

:27:41.:27:45.

try, again bits of brilliance but was it a forward pass in the middle?

:27:46.:27:49.

You can debate whether it's a forward pass but it's wonderful

:27:50.:27:54.

skill from Albert Kelly to pass like that. If it is forward the referee

:27:55.:27:59.

has ruled on it now, you just need to get over on it, it's borderline

:28:00.:28:04.

in my opinion. The skill from Kelly, it's a magnificent play. They're the

:28:05.:28:08.

game breakers you want. We spoke about Moon and Kelly with the skill.

:28:09.:28:12.

There it is. That's just the natural ability that comes out in Albert

:28:13.:28:16.

Kelly. He is a real competitor. It's a natural skill he has. And he is,

:28:17.:28:22.

they talk about him at Hull as the X Factor. So they should. Couple of

:28:23.:28:26.

players there, that's the difference between Hull winning or in the

:28:27.:28:30.

winning or being ahead. You have to give credit to Chris Green, as well,

:28:31.:28:34.

that was down by his boot laces, Kelly has inflicted himself twice on

:28:35.:28:38.

the game. The Sneyd kick I think took a deflection which helped it.

:28:39.:28:41.

That element of luck was there, as well. It's unbelievable, sport and

:28:42.:28:47.

it's a game of inches, sometimes it comes off well and I think it was

:28:48.:28:52.

Danny McGuire who charged at the end. Another inch is probably

:28:53.:28:57.

knocked it down and kills the play. It works out as a try. It's

:28:58.:29:01.

frustrating at times. We have had a fantastic half here and there is

:29:02.:29:07.

much more fantastic sport coming up on the BBC this weekend.

:29:08.:29:15.

There is a special programme today on BBC Two.

:29:16.:29:24.

Following that live coverage from the World Swimming Championships in

:29:25.:29:25.

Budapest. We will be back tomorrow with that

:29:26.:29:35.

second semifinal with Wigan and Salford.

:29:36.:29:39.

Also tomorrow it's five years since this.

:29:40.:30:07.

Down on the pitch, one of our heroes has been given a special

:30:08.:30:15.

presentation. Dave Parker has been with the BBC since 1965, when as a

:30:16.:30:20.

young man, he was brought in to work behind the scenes. Eventually, he

:30:21.:30:26.

moved to the commentary box, to pitch side, and he has been a great

:30:27.:30:32.

help to all of us down the years. We heard Dave talking in commentary

:30:33.:30:37.

about the wheelchair rugby league World Cup. It was an incredible

:30:38.:30:43.

final. Poor old England lost out to France in the final moments. They

:30:44.:30:48.

had a fantastic tournament, though. Well beaten by France earlier in the

:30:49.:30:52.

tournament. They did fantastically well, tea and in -- teeing us up

:30:53.:30:58.

nicely for the World Cup. England are looking forward to the World

:30:59.:31:03.

Cup, and it will be great for the sport. I think Australia will nail

:31:04.:31:07.

the best World Cup we have seen in that sport as well. What will be

:31:08.:31:11.

going on in the dressing rooms at the moment? Who will be the happier

:31:12.:31:17.

of the two? I think Hull. The finish to the first half was sensational to

:31:18.:31:22.

get those two scores. Previously, 12-6 down. Both teams will have

:31:23.:31:26.

confidence. Leeds will want to go back to the start of the game, when

:31:27.:31:31.

they moved it around, getting Sneyd, getting behind Fonua. I think they

:31:32.:31:38.

have had more ball, Leyds, which has helped. Hull are the type of team

:31:39.:31:42.

that need the ball to have the energy to play. From my own previous

:31:43.:31:53.

experience in semifinals. Off-load 's favour Leeds. Because the energy

:31:54.:32:01.

is less in defence, not many defenders will swarm around. I would

:32:02.:32:06.

like Leeds to stick to the tactics, attacking the half-backs on the 20s.

:32:07.:32:12.

Let's listen to Danny McGuire, who has been wearing the player mic in

:32:13.:32:13.

that first half. Listen, listen, we're going well

:32:14.:32:40.

here. We are in a good position. Forward, I need you here.

:32:41.:32:48.

He is going to need to have a big half, because as you guys were

:32:49.:32:54.

talking about, they haven't threatened. The off-loads is a huge

:32:55.:33:02.

strength for Leeds's game. This half, you want to start well. It is

:33:03.:33:09.

a blow, the try before half-time. You need momentum, we need

:33:10.:33:13.

play-the-balls, and we need to build pressure. We had to let you get back

:33:14.:33:18.

to the commentary box. We are keeping you fit, getting our money

:33:19.:33:21.

's worth from you. Back to the commentary team of John Kear, Brian

:33:22.:33:25.

Noble is leaving the studio, and Dave Woods.

:33:26.:33:31.

COMMENTATOR: Out they come for the second half. Two tries from Ryan

:33:32.:33:37.

Hall in the first half, putting Leeds ahead. The exemplary skills of

:33:38.:33:45.

Kelly at the heartbeat of what Hull have done. Leeds breaking a record

:33:46.:33:53.

today, a 47th Challenge Cup semifinal. It will be a short lived

:33:54.:34:00.

record, because Wigan will equal that tomorrow when they play against

:34:01.:34:05.

Salford. It will be their 47th Challenge Cup semifinal. Leeds have

:34:06.:34:15.

won 35 semis, and lost 21. By comparison, Hull's 26 Challenge Cup

:34:16.:34:16.

semifinal. Phil Bentham is all smiles.

:34:17.:34:29.

Interesting to watch Marc Sneyd's body-line good at half-time, boots

:34:30.:34:33.

off, bouncing up and down on the left foot of his. It is causing

:34:34.:34:37.

concern. He got an injury early in the first half. He did. Either a

:34:38.:34:46.

calf or ankle injury. He must stay out if Hull are to be successful,

:34:47.:34:51.

really important to the Black And Whites. These two play each other in

:34:52.:34:57.

the super eights next week, don't they? The context of that might be

:34:58.:35:04.

defined by what happens in the next 40 minutes here. It is up for grabs.

:35:05.:35:14.

Again, holding that channel there, making Albert Kelly work. But they

:35:15.:35:19.

still came up with two pieces of genius, the Hull stand off half.

:35:20.:35:24.

Talking about genius, Brian Noble has returned to the commentary box

:35:25.:35:30.

clutching a box of lime flavoured chocolate eggs. Looking after the

:35:31.:35:35.

team, boys, making sure you are well nourished. Watch out a play by Jamie

:35:36.:35:45.

Shaul, who was confident it wasn't a 40-20. He will be really happy with

:35:46.:35:56.

that end of set, Leeds. Get up to the scrum, a set restart,

:35:57.:36:00.

frontloading the energy in the early tackles, attempting to restrict Hull

:36:01.:36:08.

FC. It is important that Mahe Fonua is there as first receiver. So

:36:09.:36:13.

expect a contest. Hard work to do here to get themselves out of this

:36:14.:36:19.

end of the field, here. Leeds will want to keep them there. For as deep

:36:20.:36:23.

and as long as possible. Halton taken in hard by Watts. And

:36:24.:36:40.

again to the left-hand side. Minichiello making a half-break.

:36:41.:36:48.

Sneyd teases as if he was going to kick. The pass is picked up, turning

:36:49.:36:55.

to something magic by Kelly. The pass a way, Griffin travelling well.

:36:56.:37:02.

Over everybody's head. Shaul can't gather it in. Opportunity missed for

:37:03.:37:07.

the moment, but it is still there. Shaul joint eight something out of

:37:08.:37:11.

nothing. Looking to the left, oh! Talanoa! Fetuli Talanoa! Did he need

:37:12.:37:25.

the long pass? No. It could have been a softer pass completely! What

:37:26.:37:32.

a passage of play. Albert Kelly, missing the X factor out there. They

:37:33.:37:36.

are calling for the kick on the inside, which is exactly what

:37:37.:37:39.

happens. Shaul gets the ball, seeming to be with the ball for

:37:40.:37:44.

eternity. Going across the field, picking out the gaps. He finds a

:37:45.:37:49.

gap, and it is just the next man. Oh! I am sure that is what coach Lee

:37:50.:37:55.

Radford and his assistant are saying, pick the next man out with a

:37:56.:37:59.

simple pass. We mentioned opportunities at the start of the

:38:00.:38:04.

game. You have to take your opportunities. What a fantastic

:38:05.:38:11.

passage of play it was, other than the end. It is like this game,

:38:12.:38:16.

Brian, it has everything. Everything. Parcell dashes out.

:38:17.:38:25.

Still just the six behind, it could have been a lot, lot worse.

:38:26.:38:31.

Parcell again, going right. Singleton going only one way. One

:38:32.:38:42.

straight, as hard as you can. Chipped back towards the middle, and

:38:43.:38:45.

an easy take for Shaul. 25 out from their own line here.

:38:46.:39:03.

That is what you want your big forwards in the middle channel to be

:39:04.:39:08.

doing. That was Minichiello showing up in the middle. He is not just an

:39:09.:39:17.

edge runner. Goes right, comes left, fooling them all. Back with

:39:18.:39:21.

Minichiello in this channel again. Gathered in.

:39:22.:39:29.

Here is green. Sneyd over the top to create space for Griffin to gallop.

:39:30.:39:38.

Bringing it back again. Fonda were we gathering his feet. Gets an

:39:39.:39:43.

incredible pass away again. Watts going centrally. Flicks it back,

:39:44.:39:51.

horrific skills. Minichiello dummies, straightens up and sets

:39:52.:39:55.

this platform for Hull. Two fantastic off-loads in there. Really

:39:56.:40:01.

were. Fonua, what a great position for Hull. Final play of the set,

:40:02.:40:10.

Sneyd with the set. Talanoa goes up. Two of army to catch, claim and

:40:11.:40:16.

finish! It is the way Hull do things, kick to the big fellas, soft

:40:17.:40:23.

handed, inside, Tuimavave finishes. Hull and a bit of daylight between

:40:24.:40:26.

them and Leeds. I love the composure from Marc Sneyd. I really do. He is

:40:27.:40:33.

carrying out his coach's instructions to the absolute letter.

:40:34.:40:38.

That's where it is so important, out there. He calmly stroked the ball to

:40:39.:40:46.

sit it on Briscoe's head. Talanoa gets the jump on him, because he was

:40:47.:40:50.

the man moving, the man that can time the ball, catching the ball at

:40:51.:40:54.

arms length. Inside, and a tremendous try from Tuimavave. What

:40:55.:41:02.

a great try. Either side at half-time, policy have been

:41:03.:41:07.

sensational. Two things will become Jamie Peacock mentioned off-load at

:41:08.:41:11.

half-time, talking about Leeds. Hull have come out with four or five

:41:12.:41:18.

classy off-loads, off-loads to progress them further down the

:41:19.:41:22.

field. Sneyd comes up with the precision kick. Full credit, Hull. I

:41:23.:41:31.

don't think we are too far away from the Hull mixed choir giving us a

:41:32.:41:39.

rendition of Old Faithful. Here we go.

:41:40.:41:45.

I will tell you what, these guys aren't going to let the cup go from

:41:46.:41:52.

their grasp easily. If anyone is going to take the Challenge Cup of

:41:53.:41:55.

this team of black and white players, they have two it, they

:41:56.:42:06.

really are. -- off this team of black and white players, they have

:42:07.:42:10.

all stop a 12 point lead. 24-12 is the lead for Hull.

:42:11.:42:24.

This is a real test now for the Rhinos, isn't it. It has all been

:42:25.:42:30.

about Hull FC for the five minutes before half-time. The five minutes

:42:31.:42:34.

or so after half-time, and the Rhinos will have two come up with

:42:35.:42:39.

some big plays. They had to shift the momentum somehow in the next

:42:40.:42:43.

five minutes or so. Let's go down to the touchline. No, we're not, not

:42:44.:42:48.

just yet. I thought we were, but not yet. It is a challenge for Leeds.

:42:49.:42:55.

Not being in the Hull 20 metres for quite a period now. They will start

:42:56.:43:02.

to wane a little bit, Leeds. I am confident they have the game to get

:43:03.:43:07.

over the black and white line. They have two stop Fonua and Minichiello.

:43:08.:43:11.

Minichiello with a step. Watts, he has looked great today,

:43:12.:43:34.

Liam Watts. Danny Houghton scuttles away from would-be first-time

:43:35.:43:36.

defenders, finding field position, 30 yards out from the Leeds line.

:43:37.:43:42.

Here's Kelly. Sneyd again, putting it over the top of Ryan Hall, but

:43:43.:43:46.

Ryan Hall is in position to get there. Golding to bring it out. Ryan

:43:47.:43:51.

Hall's shoulders hit hard, 12 from their own line.

:43:52.:43:57.

We saw Lee Radford in animated conversation with his team at

:43:58.:44:00.

half-time. The message was, it is the 1% things that make the

:44:01.:44:04.

difference, cut out the errors and we will get there. They have cut out

:44:05.:44:07.

the errors and they have a foot in the final.

:44:08.:44:19.

A little over energetic, which has lost Leeds ground. No touch from a

:44:20.:44:28.

Hull player, so it is to the last tackle. McGuire's chip and chase,

:44:29.:44:33.

and he has got it. A bit of magic from the maestro, and the kick for

:44:34.:44:37.

Briscoe to chase. Briscoe is after it. Just... Out of play. That would

:44:38.:44:45.

have been a real McGuire collectors item had it ended in a try. That is

:44:46.:44:50.

the type of thing that can change momentum there. That will have given

:44:51.:44:56.

the Rhinos real hope stopped a matter of inches there from Tom

:44:57.:44:59.

Briscoe. What an absolute classic bit of play. Chip kick, seeing

:45:00.:45:08.

Briscoe, feeling he has the pace. If the kick was a yard less hard, it's

:45:09.:45:14.

a try. What a great piece of play from McGuire. That may be a momentum

:45:15.:45:18.

change, let's see. The brilliance of McGuire enforced because of the

:45:19.:45:27.

defensive situation. Found an off-load, Danny McGuire saw the

:45:28.:45:31.

opportunity, the scrambling Hull defence, but couldn't find the

:45:32.:45:34.

quality of kick to give Briscoe a chance to put the ball down. Bodin

:45:35.:45:43.

muscles his way to the 40 metre am mark. -- 40 metre Mark.

:45:44.:45:53.

Once again to Sneyd, Sneyd to Tuimavave. Not much room in which to

:45:54.:46:09.

work. Sneyd into a cul-de-sac. Still a couple of plays to go in this set.

:46:10.:46:23.

Green straightening things up. Down by Brett Ferres. Last tackle.

:46:24.:46:27.

Baptist made, inevitably, up goes the kick, inevitably. Here comes the

:46:28.:46:31.

chase, but Golding has got it in space. That is what we mean by

:46:32.:46:38.

helping him out. Ash Golding said, I am going to help you out, I am

:46:39.:46:43.

helping my team-mate. I am going to search and claim the all. The mantra

:46:44.:46:49.

should be, we need more white shirts in the frame on the defensive

:46:50.:46:53.

effort. If you do that, even if you don't clean the kick up, you need

:46:54.:46:58.

troops to clean up the spoils. Get some white jumpers in the frame,

:46:59.:47:03.

Leeds. Danny McGuire getting a bandage around the head. The scars

:47:04.:47:08.

of the semifinal. There was some contact there, this

:47:09.:47:30.

time on the defensive side. Garbutt was mindful to try to produce the

:47:31.:47:37.

off-load. Keeping the ball tight to his chest was the better option.

:47:38.:47:40.

McGuire spins it left. Keinhorst dodging and weaving. It

:47:41.:47:52.

might be another set here. No, no touch. The referee has taken advice

:47:53.:47:56.

from the touch judge. It is still the second set. The last play here

:47:57.:48:01.

for Hull. McGuire spinning it high. Jamie Shaul is underneath this.

:48:02.:48:05.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan was there as well. The referee has decided that

:48:06.:48:09.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan was impeded. He has given a penalty. I think he

:48:10.:48:16.

loses this in-flight here, coming down. You might see J JB here.

:48:17.:48:29.

Nowhere near. It is a penalty by the letter of the local Jamie

:48:30.:48:32.

Jones-Buchanan bumps into him. I would agree with him. He didn't

:48:33.:48:37.

fancy that. If I was Danny McGuire, I would think, you will get more of

:48:38.:48:39.

that. Fauna were wanted get up and carry

:48:40.:48:48.

on, the referee said he was tackled and had to get up and play-the-ball.

:48:49.:48:54.

He has done well with his passing game, off-loading well, as well as

:48:55.:48:59.

carrying the ball. Sniping forward, Sneyd dances, and

:49:00.:49:12.

Minichiello tries to create what little space he has into something

:49:13.:49:18.

bigger. Leeds defenders were there. Getting close again now. Sneyd

:49:19.:49:24.

dummies. Tumbles but gets up again. Now it's Minichiello with a step!

:49:25.:49:32.

They are on him, on him in the nick of time. Here comes the last play.

:49:33.:49:37.

Sneyd again with the kick. Up goes Talanoa. In fact, he is claiming he

:49:38.:49:43.

was impeded. The referee says, yes, you were. Penalty for Hull. You

:49:44.:49:52.

can't do that. Did I say we can't do that? We did mention that. He just

:49:53.:49:59.

takes him out, he really does. That shows they have got inside his head,

:50:00.:50:05.

Hull have really got inside Tom Briscoe's head. This is a crucial

:50:06.:50:13.

two minutes for Leeds here. The goal line is set, if indeed Hull play on,

:50:14.:50:20.

or will they go on? I felt Leeds were hanging on. Fingertips in the

:50:21.:50:25.

last set. I think they will go for the killer punch here. And the six

:50:26.:50:27.

points. Danny Houghton taking his time. No

:50:28.:50:42.

rush. Slowing things down further with a punt out of play, giving them

:50:43.:50:47.

a restart ten yards in. Laying a platform, setting a

:50:48.:51:00.

position. Out in going left. Sneyd again. Tuimavave, on a hat-trick,

:51:01.:51:07.

having scored twice already. Driven in by Liam Watts. Quite the game he

:51:08.:51:12.

is having. Green coming from deep, twisting it

:51:13.:51:25.

and keeping alive. Bowden pushing them off, handing it in. Still only

:51:26.:51:32.

five, Leeds are teetering. Back to Sneyd for the one point. Marc Sneyd

:51:33.:51:39.

puts it over. Only a tiny point, but it could be a big, big moment,

:51:40.:51:43.

because that now is a threescore leader that Hull have in the game.

:51:44.:51:48.

Smart from Sneyd. It would have been a difficult attempt at two points.

:51:49.:51:54.

Almost cracking them open. But what he did ensure is that Marc Sneyd had

:51:55.:52:02.

enough time. Truly slotting it over the edge. It is, it is a big, big

:52:03.:52:08.

point, Dave, because it is a threescore game now for the Rhinos.

:52:09.:52:15.

No relaxation allowed. The coach is demanding to consistency right to

:52:16.:52:22.

the very end. Leeds have the pedigree to fight back. Have they

:52:23.:52:31.

got the will? A spirit crusher, that one pointer, or is it a spark for

:52:32.:52:34.

Leeds to find a way back into this me final? -- this semifinal.

:52:35.:52:46.

Dominating the second half, Hull FC. It has been brilliant. Certainly

:52:47.:52:48.

has. It will be the eighth year in a row

:52:49.:53:02.

that one of these two will be in the Challenge Cup final, but it has been

:53:03.:53:05.

Leeds that has dominated in the last few years. But Hull are the coming

:53:06.:53:11.

force, aren't they. Tuimavave's kick. How good is that? Rolls it out

:53:12.:53:15.

of play. Giving Leeds the ball back again, but in a difficult is it in.

:53:16.:53:21.

They are playing very, very smart, Hull FC. They really are. The ball

:53:22.:53:27.

went wide, bringing the Leeds winger up, dabbing it over the top, rolling

:53:28.:53:32.

it out of bounds. That is a kick of set finishing ten metres away from

:53:33.:53:36.

your line, Leeds. You have got to have a heck of a job to come to the

:53:37.:53:38.

other end of the field. They are loving life in Doncaster,

:53:39.:53:49.

Hull. Don't forget the red button after we finish it.

:53:50.:53:55.

That game tomorrow, that is going to be terrific as well. Salford haven't

:53:56.:54:05.

been to Wembley since 1969. A differential penalty for Hull.

:54:06.:54:16.

The hooker trying to actually get the ball... It wouldn't have

:54:17.:54:21.

happened in your day, would it, Brian?

:54:22.:54:27.

We are laughing because the kick out of play has just hit the doctor on

:54:28.:54:34.

the back of the head. There is a gentleman, a doctor, with a red

:54:35.:54:37.

T-shirt on, the ball hit him square on the back of the head. That is a

:54:38.:54:40.

head injury assessment for him. He is OK.

:54:41.:54:48.

Danny McGuire looking to try to engineer something for Leeds here.

:54:49.:55:01.

They need something quickly to get their spirits lifted. They have lost

:55:02.:55:06.

their way to Wembley at the moment. They need to find the path back

:55:07.:55:10.

again as soon as boss of. Driven in by Cuthbertson ten metres out. -- as

:55:11.:55:14.

soon as possible. McGuire's kick. Tom Briscoe trying

:55:15.:55:23.

to get on the end of it. Kallum Watkins gets the pass back. Ward,

:55:24.:55:29.

still five. Hull's defence are determined that ball should not be

:55:30.:55:33.

allowed to keep alive. That is an example of what we are talking about

:55:34.:55:37.

at the other end of the field. Five black jumpers. They don't clean the

:55:38.:55:43.

kick up. Leeds have an opportunity, but because of the numbers, they

:55:44.:55:51.

clean the play up. The second play, a stream of Hull defenders. It has

:55:52.:55:59.

been an outstanding performance by Hull the 57 minutes, but

:56:00.:56:03.

particularly for, five minute before this half-time, absolutely

:56:04.:56:05.

outstanding. He is a big man. He is a big man.

:56:06.:56:21.

Here is another big man, Griffin. Leeds looking at the numbers on the

:56:22.:56:25.

back, wondering if it is right. Last tackle. Sneyd again looking for

:56:26.:56:49.

touch this time. He has found it. Again, putting Leeds right back on

:56:50.:56:53.

the back foot. You can have the ball, Leeds, but you have a lot of

:56:54.:56:56.

hard work to make it really hurt us, that is Hull's mantra. He is a smart

:56:57.:57:02.

fella, he really is smart. He is looking after this game. He took the

:57:03.:57:07.

one point with three schools ahead, putting it in the corner. Clever,

:57:08.:57:19.

clever play from the scrum-half. Sometimes, at the top of the show,

:57:20.:57:25.

we emphasised the importance of your kicking game. Bully at handling and

:57:26.:57:30.

running game, rugby league, it has been a masterclass today. A lot of

:57:31.:57:41.

candidates, but Marc Sneyd had the kicks, the 40-20s. Absolutely

:57:42.:57:50.

instrumental in what Hull are doing here.

:57:51.:57:56.

Leeds will not want to be counted out just yet, though. One try set

:57:57.:58:04.

them alight again. McGuire's kick. Watkins follows up, the dummy,

:58:05.:58:10.

terrific! Absolutely terrific! They are alive again! Leeds are back, and

:58:11.:58:17.

Kallum Watkins, of the back of magic from acquire, puts them back in the

:58:18.:58:25.

com petition. Take your hats off to the Leeds Rhinos. They pinned them

:58:26.:58:29.

in the corner, Hull FC. You want to score, you had to go 90 metres. All

:58:30.:58:34.

right, that's what we'll do. We'll do exactly that. Watch this for a

:58:35.:58:39.

last tackle play. Spot it, Danny McGuire. Lovely weighted kick,

:58:40.:58:44.

picked up by Kallum Watkins. He didn't break stride. A show and go

:58:45.:58:49.

on Jamie Shaul, and over he goes. All of a sudden, Brian, game on.

:58:50.:58:55.

Absolutely, game on, off the back of Danny McGuire, for me. Two sublime

:58:56.:58:59.

kicks in the last ten minutes. A chip over the top to regather.

:59:00.:59:08.

Watkins puts it over, 25-18. Getting early point in the second

:59:09.:59:22.

half, the challenge for Hull is to play the game for the next 20

:59:23.:59:28.

minutes. Marc Sneyd's drop goal looked like a

:59:29.:59:33.

luxury item when it went over, but it is turning into one of the game's

:59:34.:59:37.

necessities now, because it is still a two score lead. Look at the skill

:59:38.:59:41.

of the kick on the skill of the pick-up. Without breaking stride,

:59:42.:59:50.

Kallum Watkins is some of that. I am not sure Hull can keep playing.

:59:51.:00:04.

Don't close shop up. Mentally, they might have gone. I'm confident they

:00:05.:00:08.

wouldn't. But Leeds, they aren't going to give up. They absolutely

:00:09.:00:14.

dominated possession, Hull FC. They made hay while the sun shone. Leeds

:00:15.:00:20.

Rhinos showing character in fighting back. Picked up by Ashton Golding.

:00:21.:00:47.

It feels like a gathering storm at the moment from the Rhinos. Here is

:00:48.:00:58.

McGuire. Keinhorst has gone behind his own

:00:59.:01:09.

man and given the obstruction penalty away. Here we see... Now,

:01:10.:01:23.

Houghton gets impeded. I think it was Ellis. They've both got the same

:01:24.:01:26.

haircut! Lacking follicles. Here comes Gareth Ellis again.

:01:27.:01:49.

Ex-Leeds player, of course before his adventure in Australia.

:01:50.:01:54.

Kelly picks it up. Houghton's quick ball out of dummy

:01:55.:02:29.

half. Griffin tries to straighten it. That's the 5th. Here comes the

:02:30.:02:33.

last from Hull. Wonder what's going to happen here. It's Kelly. Now it's

:02:34.:02:42.

Sneyd. That left foot, up goes Tuimavave. Now it's Shaul. With a

:02:43.:02:47.

grubber kick. Needs sorting out. Danny McGuire does. But can't keep

:02:48.:02:53.

his feet or his balance. Concedes the drop out underneath the sticks.

:02:54.:02:59.

Well played Jamie Shaul. He picked up the pieces this time. Leeds

:03:00.:03:09.

defend the kick. Shaul finds a nice little touch off his foot. McGuire,

:03:10.:03:14.

no option but to run the ball dead. I am with you, I think there is more

:03:15.:03:19.

black shirts in the frame than white shirts. Kelly's catch and Gareth

:03:20.:03:27.

Ellis is invited to run as hard as he can at that oncoming Leeds line.

:03:28.:03:35.

A few headaches and bruised ribs. This is Taylor.

:03:36.:03:46.

Griffin coming back on the inside. But held up. I think there is still

:03:47.:03:53.

three tackles to go. Plenty of time for Hull to create something...

:03:54.:03:57.

Driven away! And scored by Liam Watts!

:03:58.:04:03.

He has deserved that for his performance today. He absolutely

:04:04.:04:12.

has. And Hull maybe do have a foot in the final.

:04:13.:04:16.

Leeds had to find a way to respond again. What a performance, what a

:04:17.:04:29.

moment for Liam Watts. Kelly is going up the line. Trying to run

:04:30.:04:36.

Kelly down, they don't nail him and Watts, I think it's McGuire, is it

:04:37.:04:40.

Parcell that jumps out of the line? It's Brett Ferres. He was not going

:04:41.:04:59.

to be stopped. As soon as he saw those hips turning that's when he

:05:00.:05:03.

released the ball. I think they realise they better get the hotel

:05:04.:05:09.

sorted out. They'll be going down by the train. He will be getting a

:05:10.:05:17.

little train driver's hat on. Fabulous run from Watts. Kelly, you

:05:18.:05:22.

have to know when to release and he tempted the line and tempted Ferres

:05:23.:05:28.

out of the Leeds defensive line and that created the opportunity.

:05:29.:05:35.

Shouting out orders. Still a big kick here for Marc Sneyd. You would

:05:36.:05:45.

put money on him to put this over. If he misses it's still only, I say

:05:46.:05:49.

only, but it's a two-score game. If he puts it over Leeds would have to

:05:50.:05:54.

find a way over the try line three times. Do you want to bet? No!

:05:55.:06:21.

31-18. Leeds have to find a way of scoring three times. They're on

:06:22.:06:33.

course for Wembley at the moment. It was a lovely pass that. My word,

:06:34.:06:38.

came on to the ball, Watts. We spoke about how he carried the ball and

:06:39.:06:45.

it's been the tough times in yardage and offloading. Offside. Picked up

:06:46.:06:59.

in front, offside. Leeds player knocked it down. That's why the

:07:00.:07:03.

penalty has been given. If you are playing against Hull, you

:07:04.:07:24.

have to aim up. Ellis. You end up defending your own half all the

:07:25.:07:31.

time. Gareth Ellis is talking about going again next year. Taylor now.

:07:32.:07:40.

Wrestled, held up, put down. Houghton. Sneyd. Watts. Flips it

:07:41.:07:50.

back. Ellis. He gets it away. Houghton. Sneyd. Tuimavave. Three

:07:51.:07:58.

defenders coming across urgently. Did well, Watkins, there, helping

:07:59.:08:02.

Danny McGuire. Sneyd again. A little side through! Oh, it's been missed!

:08:03.:08:10.

No try. Kelly touches down but the ball had gone forward. That's

:08:11.:08:19.

another example of outstanding kick. If he is going to have a problem

:08:20.:08:24.

with his left ankle, calf or whatever, my word, what would he do

:08:25.:08:31.

if he was fully fit? He has had an absolute screamer of a game.

:08:32.:08:41.

The red button forum, don't forget that.

:08:42.:08:52.

The second semifinal is tomorrow. If this has whetted your appetite for

:08:53.:09:07.

more to come, we will be on air 2pm tomorrow. 11-and-a-half minutes for.

:09:08.:09:23.

They're barely inside the Hull half. McGuire has to try something

:09:24.:09:32.

different and special. What about that pass from Cuthbert son? Watkins

:09:33.:09:37.

searching to the middle and a kick. Who is chasing? Nobody with any

:09:38.:09:46.

great gutso. He has found a bit of open space here, Jamie Shaul. It's a

:09:47.:09:52.

great game of Rugby League this. It really is. A man in the ruck there.

:09:53.:09:55.

Oh, a penalty. Feezing that Leeds defence as he

:09:56.:10:15.

advances forward with a soft shoe shuffle.

:10:16.:10:22.

Taylor. Nothing soft about his approach. Here comes Sneyd again.

:10:23.:10:28.

Left foot kicks, out it goes. Again only ten metres from their own line.

:10:29.:10:41.

This confirms the fact... I even think the referee has controlled the

:10:42.:10:45.

game and hasn't been noticed by a lot of his decisions and another

:10:46.:10:51.

fantastic kick there from Sneyd. They're clearing away the empty box

:10:52.:10:56.

of those Jaffa Cakes, did you have one, John? I had a couple you could

:10:57.:11:06.

say. I didn't have any. Needs a miracle now, something miraculous.

:11:07.:11:09.

In the last ten minutes they've to score three times. They're starting

:11:10.:11:13.

this set, look where they are. They're up against a Hull side that

:11:14.:11:17.

believes, that utterly believes. Last year was all about getting rid

:11:18.:11:22.

of the hoodoo winning at Wembley for the first time. This year it's more

:11:23.:11:25.

about growing into being a champion side who can do it year after year

:11:26.:11:34.

after year. And they certainly look set for back-to-back Wembley finals.

:11:35.:11:39.

Parcell scampers off. Even defending well now, as well.

:11:40.:11:51.

They've really grown into this semifinal, the Hull FC side. Having

:11:52.:11:55.

to run it on the six here and try something. Watkins puts the kick in.

:11:56.:12:01.

Shaul steadies himself. Straightens up, here he comes! He is on his way.

:12:02.:12:11.

Jamie Shaul, it's a beautiful try. A beautiful moment! Taking Hull back

:12:12.:12:20.

to that beautiful place, Wembley, here they come! The black and whites

:12:21.:12:25.

know their way and they're on their way back again. Book the coaches,

:12:26.:12:30.

book the trains, book the hotels. The black and whites of Hull FC are

:12:31.:12:36.

going back to Wembley. They really are. Leeds had to try something,

:12:37.:12:44.

that's what Watkins did. Just saw the gap, Jamie Shaul, as soon as he

:12:45.:12:49.

hit the fresh air you could put your glass down, you could applaud him

:12:50.:12:54.

because you knew that's the play that guarantees Hull FC at Wembley.

:12:55.:13:01.

Here it is. Leeds got to chance their arm. Trying to find a kick.

:13:02.:13:07.

Shaul flings it up. Watkins falls. He sees the space, gone, good night,

:13:08.:13:10.

see you later. Put your books down, turn the lights out. You are not

:13:11.:13:22.

going to catch him. Great finish. It's been an outstanding performance

:13:23.:13:27.

from Hull FC don't think you can bad -- find a bad player amongst them,

:13:28.:13:31.

this kid certainly contributed, Jamie Shaul with a screamer of a

:13:32.:13:37.

75-yard try there. Plonks it down in the corner. Gives the ball to the

:13:38.:13:45.

black and white army to celebrate. It's been a great, great

:13:46.:13:52.

performance. Really has. All credit to Hull FC. They are defending this

:13:53.:13:57.

trophy with aplomb. They're winning at a canter in the

:13:58.:14:23.

final reckoning. Taken the game away from Leeds in the second half.

:14:24.:14:35.

Marc Sneyd has been kick perfect so far today with ball in hand or ball

:14:36.:14:39.

off tee. And that is a pattern that is not going to be broken. Six out

:14:40.:14:48.

of six. 37 points-18, Hull FC leading. They're on their way. They

:14:49.:14:56.

really are on their way. This is the icing on the cake. Breakaway there.

:14:57.:15:03.

He finds the chink in the Leeds Rhinos kick chase and enjoys the

:15:04.:15:07.

finish. To compound that they've gone from the kick-off and Danny

:15:08.:15:11.

McGuire has been one of Leeds' best players. He has put the ball out of

:15:12.:15:21.

play. It's a penalty for Hull FC. Again it will be put into touch and

:15:22.:15:26.

they'll start another set. Connor puts it out of play, which

:15:27.:15:38.

tells you that Albert Kelly has gone off. He has gone off injured, we are

:15:39.:15:45.

told. Not sure of the nature of the injury.

:15:46.:15:49.

He has had an ankle injury in recent times, so maybe it's something to do

:15:50.:16:02.

with that. Anyway, here is Jake Connor.

:16:03.:16:05.

Ten away from that Leeds line. Hull looking to plunge the dagger in

:16:06.:16:17.

once again here. Still have a Grand Final to play for, Leeds. As do

:16:18.:16:27.

Hull. And there is Scott Taylor! One of our own is what the fans love to

:16:28.:16:35.

chant about him. Over he goes. He is in to join some of his fellow Hull

:16:36.:16:46.

faithful. Scott Taylor, scoring the try, Hull through the 40-point

:16:47.:16:54.

barrier now. What do you call them, boppers?

:16:55.:17:00.

They've had plenty today. Once again got the field position from that.

:17:01.:17:05.

One big bopper, another big bopper in Taylor, does score. Just a simple

:17:06.:17:09.

pass play from Houghton. Clever deception. They're looking as if he

:17:10.:17:15.

is going around the back of the big fella. Up it pops. Hull's very own

:17:16.:17:20.

Scott Taylor, over he goes, joyously in front of that Hull FC crowd. What

:17:21.:17:26.

a day for the black and whites, what a day for that man. He grew up on

:17:27.:17:32.

the ter races as one of them, singing Fold Faithful, cheering on

:17:33.:17:35.

Hull players. Now he is in the middle with that big number 8 on his

:17:36.:17:40.

back. Entertaining those Old Faithful. He is a good player. He is

:17:41.:17:44.

an international player. He has been big for Hull for a long time now.

:17:45.:17:48.

Along with Watts and Houghton. They're the engine room, the people

:17:49.:17:54.

that are laying the platform for this super Hull team.

:17:55.:18:05.

Lessons might have been learned, if they are, boy, watch out. It's been

:18:06.:18:17.

some second half this. They are powering their way to victory here.

:18:18.:18:26.

Sneyd puts it over. Seven goals out of seven off the tee. A dropped goal

:18:27.:18:32.

to add to that, as well. It's party time on the terraces.

:18:33.:18:47.

Yeah, a packed house. The vast majority have been - wearing the

:18:48.:18:52.

black and white of Hull FC, they'll certainly have a very enjoyable

:18:53.:19:00.

Saturday evening, I am certain. 43-18.

:19:01.:19:06.

Discussion going on between John Kear and Brian as to who should be

:19:07.:19:12.

the Man of the Match. John, any decision yet? Yes, we have. The Man

:19:13.:19:19.

of the Match, many, many candidates, obviously I think Danny McGuire has

:19:20.:19:25.

had a great game for Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC side there's been

:19:26.:19:32.

Minichiello, Houghton, Kelly. For me the man who has controlled

:19:33.:19:35.

everything, his kicking game has been superb, he has kicked all the

:19:36.:19:40.

conversion, 100%, it's got to be Marc Sneyd. He has been sensational

:19:41.:19:50.

today. I can't think there has ever been a back-to-back trophy winner

:19:51.:19:54.

but Marc Sneyd has certainly put himself in contention of doing that

:19:55.:19:57.

this year at Wembley. Certainly his side are going to be playing at

:19:58.:20:02.

Wembley. We will find out who their opponents will be tomorrow, Wigan or

:20:03.:20:06.

Salford? Still an element her for Leeds,

:20:07.:20:39.

pride to play for. They've played the part, Leeds. But the second half

:20:40.:20:44.

has truly been all Hull FC, they've been fantastic. Hurts to lose a

:20:45.:20:49.

semifinal I am sure, hurts even more when the scoreline gets to what it

:20:50.:20:53.

is at the moment. Ryan Hall is after a semifinal hat trick. He is not

:20:54.:20:57.

going to get it. : Lee got married last week. A lot of

:20:58.:21:16.

his mates on the stag-do wore t-shirts with a reference to the

:21:17.:21:20.

fact that two years ago the Hull fans were bellowing for him to be

:21:21.:21:24.

sacked week after week and then he won them a Challenge Cup final and

:21:25.:21:28.

here he is again. A Challenge Cup final at Wembley and he has taken

:21:29.:21:33.

them back straightaway. It's a credit to the owner Adam Pearson who

:21:34.:21:38.

stayed faithful with Lee, who knew what he got and felt he could

:21:39.:21:50.

deliver and he has delivered. Just kicking that out of play. Oh, it's a

:21:51.:21:56.

penalty. Yeah, I think there was a touch of obstruction there. I think

:21:57.:22:03.

it's Marc Sneyd who has just got the Man of the Match award, and in

:22:04.:22:10.

retreat, I think just tugs on Parcell's jumper. Leeds going wide

:22:11.:22:16.

looking for a consolation at the end. Golding now. Great offload.

:22:17.:22:24.

Golding will find his way to the tryline. The referee is going to the

:22:25.:22:32.

big screen. Well, he thinks a try. I would agree. Don't think this will

:22:33.:22:38.

take too many looks. Here is the video referee. OK. So, he has got

:22:39.:22:47.

hold of the ball there. He reaches out. Reaches out, that's touched the

:22:48.:22:56.

line. It's touched the line. I need to see it please on the first

:22:57.:23:01.

occasion slow, please. It ends up short but I think it comes back.

:23:02.:23:06.

Yeah. Yeah. Looks like it's touching the line there. It's touched the

:23:07.:23:13.

line on the first occasion. I am OK with that. It's a try. This is going

:23:14.:23:24.

to be Ashton Golding's first try of of the season. Given the

:23:25.:23:27.

circumstances, it's not going to be one that he will celebrate, I

:23:28.:23:35.

shouldn't think. Two points added. 43-24 is the scoreline. Pure

:23:36.:23:39.

consolation for the Rhinos, but credit to Golden Jubilee. Golding

:23:40.:23:45.

has had a decent -- but credit to them. They've been outplayed in all

:23:46.:23:54.

honesty. They really have. They've contributed Leeds, but it's been a

:23:55.:23:59.

sensational performance from Hull FC. Really has. Not a bad player

:24:00.:24:11.

amongst the 17. There's been stellar performances within there, as well.

:24:12.:24:14.

The most impressive thing, everybody knows their role and I think they've

:24:15.:24:22.

played superbly as a team, as well. They're waiting for a kick. You

:24:23.:24:27.

would have thought in the circumstances Marc Sneyd would have

:24:28.:24:30.

just put the ball down and booted it. But ever the perfectionist,

:24:31.:24:35.

there is still 36 seconds to go! He waits for the tee to kick it

:24:36.:24:37.

properly. So here we go. Last 35 seconds of

:24:38.:24:53.

the game. Hull's party's already begun. What a performance,

:24:54.:24:57.

especially in this second half. Leeds will keep it, keep it moving

:24:58.:25:03.

to the last but it's put out of play there, Ryan Hall. I think that will

:25:04.:25:07.

be the moment to wave the white flag now. The scrum has been signalled by

:25:08.:25:10.

the referee. I don't think either set of forwards is going to get

:25:11.:25:16.

together here. They'll just let the clock tick down. Last year they got

:25:17.:25:20.

that hoodoo off their backs. Now they want to make it a habit winning

:25:21.:25:27.

at Wembley. They've a great chance. They're in the final. Wigan or

:25:28.:25:32.

Salford await. Those two go together tomorrow. That should be a belter,

:25:33.:25:37.

as well. Hull aren't concerned at the moment about who their opponents

:25:38.:25:42.

are, not just yet. They'll relish this moment. They'll relish this

:25:43.:25:48.

moment of victory. The two coaches together, former teammates at

:25:49.:25:56.

Bradford back in the day. A word of congratulations. From one to the

:25:57.:26:02.

other, commiserations from one to the other. We are going to be

:26:03.:26:07.

hearing from Lee rapid Ford right now. Let's go down to the pitchside.

:26:08.:26:15.

Congratulations, what does it feel like to be going to Wembley two

:26:16.:26:20.

years running? Yeah, special. It's obviously what we spoke about all

:26:21.:26:23.

season. Making sure we defend that trophy as hard as we possibly can

:26:24.:26:28.

and we did that today. I think a special mention has to go out to the

:26:29.:26:36.

conditioning staff and physio staff, Steve Michaels would have been a

:26:37.:26:39.

rush to play but to have that at this stage of the season is a real

:26:40.:26:42.

credit to how they've gone about their business. How did you manage

:26:43.:26:45.

to turn the crew in the second half? I thought we stifled them in the

:26:46.:26:52.

field position. We really fixed that up in that second period. It was a

:26:53.:26:57.

real credit to Sneyd's kicking game and our middles defended in

:26:58.:26:59.

particular. It's been quite a week, you got married a few days ago and

:27:00.:27:03.

now you are in the Challenge Cup final. I don't know which Saturday

:27:04.:27:10.

was best, this or last, I just told the missus! Some fantastic players.

:27:11.:27:16.

Marc Sneyd, the Challenge Cup Man of the Match, congratulations, you are

:27:17.:27:19.

holding the bubbly, how did you do it today? Sheer hard work, I think.

:27:20.:27:24.

The effort from everyone were outstanding for 80 minutes and we

:27:25.:27:28.

knew we had that performance and it were good. The value of the kicking

:27:29.:27:31.

game is so important in a game that's known for running and

:27:32.:27:35.

handling. Yeah, it is. I don't think people realise how important kicking

:27:36.:27:39.

is sometimes. But in games like this especially it makes a massive

:27:40.:27:44.

difference to the performance. The winning margin in the end, it was an

:27:45.:27:50.

arm wrestle early on. We knew what we were walking into. Leeds didn't

:27:51.:27:55.

fail to test us but obviously we stood up and done what's needed to

:27:56.:27:58.

be done. We are happy with ourselves. A real taste for Wembley,

:27:59.:28:03.

you got the trophy last year and going back again. Yeah, I am over

:28:04.:28:09.

the moon to get there again, it's something else, yeah, I am really

:28:10.:28:12.

happy with that. Thank you very much. Well done. Brian McDermott,

:28:13.:28:18.

the Leeds coach, why did Hull win today? They were very good. It was a

:28:19.:28:26.

good contest in the first half but I think I heard Lee said they stifled

:28:27.:28:31.

us in the second half and their game was outstanding. Kick tries and they

:28:32.:28:36.

had a numerical advantage which is in the insurmountable, you can get

:28:37.:28:38.

that back but the amount of field position we didn't have in the

:28:39.:28:43.

second half, they were good, I thought we were OK ourselves but

:28:44.:28:45.

they were really good. Appreciate your time, thanks, Brian.

:28:46.:28:50.

Incredible scenes with the Hull fans celebrating going back to Wembley

:28:51.:29:02.

again. Hull were good today. Both coaches have said that. The back 45

:29:03.:29:06.

minutes belonged to Hull. They executed a perfect game plan. The

:29:07.:29:11.

halves were outstanding. The backs were brilliant. They deserved the

:29:12.:29:15.

win. Leeds are no mugs and they didn't play poor, it just it was

:29:16.:29:18.

Hull's game plan and intensity didn't allow Leeds to get forward.

:29:19.:29:22.

Special moments these for the players. Yeah, for sure. It's a huge

:29:23.:29:30.

moment, Wembley two years in a row. The try before half-time was a

:29:31.:29:36.

killer and there was a try reasonably quick after half-time. It

:29:37.:29:46.

was all field position really. Leeds just beaten by the better team

:29:47.:29:51.

today? Yeah, sometimes too big, too strong were Hull today and the

:29:52.:29:56.

quality was too much for Leeds. Well, Hull are off to Wembley again

:29:57.:30:00.

for the second year in a row. Who are they going to face, I do hope

:30:01.:30:08.

you can join us tomorrow, we are on air from 2pm.
