Good morning. Welcome to the Crucible in Sheffield. It is day | :00:35. | :00:41.
four of the World Snooker Championships. Some fantastic | :00:42. | :00:43.
sleeper to look forward to throughout the day. More first-round | :00:44. | :00:46.
matches to be completed this morning. Neil Robertson, you may be | :00:47. | :00:53.
able to see behind me is starting his quest to lift the trophy once | :00:54. | :00:58.
again this morning. Mark Selby is looking for a quick finish this | :00:59. | :01:00.
morning as he takes on Robert Milkins. I am not getting any | :01:01. | :01:14.
younger. I need to start doing well in tournaments. I have only got a | :01:15. | :01:20.
fierce left that to do well at the Crucible. This is probably one of my | :01:21. | :01:28.
last chances. It is about time I started producing something. There | :01:29. | :01:36.
is no place like it. As a snooker player, playing at the Crucible, in | :01:37. | :01:41.
front of all those people, it feels like they are on your back, they are | :01:42. | :01:46.
that close to you. It is a very special venue. A nice place, | :01:47. | :01:51.
Sheffield. It does make you feel very special when people come up to | :01:52. | :01:55.
you asking for your autograph. It makes you realise you are a player | :01:56. | :01:59.
and it makes you feel it is worthwhile. The Neil Robertson game, | :02:00. | :02:10.
that was the highlight. I played well against Mark and the last | :02:11. | :02:14.
couple of tournaments. I have not had a bad career, but he has had a | :02:15. | :02:19.
fantastic one and he has gone from strength to strength. I will be the | :02:20. | :02:22.
underdog but with a bit of luck it will be my Day. The world number one | :02:23. | :02:31.
was returning to action after missing the last two major events | :02:32. | :02:37.
due to personal reasons. But it was the milkman who delivered the first | :02:38. | :02:41.
break of the match. He left his opponent needing snoopers. When | :02:42. | :02:46.
Selby missed the black along the real, it was Milkins who took the | :02:47. | :02:50.
first frame courtesy of this fluke on the red. Selby responded well to | :02:51. | :03:03.
take frame to. This time, his turn to benefit from a fortuitous red as | :03:04. | :03:11.
he levelled up. Frame three went right down to the brown ball. After | :03:12. | :03:16.
a long safety exchange, it was Milkins who came out on top and he | :03:17. | :03:22.
said. Selby levelled the match after this spectacular shot on the blue. | :03:23. | :03:28.
That was as good as it got for Milkins as the Jester from Leicester | :03:29. | :03:31.
took the remaining frame of the session. The hallowed was this | :03:32. | :03:35.
outstanding break to make the score 6-2. He needs 7-2 after the opening | :03:36. | :03:46.
session. Mark has been in the practice room. He looks focused. He | :03:47. | :03:52.
has missed two tournaments due to personal reasons. He beat Ronnie | :03:53. | :03:58.
O'Sullivan 18-14 to win the 2014 championship. Perkins says he plays | :03:59. | :04:05.
well against Selby. He hasn't beaten Mark Selby since 2011. The other | :04:06. | :04:09.
match today sees Neil Robertson taking on Michael Holt. Lots of fans | :04:10. | :04:13.
in the Crucible today. Let's join our MC, Rob Walker. Good morning | :04:14. | :04:21.
ladies and gentlemen. Four top seeds have gone, the qualifiers have been | :04:22. | :04:26.
sensational and if, like the crowd, you are lucky enough to be off work, | :04:27. | :04:32.
you have chosen the right place to be. Welcome to another thrilling | :04:33. | :04:37.
instalment of the 2016 bed free World Snooker Championship. | :04:38. | :04:50.
Please welcome a player he came through an epic qualifier against | :04:51. | :04:58.
Mark King to book his place. Former Shanghai Masters semifinalist and | :04:59. | :05:03.
two time PGC winner, but on the big stage is the Mann from Nottingham, | :05:04. | :05:05.
the Hitman, Michael Holt. And his opponent, ten years after | :05:06. | :05:29.
winning his first ranking title, this Australian has made a massive | :05:30. | :05:34.
contribution to the sport. World champion six years ago and he | :05:35. | :05:37.
famously secured the triple Crown, winning the UK championship in 2013. | :05:38. | :05:44.
Can you hear the Thunder from Down Under? Here is Neil Robertson. | :05:45. | :06:08.
Hollande table two, welcome a player who earned his right to be here at | :06:09. | :06:14.
the hard way, coming through a massive margin of the qualifiers. If | :06:15. | :06:19.
multiple ranking even semifinalist who has turned a corner in the last | :06:20. | :06:24.
couple of seasons. People give it everything. Give it up for the | :06:25. | :06:26.
milkman, Robert Milkins. And finally, a player returning to | :06:27. | :06:50.
the scene of his finest moment in snooker, becoming world champion | :06:51. | :06:54.
here can use ago in a brilliant showdown. Bidding for a ninth | :06:55. | :06:58.
appearance here at the Crucible, UK champion, multiple Masters champion | :06:59. | :07:03.
and world number one, here comes the Jester from Leicester, Mark Selby. | :07:04. | :07:25.
So, Mark Selby looking to get the job done as early as possible. He | :07:26. | :07:32.
needs just three frames to advance. That is our life much easier for | :07:33. | :07:38.
you. On the red button you can watch the other game. | :07:39. | :07:49.
Mark Selby, can he carry on with his terrific form? A magnificent 132 | :07:50. | :08:10.
frame break. Not the best break off from the world number one. An early | :08:11. | :08:14.
chance for Robert Milkins who, it has to be said, could quite easily | :08:15. | :08:20.
have been closer. He had a terrible run at the ball early on in this | :08:21. | :08:21.
match. They were 2-2. Robert APPLAUSE | :08:22. | :09:03.
Target for this morning will be to win three of the first four frames. | :09:04. | :09:10.
If he doesn't do that it will be very tough for him to win this | :09:11. | :09:15.
match. This is just the start he would like. Looking for an angle on | :09:16. | :09:28.
the blue here but he is not far enough. He will want to go into the | :09:29. | :09:43.
pack them. He can use the pack to grant offered to land on the black | :09:44. | :09:48.
year. He can screw the cue ball back through the pack to come back for | :09:49. | :09:57.
the blue. That is OK. He has the blue to the left corner. He has got | :09:58. | :10:05.
to have the most simple technique in the game. He just get down, point | :10:06. | :10:11.
the cue and hits. He is one of the quickest we have ever seen. He | :10:12. | :10:21.
missed a couple of loose like that yesterday. It cost him dearly. We | :10:22. | :10:30.
will show you the job again. -- the shot. | :10:31. | :10:43.
He got better as the first session went on, did Mark Selby. He looked a | :10:44. | :10:50.
little bit edgy earlier in the match. He has got back into the | :10:51. | :10:57.
nicely having missed the last few tournaments. If he does get through | :10:58. | :11:11.
this round, he will then have three sessions. He will only get better. | :11:12. | :11:17.
He may be looking to repeat what he did a couple of years ago against | :11:18. | :11:22.
Ronnie also love them. That was an unbelievable performance. -- Ronnie | :11:23. | :11:26.
O'Sullivan. That is shocking contact there. He | :11:27. | :12:04.
cannot believe that. It is usual. It has thrown the ball so far to the | :12:05. | :12:10.
left. That was incredible. Just when it looked like he would win this | :12:11. | :12:16.
first frame. It makes you look silly. I think the people in the | :12:17. | :12:25.
Crucible have now realised when he gets a terrible contact. That is a | :12:26. | :12:35.
poor shot from Robert. He wanted a cannon on the red. They are bad | :12:36. | :12:44.
misjudgement there. You can afford to do that. As Stephen said, he | :12:45. | :12:51.
needs three of the first four frames here. | :12:52. | :13:12.
He is fine. Good recovery there. He has got to take full advantage of | :13:13. | :13:23.
this situation. Mark Selby was very unlucky with that heavy contact. | :13:24. | :13:36.
When I said he needs to win three of the first four, four out of four | :13:37. | :13:43.
would be ideal. Realistically, he doesn't think he will win all four | :13:44. | :13:51.
frames. He has got to take these chances. He wouldn't have had this | :13:52. | :14:04.
chance but for the horrendous kick Mark Selby suffered. A cannon on the | :14:05. | :14:14.
paint would be perfect here. He has got the cannon on the pink but he | :14:15. | :14:18.
had be read first. He is still in an ideal position. That is the target | :14:19. | :14:26.
he is looking for. Route 66, he was after. This table was starting to | :14:27. | :14:35.
play up a little bit and they have recovered the cushions on here also. | :14:36. | :14:40.
They did it on the other cable and it made a fast difference. Hopefully | :14:41. | :14:45.
now both cables will be playing much better. -- both cables. | :14:46. | :15:13.
He is just about OK. Straight on the red would have been better. The blue | :15:14. | :15:37.
is not too badly placed. Just this red and it is the perfect start for | :15:38. | :15:42.
Robert Milkins who I think has the best work on music. The whole crowd | :15:43. | :15:46.
started clapping. Mark stays in his seat. He was | :15:47. | :16:31.
unlucky when he got that heavy contact. Robert Milkins has reduced | :16:32. | :16:46.
his deficit to 7-3. He had to win the opening frame. I thought Mark | :16:47. | :16:49.
would make a frame-winning contribution and it was all going | :16:50. | :16:54.
along very nicely until this shot, he was just pushing through the reds | :16:55. | :16:59.
and if you get a kick it will go to the right of the pocket, but watch | :17:00. | :17:08.
this. It went to the opposite side. Absolutely amazing. It makes you | :17:09. | :17:14.
look silly. Look how far he has missed the pocket by just because of | :17:15. | :17:20.
that heavy contact. That is very frustrating for Mark Selby. We | :17:21. | :17:25.
talked about Robert Milkins targets for women, Mark Selby needs three of | :17:26. | :17:32.
the first four and the match is over. He will win if he gets this | :17:33. | :17:52.
over quickly. It is a long 17 days. If you can win a match with a little | :17:53. | :18:04.
bit to spare, it helps. That is not the best shot but I think he is just | :18:05. | :18:10.
OK. Had he have parted that he wouldn't have cannoned into the | :18:11. | :18:11.
other. These players have played each other | :18:12. | :19:50.
on seven occasions. It is five wins to Mark, two wins for Robert. The | :19:51. | :19:57.
only long match they play was back in 2006. Mark 110-4 of them. -- Mark | :19:58. | :20:05.
won the match 10-4. I heard in his interview there | :20:06. | :20:22.
before the match he said he is to know, it might be his last chance at | :20:23. | :20:28.
the Crucible. He is 40 years of age but if he keeps popping those he has | :20:29. | :20:39.
a few years left in him. That rate was much better shot than it looked. | :20:40. | :21:04.
That is not a bad little rescue part. This is why he is such a | :21:05. | :21:14.
dangerous opponent. He was away before it went in | :21:15. | :21:34.
because he knew he had got it. Such a difficult shot. I played him in | :21:35. | :21:49.
China in my last year and he was 4-0 up before I thought I had even put | :21:50. | :21:50.
ice in motoring. -- in my drink. As I mentioned above his work on | :21:51. | :22:16.
music, the song is called I am a cider drinker. | :22:17. | :22:27.
Perfectly played. Well judged. He got the correct side of the blue. | :22:28. | :22:48.
If he plays this next shot too hard he could knock the black slave. -- | :22:49. | :23:02.
safe. He has decided not to play the cannon. I cant believe he didn't | :23:03. | :23:06.
take you a shot on there. Good recovery because he thought he | :23:07. | :23:22.
had put himself out of position. This is how he started the match. | :23:23. | :23:52.
Then he had a terrible run it has to be said. Mark Selby just took over, | :23:53. | :24:02.
took control of the match. He can get to 68. Mark will need sneakers. | :24:03. | :24:29.
He has come up a little bit short now. You want to keep the white as | :24:30. | :24:52.
close as possible. He is hitting the ball sweetly this morning. He is out | :24:53. | :24:59.
on the black but the pink is there. -- not on the black. He has got a | :25:00. | :25:05.
real confidence boost from winning the first frame. | :25:06. | :25:23.
Had he have lost the first frame his head could have gone down and there | :25:24. | :25:31.
could have been a quick end to this match. He is just one red and white | :25:32. | :25:41.
collar away from beating Mark needing snookers. But he doesn't do | :25:42. | :25:44.
it. He was going to risk potting it and | :25:45. | :26:26.
just hoping for the pink. With this safety shot, Robert Wilkins will be | :26:27. | :26:35.
hoping that Mark makes a mistake. The 61 point advantage could | :26:36. | :26:38.
disappear very quickly if Mark gets a chance. | :26:39. | :26:50.
It has just tied the black up a little bit. | :26:51. | :27:04.
There is no easy path back to the safe zone here. He has defined the | :27:05. | :27:17.
gap. The cue ball is not going in but if he gets this end, have a look | :27:18. | :27:24.
at the table. The 61 point advantage could disappear quickly if this | :27:25. | :27:33.
works. The White will go toward the pink or the right middle pocket. Oh, | :27:34. | :27:43.
he has hit it too thick. Oh, he hasn't put a sticker, surely? You | :27:44. | :27:48.
cannot get your breath. That is so fortunate. That is what was | :27:49. | :27:56.
happening early on in the match. Once he has missed the pot, Mark | :27:57. | :27:59.
would have thought he has lost the frame. He just hates it too thick. | :28:00. | :28:19.
-- hits it. He can't come off the cushion and land on the red tape the | :28:20. | :28:22.
right of the black because the black is in the way. He might miss this | :28:23. | :28:29.
all together with the first attempt. No, he judged it well. He will be | :28:30. | :28:38.
relieved. He has pushed a red toward the | :28:39. | :29:10.
pocket so one could pot here and he has got his second frame. That will | :29:11. | :29:14.
do nicely. I think if you were practising with | :29:15. | :30:18.
Robert, you'd be dizzy. I went to the Grand Prix one-year and my head | :30:19. | :30:20.
was spinning. If Robert practices four or six | :30:21. | :30:50.
hours a day, he will play a lot of snooker in that time. | :30:51. | :31:17.
APPLAUSE He just looked over at Mark, he was | :31:18. | :31:27.
getting the ball is out of the pocket, Robert. The comeback | :31:28. | :31:35.
continues, but Mark Selby still leads 7-4. He certainly doesn't hang | :31:36. | :31:39.
about, does he? The best possible start for Robert. He is so fluent. | :31:40. | :31:48.
Stephen said the first player to perfect this shot, hit the screw | :31:49. | :31:57.
shot and open the pack. I think he thought he was out of position, then | :31:58. | :32:03.
he moved around and moved the red to the middle. That is frustrating | :32:04. | :32:06.
thing about playing Robert Milkins, gets out position quite a lot when | :32:07. | :32:16.
he is playing. At the end, helping the referee set the balls up, I | :32:17. | :32:24.
think you want to put Mark Selby out of his comfort zone. | :32:25. | :32:55.
Not a bad break-off shot. I say that because the red that's gone near the | :32:56. | :33:04.
cushion is in the way of the safety shot Dalmatin side of the table. -- | :33:05. | :33:13.
Dalmatin of that side. A touch of side so he doesn't hit that red. | :33:14. | :33:20.
He did hit it, but he hit it at the right side. Still got the white up | :33:21. | :33:32.
to the baulk line. See if the world number one can settle down, because | :33:33. | :33:37.
he since he had that heavy contact when he was in the balls, it's been | :33:38. | :33:39.
all Robert. A bit of a chance here, as you CV | :33:40. | :34:50.
success right. Robert Milkins ahead of Mark Selby. I tell you what, he | :34:51. | :34:56.
cued right above that. -- you can see the safety success rate. He hit | :34:57. | :35:00.
that very badly indeed. You expected Mark Selby to be well | :35:01. | :35:20.
ahead in the safety success rate, but Robert played some fantastic | :35:21. | :35:23.
safety yesterday. He just didn't score enough when he got in. | :35:24. | :35:36.
His highest break just 62. He could do with a sizeable break here. Like | :35:37. | :35:49.
he played in frame one. You see, that was a bit careless, wasn't it? | :35:50. | :35:53.
That is Robert Milkins in a nutshell, basically. He plays so | :35:54. | :35:59.
many of those careless positional shots. I would never say he needs to | :36:00. | :36:06.
slow down, because that's his natural game, you don't want to play | :36:07. | :36:09.
the way he -- don't want to change the way he plays, but... | :36:10. | :36:16.
Oh, well. Happy Christmas, what a result there. There are not many | :36:17. | :36:26.
players in the game who could create that kind of power from that | :36:27. | :36:30.
position. Look at the top spin. Yes, he deserved that. A little nudge on | :36:31. | :36:34.
the pink there. This is not what Mark Selby wanted | :36:35. | :37:25.
this morning. Obviously no fault of his own, the first frame, why he | :37:26. | :37:30.
lost it. But overnight this is the last thing he wanted, Robert Milkins | :37:31. | :37:35.
to get up a head of steam and build confidence. | :37:36. | :38:04.
Another... Three rates that are available? Possibly four. -- three | :38:05. | :38:15.
rates. If you watch Robert's bridge hand, his hand is a long way from | :38:16. | :38:25.
the cue ball. As you can see, there. It is just raw, natural talent, | :38:26. | :38:27.
that's what it is. 204 points now without a reply from | :38:28. | :38:52.
Mark. Yes, and it's taken about 15 minutes. | :38:53. | :39:13.
He might just be OK. Only a few pots away from securing a third frame. He | :39:14. | :39:20.
is flying at the moment. APPLAUSE He is nicknamed the Milkman. He | :39:21. | :39:40.
certainly has the fastest float in town. And then all of a sudden, as | :39:41. | :39:44.
Stephen said, he plays one like that. Securing the frame... At this | :39:45. | :39:54.
stage that and a colour and it was 3-0 in this mini-session. So | :39:55. | :40:00.
refreshing to watch, though. Players seem to take so much time to play | :40:01. | :40:05.
simple shots, walking round the table about three times. He just | :40:06. | :40:06.
gets on with it, so great to watch. Yes, that last safety shot of | :40:07. | :40:37.
Mark... That's where he wanted the cue ball. | :40:38. | :40:45.
Yes, Mark Selby, world number one, you don't get there without | :40:46. | :40:52.
experience and not panicking when you are in situations like this. | :40:53. | :40:58.
Although he is 7-4 up, it looks like 7-5. He needs to get a frame on the | :40:59. | :41:02.
board as soon as possible, to stop this. | :41:03. | :41:21.
Terrific pot. He needed at least the blue to leave Mark needing a | :41:22. | :41:37.
snooker. After potting a fantastic red he | :41:38. | :41:43.
misses a very comfortable brown. He missed his last attempt at a long | :41:44. | :42:05.
pot by a long way. Can he get this one? That's better. | :42:06. | :42:13.
Yeah, that was a beautiful shot. Stroked it in, lovely. | :42:14. | :43:01.
Landed a bit straight on this black. I don't know if those two reds pot. | :43:02. | :43:11.
He would like to be a bit higher on the black. | :43:12. | :43:33.
This is the key shot coming up here. Almost dead straight on this and is | :43:34. | :44:16.
having to use the rest. That was a very strangely played shot there. | :44:17. | :44:22.
The cue ball should have been much closer. To the left hand side | :44:23. | :44:24.
cushion. Brilliant. That is the pot of the | :44:25. | :44:42.
day so far. This is excellent, with the rest. I don't think he's come up | :44:43. | :44:51.
the table far enough, he will have to use a lot of right-hand side | :44:52. | :44:54.
here, or possibly even go round the table. It's a long way round, but | :44:55. | :44:59.
that's what he's attempting. He's not on the red, but he can play | :45:00. | :45:09.
these snooker. A pretty decent effort, wasn't it? If he is able to | :45:10. | :45:24.
lay the snooker behind the black, he's right back in this game. | :45:25. | :45:35.
He's played it poorly, needs to hit the yellow. And he has done. Because | :45:36. | :45:46.
he didn't get in behind the black. I was just watching Robert. He gave | :45:47. | :45:51.
Mark Selby Astaire as he walked around the table. Mark Selby didn't | :45:52. | :45:59.
know. -- gave Mark Selby a a stare. This could have been avoided, when | :46:00. | :46:06.
he needed the brown, he had plotted a fantastic red, he went for the | :46:07. | :46:11.
brown and left himself a difficult red. He could have gone for the | :46:12. | :46:17.
yellow, with the lead he had. Now, all of a sudden, he's maybe just | :46:18. | :46:21.
Well, this will be some shot, if he makes the angle. What a shot that | :46:22. | :46:40.
is. Great shot! That is as good a shot as you will ever see. Watch, he | :46:41. | :46:50.
hits this with loads of bottom. When it comes off the first cushion | :46:51. | :46:57.
bananas the cue ball, and angle that wasn't natural. A great shot. | :46:58. | :47:05.
Well, he's close to the cushion, but he only needs the red. If it's dead | :47:06. | :47:12.
straight, it's going to be very awkward. Is it dead straight? That's | :47:13. | :47:21.
the question. Oh, he cued that lovely. At a slight angle. He will | :47:22. | :47:30.
be pretty relieved, will Robert. Because he was in complete control | :47:31. | :47:34.
of this frame, and then all of a sudden, things changed. | :47:35. | :47:41.
It doesn't want to play the touch up, in case he lands short. He is | :47:42. | :47:50.
not happy with this. That is the shot to play. 35 the difference, | :47:51. | :48:00.
barring a couple of snookers, it's three in a row. | :48:01. | :48:09.
That was a great effort, there. Almost got a snooker back. Is this | :48:10. | :48:20.
hard enough? It looks good to me. APPLAUSE | :48:21. | :48:39.
Yeah... The yellows, safe. Mark hasn't conceded. -- the yellow has | :48:40. | :48:48.
gone safe. The balls are nicely placed for the | :48:49. | :49:24.
snookers that are required. Maybe Mark, as well as needing three | :49:25. | :49:32.
snookers, just keeping him on the table here to get him out of his | :49:33. | :49:33.
rhythm. There was one frame before when he | :49:34. | :49:43.
needed three snookers, Mark Selby. He has actually won four friends | :49:44. | :49:51.
here needing four snookers. I won't say who that was against, Dennis, | :49:52. | :49:56.
but not sitting too far away from you. Now he needs four snookers. You | :49:57. | :50:06.
lost a frame with your opponent needing four snookers, Stephen? I | :50:07. | :50:14.
don't believe that. It's OK, no one else will know. | :50:15. | :50:21.
Look at the action he got on that with the reverse side. He hardly hit | :50:22. | :50:29.
that. As you say, it is just natural, raw talent from Robert, a | :50:30. | :50:34.
treat to watch. This time Mark will stay in his seat. What a start for | :50:35. | :50:42.
Robert Milkins. He has played three and won three and closes the gap. It | :50:43. | :50:49.
is now 7-5. Well, did make it harder work | :50:50. | :50:54.
crimes, he dominated the frame and then let Mark of the hook a little | :50:55. | :50:59.
bit. No natural angle, if there was a natural angle you would hit brown | :51:00. | :51:03.
or yellow. He is going towards the centre pocket with a lot of angle. | :51:04. | :51:07.
It is like a trick shot. And doing the white around the brown. Look at | :51:08. | :51:12.
that, as it hits the cushion. That is as good an escape as you will | :51:13. | :51:16.
ever see. And of course there was one shot | :51:17. | :51:23.
where he had a bit of good fortune, but he deserved it. Almost dead | :51:24. | :51:27.
straight on the blue and the white jumps and comes off two cushions. | :51:28. | :51:33.
Stephen had a little laugh but said he deserved it. This is what happens | :51:34. | :51:37.
when you play with top spin. Look at that black and white Ball, what | :51:38. | :51:41.
happens. It stops, jumps in the air and all of a sudden it takes off. | :51:42. | :51:51.
Frame 13, Rob Milkins to break. Robert breaks off in what is now a | :51:52. | :51:59.
massive frame in this match. As long as Robert Milkins keeps | :52:00. | :52:23.
winning frames, he has that momentum, and that is so important | :52:24. | :52:27.
in long matches. Mark Selby, if he can just win this frame, it will | :52:28. | :52:29.
just stop him in his tracks. Just gone a little awkward here, | :52:30. | :53:25.
with the two reds tidying the black art. -- black up. | :53:26. | :53:36.
I was on the other table yesterday, but I watched some of this match. | :53:37. | :53:41.
Some of Robert's safety shots were top drawer. I wonder, is there a | :53:42. | :53:50.
possible plant on here. Those two reds... I wonder if they are in line | :53:51. | :53:52.
for the right corner. He just held up his hand to | :53:53. | :54:46.
apologise, I don't know what for... OK, he hit the blue... Nothing | :54:47. | :54:48.
available. And there again, top-class safety | :54:49. | :55:21.
from Robert Milkins. Shouldn't be a problem, coming off | :55:22. | :55:57.
two cushions and just playing on the three reds to the left of the black. | :55:58. | :56:11.
At first glance I don't think he's got any way to get back down the | :56:12. | :56:15.
table now, so a bit of a stalemate. Now, we could have a re-rack here if | :56:16. | :57:04.
they play a few more shots like this. Although,? Might want to | :57:05. | :57:14.
prolong this, to put Robert off his stride. There is no shot at the | :57:15. | :57:23.
moment. Stalemate. -- Mark might want to prolong this. | :57:24. | :57:31.
That might have helped the situation, the way he played it. It | :57:32. | :57:39.
was a clever little shot from Robert, just to stop the stalemate. | :57:40. | :58:00.
I think you might be able to run up the table this time, and then we | :58:01. | :58:05.
will be back to normal then. The way those reds are surrounding | :58:06. | :58:23.
the black... This time it's Mark who holds his | :58:24. | :58:49.
hand -- he's had a result there. How did | :58:50. | :59:04.
he get that white tight on that baulk cushion? | :59:05. | :59:10.
Do you think you were saying, well done, you were a little bit lucky | :59:11. | :59:37.
there? LAUGHTER Sends a little bit of needle in this | :59:38. | :59:57.
match. Nothing too severe. Just two contrasting styles. Guess, it's very | :59:58. | :00:04.
unusual for a player to say something to another player, | :00:05. | :00:10.
unless... You see it when they are smiling laughing, but there is no | :00:11. | :00:13.
smiling laughing going on. We will have to find out at the end what | :00:14. | :00:15.
Robert said. I remember I played it once and I | :00:16. | :00:44.
played a good safety shot and got a flick. | :00:45. | :01:03.
Eddie Charlton used to mutter things to you during a game. Meanwhile, | :01:04. | :01:17.
this is the sort of frame Mark Selby wanted. He is trying to get Milkins | :01:18. | :01:22.
out of his rhythm. What a scrappy frame. I have never | :01:23. | :01:54.
seen the ball is quite like this before. Look at the break they are | :01:55. | :01:58.
congregated around the black. It is very unusual. It is not the time to | :01:59. | :02:12.
say he should clear up from here. It is an important frame before the | :02:13. | :02:16.
mid-session interval. We talked about targets that you set yourself | :02:17. | :02:20.
and we were saying he would quite like to win the session 3-1. He has | :02:21. | :02:32.
every chance of winning all four. He has sprung and read out. If he is | :02:33. | :02:36.
not hampered by the blue, there is a chance here. | :02:37. | :02:59.
That was a good shot considering the amount of time they spent playing | :03:00. | :03:07.
safety shot. He looks in a mean mood this morning. It goes back to how | :03:08. | :03:22.
important the first frame was. If he had one of the frame, the match | :03:23. | :03:33.
could be over by now. Since then, it has been all Robert Milkins. He is | :03:34. | :03:43.
putting Mark Selby under extreme pressure now. | :03:44. | :04:07.
They were so awkwardly placed a few minutes ago and all of a sudden they | :04:08. | :04:13.
are starting to open up a little bit. It was all created by the | :04:14. | :04:19.
terrific read that Robert knocked in. He got onto the pink. It looks | :04:20. | :04:27.
natural angle to cannon the reds to the right of the black. He has | :04:28. | :04:34.
played that little touch shot really well. All events are covering each | :04:35. | :04:42.
other so he might have to play some top spin into the left-hand side to | :04:43. | :04:43.
go into the red here. That was a clever little shot | :04:44. | :05:00.
because it gives him a choice of two reds. | :05:01. | :05:11.
He looks very, very focused. A lot of noise from the other side of the | :05:12. | :05:21.
arena for the end of the frame. He hasn't batted an eyelid. He has that | :05:22. | :05:27.
expression on his face that says he means business. I think he has I am | :05:28. | :05:31.
not going to lose a frame face on. The reds are all blocking each other | :05:32. | :05:50.
to the right corner and they may not be far enough over. This is much | :05:51. | :06:05.
more difficult now. He needed to be high on the pink. He was just about | :06:06. | :06:14.
an inch or two short. I am sure he had a shot on there or he could have | :06:15. | :06:19.
plotted the pink of the side cushion and back over to the reds. He can | :06:20. | :06:32.
reach this. Once the game, the reds are all blocking each other so he | :06:33. | :06:37.
will have two come across the table this time. We know what cube power | :06:38. | :06:49.
he has. There might be want up into the corner. Unless the pink is | :06:50. | :06:54.
stopping it, so it will have two be the middle. | :06:55. | :07:10.
That could have been a frame when had it gone in. -- a winner. | :07:11. | :07:32.
Oh, if he drops on the Pinky has had a result. That is not bad. The two | :07:33. | :07:46.
reds on the black cushion, he could play for that. He could put the pink | :07:47. | :07:49.
in the left centre. Well played. The two reds that are | :07:50. | :08:17.
together next to the black, they are in the way of everything. There is a | :08:18. | :08:35.
chance for a counter attack here. Mark Selby is on form and scoring, | :08:36. | :08:41.
this could be a chance to win the frame, no doubt, but he has been | :08:42. | :08:43.
under a barrage from Robert Milkins. He will be looking at this as a | :08:44. | :09:03.
chance to win the frame. If he does when the frame, I think he will be | :09:04. | :09:13.
in a strong place. The mid-session interval is coming up. At 8-5 he | :09:14. | :09:25.
would be in the driving seat after break. At 7-6, it is and won's | :09:26. | :09:32.
match. -- and a one's. Three comfortably reds. Two reds | :09:33. | :09:56.
near the cushion. It is not a straightforward run to the winning | :09:57. | :09:57.
post in this frame. He is just going to sit there and | :09:58. | :10:29.
hope that something goes wrong with the two rather tricky reds left. | :10:30. | :11:36.
Got a bit of an angle here but it is always a risk when you try to move a | :11:37. | :11:44.
red when potting a read. He will probably leave that. He doesn't have | :11:45. | :11:51.
the ankle to do that anyway. The one along the cushion here behind the | :11:52. | :11:55.
black will be tricky. The other one is even more difficult. He is just | :11:56. | :12:07.
showing us why he is the current world number one. He lost three | :12:08. | :12:15.
frames in a row, was 44-0 down in this frame. The first tricky pot | :12:16. | :12:24.
coming up. And now an angle on the black. He brings the red into play | :12:25. | :12:30.
to drop in behind it would be difficult. He needs to move it. | :12:31. | :12:42.
Oh, it is a good shot to knock it off the cushion that it will be a | :12:43. | :12:47.
difficult shot to secure the frame. He is looking at the angle to the | :12:48. | :13:21.
far right corner. Nowhere near it. As he left it? Maybe he should have | :13:22. | :13:33.
took your advice. I think he called the right shot. | :13:34. | :13:50.
Perhaps he is getting desperate to get a frame on the board. He got a | :13:51. | :13:59.
slight pad contact but that has nothing to do with how much he | :14:00. | :14:06.
missed the pot by. He has got to make sure he doesn't snooker himself | :14:07. | :14:17.
on the green. The tricky bit is getting nicely on the brown to get | :14:18. | :14:26.
on the blue, to get to the pink. A lot of pressure on this little | :14:27. | :14:27.
clearance. He has dropped it in a dead weight. | :14:28. | :14:49.
It is there. What a performance. Unbelievable. Mark Selby got a cake | :14:50. | :15:26.
on the first frame and it cost them, but after that it was all Robert | :15:27. | :15:32.
Milkins. For in a row, get him to just one frame behind. 7-6 to Mark | :15:33. | :15:40.
Selby, the game is definitely on. I spoke to a lot of fans and they all | :15:41. | :15:44.
thought it would be all over this morning and that Mark Selby would | :15:45. | :15:48.
because it is in the second round early on. The milkman is certainly | :15:49. | :15:53.
delivering. We are on the mid-session interval so we will | :15:54. | :15:57.
focus on another match involving a former world champion, Neil | :15:58. | :16:00.
Robertson is taking on Michael Holt. We know he is a mass of Chelsea fan, | :16:01. | :16:10.
but does he like other sports? I would have to say Michael Jordan. I | :16:11. | :16:14.
used to love basketball growing up in Australia. Cathy Freeman winning | :16:15. | :16:20.
the gold at the Sydney Olympics, that was a pretty incredible moment | :16:21. | :16:25.
for Australian sport. Football, the atmosphere and the grounds is | :16:26. | :16:28.
incredible. On my last Day of school I turned up for PE and then I went | :16:29. | :16:39.
to my dad's club to practice. The Crucible is my favourite place to | :16:40. | :16:44.
play. The code is so close, when it gets down to the one-table set-up, | :16:45. | :16:53.
there is no better place to snooker. If I am not wearing my hat, quite | :16:54. | :17:02.
often it would be Joe Perry, Mike Davis. My most embarrassing moment | :17:03. | :17:09.
was when I forgot my shoes. I bought a terrible pair of shoes and lost | :17:10. | :17:14.
the first session 8-0. The shoes were really uncomfortable. If I was | :17:15. | :17:19.
still based in the UK I would like to stay involved in the game, doing | :17:20. | :17:29.
commentary, maybe some coaching. You are always welcome in the commentary | :17:30. | :17:31.
box. Just the one win over Neil Robertson | :17:32. | :17:48.
in a qualifier for the China open in 2000. We will pick up the action in | :17:49. | :17:52.
frame one. World leading by 26 points on a break of 41. He has | :17:53. | :18:04.
missed the black. How many times do we see that, a player concentrating | :18:05. | :18:09.
that much to developing the next ball to forget the pot. Was he | :18:10. | :18:17.
putting a little bit of right-hand side on? I think so. It is | :18:18. | :18:23.
unexpected because he has looked very fluent so far. Peter was | :18:24. | :18:29.
mentioning about the superfine cloth. Players play with side on | :18:30. | :18:39.
that, particularly on parts, if you put a trace of side and just hit the | :18:40. | :18:43.
ball firmer than you wanted, the side will push the cue ball away | :18:44. | :18:48.
from its intended target. You put right-hand side on their and hit it | :18:49. | :18:59.
a little too hard what a chance he let go. It'll be a tall order for | :19:00. | :19:10.
need to win the frame this visit. The way the blue and pink. There is | :19:11. | :19:18.
a chance that blue could now come to the rescue of Michael Holt. | :19:19. | :19:30.
The only thing we always say when the polls are on that side, it will | :19:31. | :19:33.
suit a left-hander. He has got plenty of options here. | :19:34. | :19:55.
Providing he can find the right angle on the brown, obviously. He | :19:56. | :20:00.
could play to disturb the blue and pink, but he also has the option of | :20:01. | :20:06.
dropping behind the blue and if he gets a perfect angle he can play the | :20:07. | :20:11.
blue but hardly any weight at all to what the pocket and leave himself on | :20:12. | :20:17.
the pink. Or he could pot the blue and develop the pink. It depends | :20:18. | :20:23.
what sort of ankle he gets on the ground. -- the brown. He is worried | :20:24. | :20:31.
about falling out of the pink or the blue. People forget the yellow | :20:32. | :20:42.
slightly. -- he over it. Ideally what he would have liked to play is | :20:43. | :20:48.
to play for the brown in the opposite corner he will play it now. | :20:49. | :20:57.
This brown will put him four points behind, so he is going to need blue, | :20:58. | :21:01.
pink and black to clinch the frame. I think it is very risky if he does | :21:02. | :21:27.
decide to attempt to move the blue and pink in this shot because if he | :21:28. | :21:32.
was really unlucky he could cannon into the blue and snooker himself | :21:33. | :21:40.
behind the pink. It will be interesting to see how he goes about | :21:41. | :21:45.
this. He has decided to play bad shot and he has gone into the cue | :21:46. | :21:56.
ball with far too much pace. It looks like a snooker. | :21:57. | :22:08.
We said it would be a tall order but advantage it needed at the moment, | :22:09. | :22:19.
you would think. -- advantage Neil Robertson. You wouldn't think he | :22:20. | :22:29.
would leave this blue if it hits it. Hit it well. An opportunity here to | :22:30. | :22:48.
lay the snooker behind the black. I don't think that is hard enough. Now | :22:49. | :22:58.
then. Will mark old attempt to double? -- Mark Wood. | :22:59. | :23:29.
If he does take the double on, there is a chance he could lead the pink | :23:30. | :23:36.
into the right-hand black pocket. He decided against it. That was a good | :23:37. | :23:46.
shot because there is every chance now that Neil Robertson will be | :23:47. | :23:54.
developing the pink. He had the option of applying this with lots of | :23:55. | :23:59.
left-hand side in order to develop the pink and get the cue ball behind | :24:00. | :24:02.
the black. He does have a fee options here. -- a few options here. | :24:03. | :24:11.
That would leave Michael Holt in a lot of trouble here. Neil didn't | :24:12. | :24:25.
play that very well, did he? You would think he would have to take | :24:26. | :24:29.
the double. Blue and pink needed for the first frame. In the end he | :24:30. | :24:40.
decided to play the snooker. Thought he was guaranteed that. | :24:41. | :24:55.
Michael Holt will be the big favourite now. | :24:56. | :25:08.
Now, where will the cue ball finish? That is end of frame now for me. He | :25:09. | :25:23.
will take the pink which will count as a blue. Neil Robertson has had a | :25:24. | :25:26.
couple of chances and didn't make the most of them. In those who pink. | :25:27. | :25:37.
That puts him 13 points in front. This blue will put him 18 points in | :25:38. | :25:49.
front. That very intelligent snooker that Michael decided to play on the | :25:50. | :25:54.
blue there, refusing the double, it paid dividends. Very impressive, | :25:55. | :26:02.
well thought out. 19 points, the lead now. | :26:03. | :26:15.
A very interesting first frame. Michael Holt will be glad to get it | :26:16. | :26:21.
under his belt. Neil Robertson had chances, with negative, Michael Holt | :26:22. | :26:31.
leads the world number 41-0. An excellent start from Michael Holt. | :26:32. | :26:35.
That show you what happened in frame two. Michael Holt is back at the | :26:36. | :26:42.
table meeting 16-9. Black available into both corners. Enough reds | :26:43. | :26:51.
nicely spread. He will be disappointed if he doesn't make this | :26:52. | :26:58.
a frame-winning contribution. Michael really does need to keep his | :26:59. | :27:04.
concentration now because sometimes, when the top player miss balls | :27:05. | :27:09.
unexpectedly, your own level of concentration can go down and that | :27:10. | :27:13.
is what Michael needs to be very wary of now because he will be | :27:14. | :27:18.
shocked, to be honest, that need has missed if you chances so far. This | :27:19. | :27:23.
is a chance for Michael to keep his concentration levels are very high | :27:24. | :27:29.
and push on. He should punish me for the mistakes he has made. Neil is | :27:30. | :27:33.
looking quite uncomfortable in his seat at the moment. It has not been | :27:34. | :27:37.
the best of starts for him this morning. He will need to regroup and | :27:38. | :27:42.
get his thoughts attuned to being very positive. | :27:43. | :27:53.
He needs to be in the right state of mind to take his opportunities when | :27:54. | :27:57.
they come along, if they come along. This is a new one, rolling his | :27:58. | :28:32.
sleeve up. I was almost expecting to see a logo on his forum. | :28:33. | :28:59.
It is OK, he is back in a perfect position now. Just one or two | :29:00. | :29:08.
positional shots, through no fault of his own. Back in perfect position | :29:09. | :29:16.
now. The frame is his mercy. -- at his mercy. | :29:17. | :30:08.
54 points the lead. Just looking for another red and a colour. | :30:09. | :30:18.
No problem. This black to go 62 points in front, with just 59 | :30:19. | :30:31.
remaining. Took them well. OK, needed two opportunities, with in | :30:32. | :30:38.
first in this frame and missed an easy red, but wasn't punished by new | :30:39. | :30:44.
Robinson. It's a nice feeling when you know you've had a chance, you've | :30:45. | :30:49.
missed an easy red, and it doesn't cost you the frame. -- Neil | :30:50. | :30:58.
Robertson. Not way is easy to put it out your mind, and not dwell on it. | :30:59. | :31:06.
That Mr red early on for Michael Holt could have cost him, and would | :31:07. | :31:11.
be thinking about it for a few frames, but he can forget about it | :31:12. | :31:19.
now and just remember he took this frame with the second opportunity. A | :31:20. | :31:25.
possibility of a century, but needs a good shot off the brown. | :31:26. | :31:30.
Is a double, yes, beautiful. Got the perfect angle now on the pink. | :31:31. | :31:58.
This would be a real settler, I've always said, I don't care who you | :31:59. | :32:05.
are, when you come into a tournament you just want to show people you can | :32:06. | :32:11.
play. A century settles you and shows the audience you mean | :32:12. | :32:16.
business. Absolutely. But unfortunately not to be. That was a | :32:17. | :32:24.
pity, but he won't mind that. He needed two chances, but he got them, | :32:25. | :32:29.
because as Peter says, Neil Robertson not settled yet and he | :32:30. | :32:32.
trails 2-0. You don't need to remind me we have | :32:33. | :32:37.
already lost a smattering of world champions. Are we about to lose | :32:38. | :32:41.
another one? Too early to say but a great performance this morning from | :32:42. | :32:44.
Michael Holt. Don't forget, you can follow that match on the red button, | :32:45. | :32:51.
where you can catch all the latest news and live coverage. The players | :32:52. | :32:55.
have had their mid-session interval. Mark Selby, interestingly, came in | :32:56. | :33:00.
here in the mid-session interval, under the practice table. Doesn't | :33:01. | :33:04.
look happy at all. We thought it might have been an early finish | :33:05. | :33:08.
today, only needing three frames to get through to the next round, but | :33:09. | :33:13.
Robert Milkins has rattled off four frames and looks in the groove. What | :33:14. | :33:18.
a first performance this morning, Dennis Taylor? Absolutely. We've | :33:19. | :33:26.
seen it so many times, he could have done without an interval, the way he | :33:27. | :33:31.
was playing. Sometimes it can change things. That's what Mark Selby will | :33:32. | :33:32.
be hoping for. Yes, interesting to see if Robert | :33:33. | :33:41.
can keep up what he's been doing this morning. Sometimes when you are | :33:42. | :33:49.
7-2 down you start to relax, you think you are so far behind, you | :33:50. | :33:54.
throw caution to the wind, but now he has a chance of winning and the | :33:55. | :33:58.
pressure will be back on him. Look at the pot success rate, 85% for | :33:59. | :34:02.
Mark and 94 for Robert. The biggest surprise, I suppose, in | :34:03. | :34:18.
the match so far, is the safety success rate. Have a look at that. | :34:19. | :34:23.
Out playing Mark Selby, one of the greatest tacticians in the game. | :34:24. | :34:39.
This stat here, Dennis, is very interesting. Mark Selby, 41 send | :34:40. | :34:58.
long pot success. That is very low. I suppose this shot will be classed | :34:59. | :35:03.
as a long pot, because he is so far away from it. I expect him to sneak | :35:04. | :35:05.
this one in. He's not getting the run of the ball | :35:06. | :35:18.
at the moment, only a snooker available to him. Not a very | :35:19. | :35:25.
favourable kiss on the brown. I think you might be able... He can | :35:26. | :35:30.
certainly get to the red behind the back. -- the black. He can't nestle | :35:31. | :35:36.
into the right side of the pack because he would leave the red on. | :35:37. | :35:41.
Can he see enough of the cushion, the middle pocket, to skip to the | :35:42. | :35:44.
one I mention? Might be too close to the yellow to do that. | :35:45. | :35:51.
I don't know how close he is to the yellow, but that is the escape | :35:52. | :35:58.
route. If we went into the left side of the pack, he could leave a red | :35:59. | :36:00.
on, also. That looks pretty good. Yes, nicely | :36:01. | :36:18.
judged. He's looked so relaxed this morning. | :36:19. | :36:45.
He's kept that same expression on his face all the way through. | :36:46. | :36:56.
A bit of noise. Players have finished the mid-session interval -- | :36:57. | :37:35.
have started the mid-session interval on the other table. | :37:36. | :37:40.
Spectators going out to get a coffee and stretch their legs. | :37:41. | :37:48.
I remember in the early days, Stephen, when they used to come | :37:49. | :37:56.
here, 1977. You would be among the spectators, up at the back watching. | :37:57. | :38:00.
There was no players rooms or anything in those days. You used to | :38:01. | :38:03.
mingle with the crowd. Another example of Robert Milkins | :38:04. | :39:02.
outplaying Mark Selby in the safety Department. In a bit of trouble | :39:03. | :39:04.
here. He did well to find that gap. But | :39:05. | :39:35.
Robert, he's such an attacking player, he might take this on. He | :39:36. | :39:40.
will have no idea where the cue ball is going to finish. There is a bit | :39:41. | :39:44.
of a gap, but he would have to be so precise to pot the red. There is the | :39:45. | :39:56.
little gap, and there's no room there whatsoever. So, if he takes | :39:57. | :40:00.
on, he has to pot this and just let the white go where ever it is going | :40:01. | :40:10.
to go. That's a better shot. He can see the little gap, if he was to pot | :40:11. | :40:13.
this. Got the perfect picture there. Didn't find the gap, but he got | :40:14. | :40:23.
himself out of trouble. I say he got himself out of trouble, he is | :40:24. | :40:24.
snookered. Don't know if he can sneak the | :40:25. | :40:38.
black. Might not even be able to do that. He can hit the black with a | :40:39. | :40:45.
very thin one... Swerving round the red. This is awkward. | :40:46. | :40:55.
You can see how tight it is when there are two players, the players | :40:56. | :41:16.
and the referee getting tangled up there. | :41:17. | :41:33.
Can't remember the match, but I remember last year some got tangled | :41:34. | :41:42.
up with the referee and knocked all the water over. | :41:43. | :41:48.
The referee for this match, a good, old Sheffield boy. One of the top | :41:49. | :41:57.
referees, has been for a number of years now. | :41:58. | :42:44.
A bit too thin this time. The white is coming back up past the blue. | :42:45. | :43:08.
A possible red on, but not easy to get nicely on to colour. | :43:09. | :43:20.
Almost straight, having to screw back for the blue. | :43:21. | :43:48.
Not a lot to play behind, with the yellow and green off their spots and | :43:49. | :43:52.
the brown near the cushion. The target is just to play it down | :43:53. | :44:07.
towards the brown and hope you get it close to the cushion. Locked off | :44:08. | :44:13.
the escape route down the right side of the table. But that's given Mark | :44:14. | :44:22.
something to think about here. Not a straight forward safety shot. | :44:23. | :44:29.
The black slightly in the way if he was to play off the reds and go down | :44:30. | :44:34.
that side of the table. Well, he's caught the black, but the | :44:35. | :44:44.
right side of it. Very unusual, just one colour on its | :44:45. | :46:34.
bought, so early in a frame. -- on its spot. There are never two | :46:35. | :46:51.
frames identical, it's amazing. That looped bridge with the stop | :46:52. | :47:08.
Dick Makro. They call it the loop. That put the yellow in a better | :47:09. | :48:19.
position to get in behind. Keep the noise down, please, thank | :48:20. | :48:49.
you. The referee just asking them to keep the noise down, as they come | :48:50. | :48:55.
back in, playing on the other table. That match. Shortly. A half chances. | :48:56. | :49:07.
Joss travelled a little bit too far. -- just travelled. Been very fluent | :49:08. | :49:18.
with them long pots. It's amazing, he's played so well | :49:19. | :49:32.
but I think that is the third or fourth blue like that he's missed in | :49:33. | :49:36.
this match. We saw him miss a few yesterday. | :49:37. | :49:42.
Yes, he was a fair way out with that one. | :49:43. | :49:53.
Not straightforward, this positional shot, for Mark Selby. Don't know if | :49:54. | :50:00.
the pink spot is available. He's having a good look. A few reds to | :50:01. | :50:09.
the left of the pink. He might play for one of those. Can he screw back | :50:10. | :50:16.
and can in the red that side of the pink? No. Foul. That was always the | :50:17. | :50:25.
danger, the left middle pocket is always there. Yes, it wasn't a | :50:26. | :50:35.
natural angle to screw back. Caught the red and send it toward that | :50:36. | :50:39.
middle pocket. Now a chance to get in behind that yellow. He hasn't hit | :50:40. | :50:46.
it as he intended, but it's going to be safe. He was trying to swing it | :50:47. | :50:48.
behind the yellow. That certainly scattered the balls | :50:49. | :51:45.
around. Still very awkward, the reds are nicely placed, but the blue... | :51:46. | :51:55.
He's thinking to himself, if I can get onto the blue here... And if he | :51:56. | :52:01.
doesn't get on the blue, the yellow is over that left corner. But worth | :52:02. | :52:05.
having a go to get on the blue. He's not come far enough. It says -- it | :52:06. | :52:18.
is a Long yellow. He would have loved to have travelled a few more | :52:19. | :52:19.
inches and take the blue. I was just going to say, it's a | :52:20. | :52:36.
difficult shot to get back up the table from the yellow. But potted in | :52:37. | :52:45.
the left, and look where he finished. Bet he couldn't do that | :52:46. | :52:50.
again. If this red is straight up to the corner he will take it on, but | :52:51. | :52:55.
if there is an angle into the reds and pink... It's not straight, so he | :52:56. | :53:03.
can't really take it on. Looking at the red to the left of the pink. He | :53:04. | :53:07.
would love to play that to the centre and stun the pink to the | :53:08. | :53:14.
corner. He's gone to your shot choice. A choice of two... I think | :53:15. | :53:20.
he's going to take a pot on that. It's just which one he fancies more. | :53:21. | :53:27.
Or is he going to take a pot on? He doesn't have to. Let's have a look | :53:28. | :53:31.
at what the angle is. He can see that one, it's the other one... | :53:32. | :53:38.
But you're right, he's dying to take that one on that's next to the pink. | :53:39. | :53:45.
But he would have do get it because he would be leaving the one to the | :53:46. | :53:50.
right of the black. If this is straight, will take it up into the | :53:51. | :53:52.
corner. He knows he hit that well. Yeah, no problem without red, it was | :53:53. | :54:05.
the easier pot. But the positional play wasn't good. He has the cue | :54:06. | :54:10.
power to come back down. This is not an easy shot. Where as the red in | :54:11. | :54:16.
the middle was more difficult but gave better position. He has made it | :54:17. | :54:18.
look easy. He's hit that too well, believe it | :54:19. | :54:32.
or not. And that's top spin again. He really does generate lots of | :54:33. | :54:37.
power, or whether he's screwing back or following through. Will he | :54:38. | :54:41.
managed to sneak this in? When for the blue, and in the end | :54:42. | :54:58.
didn't take a good enough look at the potting angle. | :54:59. | :55:20.
That was a bit better, the pot. It probably looked easy on your screen | :55:21. | :55:29.
but when you are 7-2 ahead and then 7-6, means Mark Selby is under | :55:30. | :55:37.
extreme pressure at the moment. Desperate to get a frame on the | :55:38. | :55:41.
board. To gain an advantage in this match. Yes, Stephen, it's time for | :55:42. | :55:46.
the world number one to go to work, it really is. | :55:47. | :55:59.
The pink must be tight. Had a look at it from both ends. | :56:00. | :56:17.
Yes, played for the middle. The pink into the corner. Must've been very | :56:18. | :56:24.
tight indeed. He gets down on the shot well, Mark | :56:25. | :56:38.
Selby. He's quite a tall player, well over six feet tall, but he | :56:39. | :56:42.
stands and gets down nicely on the shot. Reminds me bit of John Paul | :56:43. | :56:55.
Merton, -- Pullman, a former world champion. He was a similar height. | :56:56. | :57:02.
He may be forced to play the black Hill. -- here. | :57:03. | :57:09.
One of those shortly played before that was similar, round the table, | :57:10. | :57:16.
three cushions round the back of the yellow. A choice of at least three | :57:17. | :57:28.
reds to the corner. There it goes, round the back of the yellow, and | :57:29. | :57:33.
he's missed the blue as well. A good shot that. | :57:34. | :58:11.
We are out of time on BBC Two, but coverage of this match continues on | :58:12. | :58:18.
the red button. If you want Neil Robertson against Michael Holt, that | :58:19. | :58:22.
is available on the BBC sport website, connected televisions and | :58:23. | :58:29.
BBC sport app. Hazel will be back at 1pm with further coverage, as we | :58:30. | :58:35.
concentrate on Mark Allen against Mitchell Mann. | :58:36. | :58:38. |
