Hello, good evening and welcome to sports in.

-- welcome to Sportscene. COMMENTATOR: The shot is an absolute

beauty! And it's there! What a finish! That is it, I would imagine.

It's gone in! They've done it again! Somersaults, Falkirk have scored in

stoppage time. Its advantage to the Championship died.

Kilmarnock and Falkirk grappling for a place in the Premiership next

season, which side would land the knockout blow? With us in the studio

tonight, Pat Nevin and Tom English. Later we will also look back at a

memorable Scottish Cup final, but first straight to Rugby Park. The

entire seasons of both sides about to be defined.

COMMENTATOR: Lee Clark has brought Josh Magennis back into his starting

line-up, having missed the first leg because of a hamstring problem. Will

that be a risk? It's a big afternoon for 18-year-old Greg Taylor, who

makes just his second start. Lee Hodson on his more natural right

side. Peter Houston has gone slightly more pragmatic today, with

Tom Taiwo recalled. Goalkeeper Danny Rogers plays his last game before

returning to parent club Aberdeen. The referee is Willie Collum, he is

off to the European Championships in the summer. Seldom are the stakes

higher. Falkirk kick off going towards the Moffat stand. Game

number 1052 of the season across all of Scotland's domestic competitions.

The final matter to be resolved, who will be team 12 in the Premiership

and team ten in the Championship. First chance for Josh Magennis in

the channel. Good play by Meg Ennis, big chance early on! And a massive

goal early on as well from Greg Kiltie! Two minutes in and

Kilmarnock have lightened the Falkirk advantage. It's a dream

start for Kilmarnock. Greg Kiltie back in the side and you can see

why. One touch and then drilled into the back of the net. A great start

for Kilmarnock. Meg Ennis plays his part and Kiltie in the right place

to finish. Falkirk scored late in the first leg, Kilmarnock score

early in the second leg, and it is 1-1 on the aggregate scoreline. What

a positive start from the home team. Tom Taiwo, in four Blair Alston

today, a big call from Peter Houston. There is the free kick. It

will take something special to beat legal keeper. Mark Kerr over the

free kick. Half away by Ashcroft. Will Vaulks. Will Vaulks will fancy

the long throw. Every time they get in the final third, Falkirk have a

method of putting you under pressure. It's a real weapon coming

Good work by Boyd, up against Luke Leahy. He has gone short. Falkirk

standing off a bit here, not a bad ball either! They have turned this

right round! Addison puts Kilmarnock in front on aggregate, and we

haven't even played eight minutes. What a solid shot. Well, Falkirk

completely switched off. They take the throw short, nobody is going to

him. It falls perfectly for Miles Addison from about six inches, he

smashes it into the back of the net. It's an absolute dream for

Kilmarnock. It could go absolutely anywhere but it goes to Miles

Addison, who is in the right place at the right time. Kilmarnock could

seldom have dreamt of a better start to this second leg. It has been

stunning, their reaction. Aaron Muirhead was unlucky, but Addison

was there to score his first goal for Killie. Chance here for Falkirk,

their first corner of the afternoon. Shouts for a penalty. The manager

clearly agrees with them. Addison had his hand up. The referee maybe

defensively, Falkirk. He has got so much time. Nobody confronts him and

long afterwards, and Kilmarnock were 2-1 up soon, eight minutes into the

second leg. It is 2-0, 2-1 Killie on aggregate.

The 166th meeting between the clubs, but this certainly the most

important meeting since 2010 and that relegation scrap at the end of

that campaign. Falkirk know when they look back at their season they

have only failed to score on five occasions. It could get edgy late in

the game. Lee Clark wants his players to push an score again and

give themselves a cushion. A foul by Mark Kerr on Greg Kiltie, that has

presented Kilmarnock with a good opportunity. Craig Slater certainly

gets plenty of it. Slater with this free kick, it's a good one! Great

save and that over the bar from Obadeyi! What a chance. That's

incredible. It comes at him quickly. It's a decent save. But it's got to

end up in the back of the net. Amazing. How important is that going

to prove to be? It was Ashcroft with the initial effort. Obadeyi was

surprised it reached him. Killie 2-0 up, 2-1 up on aggregate.

This is Greg Kiltie, easy to Danny Rogers. They are making

opportunities, Kilmarnock. Falkirk are not creating nearly as much as

their hosts. It is not a great effort from Greg Kiltie but shows

confidence. Here comes Obadeyi, who has got pitched to work in. Taking

on Muirhead. Back it comes, big chance! Take gold for Kilmarnock!

That might be the goals that keeps Killie in the top flight. Kiltie

does it again. His second, Kilmarnock's third, and it is a

long, long way back now for the Bears. When he gets that room come

he knows he's got pace, he knows he can take people on. He slows up and

then puts on the afterburner and then like he did in the first half,

Kiltie scores. He knows if you hit the target there's a good chance it

can end up in the back of the net. Great play by Toby Obadeyi. -- by

Toby they have given themselves that

cushion to defend. Kilmarnock and saved arguably their best

performance of the season when the stakes were at their highest.

Blair Alston, back for Mark Kerr. And now Killie are on their bike and

looking to kill this stone dead. Josh Magennis is there, and Kris

Boyd is therefore a tap in! They are surely staying up now! Kris Boyd,

who scored goals aplenty to keep them up two years ago, has surely

done Falkirk in now. It's a glory day for Killie. That says an station

or break. Josh Magennis gets the ball and the defender has a little

trip at him. He goes on his own, then he has the pace and the

composure to see Kris Boyd. He can't miss. Magennis lays it on a plate.

The great thing about Magennis, he never thought about himself, he did

it all for the team. He might have scored, but Kris Boyd would

definitely score. One of Scottish football's deadliest gunslingers,

who has won titles, cups, silverware aplenty. But that will feel just as

good to him. Muirhead, it was a good dummy by Miller. He's back onto it.

Blair Alston! Jamie MacDonald spilt it but they couldn't take advantage.

wasn't it? As Blair Alston gets the ball away, he has taken a crack as

looks like a foul, I think the assistant got in his ear and said

it's definitely a foul. I think it was always going to be a foul given

for that. Steve Miller. It has been a fabulous performance from

Kilmarnock. Looking to finish its -- to finish it all off. A wonderful

run. McKenzie was going for goal and smashed it off his team-mate. A real

feather in the capital Clark. He will have been monitoring where this

performance was for the last couple of months. -- feather in the cap for

Lee Clark. Kilmarnock supporters in the stand over on this near side on

their feet, pretty much, in anticipation of Willie Collum's

final whistle. Taylor, he has looked assured at left-back in just two

Falkirk. We mustn't forget the season they've had. They lost fewer

games than Rangers in the league, Falkirk. Draws and not enough wins

on the road have cost them. But again it's away from home where they

have been dealt a hard blow, and Lee Clark has steered Kilmarnock to

Who would have knows what would have happened if I had went down to the

Championship. I didn't want to be the manager that was around if that

happened. We have to celebrate that we have to use it as a warning as

well. The last three or four years, the club has been fighting this type

of scenario for too long. We will recruit strongly over the summer and

we will try to copy clubs like St Johnstone, Ross County, Motherwell.

Those clubs who don't have the huge, huge budgets in terms of the Old

but they are very competitive and challenging at the right end of the

table. So it has been shown that it can be done and we have to try and

emulate that. When you lose two goals in the first six minutes, that

gives the impetus to Kilmarnock. I think we were still involved up to

counter-attacked and scored against us. I look at this Falkirk team on

the last day of the season last year in the cup final... We fell a bit

short but we have improved and we can get better. It's just such a

relief to finally get out of the position we were in. After Thursday

I was thinking, are we going to survive? But after that performance

today, it's been brilliant. It was a raucous day at Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock fans truly turned out in force and in the end celebrations in

the sunshine. Relief the dominant emotion as they vanquished Falkirk

in some style to preserve their Premiership status. Tom, you were

there, how impressed were you with Kilmarnock? Finally they found

something, they found a clean sheet, a dominant performance and

ruthlessness in front of goal. It took all season for them to find

that performance but they found it when they needed it most. I still

think it's a bit weird seeing them celebrating in front of a sign that

there is winners, when it should really say "Not losers". It should

be a feeling of relief really rather than a great triumph. As for

Kilmarnock in sums of today... A lot of it was to do with their manager

Josh Magennis out of the traps as well, which made a big difference.

They had a lot of pace and power and in the end Falkirk just couldn't

work with it. Interesting to see that the two wide players, Obadeyi

and Kiltie wide, it was a nice little dummy in there as well. --

Obadeyi and Magennis wide. If you go to that byline, the wingers's union,

and get a cut back, it is a defender's nightmare. Josh Magennis

such an important player for Kilmarnock? And was excellent today,

he looks like a guy who was really focused on getting that seem out of

trouble at the bottom. He was a handful. In terms of the first leg,

we saw issues with the Kilmarnock defending. Today, for the sacking

Kilmarnock goal, issues with the Falkirk defending. This time, he has

got two on one against him and he doesn't know what to do. It's a

great ball in hand it's a battle. He's saying, come on, help me, I

need help. I don't want to be two on one. But his mate is running away.

He needs to be out there. When that cross comes in, you need to make

sure it's not a cross exactly where you want it. That ball should not be

allowed to be put in with that amount of power, pace and whip. We

talk about cup finals and play-offs, it's about desire. They wanted it.

They absolutely wanted it and they wanted it from the first minute.

When you've got that sort of fan base, and by the way a lot of

Falkirk fans there as well, that seemed to lift the Killie players as

well. It kept getting better. In Greg Kiltie, they really have a star

in the making. In Tope Obadeyi as well. Here he is, Atleti deadeye

accurate. He picks out Kiltie. Absolutely deadeye accurate. You

have some with the pace that he's got hammering it in. You let him get

to that byline and it is a defender's nightmare. But no

complaints with Peter Houston, what he did with his team, they had to

have a go. That happened in front of the Falkirk fans, who were

excellent. Just talking about them going man-to-man at the end and they

have had to do it again and it that pure pace of Kiltie. It is man on

man again and when you break with pace, there's nothing they can do,

absolutely nothing. He was caught between a rock and a hard place.

It's a great run and it's a goal and it sums up, that was the 20th goal

Falkirk have conceded in the last 11 games and they get away with it

because of this indomitable spirit they've had, scoring two and three

but today they didn't get away with it. That was just turning off for a

moment but for the first eight minutes it was mayhem. The rest of

the time, the defensive mistakes were because you have to go forward

and take a chance. Great unselfish play from Josh Magennis and great

atmosphere at Rugby Park today. That was really important. It's so often

a relief for atmosphere at that ground. It was fantastic, the whole

aspect of the stadium, Falkirk were magnificent with their support as

well. -- the whole aesthetic. Lee Clark is such an adjusting

character, is usually emotional Clark is such an adjusting

today. He enjoyed that, didn't he? What do you expect from him next

season? Well, he's obviously committed to the job. He has done OK

in the job, he hasn't let the place up but he has kept them alive and I

suspect he will change the team dramatically. Because let's face it,

Kilmarnock got the job done today but they failed over the course of

the season. For the last four seasons before this, they've been

flirting with that 11th place. This season they finished 11th and they

got away with it. But they can't keep finishing 11th, in and around

that relegation area. Falkirk falling at the final hurdle, so

painful for them and Peter Houston as well, but at the same time you

have to say it's been a fantastic thrilling ride for those fans. You

understand that and accept that completely, but you look at those

Falkirk fans and they understand, they are punching so far above their

weight to do what they have done for the last couple of seasons. Either

used and got to a cup final last season and within one game of

getting up to the Premier League. I would have loved to have said that

for him. -- Peter Houston. To a cup final.

We didn't often get crowds like that and hopefully it is the start of

something new. Lee Clark, with his attitude, I think there will be good

times ahead for Kilmarnock. Well done Kilmarnock comment

commiserations to Falkirk. It has been a massive weekend of action.

Time to look back on a memorable Scottish Cup final. Alan Stubbs does

tend to set his side up like he has done today. It sometimes works and

it sometimes doesn't. Here is Cummins for Stokes. Doesn't have

anyone to edit down the middle. And why not? Is it an? Hibs lead the

Scottish Cup final! What a start. That is a finish from strokes but it

seems far too easy. The referee plays a good advantage, the ball

comes to Stokes, the referee could have given a free and says play on.

Anthony Stokes is not confronted. It's poor defending but exactly the

start Hibs were looking for. Anthony Stokes, on loan from Celtic, that's

Hibbert earlier in front in the Scottish Cup final. The stuff that

dreams are made of. A Gonalons three minutes and Alan Stubbs could

scarcely have dreamt of a better start last night when he went to his

bed. He was looking for a bit of space, wag run. It's a good one. It

is Kenny Miller. Rangers missed out. Does it again. A great header from

Kenny Miller. When you don't have big strikers Emile Gupta has the

ball in. That is a beauty that is a belter of a header. He has no chance

of getting there. Brilliant header. Kenny Miller does what he does and

what he has been doing for years. For club and country. What an

effort. So unlucky. Hibs were almost back in front. It has turned into an

incredible game. Stokes get the ball, create space. How lucky is

that? Cracks of the post, spins out. But magnificent effort. The manager

cannot believe it. Gary Mackay to take. Miller has got a free header.

What a lead off for Hibs. Look how much room Kenny Miller has got. He

is really unlucky. Here is Halliday. Nice touch. There is nothing you can

do about that. Andy Halliday puts Rangers in front. That is an

absolute beauty. He set up but what a strike this series. Bank! You will

not see a better strike than that. Just inside the post. He has got a

powerful left foot. He has hit about. It is a 10th of the season

Cup final. What a feeling that him and what a feeling for Mark

being a Hibs player who scores a hat-trick in the final minute of the

Scottish Cup final. In comes the corner. There goes the goal from

David Gray! 114 years of pain about to be brought to a thundering end

here. A stunning goal to end stoppage time. And with one stretch

of the neck muscles, had burning's pain and misery could be over. What

a touch from the skipper. He is brave, you has got his head on it

and has knocked it into the back of the net, another decent corner from

Henderson and the man who wanted most was David Gray, no chance for

the goalkeeper and Hibs are in pole position to win it. Rangers have

played their part in this final but they are very much about to be the

losers by the looks of things. All eyes are on the referee here.

Rangers have one last chance? No, they don't. Ladies and gentlemen,

you eyewitness to a moment of Scottish history. Hibernian have won

the Scottish Cup! These are scenes that SFA will not want to see. It is

not want anyone wanted. I'm a bit emotional. I actually thought we

would win 3-1. This was weeks ago and I had a funny feeling. I knew

the players were so disappointed and I had a funny feeling. I knew

last Friday. When you buy their reaction on Friday that they were

ready for this game. I am delighted for all the fans, or the players,

the pub or club. They are history makers. Scoring a goal in the last

minute... Incredible. Talk me through the goal itself. A great

delivery. I just knew. I could not remember. The manager said you guys

believed in this phrase Hibs that was beginning to annoy you. We are

such a close bond, we have said that that all season. We believed we were

good enough to get out of this league. Winning the cup ends that

and puts to bed people saying that. How many times have we managed to

this season? Credit to the lads and everyone involved. Is this

embarrassing for Scottish football this evening? Of course it is. It's

a showpiece final. What has been a fantastic game of football will now

be forgotten and remembered for appalling scenes at the end of this

match. He is the captain, he is the hero, and his picture and the rest

of the teen years guiding up the steps at Hampden Park for now be

immortalised in photographs, paintings that will adorn the Easter

Road walls. There is a big banner over on the far side that says, time

for heroes. Well, these men in green and white are heroes. Because the

voodoo to end all who dos was over. Hibernian have won the Scottish Cup!

It is not a dream, it's reality. I think that perfectly sums up. It

Hasn't sunk in for you? Just about. That we will be thinking about it

for a long time. There are very few days in your life when will you

remember that day for the rest of your life. They are not that many.

The David Gray, this is one, but not just David Gray, every footballer on

that field for Hibs, every fan at the game and every fan of Hibs is

watching it. That is the day they will remember for the rest of their

lives and that's how special football can be and our special that

day was for that group of people. Just about getting to terms with it

now. It was a seismic day in terms of Scottish football in terms of

Hibs's achievement but embarrassing said the SFA in terms of the pitch

invasion in the aftermath. Rangers players were attacked in everything

else. What was your view? I will say now what I said this morning and I

hope that the trainer of Ibrox is listening because he has got his

wires badly crossed. None of those scenes would have happened had the

Hibs fans not run onto the pitch, run down the Rangers end, run past

their own and disgracefully goaded the Rangers fans who retaliated.

None of those scenes would have happened if that didn't occur. The

attacks on the Rangers players were scandalous, mind or tillering the

disgraceful, surreal if they were not really real. Rob Petrie was so

of being in his post-match comments and I'm really surprised he hasn't

corrected this whole attitude of, it was over exuberance. Some fans were

over exuberant, who stayed at their end in mind that they're in

business. It's the ones that ran down and cause trouble but we are

talking about. It was disgraceful scenes and Hibs fans started it. In

terms of the achievement from Hibs, another day of celebration for the

Green half of Edinburgh today would open top bus parade or the way down

Easter Road. And there we have it. The word surreal springs to mind.

It's brilliant. Unless you are Dan McMichael, this kind of reception,

but as Pat says, these guys are history now. They are immortal. Alan

Stubbs has gone down as the man whose masterminded the Scottish Cup.

It seems trippy that they've done it. After everything that was thrown

at them, the windups, we will have to recalibrate the word Hibs into

winning. Those scenes look amazing. Did you ever think you would see

those scenes? I didn't know if I would survive to see it. But there

are a few things. The reasons for that was the frustration, 114 years,

the pressure, tension of the whole occasion, the late goal. It was

wrong. A lot of speculation about the future of Alan Stubbs. By the

sounds of things, he is staying. I am planning for next season. We have

already identified some players that we would like to bring to the

football club to make it stronger. We will not rest on our laurels.

There are a lot of ambitious people behind-the-scenes here and it will

be all systems go for that promotion next season. We want to take the

play-offs out of the equation and we want to go up automatically. I think

there has been a perceived wisdom that he may not be Hibs next season.

Kind of sounds like he will be? Good news for Hibs. There was chat about

him going to Bolton. He was stoic himself when he was asked question.

It sounds like he will be. That's good news. Their prime objective

this season was to get promotion but if you asked Hibs fans, would they

have promotion or is Scottish Cup? What would they say? Scottish Cup.

The players want to get promotion, the manager and club wanted it, but

in reality, when you know history is on the line, it's the Scottish Cup.

Celtic will unveil their new manager tomorrow. Brendan Rodgers will

become the man in charge at Celtic Park. It is a huge coup, isn't it?

How big a statement is this from Celtic? Very big. They have done

very well to put this deal together. He is a stellar manager, I was

hugely impressed with his work at Swansea, to get them to the

Premiership for small money. Huge job he did at Swansea, did well at

Liverpool, petered out in the end but is a serious manager of

substance. How do you expect to get on and the Scottish football

goldfish bowl? His style has always been a star that Celtic fans would

love to watch. It's really pleasing on the eye. It's very attack minded.

This is the Celtic way. They will love what he brings to the club. He

will look at what he has gotten bin, I can work with those players. He

will be paid well. I think... It almost feels like boomtime once

again in Scottish football. Do you expect this appointment to have a

knock-on effect? I think so. I think Rangers have to bolster that

defence. It's not good enough to compete at the top three or four in

the Premiership. Aberdeen will come again, they will sign players,

hearts will sign players, but this has been a really good season. In

the last two or three months, we have seen fantastic matches, great

excitement. A shift change for Scottish football next season? Too

early to say. It will take time for Rangers to come back but you look at

what Warburton has done so far and if he gets the money, I have no

doubt over a short period of time they will get closer but that is not

to ignore, as Tom says, I suspect Aberdeen will go up. I'm looking

forward to it. Me too. Thank you very much indeed. It has been a
