Hello and welcome to the highlights of the second half of the 2012

:00:45.:00:51.

Scottish Rally Championships. Title-holder David Bogie and Barrie

:00:51.:00:57.

Brown are joint leaders after four was. But was all to play for as the

:00:57.:01:07.
:01:07.:01:07.

title race went into overdrive. It started in Dumfries. The Scottish

:01:08.:01:12.

Rally is David Bogie's home event so you was looking for a strong

:01:12.:01:15.

performance to get his season back on track after not finishing the

:01:15.:01:20.

last contest. I am really looking forward to it today, the Home Rally,

:01:20.:01:28.

I am just raring to go. It was a welcome return for Navigator,

:01:28.:01:33.

Kirsty Riddoch, who was back in action with the effervescent Jock

:01:33.:01:38.

Armstrong from Castle Douglas. have been cutting through the gears

:01:38.:01:42.

a bit quicker so that gives you an overall per mile speed that major

:01:42.:01:46.

perhaps a third of a mile quicker. With me getting older, I need the

:01:46.:01:52.

car to be quicker, so it is a good combination! Last season Euan

:01:52.:01:56.

Thorburn and Mike falter were neck and neck for second place Machen

:01:56.:02:02.

the Championship, with Euan Thorburn eventually clinching it.

:02:02.:02:06.

It is going to be really tough out there. It is going to be a great

:02:06.:02:11.

battle all day. I am looking forward to it. Whatever the weather

:02:11.:02:16.

does, it makes conditions a little bit treacherous. Perhaps

:02:16.:02:22.

surprisingly, championship leader Barry Groundwater was not confident

:02:22.:02:28.

of cementing his position. There is after a bitter competition. I might

:02:28.:02:32.

be going backwards. The member, drivers get dirty poise for the

:02:32.:02:39.

victory, 28 per second, 27 for 80, 26 for fourth place, and so on,

:02:39.:02:49.
:02:49.:03:00.

down to 1.4 finishing 29th. -- one., For -- one point. David Bogie

:03:00.:03:03.

seemed to use the disappointment of failing to finish the last event to

:03:03.:03:10.

spur him on in stage one. He and his co-driver completed the 8.5

:03:10.:03:16.

miles 18 seconds quicker than closest challenger, Jock Armstrong.

:03:16.:03:20.

In the first stage of any Rally, you want to put in a good enough

:03:20.:03:30.
:03:30.:03:37.

About six corners in I slid a wide, then got onto really slippy stuff,

:03:37.:03:40.

then it knocks you back a bit and you have got to build your

:03:40.:03:48.

confidence again. Time-wise, we don't know what day was, but might

:03:48.:03:54.

balk but did not seem to come out, so I don't know. A whilst Armstrong

:03:54.:03:58.

and David Bogie were satisfied with their first stage efforts, the same

:03:58.:04:06.

could not be said of Euan Thorburn. I was going well and then a mile

:04:06.:04:10.

and a half towards the end I just got no power at all, tried

:04:10.:04:20.

everything. It is pretty frustrating. You could just keep

:04:20.:04:30.
:04:30.:04:33.

going but we just lost that much Rory Young and Allan Cathers in an

:04:33.:04:38.

older Mitsubishi Lancer a Evo 5 were going well, in third place

:04:38.:04:44.

overall. But they only led Mike Walker and Peter Foy by the most

:04:44.:04:49.

slender margin, with less than a second separating them after a

:04:49.:04:55.

stage one. Barry Groundwater with Neil Shanks made up the top five, a

:04:55.:05:02.

brother three seconds behind Faulkner. The rain swept in at the

:05:02.:05:08.

start of stage two, but it did not affect David Bogie, consolidating

:05:08.:05:16.

first place. Armstrong and Riddick were again the closest challengers,

:05:16.:05:26.
:05:26.:05:27.

completing a windy hill, two seconds slower than the challengers.

:05:27.:05:32.

Faulkner and Foy eased into the top three. That was despite losing time

:05:32.:05:40.

to a suspension problem. The risk was that there was that joint there,

:05:40.:05:45.

feeling, so with about 10 minutes to go they found that and they a

:05:45.:05:51.

cracking on, changing that. Barry Groundwater moved up one place to

:05:51.:05:56.

ride into the top four and keep his title challenge on course. And

:05:56.:06:03.

Bonnie McDonald from Inverness made up the top five after a storming

:06:03.:06:09.

drive through Windy Hill. From experience in the past in this

:06:09.:06:12.

Rally, that area was not technologically good for me, but I

:06:12.:06:22.
:06:22.:06:35.

have got through that, and I will Talk before the event had been

:06:35.:06:37.

about whether Euan Thorburn could finish his Reivers Rally victory by

:06:37.:06:42.

beating David Bogie on his home turf. The results from stage three

:06:42.:06:47.

suggested that if it did not been for the earlier problems, the

:06:47.:06:53.

driver from Barnes might have given the charm a run for his money. Euan

:06:53.:06:56.

Thorburn got round almost 10 seconds quicker than David Bogie,

:06:56.:07:02.

and moved up to third place. But, David Bogie was still well out in

:07:02.:07:06.

front, and it looked as if the battle would be for the minor

:07:06.:07:16.
:07:16.:07:18.

Armstrong was still in second spot, holding off Euan Thorburn, with a

:07:18.:07:22.

lead of 21 seconds. A great comeback for the Castle Douglas

:07:23.:07:30.

driver. Onstage four, Euan Thorburn again set a pace that nobody else

:07:30.:07:33.

could live with, taking the stage by five seconds from David Bogie

:07:33.:07:39.

and closing the gap on Armstrong to just nine seconds. He was left to

:07:39.:07:49.
:07:49.:07:51.

rue his shock Filia. It is part of the game, I suppose. -- failure.

:07:51.:08:01.
:08:01.:08:02.

David Bogie faced a couple of tricky moments. A very long two

:08:02.:08:08.

right, over 100. He was still 39 seconds ahead of Jock Armstrong.

:08:08.:08:13.

The short blast through the spectator stage was next. Then, it

:08:13.:08:19.

was on to the longest stage of the event. It was a test that held a

:08:19.:08:24.

bad memories for David Bogie. a puncture on it last year and it

:08:24.:08:27.

cost me the victory, so I am under no illusions that the same can

:08:27.:08:31.

happen again. I was trying to keep it out of trouble, but the pace has

:08:31.:08:36.

quickened. Jock Armstrong was able to take advantage of that puncture

:08:36.:08:40.

the previous year and win the event, but he was more preoccupied about

:08:40.:08:45.

holding off Euan Thorburn. Euan Thorburn has come back massively.

:08:45.:08:50.

He is 21 seconds quicker on that stage, and 10 seconds quicker than

:08:50.:09:00.

David, so he has found a bit of speed. I might be one down on the

:09:00.:09:10.
:09:10.:09:31.

David Bogie was quickest through Heathhall. With Armstrong and

:09:31.:09:36.

Riddick holding on to second position. They increased their lead

:09:36.:09:40.

over Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton to just over 11 seconds, going on

:09:40.:09:45.

to the longest stage of the day. On that final test, David Bogie and

:09:45.:09:49.

Euan Thorburn finished with the joint fastest time, put in the

:09:49.:09:53.

result of the event beyond doubt, it was the 4th win of the season

:09:53.:09:59.

were David Bogie. Euan Thorburn did just enough to make second from

:09:59.:10:05.

Armstrong, but he was pondering what might have been. You try very

:10:05.:10:12.

hard, and that is all we could have done, really. We got second, which

:10:12.:10:19.

is probably unbelievable, after this morning's stage the. Jock

:10:19.:10:25.

Armstrong made an impressive comeback the Finnish in third place.

:10:25.:10:29.

We're all on that tender area, today, but those boys have beaten

:10:29.:10:33.

me today, fair and square. again, there was no stopping David

:10:33.:10:43.
:10:43.:10:43.

Bogie. In has been a very good beer. -- it has been a very good day. The

:10:43.:10:50.

pace has been very good. Everybody has been trying out. I have really

:10:50.:10:54.

enjoyed it. After three second place finishes, Mike Walker was

:10:54.:10:59.

disappointed not to make it onto the podium, but he was lucky to

:10:59.:11:08.

reach the end at all. I nosedived into the ground and the were still

:11:08.:11:11.

accelerating when we should have been braking, going at about 40

:11:11.:11:16.

miles an hour too fast, and then be straight down the pits for about

:11:16.:11:25.

100 yards. Local crew Peter Stuart and Phil Short were not as

:11:25.:11:29.

fortunate as Faulkner. They left the road near the end of the final

:11:29.:11:39.
:11:39.:11:41.

Emergency crews were quickly at the scene, and Peter and Phil were

:11:41.:11:46.

taken to hospital in Dumfries. Phil is get that bad bruising and Peter

:11:46.:11:51.

returned home a few days later after treatment in Glasgow. The

:11:51.:11:55.

car's receive the equipment had done its job, although the drivers

:11:55.:12:00.

will take a bit longer to mend. Barry Groundwater, who shared the

:12:00.:12:03.

Championship lead with David Bogie going into the weekend would not

:12:03.:12:09.

have been too pleased to have finished in fifth place. David

:12:09.:12:13.

Wilson and co-driver David Robson took the honours and the two-wheel

:12:13.:12:23.
:12:23.:12:27.

drive category in their mark to Ford Escort. -- Mark II. The table

:12:27.:12:37.
:12:37.:12:57.

When the RSAC roadshow hit Elgin, for the Speyside Rally, the sixth

:12:57.:13:00.

event in the Championship calendar, you know that you're approaching

:13:00.:13:06.

the business end of the competition. David Bogie was looking for is that

:13:06.:13:10.

successive victory at the event. There were and number of other

:13:10.:13:14.

Rally crews snapping at his heels, not least Euan Thorburn, who knew

:13:14.:13:18.

that nothing but a victory would do in this event, to keep his

:13:18.:13:22.

championship hopes alive. It is going to be a sprint race, so we

:13:22.:13:31.

have to be on it from the word go. When you get to this point in the

:13:31.:13:37.

season everything is very closer. This is where whoever wins the

:13:37.:13:47.
:13:47.:13:47.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:13:47.:14:44.

Championship will start to pull After the two glass around the park,

:14:44.:14:50.

John Armstrong held a slim one- second lead from Barry Armstrong --

:14:50.:14:58.

jock Armstrong held the lead from Barry Groundwater. Euan Thornburn

:14:58.:15:02.

was tied on time with David Bogie. Might fall no made up the top five

:15:02.:15:07.

but the event would not really take shape until the event moved into

:15:07.:15:17.
:15:17.:15:42.

The stage is suited Euan Thornburn and Paul Beaton in their Ford Focus.

:15:42.:15:46.

The superior traction and handling of the world rally car meant the

:15:46.:15:50.

crew could take advantage of running first on the smooth roads.

:15:50.:15:58.

By the end of stage four, they had recorded two fastest stage times

:15:58.:16:02.

and where six seconds ahead of Armstrong and co-driver Kirsty

:16:02.:16:10.

Riddick. They were still finding their Subaru Impreza. More

:16:10.:16:14.

importantly for Thornburn's hopes of winning the title, he put 16

:16:14.:16:22.

seconds between himself and David Bogie. Kevin Ray was third. Mike

:16:22.:16:25.

Faulkner and Peter for you were doing well to hang on to their

:16:25.:16:31.

coat-tails. And there was a spirited effort from Chris Collie

:16:31.:16:41.

and Lisa Watson in their egos six to complete the top five -- in

:16:41.:16:47.

their Mitsubishi evoke six. They all drove the test quicker than

:16:47.:16:54.

organisers thought they could. Thornburn, Armstrong and Bogie were

:16:54.:16:59.

all given the same scratch time. The stages are fantastic and they

:16:59.:17:06.

really drive corner, corner, corn and fast car stuff as well. Euan's

:17:06.:17:13.

car will help him but he still is the driver of the car and they

:17:13.:17:18.

cannot take it away from him. He is put in the car together now. Good

:17:18.:17:23.

on him. It would be nice to be -- beat him, that is all!

:17:23.:17:31.

defending champion was not having the best day behind the wheel.

:17:31.:17:34.

there was a misfire and the car in front stopped in the middle of the

:17:34.:17:39.

Road. We lost a bit of time there. Int Comm failed two-thirds through

:17:39.:17:49.
:17:49.:17:49.

the stage and then we all beat the normal time. Mike Faulkner had been

:17:49.:17:52.

4th in the previous round in Dumfries and he was struggling to

:17:52.:18:02.
:18:02.:18:02.

The Indonesian pairing of Donny MacDonald and Andrew fog now have

:18:02.:18:07.

been quietly increasing their pace through the season. Although only

:18:07.:18:17.
:18:17.:18:18.

30 be in the championship in Elgin -- only 30th. If they did have a

:18:18.:18:22.

moment, it has given us a chance for fingers crossed to be behind

:18:22.:18:32.
:18:32.:18:46.

Thornburn recorded another fastest stage time to pull 18 seconds clear

:18:46.:18:56.
:18:56.:18:59.

But the most remarkable result of the day came on stage seven where

:18:59.:19:03.

the front three recorded exactly the same time on the seven-mile

:19:03.:19:09.

test. By this time, Quentin Milne thought he had forced himself into

:19:09.:19:15.

the reckoning, grabbing 5th spot from McDonald. But after

:19:15.:19:20.

discovering he picked up a time penalty on stage six, Quentin Milne

:19:20.:19:24.

decided to retire and save the car for the next event.

:19:24.:19:28.

Chris Collie with co-pilot Lisa Watson had slipped down to 7th and

:19:28.:19:38.
:19:38.:20:06.

would finish one place higher for Thornburn and Paul Beaton looked to

:20:07.:20:12.

be home, it they recorded their second event winner of the season.

:20:12.:20:15.

More importantly, he kept the championship fight alive for

:20:15.:20:22.

another round. We need two more of these. That is the plan. It will be

:20:22.:20:29.

hard to beat David in the championship now. I am chuffed.

:20:29.:20:34.

real battle was for second place. Armstrong and Riddick had been

:20:34.:20:40.

reeled in and held on their one- second lead over Bogie and Ray in

:20:40.:20:42.

third. With crucial championship points at stake and time running

:20:43.:20:49.

out, Bogie put in a final push to grab second spot. Bogie had done

:20:49.:20:54.

enough and he claimed the runner- up's position by a single second.

:20:54.:20:59.

Hopefully things will fall into place. As I say, this will not be

:20:59.:21:02.

easy. These guys are all driving very hard so we will see what

:21:02.:21:08.

happens. There was a hack Tipping performance from Ian Robertson and

:21:08.:21:14.

Keith Nicol who finished 11th overall who finished in their Ford

:21:14.:21:18.

Escort Mark two. And there was a hugely impressive drive by John

:21:18.:21:22.

Boyd and Chris Williamson in their Ford Fiesta S T who maintained

:21:22.:21:32.
:21:32.:21:40.

leader board is building to an exciting climax. Barry Groundwater

:21:40.:21:48.

his 5th. John McClory is for. Mike Faulkner his third. You and the

:21:48.:21:52.

armed bun's victory pushes him into second. But David Bogie is still

:21:52.:22:02.
:22:02.:22:03.

out in front with 148 points. Euan Thornburn is in second.

:22:03.:22:07.

The penultimate event on the calendar, only four stages long,

:22:07.:22:14.

one of them was the 19 miles long. Euan Thornburn had to win to keep

:22:14.:22:19.

the championship alive. David Bogie only had to finish second to claim

:22:19.:22:25.

a 4th consecutive SRC Crown. have just got be serious about what

:22:25.:22:30.

we are doing and try to drive fast and keep the car on the road.

:22:30.:22:33.

know what we have to do today, it is really straight forward, we have

:22:33.:22:40.

to win. I'm looking forward to it. You could not discount last year's

:22:40.:22:46.

Merit winner, Mike felt there. is a tight battle between UN and

:22:46.:22:56.
:22:56.:23:03.

David -- last year's Merrick when co-driver Paul Beaton made it clear

:23:03.:23:10.

that David Bogie would have to win. They blasted through the stage five

:23:10.:23:15.

seconds quicker than anyone else. The stage was not easy. It was

:23:15.:23:21.

slippy and narrow with big rocks. There was a long section at the end.

:23:21.:23:25.

They were forcing us off the track into the grass. We were really

:23:25.:23:32.

lucky there. Need to calm down a bit for the rest. Bogie and

:23:32.:23:40.

navigator Kevin Ray were second. Local driver Jock Armstrong were a

:23:40.:23:45.

further four seconds adrift. I know we are losing time-outs at

:23:45.:23:51.

junctions, it is a bit scrappy. We are having to decide what tired to

:23:51.:23:55.

use. But tie lasted well for the first stage but whether it would go

:23:55.:24:04.

90 miles, I don't know. Might form now and Peter for we were 4th

:24:04.:24:14.
:24:14.:24:22.

another fastest time. But the effort could have cost them.

:24:23.:24:31.

box is stuck in 6th gear. La three or four and Miles, could not get

:24:31.:24:35.

down through the box so had to concentrate. Have to see if I can

:24:35.:24:40.

fix it. Bogie and Ray were steady enough

:24:40.:24:45.

and second but they also had problems picking up a puncture with

:24:45.:24:50.

3.5 miles left to run through the forest. I was all over the place.

:24:50.:24:54.

It is real braves stuff and the last thing you want is the back end

:24:54.:25:03.

moving about. It was not ideal. The stage itself was in good condition.

:25:03.:25:09.

It was one rock. Jock Armstrong and Kirsty Riddick were clinging on to

:25:09.:25:16.

third spot. But all eyes were on the service bay of teen Thornburn

:25:16.:25:21.

and the sounds were not looking good. There is an oil leak coming

:25:21.:25:25.

from somewhere so we have to see where it is coming from and if we

:25:25.:25:30.

can go out in the last two stages. I want to stay in the league if we

:25:30.:25:36.

can. But potentially, it could be over. Fingers crossed for good news.

:25:36.:25:39.

While the mechanics worked feverishly to get the car back on

:25:39.:25:45.

the road, there was advice and concern from his closest rival.

:25:45.:25:49.

good at this stage so hopefully he gets back out. It is not what you

:25:49.:25:56.

want to see. It is not what I want to see but hopefully they will get

:25:56.:26:02.

back out. Euan Thornburn was making desperate attempts to contact his

:26:02.:26:07.

car preparation company to see if there was a fix for the oil problem.

:26:07.:26:14.

If he did not get out of service, his title hopes would vanish.

:26:14.:26:19.

oil in the system. If I ran dry it will knacker the transmission. We

:26:19.:26:27.

will have to see if we can top the oil up. Finally, the car burst into

:26:27.:26:37.
:26:37.:26:38.

life. But could he keep it going until the end? The pump is not

:26:38.:26:44.

working. It is on manual shift. If you can keep the oil in, it will be

:26:44.:26:54.
:26:54.:27:27.

duty the Duns driver's gearbox had consolidated his third position

:27:27.:27:36.

in the event and led a 4th place might Faulkner by 20 seconds.

:27:36.:27:40.

Donnie MacDonald and Andrew Faulkner were putting together

:27:40.:27:45.

another consistent performance to boost themselves into 5th.

:27:45.:27:48.

Thornburn's extra long service stop meant he had lost his place in the

:27:48.:27:55.

running order so Bogie went not knowing whether his adversary was

:27:55.:27:58.

still in the event. When he came at the other side in the second

:27:58.:28:03.

quickest time for the stage, he was taking nothing for granted. I don't

:28:03.:28:08.

know if he left service for a start. It is always the same, the last

:28:08.:28:11.

stage in the rally, the one that could decide the championship, it

:28:11.:28:16.

is about keeping it under control, not getting any punctures and that

:28:16.:28:20.

is what we have done. I think we have been pretty cautious. Sadly

:28:20.:28:24.

for Thornburn, his mechanical problems meant he had retired

:28:24.:28:34.
:28:34.:28:48.

thought for Euan Thorburn, who had come into this season with a new

:28:48.:28:52.

car that he had begun to master, and he had begun to push David

:28:52.:28:59.

Bogie, but it was not quite enough. There is hard to put into words,

:29:00.:29:05.

obviously, he deserves it, but it is not very good, finishing like

:29:05.:29:10.

this. I think it is something that is going to sink in come tomorrow

morning. I am very happy, I have had a hard you, but an enjoyable

rear -- year. The podium was completed by Jock Armstrong, who

:29:20.:29:25.

finished second, at last year's's winner, Mike Faulkner, was third.

:29:25.:29:29.

The title might have been decided but it was still all to play for in

:29:29.:29:33.

the race for second place. Barry Groundwater is tough with 115

:29:33.:29:43.
:29:43.:30:05.

With the title sewn up, Euan Thorburn and Mike Faulkner went

:30:05.:30:09.

into the last event of the season battling for second place in the

:30:09.:30:14.

Championship. If Euan Thorburn finished nor an fourth place, he

:30:14.:30:24.
:30:24.:30:25.

would secure his second overall runners-up position. David Bogie

:30:25.:30:33.

had elected to take part in a Ford Escort Mark 2, hired in from

:30:33.:30:39.

Ireland for the day. There is no comparison. The similarity being

:30:39.:30:42.

that the car is always pulling at the front end whereas now there is

:30:42.:30:46.

no pool at the front end and we're working with the rear, so it is

:30:46.:30:50.

completely different. It will be a learning curve, so I am just

:30:50.:30:55.

desperate to get a couple of stages out of the way. David Bogie and

:30:55.:30:59.

Kevin Rea led off the event with plenty enthusiasm but no great

:30:59.:31:08.

His it would be interesting to see how the Scottish champion cope with

:31:09.:31:18.
:31:19.:31:36.

the new car over such a challenging himself on the field from the start.

:31:36.:31:41.

But his challenge was over almost before it began. At the third

:31:41.:31:47.

corner of stage one has Ford Focus world rally car hit a rock. It has

:31:47.:31:55.

altered in suspension and will damage. -- will damage. You must be

:31:55.:31:58.

gutted that that end to the season. The season did not start well and

:31:58.:32:04.

it has ended on a bad note. It is my fault, we got a puncture and it

:32:04.:32:09.

shocked at the wheel back. We did get to the end of the stage. Fair

:32:09.:32:13.

play to Mike, he has done well all year, so he probably deserves it.

:32:13.:32:22.

It is just a bad weekend. The way was clear for Mike Walker and Peter

:32:22.:32:26.

Foy to claim second in the Championship. Even and on Finnish

:32:26.:32:30.

would not scupper their chances, but the peer were desperate to win

:32:30.:32:35.

the event and were lying in Max second place after a stage one. At

:32:35.:32:39.

the start of the season Quinton Milne had been the experts' tip to

:32:39.:32:45.

do well, but mechanical gremlins torpedoed his title hopes long ago.

:32:45.:32:48.

Driving without the pressure of having to win seemed to suit

:32:48.:32:55.

Clinton Milne. And he raced into the lead with a 2.5 second cushion

:32:55.:33:01.

over Mike Faulkner. Chris Cawley and Lisa wasn't were going well in

:33:01.:33:06.

that third place, one place ahead of... Barry Groundwater and Mel

:33:06.:33:13.

Shanks, who had also started well, doing their prospects of ending in

:33:13.:33:21.

the top five no harm at all. Falter and for a clear round stage two,

:33:21.:33:28.

Griffin. They could not overhaul the Aberdeenshire driver in the

:33:28.:33:37.

overall standings. Watson put another determined drive in through

:33:37.:33:42.

Griffin and retained their place. The battle water supplies was

:33:42.:33:47.

getting interesting. John McClory went through five seconds quicker

:33:47.:33:53.

than Barry Groundwater. David Bogie had not started well in his Escort

:33:53.:33:59.

Mk II, coming early 23rd place after stage one, but the champion

:33:59.:34:05.

that he is, he hauled himself back up into 12th place, 33 seconds down

:34:05.:34:10.

on the leader, Quintin Milne. Last year's dreadful weather made

:34:10.:34:17.

servicing a nightmare, so organisers use the Community Campus

:34:17.:34:21.

in Aberfeldy as the first stopping the event. After these two stages,

:34:21.:34:28.

how has it been? In it has certainly been a challenge, we got

:34:28.:34:32.

a puncture towards the end of the stage, so it was not an ideal start

:34:32.:34:36.

but we were happy with the time on the second stage. We said we would

:34:36.:34:39.

get the first two stage is out of the way and push on from there,

:34:40.:34:45.

that is what he did. For second place in the Championship confirm,

:34:45.:34:51.

Faulkner and Folly had their sights set on catching Quintin Milne.

:34:51.:35:01.
:35:01.:35:09.

Despite some mechanical scares, the two, and then we had a scare just

:35:09.:35:18.

towards the end of the stage. It did not cost us any real time. We

:35:18.:35:28.
:35:28.:35:55.

three, coming in pence seconds ahead of London Milne. -- Faulkner

:35:55.:36:04.

continued. It was bad news for Chris Cawley and Lisa wasn't the

:36:04.:36:07.

drop-out due to mechanical problems, a disappointing end to what had

:36:07.:36:12.

been a good season. Barry Groundwater kept his nose in front

:36:12.:36:20.

of John McClory, and found himself 11 seconds clear. David Bogie made

:36:20.:36:25.

a big charge through the field, completing the stage 4th quickest

:36:25.:36:31.

to move into fifth place overall. Not bad for somebody who only had a

:36:31.:36:38.

brief test drive in de Escort Mk II the previous week. Faulkner failed

:36:38.:36:45.

to start stage four because of electrical problems, so Quinton

:36:45.:36:54.

Milne recapture the lead 29 seconds ahead of Barry Groundwater. He was

:36:54.:37:01.

still leading, but could not shake John McClory. Until a puncture in

:37:01.:37:06.

Stage 5 put a dent in the challenge from the Glasgow driver. We thought

:37:06.:37:12.

we had reeled in Barry Groundwater in the first three a four stages,

:37:12.:37:17.

but he has managed to get away. He was due some luck and we were you

:37:17.:37:24.

some bad luck, so here we go. Quentin Milne was fastest truce

:37:24.:37:27.

these five and was beginning to pull away from the second-placed

:37:27.:37:32.

Barry Groundwater. David Bogie charged through Stage 5 in the

:37:33.:37:37.

second quickest time and now found himself in a podium position at one

:37:37.:37:42.

stage left. E each stage is getting better and better. I am not sure

:37:42.:37:47.

what the time was like in that last stage, but certainly, it felt good

:37:47.:37:51.

and I felt like the car, I knew what it was going to do, but we

:37:51.:37:57.

have got a long way to go. If David Bogie was back in familiar

:37:57.:38:02.

territory, the same cannot be said of Clinton Milne, who was making

:38:02.:38:12.
:38:12.:38:16.

his crew work overtime to help him win his first src event. I have had

:38:16.:38:20.

a pretty tormented year, getting punctures and mechanical failures,

:38:21.:38:27.

the last one was my fault, but if I can keep it together for one more

:38:27.:38:32.

stage it would be a great end to the season. It is looking promising

:38:32.:38:39.

if you can keep it together. I hope so. It is truly rough out there.

:38:39.:38:42.

That second last one, you have got your fingers crossed that you do

:38:42.:38:47.

not get a puncture. Are you going to take it a little more calmly, or

:38:47.:38:57.

for the Inverness driver. Unbelievably, bearded bogies cost

around in the quickest time to finish third in the event. Bus -

David Bogie. He elected not to score SRC points so as not to

:40:13.:40:19.

interfere with the battle for places. The first time in a rear-

:40:19.:40:22.

wheel-drive car, it feels like I have won the rally, it has been a

:40:22.:40:27.

very enjoyable day, first-class stages, very slippy, very muddy,

:40:27.:40:31.

and it was not easy but the last two stages I felt as if I was

:40:31.:40:35.

driving the car the way that it should be driven, and it was very

:40:35.:40:41.

rewarding. That performance was enough to seal second place for the

:40:41.:40:49.

stony wind driver. -- Stonehaven. Clinton Milne and Martin Forrest

back of a little on the final stage but did enough to take the spoils.

:40:55.:41:01.

Here is the winner, what was it like? I have been quite a few

:41:01.:41:08.

things today, bent both arms, lost the brakes, and they got some

:41:08.:41:12.

sponsorship from: when I was a junior, he was good friends from my

:41:12.:41:17.

dad, but it is a decent finish at the end of the season. Mike Bock -

:41:17.:41:21.

had done enough to be runner up to David Bogie in the Championship in

:41:21.:41:29.

his venerable Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6. The enjoyment we get is building

:41:29.:41:33.

the car up to compete at the top end and that is what makes the

:41:33.:41:35.

Scottish championship, you do not have to spend a fortune to be able

:41:35.:41:41.

to do it, you can build a car and compete with it top guys, and that

:41:41.:41:46.

is what makes the Championship what it is. Although he ended that day,

:41:46.:41:52.

two places behind Barry Groundwater, Glasgow's John McClory pulled off

:41:52.:41:58.

an impressive third place overall in that the title race. It no

front-wheel-drive category, Alex Pirie and David Law clinched their

:42:02.:42:11.

second successive championship in a Vauxhall Corsa. Dougal Brown from

:42:11.:42:16.

Inverness confirmed his superiority in the prestigious group in class.

:42:16.:42:20.

And Craig Rutherford from the Isle of Mull won the class of and in his

Honda Civic. At Raisa Wilson in an exodus Elijah Evo 6 finished best

dismal end to the seasons on sink to fifth place. Barry Groundwater

claimed 4th. John McClory was in that place. Mike Faulkner's overall

consistency push them into second place. There was no doubting the

:43:00.:43:09.

SRC master, four-time champion David Bogie, with 170 points. We
