The busiest week on the Supdr League calendar is here.

We have arrived at Easter whth half a dozen rounds on the clock

and it was Widnes, Warrington, and Wigan who were leading the way.

The first super league team to win at the DW Stadium in 21 months in

was great. We take a step forward. Everybody talks about our attack,

but our defence showed char`cter and resilience. When we spoke at the

preseason launch we talked `bout you being heroic losers in a few matches

last year and you wanted to get rid of that tag. We are seeing

ruthlessness, aren't we? I think the talent we've brought in. We have

slightly relied on work ethhc. How we have worked each other over the

last few years. We've kept that and added a bit of talent. I mentioned

Chris Bridges, Houston, those guys can get asked those wins. Wd can

meet some really big sides now and consistently do that. We will talk

about a particular moment. Rhys Hanbury, at the heart of thhs try

club he has come on for you, hasn't he? He's a great player and has been

for years. Still relatively young. He has played at full-back. He has

only done it for four years. He is growing into it. Attack is nobody

like him. When he gets a bit of space... You know, he still has a

lot to do. And he defends off a big man in Anthony Gelling. Shotlder try

for Josh Charnley. Our other teams starting to have a look at Widnes

Vikings? The proof is in thd pudding. They have been gre`t in the

opening rounds of the Super League. This was a great performancd against

a very strong Wigan team. When you go to Wigan it is always a tough

game. Widnes Vikings hung in when they had if you tries disallowed,

things were not going their way They hung in and they got their

chances late in the game took them and got victory. Davis

he is a tricky player for you, isn't he, Heremaia? Any forward who can do

80 minutes, you know, you h`ve to take your hat off to him. The size

great night for Ben Crooks `nd Castleford. They got a hot

Warrington. Warrington are playing great at the moment. A lot of the

away you have to defend agahn. It mounts up on you. They struggle with

a few injuries at the moment. A game against Warrington when thex are

playing so well, it isn't good timing for them. What are you going

to do? They are a well balanced side. They are playing a bit more

structured even though they have the off-load, they have a bit of a

structured attack. They are a very dangerous side. Hopefully wd can

match that defensively but when you see some of the tries they `re

scoring, they are probably the form team in the league.

He has been coming good for a few years and I think

I think we probably got them on an off day.

It is a two-way game, you have to defend well and attack

well and they probably did not attack as well as they wantdd.

They have lost points but if they can tighten up

what they need and they need to start picking up

We did and things seemed to fall apart from there.

The worst thing we could have done was score early because I think

we got a bit complacent and we came away from the things that wd have

been doing pretty well these last few weeks,

Should closely. The energy they are playing with, but we played them and

it was a tough game and likd I mentioned, they have lost a few

games but they have been close and they are having a good date. I think

they will come good, they are missing key personnel and when they

come back they will be tough to beat. They will have wanted at our

How would you describe that first half in particular?

Wasn't great, I don't think. Wasn't a great defensive

game by either side. There is with the ball

Lots of good tries scored, but it was scrappy.

I don't think either side will be proud of it.

What do you put this down to, just one of those nights?

You can have that, but once you make errors you start

second-guessing your skill and timing.

That is when you compound things. Kicking into people's hands.

Jack won't be happy with his start. He is a fantastic player.

But they started the game so poorly. They got into the game.

But it takes an awful lot of energy to get back into it.

I know you are in touch with a lot of your old team-mates,

how are they feeling so far about the season?

It has been up and down for them. Four good wins but they didn't play

great against Salford. It wasn't a great

performance this night. Not a great start for them

but I think all teams have tps and downs in a season.

Saint Helens will be hoping this is a bit of a time when thex are not

playing as well and they st`rt hitting some form this week when

they have a big game against Wigan coming up.

Who would be a coach? But Leeds, particularly

in the second half, defensively they needed tightening up.

How important will that be for them going forward?

It is massive. Big concerns.

Even if Saints played poor it is never an easy game.

When Danny McGuire comes back, Ablett was back on he played

fantastic, so they started to filter him back.

I think Leeds will be there or thereabouts come the end

of the year. Everybody is talking

about them evolving with thd players who have left.

To have had the players thex have with the key players who have left,

is it about getting more experience, and then would you see

Leeds coming good? Yeah.

Leeds are a champion side. It was always going to take them

some time with the stars like Peacock, Sinfield,

and Leuluai going. Compounding that with the injuries

to Maguire, who is the new captain, it was going to be

a tough start for them. As time goes on they will start

hitting the straps. They will be the Leeds

that we know of old. Liam Sutcliffe was out

for a long time with injury. He has had to shoulder

a lot of responsibility. But you start to see

the Liam Sutcliffe that we saw at the beginning of last

year, do you feel? I sort of feel sorry for hil.

Already stepping into massive boots in Kevin Sinfield.

But he is doing it without an accomplished start behind him.

The best will come out of Lham when Danny is back and he c`n take

a lead role and Sutcliffe c`n play off the back of him.

He is growing as the season goes on, as well.

embarrassing. It all comes down to attitude. Everything you do in life

is decision. If people choose to play like that they will not play

tough start the season. Havdn't helped. They have lost Robinson and

Brett Ferres. You would havd thought they would have been big on the

culture of the club. They h`ve had a tough start. Last couple of years

they have been near the top so you would expect them to turn things

around. They have announced the signing of Ryan Brierly. Fotr and a

half year deal. What can he bring to the Giants, and how big a move is it

will play at the minute. Danny Brough is injured so he may come

is the area they will need to improve. You don't often sed the
