Hello, a very good morning and welcome to the Crucible Theatre in

:00:35.:00:39.

Sheffield, another top day of snow go ahead at the 2014 Dafabet World

:00:40.:00:43.

Championship, --snooker ahead. Another big-name through to the last

:00:44.:00:50.

16. Last year's beaten semifinalist Ricky Walden made it through. This

:00:51.:00:54.

morning, the man who beat him in the semifinal last year, Barry Hawkins,

:00:55.:00:58.

looking to set up a place in the second round and another showdown

:00:59.:01:01.

with Ricky Walden. He takes on Dave Gilbert. But this morning, we are

:01:02.:01:04.

concentrating on Judd Trump. Judd Trump's technique is absolutely

:01:05.:01:17.

superb. I don't know what it is about left-handed players, they

:01:18.:01:20.

appear to get through the ball better than some players. He plays

:01:21.:01:25.

like only Jimmy White could play. When he is under pressure he tends

:01:26.:01:31.

to throw the old cue at it, and that is down to temperament. And Judd, if

:01:32.:01:35.

he works hard enough on it, we'll get him back to number one. I

:01:36.:01:40.

sometimes think he goes for that one shot too many, as a crowd-pleaser.

:01:41.:01:45.

You have to forget the crowd. I am in favour of people playing

:01:46.:01:49.

entertaining snooker, but don't press the boundaries too far and

:01:50.:01:53.

don't be true to yourself. There has was been a slight question mark over

:01:54.:01:57.

Judd Trump's dedication. We know he likes fast cars, going out late at

:01:58.:02:02.

night, and to be number one in the world and win consistently and be

:02:03.:02:05.

world champion, I think his dedication has to be a little

:02:06.:02:09.

better. He plays some of the most fantastic shots, one of the best

:02:10.:02:12.

part is I have ever seen, but occasionally his shot selection

:02:13.:02:17.

leaves a little bit to be desired. He could have been world champion in

:02:18.:02:21.

2011, he spent two minutes over a shot on the blue and the meek, took

:02:22.:02:26.

the wrong choice. When the pot, missed it, John Higgins one frame.

:02:27.:02:30.

Judd Trump would have been four frames ahead and would have been

:02:31.:02:35.

world champion. Why he hasn't won more tournaments could be down to

:02:36.:02:38.

shot selection, could be because he goes for that one shot too many. I

:02:39.:02:42.

think he needs to play better safety. That will create the

:02:43.:02:46.

chances. And if he does get the chances, we know how good he is and

:02:47.:02:50.

his record will improve. JASON MOHAMMED: And Judd Trump

:02:51.:02:58.

against Tom Ford is the live match this morning. They were pulled off

:02:59.:03:02.

yesterday after playing eight frames of the scheduled nine. On the other

:03:03.:03:07.

table, last year's beaten finalist Barry Hawkins leads Dave Gilbert,

:03:08.:03:11.

all very tight in that one. The players are standing by, good

:03:12.:03:15.

morning to Rob Walker. Good morning ladies and gentlemen. They priv will

:03:16.:03:20.

keep the dream alive for four more players -- day five. This morning,

:03:21.:03:24.

both games played to what we hope will be a dramatic conclusion.

:03:25.:03:45.

First of all, please welcome a player who has a habit of being

:03:46.:03:50.

inspired by the big stage here. Two years ago, he made the last 16,

:03:51.:03:56.

having been forced to regain his place on tour through cue School. He

:03:57.:04:00.

is still right in touch in this match and will believe he can win

:04:01.:04:06.

this game. He calls himself the angry farmer. Please welcome David

:04:07.:04:18.

Gilbert! MUSIC: "On A Ragga Tip".

:04:19.:04:25.

And his opponent, a player who has discovered the best form of his

:04:26.:04:31.

career since he turned 30. He stormed to the final here last year,

:04:32.:04:36.

having never previously been past the second round. Winner of the

:04:37.:04:38.

Australian open, snooker's shoot out and the players' championships, here

:04:39.:04:46.

comes the Hawk, Harry Hawkins. -- Barry Hawkins.

:04:47.:04:47.

MUSIC: "My Love" by Kele Le Roc. And here on table two, please

:04:48.:05:08.

welcome up their grazing the big stage for the second time. He built

:05:09.:05:11.

double Crucible finalist Matthew Stevens in the last round of

:05:12.:05:14.

qualifying, semifinalist in snooker's shoot shoot out and the

:05:15.:05:20.

PDC finals. Give it up for the man from Leicester, Tom Ford.

:05:21.:05:35.

And his opponent, the most exciting player of his generation. His bold

:05:36.:05:49.

attacking game has won him an army of fans over the last three years.

:05:50.:05:53.

World Championships runner-up, winner of three ranking titles,

:05:54.:05:58.

including the UK crown and this season, his first official 147 in

:05:59.:06:03.

Bristol. From Bristol, the ace in the pack, please welcome Judd Trump.

:06:04.:06:06.

MUSIC: "Animals" by Martin Garrix. Judd Trump on and Tom Ford, this is

:06:07.:06:40.

their first meeting since 2011. Good morning to Willie Thorne and a man

:06:41.:06:43.

already through to the second round, Ken Doherty. No practice this

:06:44.:06:49.

morning? The practice is on hold, I'm going to watch some snooker and

:06:50.:06:54.

try and learn something. It should be a fascinating second session

:06:55.:06:58.

between the man from Leicester, Tom Ford, one of the hot favourites for

:06:59.:07:03.

the tournament, Judd Trump. Always exciting to watch, Judd Trump,

:07:04.:07:09.

Willie. I was surprised these guys were taken off after only eight

:07:10.:07:13.

frames. You couldn't have got a bet on that. You would have thought it

:07:14.:07:19.

would have been the quickest of the first-round matches. That is a nice

:07:20.:07:25.

way to start. It was disappointing, the first session. Neither player

:07:26.:07:30.

got a grip of their game and job trump -- Judd Trump was giving Tom

:07:31.:07:36.

as many chances as he was Judd. Tom had unsettled, if you watched

:07:37.:07:41.

yesterday. He was struggling with his cue action. The highest break up

:07:42.:07:44.

the whole match was 62, Tom Ford only with 48. They are both very

:07:45.:07:47.

attacking players. Decided to take the brown arm, it

:07:48.:08:04.

was risky, but an excellent shot. A very difficult job.

:08:05.:08:11.

Can he get an angle? Not on the blue but maybe on the pink. The black

:08:12.:08:29.

It is certainly a lot easier to go into the pack from the pink, because

:08:30.:08:35.

the blue, if he went in from the blue, the pink is just that little

:08:36.:08:39.

bit away from the pack, it is not straightforward.

:08:40.:08:50.

An excellent camera angle there. The problem here is he has got to win

:08:51.:08:58.

the side of the pack -- hit the side of the pack. Anything other than

:08:59.:09:01.

full ball and he will not split the pack. He needs a lot of power, as

:09:02.:09:04.

well. He played it well, he went into the

:09:05.:09:14.

side of the pack. But he was never bringing many reds into play, was

:09:15.:09:22.

he? As you rightly say, the pink being of its spot. I thought he

:09:23.:09:25.

could have played that shot on the red and still been on the pink. He

:09:26.:09:32.

is slightly hampered with the cue. The pink will go into the middle but

:09:33.:09:36.

he needs left-hand side to get close to it. It looks like the only shot

:09:37.:09:42.

he can play. I wonder if he will take a chance and part the red,

:09:43.:09:48.

coming off the side cushion. -- pot the red. Maybe going into the pack.

:09:49.:09:55.

This is a possibility, try and hit it as hard as he can, come off the

:09:56.:10:02.

side of the pack and bring some reds into play and the cue ball up the

:10:03.:10:03.

table. Probably thought it was too

:10:04.:10:13.

difficult. He will probably try and bring the black into play here.

:10:14.:10:32.

Good effort, but unlucky. Still on the red, though.

:10:33.:10:59.

A bit aside from Tom when he potted the red, not a nice angle on the

:11:00.:11:04.

blue. -- of a sigh. Just couldn't generate enough speed

:11:05.:11:16.

on the cue ball. So end up That has been the story of this

:11:17.:11:42.

match so far. The highest break has only been 62 from Judd Trump. No

:11:43.:11:46.

photographs in the arena, please. Everybody talks about the

:11:47.:12:03.

first-round nerves and I just went into Tom's dressing room before the

:12:04.:12:07.

match started and he said he felt like the cue didn't belong to him,

:12:08.:12:10.

like he couldn't push it through at all and he was jabbing at

:12:11.:12:16.

everything. We said, just go out and enjoy yourselves, you could have one

:12:17.:12:21.

that session yesterday. And with the kisses and the flukes so far, things

:12:22.:12:25.

are going pretty well this morning! Excellent break-builder, Tom Ford.

:12:26.:12:41.

He has made a couple of maximums in tournament play, so he knows his way

:12:42.:12:45.

around a table. A little bit like Judd, his shot selection is

:12:46.:12:48.

sometimes reckless, but goodness me, he pots balls.

:12:49.:13:33.

That was an excellent shot, wasn't it? He played two shots in one, if

:13:34.:13:42.

he didn't get into the cue ball enough, he was going into the reds.

:13:43.:14:12.

He has got a red into the right centre. He has done all the hard

:14:13.:14:22.

work now, he is 45 points in front and faces a tricky red. So if he

:14:23.:14:24.

misses it, that lead can disappear. Very good, well done. Should win the

:14:25.:14:32.

frame now. Well, Willie's words of wisdom in

:14:33.:15:02.

the dressing room may have had some resonance with Tom Ford. He looks

:15:03.:15:06.

much more relaxed this morning than he did yesterday. When you are 6-2

:15:07.:15:13.

behind, OK, it is an uphill battle, but you can't freeze out there. You

:15:14.:15:16.

have to loosen up and have a go. Absolutely.

:15:17.:15:22.

Of course, you get a couple of frames on the board and a lot can

:15:23.:15:30.

happen, coming into this first mini-session. If you set a target of

:15:31.:15:33.

winning three of the first four frames, he is well back in the

:15:34.:15:41.

match. I think the good thing for Tom yesterday was getting taken off

:15:42.:15:44.

a frame early, because the way things were going, it would have

:15:45.:15:49.

been 7-2. A little bit more time than normal, having only played

:15:50.:15:53.

eight frames. All of the frames will be played in this session, if there

:15:54.:16:00.

is time. A little bit fortunate with the first red, and one thing, but

:16:01.:16:05.

apart from that, he has hit every ball beautifully. Cueing beautifully

:16:06.:16:08.

this morning. Judd Trump says he is not going to

:16:09.:16:44.

come to the table. A nice 57 break from Tom Ford gives him the opening

:16:45.:16:48.

frame. It cuts the deficit, he is only three behind, Judd Trump leads

:16:49.:16:55.

6-3. It all started with a lovely fluke and you need better to settle

:16:56.:16:59.

your nerve. We can show you this now. He is playing along pot in the

:17:00.:17:04.

corner, trying to get a good cue ball at the same time. Catches the

:17:05.:17:09.

jaws, not a bad effort, but look at the kiss on the red. The white

:17:10.:17:16.

almost caught it up. He didn't win the frame at that visit, but the

:17:17.:17:20.

next time, playing for a baulk colour, not any kind of kiss, but

:17:21.:17:24.

these are the kind of things you need to happen when you are in a

:17:25.:17:27.

tight match. Look at those two cases. Kisses.

:17:28.:17:36.

I have known Tom since he was ten, he is to come -- used to come in a

:17:37.:17:46.

club with his parents. Write a little cheeky monkey he was. My late

:17:47.:17:52.

mother used to take him under her wing -- a right little cheeky

:17:53.:17:56.

monkey, he was. Yes, a lovely lad on the circuit. Sir Tom Ford will be

:17:57.:18:03.

feeling a little bit better with his morning's work so far.

:18:04.:18:31.

Hasn't had a chance, Judd Trump, in the opening exchanges.

:18:32.:18:41.

They are the type of pots that he likes to go for, Judd Trump

:18:42.:18:47.

specials, we sometimes call them, but he was a long way away from that

:18:48.:18:53.

one and he has gifted Tom Ford and other easy opportunity, with plenty

:18:54.:18:54.

of reds in the open. That is a wonderful statistic to

:18:55.:19:11.

have, 100% success at the long pot attempts.

:19:12.:19:29.

Pot the red, nice angle on the blue and try and get down and take some

:19:30.:19:34.

of these reds in and around the black spot.

:19:35.:19:47.

We have done well in Leicester, as far as snooker is concerned. Mark

:19:48.:19:58.

Selby, Tom Ford, several others, all played at my club in Leicester. We

:19:59.:20:01.

are very lucky with the amount of talent we have had at the club. Tom

:20:02.:20:03.

is one of the best. A little bit too hard. A touch of

:20:04.:20:51.

right-hand side, just to kiss the red nearest the cue ball. A little

:20:52.:20:57.

hair on the ball. Even the referees can get a little bit nervous when

:20:58.:21:02.

they come to the Crucible. I sought Michaela in the players' room

:21:03.:21:15.

getting a Lucozade. She suddenly so I was watching, bad move, her secret

:21:16.:21:16.

wasn't safe. -- saw I was. Played an excellent cannon. Just

:21:17.:21:32.

gone astray, the cue ball. He knows this is a great chance to

:21:33.:21:39.

get right back into the match. Ken has put that line-up, he will do

:21:40.:21:53.

well to hold it. That is unlucky. He played that as well as he could have

:21:54.:21:58.

done. Any harder, he couldn't get the case. All of a sudden it was

:21:59.:22:03.

perfect, then it's just travelled an extra inch. And no shot on.

:22:04.:22:37.

He would obviously like to run off the red he is closest to and get the

:22:38.:22:42.

white in baulk. He needs the cue ball to slow down.

:22:43.:22:53.

And it is pretty good. Excellent shot.

:22:54.:24:43.

Couldn't do a lot there with the safety. It is a negative safety shot

:24:44.:24:49.

and he knows he is possibly going to put himself in trouble, but he

:24:50.:24:53.

needed to find the cushion. There is a gap, the red to the left of the

:24:54.:24:57.

pink, two away from the pink, will pot.

:24:58.:25:05.

He has not settled yet, Judd. Not yet had an easy opportunity, to be

:25:06.:25:10.

fair. There is a little bit of room around

:25:11.:25:53.

the black. He has just not settled at all. What his he thinking of at

:25:54.:25:57.

the minute? He probably feels like Tom did yesterday.

:25:58.:26:20.

He has got the red into the right centre, and also the one to the left

:26:21.:26:27.

of the pink. He can pot that and screw back and possibly bring the

:26:28.:26:31.

pink into play. He will still be on the blue if the pink didn't come

:26:32.:26:35.

away from the cluster. But it is a lovely angle on that red just to the

:26:36.:26:37.

left of the pink. He tried to bring the pink into play

:26:38.:26:53.

and stay on the black. And it is not too bad. The black angle is a bit

:26:54.:26:58.

acute, but he can just drop it in, dead weight.

:26:59.:27:04.

It is there, and now an excellent opportunity for Tom Ford. Already 42

:27:05.:27:08.

points in the lead. I know he has been helped by some of

:27:09.:27:27.

Judd Trump's misses, but he's looking very relaxed today. Cueing

:27:28.:27:29.

nice and smoothly. Both players said to the press that

:27:30.:27:43.

there was plenty of kicks out there. That seemed to be a cake. --

:27:44.:27:50.

kick. I think sometimes if you are not cueing well, you can make your

:27:51.:27:52.

own kick. You can tell it wasn't a clean

:27:53.:27:57.

strike. That is not the best shot he has

:27:58.:28:10.

played. Wanted to be straight on this red so he could push it through

:28:11.:28:13.

for the black in the opposite corner. He may be straight on this

:28:14.:28:16.

red so he could push it through for the black in the opposite corner. He

:28:17.:28:27.

it all looks pretty easy for Tom at the moment, he's cueing very nicely.

:28:28.:28:44.

I think if he is worried about the pink not being available, he can go

:28:45.:28:55.

for the red in the middle. Until you are absolutely sure, just play for

:28:56.:28:57.

the red in the middle. Decided to play for the middle red

:28:58.:29:10.

of those three behind the pink spot. Red and colour, and he will have won

:29:11.:29:13.

the opening two frames and will have closed to within two.

:29:14.:29:53.

A little bit careless there. Judd has decided not to have a better

:29:54.:30:02.

practice, so Tom Ford, an opening break of 57 and a couple of 30s in

:30:03.:30:09.

that frame. 6-4. If you haven't had a shot, a little bit of cue time,

:30:10.:30:14.

would you have had ten minutes there? He had a couple of easy

:30:15.:30:19.

opportunities and I would try to get Mike cue I'm going, no doubt. He

:30:20.:30:27.

looks a bit tired, doesn't he? It is good to get your cue I'm going, just

:30:28.:30:37.

get the pace of the table. -- cue arm. A couple of very bad misses,

:30:38.:30:44.

particularly long pots, he was quite a long way away. You don't mind

:30:45.:30:47.

missing them but certainly the margin would be of concern, no

:30:48.:30:49.

doubt. Not the best break off. He's got to

:30:50.:31:16.

play it a bit more powerfully to go round the back of the black.

:31:17.:31:24.

Very hard to generate the spin to get round. Is the pink on? That

:31:25.:31:37.

would be a bonus. I'm not sure he knew that was available.

:31:38.:31:47.

In the entire match he's only had ten long pots and potted everyone.

:31:48.:32:09.

Two inches up and he could have potted the pink and brought reds

:32:10.:32:13.

into the table. He left the cue ball at a nice angle

:32:14.:32:28.

to put this red into the corner pocket and come off the side of the

:32:29.:32:30.

park. Perfect shot. Perfectly on the blue.

:32:31.:32:35.

APPLAUSE He could have hit that as hard as he

:32:36.:33:03.

liked because the pace was taken out of it by the bunch of reds and it's

:33:04.:33:06.

worked out beautifully for him. With the angle he's got on the blue

:33:07.:33:23.

he could play a stun run through and try to get to that read just above

:33:24.:33:28.

the pink. If he hit it badly, even if he rests on the red that's in the

:33:29.:33:36.

middle of the table on the left-hand side...

:33:37.:33:46.

As I was saying, he could stun off the cushion and even if he rests on

:33:47.:33:52.

that red, he will still have the red down the cushion. Otherwise he would

:33:53.:33:57.

be on the one in the corner. He does have that angle on the blue. He

:33:58.:34:02.

needs to get close because he needs pink and black in play very quickly.

:34:03.:34:12.

He didn't play that shot. He played with bottom for a loose red.

:34:13.:34:24.

APPLAUSE Where does the black go when it's

:34:25.:34:35.

potted? That's the problem for Tom. It could go directly behind the pink

:34:36.:34:38.

and then the black would still be available.

:34:39.:34:45.

He's just having a closer look. Looks like the pink is almost on the

:34:46.:34:55.

black spot, which means the black will go directly behind it which

:34:56.:34:58.

should make it available. It's almost in line. The black will still

:34:59.:35:02.

pot. That's what Tom has worked out. The

:35:03.:35:15.

pink spot was not available so the black will go directly behind the

:35:16.:35:19.

pink but it should still be pottable into the left-hand corner pocket.

:35:20.:35:23.

That's why he left the angle on the red into the bottom right-hand

:35:24.:35:27.

corner. Nice angle to put it back on for the black.

:35:28.:35:33.

REFEREE: There is an earpiece or two that is too loud so please adjust

:35:34.:35:34.

the volume. He wants to finish lower on the

:35:35.:35:41.

black. He would like to finish anywhere on

:35:42.:35:57.

the line of that cue ball and just nudged the pink away. A bit pacey to

:35:58.:36:00.

get the pink well a way. He risked playing it hard to get

:36:01.:36:31.

that pink away. Not on the desired red but one more good positional

:36:32.:36:34.

shot and you'd fancy him winning the frame.

:36:35.:36:41.

He's cursing his luck a little there. The red isn't hampered. He

:36:42.:36:50.

has a nice easy shot for the black but it makes the red a bit more

:36:51.:36:52.

tricky. The pink popped into the bottom

:36:53.:37:20.

right-hand corner. A nice little cannon onto the three

:37:21.:37:46.

reds. He could have hit that with a lot more pace. He was very tentative

:37:47.:37:50.

on that. I don't know why because the cue ball wasn't going to go

:37:51.:37:52.

anywhere. Those laces are a bit long! He had

:37:53.:38:14.

to tuck them in! There is no reason to play them that slowly. I don't

:38:15.:38:18.

think he can get to the black here unless he runs almost through the

:38:19.:38:19.

jaws of the pocket. APPLAUSE

:38:20.:38:31.

Is he on it? Wow, he's done well there. Whenever you're cueing down

:38:32.:38:38.

over a ball, usually the white bounces. That bounced just took that

:38:39.:38:45.

inch of pace out of the cue ball. What a chance this is now for the

:38:46.:38:49.

first three frames of the morning and to close within just one.

:38:50.:39:28.

That was the first pressure shot he had to play and he'll be very

:39:29.:39:35.

disappointed. Not to let anything straightforward for Judd, though. --

:39:36.:39:39.

not left anything. Almost 32 minutes since Judd Trump

:39:40.:39:57.

last potted a ball and this could have been much easier. Tom Ford very

:39:58.:39:59.

fortunate. Yeah, it was difficult. Wasn't easy,

:40:00.:40:09.

that shot. I'm sure if the blue wasn't there,

:40:10.:40:20.

he would have potted that red. Tom is certainly having the rub of

:40:21.:40:37.

the green so far this morning. At the moment, he's taking advantage of

:40:38.:40:38.

it. A bit of pressure on this pot. Has he got away with it this time? I

:40:39.:40:58.

don't think so. Red on the pink spot goes into the left centre. The first

:40:59.:41:00.

long pot he's missed, Ken. Well, if anything needs to give a

:41:01.:41:27.

player confidence, it is your opponent missing. At the moment,

:41:28.:41:29.

Judd is missing everything. That's not good enough, really, for

:41:30.:41:46.

either player. You have to have 90% at this standard to get a guarantee

:41:47.:41:50.

of winning a match or getting close to winning a match. Anything above

:41:51.:41:54.

90, you're looking very close to winning. All of a sudden, Tom is

:41:55.:42:00.

seen he's got Judd on the rack a little bit and is getting a little

:42:01.:42:02.

bit anxious. Yeah, but still hasn't left anything

:42:03.:42:18.

easy. It's almost 34 minutes now since his last pot. He's got a

:42:19.:42:24.

straightforward snooker here, stun the red up as tight as possible.

:42:25.:42:33.

Dogear Tee There is a possibility of an escape here. He's got to try and

:42:34.:42:57.

rest on the red where his Q-Tip is. If he can rest on that, it may be

:42:58.:43:08.

OK. Not leaving anything easy for Judge Trump, that's for sure.

:43:09.:43:19.

REFEREE: Foul and a miss. He should have had one more Weetabix this

:43:20.:43:30.

morning and he might have reached that.

:43:31.:43:38.

Very healthy, Ken, eating that cereal. I am a toast and peanut

:43:39.:43:43.

butter man! Well done. Excellent.

:43:44.:43:51.

APPLAUSE To be honest, Ken, how many times

:43:52.:44:50.

would you pot that out of ten? Maybe one.

:44:51.:44:58.

There was a bit of panic attached to that shot, wasn't there? He hasn't

:44:59.:45:07.

potted a ball for almost 40 minutes. Still, should be a bit more patient.

:45:08.:45:13.

Tom hasn't capitalised on it. It is poor. He'll be disappointed. He

:45:14.:45:17.

knows he has Judd Trump on the rack at the moment.

:45:18.:45:30.

At the moment, quite worrying for Judd Trump and his fans. He looks

:45:31.:45:34.

quite at sea at the moment. I can't believe he's not just

:45:35.:45:50.

rolling up to the green and risking Judd leaving him a smoker.

:45:51.:45:54.

Just over four hours of play in this match now.

:45:55.:46:20.

You would expect it to be quite quick but it's been slow enough.

:46:21.:46:31.

Between these two very fast players, quick scores, the frame time tends

:46:32.:46:35.

to be considerably less. He's not only missing, Willie, but

:46:36.:46:42.

he's missing by quite some margin. Tom went to be too displeased to see

:46:43.:46:57.

that red going right to the top of the baulk ocean. The red in the

:46:58.:47:03.

middle must be dead straight otherwise you would just get down

:47:04.:47:04.

and roll it in. Well done. Good shot.

:47:05.:47:19.

APPLAUSE Excellent shot.

:47:20.:47:30.

APPLAUSE This is certainly not what the crowd

:47:31.:48:18.

were expecting this morning. Trump hasn't potted one ball yet since he

:48:19.:48:24.

started to play this morning. That is quite a concern for him. He needs

:48:25.:48:26.

to get going very quickly. Not the easiest of pots to play to

:48:27.:48:44.

guarantee winning a frame. Well done.

:48:45.:48:54.

Black available so just one more red needed.

:48:55.:49:02.

A lot of viewers haven't seen much of Tom on the TV but he is a very

:49:03.:50:04.

good player. He beat Matthew Stevens in the last

:50:05.:50:13.

qualifying round and you have to be good to beat him.

:50:14.:50:51.

A different Tom Ford we are seeing today than yesterday. I spoke to

:50:52.:50:57.

Mark Selby earlier and he said Tom was very nervous yesterday. This is

:50:58.:51:06.

more like what he can do. He is floating around the table at the

:51:07.:51:07.

moment, enjoying it. Relaxed cueing. APPLAUSE

:51:08.:51:18.

A little exhibition shot. APPLAUSE

:51:19.:51:33.

A beautiful break of 65 for Tom Ford. He is feeling an awful lot

:51:34.:51:39.

more comfortable out there now and his water is tasting nicer as well!

:51:40.:51:51.

He trails Judd Trump 5-6 now. A lot of misses from Judd Trump. Nothing

:51:52.:51:56.

easy, though. We have a compilation of some of the misses he's played

:51:57.:52:00.

and none of them have been easy. You may say this is reckless but to get

:52:01.:52:03.

the case into the reds was unfortunate. He's not even getting

:52:04.:52:12.

close to the jaws at the moment. He is missing them by inches. He's

:52:13.:52:20.

missing them by a long way. This wasn't as easy.

:52:21.:52:26.

That was a very strange shot to take on.

:52:27.:52:34.

The signature shots that we would be used to seeing Judd Trump not in,

:52:35.:52:42.

those long pot, he is very accomplished that but he is missing

:52:43.:52:47.

them by some way. Ill at ease with himself at the moment and needs to

:52:48.:52:50.

get a frame on the board very quickly and start porting some

:52:51.:52:55.

balls. Tom is not killing the frames off in one visit but he is scoring

:52:56.:52:58.

very, very heavily with two frames above 50.

:52:59.:53:05.

One more frame before the mid-session interval and every

:53:06.:53:09.

chance Tom could level. Another of Judd Trump's specials. I

:53:10.:53:29.

expect him to get this. Goodness me! He's played to stop that on the

:53:30.:53:38.

black into the left-hand pocket. He's trying to stop it just there

:53:39.:53:42.

and it went on another 3/4-macro feet. Just not getting through the

:53:43.:53:45.

ball at all at the moment. I know who will be in the practice

:53:46.:54:04.

room on the interval. You can be sure about that. He decelerated into

:54:05.:54:11.

it a little bit and that's why he didn't get any stop on the cue ball

:54:12.:54:17.

whatsoever. That's worrying. From Tom's point of view, he will sense

:54:18.:54:22.

weakness in Judd Trump's game. He's got to be a bit more com posed and

:54:23.:54:25.

patient because he knows he's going to get chances. With his opponent

:54:26.:54:30.

under pressure, he's got to try and keep it that way. He doesn't want to

:54:31.:54:33.

give Judd Trump any opportunity. He could play this red sheer with

:54:34.:54:52.

the rest and get the cue ball somewhere near where his waistcoat

:54:53.:54:55.

is as long as he misses the kiss on the yellow.

:54:56.:55:09.

Tom's and not the tallest. I wonder whether he's going to need

:55:10.:55:15.

scaffolding to this! Decided he's not going to attempt that one. A

:55:16.:55:19.

stepladder would be handy! That's so careless, Ken, isn't it?

:55:20.:55:47.

About as bad a safety shot as he could have played there. Why not

:55:48.:55:52.

just rest on the red at this end of the table? No need to risk anything

:55:53.:55:58.

careless. Well, Judd, another chance to get a pot, your first of the day.

:55:59.:56:14.

It's just not happening at the moment.

:56:15.:56:23.

The good thing for Judd is that there's going to be an interval

:56:24.:56:29.

after this because he is unlucky at the moment. It will do him a favour,

:56:30.:56:31.

having that 15 minute break. He may have played that quite

:56:32.:56:56.

nicely, really, in the way that he wasn't going to leave anything easy

:56:57.:56:57.

for Judd. This may have run a fraction too

:56:58.:58:41.

far. The red is on but he will can then

:58:42.:59:19.

into the black so he won't play that red. -- can then into.

:59:20.:59:44.

Goodness me! It was nearer to me in the commentary box, that one!

:59:45.:00:34.

Just over 50 minutes, Judd Trump finally off the launch pad. And it

:00:35.:00:49.

wasn't the easiest read by the delete red to play. He played quite

:00:50.:00:54.

slowly. -- it wasn't the easiest red to play.

:00:55.:01:03.

No matter how good a player you are, you have got to play safety

:01:04.:01:42.

properly. And at this stage, playing an aggressive safety shot is not the

:01:43.:01:45.

way forward. A thin safety shot would have been better there.

:01:46.:02:00.

Ken, a very aggressive safety shot to play that thick, wasn't it? It

:02:01.:02:08.

certainly was. You really need to play those as thin as possible and

:02:09.:02:13.

not bring any reds out into the open. Try and keep it at a minimum.

:02:14.:02:27.

Straightforward pot but not straightforward position. He has

:02:28.:02:32.

played it with a lot of left-hand side to straighten up the cue ball

:02:33.:02:37.

and bat has worked out OK. He has got a virtually straight blue into

:02:38.:02:43.

the same pocket as the red. Then it is a case of running through for a

:02:44.:02:47.

couple of reds, below the pink and just to the left of it.

:02:48.:02:53.

But to win this frame, he needs that black back on its spot.

:02:54.:03:08.

He will try and get back on it maybe after this red. The bottom red does

:03:09.:03:17.

pot and then just stone down and go for the black -- stun down.

:03:18.:03:43.

If this goes in, there is every chance it could be 6-6, but it is a

:03:44.:03:48.

very tough pot. He played it very, very well, and

:03:49.:04:02.

very confidently. He didn't drop it in, didn't quit on it. Nicely on

:04:03.:04:08.

this red as well into the same pocket.

:04:09.:04:10.

A little bit straight on the one he is closest to but he has the

:04:11.:04:17.

insurance of the one closest to the pocket. Excellent opportunity now

:04:18.:04:18.

for Tom Ford. These are the opportunities, if he

:04:19.:04:31.

has the ambition to beat Judd Trump, this is where he really has

:04:32.:04:35.

two capitalised. He has Judd Trump on the rack. -- has to capitalise.

:04:36.:04:55.

When he runs through, he will be hampered on the two reds to the left

:04:56.:05:01.

of the black. He doesn't want to end up over the top of them.

:05:02.:05:11.

He will be slightly cueing over this red as well.

:05:12.:05:19.

It is always missable. Needs to be straight again. Not quite.

:05:20.:05:41.

If he can screw back and not go in ov, he might play for the blue,

:05:42.:05:46.

because he has got the same problem.

:05:47.:06:28.

Just never got on a red right there, did he? Three chances to get on a

:06:29.:06:35.

straight red and every time, he left an angle. Yes, has Heathrow and Judd

:06:36.:06:44.

Trump a lifeline here? Attack has Heathrow. It is OK, it is not too

:06:45.:06:46.

bad. The red just below the pink pot has

:06:47.:07:15.

-- as well. He may be able to bring the pink into play.

:07:16.:07:26.

He really needs to make something of this opportunity, Judd.

:07:27.:07:36.

The red above the pink make pot into the right centre. You may elect to

:07:37.:07:42.

go for that. He has judged that perfectly. And

:07:43.:07:55.

this will certainly help his cause when he pops this red.

:07:56.:08:29.

Still six points behind, but the pleasing thing for Judd Trump and

:08:30.:08:36.

his supporters is he is getting his cueing arm going now.

:08:37.:08:51.

He wanted a bit more of an angle on the pink so he could get closer to

:08:52.:08:56.

these reds. He is going to have to just drop the pink in. He should put

:08:57.:09:05.

this red but I'm not sure whether he will take the opportunity to try and

:09:06.:09:07.

bring the red above this into play. Being a left-hander, the reds on

:09:08.:09:25.

that side of the table, it doesn't cause too much of a problem.

:09:26.:10:03.

That was a nice shot, screwing into the red and bringing that into play.

:10:04.:10:15.

And still being on the pink and the blue.

:10:16.:10:23.

He has missed it. Well, he has felt he got a heavy contact. Let's have a

:10:24.:10:39.

look. Yes, it looks like the blue straighten up. That is unfortunate.

:10:40.:10:55.

Whichever way Tom pops this, he will not get ideal position unless he

:10:56.:10:58.

plays for the yellow. -- pots. The blue... It is very difficult to

:10:59.:11:41.

judge, because if he hits this blue he has to judge it off the side

:11:42.:11:44.

cushion onto the top cushion and we know how quick these tables are. A

:11:45.:11:51.

little bit unlucky, if he misses the cannon, he is on the red to the

:11:52.:11:58.

middle. He would loved to have put it where you said, but he couldn't

:11:59.:12:02.

get it quick enough. It was clever, but unfortunately it has not worked.

:12:03.:12:06.

But he is back in the frame, every chance to get in between green and

:12:07.:12:09.

brown here. Played it the other way around. I am

:12:10.:12:36.

surprised, it looked on, that safety. Yes, it looked pretty

:12:37.:12:44.

straightforward, he thought he could get tight enough behind the black.

:12:45.:12:48.

Had he have done, it would have been a very difficult snooker to get out

:12:49.:12:56.

of. As it turns out... Well, does he take this pot on, the red into the

:12:57.:13:01.

yellow pocket? Very, very difficult. He may attempt a cross double. The

:13:02.:13:08.

red that is close to the left centre pocket. Again, very, very tricky.

:13:09.:14:00.

Does he have an angle on the yellow? If he does, he will take the pot on

:14:01.:14:07.

and move down for the red. He has a nice angle, he can get very

:14:08.:14:12.

close to this red. I don't think the green will pot,

:14:13.:14:34.

not sure from the commentary position. But this is an excellent

:14:35.:14:37.

opportunity to screw back for the blue. Bit more difficult using the

:14:38.:14:41.

rest. Just needed to be two or three

:14:42.:15:00.

inches further back and he wouldn't have needed the rest.

:15:01.:15:12.

He is not at the races, is he? Just not at the races at the moment. What

:15:13.:15:23.

an opportunity. Tom Ford can win the opening four frames.

:15:24.:15:36.

Well, Tom, that was your opportunity. Will you get another in

:15:37.:15:44.

this frame? What a massive frame this is. In the context of the whole

:15:45.:15:51.

match, this is huge. Judd just having a look to see if the green

:15:52.:15:53.

pots. It is very, very tight. There you see it. Well, I think it

:15:54.:16:09.

does pot, with a bit of left-hand side.

:16:10.:16:26.

He is unsure of it. And if it doesn't pot, he is going to need an

:16:27.:16:34.

angle for the yellow. Such a margin for error, it is very

:16:35.:16:41.

disappointing for Judd Trump. He had a chance here are playing it

:16:42.:18:16.

very thin and getting the white up the table. But that is as good as

:18:17.:18:19.

anything. If he puts this, good luck to him. -- pots.

:18:20.:19:21.

Might be worth having a little pop at this yellow, because he knows he

:19:22.:19:27.

is guaranteed to get the snooker if it doesn't go in. If there -- not,

:19:28.:19:40.

there is every chance the cue ball could go between... It is a little

:19:41.:19:43.

too thin to get in behind green and brown.

:19:44.:19:49.

Maybe it wasn't. Look where the white has gone.

:19:50.:20:31.

Disappointed with the safety. They have both had a good look at this

:20:32.:20:41.

green and it must be very close to being pottable. The angle he has got

:20:42.:20:46.

on the yellow is OK, he can come past the blue and get on the green,

:20:47.:20:48.

if it pops. -- pots. Looks pretty good safety shot. Not

:20:49.:21:47.

too sure it is easy to get this sake. -- safe. He really doesn't

:21:48.:21:58.

want to bring the pink into play. He has an 8-point lead, if Tom Ford

:21:59.:22:01.

gets a chance, he will need the pink to win this frame.

:22:02.:22:12.

It is an easy hit on the green, but the problem is trying to keep it

:22:13.:22:30.

safe. He has played it well. Excellent shot. Just got the outside

:22:31.:22:33.

edge. With the pink coming slightly off

:22:34.:22:48.

the cushion, you would suggest whoever puts the green has a pretty

:22:49.:22:50.

good chance of winning the frame. This is the chance for Tom Ford to

:22:51.:23:39.

get all square. He can just stun down on this for

:23:40.:23:57.

the blue in the middle. This Tom apologises for his good fortune,

:23:58.:24:34.

but that was the pot that got away. He should be happy with himself, not

:24:35.:24:46.

depressed. Did this leave the brand for the right centre -- the brown?

:24:47.:24:48.

It might be worth the risk. He has overcut it. Hitting the

:24:49.:25:03.

local, he has left the brown in play. If he misses the knuckle, you

:25:04.:25:10.

can't pot the brown. What an opportunity for Tom Ford, brown over

:25:11.:25:15.

the middle, blue over them corner -- the corner.

:25:16.:25:31.

I am sure he can play one cushion to get onto the pink. Decided to play

:25:32.:25:42.

it off three. It looks easy but it is a half ball cut into a blind

:25:43.:25:45.

pocket. From this angle, it is tough. Tom

:25:46.:26:00.

knows the importance of this frame and it is getting to him.

:26:01.:26:08.

It is getting tense. This would be some shot to get on the black.

:26:09.:26:17.

The line is good. It needs to run. It is running. What are shot. --

:26:18.:26:30.

what a shot. Judd Trump has missed a lot of pots, but he may not play a

:26:31.:26:34.

better pot than that in this championship. It is there. What a

:26:35.:26:42.

shot from Judd Trump. He gets out of jail. Tom sits in his chair, he is

:26:43.:26:46.

very, very disappointed, but it is Judd Trump who takes the lead, 7-5,

:26:47.:26:55.

over Tom Ford, as they go into the session. Tom Ford kicking himself

:26:56.:26:58.

after missing that, but what a great shot from Judd Trump on the pink,

:26:59.:27:03.

that is a very important frame for Judd Trump. The players are running

:27:04.:27:07.

mid-session interval and the winner of the match plays Wales' Ryan Day

:27:08.:27:12.

in the second round. We will now turn our attention to events on

:27:13.:27:16.

table one. Last year's runner-up Barry Hawkins, celebrating his

:27:17.:27:19.

birthday today, taking on world number 31 Dave Gilbert. I am

:27:20.:27:27.

treating it as a job now, whereas I perhaps wasn't then. I was more

:27:28.:27:33.

part-time. Now I don't do anything else but play snooker. So it is

:27:34.:27:37.

definitely a full-time job. I am too busy to do anything else, really.

:27:38.:27:43.

Practising hard. I think my temperament has improved a little

:27:44.:27:47.

bit. There is still plenty to work on but, all of these tournaments we

:27:48.:27:52.

have now, you have to treated professionally and I am trying to

:27:53.:27:57.

get better with it as we go. Every match plays the balls, so you have

:27:58.:28:01.

to dig in, even if you are not feeling it, try your best in every

:28:02.:28:06.

game. I feel fresh and ready and, like I say, I have been practising

:28:07.:28:10.

really hard and I am ready to go. I don't know what will happen until I

:28:11.:28:14.

walk out there. I hope I can get a frame on board early, chill out and

:28:15.:28:19.

just enjoy it. If I play well, I feel like I can certainly win.

:28:20.:28:23.

People say I have nothing to lose but I certainly have. I am not here

:28:24.:28:28.

for a day out, I am here to try and win as many matches as I can. It is

:28:29.:28:32.

a massive challenge, he has got the final, he won the last tournament he

:28:33.:28:37.

played in, the PTC and I am sure he is as excited as me to be back,

:28:38.:28:41.

after the run last year. I will be proud, as I am in every match I play

:28:42.:28:46.

here and it doesn't faze me, I am looking forward to it. Barry Hawkins

:28:47.:28:51.

had a very slender lead over Dave Gilbert after yesterday's first

:28:52.:28:56.

session, Hawkins leading 5-4. We will show you what happened in frame

:28:57.:29:00.

ten, Gilbert is at the table, leading 19-3.

:29:01.:29:10.

JOHN VIRGO: He has not woken up yet. More concerned with trying to find

:29:11.:29:19.

the path of the cue ball, forgot about the pot.

:29:20.:29:25.

So this is playing right into Barry Hawkins' hands.

:29:26.:29:43.

Sometimes it's quite tricky to get decent position but that wasn't bad.

:29:44.:30:21.

The first frame of any session is always very important.

:30:22.:30:44.

The fact he's having a look round must mean he's come very straight on

:30:45.:30:47.

this pink. But he was just able to screw back

:30:48.:31:01.

and inch and lay it on to the right middle and play the pink for the

:31:02.:31:02.

left-centre. He certainly came of age last season

:31:03.:31:15.

when he reached the final of the World Championship. He lost out to

:31:16.:31:19.

Ronnie O'Sullivan but at one time, he looked as though he was going to

:31:20.:31:23.

be run over by Bonnie but he's stuck in there. There were times when you

:31:24.:31:32.

felt that he was maybe going to turn the match around.

:31:33.:31:38.

He finished up losing the final 18-12. He's become one of the more

:31:39.:31:49.

consistent and solid players on the circuit. He's up in the heady ranks

:31:50.:31:54.

of number four in the world now. Without a doubt over the last two or

:31:55.:32:05.

three seasons, one of the most improved players in the game. From

:32:06.:32:11.

being a player that used to hover around the top 16, as you say, now

:32:12.:32:15.

firmly established as one of the best players in the game.

:32:16.:32:27.

I've always said... I mean, not obviously, all the players who come

:32:28.:32:34.

in and get through to the Crucible Theatre, nobody doubts their

:32:35.:32:38.

ability. It's just about temperament, really. Can you do it

:32:39.:32:43.

on the big stage? Can you hold yourself together when it really

:32:44.:32:47.

matters? Barry's proved that and he's proved it to himself and that's

:32:48.:32:51.

why he's a very, very tough competitor.

:32:52.:33:36.

That was all he could do now. A slightly tricky pink. Didn't have to

:33:37.:33:45.

do a lot with the cue ball. That helps.

:33:46.:34:06.

33 points, the lead. Two reds, two colours would see him home in this

:34:07.:34:11.

first frame. And you could say a bonus,

:34:12.:34:23.

particularly with the three good opportunities that David Gilbert

:34:24.:34:24.

had. He's just having to sit and suffer.

:34:25.:34:42.

He knows he's had three opportunities that could, and maybe

:34:43.:34:46.

should, have won him his first frame, an important first frame,

:34:47.:34:50.

particularly as he started one frame behind. So if he wanted to level,

:34:51.:34:55.

this frame was very important to David. But he won't be getting the

:34:56.:35:01.

chance now. This pink to go 47 in front, with just 43 remaining.

:35:02.:35:27.

APPLAUSE Obviously feels by dropping to the

:35:28.:35:37.

top cushion he can just get past the black and, of course, if he pots

:35:38.:35:43.

this red, it will mean David Gilbert will not be coming for smokers. --

:35:44.:35:55.

snookers. He's taken these really well but on the other hand, lucky to

:35:56.:35:56.

get an opportunity. He does strike the cue ball with

:35:57.:36:08.

authority. He hits the ball well. Our sponsors Dafabet are giving ?100

:36:09.:36:38.

to a children's hospice in Sheffield for every century break that is made

:36:39.:36:45.

at the Crucible. A lovely gesture and a very worthy cause.

:36:46.:37:10.

These three colours for the century. And the ?100 for the charity.

:37:11.:37:27.

I'm sure the players are aware, so no exhibition shots here, Barry,

:37:28.:37:39.

just make certain this black... Oh! Well! What a shame. But David

:37:40.:37:47.

Gilbert had three chances and could only accrue 19 points. One chance

:37:48.:37:52.

for Barry Hawkins, a break of 93. Six - for.

:37:53.:37:59.

JASON MOHAMMAD: Barry Hawkins on his way to victory. Into the next we go,

:38:00.:38:03.

Gilbert on the table, 14 points behind.

:38:04.:38:10.

I don't think that plant was on when Barry Hawkins was at the table. It

:38:11.:38:37.

was probably on but couldn't go because of the red that he missed

:38:38.:38:40.

into the left corner. Awkward rows near the side cushion.

:38:41.:38:55.

-- awkward red. The yellow tight to the baulk cushion. A big ask to win

:38:56.:38:59.

the frame at this visit. Trying to screw the cue ball and

:39:00.:39:27.

disturb the red on the left cushion. If he pots the red, the problem is

:39:28.:39:44.

going to be the yellow. No, too thick. And playing at that

:39:45.:40:17.

pace, if he missed it, he was bound to leave it. But that yellow near

:40:18.:40:24.

the baulk cushion is going to be just as much a problem for Barry

:40:25.:40:30.

Hawkins, although David, you can see from his reaction, couldn't believe

:40:31.:40:31.

he missed that red. It isn't inch perfect, this. OK,

:40:32.:40:55.

he's on the green. But to get near the baulk cushion, you have to play

:40:56.:40:57.

with a lot of left-hand side. APPLAUSE

:40:58.:41:50.

He just had enough angle so that was a good shot from Barry Hawkins, who

:41:51.:41:55.

is now one point in front. He needs up to and including the pink to win

:41:56.:41:58.

the third frame of this morning's session.

:41:59.:42:28.

He's overdone not slightly. Didn't want to be using the rest.

:42:29.:42:49.

That's excellent. That really is excellent. So difficult with the

:42:50.:42:54.

rest to hit the cue ball in the middle when it dead straight shot

:42:55.:43:01.

that. This has been a very solid performance. Don't get me wrong, you

:43:02.:43:04.

always need a little bit of help from your opponent, and David

:43:05.:43:08.

Gilbert, particularly in the first frame, had three chances and didn't

:43:09.:43:13.

make the most of them. He's lost the first three frames and is now eight

:43:14.:43:18.

- 4 behind. JASON MOHAMMAD: As they head into

:43:19.:43:21.

the mid-session interval, Hawkins just needs one frame to book a place

:43:22.:43:25.

in the second round and would possibly meet Ricky Walden in the

:43:26.:43:29.

second round. The match we're focusing on right now is the one

:43:30.:43:33.

between Judd Trump and Tom Ford. Just before the mid-session

:43:34.:43:35.

interval, Judd Trump played a magnificent shot on the pink to seal

:43:36.:43:40.

that frame. Tom Ford will be genuinely kicking himself during the

:43:41.:43:45.

interval. The players are due back out and we will hand back over to

:43:46.:43:48.

our commentary team of Ken Doherty and Willie Thorne. I'm just

:43:49.:43:52.

wondering, Willie, whether that will play on the mind of Tom Ford.

:43:53.:43:56.

WILLIE THORNE: Judd Trump will be very relieved, getting frame 13

:43:57.:44:00.

under way. For all money, it looked like he was going to lose all of the

:44:01.:44:04.

opening frames to let Tom Ford draw level. Tom Ford played a very poor

:44:05.:44:10.

positional shot on the pink and had a pink to win the frame and missed

:44:11.:44:15.

it and we now have the scoreline of 7-5. The match should be on now. Tom

:44:16.:44:21.

should take a lot of positives out of that first session. The fact he

:44:22.:44:29.

lost that last frame I just hope doesn't throw him off feeling like

:44:30.:44:31.

he can win the match. There is a bit of mileage in

:44:32.:45:57.

bringing the pink into play because the red impact spot is going to

:45:58.:46:00.

cause a problem if he hits the black.

:46:01.:46:07.

Don't blame him for that. He needs a bit of good fortune but hasn't got

:46:08.:46:13.

it because that red has come to stop the black potting.

:46:14.:46:18.

The red comes out of the pack and goes right to the cushion to stop

:46:19.:46:27.

the black potting. I wonder, is the pink available to the right centre?

:46:28.:46:37.

Maybe if it is, it's a bonus. A great angle. Perfect.

:46:38.:47:37.

Is a possibility to bounce off the cushions and get onto the black in

:47:38.:47:45.

the same pocket. What did he do there? The signal from Tom would

:47:46.:47:55.

suggest that that was a bit of a twitch, as we say in the game. He

:47:56.:47:59.

was trying to, believe it or not, get onto the black in the same

:48:00.:48:06.

pocket. There you go. That's what happened.

:48:07.:48:36.

Well, it was a good attempt. He tried to kill the pace of the cue

:48:37.:48:44.

ball but he's not on that nicely. Too difficult. So a good safety

:48:45.:48:47.

required here. I was in the practice room in the

:48:48.:49:04.

mid-session interval and, as we said, Judd Trump was in there, it

:49:05.:49:14.

hitting a few balls. Fellow professional Adam Duffy, his good

:49:15.:49:17.

friend, was there. He looked pretty relaxed and he will

:49:18.:49:33.

have been a bit more relaxed after winning that last frame before the

:49:34.:49:38.

interval. Absolutely. It helped that Tom missed that pink.

:49:39.:49:46.

I've never seen him, in all the years I've been watching him, miss

:49:47.:49:56.

as many long shots as this. He's missing them by quite some way, as

:49:57.:50:02.

well. It's such a big part of his game, his long pot. It's amazing

:50:03.:50:05.

that he hasn't got it going today. Tom Wood love to get down to this

:50:06.:50:31.

red on the right of the black spot. If he gets onto that, it will be

:50:32.:50:33.

ideal for him. That looks good. What an excellent

:50:34.:50:45.

positional shot. The good thing about this is that it frees up the

:50:46.:50:47.

black spot. Pretty good. Will he go into the

:50:48.:50:56.

five reds? He's got a nice angle. Anywhere down into the middle of

:50:57.:51:13.

them would be perfect. Nice angle in the line, anywhere in the middle of

:51:14.:51:21.

the reds. And it just worked out a treat. Excellent shot!

:51:22.:51:21.

APPLAUSE He couldn't have played that any

:51:22.:51:32.

better. I can only presume he's shaking his head because he's not on

:51:33.:51:37.

the black nicely but the red that's to the right-hand corner, I'm sure

:51:38.:51:40.

he can just wobble it off the cushion.

:51:41.:51:45.

If he does get the black on its spot, he can certainly think about

:51:46.:51:49.

winning the frame at this visit. He seems to be getting a little

:51:50.:52:59.

upset and if you keep putting doubts in your mind, it's going to affect

:53:00.:53:00.

you eventually. Maybe he's just going to catch the

:53:01.:53:13.

red that's behind the black spot and that's why he's playing a screw

:53:14.:53:19.

shot. Any sort of case should be good. And it is. -- any sort of

:53:20.:53:31.

kiss. He is one of those players where you

:53:32.:53:42.

think that he isn't on the ball but then he still comes out with the

:53:43.:53:43.

pot. A little bit short of pace but he

:53:44.:54:02.

may have been fortunate. If it's dead onto the blue in the corner, he

:54:03.:54:03.

will be lucky. He's missed it! I can't believe it.

:54:04.:54:18.

That is one of the easiest shot. The blue dead straight into the green

:54:19.:54:19.

pocket. If Tom loses this frame, he made out

:54:20.:54:38.

himself too much to even consider himself winning the match. Whatever

:54:39.:54:44.

happens, he'll go home to Leicester and think about what should have

:54:45.:54:50.

been. This is a match he definitely had every chance of winning.

:54:51.:55:44.

He's given himself a little bit to do here with this black. And what a

:55:45.:55:51.

horrible kick. Horrible kick. Just shows you, when you're struggling,

:55:52.:55:57.

everything can go wrong. You play a bad positional shot, the snooker

:55:58.:55:58.

gods sometimes don't let you off. Tom Ford back to the table. 29

:55:59.:56:16.

points in front. Red, colour, red and he will close the gap again to

:56:17.:56:17.

one. Well done.

:56:18.:56:38.

APPLAUSE That is a great shot.

:56:39.:57:20.

APPLAUSE JASON MOHAMMAD: That match continues

:57:21.:57:53.

on the red button. Our time on BBC Two is almost up.

:57:54.:57:57.

Before we leave you, let's just take you to see Barry Hawkins taking on

:57:58.:58:02.

David Gilbert. A great morning's work for Hawkins. He is celebrating

:58:03.:58:08.

his birthday today. Dave Gilbert needs a snooker but it looks like

:58:09.:58:11.

it's all going to be over inside two hours. There was an excellent break

:58:12.:58:21.

of 93 and a place in the second round against Ricky Walden looking

:58:22.:58:24.

likely for Barry Hawkins. That's it from us on BBC Two for now but Hazel

:58:25.:58:30.

will be back at one o'clock on BBC Two with live coverage of Neil

:58:31.:58:33.

Robertson taking on Robbie Williams. Bye for now.

:58:34.:59:08.

If you like game shows with celebrities and exciting prizes,

:59:09.:59:10.

Duh-duh-duh... Saturday night with Rob Brydon.

:59:11.:59:18.

Ted, I... I'm not interested in coming to see Lady Gaga, sir.

:59:19.:59:25.
