Welcome to the BBC Sports Centre. I'm Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes and we

have a lock to pack in. This is Saturday Sportsday.

Here is what is coming up in the show. The British weather has

affected all parts of our lives this week. We have been looking at how

the sporting calendar has been disrupted as well. Brett Seymour is

concentrating on the start of the new Super League season this week.

We will hear how he has turned his life around after a suicide attempt

last year. And Derek Chisora will tell us how

he has become a more placid heavyweight boxing champion. Here

are today's headlines. Great Britain's golden girl, a Lizzy

Yarnold, says she cannot believe she has joined a select list of Winter

Olympic champions. She will collect her gold medal later this afternoon.

Tributes have been paid to one of England's leading goal-scorers, Sir

Tom Finney, who died last night at the age of 91.

And Felix Magath is the new boss at Fulham. He has replaced Rene

Meulensteen after just 17 games in charge. He says the club's owners

have pressed the panic button trying to avoid relegation. Right you're up

to date with all the news, so let's get back to Sochi where our

Correspondent Andy Swiss is following the Olympic action there.

Andy, we'll talk about Britain's golden girl Lizzy Yarnold in a

minute. I know you've had a chat with her this morning, but I want to

ask you first about speed skater Elise Christie because she's missed

out on another medal chance, hasn't she? Yes, it has been a

heartbreaking few days for Elise Christie. She was disqualified on

Thursday and disqualified today in the heats for the 1500 metres. She

looked to have breezed through to the semifinals. But she was so far

on the inside she did not cross the black finish line. Because of that

she was disqualified. Not surprisingly, she was utterly

distraught afterwards. She has reflected on a couple of difficult

days. I saw it on the board and I had no idea. I was playing safe

after what happened the other day and I was trying not to touch anyone

or be near anyone. I did not have a clue what has happened. I am

gobsmacked. I expected this decision the other day but today I have no

idea. A really tough week for Elise Christie. Better news for Britain's

women's curlers. They won their latest round robin match against

South Korea. Eve Muirhead held her nerve so Britain record 10-8 win in

that match against South Korea, their third victory in a row so

things are looking good for them in this qualifying competition. Sad for

Elise Christie but she has her favourite event to come and other

medal chances. Let's bask in the glory of the golden girl Lizzy

Yarnold. You chatted to her earlier. Had you got a photograph? She was

grinning from ear to ear when I spoke to her and who can blame her.

She led the skeleton competition from start to finish. This morning

she told me her success was sinking in. Still not used to it. I think it

will be days and days before it sinks in and I can start calling

myself the Olympic champion. Did you get any chance to celebrate at all

last night? After the third run and I got a track record, I could relax

a little bit and enjoy it and remember what it is about skeleton

that I love and it drives me. It is about always bettering my own

performance. Letting this lead runner I know I made a few people

nervous. But that is the fun of it, there is never a perfect run. How

did she celebrate this morning? By drinking a cup of tea and listening

to the archers. How very British! Now we know the bad weather is still

causing chaos all over the country and it's starting to really take its

toll on the sporting calendar as well. Today there are several

football matches off including Sheffield Wednesday's fifth round FA

Cup tie against Charlton. Patrick Geary has been taking a closer look

for us. Perhaps nothing unusual about rain

in Manchester but with ferocious winds, it was exceptional. The

women's tour through the tree and with it the fixture list will stop.

Premiership football, the impounded the non-men and had lost out to the

weather. -- the billion pound phenomenon. At the Etihad the wind

knocked over the programme huts. Rearranging games has become common

in non-league football. 11 matches have been called off in the

conference National North and South. Their financial future can depend on

the floods receding. There is a lot riding on Cheltenham racecourse, to

ensure the going is rather lest -- left soft before the Cheltenham

Festival. Worcester Cricket ground are working around the water. The

plan is to go on tour and then we will use Kidderminster, our second

ground for preseason practice. We are hoping the water will go down

over the next few weeks and the ground staff can sort it. The ground

is hosting some sport, these pupils at a local School have plenty of

space to practice. Now rugby player Brett Seymour is

taking a positive view as he looks to make his Super League debut for

Castleford Tigers tomorrow at Bradford. The Australian is getting

his career back on track after trying to take his own life last

year. His lowest point was triggered by one bad performance but he says

the Sporting Chance clinic has been crucial to his recovery. Here's our

Rugby League commentator George Riley.

Everything came to a halt. Things caught up with me. My mental state

was not where it usually is. For most rugby league players, the new

season offers excitement, hope and fresh challenges. For Brett Seymour,

it is simply about starting again. His troubles came to a head playing

for Hull FC against Widnes. Seymour's mistakes were caught on

live television. Brett Seymour, that was a very poor pass indeed. The

next day, after taking a combination of alcohol and sleeping pills, he

drove towards the Humber Bridge with the intention of driving straight

off it. Instead, he crashed into two parked cars, flipping his over. It

proved a turning point in a long battle against depression. I was

feeling a bit down about my football, my rugby and it was

overlapping into my life at home as well. My wife had a word to me a few

times. She was sensing something was up with me. Brett has had a

chequered rugby league career. He was sacked by two clubs in Australia

for alcohol-related incidents, convicted of drink driving and

refusing to stop for police, that was all before he came to Super

League. He then checked into Sporting Chance, the clinic set up

by the former England defender Tony Adams. I have been put on two people

at Sporting Chance now who have been tremendous. Without them, I would

not be here. When he came back, he still looked a bit stressed but he

looks like a freer individual and he's enjoying himself now which is

great for him his family. Brett thought about giving up the game,

before Castleford offered him a new chance. It is one he is determined

to take. I have to much to live for at the minute and put my rugby to

the back of my mind and look after my family. What happens out there

stays out on the pitch now. I do not take any baggage out there. Now time

to talk Athletics. It's the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix this

weekend and a chance for the Olympic long-jump champion Greg Rutherford

to rediscover his form from 2012. Rutherford and all the British

athletes will be looking to impress with the squad for the World Indoor

Championships selected on Tuesday. Phil Jones is there for the BBC. For

many athletes it is the last outing before the Championships in Poland.

Colin Jackson is alongside me. Let's talk about your event, the hurdles.

There is no areas merit. We will not have the clash we were hoping for

but I'm sure there will be a good demonstration. If you have a great

opportunity to compete at this level. A 's great coup for this

meeting is Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. She seemed to embrace the indoor

season very well. This is an exciting time for her. It will be a

last outing for the World Indoor Championships. It is great to see

Greg Rutherford. He was not in Glasgow. It is a tough field for him

in the long jump. It was tough for him to get here in the first place.

He will enjoy this competition. And we are looking to a possible two

mile record attempt as well. And enjoy the meeting. Colin and Denise

are alongside me later on. Coverage starts in 20 minutes time

after the news here on BBC One. Derek Chisora is a boxer who hasn't

always shown himself in the best light. Remember his brawl with David

Haye in 2012 and the subsequent loss of his boxing licence? But in the

last 18 months, he's turned his career around. Now European

Heavyweight Champion, he's closing-in another world title shot.

And tonight he fights America's Kevin Johnson. So with flash

photography from the outset, our reporter Tim Hague went to meet the

man who confuses, to say the least. You probably know Derek Chisora for

this. Or this. But while controversial, and complicated,

behind the mask, there is now a softer side for Chisora. As he told

me at his home, a course of anger management has helped with that.

What did they say due? Go to your happy place. Is it easy? It is, I

think everybody should be on it. Why? The world would be a better

place. It is easy to forget that Derek Chisora once fought for the

world heavyweight title against the Talib click to go. This sign at his

local gym is now looking a bit sorry for itself but Chisora is not sorry

about his past and looks only towards the future. You should not

have regrets in life. Those things you call regrets are called

experience. What inspires you? What inspires me most is I do not want to

be a failure. I do not want to sit down and say, I could have been. I

do not want to be one of those guys. The referee has stopped it. To

reach that goal, Chisora will have to get past an ambitious Tyson Fury

first. He's trying to get to the top. You do not get to the top by

fighting nobodies. You have to fight somebody. Don't let the bravado fool

you. This was Chisora before his European title fight in September,

in tears, devastated at the death of his friend and mentor or Dean

Powell. You know what, it did upset me. I am finding it hard right now.

You miss him, don't you? Yes. I can tell that. How did you fight that

day? The European title on the line, you know... As a great musician

says, the show must go on. The show must go on... Stick with the boxing!

It is goalless in the FA Cup fifth round between Sunderland and
