Day 8 Snooker: World Championship Highlights

If welcome to highlights from the Betfred.com World Championship,

including action from the second round match between Alec Carter and

Judd Trump. But we start with two matches which ended early today.

Stephen Maguire beat Joe Perry overnight and converted that

advantage to seal his spot in the quarterfinals for the fourth time

in six years. No pressure on Joe after the second session. All the

pressure is on me now to finish it. The match is only yours to lose and

that can add pressure. I will have to improve my game this week

because I am not playing well enough. Maguire now faces Stephen

Hendry after her he took the single frame he needed this afternoon to

end the hopes of the out of sorts defending champion John Higgins. It

was a crushing 13 -4 win. someone had said I would win 13-4

against John Higgins, I would have said they had too much to drink.

Last night I was fortunate in that that was the worst he has ever

played at the Crucible. Stephen was at the best I have seen him in a

long time. I was getting myself ready for a great game, but after I

made the first couple of mistakes, from then on it was torture. It is

the first time I have won two matches in a row at a venue for God

thinking Clegg has that inhibited him? But it does not look like that

great deal and I know he can play better than he did in our match.
