We are in a period unique in the history of the sport. Three players

:00:00.:00:39.

with double figure Grand Slam victories all active at the same

:00:40.:00:49.

time. This evening, the most decorated, Roger Federer, takes on

:00:50.:00:55.

Swiss compatriot, Stan Wawrinka in the second semifinal. Before that,

:00:56.:01:02.

the two giants of the game come face to face, stand toe to toe, go

:01:03.:01:05.

head-to-head for a place in tomorrow's final. The dominant force

:01:06.:01:10.

in men's tennis, the defending champion here in London. I don't

:01:11.:01:15.

think it gets much better than watching Rafael Nadal play. They say

:01:16.:01:26.

live in the now, embrace tennis's golden era, it won't be around

:01:27.:01:28.

forever. It's been a privilege to watch these

:01:29.:01:41.

great champions over the years, Roger, Rafa, Novak, 41 Grand Slam

:01:42.:01:47.

titles between them, but it is not about the numbers, it is about what

:01:48.:01:50.

they have brought to the game. This is a proper match today. It is 23-22

:01:51.:01:58.

in the head-to-head. This is a era-defining rivalry, these two

:01:59.:02:06.

guys. I mean, there's something possibly special goes on when they

:02:07.:02:10.

play against each other. I can't wait to see Rafa throwing it all at

:02:11.:02:14.

Novak today. This is great fun. Djokovic against Nadal, that is our

:02:15.:02:17.

match today. Those three, and we talk about it, it is a golden era,

:02:18.:02:22.

isn't it? It is. When you reflect on those numbers, the Grand Slams, we

:02:23.:02:32.

have had some amazing eras before, Sampras, Agassi, Edberg and Lendl.

:02:33.:02:37.

It does look like Djokovic will be dominating for a few more years to m

:02:38.:02:43.

co-. It is amazing to see how this rivalry has unfolded. This is their

:02:44.:02:47.

46th meeting, the most of any rivalry in the history of the game.

:02:48.:02:51.

For me, Djokovic starts as the favourite. They are lovely matches.

:02:52.:02:56.

They have had so many great matches over the years? You think about the

:02:57.:03:01.

rallies they put together. They take the athleticism to a new level,

:03:02.:03:04.

Federer arrived first and took over for a while. He was joined by Rafael

:03:05.:03:09.

Nadal, you saw the flash light pictures from the 2008 final at

:03:10.:03:12.

Wimbledon, then Djokovic arrived, and this is the Djokovic era, how

:03:13.:03:16.

did he take over from Nadal and Federer? Stanislas Wawrinka and Andy

:03:17.:03:22.

Murray are a point of the argument. These two are the boss. There is a

:03:23.:03:26.

special buzz around the O2 and they will both get a huge cheer.

:03:27.:03:34.

Including 14 Grand Slam and 27 Masters 1000 trophies, from Spain,

:03:35.:03:36.

Rafael Nadal! Ladies and gentlemen, making his

:03:37.:04:10.

ninth successive appearance, winner of 58 titles, including 26 Masters

:04:11.:04:16.

1000 trophies and ten Grand Slams, the defending champion, and the ATP

:04:17.:04:22.

world number one, from Serbia, Novak Djokovic!

:04:23.:04:24.

A great atmosphere there is. This tournament is very special, great

:04:25.:04:59.

crowds, they are big tennis fans, and they are looking forward to

:05:00.:05:02.

this. They will enjoy it, both of them chasing records as well. Rafa

:05:03.:05:08.

is looking for his first end-of-year title. But he's won all four Grand

:05:09.:05:12.

Slams, the Davis Cup, he has an Olympic gold in singles, this is the

:05:13.:05:16.

only Major event he is yet to win? That's right. He's got an incredible

:05:17.:05:20.

CV, but the one big tournament he has not been able to win has been

:05:21.:05:24.

the World Tour Finals, he's talked about how he would like to see the

:05:25.:05:27.

year-end Championships played on clay. He would have won it a dozen

:05:28.:05:32.

times then! Probably, to be fair, he's probably got a point with that

:05:33.:05:35.

argument. When you reflect back to this week and this event, there's

:05:36.:05:43.

almost a little bit of uncertainty with round-robin format. There are

:05:44.:05:46.

scenarios where you can lose a match and still go through, that is the

:05:47.:05:50.

way Djokovic got through losing to Federer in the group. Now, it is

:05:51.:05:54.

back to business of the knockout stages, it is the semifinals and it

:05:55.:05:58.

is all to play for. A bit of a question mark, three sets yesterday

:05:59.:06:02.

for Nadal against Ferrer and how much has he got left in the tank?

:06:03.:06:07.

Because he's had such a difficult year and hasn't had all the match

:06:08.:06:10.

wins that he's had previously, he's lost a bit of confidence, look he

:06:11.:06:14.

was so happy to actually win, to be out there competing. I did question

:06:15.:06:18.

it and I still question it. Three-and-a-half hours of tennis

:06:19.:06:20.

yesterday, two-and-a-half hours of the match and an hour of practice.

:06:21.:06:24.

We will see if it's affected him today.

:06:25.:06:28.

UMPIRE: Good afternoon, gentlemen. We are using the net machine and we

:06:29.:06:33.

have TV change-overs, so please be seated until I say "time" and we are

:06:34.:06:42.

using Hawk-Eye. Use your voice, say "challenge" loud and clear and the

:06:43.:06:47.

challenge has to be immediately. 25 seconds. Any questions? Heads or

:06:48.:07:01.

tails? Heads is called. Tails. Novak? Serve. Picture with Sharon.

:07:02.:07:11.

They look like a couple of heavyweight boxers getting ready

:07:12.:07:17.

before a bout, they are both so ready for this. Very much so. I

:07:18.:07:23.

think as Andrew mentioned yesterday, Rafa having that long match, I feel

:07:24.:07:27.

that his year hasn't been as good as he would have expected, so,

:07:28.:07:31.

therefore, he will be fresh and he know this is is the last tournament

:07:32.:07:34.

of the year. He will be wanting to let it all hang out today. We saw

:07:35.:07:38.

there just how the group finished and who came through. We mentioned

:07:39.:07:44.

that Nadal was unbeaten here and Djokovic lost his match to Federer,

:07:45.:07:48.

but we have mentioned the big three, and Roger is through, but there is a

:07:49.:07:52.

fourth man in the semifinals, we know now that it is Stanislas

:07:53.:07:56.

Wawrinka. He came through in straight sets against Andy Murray.

:07:57.:08:01.

Murray was a breakdown, but he was 4-2 up in the tie-break, and then

:08:02.:08:07.

lost it 7-4. I watched the match, I thought Andy was - I think it is

:08:08.:08:13.

right now for Andy to get ready for this magnificent achievement which

:08:14.:08:15.

he is right on the verge of next week, the Davis Cup. The fact he

:08:16.:08:19.

lost this match is a disappointment. We want to see him play. Of course,

:08:20.:08:24.

I wanted him to win this and play Federer, it would have been

:08:25.:08:27.

fantastic. There was a lot of good things that happened in the match

:08:28.:08:30.

for him. He had that chance in the first set. But now his tournament is

:08:31.:08:36.

over, it is OK, rest now, be with Kim for a day or two, get some

:08:37.:08:40.

practice in, and go to Belgium and be ready. This was in the wrong

:08:41.:08:44.

place for him, this event. He didn't play great. They were in a different

:08:45.:08:50.

place. He didn't want to have any excuses, they changed that, it is

:08:51.:08:53.

over for Andy and I'm sort of glad it is. A good effort last night but

:08:54.:08:59.

not quite enough. He certainly had his chances in the second set, he

:09:00.:09:04.

was two breaks of serve down and nearly broke back, but Stan Wawrinka

:09:05.:09:09.

was too tough. Stan has had a great record here, three appearances at

:09:10.:09:13.

the end-of-year Championships and he's been in the semifinal three

:09:14.:09:17.

times. Andy Murray now has to concentrate on the Davis Cup. It is

:09:18.:09:22.

Stan Wawrinka who goes through, a repeat of last year's semifinal

:09:23.:09:26.

against Roger Federer. A great atmosphere here last night as well.

:09:27.:09:31.

So, here is the semifinal line-up. We are looking forward to Djokovic

:09:32.:09:35.

against Nadal, then the all-Swiss affair as Federer takes on Wawrinka.

:09:36.:09:41.

Now, today we have just heard the sad news that one of the great

:09:42.:09:49.

pioneers of BBC Sport's broadcasting died peacefully yesterday at the age

:09:50.:09:55.

of 94. He was the first presenter of Grandstand and many other iconic

:09:56.:09:58.

programmes. Our thoughts with his family and friends.

:09:59.:10:05.

How he would certainly have enjoyed the sporting theatre that we have on

:10:06.:10:10.

offer here this afternoon. And these guys offer so much, they know each

:10:11.:10:14.

other's game so well, they play the big points well. But is Rafael Nadal

:10:15.:10:18.

still the player he was because Novak has won all three meetings

:10:19.:10:23.

this year? He is getting a lot closer. We have talked a lot about

:10:24.:10:28.

Rafa's performance in Miami when he gave the press conference saying how

:10:29.:10:31.

nervous he was getting in the biggest moments in his matches and

:10:32.:10:34.

how that was affecting his performances. In the last five or

:10:35.:10:37.

six weeks, he's started to get his game back to where we know and love

:10:38.:10:42.

to see. He's been very aggressive, I have been impressed with the way he

:10:43.:10:45.

has been flattening his backhand out, which will be an important shot

:10:46.:10:49.

against Djokovic. Djokovic will look to pin him in that backhand corner

:10:50.:10:54.

and use the forehand down the line, so I think Rafa can go out there and

:10:55.:10:58.

be ultra-aggressive today, he doesn't have anything to lose, he's

:10:59.:11:02.

got lots to gain, and he will be keen to try and keep his nose in

:11:03.:11:06.

front. Good to see he is enjoying himself. He was asked after the

:11:07.:11:10.

match, it went three sets, will that affect him, he said, "I don't know,

:11:11.:11:15.

maybe it will." He said, "Winning that match gave he 200 points." That

:11:16.:11:21.

is like winning a 250 event. And securing another victory against a

:11:22.:11:25.

world top ten. It is about building confidence? That is right. When you

:11:26.:11:28.

have struggled on the big points - he went from the greatest big-point

:11:29.:11:34.

player to number four. He was like number 50 in big-points play. He was

:11:35.:11:39.

losing the big points. He was choking a bit. He is getting nervous

:11:40.:11:46.

and you lose your forehand and you lose the believe in yourself. To

:11:47.:11:51.

have this man back at the top table is just fantastic. Earlier this

:11:52.:11:55.

year, legitimate questions were being asked about whether he would

:11:56.:11:59.

ever be as good as he's been before again. I think we are seeing now,

:12:00.:12:04.

this is the first signs, this tournament, that he is ready to go

:12:05.:12:09.

back to the top. You say 45 meetings, it is great rivalry.

:12:10.:12:13.

There's been so many great rivalries over the years, and we have enjoyed

:12:14.:12:23.

so many of them. 46 meetings and Djokovic-Federer, Lendl-McEnroe. My

:12:24.:12:26.

favourite isn't there, Connors-McEnroe. Yes. There have

:12:27.:12:32.

been some great rivalries. We want to ask you which rivalry you have

:12:33.:12:40.

enjoyed over the years. That is our question today. You can get in

:12:41.:12:46.

touch. This certainly, Tim, is one of the best? It certainly is.

:12:47.:12:51.

Looking down that list, I think it is interesting not to forget

:12:52.:13:00.

Agassi-Sampras. Back to this match, when Djokovic lost to Federer, there

:13:01.:13:03.

were a lot of people thought that that could be the final as well. And

:13:04.:13:07.

the way that the draw has evolved coming through to the semifinals, I

:13:08.:13:11.

do see Djokovic coming through. He's been so consistent, he's been so

:13:12.:13:14.

dominant in the big matches and I think when you look at this

:13:15.:13:17.

match-up, the way he moves, how aggressive he is from the back of

:13:18.:13:23.

the court, I feel in the baseline exchanges Djokovic wins 60-40, he

:13:24.:13:26.

will come out on top. What a great year he's had. What a great finish

:13:27.:13:29.

to the year. Before losing to Federer, which was a group match, it

:13:30.:13:35.

still didn't matter as much, he was undefeated? You know who Federer

:13:36.:13:39.

picked to win this tournament, he picked Djokovic to win it still. He

:13:40.:13:45.

has to be favourite. In his great year of 2011, he won 70 matches and

:13:46.:13:54.

lost 6. This guy is ridiculous. Great rivalries are based on new

:13:55.:13:59.

standards being set. Rafa has taken a close look at this, thinking, I'm

:14:00.:14:03.

29, I can be number one again. For a lot of reasons, it is fascinating. I

:14:04.:14:08.

would go with what Tim said as well, Djokovic starts as a heavy

:14:09.:14:12.

favourite. He does. For people watching at home, watching these

:14:13.:14:16.

great players play, the angles they create, they make the court look so

:14:17.:14:20.

big for their opponent and make them do so much running? That is right.

:14:21.:14:23.

When you look at their movement and how fast they both are, it is very

:14:24.:14:28.

difficult to hit through them, so to create those opportunities, I think

:14:29.:14:31.

you have to use the angles, you have to try and open up the hole to hit

:14:32.:14:35.

the big shot. We will see Djokovic trying to play the short cross-court

:14:36.:14:40.

to Rafa's backhand, Rafa will be doing the same with his forehand.

:14:41.:14:44.

Then it is who can take the more high-risk shot down the line over

:14:45.:14:47.

the high part of the net into a smaller area of the court that can

:14:48.:14:52.

dominate these baseline exchanges. Friends, family, coaches, they are

:14:53.:14:55.

all courtside. A number of superstars are here as well. We are

:14:56.:14:59.

in for a long afternoon. The rallies will be brutal and in the past, they

:15:00.:15:03.

have had so many memorable matches. The one at the Australian Open 5

:15:04.:15:13.

hours 53 minutes? They are both so solid from the baseline. They are

:15:14.:15:17.

not the quickest in between points. We should settle in for a good, long

:15:18.:15:22.

afternoon of tennis. OK. I can't wait. Andy, all yours.

:15:23.:15:27.

COMMENTARY: Thank you very much. I wonder how long it will be before

:15:28.:15:31.

now and commencement of this match. Rafa does take his time. He is doing

:15:32.:15:37.

his bottle thing. He is one of the most watchable sportsmen in the

:15:38.:15:40.

world, isn't he? There's another one. He's got the boys here, too!

:15:41.:15:47.

Excellent. David playing with his eldest son at Old Trafford the other

:15:48.:15:52.

day, I saw. Was that for UNICEF? That was delightful to see. From one

:15:53.:15:56.

great sportsman to another. Now, here is another one still, Novak

:15:57.:15:58.

Djokovic. Listen to the crowd here. Best of three sets as a reminder.

:15:59.:16:10.

Season-ending Championships. Two more matches for both these players.

:16:11.:16:13.

They will throw the kitchen sink at each other. And it is level.

:16:14.:16:16.

UMPIRE: Ready. Play. A bit closer to the line on the last

:16:17.:17:19.

forehand than he would have liked. It dropped in. Djokovic can't leave

:17:20.:17:30.

the ball in the middle of the court, Rafa's forehand.

:17:31.:17:41.

That is where he is able to create so much spin.

:17:42.:17:56.

A strange one. A loosener from both ends of the court, Djokovic's second

:17:57.:18:03.

serve, 80mph in the middle of the box.

:18:04.:18:23.

Some pretty easy power, isn't it? Incredible!

:18:24.:20:06.

Boris Becker working with Novak Djokovic, one of his star coaches

:20:07.:20:25.

from the past who have joined the ranks back on tour again. Ivanovic

:20:26.:20:35.

with Marin Cilic, Michael Chang with Kei Nishikori, Stefan Edberg with

:20:36.:20:47.

Roger Federer. Magnus Norman with Stanislas Wawrinka. Rafael Nadal

:20:48.:20:51.

resisting all calls when his form wasn't quite so good this year to

:20:52.:20:57.

dispatch with the services of Uncle Toni. He's not one to change a

:20:58.:21:01.

winning game plan easily. Talking of winning game plans, I

:21:02.:21:13.

feel Nadal's really going to have to keep his first serve percentage

:21:14.:21:14.

high. That's so sweetly done. There is no

:21:15.:22:26.

sense of panic about that at all. It's calmly done. It's technically

:22:27.:22:33.

perfect. It's a second serve, exactly as Tim Henman was talking

:22:34.:22:35.

about. Nadal needs first serves. For so many players, this would be a

:22:36.:23:07.

high-risk shot from behind the baseline. Because of his movement,

:23:08.:23:14.

and his balance and technique is so good, the ball is two feet inside

:23:15.:23:19.

the sideline and baseline. What a game of tennis from Novak

:23:20.:24:01.

Djokovic! Unbelievable start. That is technically as close to

:24:02.:24:05.

perfection as you can imagine. It's some statement when Djokovic says

:24:06.:24:10.

I'm going to trade with my backhand to your strength, Rafa, he played

:24:11.:24:17.

six or seven backhands cross-court into Nadal's forehand and that was

:24:18.:24:18.

the best of the lot. Nadal had a lot of great baseline

:24:19.:25:15.

exchanges with Ferrer yesterday, but you felt he could stay in the rally.

:25:16.:25:19.

Against Djokovic, he will have to go for broke earlier.

:25:20.:26:13.

Louis Smith, silver medallist at the gymnastics a couple of weeks back.

:26:14.:26:28.

Max Whitlock got a gold. He was busy taking somebody's selfie for them.

:26:29.:26:34.

In the meantime, Djokovic continues on his merry way here, very

:26:35.:26:38.

comfortable start, ten minutes and on the verge of 3-0. What is Nadal

:26:39.:26:42.

going to do about this? UMPIRE: Mr Nadal is challenging the

:26:43.:27:13.

call on the near side, the ball is called out. One of these ones, that

:27:14.:27:17.

even though it is right under his nose, he won't have a view on this.

:27:18.:27:21.

He is as interested as anybody else. Nadal came across it a bit. It

:27:22.:27:26.

faded. But it stayed on the line. It keeps the game going.

:27:27.:27:33.

Very theatrical voice, himself, hasn't he?

:27:34.:27:43.

Sympathetic to the players, and that is important.

:27:44.:27:50.

Amazing Djokovic, how do you counter this? Rafael Nadal is looking

:27:51.:28:11.

forward to next year and he is laying great foundations. He wants

:28:12.:28:15.

to this win this match. Everybody is trying to catch - there is an idea.

:28:16.:28:21.

He's trying to catch a and work on his game. Everybody is trying to

:28:22.:28:25.

catch Novak Djokovic. Is there a weakness in that Serbian game?

:28:26.:28:32.

Where's ours? A weakness - all I can see is just strengths and when you

:28:33.:28:38.

think about players of the past, plenty of guys who have played from

:28:39.:28:41.

the baseline and have had a big forehand. Now, when you look at

:28:42.:28:45.

Djokovic's game, it is like he is playing with two dominant shots. On

:28:46.:28:51.

his backhand, he is stepping in and drilling the ball cross-court. It

:28:52.:28:55.

leaves you very small areas of the court that you can hit into. You

:28:56.:29:00.

can't outrun him. You are not going to be more flexible than him on the

:29:01.:29:03.

wings, running laterally. You can try and bring him in, but he's

:29:04.:29:14.

worked on his volley. Somebody will come through to respond at some

:29:15.:29:20.

point. He's not unbeatable. At times, when he puts in 20 minutes,

:29:21.:29:28.

25 minutes like he has now - 20 minutes - it is just too good. A

:29:29.:29:34.

great challenge for Rafael Nadal. UMPIRE: Time.

:29:35.:29:49.

Nadal is going to have a lot of crowd support if he can get this

:29:50.:29:52.

close. Rafa's dad, the Spanish David cup

:29:53.:31:25.

captain. They are in the world group again, next year.

:31:26.:31:42.

Rafa took a bit of the first serve there to make sure he got it in and

:31:43.:31:50.

still the same scenario. Return of serve back on his shoelaces.

:31:51.:32:46.

Keeping an excellent length on the forehand side, Nadal. Rewarded with

:32:47.:32:51.

the backhand error and game point. Rafa Nadal going into the body, the

:32:52.:33:34.

right hip of Novak Djokovic, twice in that game. Direction of serve

:33:35.:33:39.

very important against great returners. That is a great place to

:33:40.:33:44.

lock your opponent up, on the right hip.

:33:45.:34:08.

It has been suggested that the only weakness of Djokovic as a shot is

:34:09.:34:14.

the overhead and he does actually miss one or two. But you cannot

:34:15.:34:18.

really expose that can you? 28 Gerald Novak Djokovic, world

:34:19.:37:27.

number one, a position he has held every single week of this year. He

:37:28.:37:31.

has been number one since the middle of last year, July. This is the year

:37:32.:37:39.

he has put together. It's not bad! Only lost on six occasions, ten

:37:40.:37:46.

titles. The biggest tournaments, the Masters 1000 series, there are nine

:37:47.:37:50.

of them and he has won six of them, the first man to ever do that. It is

:37:51.:37:55.

the Grand Slams which define a man's career. At Paris he would be denied

:37:56.:38:07.

having absolutely dismissed Rafa Nadal, his opponent today in the

:38:08.:38:13.

quarterfinal, may get all the way through to the final. Novak Djokovic

:38:14.:38:20.

trying to complete the set found Wawrinka in absolutely outstanding

:38:21.:38:27.

form. Can you still be considered one of the greatest players of all

:38:28.:38:32.

time without winning all four of the majors? I think it depends on the

:38:33.:38:36.

numbers. I think if the French Open was not on his CV at the end of his

:38:37.:38:42.

career I think it would be a major disappointment for him. I don't see

:38:43.:38:46.

it happening. I relate to bleed he will win the French Open and

:38:47.:38:51.

complete the set. It's going to be very interesting, at ten Grand Slams

:38:52.:38:56.

now, how many more he is going to win with Roger Federer out in front

:38:57.:39:05.

on 17. Gave a wonderful speech at the end of the final of the French

:39:06.:39:09.

Open, the disappointment writ large. It was all over his body language,

:39:10.:39:16.

his face. But was still gracious enough to be as generous and

:39:17.:39:20.

articulate as he always is. Rafa Nadal has won the French Open just

:39:21.:39:25.

the nine times! He has only lost twice at that tournament. Madness.

:39:26.:40:09.

It is a challenge for Nadal to decide where to serve to Djokovic.

:40:10.:40:18.

It is a challenge for Nadal to Does not truly have the pace

:40:19.:40:18.

It is a challenge for Nadal to serve through him so has to make

:40:19.:40:18.

It is a challenge for Nadal to sure he mixes it up.

:40:19.:40:49.

The body serve is always effective when you get it absolutely spot on,

:40:50.:40:55.

but if you don't quite hit your target the serve goes straight into

:40:56.:40:57.

the hitting zone for the opponent. Last game coming up with the old

:40:58.:42:23.

tennis balls. If they are going to be slower little fluffy at all, it's

:42:24.:42:28.

going to be in this game. 26 minutes of play so far.

:42:29.:42:44.

Mr Nadal challenges the call. Looks like a forward base. It leaves a

:42:45.:42:51.

mark on the court but they do come and clean the court every night.

:42:52.:43:40.

Djokovic has just got a little bit more weight behind his first serve,

:43:41.:43:47.

Rafa does not take the return quite so early. It means Djokovic can open

:43:48.:43:49.

up the angles. Game, Djokovic. New balls please. So

:43:50.:44:09.

we have had a look at Novak Djokovic's year, the celebration of

:44:10.:44:13.

achievement that has been. For Rafa Nadal, for the first time in his

:44:14.:44:18.

career, a real loss of confidence. For once. And it has come as such a

:44:19.:44:25.

surprise. But there are signs he is coming back. He went down as low as

:44:26.:44:29.

number ten in the world this summer which did not look right at all. He

:44:30.:44:41.

is back up to number five. The French Open quarterfinal loss was a

:44:42.:44:45.

body blow, it confirmed what we were all seeing, that Djokovic was

:44:46.:44:52.

playing a different level of tennis. It was an unbelievable performance

:44:53.:44:55.

from Dustin Brown at Wimbledon who has instantly just finished playing

:44:56.:44:58.

a challenger this week in Italy. Maybe semifinal. An inspired

:44:59.:45:04.

performance again from Fabio Fognini, from two sets up, rapper

:45:05.:45:10.

losing 6-4 in the first. That is his Grand Slam year, with three titles

:45:11.:45:16.

won along the way. Not what he's used to, but back up to number five.

:45:17.:45:28.

On the same diet as the heroic Novak Djokovic! Gluten-free. I tell you,

:45:29.:45:33.

it made a huge difference to Novak Djokovic who was often fatigued on

:45:34.:45:39.

court and would run out of steam. Came out and declared his

:45:40.:45:42.

gluten-free diet is something which had aided him.

:45:43.:46:14.

Multipurpose arena of course. The big scoreboard right above the court

:46:15.:46:21.

is significantly lower than the roof.

:46:22.:47:47.

There is a bit of momentum for Nadal going into this Djokovic service

:47:48.:47:56.

game. Nadal will take out a new frame. First time returning. We will

:47:57.:48:06.

just check his identification. That seems all right. And I think we know

:48:07.:48:15.

who he is as well! This is a big game coming up.

:48:16.:48:40.

First sign of anything other total efficiency.

:48:41.:49:33.

Came at the back of the ball too much, did not get through it.

:49:34.:49:40.

Especially after being given the gift of the double fault. Djokovic

:49:41.:49:45.

serving for the set, you don't want to give any donations of your own.

:49:46.:50:27.

That is it, one break of serve in Nadal's first service game, Djokovic

:50:28.:50:36.

capitalising to take it. In this magnificent rivalry it is 61 sets

:50:37.:50:42.

each overtime. I wonder if Nadal has got anything to fight Djokovic

:50:43.:50:48.

today. STUDIO: Yes, it is all Djokovic at the moment. He said he

:50:49.:50:51.

would have took up his game against Rafa and has certainly done that so

:50:52.:50:57.

far. We asked the question on social media, which rivalry have you

:50:58.:51:08.

enjoyed the most. One saying the volume is -- the Williams sisters.

:51:09.:51:20.

Nowadays it is Wawrinka versus Djokovic, they have had some

:51:21.:51:24.

classics as well. How about this one, the best rivalry is Andy Murray

:51:25.:51:35.

and himself. Interesting. COMMENTATOR: That is a pretty good

:51:36.:51:40.

one, and I hope he is resting well ahead of what is coming up this week

:51:41.:51:47.

in Belgium. Able to just chill out a little bit, get away from this.

:51:48.:51:51.

People don't realise quite the strain of being a competitor in

:51:52.:51:54.

these events, especially Andy at home. Pressure, but a bit of rest.

:51:55.:52:05.

Rivalries, Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, I liked that. It had its

:52:06.:52:13.

moments. There was always a bit of tension out there. I think any time

:52:14.:52:17.

you play someone from the same country there will be added spice. I

:52:18.:52:23.

think the fact that we were the only two British players at the time

:52:24.:52:28.

added to it. The media revving it up Aluko but. -- it up a little bit.

:52:29.:52:38.

Just trying to figure out if there is anything Nadal can do here, if

:52:39.:52:42.

you were coaching, what would you say to him? The first set was all

:52:43.:52:49.

about the first 16 points. Djokovic won 12 of them, up 3-0, the early

:52:50.:52:55.

break of set. The next six games were very uneventful. Own a set,

:52:56.:53:00.

Rafa serving first, he needs to try to keep his nose in front and place

:53:01.:53:04.

strong service games, build a bit of pressure the scoreboard. But you

:53:05.:53:09.

know from Djokovic's side of the court he will be ready to up the

:53:10.:53:14.

ante, raise the intensity, to try and get that early break. To finish

:53:15.:53:26.

this match in straight sets. Full house this Saturday afternoon,

:53:27.:53:29.

semifinal of the season-ending championships. They would like

:53:30.:53:34.

nothing more than to get behind Rafa Nadal and see a close match. We will

:53:35.:53:35.

see. And nothing slice on the backhand in

:53:36.:54:03.

the middle of the court and Djokovic will keep that up ten times out of

:54:04.:54:09.

ten. Djokovic played the backhand down the line that clipped the top

:54:10.:54:13.

of the net and it looked like it could have been pretty close to

:54:14.:54:16.

being out. Got the defence of reply from Nadal. -- the defensive reply.

:54:17.:54:44.

Already Nadal in a bit of a hole on serve in the first game of the

:54:45.:54:50.

second set. Mr Djokovic challenges the call. The

:54:51.:55:20.

ball was called out in the line judge I think correctly the cold. --

:55:21.:55:26.

the call. Does that mean it doesn't need to go to a challenge? Then

:55:27.:55:33.

Nadal would challenge it. So he changed his call. Rafa will have a

:55:34.:55:41.

quick look at it. Everybody is challenging everything at this

:55:42.:55:46.

moment. Now Novak will say did that affect the play of Rafa. Whatever,

:55:47.:55:50.

play it again. We are all confused. He has missed that one, that is a

:55:51.:56:19.

big mess. -- miss. Plenty of love from them and the

:56:20.:56:52.

crowd for Rafa. Good use of the body serve. Got the

:56:53.:58:01.

defensive reply. Really needs to find a way of holding onto this

:58:02.:58:03.

first service game. The support from the crowd, it is

:58:04.:59:03.

almost as if Djokovic is a victim of his own success. They are desperate

:59:04.:59:06.

for a competitive match up and really trying to get behind Nadal.

:59:07.:59:18.

It is interesting, Djokovic, he is so good he actually makes the

:59:19.:59:41.

difficult look so easy that it is easy to think he is a bit dull at

:59:42.:59:48.

times. It's always too good length, it is always safe. The one on the

:59:49.:59:52.

right-hand side, it is almost a mistake. Today, great length,

:59:53.:00:10.

nothing short at all. If was a Canon there he would be knocking

:00:11.:00:19.

The rest of his numbers were impressive.

:00:20.:00:46.

The chairman of Wimbledon and his wife.

:00:47.:01:32.

From Nadal's point of view, it is one of these matches where he always

:01:33.:01:38.

feels like he is serving. Djokovic has dropped half a dozen points on

:01:39.:01:42.

serve and Nadal is having to work hard to hold on to his own deal.

:01:43.:02:00.

Djokovic has lost just seven points on serve. There's two ways to put

:02:01.:02:11.

pressure on your opponent's serve. One, being a great returner, so you

:02:12.:02:15.

are always in the service games, but also put pressure on by holding

:02:16.:02:17.

serve easily. You talk about the advantage of the

:02:18.:03:43.

two-hander, he was able to use the left hand to get on top of the ball,

:03:44.:03:45.

but still such impressive execution. Marian Vajda has been with Djokovic

:03:46.:04:15.

for a lot longer than Boris Becker. Clearly, they work well together.

:04:16.:04:21.

Vajda was ranked in the 30s, good player, won a couple of titles.

:04:22.:04:48.

Another good hold. Nadal creating a little bit of momentum here.

:04:49.:05:01.

End-of-season finale on the ATP Tour. A thing that goes around 31

:05:02.:05:07.

countries, 61 ATP events, it comes down to this eight-man event. We

:05:08.:05:12.

have had several multiple winners. Nobody has won it more than Federer

:05:13.:05:17.

times six! No-one has won it four straight. Lendl got close, Ilie

:05:18.:05:24.

Nastase was close as well from '71 to '73. Novak Djokovic has a chance

:05:25.:05:31.

to make it four straight and be the first person to achieve that. Ilie

:05:32.:05:35.

Nastase was incredible to watch in this event. Boris Becker as well, he

:05:36.:05:43.

ended Lendl's hopes at Madison Square Gardens in '88.

:05:44.:05:53.

Becker won it 7-6 in the fifth. How many strokes was it? 72nd was the

:05:54.:06:05.

net cord, as far as I remember. They weren't hitting it hard enough(!)

:06:06.:06:07.

Yeah. Good to see Louis Smith here.

:06:08.:06:16.

Strictly winner. Was that two years ago? I forget. That's on again

:06:17.:06:26.

tonight. That's pretty competitive. But not quite like when these two go

:06:27.:06:31.

head-to-head. We haven't seen the high - this is just still simmering

:06:32.:06:35.

and whether or not Nadal can stay with Djokovic here, I don't know. We

:06:36.:06:36.

will see. That's exactly the right play,

:06:37.:07:42.

thumbs up from Carlos Costa, a former top ten player himself,

:07:43.:07:45.

represents the commercial side of the Nadal empire.

:07:46.:07:59.

Same again, Tim. This one, 1 minute and 19 seconds.

:08:00.:08:45.

Novak's wife. Their son, just over a year-old.

:08:46.:09:03.

UMPIRE: Mr Djokovic is challenging the call, right centre service line,

:09:04.:09:12.

the ball is called in. Looked good from where we are sitting.

:09:13.:09:19.

That return was brilliant. So difficult to dig a forehand out of

:09:20.:09:49.

the right hip area to get the feet into position, to maintain the

:09:50.:09:52.

racquet head through the ball in that situation. Very impressive.

:09:53.:09:55.

Didn't look spectacular, did it? Yes, you could say a mistake from

:09:56.:11:41.

Nadal, but he is hitting, three, four, five unbelievable shots.

:11:42.:11:45.

Djokovic is there. Watch Djokovic go to the right here.

:11:46.:11:52.

This one, beneath the height of the net. Here is a moment coming up. Two

:11:53.:11:56.

break-points, Djokovic. Nadal using that forehand body serve

:11:57.:12:21.

a lot. Got the mistake. Needs another one

:12:22.:12:26.

here. Really, what is Nadal to do?

:12:27.:13:23.

Djokovic was just increasing the speed and the power throughout that

:13:24.:13:29.

rally. It felt like he could pull the trigger at any moment. This

:13:30.:13:33.

player, who has so dominated this year, seems to be on the way here.

:13:34.:13:37.

He has lost a match this week, to Roger Federer, first indoor loss in

:13:38.:13:46.

years, an unbelievable streak that was, and 23-match unbeaten streak.

:13:47.:13:50.

Roger Federer has done it this week. I don't know what to think about

:13:51.:13:54.

Nadal now. You could say it is a mistake at the end, but it is just -

:13:55.:14:00.

he is subject to pressure from the other end, isn't he? He certainly

:14:01.:14:03.

was. You felt that Djokovic's mindset, once he got into that point

:14:04.:14:08.

on the break-point, there was no way he was going to make an unforced

:14:09.:14:12.

error. He was slowly becoming more and more aggressive and eventually

:14:13.:14:22.

forced the mistake from Nadal. Fantastic staging here at the O2,

:14:23.:14:25.

really is an awesome sound system, as you can imagine as well. All

:14:26.:14:38.

sorts of events are going on here, the Stereophonics are here, Mumford

:14:39.:14:42.

Sons. The easiest way to get here by Tube, if you have tickets for

:14:43.:14:52.

tomorrow, the final at 6.00pm. Forget Strictly. I will be watching

:14:53.:14:59.

Federer against Wawrinka tonight. Want to give us an early prediction

:15:00.:15:04.

on that? Federer, I would think. He's had a day's rest. But I

:15:05.:15:10.

wouldn't be more than 51-49 on that one. He has a great head-to-head.

:15:11.:15:15.

You? I hate to have to agree with you, but I think Federer will win 6

:15:16.:15:21.

and 4. That's very precise of you. That is where he is able to flatten

:15:22.:16:50.

out the forehand a bit more, gets the penetration through the court,

:16:51.:16:55.

to hit the clean winner. He is playing one of the quickest men that

:16:56.:16:57.

has ever played this game. And he wasn't within six feet of it!

:16:58.:17:01.

No. How do you get through the back of

:17:02.:17:37.

the ball instead of up the back on a penetrating, low, well-hit ball from

:17:38.:17:42.

Djokovic? When you've got such an extreme grip like Nadal.

:17:43.:17:59.

It seems like the lines are extra thick on Nadal's side of the court.

:18:00.:18:03.

Djokovic hits them so consistently. Year-end number one, he will be once

:18:04.:18:31.

again. That will be four of the last five years. Number two in 2013, that

:18:32.:18:36.

was the year of Nadal's return, do you remember that seven-month

:18:37.:18:39.

absence, the game missed him so much? Question marks that he

:18:40.:18:44.

answered so well in 2013. It appears in the last three or four months

:18:45.:18:50.

that he is back. Or at least trying to regain his very best form. That

:18:51.:18:52.

is good news. So, still no break-points for Rafael

:18:53.:21:56.

Nadal. A set and a breakdown. Djokovic has got to hold a couple

:21:57.:21:59.

more times to make his way through to the final of the World Tour

:22:00.:22:03.

Finals once again and looking back, Tim, at the matches that they have

:22:04.:22:07.

played, Djokovic has won seven of the last eight meetings. The final

:22:08.:22:12.

of the French last year was the only time that Nadal has won in that

:22:13.:22:18.

time. This year, it's been 6-3, 6-3 in Monte Carlo on the clay, 7-5,

:22:19.:22:31.

6-3, 6-1 in the French Open quarterfinals and 6-2, 6-2 to

:22:32.:22:34.

Djokovic in Beijing. The rivalry is one way. It is. When you try and

:22:35.:22:39.

come up with a game plan of how Nadal can get back into this match,

:22:40.:22:44.

you really are having to rely on Djokovic's levels dropping because

:22:45.:22:49.

he's just been clinical in all areas, he's only dropped eight

:22:50.:22:52.

points on his serve in the whole match. More winners than unforced

:22:53.:22:57.

errors. Winning five out of six points when he comes to the net. So,

:22:58.:23:02.

his first serve percentage is at 68%, so Nadal is not getting too

:23:03.:23:06.

many looks at second serves. The reason the lights stay down is

:23:07.:23:09.

because for those stations taking this around the world, they slot in

:23:10.:23:14.

commercial breaks at an allotted amount of time that Tay can rely on.

:23:15.:23:18.

The players are asked to wait until the lights come back up because that

:23:19.:23:23.

means that coming out of those breaks, broadcasters are ready. We

:23:24.:23:31.

don't have to deal with that. Djokovic comfortable at the moment.

:23:32.:24:19.

That is sporting from Rafael Nadal because he would have seen the

:24:20.:26:10.

passing shot go down the line here. Then the long arm of the law came

:26:11.:26:15.

out and that is a magnificent volley.

:26:16.:26:18.

Just enough spin to take it away from the Spanish forehand side.

:26:19.:26:53.

A couple of weak second serves from Djokovic, only 81mph in the middle

:26:54.:26:59.

of the box. At this stage of the match, this is a half chance that

:27:00.:27:01.

Nadal has to grasp. You just have to salute the work

:27:02.:27:34.

that Djokovic has done to get to this point, and the simplicity of

:27:35.:27:36.

his game, it is beautiful to watch. To add pace on a ball like that, to

:27:37.:27:49.

hit it cleanly past Nadal at 30-30, that is quality.

:27:50.:28:26.

Too low for that. He had 30-30, but Djokovic winning the next two points

:28:27.:28:33.

to disappoint Nadal fans once again. Not too many big matches in Nadal's

:28:34.:28:48.

career where he picks up no break-points.

:28:49.:28:53.

UMPIRE: Please take a seat, thank you.

:28:54.:28:58.

Serving to stay in the semifinal. Federer versus Wawrinka is the

:28:59.:29:04.

second semifinal, the final tomorrow night at 6.00pm.

:29:05.:29:51.

They met in high school all those years ago, 18 and 17 at the time. A

:29:52.:29:57.

young family now. Nadal will be disappointed with this

:29:58.:31:38.

shot, not a great drop shot from Djokovic. Did not do enough with the

:31:39.:31:42.

approach. The second time he has got the ball

:31:43.:33:19.

over his head between the legs, simple enough to put away, but no

:33:20.:33:25.

such thing as an easy game for Nadal, he has absolutely been given

:33:26.:33:29.

the runaround. I have seen him lobbed from that position. The

:33:30.:33:56.

winning line is looming and he has been perfection so far. Never know

:33:57.:34:03.

what is going to happen in the next game and the crowd are going to try

:34:04.:34:08.

to help Nadal. It is not anti-Djokovic in any way, why would

:34:09.:34:09.

it be? Might get a little tight, he was

:34:10.:34:37.

dirty all on his previous game, Djokovic. Tidying up a match against

:34:38.:34:42.

the previous champion is never that easy.

:34:43.:34:57.

Advantage, Djokovic. Please turn off the flashlight.

:34:58.:35:28.

That is a pure performance. Perfect hitting, clinical in all regards, he

:35:29.:36:00.

has absolutely dominated Rafa Nadal. Fabulous contribution from the

:36:01.:36:04.

Spaniard to this event again, but this is Djokovic's day. He can sit

:36:05.:36:17.

back now and enjoyed Federer Wawrinka. Appreciation for Rafa

:36:18.:36:24.

Nadal indeed. So good to see him winning matches. Three of them here,

:36:25.:36:30.

a semifinal? He will take that. And be ready at the start of 2016.

:36:31.:36:40.

Wonderful to see him back. But at the moment, this year, not enough to

:36:41.:36:47.

deal with Novak Djokovic. But the same could be said for everybody.

:36:48.:36:53.

Absolutely, it was a brilliant performance from Djokovic and this

:36:54.:36:56.

match never really hit the heights because Djokovic did not allow it

:36:57.:37:01.

to. Dominant from start to finish, stamped his authority on those first

:37:02.:37:06.

three games. Rafa Nadal never even had a break point. Full

:37:07.:37:14.

straight sets. One hour and 19 minutes. I semifinal that we built

:37:15.:37:24.

up, it is a great rivalry which now stands at 23 matches all. Djokovic

:37:25.:37:32.

with one more set for what it is worth. Cat quite see that. Will have

:37:33.:37:43.

to get my glasses on. Perhaps a Private message, that one. Djokovic

:37:44.:37:52.

into the final again, just as last year. We were denied the match with

:37:53.:37:58.

Roger Federer because he played such an amazing semifinal, a gruelling

:37:59.:38:01.

one against the match with Roger Federer because he played such an

:38:02.:38:04.

amazing semifinal, a gruelling one against barbering -- against

:38:05.:38:08.

Wawrinka. Djokovic will wish for a long match

:38:09.:38:40.

tonight, not much recovery time if it does turn into a late night for

:38:41.:38:45.

Roger Federer or Stan Wawrinka. Federer last year could not move at

:38:46.:38:51.

all, could not take to the court so Andy Murray step in and played an

:38:52.:39:00.

exhibition. Djokovic through, brilliant performance. Well played

:39:01.:39:09.

Novak, into your fifth final, how close to perfection was that

:39:10.:39:15.

performance today? It was a great performance no doubt about that,

:39:16.:39:19.

from the very beginning managed to execute the game plan. I was trying

:39:20.:39:24.

to be aggressive, trying to dictate the play, obviously that is easier

:39:25.:39:27.

said than done when you are playing someone who is as great a defender

:39:28.:39:31.

as Rafa and he was playing some great tennis this week. I pulled out

:39:32.:39:36.

my best game when it was needed most and I am glad to get to the final.

:39:37.:39:43.

You have met each other 46 times, you have won four in a row, how have

:39:44.:39:49.

your matches involved tactically? We have not changed radically our

:39:50.:39:54.

games. Ever since the match that we played against each other many years

:39:55.:40:00.

ago, the first match, up to today, our games are based on the baseline,

:40:01.:40:05.

he plays with more spin. I try to flight it out from the back of the

:40:06.:40:10.

court and I think we both adjusted to the surfaces depending on where

:40:11.:40:15.

we play against each other. It is more or less the same as it was back

:40:16.:40:21.

then. 46 matches after that it feels amazing when we play each other. One

:40:22.:40:26.

of the biggest challenges I can have in sport. You got through the

:40:27.:40:32.

challenge lightning time. Have you had a chance to go and buy a

:40:33.:40:40.

present? I hope I will get him a present on the court here tomorrow.

:40:41.:40:47.

Speaking of tomorrow, the second semifinal tonight, are you going to

:40:48.:40:50.

watch it and do you have a preference who you would like to

:40:51.:40:55.

play? I prefer playing against the Swiss player! CHUCKLES

:40:56.:41:02.

LAUGHTER They have played a great match last

:41:03.:41:05.

year in the semifinals, I watched that one, when it went the

:41:06.:41:12.

distance. They won Davis Cup together, they come from the same

:41:13.:41:15.

country and know each other very well so it will be nice to watch and

:41:16.:41:20.

hopefully I can just perform as well as I did today. We look forward to

:41:21.:41:26.

seeing you in the final. Well done again, Novak Djokovic! STUDIO: He is

:41:27.:41:32.

back to his best and he is in the final, comfortable victory today

:41:33.:41:36.

against his great rival Rafa Nadal. Nothing Nadal could do today.

:41:37.:41:42.

Djokovic is brewed to play either Federer or Wawrinka which you can

:41:43.:41:48.

hear tonight at 8pm and we will be back tomorrow on BBC Two at 6pm. We

:41:49.:41:56.

no Djokovic is true, will it be Federer or Wawrinka? The final

:41:57.:42:02.

tomorrow and next week and another big event looms which means so much

:42:03.:42:07.

to all the players. In 2004 Rafa won it for the first time. It was so

:42:08.:42:14.

special. Novak won it in 2010. It gives you a lot of incentive and

:42:15.:42:22.

motivation. Last year Roger won it. Definitely one of the moments of my

:42:23.:42:28.

life as a tennis player. And so did stand. For me it was a dream, to

:42:29.:42:33.

play for your country it is so special. This year can Andy and

:42:34.:42:41.

company follow suit? That's next week and we cannot wait. The first

:42:42.:42:49.

time Britain have been in the final since 1978. There is going to be a

:42:50.:42:56.

special presentation to a young teen we have been talking about, he has a

:42:57.:43:01.

big future ahead of him. But talking about the future as far as Novak

:43:02.:43:05.

Djokovic is concerned, looking pretty bright after a bit of a dip

:43:06.:43:09.

in form early in the week. Yes he put on a real clinic. We were hoping

:43:10.:43:15.

Rafa could have a bit more influence, impact in the baseline

:43:16.:43:20.

exchanges. I was looking at the stats and Rafa was serving 70% of

:43:21.:43:24.

first serves. You are not giving Djokovic too many looks but when

:43:25.:43:29.

they got into the baseline exchanges Novak was talking about how he was

:43:30.:43:34.

able to flatten the shots. Able to penetrate the court and put Rafa on

:43:35.:43:38.

the defensive. When he got opportunities to go down the line he

:43:39.:43:43.

rarely missed. Another amazing performance to add to an extensive

:43:44.:43:49.

collection. Rafa said I've not had a great year so I'm not having a

:43:50.:43:53.

holiday, straight into the gym, and he knows now what he's up against.

:43:54.:43:58.

Yes he has played more are matches since the US Open than he ever has

:43:59.:44:05.

before. We will go courtside to be introduced to a man who will surely

:44:06.:44:08.

be playing in this championship for many years to come.

:44:09.:44:17.

Today's presentation is for the star of tomorrow presented by emirates.

:44:18.:44:28.

Please welcome the ATP executive chairman and president who will

:44:29.:44:34.

present the trophy, joined by an emirates representative. Please give

:44:35.:44:36.

them a round of applause. Now ladies and gentlemen, the winner

:44:37.:44:52.

of the star of tomorrow, from Germany, Alexander Zverev. APPLAUSE

:44:53.:46:09.

Many congratulations, you must be very proud standing here, the

:46:10.:46:34.

youngest player inside the top 100, can you give us your thoughts

:46:35.:46:39.

looking back on a great 2015? It's been a great year for me and it's

:46:40.:46:44.

very exciting for the future. A lot of young guys coming up and I think

:46:45.:46:49.

we are a very great group and a very stable generation who is looking

:46:50.:46:52.

forward to playing here in the future. I am just happy the way it

:46:53.:46:58.

goes right now and where I am in my career. I was going to say, probably

:46:59.:47:03.

your your first time here, have you got a big extended to make the top

:47:04.:47:09.

eight at the end of the year? Of course, seeing this stadium and

:47:10.:47:12.

atmosphere is amazing. It's a great goal for me to be here one day,

:47:13.:47:17.

playing in the top eight, but there is a long way still ahead of me. I

:47:18.:47:22.

think if doing what I am doing I might be here sometime soon. Finally

:47:23.:47:31.

your ambitions for next year? I just try to be the best I can. The is no

:47:32.:47:36.

goals yet. I just try to be the best player in the future that I can. I

:47:37.:47:42.

think there is a great generation coming up and it's an exciting

:47:43.:47:46.

future for all of us. We look forward to seeing you more in the

:47:47.:47:51.

future, enjoy the moment. Congratulations again. Ladies and

:47:52.:47:55.

gentlemen star of the future of tomorrow, Alexander Zverev! STUDIO:

:47:56.:48:02.

What an amazing young man he is, before we start eulogising about

:48:03.:48:07.

Novak Djokovic, this man has a huge future. Yes, and those in charge of

:48:08.:48:13.

his game, when you think Kei Nishikori is the youngest by three

:48:14.:48:17.

years here and he is 26 next month, take your time and make the right

:48:18.:48:22.

decisions. Build physically and properly and be prepared. It could

:48:23.:48:26.

be eight or ten years before you have too produced your best. But

:48:27.:48:33.

he's a good one. So is Nick Krygios if you can get his head screwed on

:48:34.:48:38.

right. It's a decent generation. If he has been watching today he will

:48:39.:48:44.

think he has a lot of work to do it to number one, Novak Djokovic head

:48:45.:48:49.

and shoulders above everyone else. Yes, Djokovic has been through the

:48:50.:48:53.

process that Alexander Zverev is talking about, is to see the

:48:54.:48:57.

challenges ahead of him. When you see Djokovic like this, changing

:48:58.:49:02.

direction, he can maintain the aggression and keep the consistency.

:49:03.:49:05.

Moving Nadal are around and still has the use of the drop shot. Don't

:49:06.:49:10.

you find it amazing that Djokovic who had an told riches from a young

:49:11.:49:14.

age gets to three or four in the world and wants to push on and set

:49:15.:49:19.

new heights. A lot of the young guys get to a certain point, they have

:49:20.:49:23.

made their money, they have got the car is under house in Monaco, and

:49:24.:49:27.

they get satisfied. Djokovic's hunger for it seems undiminished.

:49:28.:49:34.

This is how Rafa had to play against Djokovic to actually win any points.

:49:35.:49:40.

In the opening of the match that is when Djokovic set out his stall, he

:49:41.:49:45.

dominated the first three games and gave Nadal so little chance to get

:49:46.:49:53.

involved. You can see the athletic ability. Very difficult to put the

:49:54.:50:01.

ball away against Djokovic. Relentless pressure. He does not

:50:02.:50:05.

miss the ball. Physically, how do you get through him? Federer can go

:50:06.:50:12.

through him and we have seen it this week. And Wawrinka can outhit him on

:50:13.:50:19.

occasion but at the moment rapper doesn't quite have the equipment as

:50:20.:50:23.

we have seen from recent results. Djokovic can just put his feet up

:50:24.:50:27.

and watch the other semifinal. Rapper has work to do but is

:50:28.:50:34.

improving. -- Rafa has. He is moving in the right direction, you feel he

:50:35.:50:37.

has more belief and self-confidence back in the way he's hitting the

:50:38.:50:41.

ball, but he has come back against the best player in the world. He

:50:42.:50:47.

knows the bar and will be time to chase it down. It will be

:50:48.:50:53.

interesting tonight, a testy semifinal last year between Feder

:50:54.:51:00.

and Wawrinka. Before we go there is other sport to look forward to on

:51:01.:51:01.

the BBC. We are going to end the programme

:51:02.:51:19.

with the sad news we heard earlier, the legend Peter Dimmick has died.

:51:20.:51:30.

He was the first man to present BBC sports personality of the year and

:51:31.:51:34.

also the first presenter of grandstand and many other iconic

:51:35.:51:38.

programmes. Also behind the cameras he masterminded the coverage of the

:51:39.:51:43.

Queen 's coronation in 1953 and many other landmark events which were TV

:51:44.:51:49.

firsts. Many people have issued statements including BBC

:51:50.:51:51.

director-general pony hole who said he is a much admired figure who will

:51:52.:51:53.

be deeply missed. Good evening and welcome. That seems

:51:54.:52:15.

to have tied up Wimbledon and Lords. My congratulations again. Then we

:52:16.:52:27.

come to the fire display. This evening we are going to use the

:52:28.:52:34.

Univision like to take you to Davos in Switzerland were part of the

:52:35.:52:37.

European Skating Championships. I could have gone on and on and on on

:52:38.:52:43.

what is arguably sports greatest night of the year here in London. We

:52:44.:52:48.

offer a very sincere thank you to all the backroom boys without whose

:52:49.:52:50.

help we could not have brought our programmes to you during 1957. Thank

:52:51.:52:54.

you for joining us.
