Scotland v Argentina Rugby Union

Well taken and Chan said it will be a try. It is Huw Jones under the

post. Beautiful from the Wallabies and a glorious try from Reece Hodge

and Australia strike back. And Jones is in again. A remarkable game he is

having. At the line and he has it down. The referee looking. Scotland

celebrating. Australia are a man down. He is through and the tackle

but the stretch and the try. It ends in smiles and celebrations for

Australia. What a match. Good evening. It was 15 degrees here

last week but tonight as you can see we have freezing winter re-darkness

and a spectacular light show that is taking place and a red hot chilli

Peppers on the field of play are playing to stop believing. That is

the perennial model of Scottish rugby. Last week was very

encouraging in many ways. There is real development in our side. 13

months ago in the World Cup Scotland were leading in the last few minutes

and were fortunate that they deserved to be in the lead last

week. They outscored Australia three tries to two. It looked like

Scotland had made some development but they need to win these tight

games. From an Argentinian point of view this Argentinian team has been

on a world tour basically. 15 internationals in 11 different

countries. How much energy have they got left? Those numbers sum up what

the Argentinian season has been so far. They got together is in January

then they were off to New Zealand and Australia and South Africa and

into the Rugby Championship and now on the back of a trip to Japan. It

has been a tough schedule for them. In terms of where Argentina at the

moment on that scale of development with you think they are? They are

pretty well positioned but we have that sense that if we are not 100%

we can lose against any team. On our day we can be very good but we can

struggle again. It has been an extraordinary day of international

rugby by the way. Italy beat South Africa for the first time and

Georgia but Samoa so maybe there is a bit of a changing world order and

earlier on an extraordinary match in Cardiff which Wales on with the last

kick of the game. We will reflect on that at half-time. Highland

Cathedral is played by a lone piper on the roof at Murrayfield. Scotland

have fallen short in close games are. As the Scottish team comes out

onto the field, the pre-match entertainment here it is good as

anywhere, how do Scotland get over the line? They have to keep doing

what they did last week. That close to the last week is only acceptable

rest -- if they use it as a benchmark and improve. That is what

they have to do tonight against different opposition but match that

same level of quality and intensity and the accuracy that was there and

that vibrancy they had an attack. If they match that I think they will

get the winter night. You can't underestimate what winning does the

whole confidence of the squad. This should be a good game because both

sides play fast and attacking rugby. There is so much skill behind the

scrum. Players are lining up already. I hope, armed with clubs

and a hot topic in the commentary box. .

A great sound and a wonderful crowd inside Murrayfield again, as it was

previously. Expecting the match ball from the woman who won her second

rowing gold in Rio. What a match between these two. A few changes in

the pack for Scotland. Magnus Bradbury coming in to earn his first

cap and Barkley moving to eight. Grant Gilchrist comes in. Array

start -- respite for Fraser Brown. In place of Ross Ford. The fax was

settled. Top try scorer Tommy Seymour tables take his place again

on the wing. Huw Jones, how does he follow his performance last week?

Argentina, Daniel Hourcade the coach has asked for the same 15 to recover

their performance in Cardiff. They are led by Agustin Creevy. And a

great talent at the break. The back line carries a real threat, even

without their great winker. A mixture of kicking from Juan Martin

Hernandez and Nicolas Sanchez and his 50th cap. On the bench, Ford and

Ryan Wilson. A lot of experience waiting there for Argentina.

And there is Heather Stanning, who along with Helen Glover won her

second gold in the women's pair in Rio. She goes, we are ready. Then

O'Keefe is the New Zealander referee. Telling everyone to calm

down, I decide when the match starts, says Ben. We are ready now.

Finn Russell, what a game he had against dust earlier. On a cold,

clear night at Murrayfield. Strange this evening to think of the

World Cup in Japan in three years, but this match could have a

significant bearing with the draw made in May. These sides sitting

eighth and ninth in the world rankings at the moment.

Great conditions for rugby this evening.

Advantage to Scotland. Agustin Creevy was over there and told

Argentina... You had one go. The ultimate offence and Greig Laidlaw

will have a proper go. A very tidy start by Scotland. A good start by

Scotland. Good evening. Interesting to see that the kicking game, high

balls. This was initially OK. Hands off, said the referee. That is a

kicking game. At the start of the game, the referee will put his

marker down. You need a bit of extra discipline. Great conditions for a

kicker. Greig Laidlaw is one of the most accurate in the game. The

chance to give Scotland early points.

We saw a good start from Scotland last week against Australia. A good

start is crucial. The height that one Hernandez -- Juan Martin

Hernandez can get! Jonny Gray from Oban, the first

international from that side. Some intricate manoeuvres by

Argentina, but well read. Penalty to Scotland. Round his neck

was the call and something the referees are being very tight on.

Anything above the chest will be penalised. They have to. It is

essential to the game that you make certain that their health is

paramount. It is a silly penalty to give away, Argentina under no

pressure whatsoever, forcing things a little bit and suddenly a second

penalty in the first five minutes. That was a one Martinez special, one

that cold out. The great game for Hamish Watson

against Australia last weekend. Just lost in the challenge. We've

seen Argentina try this to a three times before. The attacking players

were looking for a lazy defender in that inside channel. Already we say

two different types of defence. Scotland have put a lot of pressure

on Argentina and Argentina are allowing that, which is why Scotland

have had so much possession. An area of the game in which despite the

problems in Cardiff that Argentina would think they would have the

edge. Technique is all. Ramiro Herrera is a bearer of a man,

large of the body. Scrimmage last week about six or nine inches to

rarely put himself under huge pressure. He is powerful and can be

very powerful. Why would the referee reset that scrum? The ball hadn't

gone back, why would he reset it? The forwards, you would say give us

a break. It's only the start of the game. Great game for Zander

Fagerson. He had his problems in the scrum last week. First scrum was

fine, good space. The first scrum was fine, but was the ball not going

anywhere? As long as it is at the back, it's OK. It looked like the

ball was slow getting to the back. The ball could have been played and

we could have seen action. They are strong enough. As long as the ball

is there. Ben O'Keefe just loves scrums. Penalty to Argentina. Hard

to see what happened there, but Fagerson had trouble last week. He

went down but his leg shot back and he needs to try to get his knees

underneath his chest of it more. Penalty to Argentina after those

three scrums and Juan Martin Hernandez, big mistake from

Alemanno. That really is the cardinal sin from penalty, missing

touch. Scotland with so much ball in the

early minutes and then a spell from Zander Fagerson. Argentina's scrum.

The referee keeping everyone on their toes. The pass was a little

low, he will be frustrated. Scotland have lost possession. A really

accurate pasta Sean Maitland and Tommy Seymour was trying to outflank

the Argentinian defence. The Argentinian defence do not come

progressively at you. Long passes like that dogs terrorise them too

much. They can compete hard at the breakdown. Just look at the

territory while in possession. Scotland have had plenty of that.

If he's giving you space, go into the space, OK? Just come across so

there is gaps, OK? Let's go, last time.

Fraser Brown seemed he wanted a bit of space. Just need MySpace. Not a

chance, kid. Make it tough for him. The Argentinian captain has

experience, Agustin Creevy. Neither scrum at the moment with a

real upper hand. Sanchez is on his 50th cap, the fly

half. Argentina, a rare opportunity with the ball.

Scotland will have the scrum and for a moment it looked lively and

enterprising from Argentina, but just a mistake at the end from

Orlando. It created the opportunity. Some hard-driving runs, created the

space on the edge. Agustin Creevy is such an accomplished ball-carrier,

he did well to take that. They have been attacking close to the

breakdown because they saw Finn Russell close the defence. Once

Argentina got the space, they couldn't quite execute the past.

I've been excited by this selection. The starting Scottish 15 had the

better of the Australian team, but they were lacking the strength and

depth on the bench. Suddenly there were all these changes. He needs

depth all the time. He needs to make sure they fill in the gap when it is

needed. Three changes to this pack. Free kick to Scotland.

Barkley really was a tower of strength for Scotland last week. --

John Barclay. It was a steal from the captain,

Creevy, leading by example. In close quarters it was really accurate. We

will see the strength of Argentinian individuals. This is an excellent

example. It is not Creevy. Is that Pablo Matera? Wonderful. The

anticipation of where the ball will be and to get in and the bravery and

the passion to get that back. Explain again why this much might be

so important in that these other sites ranked, Argentina eight and

Scotland nine. If you are in the top eight, it makes things a good deal

easier for the World Cup. I know it is three years away, but the draw is

made sooner. Argentina only have one more match before the draw for the

World Cup and that is against England next week. Scotland could

regress in the Six Nations or they could go for the forward, but

Argentina's race in terms of the world rankings will be just about

done. If you get into that top eight, it can make things a whole

lot easier. Some mistakes from both sides, but

Argentina certainly with a few that have cost them. Last week, when they

went to play against Wales, there was something a little

disappointing. They have turned up today to not play like that. It

looks as if they are fatigued. They are not running, putting the right

line. That was a mix-up between two forwards. What they are doing is

correct, they are not executing with accuracy. You two have travelled a

fair bit to get to matches. Argentina, because they now all play

in Argentina, the mileage they must rack up will take its toll. I

haven't recovered from Chicago a couple of weeks ago, so these guys

have to be knackered. Argentina playing Japan in Tokyo and here they

are now. That scrum is something for

Argentina to take forward. That was brilliant. A huge amount of

pressure. What you're taught as a young kid is never ship rubbish to

the next guy. You are under that much pressure, you can't shuffle

around outside. Straight into another scrum test. Ben O'Keefe, the

referee, the New Zealander, trying to make his instructions clear.

Zander Fagerson needs his legs back. Pivoting on his hips and down to the

ground. He needs to get his right knee up underneath him a bit more to

keep that pressure. There's an awful lot of weight coming through,

Argentinian beef, I suppose. Zander Fagerson has been touted for a long

time. He is still 20. He learns so much in the first 20 minutes of this

game. Down it goes again and the referee

says, use it under which they do eventually.

A lot of play happening in the Argentinian half now.

Nothing in that, said the referee. Complaints from the Argentinian is

about possible obstruction. Martin Landajo was saying exactly that, but

it will be a Scotland 22. He felt Hamish Watson slid too quickly.

Tommy Seymour covered well. A busy game so far. Argentina are

beginning to find a little more territorial and possession.

A wasted opportunity for the home side. Back they come, scuffles

breaking out. Magnus Bradbury enjoying

international rugby. He won't take a backward step. He is physical,

beyond his years, Magnus Bradbury. I remember trying to rustle up Phil

Kearns in my first test just to let him know I was there and I came out

second best! Argentina have the penalty and it

was quickly taken. That was dangerous for Scotland.

Argentina just beginning to look dangerous, with Martin Landajo at

the centre of things. The game has come alive.

Scotland get the penalty will stop we had plenty of cries of holding.

They were heard by the referee. For kids watching, look at number seven,

Hamish Watson, straight down on the ball, not resting on his elbows, no

option for the referee. He is good at that, Hamish Watson. Slightly

before that, a pool position from Desio. Scotland's workrate was far

better. Ross Ford is getting ready because

Fraser Brown is off. It is a blood replacement, but it is cap 101. Ross

Ford on very early for this attacking line-out, Fraser Brown

will return once he has been patched up. An opportunity here for

Scotland. Juan Martin Hernandez loves a low

scudding kick controlled deftly. should be a good game because both

sides play fast and attacking rugby. Spilled blood gathered well. So

Argentina's scrum. It is an even contest. A few mistakes from either

side but not much caught the given. A lot of pressure at the breakdown

coming through. Matias Moroni getting right onto Greg Laidlaw. I

think he needs to get that away quicker. It may have been pulled out

of his hand but he was offside in the first place. He needed to make

certain the gap was there. That puts players under pressure and players

get very frustrated when that happens. The two packs are roughing

each other up a little bit. The Lu said his down injured Ramiro

Herrera. -- Ramiro Herrera. A bit of the action. Martin Landajo has been

the real danger for Argentina so far. He knows that Santiago Cordero

is on his shoulder. You need your team to react when you take a quick

tap. Argentina moving the ball to the outside channels and trying to

pick it along the ground but Matias Moroni was dragged into touch.

Argentina have changed the game over the last few years as they went into

the Rugby Championship. They knew they had to play a more expansive

game to compete on a more regular basis with the other southern

hemisphere sides. And even contest at the scrum. Martin Landajo

rosettes to Nicolas Sanchez. It went backwards. It still went backwards.

Eventually there was a knock-on by Argentina. Mistakes from them but

good pressure from the Scottish defence. When a mistake is made to

shovel it onto somebody else. That could have easily ended up with a

try underneath the posts. Huw Jones putting the pressure on. He can be

wider and look and see and he makes the crucial decision whether to go

hard or set of. He had a great game last week. The feedback from the

players is that he is so powerful and quick. He defended well and

attacked well and scored two tries. Scotland are looking for strength in

depth and they have that in the centre. Meanwhile the scrum goes

down. I love the scrum. But this messing

around is frustrating for viewers and players. Let's see if we can

have a clean one. Argentina drove through Scotland once but apart from

that it's been very even. 26 minutes gone. A different game to that game

last week here. Down on this side again and this time the decision is

a penalty to Scotland. I think sometimes it's the luck of the draw.

That was not even in the right position. He has penalised Lucas

Noguera. A very good Argentinian coach. Every player is born and

raised in Argentina. They were the only side in the World Cup to have

all 35 players born in the country. Greg Laidlaw gets the hash of

Murrayfield. Scotland are taking their chances

through the trusted root of Greg Laidlaw and they lead by six points.

It is a tense match at the moment. It doesn't have the feeling of a

free-flowing friendly. It's as if both sides know there is something

at stake. Not much between the teams and it's important to Scotland to

get back into Argentinian territory. Last week Wales could not shake off

the Argentinians and they were always in the game. Jones takes it.

It went backwards says the referee but then there was a little tap

forward. I don't think Grant Gilchrist was expecting that. One of

the elements is the score is over when you've got kick off and gone

back into the opposite -- opposition's half. Those mistakes

are frustrating for players but the coach goes ballistic. Given he was

holding out his hands saying give me the ball. Both teams guilty of

handling errors in the first half and hour. Cannot get any flow into

the game at all of the moment. Look at the attacking position now for

Argentina. A solid scrum. Matias Orlando braking and there is a real

chance for Argentina. Up to within metres of the line. The forwards

pouring into secure it. Argentina battering away at the Scottish

defence. Facundo Isa is there again. The Lu said Lucas Noguera is in.

Agustin Creevy the captain just held short. Martin Landajo can't quite

get there. Scotland's defence right on the line. Meeting every assault

from Argentina at the moment. Argentina burrowing their way in.

Trying to get the ball down. The referee will say held up so the

danger is averted for a moment but it will be a five metre scrum to

Argentina. The game has scandalised. A solid scrum. Look at that line by

Matias Orlando, straight through Finn Russell. A really good attack

by Argentina. He knew his centre partner was there. Argentina have an

average of 16 off-loads the game. My favourite aspect of watching

Argentina play is that somebody always runs a positive line. They

expect there to be an off-load. It makes it beautiful to watch. This is

an Argentinian forward you would be licking your lips. Five metres out.

Options either side for the backs as well. Martin Landajo peers across at

options behind the scrum. Will the forwards take it on themselves?

Scotland not yielding at the moment. Just a bit of movement. Down it

goes. Referee says advantage to Argentina. A free attack for them.

They will come back for that penalty. It might be a scrum again.

Overextending and it causes the collapse. All the pressure is there.

You are trying to hold your position and you want your feet behind you if

you are in a low one of position but if you are too far back anyway that

goes on you don't have the centre of gravity to be able to hold that

position. There is not much in that. Scotland were fairly strong. He just

eventually went down. Just a little bit of extra body position and it

goes against you. Shake of the head from Zander Ferguson. Murrayfield

calls for some desperate defence. Argentina trying to get the shelf

and it is moving forward. The referee tells him to use it. Nicolas

Sanchez can't quite get to the line. Argentina. It is hacked on by Greg

Laidlaw. Santiago Cordero gets back for Argentina. The referee says it

went forward. The celebrations from Scotland and an opportunity missed

by Argentina. It was a more dominant scrum by Argentina. Fraser Brown is

rejoining us after his blood injury. There was a wonderful try saving

tackle. Here it is. Hamish Watson and Finn Russell. Hamish Watson gets

underneath Nicolas Sanchez. And there was the competition at the

breakdown. That could be a big influence on the match. There is

Hamish Watson and a scrum to Scotland on the Tenby Dylan. Ross

Ford is fun Fraser Brown having been stitched up is back into the front

row. I don't know what the referee is looking for now because there is

an element of psychology. Agustin Creevy pleading with the referee.

Sander Ferguson down. James Robinson in attendance. The dark that's

happened on that front row and if a player is collapsing you tend to put

pressure down. It's very hard for the referee to see that but you know

you're doing it yourself in the scrum. It's difficult for us

watching to appreciate how brutal life is in the front row. Everything

in their is taking such a toll on the body. A couple of tonnes of

pressure across those shoulders and they have to try and deal with at

all the time. Fraser Brown in the heart of the Scottish front row.

Scotland have been experiencing a good deal of pressure for the last

few minutes. The initial pressure was all on Scotland. It felt as if

it was going forward Scotland's way. Penalty to Scotland. Martin Landajo

is penalised for being offside. It looked as if the ball squirted out

of the scrum. A better second phase by Scotland. The ball is not out of

the scrum. Finn Russell kicks the touch. The referee having a word

with Martin Landajo. It has gone a bit quiet in Murrayfield. Five

minutes to go in the first half. Just those two penalties by Greg

Laidlaw and Scotland back into the Argentinian half. Safely taken by

John Barclay. Sean Maitland culling off the wing. A slip either winger.

Argentina think they might have it and they do get the scrum. Greg

Laidlaw is been used. Very hard to get any momentum in a game when

everything is stop start. We're not seeing a huge amount of multiphase

plague. You get a bit cranky and you are waiting for the next chance to

do something with the ball and you force things a bit too much. Agustin

Creevy is the perfect shape for that jackal position but they do it in

numbers. They were putting pressure on the ball carrier. The final few

minutes of the first half. Two sides that can be so entertaining and they

were signs of life earlier in the match but it's become a more cagey

affair and a lot of scrums. The referee says use it so away we go.

Nicolas Sanchez finding touch. Stuart Hogg with no thoughts of

taking a quick one. Good game management by Juan Martin Hernandez.

He knew exactly what he was doing. The Argentinians getting some

territory. The forwards love it when they lift their heads up from the

scrum and see the ball ahead of them. Fraser Brown looking to hit is

Mark again. It is Scotland's all. Greg Laidlaw with the box-kick.

Forward comes the winger Matias Moroni and he dated well. Argentina

with another chance to attack. Argentina do have a penalty. Not

releasing the man. An interesting decision by Argentina but it's the

right decision to go for goal. They have had a lot of pressure since

Scotland's second penalty when Scotland failed to take Catt care of

the restart. Hamish Watson was in. It's whether the tackle was

complete. Yes, a good call by the referee. The tackle is completed.

Hamish Watson must give clear release. A good call by the referee.

It will be Nicolas Sanchez with the penalty attempt. An opportunity to

get points on the board for Argentina. It's a good kick.

Argentina get something for all their efforts. I don't think many of

us have predicted 6-3 at this stage of the match because both sides have

shown how good they can be an attack but it has settled into a cagey

much. There have been a lot of mistakes. They have been knock-on

Zander unforced errors. Scotland with the hanging restart. Taken well

by Pablo Matera. Argentina come forward through Juan Martin

Hernandez. He is 34 now. Joaquin Tuculet takes a bit of time and

finds touch. We will have time for one final passage of play. All the

noise around Murrayfield last week has been replaced by something a bit

quieter this week. This is where Scotland have to make an effort to

try and double their efforts to get a big psychological effect if you

can score points close to half time. It's a good attacking line-out. They

should be trying to score points before going into the changing

rooms. Over the top and Argentina have the final attack. Ramiro

Herrera. Full. Sean Maitland takes it well over his head and calls the

mark. They might head for the sheds. Sean Maitland picks it up. An

interesting half. No tries and three penalties. Fearne Cotton goes in to

give his jab and what will he be saying? He will be looking for more

accuracy in the second half. At half-time it is Scotland six,

Argentina three. If last Saturday it was Argentina

against Wales and it was 6-3 then. Very few try scoring opportunities

and no tries over. One thing you can always rely on is Greg Laidlaw's but

and he kicked two penalties to give Scotland a 6-point lead. Then

Nicolas Sanchez with that penalty right at the end. It is a bit after

the Lord Mayor 's show because last week at Murrayfield we had the most

fantastic free-flowing entertaining match and Andy this is not it. No

but rugby can be very different. Scotland have tried to play like

last week but the circumstances are not allowing that. They are slightly

off. The accuracy and intensity is not there. But what you have to do

is find a way to try and get your impact and get your game on and

there has been summary mistakes no momentum. I disappointed by the

Pumas? Yes. I expected but we better. One of the things I heard

after the Welsh game is they wanted to impose their attacking style and

it has not happened. A few individual attempts by Martin

Landajo but we have not seen much flow the attacking game. Martin

Landajo has been the beacon on either side and as a scrum half you

must be enjoying him. He has had a few moments in the game. Argentina

take this into the middle. Hamish Watson is the defender Andy puts is

high -- and up. He cannot leave that area. His eyes look up to is left

and Martin Landajo senses it and goes through. Hamish Watson had to

stay there and stop that. They did this a few times. The chip through

and it comes to nothing. It is a show and go and he is a very busy

player. He is very quick and he likes to have go the fringes.

Similar to last week when they scored that tried the reactions were

not quite as good. This is what he did so well last week, he brought

the pace and tempo into it and that is what the first have needed. Yet

again it goes wide and they go for the grubber kick through. They get

the ricochet and get tackled a detached. He has had the two moments

of inspiration in the game where he has brought some pace and intensity.

They have been very few line breaks in the game. There was an

Argentinian one for a five-minute before half-time. Yes. Argentina

were thinking that Scotland would be worrying about them coming around

and they had a hardline and put Matias Orlando in a one-on-one

against the ten. He picks on Finn Russell. He goes straight at him and

does that off-load which is exactly what you want to get right in behind

the Scottish defence. The scramble defence was very effective. Matias

Orlando and straight at him. They have identified Finn Russell's

defence. Sometimes in that area get the players scanning what is

happening. Obviously Matias Orlando on that one-on-one. If you are the

defender Andy got somebody who is 1617 stone running at you, what you

do? You have to go low. Matias Orlando is not as big as Jamie

Roberts but he can carry the ball. You talk about collisions and it is

by winning the collisions and most of that is on the forward play.

Matias Orlando on that collision. Finn Russell won't win many battles

because he's not that big. Normally he would go low. We had a succession

of evidence to Scotland and another one today. What do you make of him?

He looks comfortable and that is what you are looking for. It is a

big step. It has not been the hardest game by him. The kick off

the streets doing and first touch, he did well. This has what he's done

all season for Edinburgh. He's got real power and pace. Here he is

under pressure but he takes the line at and he sets it up. He has done

nothing spectacular but he can cope with the pace of international

rugby. It has been physical but he looks to the Manor born at the

moment. We rushed on a because Andy Murray was playing tennis and he has

just one and he will play in the final tomorrow. We had all set up

before the programme this huge feature about what a brilliant

figure from hand Juan Martin Hernandez is an today he has been

awful. He can release pressure from the fly-half but this time he missed

touch and as you can see now again he puts a good 50 metre kick in that

he fails to find touch. Once again the years. Not getting the best

impact on the ball. That is not his style. He is still an amazing

player. Fantastic but it sums up a lot of those kicks, the contact

wasn't good. We have seen passes, Greg Laidlaw has put out a few

sloppy passes. Last week they were really on the money. Everyone seems

to be 10% down today computer last week. What have you made of the

scrums? It has been a tough week for the two debit and from last week to

really in their international career. Allan Dell and Zander

Fagerson did well last week but they are under pressure today. It has not

impacted so far on the game in terms of penalties but the ball sits there

are so long and nobody wants to win it. I think with the scrum get the

ball in and get it out. If you are Argentina and you know you have an

advantage can understand why they are trying to get penalties. Keith

Wood, tell us is what is happening. I love scrummaging but the problem

for Zander Fagerson in particular, he is a big man and his young man

and his legs are a long way back to when pressure is put down on him he

is not able to sustain it. In this instance he got a bit too high so we

need is to bring his right leg underneath his chest a bit to get

his centre of gravity and a strong position. He will learn. I thought

the referee blew too early on that one. Argentina are putting a lot of

weight on here in a huge mud of pressure. The pressure comes in and

he goes down. If Zander Fagerson's right leg is up further he could

sustain some of that pressure. I thought they were very lucky because

I thought the same thing happened here. He just needs to get his scrum

coach to talk to him beforehand to make certain he does that and take

some of the pressure off. It's the only thing that keeping Argentina in

USA. New Zealand have scored a few early tries against Ireland. The one

in the middle, Wales against Japan. What a game. Here are some of the

moments. There is a real urgency to Japan.

Here we go. Try. Wales try and shut down possession. They have succeeded

in that. Was that out of play? No. Lay on and it's going to be tried

for the replacement. Taken wide away from the perfect tropical position.

He is in the pocket. This is a chance. That should be a penalty.

Nailed it. He likes it. The drop goal is good and there are seconds

remaining but that should And it did and Sam Davies writes

himself a footnote in Welsh rugby history. England playing Fiji today

and highlights follow this game. Australia play New Zealand tomorrow.

Match of the day to night. The tennis final tomorrow. Andy Murray

is in it. Where do we start? Scotland play Georgia next week. The

won South Africa are in a world of problems at the moment. There is a

new order in world rugby. That is great for the game. It has been too

narrow for so along. Georgia are coming up. That 80 minutes in

Kilmarnock next Saturday could be very difficult. It could be an

interesting game. What is your take on Italy beating South Africa for

the first? Surprised. We know that South Africa aren't playing their

best at the minute, but you would expect to win comfortably against

Italy. It didn't happen. More than one person has been caught by

surprise. It makes it interesting in terms of that whole great debate

about should the Six Nations be a closed shop or should Georgia be in

it? Who goes out of it if they are? To be continued. Scotland and

Georgia next week will be an interesting game. That is on the

BBC. Let's speak to Chris Paterson. Last week, we spoke about free

blowing quick thinking Scotland. It is a different site tonight. I said

towards the end of the first half, it is probably down to mistakes more

than anything else. Neither team have been able to get momentum into

the game by retaining possession for long enough. There have been good

tackles, good competition in the breakdown, but a lot of knock-on is,

it has disrupted the flow. Scotland come alive when they can get that

quick ball play and there were only two or three opportunities from

Argentina. A lovely off-loaded and one or two nice pieces of play. Vern

Cotter will be looking for his Scottish guys to do better. Is there

one specific area Scotland need to improve to be able to improve Ali

increase the pace of the game? Ball retention. The Argentinians are not

putting a great deal of pressure on the defence, they are allowing

Scotland to play. If they can keep the ball in and around the

breakdown, it should allow them to be more effective. We can see the

Argentinians coming back for the second half. It's not making an

excuse, but we mentioned at the start of the match, how tired I

these guys? They have been almost like a Bruce Springsteen world tour,

one continent to another, endlessly playing rugby. This is towards the

end of that journey, one more match next week against England at

Twickenham. Do they look like a team that are running out of petrol? To

be honest, they are good enough to be much better than what we have

seen so far from them. They may be tired, but they were targeting three

wins. They lost against Wales, so today can be a very important game

for Argentina in these internationals. It is a huge 40

minutes for them and for Scotland, going back to the world rankings.

Last week's defeat was only, you accept if they push on and get a

win. The performance hasn't been there. If they increase their

accuracy, stop mistakes, this is an important 40 minutes and I think

they can do that. We are looking for a try from either side.

COMMENTATOR: Looking around the pitch, can't see any changes from

either side. As we were and Juan Martin Hernandez gets the second

half under way. Just one penalty, the difference between the sides.

Scotland have to work hard on those restarts because an immediate

opportunity for Argentina. Scotland are immediately on the back

foot and an advantage to Argentina. From Scottish terms, it was Stuart

Hogg with a high tackle. That is what we are talking about. That is

now a high tackle whereby it wouldn't have been perhaps in recent

seasons. Know, and it is a bit of manoeuvring from world rugby to get

the tackle lower for safety reasons. We would say that that is fine for

the most part, but it is this ongoing push to bring it lower, to

chest height if at all possible. For the safety of the game, even though

it is frustrating for the old fogeys like us, it is something that is

needed. An interesting decision there, Hernandez opting for the

corner just inside the 22. Penalty advantage to Argentina,

offside Allan Dell. Messy start by Scotland.

Greig Laidlaw and Orlando... Some unnecessary -ness, if that is a

word. Allan nobody wants to back down first.

The frustrating thing from the Scotland point of view is two

penalties. There is not a lot in that, Greig should just walk away.

He leaves Scotland so, so well on and off the field. A great

goalkicker. He controls the referee he controls the game well. He's

looking to set that example to take on these Argentinians. The next

opportunity will go to Nicolas Sanchez.

Argentina again with all the play, three points. All square at

Murrayfield. Vern Cotter will be disappointed with that. Scotland

conceded a penalty and then a second. Quite frustrating. Watch the

restart here from Finn Russell. He drops it on a sixpence as Juan

Martin Hernandez does. Marcus Bradbury, a powerful

youngster. Lost! Lost, says the referee. The

ball is there, says Greig Laidlaw. A penalty to Scotland eventually from

the referee, Ben O'Keeffe. We were smiling appear. He wasn't in the way

at all, you couldn't move, there was nothing that could happen. The

referee said the ball was there. I love a bit of confusion. The ball

was in play but harmless for Greig Laidlaw. And Laidlaw almost has his

arm around the referee. You and me, we are on the same side. You do have

to make an effort. He is not interfering with the ball, but you

do have to make an effort. He is very tired.

A penalty to Argentina. And the crowd falls silent. Such a pity. I'm

just watching Magnus Bradbury. Two parts of that play, he was stuck in

far beyond his years, doing the right thing. He has already grown

into international rugby. Just a little bit too wide. There is a gap

there, sometimes you can see the edge. I think he's been outstanding.

Scored four tries. We'll impressive start.

Landajo's turn to complain and he gets the penalty.

A try for Matias Orlando. First try of the game goes to Argentina. They

had the advantage and made it. Beautifully kicked by Juan Martin

Hernandez and Matias Orlando was in the right place at the right time.

Excellent score by the outside centre. Good relationship between

him and his centre. Look at the accuracy, the communication. There

is Hernandez taking all the time in the world. He was fortunate with the

bounce, but the reaction to the vowels and the power through the

tackle. Orlando has been impressive through this game. Hernandez can

kick any kick. That was beautifully stroked. Bounced up perfectly and a

big bash over the line. Not a lot of space, but Hernandez found it and

look at the passion there from the head coach. His fourth try for

Argentina and his first in this game has stunned Murrayfield, but

Argentina have been the livelier side in this second half. Argentina

converted try clear. The Pumas fans waving the flag. Being so wide

allows you to come in with the ball. You are not chasing it, you can

accelerate it if the is there. That pinpoint accurate kick from

Hernandez allows Orlando to finish. A couple of changes for Scotland.

Zander Fagerson is off. Ryan Wilson is on. Changes in the front row and

the back row for Scotland. Scotland are up against it at the

moment. Hernandez is full of life at the

moment. Perhaps is the best thing to thing

to happen to this game, carried in by Ryan Wilson, the replacement back

row player. A penalty, because it came out this

side. Badly needed that try. It is not great from a Scottish

perspective, but they have to react now. How they get into this game

over the next five or six minutes. There have been changes made, will

the bench put in the energy that it didn't put in last weekend? This is

the penalty. Before that was a wonderful break

from Hernandez. Scotland managed to get back and win a penalty. How do

Scotland respond? Fraser Brown complains about the line-out.

and this game has sprung to life. What a comeback by Scotland in the

last five minutes. Huw Jones again. Two tries last week Andy has

continued this week. He has a limp, but his feet are on fire. The power

and panache to give it to Sean Maitland for the try in the

right-hand corner. Every single part of that was perfect. All the way to

the end. Great small, great attack. The ball is moved very quickly here.

Strength, ability and poise, and knowing where his man is and making

sure the ball gets into his hand. Great score in the making. Still

hobbling a little bit. James Robinson is watching from afar, but

is an opportunity for Scotland to draw level. Difficult conversion for

a right footer. Bringing it around so well, what a

kick from Greig Laidlaw! A superb kick and Scotland are level again. A

very different game now. A fantastic conversion from on the right edge.

It is much harder to defend a drive. Three defenders. All that pressure,

getting the flowed away to Sean Maitland, that quality finisher.

Argentina making a change. Leonardo Senatore is coming on for Facundo

Isa. An opportunity once again for

Argentina. A little knock-on says the referee

and regulate low getting involved again and income like your friends.

-- in, larger friends. Greig Greig. Listen, listen. Guys,

from both teams. Any little taps on the face, they might find themselves

in the bin, OK? Let's do it. That seems clear enough.

A couple of replacements made as we watched those replays. That is

quality scrum-half on scrum-half action. A little slap on the back of

the heifer Laidlaw. Huw Jones is off. He has not had the dynamic

input of last week's match but a telling contribution in the last few

minutes. Limping off now. Born in Edinburgh, schooled in England and

played in South Africa. Had a huge impact in his opening three tests

for Scotland. Greig Laidlaw is trying to drive his

team forward. An emotional guy. Argentina have the advantage,

penalty surely coming for them here. There it is. It is not just the

penalty. The immediate reward. It is the knowledge that you have the

edge. All that work they did in the first half is making sure that every

scum and macro scrum tells. Scotland were just too high, you can

see it in the replay. Too high for the contact. Possession in the

second half, very different. That is the first quarter of the match.

Argentina growing a little bit in confidence. You need to control your

team, keep them down. OK? Just like a choke tackle. Jonny Gray

did well to get in there. He has all the rights in the world to be there.

The Argentinian pack ran back to get into position, you need to give the

ball first and foremost. Into the final quarter and 13 points apiece.

In terms of world rankings, Scotland are looking to move above Argentina

into the top eight with a victory here. Jonny Gray is such an

impressive player, he does everything so well. Big

interventions in games. A wonderful talent. He is a nuisance, as well!

Against other forwards coming annoying.

24 tackles from 24 last week, it Jonny Gray. Stephen Moore was the

same but he is almost always the top tackler. He is the top of all stats.

He had something like 70 or 80 passes. He is on an incredible three

figure run of consecutive tackles for his home club in Glasgow. He

sets examples, leads by example is and is a wonderful tolerance, a

wonderful player. The pressure on the Scotland scrum here.

Scotland in all sorts of trouble, penalty to Argentina. That was a

demolition job. Personnel have changed and you can see it is a far

more uneven contest. As much as we're criticising, you have to have

your body height right. If you're not in the right position, you get

pushed back at all, the way Argentina scrum is the second they

sniff a tiny bit of weakness, they chase every single bit of it. Look

at the whoosh again at the pressure. It is high and then bang, in you go.

That is why Scotland mates. Zander Fagerson was the back-up to WB maul,

struggling with an injury and not too far on coming back. It makes a

huge difference to the scrum and you need the depth and Argentina have

decided to go for the posts. Are rather easy swipe their

beautifully struck by Sanchez. Argentina in front. I think Scotland

almost would accept the three points there because they were Buckling so

badly at scrum time. That sounds strange, but they can come back to

halfway and tried to reset and go again. Another five minutes of

scrum, they could have taken a lot out of them. Maybe that wasn't the

best decision from Argentina. Argentina were celebrating that

restart and -- three points and didn't know what was happening. It

could be down to substitutions, Leonardo Senatore has gone. He is

used to playing in the back row or second row. Somebody has not

fulfilled their duties and picked up the position. Scotland have to try

to avoid scrums and use the other set pieces well.

A mistake by Scotland reprieves Argentina.

Russell has been well watched by the Argentinian defence. Sanchez told he

can't get in there because he is down on one knee. Two or three

bodies quickly on Jonny Gray. tennis final tomorrow. Andy Murray

is in it. Where do we start? Carried on by Jonny Gray. Still

therefore Scotland but Moray Low feeling the hit and Argentina

punching Scotland back. Carried in by Hamish Watson. Nothing much doing

an attack for Scotland here. Barkley carries it in. Fraser Brown. The

Arjun -- and the Argentinian defences up quickly. Scotland

looking for something to happen. Moray Low shoves it out wide.

Advantage to Scotland. The penalty is there for them. Stuart Hogg with

a little step. He is through himself. Peter Horne up to within

seven metres of the line. Scotland still with the advantage. The lock

forward flies in. Out it comes to Stuart Hogg who tries to skip his

way through a forest of defenders. Greg Laidlaw. He is thrown back.

Scotland still with the advantage. Laid and Watson is there. Watson

stays on his feet. Up to within five metres. Still advantage and a

penalty to Scotland. They were bearing down on the line. You can

see Agustin Creevy on the wrong side. Not much in this game. A good

attack by Scotland. They could have moved the ball a bit quicker couple

of times. They have won the penalty. Stuart Hogg had a crack on the short

side. Hamish Watson driving forward and Agustin Creevy is in there

again. I love the intensity from Scotland. They have totally changed

in the last five minutes and they need to play at that pace. They had

a penalty advantage and Argentina scored from the penalty advantage.

That is a queue for teams to come alive in attack. It is a freebie and

they have to go for it. A shot at goal for Greg Laidlaw. Fraser Brown

is going to come of after this kick and Ross Ford will come on at hooker

for Scotland. Not the prettiest kick but through

it goes. 16 points apiece. We thought it would be close and so it

is proving. What have we said about the restarts. You can trace those

three points back to source and nobody took the restart. Nobody

takes it for Scotland. It is claimed eventually. Vern Cotton furiously

taking notes. Given onto Hamish Watson. He is a hard man to stop. He

is very square. A bit goes from Greg Laidlaw. Greg Laidlaw over the head

of the winner and well-placed. Juan Martin Hernandez buys himself some

time. Tommy Seymour takes it. Into Stuart Hogg. A familiar step from

Stuart Hogg. He gives it to Sean Maitland who is thrown to the

ground. Back it comes to Scotland. Wilson two Greg Laidlaw. The referee

says it's fine. He did on jinks into a challenge. Carried in by Moray

Low. Still therefore Scotland. Greg Laidlaw gets things going again. A

little pause for Scotland. Gilchrist drives on, the lock forward. John

Barclay. Jonny Gray. But the greatest pass but he took it well.

The drive on once more. Wilson is there. Greg Laidlaw feeds Jonny Gray

he gives it to his second row partner Gilchrist. Scotland moving

the phases again. The switch from Greg Laidlaw. Finn Russell gives it

to Watson. Argentina counterattack. Joaquin Tuculet sends it long.

Stuart Hogg does well but Santiago Cordero is quickly on the fullback.

Stuart Hogg gets the penalty. That is absolutely brilliant by Stuart

Hogg and stupid by the Argentinian player. Stuart Hogg stayed down

deliberately to milk that penalty knowing he has to be allowed to get

back up. With all the momentum going across -- against Scotland. It must

be so frustrating as an Argentinian to see that. You want to be opposing

and win the ball but Stuart Hogg knew exactly what he was doing. He

had a glance. He bought himself half a second and Santiago Cordero gave

away the penalty. A lot of changes coming on. Argentina making a couple

of changes in the pack. Santiago Garcia Botta is on. Julian Montoya

is on at hooker. They have changed their entire front row. Enrique

Pieretto is on at tight head as well. The front row got a full 70

minutes. How will that affect things in the scrum? Gilchrist is on to

Scotland in the second row and Tim Swinson is on in place of him. This

is where squad depth tells. Nine minutes to go, 16-16. Who has the

better reserves? A good drive by Scotland. Wilson has been impressive

since he's been on. Greg Laidlaw goes in to add a few kilos. Now

gives it to Finn Russell. A huge pasta Stuart Hogg. Stuart Hogg tries

to handoff the Argentinian player. Finn Russell again and Scotland

moving well through Ross Ford. Still therefore Scotland. Greg Laidlaw

making sure the referee knows that the bodies out there. Scotland

looking for what they hope will be a killer try. A good tackle coming in

on Ryan Wilson. Much more of a buzz around Murrayfield now. Scotland

going through the phases. Hamish Watson again. He makes such ground.

Driving his way past Matias Alemanno. Greg Laidlaw did well to

scoop that up. Argentina set their defence again. Seven minutes

remaining. Back it go. Drop goal attempt by Finn Russell but it's

wide. Finn Russell will be frustrated. They worked the position

well. He could have given himself more time. Maybe they went for the

drop goal to soon. It was just outside the right-hand post. Under a

little bit of pressure. A good attack by Scotland and good

continuity. Maybe vision at that more patients. It seemed to be a bit

too early. It's just gives Argentina a chance to take stock because all

the momentum is with Scotland. Carried in by Ryan Wilson. Came off

early against Australia last week with an injury. Ross Ford carrying

three or four men with him. Argentina trying to hold up. They

might have held up. The decision is scrum to Argentina. Ramiro Herrera

there. That is the classic joke tackle. Holding the man up. A great

carried by Ross Ford. It is all about when the

referee calls more. To be able to hold up, it was Ish Sodhi. Jeronimo

De la Fuente comes on in the backline. He can play a few

positions but he is replacing the winger Matias Moroni. That has to be

one of the best names in international rugby, Jeronimo De la

Fuente. It's exotic and dynamic. So many changes. The benches have been

emptied. Ali Price is the one replacement who you suspect won't be

used because Greg Laidlaw will stay until the bitter end. Ali Price the

young scrum half waiting for his debut. How will the scrum there with

all the changes? Pretty solid for the moment from Scotland. Argentina

did have the upper hand but things have changed a bit. At the goes to

Juan Martin Hernandez who has looked lively in the second half. The

Turner Rover is good says the referee. Scotland with another

chance to attack. Ryan Wilson please scrum half. Gives it to Jonny Gray.

Good tackle by Juan Manuel Leguizamon. Finn Russell throws it

deep to Stuart Hogg. A chip over the top. It is reasonably well placed.

All Nicolas Sanchez can do is carry it into touch. It will be Scotland's

line-out and they have given themselves the opportunity to win

this game. That came from the turnover by Hamish Watson and

Nicolas Sanchez did not -- couldn't do much about it. This is the

turnover. Stuart Hogg decided to kick from this ruck and put the

pressure back on Argentina. The line-outs for Scotland are starting

to look suspect. Tim Swinson takes it down. Penalty advantage to

Scotland. A free attack for Scotland. Nothing coming so at

penalty and it's not an easy kick for Greg

Laidlaw. Tackling the lifter was the offence. You have to wait for the

jumper to hit the ground and the second he hits the ground you can

pull down the jumper or the lifter and if you do it before he hits the

ground it becomes a penalty. It is a technical error but the really

simple error to make and unique composure and Argentina have shown

none. As a man who kicked a few goals for Scotland, Chris Paterson,

you felt this corner down here was mischievous at Murrayfield. He

stands -- the wind whistles round up its dead come this evening. Greg

Laidlaw has knocked over a conversion from that area off the

field already. He will be using that to try and get this over. He landed

it from a very tight position, they can version. This one fractionally

easier. This one to give Scotland the lead.

Too much but scanning around and it's off the post. Who is quickest

to it? Scotland trying to react. Greg Laidlaw was cursing is like. It

is therefore Scotland. Stella Chas to win this match. It might be a

drop goal opportunity. Finn Russell sitting in the pocket. Greg Laidlaw.

Not yet. Jonny Gray. A little bit of diverging from Greg Laidlaw. The

Argentinians waiting for the charged on for the drop goal attempt. The

forwards carry it in. Finn Russell is still deep. The forwards again.

Argentina desperate for the turnover. Greg Laidlaw. Finn Russell

not as deep but yet it is on the charge down is there and now

Scotland have to get back. Ryan Wilson is there. The Argentinian

players pouring in. The scrum goes to Argentina and the opportunity may

have been lost. He wasn't quite as deep. It was a great charge by

Argentina. Look at the pressure from Leonardo Senatore. Arguably that was

too late. Maybe they should have done it a phase earlier. There is

still time. Who is the man of the match? Very difficult to call again

this week. Martin Landajo set the tempo for Argentina. But that man in

the middle, Hamish Watson, wins man of the match. He leads by example.

Jonny Gray with the number of carries and his influence around the

park is second to none. Tonight's man of the match is Jonny Gray. The

injured man is Peter Horne who was involved in the chase back. Peter

Horne in clear discomfort. As it was last week there was a penalty that

hit the post. Look at that anguish. What does it mean to the supporters?

How much influence can they have? Read was frustrated but he must

believe there is another opportunity to win this game. You've got to

believe there is another opportunity. Argentina will be

looking to break out and win the game. Peter Horne is of. A draw

would move Scotland above Argentina but we will look the confirmation of

that. There were three Argentinians on Peter Horne. It looks like a dead

leg. Both teams must see this as an opportunity to win the game. It's

how you attack and defend that can influence it. Argentina will look

for the penalty perhaps. Not giving way yet. Use it says the referee.

Outed cans. Juan Martin Hernandez trying to get past Finn Russell.

There it is. A scrum to Scotland and they still have some hope. Another

joke tackle. Is the referee going to allow this scrum to take place? This

is a big opportunity. It was Alex Dunbar and Finn Russell holding up

Juan Martin Hernandez. The Murrayfield crowd finding its voice.

A final opportunity for Scotland. This will be interesting. The last

two or three scrums have been stable so it should be a good up --

attacking opportunity to Scotland. Looks to be buckling. Away they

come. Finn Russell for Scotland. Wider goals. Carried on by Tommy

Seymour. Still therefore Greg Laidlaw. Jonny Gray is there again.

Argentina tried to disrupt. Greg Laidlaw sunning in -- summoning

support. They might be setting up for a drop goal attempt. Argentina

after you obey every instruction of the referee because they want want

to give away a penalty. Scotland going through the phases. Still

therefore Scotland. Just outside the 22. To do but the moment for a drop

goal attempt. Jonny Gray carries. The Argentinian defence strong at

the moment. Scotland have been here before. The advantages they and a

penalty is therefore Scotland and Argentina have given Greg Laidlaw

one final opportunity to win this game. It is a no arm tackle. No

attempt to wrap. Juan Manuel Leguizamon saying it is just a low

tackle. He led with his shoulder. His elbow was beside his body. The

head coach cannot luck. We said Greg Laidlaw would have another

opportunity. Here it is. That tackle will be looked at in the analysis

afterwards. Juan Manuel Leguizamon felt hard done by. Fingernails are

being chewed as Greg Laidlaw tries to win this match to Scotland.

This time Greg Laidlaw dixit and it has been a sometimes nervy and messy

victory but it is a victory over Argentina and they move above them

in the world rankings. After coming so close last week there were

concerns about how Scotland would win a tight game. It was a

contentious penalty. But after missing a conversion -- a penalty

minutes before Greg Laidlaw had the courage to knock over a vital

penalty. Juan Manuel Leguizamon is still complaining that he says well

done to Greg Laidlaw. He will feel sick Juan Manuel Leguizamon but the

decision has been made. This is the kick that won the game to Scotland.

You are just going through your process and treating it like any

other kick. There was the smile that followed. He leads by example. He

drives his team around the field. That is the reaction of the fans.

All of the free-flowing style of last week was important but the win

this weekend for Scotland is vital. Absolutely vital. The performance

last week was absolutely vital -- outstanding. There is the Scottish

staff. The win was vitally important. The teams were only one

place apart in the world rankings and there was so much on it cost of

the will World Cup draw. They wanted to execute this feels on the field.

A tidy first half in many ways but a much better second half. Let us hear

from the man who has just landed the winning kick, Greg Laidlaw. What on

earth was going through your mind when he got that second chance to

win this Test match? Thank goodness! I was disappointed with the first

one. I missed one on the post last week. I struck the last one

extremely well. Credit to the boys. We are delighted to win. You still

had to close the game against Australia. Where the doubts swirling

in your mind that it might be deja vu? No. We were disappointing after

the Australia game but we have learned quickly in a week. We have

worked so hard all week and I thought the boys were outstanding.

To win at home, there is no better feeling. It got feisty between you

and your opposite number. Was that an indication of what was at stake?

Exactly. We are at home so we were not going to take a backward step.

We look after ourselves. It helps to have men like this on your right?

The big man lost his brothers this week but he was breeding this week.

He puts his body through the mill every week. Jonny Gray, is it a

sense of relief? We are delighted to win and they played to Greg for

kicking a penalty. I thought he led the team well. To get the win back

against a team that was very satisfying. In the course of the

week you found the mindset that you could close that game at having

failed to do it against Australia. It just shows you at small margins.

Argentina scored a great try in the second half. It was a strong

Argentinian team. You were under the pump in the scrums did that put you

on the back foot of it? It is a strong Argentina team. You have to

regroup and we sorted it out and I'm happy to get the win.

Jonny Gray is only 22. You feel like he's been involved in international

rugby for ever. I never grandstand finish. We have had two of them

today. We will tell you about the match in Cardiff in a few minutes

time. Andy, we began the programme by saying Scotland come off second

narrow matches but today they have one. Jonny Gray talked about fine

given the opportunity for them to have a shot at goal for the referee

to make a decision. Scotland had missed two drop goals. All Argentina

had to do was give them easy ball. But that was an easy penalty. Having

just missed when and to win a game when Scotland have one many for Greg

Laidlaw to step up, it was fantastic. The first attempt at a

drop-kick was the one he will be annoyed about. There was not much

pressure. An international stand-off, it comes off the outside

This I think, everyone knew it was too telegraphed. I thought there

were a few phases before that when they were going forward. That was

slow ball. It was very well charged down because everyone knew what was

happening. Sometimes it is a get out of jail free card. Sometimes these

players understand and get the composure right because the previous

one was too early and that one was too late. They really have had one

chance that they had for an attack on.

Just looking at the composure for the last five minutes last weekend

to the five minutes today when they just tightened up totally, they were

still clear in mind this week. We were saying about ten minutes before

the end nobody deserves to win. It is an even game, a draw would be a

fair result. There was a period, especially when Argentina squad that

try, that you felt they were getting in the ascendancy, but they didn't

push on. It looks like they were getting control of the game. They

were going forward, putting some faces together, but all of a sudden

they got undisciplined again. I remember key moments. The Nicolas

Sanchez penalty, as we can see, they finish off a very good move with

Hernandez's kick and around the corner. It looked like things would

happen for Argentina, but they were on the back foot again. We talk

about her nondescript in Quelle, Scotland benefited from the bounce

of the ball last week. It was a beautifully weighted kick from

Hernandez. It bounced perfectly up for Orlando. The game needed that

try because that inspired Scotland to up their game. It was good for

the game. If the game had gone tautly towards Argentina. But the

drop-off from Finn Russell was so accurate, the game changes. Is the

Huw Jones Fanclub gaining numbers every week? It has to. It wasn't a

game particularly for him, not a lot of activity. But look at this. Good

position, good setup. When we are looking here, it is three on three.

There is the matchup, the second and third. It needed a good bit of state

and a handoff to create something out of nothing, which that was, and

then to get the off. We see it from behind. They are evenly matched up

and Huw Jones, we saw him last week, this is more about the upper body

strength. Orlando will be disappointed with that, but look at

the number of defenders attracted in freeing up the space for Sean

Maitland. Either I am stunned with his composure.

Last week under pressure and is today. He has very little to do for

a lot of the game. That was his one big match moment and he did it

perfectly. Instead of going to ground, he had an awareness. It is

very hard to coach that awareness. You have to have it. He has it. Not

Driscoll, it is premature. He was going for a handoff and managed to

off-load it. He had that ability and awareness. We can go to Sonia. You

just said to me, that feels good. How good? Pretty good feeling.

Better than last week. I thought we improved on things. We have two to

nail games like that. Well done to the boys. They stuck in. How proud

of the team they got over the line in the way they couldn't last week?

You saw the grit and determination that they would work this one out

and get the win. We keep pressure on them. I thought they had us at ruck

time. A clear, quick ball. A winter 's evening with a slightly greasy

ball. I thought we were pretty pragmatic but I think we showed

character and it was important to get what we needed. Word on Greig

Laidlaw and his value to Scotland. It is clear. It's great for him that

think it is an awful lot tighter. One team standout ahead, which is

New Zealand. I know Ireland beat them and you'd help deliver crippled

something much change there in the next few minutes. Everybody else is

concertina in a little bit more. It is tough. Look at the top ten. It is

really hard. A victory today for Scotland over Argentina and

supporters still look at Argentina and say, well, we don't think we are

as highly rated. All the players would rate them unbelievably highly,

incredibly difficult to play against and a team that has been said in a

World Cup. They are one of the leading teams. As Argentina had to

Twickenham next week, England obviously had an impressive victory

against South Africa. We will not give away the Fiji squad, don't

worry. We will show that in a second. It is a tough way to finish

a tough year. Speaking to the guys in the team, they were targeting two

or three wins in this tour. They two losses out of two. Going to

Twickenham, potentially the toughest game of the tour. It is worrying,

especially as they haven't been able to develop their game plan in either

game. We hope they can do better next week. Scotland. Georgia next

week. They come off the back of that Samoa result of very confident. My

worry is that everyone looks at these fixtures' decrease in standard

of opposition. Australia, Argentina, Georgia. You look at the result. I

said today that Scotland has to back of their performance last week and

get their win today. They have done it in circumstances, now they have

to back this up by winning next week. Playing the rugby we saw last

week, dictating more of the game. I thought they were reactive today's

Argentina because of the lot of the control they have. They managed to

find the way of winning the game. That is the confidence they will
