Good evening. You might have dabbled a bit with the World Championship

:00:17.:00:43.

over the last ten days, that I know that many of you watching at home

:00:44.:00:48.

only get seriously obsessed in the second week. We only have two more

:00:49.:00:54.

places to be filled in the quarterfinal line-up. But let's

:00:55.:01:00.

remind you of how round two has been developing here.

:01:01.:01:43.

With me, the seven times champion of the world. And invitation last week

:01:44.:01:54.

coming your way about perhaps be joining the tour. What is the deal?

:01:55.:02:04.

Standing here in this atmosphere, no one could say they would not want to

:02:05.:02:09.

play. If the invitation comes, I would probably have to accept it.

:02:10.:02:20.

But not ruled out? No. What about the full-time players, Judd Trump

:02:21.:02:32.

and Ryan Day. Judd Trump didn't play well in his first round, but he

:02:33.:02:35.

looks like he is starting to recover his form. Shaun Murphy, 9-7 up on

:02:36.:02:43.

Marco Fu. He just has to play his natural game, attack. Those two

:02:44.:02:49.

matches will be sorted out right here, right now. Rob Walker.

:02:50.:03:00.

Good evening. We started ten days ago with 32 of the very best in the

:03:01.:03:06.

world. By the end of tonight, only eight shall remain. We are expecting

:03:07.:03:12.

a fantastic night of action. The two sports left up for grabs, they will

:03:13.:03:25.

be facing Ronnie O'Sullivan or Neil Robertson.

:03:26.:03:31.

Please welcome first of all, a player undoubtedly back to his very

:03:32.:03:39.

best. He has injured some tough years, he won the Australian open at

:03:40.:03:49.

the start of this season. He is back in the world's top eight, heading

:03:50.:03:58.

for his first Crucible quarterfinal in eight years, Marco Fu!

:03:59.:04:14.

And his opponent. A player who has worked so hard on and off the table

:04:15.:04:28.

to take his game to the next level. He is fitter than he was a year ago,

:04:29.:04:32.

he is thinner than he was a year ago, he is determined to taste

:04:33.:04:37.

success on the big stage once again. Here he comes, with a cue rather

:04:38.:04:43.

than a cape, the magician, Shaun Murphy.

:04:44.:05:04.

And here on table two, please welcome a Welshman, once again on

:05:05.:05:10.

the verge of a place in the world's top 20. He knocked out Stephen

:05:11.:05:17.

Maguire in the first round. He is a three-time ranking event finalist,

:05:18.:05:25.

he is applied of Wales, Ryan Day. -- he is the pride.

:05:26.:05:41.

And finally, arguably the most exciting player of his generation,

:05:42.:05:51.

bidding for a third appearance in a Crucible quarterfinal, we have

:05:52.:05:57.

marvelled at his shot and style. Hewlett comes, with his own brand of

:05:58.:06:07.

knotty snooker, the ace in the pack, Judd Trump.

:06:08.:06:18.

Pretty lively in here tonight. Both games are available to you all

:06:19.:06:30.

night. We are going to start with their Judd Trump and Ryan Day match.

:06:31.:06:33.

Over to Ken Doherty and John Virgo. Good evening everybody. The final

:06:34.:06:45.

session. Judd Trump gets it underway. If you could put your

:06:46.:06:51.

finger on one thing about this match, Judd Trump has given the

:06:52.:06:59.

safety side of the match but more respect. Absolutely. He has been

:07:00.:07:07.

capitalising on Ryan Day's mistakes as well. He missed four flame balls

:07:08.:07:20.

in this match. -- frame. That anything could happen in this last

:07:21.:07:27.

session as we have seen many times. But Judd Trump is playing an awful

:07:28.:07:28.

lot better. So many frames that players can find

:07:29.:07:38.

their form. Yes, it's a marathon of the mind.

:07:39.:08:03.

It's not all about one day. He has got the bomb. A mistake. First one.

:08:04.:08:09.

That is the last thing Ryan Day needed. Has he left anything? I

:08:10.:08:21.

think he has got away with it. The two reds to the left pocket are

:08:22.:08:26.

covering each other. No plot to go out there.

:08:27.:08:38.

If you have got the natural angle to the first red, play it. But just

:08:39.:08:53.

playing safety. When you are playing catch up, as

:08:54.:09:06.

Ryan Day is, you need a little help from your opponent and a good run of

:09:07.:09:10.

the ball. And Ryan Day had it there. The average dreamtime, just under 15

:09:11.:09:44.

minutes. -- frame time. That is pretty quick.

:09:45.:10:12.

The problem here is he is careering into the link, -- oink.

:10:13.:10:43.

He is giving it plenty of thought. What to report it was -- what a

:10:44.:11:24.

he took the opportunity of going into the reds. He has a couple of

:11:25.:11:35.

options here. He would love to get on the black, but he is so close to

:11:36.:11:38.

the red. He is giving it a bit of thinking

:11:39.:12:44.

time. We must mention Sheila, who every year gives us a big bag of

:12:45.:12:56.

rock cakes and parkin. Everybody has enjoyed it. Thank you very much.

:12:57.:13:13.

Judd Trump was looking to see if he had got the cue ball up into the

:13:14.:13:23.

jaws of the pocket. That may be a possible pot.

:13:24.:13:37.

Trying to get in behind the green. That is a very good line. I think he

:13:38.:13:48.

has covered the reds in the left corner. He may just be forced into

:13:49.:13:55.

playing this red to the right corner.

:13:56.:14:14.

You can see it is very straight. But I think he is forced into it.

:14:15.:14:51.

This led to the right of the black, I wonder if Judd Trump thinks it

:14:52.:15:02.

could go to the other end. Can he get past.

:15:03.:15:08.

Ryan was forced into playing that led. He must have known he would be

:15:09.:15:27.

leaving that red. Beautifully played.

:15:28.:16:29.

He is blessed with tremendous cue power. Trying to get a red into this

:16:30.:16:41.

bottom left-hand corner pocket. It is a good effort.

:16:42.:16:59.

The one at the bottom of the cluster goes, but it is a missable pot. This

:17:00.:17:15.

is a risky shot. Look at the way he has left the

:17:16.:17:35.

reds. If there is an easy starter, what a chance this is for Ryan Day.

:17:36.:17:46.

But he doesn't think there is anything easy to go out. -- go at.

:17:47.:17:57.

Red to the far right corner. A clear path for that one. Quite a bit of

:17:58.:18:06.

pressure on this as well. I'm sure he thought he would have it easier

:18:07.:18:13.

than this. This is tough. But he has played it well. Excellent shot.

:18:14.:18:41.

Excellent opportunity here. Just look at the way the reds are

:18:42.:18:44.

spread. All the way through this match, Ryan

:18:45.:19:05.

Day has looked good. He looks very confident. He has got

:19:06.:19:31.

a nice pace about him around the table.

:19:32.:19:43.

You know as well as I do, it is the frames you don't think you can win,

:19:44.:19:57.

someone makes a mistake, and you clear up, they can be real body

:19:58.:20:07.

blows to the one who has lost it. He is taking extra care here. He

:20:08.:20:12.

desperately needed this first frame. He is undecided. If this one clears

:20:13.:20:54.

the pink spot, but he still can't make his mind up. You can give it

:20:55.:20:58.

too much thought sometimes. He has played it nicely. No perfect

:20:59.:21:25.

on the blue. We are seeing this first frame of

:21:26.:21:57.

this session safe. It should have been an awful lot

:21:58.:22:41.

easier than this. Just red and high value colour required here. And

:22:42.:22:51.

again, as we have seen before, just gets it to that point, that frame

:22:52.:23:00.

ball. And possibly remembering some of the other frames that have gone

:23:01.:23:04.

this way. It does stick in your mind.

:23:05.:23:11.

Judd Trump couldn't put that red. Ryan Day gets another chance. But he

:23:12.:23:24.

has missed the easy one. 59 points remaining. Red and a colour

:23:25.:23:27.

required. The added pressure on him now is he

:23:28.:23:51.

knows this frame should have been over.

:23:52.:23:55.

In it goes. But he has just overscrewed it slightly. 49 points

:23:56.:24:08.

in front, 51 remaining. Pot the green would be enough. But the

:24:09.:24:13.

screen is tricky. In it goes. 52 points in the lead.

:24:14.:24:38.

51 remaining. He will be breathing a sigh of relief.

:24:39.:24:53.

This is good stuff from Ryan Day. You do matches like this, you take

:24:54.:25:17.

each session as it comes along. This is a perfect start for him. Yes, he

:25:18.:25:25.

has come from a long line of great Welsh snooker players. Ray Reardon,

:25:26.:25:38.

Terry Griffiths, Doug Mountjoy. Fancy calling that quiz not

:25:39.:25:48.

Pointless, but Potless. The yellow did not go in.

:25:49.:26:05.

A quick reflection on events this afternoon on the match between the

:26:06.:26:13.

old Robertson and Mark Allen. The primary target was a win and a place

:26:14.:26:18.

in the quarterfinals, but there was a fascinating subplot. Neil

:26:19.:26:22.

Robertson is on 99 centuries for this season and tried to get to the

:26:23.:26:37.

town of tonnes. -- tonne of tonnes. Just the black to get. And it was in

:26:38.:26:43.

the jaws. He missed on 92 in the next frame so he will have to wait a

:26:44.:26:50.

bit longer. I had a pretty bad shot.

:26:51.:26:53.

I just rattled it. I actually thought it was in and was about to

:26:54.:27:01.

celebrate. I think it will happen naturally. I am on 90 -- 99 now, so

:27:02.:27:15.

there will be other opportunities. Mark Allen said he was awesome in

:27:16.:27:20.

that session. But the pressure is building on him.

:27:21.:27:26.

You could sense it. He was breathing deeper and deeper. It was incredible

:27:27.:27:34.

to witness. To what extent has it become a distraction? He has been

:27:35.:27:40.

focused on whether the frame has been won, but now there is something

:27:41.:27:45.

else in his mind. I think that is why he was disappointed, he would

:27:46.:27:52.

love to get that out of the way. But it will come. And he will play the

:27:53.:27:57.

winner of this match. Let's get back.

:27:58.:28:05.

Just a word on real Robertson, he played some good snooker this

:28:06.:28:15.

afternoon. -- Neil Robertson. It was impeccable, flawless. Neil Robertson

:28:16.:28:30.

looked in sublime form. He is waiting on the winner of this match.

:28:31.:28:37.

What a mouthwatering prospect we have in there. Butt to reach that

:28:38.:28:52.

milestone, 100 centuries in a single season, it is just amazing.

:28:53.:29:04.

To have someone striving to achieve his hundred century, it is quite

:29:05.:29:10.

special. He will be a little disappointed he

:29:11.:29:22.

did not win the last frame. Ryan Day through his chalk in the

:29:23.:29:37.

air and was really annoyed that he had left a long pot Judd Trump.

:29:38.:30:02.

I like this more measured approach from Judd Trump. He is giving his

:30:03.:30:09.

ability a chance. He just doesn't give his talent the opportunity it

:30:10.:30:15.

deserves. Do not criticise him for the shot he played in the first

:30:16.:30:19.

frame, that is the way he plays the game. At least he didn't bash it. He

:30:20.:30:25.

tries to play a controlled shot. Has he run too far? Looking at his body

:30:26.:30:31.

language, he has. That is not only a myth, but

:30:32.:31:18.

extremely careless from Ryan Day. He would be kicking himself. To lead

:31:19.:31:27.

this opportunity for Judd Trump... -- leave this opportunity.

:31:28.:31:36.

Not enough zip on the cue ball, as we say. It was like as if he thought

:31:37.:31:46.

he would be on the pink, so he didn't need to play it any harder.

:31:47.:31:52.

Now, he has got eight of blue to go out here. -- a tough blue.

:31:53.:32:07.

He was always going to leave something for Ryan Day if he missed

:32:08.:32:11.

that pot. A nice cannon red. Four. Shot it

:32:12.:32:48.

perfectly. He will not bother going into the

:32:49.:33:20.

packet, will concentrate on the red closest to the black. Did not

:33:21.:33:29.

disturb many red. Just one came out. Another good position here.

:33:30.:33:40.

If he is low on the black, he can play the cannon again, knowing that

:33:41.:33:47.

he would be low on that red. That has worked out OK. You can see

:33:48.:34:03.

the cue ball, look at the cue ball, when it hits the red, you can see

:34:04.:34:08.

the power that he can generate. An excellent opportunity now. This

:34:09.:34:24.

black will take him two points behind.

:34:25.:34:29.

He is OK, he certainly has got one to the left middle. I assume he can

:34:30.:34:39.

get past the pain. -- pink. That wasn't the best contact. That

:34:40.:35:19.

took all of the pace out of the cue ball. He wasn't bothered about the

:35:20.:35:21.

blue, because he can win these frames with remaining red. It is a

:35:22.:35:34.

little bit more difficult now. He can just about chip this read into

:35:35.:35:39.

the left-hand side pocket, but he needs to watch the cue ball. -- this

:35:40.:35:46.

red. The table is very, very quick. Sometimes there is a spring from the

:35:47.:35:49.

top cushion. Would you believe it! He has touched

:35:50.:36:05.

the blue with his waistcoat. Just as he played the shot, he summed a

:36:06.:36:11.

little bit lower. The referee was eagle eyed, he was looking for it.

:36:12.:36:23.

Do we see it move? The referee was in the perfect position. Ryan will

:36:24.:36:26.

not argue with it. He would not know, of course.

:36:27.:36:32.

Judd Trump comes to the table with a four point lead, but more

:36:33.:36:41.

importantly, he is back at the table unexpectedly.

:36:42.:37:07.

He has the option to play again, because Ryan played a foul shot, and

:37:08.:37:16.

that is what he's going to do. I do not think that is too difficult to

:37:17.:37:22.

safety shot. I think Judd Trump was a little bit worried that the red

:37:23.:37:25.

into the right-hand corner pocket, the natural anglers going into the

:37:26.:37:30.

black. The red above the pink spot to the bright, into the left-hand

:37:31.:37:35.

corner pocket, Judd thinks the natural anglers going into the red.

:37:36.:37:40.

-- angle is going. He hasn't left anything, he's such a

:37:41.:37:54.

long way away. He has been very fortunate.

:37:55.:38:02.

He would love to try to get the cue ball in behind the blue. He needs to

:38:03.:38:12.

be very wary if he goes to the baulk end. That is why he comes back to

:38:13.:38:17.

the top cushion, to try and get tied to the top cushion and use the black

:38:18.:38:26.

as a blocker. Not quite. I think he can maybe get the gap between pink

:38:27.:38:33.

and black" to the right middle, but tough shot.

:38:34.:38:45.

He caught it too thick, he missed contact in the yellow, so a safe

:38:46.:38:51.

enough. Even the black or the pink to come

:38:52.:39:27.

to his rescue. As it? -- has it? I'm sure he could come off the side

:39:28.:39:32.

cushion. That doesn't make the pot any easier.

:39:33.:39:47.

He is looking at an alternative. Surely he could play the cushion

:39:48.:39:52.

first. He cannot leave it there, surely. He may be forced into

:39:53.:40:02.

playing the cushion first. He is contemplating. He is doing his

:40:03.:40:06.

mathematics. He has a safe red on the left-hand side of the table.

:40:07.:40:11.

Should he missed this, that will come to his rescue, and that is what

:40:12.:40:15.

is going through his mind at the moment.

:40:16.:40:27.

If he was to miss this red, that red on the left-hand side of the table

:40:28.:40:36.

could be his saviour. He would pay the part, cushion first, you cannot

:40:37.:40:39.

play the red on the left-hand side of the table.

:40:40.:40:49.

He can get through to the cushion to part this red. -- pot this red.

:40:50.:41:10.

On a colour! What a great shot that was! Excellent shot! So hard to

:41:11.:41:26.

judge off the cushion. It wasn't as the red was over the pocket. That

:41:27.:41:38.

red that we spoke about, the one closest to the left-hand cushion,

:41:39.:41:45.

now, that has turned to a maybe. It may be a saviour for Judd Trump. He

:41:46.:41:53.

has got a nice angle on the black, if he wishes to try and take that

:41:54.:41:58.

red off the side cushion now. He doesn't have to.

:41:59.:42:08.

He wanted to be inside, he hit the wrong side of the red.

:42:09.:42:21.

Did that red to win the frame. You thought that was as good an

:42:22.:42:27.

opportunity as he may have. He misjudged.

:42:28.:42:40.

He thought that was in. I must admit, so did I! You could not get

:42:41.:42:49.

any closer to that without it going in. How many times did that rattle?

:42:50.:42:52.

Very unlucky. He has overhit it for the pink, he

:42:53.:43:22.

has under its bit for the green. -- underhit it for the green. Do you

:43:23.:43:28.

think the brown is possible into the right corner?

:43:29.:43:35.

I'm only thinking for a possible frame-winning clearance.

:43:36.:43:48.

I'm surprised he's not playing the pink. It is a natural angle.

:43:49.:44:24.

A good length and a good line and he has got the snooker. A very

:44:25.:44:34.

important speaker at this stage of the frame. -- important snooker.

:44:35.:44:52.

Excellent effort from Ryan Day. This red as possible, but it is not easy.

:44:53.:45:03.

-- is available. You always air on the side of if

:45:04.:45:18.

you're going to miss it, hit it too thin.

:45:19.:46:03.

You always need to beware of the double-kiss. I think he is really up

:46:04.:46:31.

for this tonight, Ryan. He got the first frame, if he could win this,

:46:32.:46:34.

he is right back in this match. That's what he was afraid of. An

:46:35.:47:03.

opportunity for Judd Trump. The yellow will be his first preference.

:47:04.:47:10.

He could play right-handed. He is good with the snooker rest. Doesn't

:47:11.:47:11.

have to do much with the cue ball. What a massive frame this is for

:47:12.:47:41.

both players. Showing a little bit of experience

:47:42.:48:00.

there. Applause from the other side of the arena, but you just got up

:48:01.:48:02.

and got his concentration back. Just the pink, to extend the gap

:48:03.:48:39.

once again to four frames. In it goes. He is back to four frames

:48:40.:48:49.

again in the lead by 11 frames to seven.

:48:50.:48:53.

A quick update from the other table, Murphy, 10-7 ahead after a break of

:48:54.:48:59.

69 and there in a battle royal with only four chorister meaning in the

:49:00.:49:07.

18th frame. Some are scraping in four Ryan Day.

:49:08.:49:17.

There was a time on that frame where Ryan caught that blue with his

:49:18.:49:22.

waistcoat. The worst thing that could happen is getting a

:49:23.:49:27.

double-kiss on the way back. You see this year, he sticks the red up and

:49:28.:49:32.

gives a good clearance for Judd Trump. He needs to when practically

:49:33.:49:39.

every frame of this tonight. That little cushion coming in, that four

:49:40.:49:45.

frame cushion coming in, from the perspective of the guy chasing, how

:49:46.:49:49.

does that affect your mindset, what you tried for? These three session

:49:50.:49:57.

matches, when you get to the third session, it is important that you

:49:58.:50:01.

have a bit of a cushion, but you are not under pressure like the guy that

:50:02.:50:09.

is always chasing. Consequently, they are making decisions that have

:50:10.:50:13.

led to some bad mistakes. He keeps missing frame balls. Back we go,

:50:14.:50:23.

Judd Trump is two frames away from a place in the quarterfinal.

:50:24.:50:37.

I think this red on the left-hand side of the table, can he see enough

:50:38.:50:46.

of it to play the pot? He played the safety and caught it much too thick.

:50:47.:50:52.

He is very disappointed, Ryan, not to have won the last frame. A bee

:50:53.:51:01.

that is a hangover from it. -- maybe it is.

:51:02.:51:20.

A nice little cannon to hold the red into the same pocket. We saw him

:51:21.:52:36.

looking up to the ceiling has he went around, because he knew he was

:52:37.:52:41.

looking up to the ceiling has he a little bit straight on this angle.

:52:42.:53:13.

The most you can hope for when you go into the cluster is it you have a

:53:14.:53:21.

red to continue the break with, and he has got that.

:53:22.:53:53.

Just having a quick glance to see if the pink is available into the right

:53:54.:54:02.

corner and it appears to be. A big chance this, now. A big angle. Lots

:54:03.:54:08.

of top spin on the cue ball. He did not get the desired spin on

:54:09.:54:25.

the cue ball. Not enough top spin on it. He wanted to try to bounce the

:54:26.:54:34.

cue ball through the pack of bread. Looks like end of break.

:54:35.:54:56.

Did not want to catch the blue, but unfortunate to knock it. Doesn't

:54:57.:55:05.

look like he has left anything easier for Ryan. Must win frame, you

:55:06.:55:11.

would think, from Ryan. The longer you can keep your opponent away from

:55:12.:55:18.

victory, you have a bit of room for manoeuvre, but when they get within

:55:19.:55:23.

one frame, you cannot afford any mistakes. Like that.

:55:24.:55:34.

This will obviously be called. It did not look that difficult a shot.

:55:35.:55:43.

Maybe Judd might decide to play it from there it is now. This red just

:55:44.:55:50.

above the pink, I think you can see enough of it to play the pot.

:55:51.:56:03.

With that type of shot, always a on the side of hitting it too thin.

:56:04.:56:32.

A decent safety shot from Ryan Day. Judge needs to be careful here. --

:56:33.:56:41.

Judd Trump. He has underhit that a long way, 42

:56:42.:57:00.

points behind, the chance of that red, you can see the value in

:57:01.:57:04.

playing for black or for pink. He prefers to stun them in from the

:57:05.:57:17.

side cushion. Oh, what a costly error that may

:57:18.:57:33.

prove to be. Just nudged that read on the top

:57:34.:57:45.

cushion. -- that red. This programme has come to an NT BBC

Two, this match will continue on the red button. The Marco Fu, Shaun

Murphy match is available online. The winner of that one will play

with the best bits of it all in highlights programme, but from
