The sun has been out and the big guns in Super League have been out.

:00:38.:00:42.

It's round 17, and time to put some markers down

:00:43.:00:44.

# I got this feeling inside my bones # It goes electric wavey when I turn

:00:45.:00:55.

it on # All through my city, all through my home,

:00:56.:00:57.

# We're flying up, no ceiling, when we in our zone.

:00:58.:01:02.

# I can't stop the feeling So just dance, dance,

:01:03.:01:08.

Eorl Crabtree is alongside Hull Kingston Rovers captain

:01:09.:01:32.

Terry Campese to spread some sunshine over

:01:33.:01:34.

St Helens against Warrington was the hot match of round 17.

:01:35.:01:38.

It was second against fifth, and Stuart Pike was there.

:01:39.:01:44.

COMMENTATOR: The Saints will need to defend well

:01:45.:01:47.

against Super League's most potent attack.

:01:48.:02:05.

But Chris Sandow, a little dummy, held the pass up beautifully.

:02:06.:02:16.

Saints have been dominant with a lot of the possession, a lot

:02:17.:02:22.

of the ball, but don't really look like scoring.

:02:23.:02:25.

Clear and present danger, and now it's Sandow again.

:02:26.:02:29.

No wonder he is right up there for Man of Steel.

:02:30.:02:40.

St Helens just cannot get a foothold in this game.

:02:41.:02:47.

Every time Warrington get close, they are dangerous.

:02:48.:02:54.

Again, they tacked this side, this right side, and Atkins...!

:02:55.:02:58.

Well, is that a try to celebrate his 300th career appearance?

:02:59.:03:01.

And I'm sure the video referee will think so too.

:03:02.:03:23.

300 career appearances, much to muse about for

:03:24.:03:25.

Ben Currie, just trying something different, and Atkins

:03:26.:03:30.

Ratchford, they cannot stop Stefan Ratchford.

:03:31.:03:47.

Straight out of the traps at the start of the second half.

:03:48.:03:57.

That could be game, set and match, if it isn't already,

:03:58.:04:03.

but the vision of Daryl Clark and Stefan Ratchford,

:04:04.:04:06.

at one of the best supporting players

:04:07.:04:08.

And it's been another miserable night for the Saints,

:04:09.:04:23.

but you cannot take anything away from Warrington.

:04:24.:04:25.

They really do look like they're going to score every time

:04:26.:04:28.

Still early stages of this second half, Gidley with the kick forward,

:04:29.:04:53.

Rhys Evans won't score many more simple tries this season.

:04:54.:05:04.

Another disaster, defensively, for St Helens.

:05:05.:05:10.

It's over 30 years since St Helens were nailed at home

:05:11.:05:15.

Saints have been outfought and outplayed, but they have a try.

:05:16.:05:42.

This, though, is Warrington's night, again.

:05:43.:05:45.

STUDIO: Earl, for you, was that result ever in any doubt?

:05:46.:06:06.

Going into the game, I actually thought St Helens might

:06:07.:06:09.

actually pressure them, put them under a bit of pressure

:06:10.:06:11.

and make sure they had to work for it, but it didn't seem

:06:12.:06:13.

I think there were too many mistakes by St Helens, and Warrington...

:06:14.:06:17.

They just looked like that team that could win something.

:06:18.:06:19.

And they were playing with that confidence as well,

:06:20.:06:21.

In the end, it was just reward, but for St Helens,

:06:22.:06:26.

Interestingly, Tony Smith saying afterwards they had barely trained

:06:27.:06:29.

all week because of the injuries and he was worried

:06:30.:06:32.

Did that reflect the way they played in terms of just trying to get those

:06:33.:06:35.

points on and then you can take a couple of your players off?

:06:36.:06:38.

I thought Chris Sandow and Currie were outstanding, their combination

:06:39.:06:45.

I think clubs will come knocking for Currie in the coming months.

:06:46.:06:49.

It's an interesting relationship, isn't it, the amount

:06:50.:06:53.

of points they score down that left-hand side.

:06:54.:06:55.

You can just tell that they are happy.

:06:56.:07:01.

Here's a picture of Chris Sandow with a smile on his face,

:07:02.:07:03.

and that just shows how they come out and play on the weekend.

:07:04.:07:05.

And if you watch his style of play, does he look like a player who needs

:07:06.:07:07.

that kind of confidence and happiness?

:07:08.:07:09.

I think when he got over here last year, he wasn't playing the kind

:07:10.:07:13.

of football he is, but he had a pre-season with Warrington,

:07:14.:07:15.

and this just shows what he can do, and he has been one

:07:16.:07:18.

of their best players all year, and scored some class tries.

:07:19.:07:20.

And a fabulous kick as well from Ben Currie.

:07:21.:07:23.

Yes, the sort of thing you wouldn't really recognise him for as well,

:07:24.:07:26.

but everything he touches turns to gold, the same as Sandow.

:07:27.:07:28.

No matter what they do, they seem to score points and seem

:07:29.:07:33.

to be enjoying themselves as well, so it's a combination

:07:34.:07:35.

that we will probably need to watch for the rest of the season.

:07:36.:07:38.

He looked a bit of a shadow of himself, at times last season,

:07:39.:07:42.

but he looks like the player we all know he can be.

:07:43.:07:45.

That team was a shadow of themselves as well,

:07:46.:07:47.

because they weren't making the yardage, they weren't getting

:07:48.:07:50.

It's no coincidence that this year, when they are playing really well,

:07:51.:07:54.

they're standing up and making those metres again, making those breaks,

:07:55.:07:57.

off-loading in the right positions on what looks

:07:58.:07:58.

They have a good team this year and they're playing again,

:07:59.:08:03.

I keep talking about confidence but it makes such

:08:04.:08:05.

Keiron Cunningham's side clearly lacking confidence.

:08:06.:08:09.

He was talking about anxiety from his side.

:08:10.:08:11.

Where do you see it going wrong at St Helens at the moment?

:08:12.:08:13.

Like I said before, if you dig a hole, sometimes it's

:08:14.:08:17.

hard to get out of it, and I think that's what they did

:08:18.:08:19.

on the weekend, they probably thought in their heads,

:08:20.:08:21.

the first 20 minutes could be very important, they got out there,

:08:22.:08:24.

it didn't go to plan, and everything they did,

:08:25.:08:27.

it seemed like they didn't have the confidence.

:08:28.:08:29.

Here we can see on the TV what they would normally do,

:08:30.:08:33.

but if things aren't going to plan, this seems to happen.

:08:34.:08:35.

And they were being booed, Keiron Cunningham was being booed.

:08:36.:08:38.

It is tough times when that is happening to you at home.

:08:39.:08:41.

They are making simple mistakes, you can talk about tactics

:08:42.:08:45.

and getting in the right position, but if the final ball is not good

:08:46.:08:48.

enough and someone just makes a dropped pass, you will

:08:49.:08:51.

But the fans booing off the back of it...

:08:52.:08:54.

And the body language of the players at times?

:08:55.:08:57.

It seems to be all around the club, doesn't it, when the fans

:08:58.:08:59.

are booing, the players have negative body language,

:09:00.:09:01.

Cunningham, as well, has been negative in

:09:02.:09:04.

It seems like there's a vicious circle there,

:09:05.:09:07.

and it's something they need to snap out of it.

:09:08.:09:10.

Errors happen, mistakes happen, and you get over them.

:09:11.:09:12.

Well, a dozen rounds ago, Hull FC lost by 40 points at Widnes,

:09:13.:09:14.

and Lee Radford stayed out of the dressing room whilst

:09:15.:09:16.

the players thrashed out their problems.

:09:17.:09:18.

The two teams have gone in different directions since.

:09:19.:09:20.

It was Widnes who scored first when they met on Friday.

:09:21.:09:22.

After that, though, it was pretty much Hull FC all the way.

:09:23.:09:25.

Yes, they've been the class team in my eyes this year.

:09:26.:09:28.

They've won 12 from 13, and they have the whole squad

:09:29.:09:30.

to pick from, they have had hardly any injuries all year

:09:31.:09:33.

and it shows on the field, they've all got confidence

:09:34.:09:36.

And how important that they did thrash out those problems

:09:37.:09:40.

when they lost to Widnes all those rounds ago?

:09:41.:09:42.

It seems strange, because at the time,

:09:43.:09:44.

people were questioning it, and it's something I didn't

:09:45.:09:46.

see an issue with it, where the players got together

:09:47.:09:48.

They have obviously solved something.

:09:49.:09:52.

They used to be a Jekyll Hyde team, and this year,

:09:53.:09:56.

They are a team that's absolutely flying, everything they're doing

:09:57.:10:00.

is working really well, but they're playing

:10:01.:10:02.

You can tell even by videos of them in the changing rooms after games,

:10:03.:10:06.

they are absolutely enjoying themselves and loving every moment

:10:07.:10:08.

of winning games, and they work hard for each one.

:10:09.:10:10.

They are a team that's hard to beat this year, and even there,

:10:11.:10:13.

there's just so many numbers around the ball,

:10:14.:10:15.

five white shirts, and there's just no shirts there from the opposition.

:10:16.:10:18.

And Jamie Shaul having a fantastic season, but do you look

:10:19.:10:20.

at the Widnes defence when you look at this one,

:10:21.:10:23.

I think Scott Taylor is probably the number one front row

:10:24.:10:27.

This just suppose, great support play by Shaul, as he always does.

:10:28.:10:31.

This is just what confident football does for you.

:10:32.:10:33.

Would you have kept up with Shaul there?

:10:34.:10:35.

Yes, I would probably just have gone all the way

:10:36.:10:38.

He obviously fancied a break, but at the top of it,

:10:39.:10:44.

Scott Taylor there, he's been absolutely brilliant, but again,

:10:45.:10:46.

this is a player at Wigan who couldn't get in the team

:10:47.:10:48.

at times, who was lacking confidence, wasn't happy,

:10:49.:10:50.

This is what the difference being in a good team

:10:51.:10:54.

And for Widnes, they used up a lot of energy,

:10:55.:10:59.

As you say, Hull are the form team, is this one they just

:11:00.:11:03.

Yes, I think it will be a tough loss.

:11:04.:11:07.

They have lost a few now over the last couple of months,

:11:08.:11:10.

and they just have to regroup and go back to the drawing board and come

:11:11.:11:13.

It all changes after one win, and that's what they've got

:11:14.:11:17.

You talked about the two confidence teams, two teams playing well,

:11:18.:11:21.

First of all, it's a massive game, I am absolutely looking forward

:11:22.:11:27.

to this one, and I think it's going to be a classic.

:11:28.:11:32.

I hope it is, anyway, I hope it's one of those

:11:33.:11:34.

games where Warrington, in recent times, in recent weeks,

:11:35.:11:37.

months, they've had those slip-ups, whereas Hull FC have

:11:38.:11:39.

I'm going with Hull, I honestly think Hull could win this one.

:11:40.:11:44.

With the form that they're in, they will deserve to go on and win

:11:45.:11:47.

it, but anything could happen, especially on the left edge

:11:48.:11:49.

Well, Leave or Remain is the big questions surrounding Leeds Rhinos

:11:50.:11:54.

at the moment, five straight Super League defeats left

:11:55.:11:59.

the champions at the foot of the table, and they are likely

:12:00.:12:02.

to face a fight for Super League survival in the qualifiers.

:12:03.:12:05.

Their latest match was against Catalans on Friday,

:12:06.:12:07.

and the commentator for this one was Richard Stead.

:12:08.:12:15.

COMMENTATOR: Here is Lilley to McGuire.

:12:16.:12:17.

Moon is running, moves to the left of the ruck, he's away,

:12:18.:12:24.

Ferris is over for the opener, Leeds lead.

:12:25.:12:31.

Dragons' pressure, Carney again, kicks for a try, Horo,

:12:32.:12:43.

Bit of a scruffy play-the-ball there.

:12:44.:13:23.

Fast hands here from the Dragons again, an opportunity,

:13:24.:13:32.

this will be a try, just by the uprights,

:13:33.:13:35.

Leeds go again, maybe an opportunity, maybe a try,

:13:36.:14:05.

and Leeds have scored, and that is Josh Walters

:14:06.:14:08.

A robust run here from Casty, but he's dropped it.

:14:09.:14:26.

Oh, terrible stuff, and Pelissier is away.

:14:27.:14:38.

And this will seal it for the Catalan Dragons.

:14:39.:14:42.

Cruel for Leeds there, they could have snatched

:14:43.:14:44.

Very proud, especially with French players in my Catalan team,

:14:45.:14:49.

You know, Albert is 18, Yaha is 19.

:14:50.:15:00.

Navarrete has got one game, one Super League game's experience,

:15:01.:15:03.

Some people are going out, some people are going in,

:15:04.:15:06.

and they work out for each other, and stand up for each other,

:15:07.:15:17.

and that's always pleasing, and come here and win the two points

:15:18.:15:20.

against Leeds, we are desperate to win points, and it's

:15:21.:15:22.

We all made plans at the start of the year,

:15:23.:15:27.

and some of these plans are dashed, aren't they?

:15:28.:15:29.

When you talk about what might happen, I don't think anybody

:15:30.:15:31.

envisions this might be happening to us in anybody's wildest dreams.

:15:32.:15:34.

But you'd hope you're going to get something from it,

:15:35.:15:37.

and you hope that we can all conduct ourselves

:15:38.:15:41.

and operate in such a fashion where there are still

:15:42.:15:44.

Justin Turner and the club has been brilliant.

:15:45.:15:48.

The players have been great, the staff...

:15:49.:15:50.

Working more hours than God sends, and the fans, they have been

:15:51.:15:53.

absolutely sensational in their perseverance

:15:54.:15:54.

STUDIO: Laurent Frayssinous making a point there about the 12 French

:15:55.:16:06.

They've been accused at some times of being an NRL team, if you like,

:16:07.:16:11.

but it is really good, isn't it, for the development

:16:12.:16:14.

of French rugby league, to see these players coming

:16:15.:16:16.

through and to see them in a team that can travel,

:16:17.:16:19.

Well, that's the whole point of them being in Super League,

:16:20.:16:23.

it was to expand the game as far as France, and we would like to see

:16:24.:16:27.

more French players playing in Super League,

:16:28.:16:31.

and there is actually more within the Super League

:16:32.:16:33.

as it is in different teams, so it's fantastic that we are

:16:34.:16:36.

getting these players over playing for the English sides over here.

:16:37.:16:39.

And he makes a good point, having more players in,

:16:40.:16:41.

I'd like to see even more players, but they are a great team.

:16:42.:16:45.

They are definitely competitors for the end of the season.

:16:46.:16:49.

That competition is going to be livened up by this Catalan side.

:16:50.:16:52.

Leeds are pretty much now writing off making the top eight

:16:53.:16:54.

How do you think they will approach the next six weeks

:16:55.:16:59.

Well, they have to start finding some form.

:17:00.:17:03.

You don't want to be going into those middle eights

:17:04.:17:06.

with the form they've been showing on the footy field,

:17:07.:17:08.

they have to go out there and try and prove each and every week,

:17:09.:17:11.

and put all the field dramas behind them and start some football,

:17:12.:17:17.

because they need form going into that last section.

:17:18.:17:19.

Amongst the big news of the week, Zak Hardaker being transfer listed

:17:20.:17:24.

for ?300,000, looking to go to the NRL.

:17:25.:17:26.

I'm surprised that he would be going, if I'm being honest,

:17:27.:17:31.

but with his form this year, I can see why he'd want to go.

:17:32.:17:34.

I think it would be a fresh start for him, a fresh start for the club

:17:35.:17:38.

as well, because his performances this season have probably...

:17:39.:17:40.

He's a shadow of himself from last year, and I think there's probably

:17:41.:17:43.

more to it than that, because he's a player that deserves

:17:44.:17:46.

to be playing well in a good team, but he's got to earn that

:17:47.:17:49.

I think it's a fresh chance for him to go over there and do something

:17:50.:17:55.

with his career now and to step up again and become that

:17:56.:17:58.

superstar that he is, and what he's not showing this year.

:17:59.:18:02.

The Leeds players have been saying they were surprised to hear this.

:18:03.:18:06.

The timing is not ideal, is it, for Leeds?

:18:07.:18:08.

I'm not going into that, as I said, but for him, it's...

:18:09.:18:25.

You know, great experience for him, to go over there and play

:18:26.:18:28.

He showed last year that he was a menace still,

:18:29.:18:32.

and he was the best player in the Super League,

:18:33.:18:34.

so why not go over there and challenge yourself,

:18:35.:18:37.

and obviously been linked to the Raiders as well,

:18:38.:18:39.

where I'm from, I think that would be a great place

:18:40.:18:41.

It's a great team down there, and they've got English

:18:42.:18:45.

players as well down there, so it would be a great place

:18:46.:18:48.

And from Leeds' point of view, it's one thing to lose people

:18:49.:18:51.

who retire at the end of their career, as we had

:18:52.:18:54.

with Peacock, Sinfield and Leuluai, but they would have been building

:18:55.:18:57.

around someone like Zak Hardaker, wouldn't they?

:18:58.:18:58.

That is a big blow, presumably, for their future plans.

:18:59.:19:01.

In my opinion, it's only a massive loss to Leeds if he's playing well,

:19:02.:19:04.

because if he's not playing the best he can, then he's in that team

:19:05.:19:08.

and they're building around someone who's not on fire.

:19:09.:19:10.

The only way he is useful to that team if he's not playing

:19:11.:19:14.

That's how ruthless the sport is and the game is.

:19:15.:19:18.

And it may be beneficial to both parties, and if that's the case,

:19:19.:19:21.

Now, if he's playing absolutely fantastically well

:19:22.:19:24.

and they are building around him and then he still wants to go,

:19:25.:19:27.

then there's probably even more issues, but they've got

:19:28.:19:30.

to get the most out of him and what they can out

:19:31.:19:33.

of Zak Hardaker, whether it be money or the fact that he's playing.

:19:34.:19:36.

Now, we've discovred discovered quite a few secrets

:19:37.:19:38.

about the players over the course of the season,

:19:39.:19:40.

This week it's the turn of the Super League match

:19:41.:19:44.

I think I'd be a lion, and that's because I like to be a leader.

:19:45.:19:53.

Probably an owl?

:19:54.:19:54.

I just like having a view, looking over things.

:19:55.:19:59.

A meerkat, cos I'm really nosy, I like popping my head up

:20:00.:20:02.

A zebra, cos most things are black and white.

:20:03.:20:08.

The one I've got, I quite like the job I've got.

:20:09.:20:26.

I quite enjoy the job that I do actually, I'll

:20:27.:20:28.

I always wanted to be a pilot, commercial airline pilot,

:20:29.:20:32.

I'd probably have to go back a little while to the '80s

:20:33.:20:43.

and Dallas, I absolutely loved it.

:20:44.:20:45.

It would have to be either Toy Story 1 or Monsters Inc.

:20:46.:20:54.

Cos he wanted every decision to go his way.

:20:55.:21:15.

He's always got a joke up his sleeve.

:21:16.:21:17.

He's always having a bit of banter, asking us if we'd seen

:21:18.:21:20.

He generally thought that he was the refereeign

:21:21.:21:39.

I'd say Ben, Ben Thaler likes the sound of his whistle.

:21:40.:21:50.

But he likes the sound of his own voice a bit more.

:21:51.:21:53.

I have a reputation for not blowing mine very much.

:21:54.:21:55.

Likes the sound of his own whistle or voice?

:21:56.:21:58.

If it's his voice, it's Ben Thaler.

:21:59.:22:00.

I'm not sure about the sound of his own whistle,

:22:01.:22:07.

but Ben Thaler loves the sound of his own voice.

:22:08.:22:09.

Whistle, not sure, but if you'd said voice, I'd have said Ben.

:22:10.:22:13.

But if I'm going to go with whistle, erm...

:22:14.:22:15.

Nice to know they've got a sense of humour, isn't it?

:22:16.:22:25.

Ben Thaler comes in for a bit of stick there.

:22:26.:22:28.

And so he should, he deserves a bit of stick.

:22:29.:22:30.

He always seems to talk more when he's on Sky as well,

:22:31.:22:33.

He's always talking to me in games, but not when the Sky

:22:34.:22:37.

camera is out there, it is strange.

:22:38.:22:38.

Nice to see neither of you are the cheekiest players.

:22:39.:22:41.

Lee Briers, that was a no-brainer, wasn't it, that one?

:22:42.:22:43.

Gareth Hewer was the man in the middle for Wigan's trip

:22:44.:22:46.

to Salford on Friday night, and our man behind

:22:47.:22:48.

COMMENTATOR: Smith in to dummy half for Wigan.

:22:49.:22:53.

Moves it wide, they are going to push it through hands.

:22:54.:22:56.

Pokes a little kick through to the corner.

:22:57.:23:00.

Tomkins up against his former club and his brother, of

:23:01.:23:09.

Salford will move the ball inside, it is Lui on the last.

:23:10.:23:16.

Looking to kick up high towards his left hand side,

:23:17.:23:19.

He pokes a little kick through, Wigan will deal with this.

:23:20.:23:23.

Tautai and Isa both clear, and Lui puts up another

:23:24.:23:40.

Tomkins's run towards it, it will bounce short of his run,

:23:41.:23:46.

and Salford will come up with the ball here,

:23:47.:23:48.

And Dobson slides under, and Salford take the lead.

:23:49.:23:57.

He has been a really good signing for Wigan,

:23:58.:24:05.

arrived from Widnes in the autumn, and here goes Powell to Williams.

:24:06.:24:10.

He is dancing across the line, he has put another kick through,

:24:11.:24:13.

Wigan right at the end of the half here.

:24:14.:24:28.

Can they find a try to go in ahead of the break

:24:29.:24:31.

Smith will land the drop goal, and on the hooter, Wigan

:24:32.:24:43.

Smith, flat ball onto Tautai, and Salford

:24:44.:24:47.

Dummy half, options left and right, and it will come

:24:48.:24:54.

Smith, and they are like clockwork here, great hands,

:24:55.:25:04.

They have got a seven-point buffer at the moment, Wigan.

:25:05.:25:12.

Powell will move it to Smith, who moves it out to the right-hand

:25:13.:25:18.

side, a little short ball into the hands,

:25:19.:25:19.

and he is streaking clear, Salford will just about make

:25:20.:25:22.

the tackle but they have got it away through Smith again.

:25:23.:25:25.

That left edge combination, and Wigan edged further ahead.

:25:26.:25:37.

Continuing to batter away at this Wigan line.

:25:38.:25:44.

Tautai and Crosby peel away from the ruck.

:25:45.:25:46.

It is to Lui now, a little short ball into the hands of Josh Jones,

:25:47.:25:50.

and he touches down under the sticks.

:25:51.:25:54.

So much probing from dummy half by Tomkins.

:25:55.:26:01.

To Lui, and it is a familiar to look to this one,

:26:02.:26:06.

as Hauraki is snared on this left-hand side.

:26:07.:26:08.

Kopczak, barrelled out the back to Lui.

:26:09.:26:14.

Strides along the line, a cutout to this right-hand

:26:15.:26:16.

He has wrapped up the drama, but it could be too little,

:26:17.:26:22.

STUDIO: An arm-wrestle of a game, that, three wins out

:26:23.:26:30.

How important for them to keep in touch with the top?

:26:31.:26:50.

STUDIO: An arm-wrestle of a game, that, three wins out

:26:51.:26:52.

How important for them to keep in touch with the top?

:26:53.:26:56.

Obviously they are in the top four, but I think therefore

:26:57.:26:58.

Nothing special, but consistent, and we have seen that left edge,

:26:59.:27:02.

and Charnley, we have to watch over him on Friday night,

:27:03.:27:05.

and we have Wigan, we can just see Sarginson playing well

:27:06.:27:08.

And what about the game controllers well of Matty Smith?

:27:09.:27:12.

I think Matty is consistent, and Williams is finding some form.

:27:13.:27:14.

He has been out injured, but he adds some dimension to that team,

:27:15.:27:17.

and I think with Tomkins getting some confidence back

:27:18.:27:19.

from his injury, I think they will be challenging

:27:20.:27:21.

They have had their issues off the pitch, Wigan,

:27:22.:27:25.

an internal investigation going on there, John

:27:26.:27:27.

How tough is that when something like that is going on in

:27:28.:27:30.

I think it is something that is tough, but it is also

:27:31.:27:36.

something you have to get over as well, because you have to think

:27:37.:27:39.

about next week and whether he comes back in the next few weeks or not,

:27:40.:27:43.

it makes no difference, because that team that Wigan

:27:44.:27:45.

They work really hard for each other, very aggressive in the style

:27:46.:27:49.

of play that they have, and they always get to the final.

:27:50.:27:51.

This is one of those teams, semis, finals,

:27:52.:27:53.

But this year, it has been a little bit tough.

:27:54.:27:58.

I think all the other teams have stepped up around them as well,

:27:59.:28:00.

so they are doing it tough and they have done throughout

:28:01.:28:03.

the season, but I think they are used to that, in a way,

:28:04.:28:06.

and they still find a way to battle through and win games.

:28:07.:28:09.

And Salford very much going toe to toe with them,

:28:10.:28:12.

but Ian Watson saying we did some dumb things.

:28:13.:28:14.

Is that the difference, that they just have to learn

:28:15.:28:16.

in games like that not to do those dumb things?

:28:17.:28:19.

I think so, especially against the top four teams.

:28:20.:28:21.

Wigan is a team that you can't let your foot off the throat,

:28:22.:28:24.

as they say, in any part of the game, or they can hurt you.

:28:25.:28:27.

I think that is where Salford, if they learn, they can challenge.

:28:28.:28:30.

They should be in the top eight, they have had some points deducted,

:28:31.:28:33.

but they have been a class competitor last year.

:28:34.:28:36.

So, it is Hull FC who lead the way after 17 rounds, and with Leigh top

:28:37.:28:39.

of the championship, we thought we would take a look

:28:40.:28:42.

at their meetings in the semifinals of the 1979 floodlit trophy.

:28:43.:28:45.

The first Floodlit semifinal comes from a windy Boulevard in Hull.

:28:46.:29:06.

It is Hull against Leigh, it is in fact our first visit

:29:07.:29:09.

to the Boulevard where Hull have been in commanding form

:29:10.:29:11.

since they were promoted to the first decision.

:29:12.:29:19.

It should be a very close and a very exciting semifinal,

:29:20.:29:21.

so with the commentary, here is Eddie Waring.

:29:22.:29:33.

EDDIE WARING: It goes forward to Alan Rathbone,

:29:34.:29:36.

Dennison with the chance to get the first point on the board.

:29:37.:29:41.

And it was well taken, because it was a flapper.

:29:42.:29:45.

Woods looks to go, seven tries this season.

:29:46.:29:47.

Coming into the play, has been for most of this match.

:29:48.:29:53.

The winner, Charlie Stone, and inside, Evans.

:29:54.:29:55.

And a penalty for Vince Farrar, the captain talking.

:29:56.:30:15.

Talking to Charlie, the referees do make clear why they give penalties.

:30:16.:30:27.

And there goes the official hooter, and on, the crowd.

:30:28.:30:52.

I will hand you back to Richard Duckinfield.

:30:53.:30:58.

I hope the rest don't get any ideas from that!

:30:59.:31:09.

Away from the rugby league, what about Dick

:31:10.:31:11.

I was wondering where he got it from, do they still do them and do

:31:12.:31:17.

they do them in a big man-size, because in winter up near my house,

:31:18.:31:20.

I look forward to you sporting that particular colour combination.

:31:21.:31:24.

There were five games on a busy Friday night.

:31:25.:31:26.

We've seen four of them, the final one put Eorl Crabtree

:31:27.:31:29.

and Huddersfield up against Castleford,

:31:30.:31:31.

and it was Super League's top try-scorer who was first over

:31:32.:31:33.

Yes, a disappointing day for us, and again, Denny Solomona

:31:34.:31:37.

is just absolutely on fire, scoring tries,

:31:38.:31:39.

We made it very difficult for ourselves, but we got back

:31:40.:31:43.

Jamie Ellis with a pass wide to Leroy Cudjoe, who raced for

:31:44.:31:48.

the line with Jermaine McGillvary, just a bit of composure to pass

:31:49.:31:51.

the ball back inside, and great support.

:31:52.:31:55.

But for us, we just didn't click, and as the game went on,

:31:56.:31:58.

it was sloppy defence, one-on-one missed tackles

:31:59.:32:00.

and knock-on is, which really cost us dearly in the end.

:32:01.:32:04.

You were shaking your head watching that earlier.

:32:05.:32:09.

Because it's just not what we expect from ourselves.

:32:10.:32:11.

We get ourselves into a position where we should make tackles.

:32:12.:32:14.

We get the numbers there, but off the back of it,

:32:15.:32:17.

we slip out of those tackles, and we just seem to be scoring easy

:32:18.:32:20.

tries rather than working really hard for them.

:32:21.:32:22.

Don't get me wrong, Castleford's attack is sensational,

:32:23.:32:24.

We kept getting ourselves back into the game, but I think

:32:25.:32:29.

we were 30-10 down at one point, and we didn't deserve to get back

:32:30.:32:32.

We scored a couple of tries to make it a little bit closer at the end,

:32:33.:32:40.

but this is just off the back of a scrum, and there is no way it

:32:41.:32:44.

should be scoring the corner off the back of a scrum like that.

:32:45.:32:47.

What did you make of Castleford overall?

:32:48.:32:49.

Their attack was fantastic again, they scored some great tries

:32:50.:32:53.

like that off the floor, pass it up to Jake Webster.

:32:54.:32:56.

But I think they will want to improve as well.

:32:57.:32:58.

I don't think they were fantastic, they made a few errors themselves,

:32:59.:33:01.

and if we were attacking better, we had about four or five sets back

:33:02.:33:04.

If we could attack and throw the ball around and score points,

:33:05.:33:08.

it would have been a different sort of game, but they worked hard,

:33:09.:33:15.

the defence on the line was brilliant, their attack

:33:16.:33:17.

was brilliant, but they made a few errors that which they will probably

:33:18.:33:20.

How tough are you guys finding it at the moment?

:33:21.:33:24.

It is a dogfight down at the bottom, in the basement, and it is something

:33:25.:33:28.

we have not been used to in the past few seasons for me personally,

:33:29.:33:31.

I have been there before, I know how hard it is,

:33:32.:33:34.

but something needs to change mentally and physically.

:33:35.:33:36.

Our final match tonight is at Bellevue.

:33:37.:33:38.

Wakefield took on Hull Kingston Rovers and Stuart Pyke was watching.

:33:39.:33:45.

Of course, the tale of two coaches here at Bellevue, James Webster

:33:46.:33:47.

appointed coach in March, replacing Chris Chester,

:33:48.:33:49.

Kelly and Campese could be so influential for Hull Kingston Rovers

:33:50.:33:55.

Kieran Dixon opens the scoring for Hull Kingston Rovers.

:33:56.:34:23.

And Campese involved in everything at the moment.

:34:24.:34:29.

Lunt plays the ball quickly, and Kelly, that is a great offload.

:34:30.:34:40.

What a start for Hull Kingston Rovers.

:34:41.:34:51.

Brave with ball in hand, and getting the rewards.

:34:52.:34:58.

As dominant an opening quarter as you could possibly imagine here.

:34:59.:35:02.

Wakefield just powerless at the moment to stop this

:35:03.:35:11.

Hull Kingston Rovers attack, and this could be another one

:35:12.:35:14.

And again, they have come to this left-hand side.

:35:15.:35:33.

Campese, Dixon away, and Shaun Lunt, they won't stop him.

:35:34.:35:38.

Incredible, four tries in 20 minutes, and Shaun Lunt

:35:39.:35:40.

We haven't seen this very often in this first half.

:35:41.:35:57.

Wakefield inside Hull Kingston Rovers' territory.

:35:58.:36:01.

They have got space out wide, and Bill Tupou will score.

:36:02.:36:05.

Finally, something for Wakefield and Chris Chester to shout about.

:36:06.:36:18.

Well, this is as good as we have seen from

:36:19.:36:25.

It really has been an exceptional performance.

:36:26.:36:32.

They haven't finished yet, have they?

:36:33.:36:34.

They are keeping the ball alive, and here's Walker.

:36:35.:36:37.

Walker finds a little bit of space, the ball inside for

:36:38.:36:42.

Green, another marvellous Hull Kingston Rovers try.

:36:43.:36:46.

The ball goes inside, and this could be another try for Wakefield.

:36:47.:37:02.

They will have to be a whole lot better in the second half, that's

:37:03.:37:08.

What have Wakefield got in the locker?

:37:09.:37:20.

The break down the middle from Ashurst again.

:37:21.:37:24.

They have got space inside for a Finn, a lovely little

:37:25.:37:26.

We had to score first in the second half, and they have, through Craig

:37:27.:37:36.

Kelly again involved in everything Rovers are doing.

:37:37.:37:45.

Lunt, and here is that man Kelly, and Campese, they have got

:37:46.:37:53.

Well, has the Wakefield comeback been snuffed out very

:37:54.:38:10.

It is a tall order now for Wakefield to get

:38:11.:38:29.

The break from Blair on the far side.

:38:30.:38:34.

Brilliant hat-trick for Kieran Dixon.

:38:35.:38:41.

Two tries in two minute for Hull Kingston Rovers.

:38:42.:38:43.

Campese, Mulhern, a lovely off-load the Kelly.

:38:44.:38:58.

Well, they are ripping Wakefield apart down the middle.

:38:59.:39:01.

Well, Chris Kendall, the referee, will send this one

:39:02.:39:13.

That could be an awful error from Wakefield.

:39:14.:39:21.

No problem with the onside, again, Kelly

:39:22.:39:23.

For Rovers and James Greenwood. Everything has gone right for Hull

:39:24.:39:40.

Well, desperation here for Wakefield.

:39:41.:40:02.

Kelly has got the space, and I don't think anybody

:40:03.:40:05.

What a performance this has been from Albert Kelly, and he rounds it

:40:06.:40:10.

It is becoming a rout, it is becoming embarrassing

:40:11.:40:25.

They just seem to be able to score at will.

:40:26.:40:30.

Campese, fantastic, what a great try.

:40:31.:40:41.

Campese, vision, excellence, Blair with the try.

:40:42.:40:43.

It is 50 points, it is ten tries for Hull Kingston Rovers.

:40:44.:40:52.

What a night for them, for James Webster.

:40:53.:41:03.

We saved the best till last for you, Terry.

:41:04.:41:05.

How desperate were you lot for that one?

:41:06.:41:07.

Where we sit on the table, Wakefield just above us,

:41:08.:41:11.

going into a tough period for us, six games and probably

:41:12.:41:13.

for them in the top eight, so it is going to be a tough

:41:14.:41:16.

run for us, and just get some confidence,

:41:17.:41:18.

Kieran Dixon, confidence for him, three tries in a game

:41:19.:41:22.

that he wasn't supposed to play, we had a young player pull out

:41:23.:41:25.

crook, so he got his chance and took it with both hands.

:41:26.:41:28.

We will grab some confidence from that and go forward.

:41:29.:41:30.

It is one of those undiscernable things, but could you feel

:41:31.:41:44.

very quickly in that you were in the ascendancy?

:41:45.:41:46.

I was thinking, what can I do to get us out of this already,

:41:47.:41:51.

it was only a minute into the game, but from then on, we just completed,

:41:52.:41:54.

got down there and, and that is what happens when you

:41:55.:41:57.

You score points, and they tired out quite quickly after that.

:41:58.:42:01.

Albert Kelly talked about you post match and how important

:42:02.:42:03.

you were to him, but how important is he when he is playing

:42:04.:42:06.

He is so strong, and you have just seen some of those clips there,

:42:07.:42:12.

some of the tries that he set up, and some of the tries

:42:13.:42:15.

that he did score, he is quick, he is strong and he is just one

:42:16.:42:19.

And is he one of those players to defend against, that you just

:42:20.:42:23.

Yes, he does have that power and pace as well,

:42:24.:42:27.

because like you say, he is a strong person,

:42:28.:42:29.

but he has great skills as well, that kick around the back door.

:42:30.:42:32.

They did get a helping hand at times, or a helping backheel

:42:33.:42:35.

in that case, but it is his pace, and he has shown this before,

:42:36.:42:39.

but then he got injured, and he really struggled

:42:40.:42:41.

And now he seems to be a different person.

:42:42.:42:45.

He seems a lot fitter, a lot faster, and he looks

:42:46.:42:47.

And how importamt to keep you fit, keep Albert Kelly fit,

:42:48.:42:55.

and Shaun Lunt, to have that triumvate in the middle?

:42:56.:42:57.

What every team wants is their key roles fit.

:42:58.:43:00.

Ben is injured, and the young kid has done a great

:43:01.:43:04.

job filling in there, it is a new role to him,

:43:05.:43:06.

And for Wakefield, this is really the first proper hiccup, two defeats

:43:07.:43:11.

Is this where he starts to get tested as a coach?

:43:12.:43:15.

Yes, I believe so, because this is his first test, really,

:43:16.:43:18.

because things in that game didn't go Wakefield's way,

:43:19.:43:20.

it is the bounce of the ball, and they fell off a few tackles that

:43:21.:43:23.

It is a big week this week as well, so I would expect a response

:43:24.:43:34.

from the back of that, but they have to do something

:43:35.:43:38.

about it as well, they can't just think that they will remain positive

:43:39.:43:41.

They have got to change something now because it has gone wrong,

:43:42.:43:45.

but at the same time, they are good team,

:43:46.:43:47.

and you know that when they get back at their table.

:43:48.:43:50.

It could be an interesting couple of weeks.

:43:51.:43:52.

A big win for the Hull Kingston Rovers coach, James Webster,

:43:53.:43:55.

let's see where that has left him and everyone else in the First

:43:56.:43:58.

Rovers' win at Belle Vue moves them above Salford. Castleford go back

:43:59.:44:08.

above Wakefield, but there is no change at the top, where the first

:44:09.:44:15.

four teams all won. Warrington against Hull is the standout match

:44:16.:44:19.

of around 18 on Friday night, when Wigan go to Hull KR, and Leeds face

:44:20.:44:27.

Salford. It all kicks off again with Castleford against Widnes on

:44:28.:44:34.

Thursday. That is just about it for this week. My thanks to Terry and to

:44:35.:44:42.
