Yes, I hope you enjoyed that film, Monsters versus Aliens, good one for

the Monsters, the Aliens might want a replay.

Quarter-finals weekend and with me Richard Millson and two living

legends. Welcome gentlemen. Before we hear from our reporters around

the country and give you the latest scores and one result. Hibernian are

leading 2-1 on Ayr United at Easter Road.

One match in the Premiership is afoot. The latest at Rugby Park, 1-1

between, Mac and Motherwell. Dunfermline leading Dumbarton 2-1

and Falkirk one up against Queen of the South. Let's get the latest on

that Scottish Cup quarterfinal. And all Championship affair. Hibernian

the leaders. Tricky and is there. We've played 50 minutes now, what is

sizzling first half. A right footed shot from an unusual angle, Shinnie

might have scored but the pass from McGinn was blocked. Cummings from

the penalty spot just five minutes later, there was a suggestion that

the title was outside the box and should have been a free kick.

McGuffie scored a wonder goal, John Turrell has been called the best

young player around, he showed it there. Ayr United down to ten men,

and they are leading 2-1 after 51 minutes. Check, thank you. Ranges

between Hamilton finished 6-0, a second hat-trick for Joe Garner,

will talk about that later, also on the scoresheet Jon Toral and Clint

Hill both scoring late in the match. The opener came in the first half

from the penalty spot, scored by Martyn Waghorn. Plenty of goals and

plenty of controversy as well. Willie, a hat-trick for Joel Garner

although he was lucky to stay on the pitch. He was lucky. -- Joe Garner.

He was nowhere near the ball and made a dangerous challenge. The

referee decided it was only a yellow card, but... It was reckless,

absolutely. He wasn't even going to the ball. You were watching it

closely. Here he is with the much ball. He had already scored when

that happened. It was a convincing win for Rangers. I don't think they

were too upset about the referee and the carping too much, after the

match. It is not Martin's style, he doesn't like to have a go at

referees. The assistant referee didn't... It looked to be soft,

there was one arm around the player, a trip or not, I am not sure,

ultimately Hamilton's downfall was the defending as much as any

refereeing decisions. It is not Martin's style to come out and have

a go at referees. He said he was disappointed with the decisions but

it does not change the fact that his team did not defend well. I think he

played the incidents down a little but there were critical decisions at

critical times in that first half. I don't think it was a sending off,

probably only a yellow card and a free kick. Am not convinced by that

penalty. Neither am I. It was soft. That's what he gave the penalty for

originally, as if he had pulled him but he didn't pull him. To Rangers

deserved to go into the semifinals on balance, after winning 6-0 you'll

have to say that. Of course, they created many more chances, Kenny

Miller hit the bar in the first half, agreeing just created much

more. It's fair to say that they deserve to go through because they

took their chances. Mum they were brilliant and midweek defensively

against Aberdeen. They defended really poorly. In the second half,

Rangers, again, they were down to ten men, and the body language, they

didn't up their game in any way, Hamilton. They had their chance to

get back into the game when it was beyond them. I was watching the game

at Easter Road earlier, and then Hibs scored twice and I thought it

was game over. I thought they would probably score another few goals.

It's a real cup tie. Suddenly it ends up 2-1, they will

not be happy at giving away that goal and putting themselves under

pressure. I was at the draw. It was in January, wasn't it? Ayr United

scored a wonderful goal in that one as well. They opened the scoring

after a couple of minutes. They spent most of the game camped inside

their own 18-yard box and Hibernian didn't have enough and eventually

they got one at the end. Although United are down to ten this hasn't

been completely backs to the wall, it will get that way as the game

goes on. They've got better players in the game. Better goal from

McGinn. It's what he's all about, he's full of passion and energy and

never gives up but then he's got a fair bit of skill as well. Curls and

into the back post, cracking goal. Unfortunate that McKenna had a

horrific challenge, he is on loan and there. Wasn't as bad as the

other? I thought it was worse. I think Garner was reckless although

other? I thought it was worse. I there was no real contact made in

the challenge. I thought it works a sending off, the Garner situation,

certainly. Plenty of league action as well, just one match in the

Premiership today, Kilmarnock against Motherwell, we can hear

about that from Alistair Lamont. Command and scored one just after

the one hour mark, the balance of power has changed in the match,

Kilmarnock dominant in the first period, taking advantage of a

concerted period of pressure, Boyd went close twice, including hitting

the bar, he got his goal, his 200th league goal in Scotland. Putting the

ball past Sampson. Motherwell were not threatening in the first match

since their manager Mark McGhee left the club. The only time they

threatened was when McDonald flipped the club. The only time they

the ball towards the goal and it was palmed away just before the break.

Yet Motherwell have improved in the second half and got their reward for

that. A corner kick wasn't cleared by the Kilmarnock defence, McHugh

scored and now it was 1-1. In the Championship Queen of the South at

home to Falkirk. Let's find out how that's going. It's a big game in

Dumfries. But goal gave Falkirk the lead, 1-0, it has been a tight game,

Thomas and Dobie linked up well to clear an early chance for Queen of

the South but then have a strong penalty claim when Thomas was held

back in the box. As Queen of the South found more possession, they

didn't have much to offer, it looked as if it was going to be goalless

before half-time, Falkirk and a free kick on the edge of the box and it

was a kid who stepped up who beat Robinson. Falkirk are leading going

into the second half, and it's fairly even, Robinson pulled off a

great one-handed save to stop one deflected shot from finding the top

corner but as Queen of the circle heading back looking for an

equaliser a free kick was played into the box and headed forward and

Jacobs, his effort was not too far away, over the crossbar. It is very

tight in Dumfries although Falkirk are leading Queen of the South 1-0.

Not as tight in Dunfermline. Dumbarton against Dunfermline

athletic. The home side are well ahead. They're terrific run of form,

just one defeat in the last 15 games for Alan Johnston's side. They've

had a number of clear-cut opportunities that could have led to

goals. The opener came after seven minutes, Michael Moffat with a

cross, and Nicky Clark with a bullet of a headache to send home his tenth

goal of the season. He also had a hand in the second, which looked to

be a lost cause, Paul McMullen called a wonderful right footed shot

into the top corner of the goal. A bizarre incident immediately after

that second goal. Carswell and Doherty clashed on the pitch. The

outcome was that Carswell seemed to walk off the pitch without injury

without being asked to Billy Brace, just walked off. Some stunt was

hastily sent on. The third goal has just gone in for Dunfermline, Clark

again, a corner in from the left-hand side, three or six yards

out with a header into the bottom corner, with three points, it's 3-0,

Dunfermline leading Dumbarton. Talk me through the top-flight. We talked

about it before, a typical Kris Boyd goal inside the penalty area,

holding someone off, he's been waiting a couple of weeks about

goal. It is testament to his enduring player, his sharpness

inside the penalty area, we have focused a lot on the career of Kris

Boyd, what he couldn't do outside the penalty area, he's been a

regular goal-scorer throughout his time in football and scoring this

number of goals is testament to his ability. And the time he's spent out

of Scottish football, meandering in Turkey and England? Is a fabulous

striker and senses where the opportunity is going to be and he

still has his sense of humour because when he celebrated he gave a

sign to the fans behind the goal. The 200 goal has been a long time

coming but he's been a fantastic servant to the game. I think he will

have that influence and he'll be delighted because he wasn't in a

team for a while. He is in now and he scores goals. If he plays inside

the corner, he can score a goal. I think I can sum it up, keep him as

close to the goal as possible, if he gets an opportunity...! His best

time at Kilmarnock was when Josh Magennis was there. They brought in

Salman. I think that's quite smart from the management to get the best

out of Kris Boyd. On the subject of management this fixture is

intriguing because both teams are under caretaker management and if

one is to believe the gossip, Richard, the caretaker at Kilmarnock

is in contention for another job, he's also been linked to the

Motherwell job and Mark McGhee has been talked about as a potential

Kilmarnock manager. There have been reports to this effect. The people

in charge think highly of Lee. When he left for England they said he

would be there for the rest of the season. I think Lee McCulloch has a

good chance of getting the Kilmarnock job. This is an obvious

link with Motherwell because he's from the area and he played for

Motherwell but think that would seem strange,... Biggar how ironic would

that be? If, like won the game they would be in sixth or seventh and

Motherwell would be down there fighting and they would sob over. I

don't think Lee McCulloch would jump about. While you are taking a while

to come to terms with that will take a wee break. Fresh from their League

Cup triumph last weekend it was a wee break. Fresh from their League

Manchester United at home to Bournemouth side that hadn't won

since Hogmanay. Here's the story of the match.

It finished 1-1. United went in front with a Rojo goal mid-way

Bournemouth famously held on for a.point.

Does he miss penalties? But earning a precious point in the premiere,

Bournemouth? And he will be delighted with that save. He's a big

player, Ibrrahimovic. The size of the impact he has made but I watched

him in the European Championships, and he was not as he normally was.

But some impact. But good to know that they have controversial

referees in England as well. An ebbow in the face, you get away with

it, complain too much and then you are sent off.

It would not have happened in your day. Absolutely not! And back to

Scottish football. One quarter Cup final has been decided there is

still one to go. And it is Willie's old team, Partick Thistle against

Aberdeen. The show starts later in the afternoon.

A disappointing result mid-week, Aberdeen, playing well but lost away

to Hamilton? They did. Yeah. I think that they are favourites to take the

tie. But Partick Thistle are a good side. They have played well

throughout the season. They are in a position to get results. They are

not losing goals. So it will be a difficult afternoon for Aberdeen.

But they have to find the back of the net. Adam Rooney had a great

opportunity, a fantastic header. Numerous chances. 21 corners against

Hamilton. Hamilton defended desperately, something that they

didn't do this afternoon. They had the ball offside when Mel

Storey came on as the substitute. I thought that the performance was

good but lacking a finishing touch. And Partick Thistle in good form. A

Goodwin for them mid-week. You were at the match, Richard. 1-1 and a

four game winning streak. They have been playing well, as have Dundee.

But Partick Thistle have been up front. They have a good combination,

putting Dundee's defence under three. . Partick's back three were

excellent, Lindsey, Devine and O'Neill. Partick were short going

forward but the back three were excellent. So it will be a difficult

win tomorrow. Partick Thistle will be full of confidence. I know how

much they have moved forward with Derek. And I know how important it

is for Derek with getting through to the final. They have been set a

target, to get to the Scottish Cup final.

They have injuries as well. Ryan Jack, Johnny Hayes and Mark rib

olds. Three of them will be out. Inverness Caledonian Thistle don't

have a good record there? No, 14 years. But this is the time to do

it. They are high in confidence. It's the Cup. They are up against,

let's face it, one of the favourites. So if they can go up

there and just go for it. They have players. They have Doolan, Ryan

Edwards. I am a great admirer of. The Inverness Caledonian Thistle

defence, they have had four clean sheets.

We talk about the inability to convert chance -- Partick Thistle.

It is important to do that. I think that Archibald has the

formula with the three at the back. It can change to a four.

They are good in the other box as well.

So, I think that Alan Archibald is doing a great job. I have been

impressed with them and now they are turning it into results.

A BBC interview, Ian Lindsay saying he was surprised that he was not

selected for international level. I think at full international level

there is a jump for him to go. But he has to keep playing the way he's

playing. Put in the good performances.

And for Queen of the South versus Falkirk.

It's Queen of the South, nil, Falkirk, one. They are trying to get

an equaliser here, Queen of the South but not carrying the threat.

Falkirk are looking more dangerous. But still trying to get the

equaliser but it is Falkirk looking on course to extend their situation

and cement their place in promotions come the end of the season.

Gemmle responsible for one of the most iconic moments in Scottish

football history. You will never tire of seeing this part.

No. I was a young man who grew up watching it. Tommy goes down in

history, not just for scoring this goal but in the other European Cup

final. An unbelievable goal too. Pace, power, is what he built his

tradition on and he set the standard for other young full backs to come

forward and how they should play the game. Bombing forward, getting on

the end of things, trying to score goals, defending. I didn't know

Tommy that well until I retired and then I started to go to functions. I

went to Luxembourg with him. He was a lovely, lovely gentlemen. Very

humble. The tributes that they have been playing to them are bang on. He

will go down in history. It's a sad day. That's four of them gone. Time

catches up, I'm afraid but he will always be remembered.

Always for the goal in the European Cup final. The equaliser against

Inter Milan to win 2-1 and the legend of the Lisbon Lions was born.

If you score a goal in the European finals and your Scottish, let's face

it. It is quite amazing. And you talk about the modern game, the full

backs, bowling forward, you can go back to 69 and Tommy Gemmle who

bombed forward at every opportunity from the middle area. He was a

modern player and set a standard of football that Celtic played. Forward

thinking and creative. The tributes around the world this

week has been immense. That is how he is remembered. Up there in

Scottish football and Scottish history.

Now we are heading to Easter park. A hat-trick of headers for the

former Rangers striker. It seemed to take ages to get the ball in the box

goals. He has been the player that's improved the most under Brendan

Rogers. But they are playing, I thought, we watched them a couple of

weeks ago, that the tempo was not the same. But in the second half, in

this game, the tempo was right up there.

Would you have liked to have come up against Dembele in your heyday?

Absolutely. But Dembele is impressive.

Absolutely. Not only as a striker but coming off and difficult to pick

up. The strength. He's direct. He but coming off and difficult to pick

can certainly put the ball in the back of the net.

And on that, someone has done just that at Easter Road. Is it a Hibs

player, or a United player? We know, Brian can tell the rest of you.

imagine that it should be comfortable afternoon for them. But

you never know in football. Strange things can happen. They are in good

form and they should be going with confidence. But this is a Celtic

side, I think they've put the fear into most teams in Scotland. If you

sneak something, if they score early in the game it can become a

difficult game. In this competition has lifted St Mirren because when

they were under pressure they were winning games, it was almost as if

the explanation was, there is no pressure in these games so it gave

them a lift. Suddenly they got their form back on some new signings in

January and it started to click. That came was a shock, a really

fantastic result. I hate to interrupt a legend but we have to go

because there's been another goal, is it for Dunfermline? It is, David,

another for Nicky Clark. Four this afternoon, five for Dunfermline,

this time it was not a header, you'll be shocked to hear. It was a

shot from the edge of the box. The Dumbarton defence stood back and

allowed Nicky Clark to send a right footed shot into the bottom corner

of the goal. A 5-star performance from Dunfermline and Nicky Clark.

They are leading 5-0. Thank you. While we're waiting for more updates

from our reporters we can take some time to reflect on some of the

action from midweek. Its consequences. Another defeat for

Hearts. Their third on the spin at this time at home in the league to

Ross County. Ross County's first win of the year. Fantastic result for

Ross County, they came down to Edinburgh and went away with the

victory, it's a huge loss for Hearts. You really should be

thinking, safety first. The manager just has to be under pressure,

results like that are going to bring a heap of pressure on him, he has

brought his own players in, results like that that little turnaround

they had, all those players in, Craig Levein will be part of that

process, but once they bring in their players and set up a stall and

the results don't go right, no matter what you think they've been

trying, it's all about results. Ian is desperate to get results going.

They have been good but its gone pair shaped recently. I didn't see

the full game against Ross County but they had chances. Hearts's

problem is that they haven't put a full 90 minutes together. I think

Ian Cathro is trying to knit something together and it isn't

quite happening yet. He needs to find a way to get some results from

this team. Would he have been better off not signing those players?

Trying to save the club, then you get left at all these players and

you can't bring others in. Would it be better if he didn't do that? If

he'd done it a bit slower? Plus, you've got all these players to bed

in. You've got a new coach, new players, and you are trying to put

all of that together, trying to put your thoughts over. It's a good

point but may be taking more time would have eased in the players and

helped the manager and given them a bit of an option going into the

summer to bring in more players. We can speak again to Brian, there's

been another goal. Surprise, it's not a goal Nicky Clark, for

Dumbarton. Know the score is 5-1. A good day for Dunfermline and a good

week for Rangers, as well as putting six goals past Hamilton they also

won a 3-2 in the Premiership against St Johnstone. Rangers were leading

2-0 and then they let St Johnstone back into the game. It was a good

performance, it was a good test for Rangers, they've got an interim

manager in Graeme Murty, and to be fair they won and they needed to,

and we've may be seeing the consequences of that today in the

way that they took care of Hamilton, one that they needed and one they

will hope to follow up. They've got an Old Firm game coming up and they

want to have finalised the appointment of a new head coach, the

director of football next week, whether it is one of the other

ones, Pedro Caixinha seems to be the frontrunner. News from the

Motherwell match. Motherwell have conceded a penalty kick in injury

time, Roberts, the substitute, was driving into the penalty area, is

actual is coming in behind him, but Zak Jules judged to have clipped his

heels. Protests, but Kilmarnock now have the opportunity, there was a

booking in their for McHugh, the man who had brought Motherwell level and

it looked as if Motherwell were about to end their run of four

successive defeats with a victory, they might still end that run but it

might be with the draw now. There's a gap between the penalty being

awarded and taken. It's Kris Boyd, he's already scored his 200th goal

and he's hit the post, which believe! The drama goes on.

Dalmarnock with a chance to earn a point in injury time and it is past

up by Kris Boyd whose hammered the penalty against the post. Motherwell

are leading 2-1 in the closing seconds. Well, quite some drama

there. He went for power and placement. Does Kris Boyd celebrates

tonight or not? Maybe half! It's a big moment. You said Rangers wanted

to appoint a manager before the Old Firm game. The way things are going,

does that remain as necessary because they are doing well. It's

not a question of bringing in a manager for the game, it's a

question of getting the appointment finalised as soon as they can. It's

taken almost three weeks to draw up a short list of candidates and do

due diligence on them. It's not about them, it's about getting these

positions finalised. It's almost about getting them in now quickly

and preparing for the next season. Its full-time at Rugby Park in the

match between Kilmarnock and Motherwell. I can see pictures of

Motherwell players celebrating. Alistair? Celebrating and still

complaining about the late award of the penalty kick. It doesn't matter

because that penalty as I mentioned seconds ago was missed by Kris Boyd,

the man who had opened the scoring with his 200 top-flight league goal,

a typical Kris Boyd goal strumming his dash showing his strength and

predatory instincts to put the ball past Sampson in goal. A much

improved performance and the stunner Motherwell interim manager Stephen

Robinson. The ball goes into the roof of the net and Motherwell

turned it around completely, when they went ahead. Zak Jules got the

second and then he conceded a penalty in injury time but Kris Boyd

passed at the opportunity to earn a point for his side. Motherwell and a

run of four successive defeats with a victory, a good job application

from Stephen Robinson if he wants it. They have beaten Kilmarnock 2-1.

A good win for Motherwell, let's find out who the winners are between

Queen of the South and Falkirk. It finished

2-0, the Bairns triumphing. The low free kick from the edge of the box

beat Robinson at his left-hand post. Queens had to push forward and they

did but they did not carry enough threat to trouble Falkirk, Falkirk

looked dangerous on the attack, with 15 minutes left the lead was

doubled. A big afternoon for the Bairns, it finished 2-0. Two for the

Pars. A 5-star show from Nicky Clark who scored four of the goals for the

Pars. The first three were from headers in the six yard box.

Questions were asked about Dumbarton's defence. The other goal

came from a wonderful curling shot from Paul McMullen. Immediately

after that there was a strange event when there seemed to be a coming

together for two Dumbarton defenders, Doherty and Carswell,

Carswell decided he had had enough and walked off the pitch.

Consolation for Dumbarton came with just four minutes left to play.

Harvie got a consolation goal, it was Dunfermline who maintained this

remarkable run that they are on, just one defeat in 16 games. It

finished 5-1. It has been so exciting this afternoon. I wondered

why there was a celebration. What an important victory for Motherwell.

Another advert for sacking manager! Suck your manager and get a result!

Is incredible how that happens. -- your manager. It looked like a good

performance. It is a great result for Motherwell, taking nothing away

from that, Kris Boyd gets a goal but misses a penalty. Placement with

power, just didn't get the right side of the post. Bang on the post.

Let's look at the Championship results. Falkirk beating Queen of

the South 2-0 takes them second in the table. Although they have played

two more matches than Dundee United. I think it will be a question of,

will it be Morton, Falkirk, Dundee United,...? Dundee United have

faulted a little and Falkirk have moved above them. Easter Road, its

full-time between Hibernian and a United, holders Hibernian are

through. It was a brave showing from a United, they were down to ten men,

it was again with a wonderful goal who put Hibs ahead, curling it into

the corner. Jason Cummings made it 2-0 with a penalty five minutes

later. There was a challenge on Boyle and the pictures suggested it

might have been outside the box. Cummings scored from the penalty and

then young Ryan McGuffie, just around the edge of the box, McKenna

got a red card for a United but the substitute made it 3-1. Hibs go

through. They have beaten a United 3-1. The cup holders through to the

semifinals. Fantastic for them, they won the cup last year and now they

are in the semifinal. Look at the draw, they might even make another

final. Great job by Neil Lennon. It was a great cup tie, watching it

here on the monitor. I think they deserved it. The highlight was the

goal by McGuffie. A tremendous strike from the young player. Hibs

will be desperate not to get the wrong draw in the semifinal! There

is a chance that we could see the semifinal line-up of Celtic against

Aberdeen, Hibs against Rangers which would be mouthwatering whichever

combination those ties to up. Hibs, whether they might get in the next

round, would still fancy their chances. They took care of Hearts. I

know that they are in the Championship but they are a

Premiership level team. I think they are almost fighting to retain the

cup which gives them an edge in terms of motivation and psychology.

I was speaking to the manager, although he was not the manager when

they have been down there for most of the season. The teams above them

are there because they have won the odd game here and there.

They are all winning odd games? Motherwell have Louis moulton and

Chris Donald. And you wonder if the sides like that have too much in

their team to be caught. Ultimately it will be down to which team can

hold its nerve after the split. That is it exactly.

I was getting stick, I picked two teams, Motherwell and Hamilton, so I

was right with one of them. But Motherwell surprised me and Caley
