84. 89. This could be the eighth century at the Crisil for him this

year. -- the Crucible. To be perfectly honest, he could not have

played that better. His family are very happy, and rightly so, because

he just lost three on the trot but he claims them with a century. I

could never replicated the support I had that week, added sort of come

from nowhere. Everyone was on my side, the fans were with me and I

felt everyone was supporting me that they. This is not a straightforward

safety shot. That was a danger, he was trying to hit it through the

gap. He has left it. He might miss the kiss on the black in the pink on

It looked a certainty to roll it through, but he has decided to track

to run it through, he is hit that cue ball too low below centre. I'm

sure he will take on the pink here, but this is not easy. APPLAUSE.

67 remaining. To really put the frame to Baird he needs to pot this

red. Put the frame to Baird. Judd Trump with a two frame

advantage. The lead is now 74. John Higgins will not be coming back to

the table, he will be disappointed with the way he has performed in the

first four frames. I agree. Think tonight his plan, John Higgins,

would have been to have a lead going into it, but now he has some

problems. There been some we would expect John Higgins to take, but is

expect John Higgins to take, but he's not done so.

kissed the blue, he would have had in stick at. That was a clever

shot, look where he put the cue ball, every chance of getting the

snooker. The blue, he would have had the snooker there. It would be a big

shock for John Higgins to take on, but he may just do that. He could

take on frame. A long way off, he needs the black to come to his

rescue, he needs the red to pull up. This is a tough cut in, a very thin

shot. He hasn't easy safety, he is coming around to look at the angle.

This time to make your mind up, it is a straightforward safety shot but

we know what he is like. APPLAUSE. What a shot that is. He is quite a

long, straight green, a tricky brown, he has looked at them both

and it is the green that will give him better position. APPLAUSE.

He played an excellent position shot, odious Mr that. -- though he

has missed that. He has got a massive target to get to the cue

ball behind the blue and brown. Has it landed? Yes, the Eagle has

landed. That you see it. Easy to escape, but can he get it safe? A

lot of attention in the final frame of this session, it is so

important. Were this young man be three in front? Will really be one

behind the green as well are, but that will do. We are looking at one

of the greatest potters I've ever seen, but to take that on? It is not

a big pocket. He will have two play the cushion first, no way it will go

the green it is worth taking it on, but I think you may play the yellow

towards the black. Will be quite hard. So much so, played the other

way around. This is a very clever shot. He nearly got there.

moment, John Higgins needs to be yellow, green, blue, brown, Inc and

the black. Judd Trump needs yellow, green, and brown. And that is a

mistake, he will be fortunate he hits that a bit thinner. He

apologises, he missed that one completely but has got away with at

this time. That tells you that he did miss that

one, but got away with it. A few minutes away from five hours.

Four days of play. (CHEERING AND APPLAUSE). He taps the table in

acknowledgement of his skill. Showing his appreciation to his

frame lead. An exhibition shot to finish. He has won the session 6-3.

Higgins has it all to do tomorrow. I was looking back to the frames, he

did not think that had a chance. He was playing good. He says, I know

that. I said to myself, just how good he was playing. He has never

been in that position to try to win the world title. I knew if I could

coming macro, the second day and put up my game a little bit, I felt I

could have pulled him blowback. Higgins made the perfect start,

taking the opening frame of the third session with a knock of 59.

Here he is at the table in the next. Another classic example of why this

game is so great. John has missed, a strange game.

A very tough situation, the blue is an open play. Could he get top side

of the blue quickly and bring pink into play. This is the key shot,

needs to get high on the blue. His interesting shot was the first

one. I'd thought he would play brown on the yellow. He is going for the

blue instead. He needs to get a good angle on the blue. He has an angle

if he wants to risk playing a screw into the pack to go tops on the

blue. Has not got there. Good news, a loose red. Hopefully

this time he will get the angle and screw up hyena. Get the angle on the

blue. Again, three goes he has had. This time he is really short. Induct

taking the green, here. That is how short he is. He missed the cut is on

the green, not straightforward, has he missed the green, he has? That is

a good shot. The White took off after he hit the third caution.

Watch the cue ball. Before the caution, took off again. Beautifully

struck. Shows you how important it is to get top side of the blue. He

had three tries to get top side. That is how much hard work it is

when you don't get it right. I don't know whether he can screw

that to get top side of the blue. He may play into the bunch. He could

play a screw to get back onto the blue, if he plays it thick he will

catch the edge of the pack. The angle is very tricky. Trying to

get top side of the blue. He has got there this time. Probably gone a

little too far for comfort. His fur -- fourth go at getting on the blue

properly. Better than the other. At last. Played beautifully. He did not

smash those to smithereens this time. Played with more control.

Could not hit that any better. In our he looked a little shaky in

the first round this afternoon. He will settle down if he makes a

frame winning contribution with this one. Hitting these very positively.

A series of stuns and screws. Takes the pink. Has not got much work to

do with the cue ball. He has to leave an angle on the blue or pink.

The black can't pot into the top left-hand pocket, leave it for the

blue. The shot from the blue to those four reads will be the key.

Although once this goes in... It is all over.

I do think he has had some good fortune, fluting a red in the first

round. He has then got a sizeable lead. He then played a poor pot but

got away with that. That has come from Johnny Higgins's must. We have

to give him credit for this. He could never have played snooker

under this pressure. His contribution to this has been

brilliant. This is superb, isn't it? A couple

of half chances in the opening frame. He has taken him so

beautifully. But serves you better than getting a frame early,

especially in this section. Its a chance to take the lead at the

Crucible. This will be possibly his 10th century.

Just get on the blue, no tricks, this time. No tricks is, this time!

Goodness me. He made sure of that. 104. For this pink.

A fantastic performance. Judd Trump did what he had to do to get a frame

on the board quickly. I did not think this final would be

so good. I'm really excited at the prospect of what could happen. Both

players hitting the ball really nicely.

He was planning to play that cannon. He needs to get rid of the red and

the one next to it. Pockets will then become available. That is what

he is trying to do. Has to be careful with this one, not overhit

it. If he is slightly overheating, he will not be on the black and the

pink is not available. That is fine. A lovely touch. Very difficult when

you are using the cue extension. Well played and a cannon to the red

about the black. -- above. This for the third time, this morning. A

chance of a frame in proportion, the Bulls are perfect. The only thing

that worries me is not winning the frame at one visit. He has to do

that to get any chance in this match. -- balls. Once he plots this

red, the black is available. This is a great chance.

As he be slightly hampering his cue. He had to play the cannon

there, becoming a little awkward. Can you get your cue enough on the

ball to dig down on that. If you can't it will curse the red. He is

slightly out of the woods, needing one more good shot and he is

perfect, again. This is much better from John. He

knows the importance of this opening session for the afternoon. He knows

the importance he has to show his opponent he can score heavily when

he gets as opportunities. Nothing gets your opponent more confidence

than seeing they will not punish you enough. Huygens is looking for a 3-1

to get back into the game. John would be happy with tall. Looking

like that will not be the equation. This two to label his highest break

through -- so far in this match but looks like there are plenty more to

come. -- level. If you had told me, he would play another world final

with his highest frame breaking at 64, I would never have relieved it.

The Crucible crowd know when a frame ball is potted. As usual. Having a

glance at the scoreboard, if he takes blacks with remaining reds, he

can beat the high break by one. You can bet your life, he will be

trying. He has already thought about it, that is why he has screwed over

for this red. Played to perfection. Correct angle

on the red to get on the black. Needs a half ball black to get

behind the reds in the opposite corner.

The fact he can play this with check side to widen the angle, I can fancy

him knocking this one out. You cannot believe! He breaks down at

97. He has clawed his way back to two behind.

Trump is losing a frame to zero, the first time in the final. He has not

part of the ball and any frame. Only three times has he failed to pot a

ball. This frame is massive. Played that very confidently. How well has

he hit that? He has played half a drag shop, beautifully controlled.

Killed the white. -- shot. Is he on one? That this type, may be able to

flex some side on it full top. He turned that over too much. Well

played! That did not pot. He had to play the lower left-hand side to get

the White to turn over on the clock. I thought for a second, he had to

mark. -- too much. He has played low on this because he has the bottom

red of the pack. He can open up the reds here. This is just what you

don't want when you want to win a frame, the black is tough. Very well

done. On one in the middle if he is not on one in the corner. That used

to be tough, Willy. His mid to long-range potting was

exceptional. Write to the heart of the pocket. Playing with such

confidence. Again slightly under hit. If he does

have an Achilles heel, whenever he is running through, he hits ball

quite often. Has to flick off the red again. Well done.

As to make sure he passes the red. If he had finished behind that he

would have been on nothing but played that beautifully.

Considering the circumstances and there's being the biggest day of his

life, he is not half well hitting the ball, here. Nothing fazes him at

the minute. This is very impressive. He played a little

cannon on the reds to hold the white. The only problem with that

shot, it could leave unhampered. Read colour, red to take the frame.

Then he can concentrate on getting high high break. He got through that

very nicely. Very easy to under hit those. He hit that one well.

The standard is remarkable. Higgins, 97 and 59. Trump, 107 and this. Does

not get any better than this? The fact he is left-handed, the red

on the left-hand side is a problem. But he does play a lot right-handed,

he could pot with his right hand. He is not just playing for one red, he

is playing for all three. Give himself options, that is what he has

to do. Underfoot slightly. Here's a look at the scoreboard. He is

asking? 138? He has some room, he cannot afford another blue.

He has lost the cue ball slightly but you would still expect him to

pot this. Surely is not thinking of moving the red off the. Unluckily.

He deserves a century. I hope trying to get on this last red, he pops the

ball. What a shame! What a fabulous break from Trump, he won frame 19

whether 100 and 20. He wins frame 20 with 99. He goes three heard again

at 12-9. -- ahead. Not often he takes this long over a shot, two

minutes thinking time, can't blame him, though.

Could there be a big turning point in this final? -- that.

He hasn't got into that. He did not do that very well. A sign of

tension. He is popping, it is tough out there at the moment for John.

Badly needing this frame. A lot of margin for error and he under screws

it. Where is the black dying? That will

do very nicely. -- dying. A brave shot on the pink to cannon the black

over the pocket, what a bonus. Judd's difficult blue his cost him.

He closes to two behind. 12-10. How costly with the blue be for the

youngster. He has to get that out of his mind. He is 35 points in front.

We are getting less to the end, and we can expect the players to make

mistakes. -- hitting closer to the end.

This is a chance for John Higgins, it will be interesting to see what

he makes of this opportunity. John is moving the red that caused

problems for Judd Trump. A pot on the black with that read -- red. Do

you think in close control, John Higgins is fine, but he struggles

with a longer part? -- longer pot? He hasn't quite got the angle.

25. Either way he will probably play for the green. It is the easy part

of the two. He can play for the single red, but he has a bit of an

ankle on the green, but not a lot. The next positional shot is the key

to the frame, as long as the fall red for all -- the four read a roll

. He has played for the pink, but has it got to the angle to just

nudged at least one red into play? It is not bad, but it depends on the

pace with which he hits it. If he hits it too hard or not. APPLAUSE.

That is not bad 35. It is level, and as you say all of those red in

pottable positions, that open up the frame. 36.

This was the tough shot, not so many of them is getting in. But these

last couple friends, you have to say that John Higgins has had a better

run of the ball. Nothing wrong with that, it usually evens itself out

over the course of a long match. Just spotted something on the cue

ball there, a glance at the scoreboard to make sure what he

needs. That black box and 24 points in

front. -- that black puts him 34 points in front. This is to go 31

points in front, with just 27 remaining. APPLAUSE. 66.

The fifth frame was the last time there was just one frame separating

these two players, that is the situation we are now, just one frame

the difference. Absolutely nothing wrong with John Higgins's a game

when he is in close control. Yes he was given the opportunity, but you

still have two pot the ball is. This is a good performance from John

Higgins. 80. Good performance, Judd Trump will be

dreading the blue! The blue cost in the last frame!

was possible! That was not easy by any means, it was a brilliant

opening pot and he was a bit unlucky. He can and the brown and

just overcut that. The chance now forced to John Higgins. -- now falls

to John Higgins. I wonder if that is a mistake, it does not go past the

brown. If it does, that will come to his rescue. Look at that, no

problem. APPLAUSE. Six. Just at the moment, the snooker

gods are in favour of John Higgins. He may be having a little bit of

help from his death father as well. -- his dear father. It has been an

emotional time for the Higgins household, John senior was always

here, loved by everybody in the snooker world. That is his mother

Josephine, she is a fabulous lady. She loves a good chat.

20. 21. Maybe he wanted a bit more angle on the pink, I do not think it

wants to play the red on the top cushion. He is not playing that

well. Is now looking at the long straight red, this is not the red he

was playing for. Beautifully cued. Cutbacks. -- APPLAUSE. Just a cannon

, a couple of reds here. Does not have to go into the red, there three

or four still available and they will clear each other. John Higgins

has a 90% pot success red. -- success red.

You can see that last frame has given John Higgins a bit more

confidence, he was a bit edgy in the previous frame. At the time I

thought that in close you will not make any mistakes, and he did not.

41. The pink has its own spot, he will

be played for a bit of pace, you would not think it would risk

playing it. 48. That is not good, it is not good. He has a bit of

insurance over the pocket, he made the spider. We see a right smile

from John Higgins -- a right. the spider. We see a right smile

from John Higgins -- a wry smile. Not going to be easy from where that

White has landed, to control the next position shot. The will

automatically come back up the table. That is a bonus and a half.

Maybe it does not cut in, but no way he was playing the cannon on that

red. That was such a tough and awkward shot. That was much thinner

than he intended. It is a thin on. awkward shot. That was much thinner

than he intended. It is a thin one. 54. He has finished near the blue

again. He is making hard work of this. If he can plot the blue, he

will go 58 points in front with 59 remaining. He thinks he can.

APPLAUSE. That was a good shot, and a much harder shot than it looked.

He was so close to the blue, he is finished on the red. Look at all the

chalk marks on the table around the pink. From all the little screw

shots and stun shots. 66. One chance on the previous

frame, he needed a 93 break. It was only one chance in it in this frame.

-- he needed in this frame. 73. APPLAUSE. 80. We have had 73

centuries so far in the world championship. If he can make a

century, that will be the number 94 John Higgins. -- number nine, four

John Higgins. -- number nine, for John Higgins.

The sign of a true champion, is performing like this. Beautifully

played with a little help from the ball is. APPLAUSE. This is John

Higgins's the ninth century in this World Championship. Hasn't he taken

these well! APPLAUSE. A performance of all time from the world champion,

and it is all square! All square, this is not vintage John Higgins,

but he was really fighting hard, using all of his vast experience. He

took the lead 13 frames to 12, as we pick them up again in frame 36. --

frame 26. We did not expect the cue ball to come off as straight as a

dead, he was hoping to get a wider angle but missed the pocket. He has

not left anything, just a safety shot, John Higgins. I say that, but

he is picked one out. He has top side of the brown, that was an

excellent shot. There you see it, right through the gap. Did not look

like it would, but there you see. On good position shot and he can get

right back into this frame. APPLAUSE .

Overran it slightly, need to be much straighter on this red. John Higgins

was shaking his head, maybe he felt it had a poor bounce off the

cushion. APPLAUSE. A good shot, he held that

well for the pink. He could distort those for in the cluster there,

there you see it. A nice angle on the red. And there is the legendary

Dickie Bird, one of the best umpires of all time. He loves his snooker. A

good man, a good pal of mine. That is a very fine shot. He is right

back into this frame, Judd Trump supporters will be very wary of

these next five minutes. The cue ball is collecting a bit of chalk,

as in the red has gone close to the left cushion as it has.

The pink is not available, maybe he can screw back for the blue. Not

able to widen these angles, he is seven points behind. You can expect

him to get these next two reds. APPLAUSE. Very well played. If he

misses the cannon on this red, it would still be on, opening to the

bottom right-hand corner pocket. 33. He is purposefully holding the

spot, this is because Judd Trump misjudged a pot, it looks like it

could cost him the frame now. John Higgins is having, let's have

another look at that shot. It is, for the cushion at a wider angle.

This break has been superb from John Higgins, he is happy cue ball in

control on every shot. -- he has had the cue ball in control. He has the

chance now to open a two frame advantage. 46. He is hoping to get

on the green, the yellow is fine to screw back. On the same pocket. 48.

LAUGHTER. Even the referee is feeling a bit nervous, that is

understandable. That reception at the beginning of the frame, it

excited everybody. 16 ahead, so green and brown. Someone's phone has

just gone off in a crowd. Someone's phone has

just gone off in the crowd. This magnificent crystal theatre is

packed to the rafters this evening -- Crucible Theatre. APPLAUSE. The

only thing missing is a break of one version 40 or above. -- a break of

140 or above. People are getting annoyed now with

this phone in a crowd. APPLAUSE. Five frames on the trot for John

Higgins. APPLAUSE. 62. Judd Trump started with 38, but John

Higgins has replied with a frame winning break of 62, he goes further

clear now and leads 14-12. But just when John Higgins could see the

finish line, back came Judd Trump. He won the next two, and suddenly it

is putting frames are these. In fact it is the what -- young man with a

momentum now. Judd Trump is looking good to take frame 29, he is 50

points clear here. That is not fair, he could not have played at that.

His smile tells the story, he thought I will take a chance and

push to the pack. That is amazing, he is not on the pink or the black.

The worst thing, he is now 51 points in front and all of the reds are in

open play. Have to play a good safety shot here. Ideally he would

have loved to have been on the green, he could have pushed the

green off the top cushion and put it on to the right hand side cushion,

not ideal for the right-hander John Higgins should he get an

opportunity. But he is not on the green, he will have two swerve

around the blue to hit the yellow. I think he may be able to get through

to the brown, or maybe put the blue out of commission. You see good ship

the blue onto the left-hand side of the table, but he is a bit concerned

there are a couple of reds that he wants to block.

Can this shot clip the cushion on the left side? Thing you have to

do, is get a colour safe, somehow. The other alternative is to play the

blue into the green, and maybe get a vote safe, and you still get the

white on the cushion. That may be a choice. If he gets the cue ball

where he wants it, he could play the blue into the green, obviously

hoping it will get a good white. He is decided on the ground, but not

sure if you can get it onto the cushion. Piecework, well played. --

nice work, well played. I think this red will go, the one low the pink.

-- the one below the pink. APPLAUSE. A bit of luck could play a

part in this match. Quite a long way out from the pot John Higgins, but

for the second half of the equation. This game has been cruel.

He played a wonderful shot Judd Trump when he plotted the red and

try to force through the pack, did not get on the black. It is one of

those frames where it can be a very cruel. But whatever happens, at

least he is let the session began. He will be very unlucky if he loses

this frame, that brown could be very important indeed. He will be about

two points in front of the all the black with this red. It depends on

what happens, that this could be so pivotal. The only good thing with

this last shot is that Judd Trump has put the pink out of commission.

Even though the reds are nicely, Trumper his favourite to take this

frame. He's looking a little did in his chair but he may get another

chance. He is unlucky, this frame. -- dejected.

Look at this red. The worst piece of bad luck he got. It did not travel

enough to get on the black and go in the pocket. He may get another

chance. Brown may be the pivotal wall ball on this frame. Still got a

lot of work to do between now and then.

The red close to the right-hand side cushion is not a problem, should he

get behind it because he is a right-hander himself. He would have

liked a better angle on the blue to get behind the red, a little too

straight. Because he did not have an angle he

would have liked to have played that red now. This is a key shot, he has

to get an angle to get onto the red, and get close enough to it to roll

that down the cushion. Any further away from that to the cue ball will

be a difficult red. A high percentage on the rest, you can

expect him to pot this. The next shot is key.

He has a nice angle on the black. Again, any where near that level

white., at that angle, he can drop the red in and get the cue ball

closer to the black. If that is not good, he has the wrong angle now.

May have to try to screw up around to the middle pocket. The pink is in

the way, he could stretch for this red. The paint is making it more

awkward. -- pink. John's little boy and his mother on the balcony

watching. Sometimes it is harder for the family to watch them play. This

is now very difficult. You can only sit there and hope he

gets another chance. He got the cue ball close to the

cushion, but this red is very tough. The fact the brown has said he can

take with some confidence. -- is safe. If he can play this with

confidence... Well done, well done! The only

problem for Trump, he does need the brown, himself. Pops the black and

he will naturally get onto the yellow. If he gets an angle yellow,

he may get onto the black. You are kidding! He has missed this.

Now, as he got the right angle? It looks a little straight. He has to

force the screen in. Try to get behind the brown. -- the green in.

Making it easier is the fact he is right-handed.

Both players now need blue, brown, blue and pink. If this brown goes

I came off at the end not disappointed, I felt I tried my

best. I give it everything and it was not good enough but it was such
