Sunday, 2nd Round, Morning Snooker: World Championship

Hello, a very good morning to you and welcome to the Crucible. We are

gearing up for the World Championship final. Late-night drama

last night as former world champion Mark Selby scraped past Sam Baird.

Expect more twist and turns today. This morning, two great players

never to lift this coveted trophy. I always play my best when I am

under the most pressure and most expectation, against the biggest

names, so for me it is great to be black playing Ding in the last 16.

Just happy to still be in the tournament after what was a close

first game. I am playing well, feeling good, just keep going, keep

practising. I think it is to find a way to go easier, and to not to try

to push myself. It is definitely a lot better from what it was, I

think. His confidence may be still isn't 100%. He possibly could have

gone out of the first game. I know that his weaknesses are there, it is

just a matter of me exploiting them. He is playing very good at the

Crucible. I have played him twice, and he also has beaten me twice. He

has played very good. I think he has a feeling that he is feeling good,

great. He is playing nice. I have to make sure he doesn't get a chance. I

know that if I play my best, there will only be one winner. So as long

as I concentrate on my game, I don't have to worry about him. He is not

at his best anyway, so I don't think he has got the belief that I have

got. Ruud identity about who is the favourite to win the tournament. I

just do myself, just play my snooker. I know I can do something

special. Snooker is not about the tables. I just need to think right,

that is it going easy. This has all the makings of being an absolutely

brilliant match this morning. And remember they met in the

quarterfinals here at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield last year, with

Ding Junhui being beaten 13 minus four.

On table two this morning, making his first appearance in the second

round here at the Crucible, a player ranked 19th in the world. He won his

first ranking title in Shanghai this season, knocked out Joe Perry in the

the world, the winner of three ranking titles, made his Crucible

debut in 2007, went on to make the semifinals two years later full

On table one, the former world number one who has won an incredible

11 world ranking titles but never this is the big one. He has dropped

out of the top 16 which meant he had a qualified to get here. Maybe this

is the year of Ding Junhui. And Ding's opponent, one of the most

exciting players in snooker. The too has never lifted this coveted title.

Coming close in 2011, when he was a runner-up. If he wins today, maybe

a great matchup so early on. Played eight times, four wins for each

player. It could be a close one here. Yes, worthy of a final, this

matchup. Looking forward to this, this morning. I can't see there

being much safety play, Griff. Well, Ding had quite a strange match

against Martin. Martin played quite well. Great break-builder is, both

break. When Ding gets in those positions, he would expect to win

the frame there. Playing the plant, an element of

safety. But the distance between those two rents was difficult. You

can see where he has left the cue ball.

The red in the centre looks very thin cut from here. Got a straight

forward safety between green and brown from the red-macro. -- from

the red. That's a little bit unfortunate.

Didn't envisage that red going over the left corner. It is a tough cue

ball on the baulk cushion. I still expected him to get it. Not quite

settled yet, Judd Trump. A slow start, of course, in his

first round match. Ding definitely be looking for a

quick start in this match. Last year, after the first session

against Judd Trump, he found himself at least 6-2 down. We'll need to get

a good start this morning. This black is frame ball, but he

would like it a bit easier than this. Have to keep so still in these

shots. And he did. Looking to bring that read into play

on the left cushion. Got to make sure he's not going to leave a red

on. Just made sure he didn't leave those

reds in that part of the table. Just one snooker required, so Ding

has got to be careful here. Pretty good. He'd like to have gone

a little bit further, but Trump will take this read on. -- this red on.

That was a surprise, Stephen! Yes, as I said before, he's not

relaxed yet. He's a bit nervy. Tight onto the cushion. You'd expect him

to get this. It wasn't the case last year in this match. He never missed

a ball. 30 plus breaks from Wenbo -- from

Ding there. He's taken the first frame. Bit of an edgy start from

Judd Trump. Three mistakes, pretty blatant mistakes, have cost him that

first frame. His first safety was much too thick. Caught the blue full

in the face. He's tight onto the baulk cushion here, but you don't

expect him to miss it. You expect, in a match like this, for him to be

ready up for it. A nervy one. Although the frame, he needs snooker

's, so his concentration isn't as intense as it would be if he could

still win, but a bad miss. Just the start Ding Junhui wanted.

You expect such fireworks when Judd Trump plays. You don't expect him to

miss anything sometimes! A decent break off, with Judd Trump

keeping the black in the open. That's what these attacking players

like to see. Playing the single red in the

safety. He would have to split the reds out a little bit if he played

them on the left-hand side. I would imagine that would be a tactic of

Ding in this match, to play more conservative safety play. The last

thing he wants to do is open the reds up all the time. I think that

would be how we'd -- how he would play against other people, but Judd

Trump is aggressive. I think we will see Ding play more thin edges off

the pack. He's been a little bit fortunate, Judd Trump. He has left

the red to the right corner, but Ding is hampered by the green. Just

get the cue past... I thought he should have left that

one alone, myself. He could have played a negative safety. Bridging

over the green there. You can see how close he was to the green. He is

aware of that as well. More or less guaranteed to leave Judd a good

chance if he missed it. Judd ready looking, planning to get

that black back on its spot. Playing to one of these two reds near the

black spot to the corner. Wants to get on the black.

Where does the pink go? It's going on the black spot. It's OK. He would

like to get rid of that red to the right of the pink, because his

position on the pink is not so easy - to the left corner, anyway. Just

bunch. Judging by his body language, I think he's on something.

Just one more red, then, for Ding. It is a good response from Judd

Trump, this. He looked a bit shaky in the first frame, which is

understandable. That's what he needed. An easy opening. To help him

relax and get into his rhythm. Since then, it's been plain sailing,

really. And impressive start. Judd Trump has only had one century

so far, which is unusual for him. He had a bit of a struggle in his first

round, 7-3 down, and basically had to battle. He came back to win it,

and showed good character, or will to win. -- a good will to win.

APPLAUSE He is going to need a good shop now

to keep the break going. -- shot. Blew into the green pocket would be

my choice. -- the blue. APPLAUSE

Trick shots. Potting three balls at once, so Judd Trump does level the

match. Shaking his head. That will be shown a few times, I can tell

you. So you think Ding should not have gone for this red that cost him

the frame? No, I feel that bridging over the green, half the chance he

would get if the green wasn't there he would definitely have taken it

on, but he will put a touch of side in this, he is or was going to catch

it thick if you missed it, and guaranteed to leave Judd Trump a

very good chance, but I must say he did grasp the chance today. I just

thought he may have played that long shot with a touch more bottom, to

keep the cue ball low. Then add an element of safety to it.

We always say you never really relax until you have got a frame on the

board, even in these long matches. Let's see if you can relax and see

what kind of snooker we will get this morning.

The brake off has become so important in this game, especially

with someone like Judd, who will just knock these in for fun.

He has lost the cue ball there, by the look of it, unless there is

something I can't see full stop that was a poor shot, a very lax

positional shot. He had a lot of room to get from this red into the

pink. That is a very careless safety as well. If he has not left a red,

in the left corner, he has been very fortunate. Looks very tired. After

that long pot he made, you would thought he would push on there,

didn't you? It is a bonus when you get one of those Reds left from the

break. He can just about get through to the bottom one. He didn't get

very close, I don't know what happened. Did he put a touch of side

in it? Very tight. Sometimes you can play with a touch of right-hand side

to try to square the angle up but he has looked to play the cannon as

well. He had a lot of things to think about.

How aggressively did he play this black? Fantastic shot.

He has been a bit unlucky there. Three or four inches between the two

reds, below the pink. Looks pretty straight, just a matter of the first

red coming past the one. That is what he is looking at. I

must admit, I would be tempted. He made a right mess of that. Took

plenty of time, to be fair, it wasn't straightforward. I thought he

had played that rather quickly when he made his decision because it was

a tricky one. As it has turned out, he hasn't left anything on.

Had to cover that read, Ding, really, to get any chance of a pot

from the next visit. A very positive safety shot, he

spread the balls all over the place. Ding is playing the outside red here

on the left-hand side of the table. A touch of run inside. He played it

quite well. So a tester for Ding Junhui. It is a

good sign of confidence, as far as I am concerned. In fact he is going to

refuse it. Those two reds, seemed like they had an angle to follow

through on the cushion. A bit surprised. Judd Trump, it will give

him encouragement, to see his opponent turned down chances like

that. I bet Judd would not have refused that one.

He has gone for this red, a deep screw. I didn't spot that one, to be

fair. Tremendous cue power, which helps in those types of shots,

obviously. APPLAUSE Bow, where is the cue ball? That was

a great shock. A bit of pressure on that one. If you missed it it was

bound to have cost him the frame. He may be able to get to the

snookers required without taking those two reds on the right-hand

cushion. A good opportunity this. He will be disappointed not to win the

frame from here. One very important shot in this

effort from Ding. He left himself a very thin cut into the right-hand

pocket. If he'd missed that, I think he would have left Trump in the

position to clinch this frame. Very missable.

This pink, and that last open red, should take care of this frame.

Just a touch too much side on the cue ball. So Trump may come back.

Unless Ding can double this, and get back to the left centre. That was

one of mine! Trump is making the effort. Good to

see that. Not sure if he had a kick then. He

missed the pink by a long way. A couple of long reds the story of

that frame for Ding Junhui. It seemed he had an angle on one to

follow through to the black crush on, or even stand for the pink. It

is interesting to me. Maybe this is a tactic for the match, that he's

not going to take on any risks. Fearful of being punished by Judd

Trump. Never going to see the red that he knocked in. Not an easy

alternative safety here, so forced into this shot. Look at whether reds

are. If he misses this, it's going to cost him the frame. Manages to

find a path through to the cue ball. Beautifully struck. Almost went

in-off. Went on to that frame-winning break. A decent long

shot by Ding Junhui. The frame before the mid-session interval.

Trump breaks off. Looking to improve his safety, Judd Trump. It's been a

little bit ragged so far. Judd didn't threaten the pocket with

that shot there. He hasn't left anything on for Ding. He will be a

little disturbed at that previous shot. That is a better safety from

Judd. Not quite sure if he can get past

the green to the red on the right. He's looking at coming off the side

cushion, so he can't see that. The red just above the black goes to

the right corner, I think. Enough to play on that. Screw down directly.

He could have gone into the bunch. In the end, he played to the red to

the left of the black, to the right corner. This red still cuts.

If he had parted that red in the middle of the pocket, he probably

would have cannoned the yellow. A disappointing end to an opportunity

to score a few points there. A pretty clumsy attempt to get behind

the green, it has to be said. How close was that? That could have

gone in. Very aggressive all the time, isn't

he, Judd Trump? It suits his style, of course.

He will be disappointed to miss that one.

The long pot success... Very early in this match, it has to be said,

but he will hope to double that percentage.

Ding will be sat in his chair, expecting that long redness to have

cost him the frame. -- that long red mess. You always think the worst

when you are in the chair, when you've missed a shot. Well, I did,

anyway! It's a very good chance now. The red will come back over the

pocket. The reds are set very well. They are

a bit straight. I suppose he can see a red there between the black and

pink. If he screws the cue ball, he will be OK for that one. That's

perfect. Good position play from Judd in this

break. Hasn't really left himself in trouble at all yet. Betting a little

bit more difficult. -- getting. He has two reds to go for now. They

are both difficult. Ding can only tie, should Trump miss this pot.

Wow! A beautiful shot, that was. Clean and dead straight.

He's a bit short this time. Still a good chance for the 100. It will be

the first of the match. There's been 50 centuries so far in

the tournament. Trump has just made one so far. I'm sure there will be

more. Hopefully here! He does make it look ridiculously easy when he's

playing well. He can move the cue ball right around the table.

Seeing that long pot he knocked in. He screws it back with ease. It's a

great asset to have in this game. It's not you can hit the ball hard,

it's you can hit the ball easier to get the spin on. Very impressive,

this. Great stuff. Very entertaining. He

doesn't fancy the black. He's made the century. It's a very good

session of snooker, I must say. It ends at two frames each.

STUDIO: Terry, thank you very much. We knew it was going to be a decent

snooker match. Yet another century break at the Crucible. This is how

we are looking for tournament centuries. 2015 World Cup a

record-breaking year with 86. Stephen Hendry has just popped out

of the commentary box to have a chat about that first session. We are on

target to break that record. Without a doubt. We can break it before we

get the one-table situation. The story of this match is going to be

who takes their chances. We have already seen both players get in.

They are going to score very heavily. It is up to each player to

do that when they get the chance. The moment they missed chances, it

will affect confidence. Trump got over the line against Liang Wenbo.

When he is in the do you detect a different Judd Trump? Can he go on

and win this tournament? Without a doubt, he has the talent to win it.

You should have won it before. I sense a little bit of... I would not

say Cor in Ding about Judd. But he has played a couple of conservative

shots. He is wary of Judd Trump's long potting. That's understandable.

He is such a powerful player and he scores so quickly. On Ding. He has

dropped out of the top 16. We have to describe him as a qualifier

because that's what he is, which seems strange. Do you see in him

someone who can go through to the latter stages of this competition?

Not as much as I would fancy Judd. I would fancy judge to win this match.

I think he will be too powerful for Ding. Ding still looks a bit fragile

to me. I would tip Judd macro -- judge to win this match. But things

can score heavily. Thank you very much indeed. Let's look at what is

happening on table two. Keirin Wilson, who won the Shanghai

Masters, taking on Mark Allen. Mark Allen hasn't been to the

quarterfinals since 2011. I like music, and different types of

music, but I like it quite when I'm trying to actors. It is sometimes

good to have an atmosphere, though. You don't do anything too hard.

Don't get frustrated. Just try to keep your arm going. For us, the

hardest part is the waiting round between games. You just want to get

on the table. I am looking in good shape, both on and off the table.

Mentally, I am in a good place. All I need to do is keep practising and

getting ready for my next game. You never know what it is going to

bring. It is easy to say, but it brings its own tension. The history

as well, it's something you cannot create anywhere else. They have

tried to recreate the Crucible in Beijing. If it moves away from the

UK in general, it will be a step backwards for us. It takes a good

performance to beat O Sullivan here, so I'm very happy to be one of the

few who has done that. Ronnie wasn't that far off his best that day, and

I managed to win. Obviously, the last year or 18 months, Kyren has

flown up the rankings. Got his win in Shanghai, beating me along the

way. I know his game. He is very, very talented and has a bright

future in the game. Hopefully not much of a future left in this year's

World Championship. It was a long way to go. I think I have the game

to win the World Championship, but there's a lot of people who will

think the same way. All I can do is control my own performances, go out

there and give it my best, and see where I end up. Kyren Wilson has had

a terrific season. He beat Mark along the way in the Shanghai

Masters, beating him 6-1 in the semifinals. Kyren Wilson has had to

qualify for this tournament. In the final qualifying round, had to beat

Matthew Stevens. Then had that fantastic first round performance

here at the Crucible. We are going to show you what happened in the

first frame. Mark Allen leading by 18 points.

Where the balls are at the moment is in his favour.

Could knock one red onto the other, but he's got to be careful.

He could knock a red into a pocket, I said! What a slice of luck that

was! Yes, Mark would love to hit this

first time. The pink and black are out of play. At the moment, Kyren

still needs those. Even though there is only 17 points in it.

Noise coming from the other table, but a good hit from Mark Allen.

Unfortunately, he's (. Kyren Wilson just doing his sums. Only 17 points

behind. So yellow, red and blue. Up to the

pink. If he takes a brown, he could still win with the pink. Should take

the green now. Was trying to bring the black out into play!

That needed to run. Go buy that blue. It's just OK. 13 points

behind. Yellow, green, brown and blue is 14 points. Pink will put him

the seven ahead with seven remaining. He will need all

remaining colours to win this frame. As you said, it was so important to

hit that red first time. An extra valuable four points. He's

got to get a nice angle on the blue to try and disturbed that pink. He

did a clearance against Joe Perry in this previous round that was

unbelievable. This would be just as good. Needs to be on the half ball

blew so he can move the pink interplay. I think the white is just

about OK. It's perfect. He's got to move the pink, and get an angle on

it to get back onto the black. It is tough going at the minute. But a

chance. He wants to try and knock the pink

possibly over the middle or down the bottom corner. Too far for the

middle. Too much pace on it. Now, he is one point in front. Will he try

and popped the pink? -- pot the pink. He's looking at a cross double

into the green pocket with safety in mind.

A pretty good shot. He had a girl that top pocket. I think so. Of

course, if it does going from he has a next chance. He did play an

excellent safety shot. This looks good, a similar shot from

Mark Allen. He has to be careful here. Try to go back up into the

middle of the baulk cushion. He has to be careful to avoid the black.

He played that pretty well. That was an impressive safety shot, as Kevin

said. The natural way he would have possibly kissed into the black.

Playing that way was dangerous, but did it perfectly. There is just

enough room to hit from behind, but with the white being so close to the

cushion, he might not be able to get enough right-hand side. This is not

an easy safety shot unless he can get behind the pink. If that white

was 34 inches off the cushion he could play with lots of side. And he

can from here. The last five or six safety shots have been right out of

the top drawer. The nice tab on the table by Mark

Allen in appreciation of the safety shot. He cannot buy the up and down,

the black is in the way. He has to somehow tipped the pink to the site

cushion. That is pretty good. He will

certainly be happy with that. Wilson is one point ahead, the bank will

put in seven ahead with seven left. It might be worth having a go. He

doesn't like it. The only problem with that shot is he good loses

insurance here, because Mark Allen might bring this black interplay,

hopefully hold the black with a pink is. Got it all wrong, and that could

be end of frame. Is that all right, he said to Kyren

Wilson. He could not have asked for better than that after almost 34

minutes of play. It is Kyren Wilson who putts-mac pink and black to win

and elongated first frame, but he does not mind and gets his first

frame on board, the first frame of the morning. Kyren Wilson leads Mark

Allen by 1-0. He will be disappointed by that first frame.

Into frame two, Wilson leading by 25. Comment it out he has played the

pot. A fabulous pot. Very dangerous at that speed. Yes, and what an

angle. It was well calculate it. You could see where the cue ball was.

Leave the red into the green pocket. This is a pressure pot.

That was an excellent pot, well played. He was forced into it. If he

misses, it is the only red he has on.

The corner might be the best choice. Unless he can get the gap to get

onto the pink, it is tough to get onto the black, so he might take it

to the corner. And now has choices to get straight

on to the red which is on the pink spot. Just the pace. If he gets on

the red straight on this pink spot, every chance to take the frame at

this visit. A little thin on the blue. If he

plays the blue he may have to play the cannon into the three reds.

He will be fortunate if he is on this red, and he held his hand up,

he is fortunate. But you have to take your luck when you get it. Two

more reds after this next black. The two near the front.

Play that nicely on the right-hand side, back up for blue.

Acknowledged that is more or less frame ball.

I'm sure when Mark Allen played at last safety shot he thought he would

be coming to the table very soon indeed, but it was a wonderful pot

to the centre pocket that started this break. Did not see this coming,

losing the frame from it. It didn't go in. The highest break

of the match so far, 50, Kyren Wilson goes to clear. STUDIO: This

Kyren Wilson winning frame three. Mark Allen leads the career

head-to-head stats by 3-1, but you would never have thought that

judging by the performance of this young man this morning. That match

World Championships is Judd Trump against Ding Junhui, 2-2. Let's

rejoin our commentators. COMMENTATOR: Chose to play with a

lot of running side. He had one tough pot to start with, and in an

awkward pink in the middle. Ding will not be happy with this because

he has left him on the other side of the table last two times he has

broken off, now he has left that one on the other side. We just saw Ding

pouring water into this class, you looked up, saw the red going in,

look straight down again. That is what you get when you played Judd

Trump, I'm afraid. He looks pretty sharp this morning.

When he gets in amongst the balls. Such a powerful player. This needs

to bounce. A little bit careless there will stop you will be forced

to go into the five reds and the pink. Does not really need to play a

lot of pace, just basically to hold the cue ball. A little bit surprised

he did not go into the main bunch there.

Judd Trump, 51. That is unexpected. The red in the middle. Would not

have expected him to miss that one. Just a little careless positional

shot. A couple of inches too short getting nicely on the black, and

that is what happens. A lot of times when you have emerged

between two top players, it is the frames you win when you shouldn't

have the ones that will decide the match. And this could be one of

those. Yes, on the split scores, he played

against the best splits when he was in the pack. Did not quite get the

spin then, but should be able to go in often a fork on the blue. Lots of

left-hand side on the cue ball. Foul-mac reds around the pink, they

are all covering each other, so he can play the two reds on the left of

the table here. He got so much right-hand side on the cue ball they

are eventually slid off the second cushion.

It is not that cushion, the next cushion, you can see it comes off a

wider angle than normal. Add to that of pace to the cue ball. I think the

pink cos. Still a good chance. Not in prime position just yet, but he'd

be disappointed if he did not win it from here.

That is a very clumsy positional shot. Very unusual for Ding Junhui.

Usually has the cue ball on a string. He potted the yellow on the

right-hand side of the pocket. I think he will be happy with that,

Terry. He has just run a little bit too far. Can he avoid those two reds

and avoid canning? He will have to make contact with the two reds, and

is not guaranteed to finish on something here. He'd love to be able

to screw past those two reds get to the red next to the pink. It's

amazing when you slip out of position when there is a really good

chance, sometimes you just cannot get accurate. He's OK here, but...

It doesn't look the best angle he's got on the black. The pink and black

goes to the right corner. He would like to finish low on that and then

can he nudge the pink and the other red interplay. Obviously goes to the

left centre as well. He will not be able to move that red. The remaining

red, after potting this one. So he needs an angle on the black. It

should be no problem, the angle he has got on this pot.

To be fair, the way the reds were set before, he is making hard work

of this. Looks like he will need lots of top spin off the right-hand

side cushion. Just one or two bad positional

shots. The first one, the yellow, after that he never regained perfect

addition. He is right back in the frame. But for your own confidence

you want to pinch those frames in one visit.

Made a bit of a mess of that one. He has left an easy smoker on now for

Judd. And not sure if he can swerve around

this blue. He is having a look at that. Makes it a bit easier to hit.

If you left out on he'd be lucky. We saw Judd miss one similar to this in

the first frame. It is a good pot. Not the best position.

He is obviously taking this pink on. He will stun the cue ball, maybe,

two or three inches, leave himself a long yellow.

I'm shocked. Phone the doctor. I think it is a sign of respect for

your opponent. He respects Ding. He has had a big lead in this frame,

and does not want to lose it, obviously. But I am surprised he did

not take that pink on. I think he would have made that pink, he would

have made it seven out of ten, I should think, he is such a good

potter. I bet he wishes he took it on now.

That cue ball has just crept past the blue to leave it to the right

centre. Can he get enough top spin over to the pink? Yes, that is

pretty good. This is a smelly pink for frame. They always say the

harder you hit this, the more difficult the pot. If you hit it

dead weight there is a bit answer could wriggle in, but if you miss it

you could leave it. A long way out. Did not play the most positively,

for me. With the cue ball is, it is frame ball, you just have to go all

out for the pot. If you leave it on, so be it. If you have that element

of safety in your mind, you never give the pot 100%.

I would have played across that I would. He could have gone across and

down towards the black spot area. Half a chance here.

No-mac. He has turned down a street bank of the spot early on in the

frame, and then he takes on that want to go up and down the table for

the black. Confusing shot selection, it has to be said.

He cannot quite make it, can he? Had half a chance they are to get behind

the black. What is Ding thinking of here? Will he take on this pot?

Certainly not easy from here. I think he was wise there. In the

circumstances but was I should think very out of ten would make that.

This is a rarity, this frame. Don't think there will be many of these

frames with these players getting to the pink and black, they are such

heady scorers. Normally frames would be well one by this time.

Judd has made a mess of that shot. Frame ball for Ding Junhui.

That is a good pot. Some strange shot choices from Judd Trump towards

the end of that frame. It is Ding Junhui with that nice pot on the

pinky takes it to go 3-2 ahead. We conceding gently sat in his

chair. Judd has left the arena. The end of that frame was a tale of two

pinks. This one, I cannot believe he turned it down. Stun the cue ball,

and you leave yourself a yellow well within his range, a yellow people

probably pot eight times out of ten. He has turned it down, and then not

even played a decent safety. And then later on, we move on, just

think and black, this is a much more difficult shot, to pop the pink and

take the cue ball up and down the table for the black. He misses that

by long way. After that played another poor safety shot, and in the

end Ding inch the frame. Judd Trump to break. I think Judd should stick

to his instincts, and attack, it is most powerful game. I think

sometimes he confuses himself in his shot selection. Well, perhaps he has

a few people in his ear. He is such a good player. You were talking

earlier on result he would have won this Championship and mortar and by

now, and it does not come along. And upwards pressure. Like you say, he

is such a good attacking player. Frightening. In many ways. You have

got to play to your strengths. Again, per a break off, leaving that

red, which we could call a shot to nothing, but not any more. Players

prison confidently believe the cue ball short so they are onto

something. Around the back of the black ear for the black to right

corner. He just flicked that red into the

middle. He would like to stun the right-hand side of the pack. He is

playing with bottom, trying to screw the cue ball through the pack. Too

good! He connected with that well. He is low on the black, but he still

has a tremendous amount of action on the cue ball.

The most important part of that shot was to miss the baulk colours on the

way down. So, a bit of momentum here for Ding.

Com macro made a 51 in the previous frame. -- Trump. Ding won it in the

end. That is when the players feel at their best - when they are out

there making breaks all the time. They feel at their worst when they

are in the chair. You can't strike the ball better

than that. The action he got on the cue ball was fantastic there.

REFEREE: Keep the noise down, please. Just to miss the blue and

the brown. He struck that perfectly. Such a boost in confidence you get

when you win frames that you shouldn't. The last frame.

Just lost perfect position. He was looking for a fuller cannon on the

pink there. Played a good shot there. Still on a

red, but he would like to be potting and staying down there on the black.

We'll have to go up the table. These are awkward, when they are close

together. Seems to be fine at the moment. Everything is going in.

That wasn't the cleanest of pots, was it? There is one in the middle

of the bunch that I think goes to the left corner.

Starting to look good, Terry. Starting to look very confident.

Everything is going in in the middle of the pocket, more or less. That

previous shot was a bit thin. When Ding starts to time his delivery

well, he gets so much on the ball. He doesn't have too long on the back

swing. He is very still on the ball. At like ballplayers, you lose your

timing now and again. Either go too fast or too slow. Then you lose a

bit of belief out there, because you will miss a few shots when you do

that. 68 ahead. 59 on. This has been a

good visit to the table from Ding Junhui. From the very start. He

potted a long red. A poor break off from Judd Trump, and this has been

the result. Ding Junhui has had three century

breaks. A bad contact on that red. You saw it jump up. Three centuries

in his first round. Just a key red on the black cushion to negotiate,

and this will be his fourth of the tournament.

Follow through when he is screwing back. Use the jaws of the pocket to

bring the cue ball out. So, yellow for his first century of

this match. Fourth of the tournament.

APPLAUSE Looked another player when he first

got in for his century breaks, Terry. Just had that feeling, the

way he was walking around the table. Fantastic from Ding Junhui of that

poor break off from Judd Trump. A two frame gap opens up. So, we

talked about the break off earlier on. In has done it a couple of

times, and now it was Judd Trump's turned to leave a red out. They are

just failing to get the cue ball either behind the yellow or behind

the green. Although it is a difficult shot, prose and expect to

get it six or seven times out of ten. What they have to do is hit to

the last red of the break off a little bit thinner, and then it goes

across and back into the pack again. OK, the split will not be so good as

if you were hitting it thicker, but you definitely get safe. They are

trying to do it by using side, and sometimes the cushion slides a bit

with running side, and they don't get far enough over to be behind

green or yellow, as you mentioned. Ding breaks off. Frame seven. We

sought this match would be all about the scoring. Another break of

leaving the red. Already had 85, 51, 48, 112 so far.

APPLAUSE He popped it. That is why I am so

surprised when he turns anything down, Terry! We keep saying that he

is going to knock these in. It is such a difficult shot. He is sitting

down on the ball. Has to hit it with a lot of pace. He looks as if he's

definitely going to pot it every time he takes it on. He doesn't miss

many of them. Judd Trump is under a bit of

pressure now in this match. Two frame is left in the session. Ding

just needs one of them to have a lead going in to the second set. The

first real test of the match. Has he run too far? When he first

hit that, his body language was such that he's travelled to far for this

red. If he has, very careless. I think he played that with

right-hand side to help the pot angle. That's why he's potted it

thick. Just used the bit of side to square up the angle. The red only

just went in the left side of the pocket, as he looked at it. This

will be an aggressive shot if he takes this red sticking out the

right-hand side. But for a couple of cannons, he'd

have been on the black. The other red just knocks the black off its

spot. REFEREE: Brown ball.

A little unlucky there, Judd. Responding to the performance of

Ding so far. He lost one frame, Judd, when he did a 50 break. Then,

of course, he left a red on four Ding, who made a century. Not easy

sitting in the chair wondering about what to do. This morning, his

concentration has probably been his weakness. The frame that Ding

pinched, it was a careless positional shot that let Ding back

into the frame. And again, a careless shot on the blues. This red

goes in the middle, I think. Judd will play a stun with running

side and come round for the black. I wouldn't put it past him.

Oh, the double! It was a good try as well.

A bit awkward here to play an aggressive safety, with those two

reds down near the blue spot there. Ding could take a chance here and

cover the red neighbour centre pocket with the green and brown if

he wanted to. There's risk involved. He took the pot on to the middle. A

bit unlucky to get no angle on the black. I think he was always going

to play just for the eight points here. There may be a gap to get some

power on it. Mac yes. He hit it too well. I can't believe he's got the

cue ball to there. Some good cueing not to foul the

reds! He would love to be taking on the

red to the left of the blue. That shows you he knows how

important these last two frames are. I think if he was 4-2 up, he'd be

taking one of those reds on. If Judd was away from the cushion,

he might take one on on the left side.

We say sometimes that Judd goes for too many, and then when he plays

safety, we say he shouldn't play too much safety! I think he's in the

limelight all the time, and under pressure, I feel.

I'd definitely play safe here. I just think you should play to your

strengths, and his strength is his potting. If he keeps putting, he

just frightens 90% of the players. As Ding looks at it, the red is next

to the blue. He could play a containing safety. I think he can

get to the thin edge of the red, the left edge as Ding looks at it, and

take the cue ball up behind green and brown. He doesn't like it,

though. Didn't get a thin enough edge on the

red. A chance for Judd Trump. There's a shot here... Is the pink

goes to the right corner, if he plays for the pink, and slightly

high on the pink, he could follow through with top spin up on the

reds. If he doesn't get high, he could play for the red that's near

the left centre. That was always going to be tough,

to open the reds from that angle on the black.

Still 30 points in front, but the way the balls are set, that's not a

lot, really. Ding is having a look if he can get past the green to the

Reg just behind the pink. There may be a plant on there. -- the red just

behind the pink. Caught it a bit thin. Could be

lucky, if he gets behind the green. Can Trump get through to this on the

left-hand side? He can't. May use one of his deep screws here of the

red. Those three on the left-hand side, near the top one, he can screw

off the red and go up and down the table. Don't know what he's doing

there. He's looking for a gap between green and brown. The blue is

in the line as well. Looking at the red left of the pink.

He's not looking at a three-ball plant with the screw! There is a

foot between the first two reds, and another foot to the next one! If he

parts this to ball plant, it's the shot of the decade. Never mind of

the tournament! He had no control at all then over

where the balls would finish up. He's been unlucky, that red coming

down. Well, what a chance for Ding! To

press home his advantage in this match. Win this frame, a chance to

be 6-2 ahead. It is always great, with these long matches, to have

your opponent playing catch up. STUDIO: So Ding leads by 4-2 on

table one. Let's strop into table two, where there is an unbelievable

story breaking here. Kyren Wilson the qualifier, is leading Mark Allen

by 5-0. We showed you that he was 3-0 up, and then he rattled in a

break of 55 in frame four, and then a 93 to seal the fifth frame. He is

also going well in this frame as well. He could well go 6-0 up.
