Well, I'm joined once again

by the fully motivated

Jason Bell and Osi Umenyiora.

We'll draw a line over

the opening, and we'll move on.

Right, we're going to show you,

to start with, a celebration

from the 49ers' locker room.

Because, when they beat the Giants,

that's their first win

of the whole season.

I mean, that is great

to see, isn't it?

That's amazing.

I've been in locker rooms like

that's where you get that one win.

And you feel like that.

Come on, man?

They beat the Giants.

That's their first win.

They're celebrating like they just

won the championship.

The championship?

I mean, come on.

That's setting the bar

low right there, that's

setting a real low bar.

If you celebrate after

you win your first game,

I mean, how are you going

to celebrate when you

actually do win something?

But that's a relief,

that's what it is.

Yeah?

I can understand that.

I like to see that.

Yeah, I'm all about it, man.

When I was in Houston,

we beat Dallas first game

of the year, it was like that.

Let me guess, you only

celebrated like that

after you won the Super Bowl?

That...

But I think I'm a little bit more

upset because they're celebrating

like that after beating the Giants.

We've got to move on.

We're going to review one of the big

games from last weekend now.

The NFC's Dallas Cowboys against

the NFC South Atlanta Falcons.

Both teams have been fighting

for form a little bit.

Both in danger of losing sight

of their division leaders.

And the big news going into this

game was that the Dallas star

running back Zeke Elliott would now

start his six-game suspension

after months of court order delays.

So, he wasn't available

for the Cowboys.

And, whilst he wasn't missed,

there were other problems

for the Cowboys as well.

Other injuries that

affected them in this game.

First of all, the left tackle

time on Smith, right?

You realise how important

he was in this game.

And also, no one is

talking about Sean Lee.

When Sean Lee got hurt on defense,

that defense really fell apart.

And they don't win games

when he's not in the line-up.

Dallas's defense, because the O line

was weakened, spent a lot

of time on the field.

And they were weakened, as Jason

says, by a couple of injuries, too.

So, they were just shattered

going into the third fourth quarter

against this Atlanta offence.

Yes, they were.

Atlanta Falcons just

continued to pound them,

and they wore them down.

That's their formula.

The formula is run the ball,

you know, control the time

and possession, and keep that

defense well rested.

And that didn't happen

and they were exposed because of it.

As you can see, going

into the second quarter,

the Cowboys actually had the seven

and three Lee.

Prescott found Bryce Butler who made

that falling catch for 30 yards.

Clayborn sacks Prescott again.

And then it was from around this

time that the Falcons started to put

long drives together,

to tire out the Cowboys.

Coleman there going in for

a one-yard touchdown

to make it 10-7 to Atlanta.

Yeah, and that's what's happens.

When you're on the field a bunch,

you get tired, you get exposed.

And also I was watching the game,

you saw with Sean Lee out of it,

it seemed like they just

weren't communicating well.

And that middle linebacker position,

that's an important role to kind

of get guys lined up and everybody

to be on the same page.

Especially in the defense

that they run over there.

He's crucial to the

success of their team.

Him going off, he's the one

who ties everything,

both the run and the pass together.

Him being off the football field had

a really bad effect on them.

Some people might only

see our Saturday show

as their experience of the NFL.

They'll go, hang on a minute,

you know, it is a 40-second play.

And then you get to rest for a bit.

And then there's another.

But the interesting thing that

you've shown is the mental

concentration that's needed

when you are on the defense,

too, to look at eyes,

to try and spot a decoy, etc.

So you're really talking

mental fatigue rather

than physical fatigue.

Absolutely.

And remember, all you have to do

is make one mistake,

and that can be a touchdown.

So, you could be focused in on nine

plays out of a ten-play drive,

and then lose your cool.

And there you go,

you've got a touchdown.

We saw Justin Hardy's touchdown.

Now, that made it 17-7 to Atlanta.

Matt Ryan here finding

Taylor Gabriel for a 34-yard catch

and run towards the end

of the third quarter.

And then into the fourth

quarter, Atlanta's offence

continued to motor.

Austin Hooper took them down

to the one-yard line there.

And we will see Ryan find Hooper

again for another one-yard

touchdown, to make it 24-7 Atlanta.

And the thing with Atlanta,

and we've talked about it all season

as well, is they do have

so many weapons.

And yet they haven't

really clicked that often.

Yes, they have not.

Yes, they have not.

I think when you're talking

about the Atlanta Falcons,

then people want to talk discuss

the Super Bowl from last year.

But I think, more importantly

than that, they're just not

finding their rhythm.

There are not in sync

with each other yet because,

as the season wears on,

a good team with that

amount of talent, I think

there are going to figure it out

more than anybody else.

Remember, last year, we were talking

about they started slow.

They clicked and kind of started

working at this point

of the season last year.

So, maybe that's just

the kind of team they are.

We'll see if they turn the corner.

Clayborn sacked Prescott

for the sixth time there,

to seal the game for Atlanta

who moved to five and four.

I said we spoke a lot about it

on Tuesday night, but it is a heck

of an achievement, isn't it?

Six sacks in a game?

Incredible.

Everything has to line up perfectly

for you in order to accomplish that.

Last time anybody gets

to the quarterback,

but they're not sacked,

because maybe the DBs didn't

cover, the quarterback

threw the ball quick.

In order for you to get at their six

times, the quarterback

has to hold the ball,

the DBs have to cover

to give you enough time

to get to the quarterback.

Everything has to line up,

it's a complete team effort.

For Dallas, some of their

fixtures coming up.

Philadelphia, the Chargers

who are a little bit hit

and miss, obviously.

Washington, the Giants

which are divisional games,

so that ratchets up the atmosphere

and pressure a little bit, no matter

how badly some teams are doing.

And then they've got

the Raiders as well.

And all of that without Elliott.

Dallas Cowboys are in big trouble.

Judging by how they play,

they are in big trouble.

That is a murderous row of games,

a murderous row of teams they have

to go there and face.

Teams that are also fighting

for their playoff lives.

So, every game is

going to be a battle.

If they don't bring their A-game,

they might lose all of those games.

And, by the time they get

to Zeke back, it's Seahawks

and the Eagles again.

They've still got those two

divisional games against the Eagles.

If you're going to put a positive

spin on it, you would go,

that still means we can catch them.

Right.

But damage is done by then.

If they go through that rwo,

and they don't win any games,

I mean, nothing is going

to help them.

OK.

That's a very bleak

way to end that chat.

Here's a round-up of

Right now, we're going to get

into a couple of stories

surrounding last week's games.

We're going to start

with a really sad one, actually,

and that is Marquis Goodwin

of the 49ers who scored this

touchdown against the Giants

on Sunday, only hours

after he and his partner

lost their unborn son due

to pregnancy complications.

Our hearts and thoughts go out

to him and his partner.

Now, you may have noticed

in the review, the absence

of the Jacksonville Jaguars

against the LA Chargers,

and this was for very good reason.

Because there's no way to simply sum

up the frankly odd end to this game.

But we are going to try over

the next couple of minutes.

The Jags were down by three

in the fourth quarter,

and there were two minutes to go.

Blake Bortels pass was tipped, and

it was intercepted by Trey Boston.

Come on, Blake.

OK.

So, that's what the Jags

fans thought of that.

Next play, Chargers'

rookie Austin Ekeler

fumbles the ball, right?

Now, Tashaun Gibson recovers it,

and he runs this in for what is then

thought to be the go-ahead score.

This is a touchdown,

it would take Jacksonville

up to 20 if they kick

the extra point, 21-17.

However, they then look

at the replays here

and they apparently...

I still don't think

it is conclusive, show

he was touchdown by contact

when he recovered the ball.

So...

By whom?

Exactly.

By his own guy?

Who knows.

That meant The Jags had to start

on the 36-yard line.

Four plays later, it's third and 25.

And Blake Bortels throws another

pick to Trey Boston.

Oh, man, that was ugly.

Yes.

That was bad.

Stick with me on this.

LA ran the clock down

as much as they could.

They gave the ball

back to Jacksonville

with a minute remaining.

Bortels found Jayden Mickens and it

put The Jags in field goal range.

Josh Lambeau kicks the game time

in field goal, and that

sends it into overtime.

Like it.

The Chargers have the ball.

Philip Rivers then does that.

Ooh, that's nice.

He throws the interception

to AJ Boyer.

He's nice.

Is he your friend?

No.

I like him though.

AJ Boyer's heading to the end

zone for the touchdown,

until he gets tackled by Philip

Rivers.

Stood over him.

Philip does that all the time.

Right.

OK.

It hit left The Jags

with that field goal.

It was partially blocked.

But it just squeaked over.

And just to round everything

up, Lambeau used to be

the Chargers's kicker.

They cut him and it takes

The Jags to six and three.

It was a crazy end.

Is it serendipity?

When something comes...

Yes.

I've been here for a while.

I don't think that's

just an English word.

It was a big win for The Jags.

Oh, huge.

Oh, huge.

When you're a young team,

those tight games like that,

highly contested games,

it kind of gives you an attitude

that changes who you are as a team.

But what that highlights

as well is what a lot

of people have said all year,

which is The Jags could

go a very long way.

But there is a doubt

over Blake Bortles.

Can they go a long way

with Blake Bortles.

They can go a long way with that

defense and that running game,

even though Fournette didn't

play his best game the last

game that they played.

But with Blake Bortles,

some of the things you see him do,

you can't make mistakes like that,

especially in those

crucial situations.

He's shown a propensity to do this

over and over again.

Can't do it in the postseason

because you won't win,

teams are too good.

The main thing I liked is he was not

playing well but they picked it

up on special teams.

You've got to win two

of the phases and they're always

going to play good defense.

So, the team knows

they got to pick it up.

If you were in the Jacksonville

defense and were back in the locker

room after that game,

what would you say to Blake Bortles?

Nothing.

We won the game.

I'm not going to say

anything to him.

But in a situation like that,

even if we would have lost,

I wouldn't have said

anything to him.

Who would say something to him?

The coach has to say

something to him.

Because we all make mistakes.

We all have bad games.

He seems to do it on a much,

a more regular basis.

But it's not something I'd be like,

hey, Blake, you can't.

No.

You don't what nobody

doing that to you.

Exactly.

They could win the Super Bowl

with that defense.

But they can't it with Blake

Bortles, is that what you're saying?

I...

They showed a lot of holes,

even offensively, to scare me.

Defensively, yes.

That defense could win the Super

Bowl but the offense couldn't?

That defense can't win a Super Bowl

with that offense, no.

OK.

in many different ways

there and you didn't fall for it.

Thursday night game.

22-16 against the Arizona Cardinals.

So, they are staying

in touch with the Rams.

Cleveland lost again,

Detroit beating them 38-24.

The Jets were beaten

by Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 15-10.

There was a big win for Tennessee

as well against Cincinnati, 24-20.

We'll show you a little bit more

of that in just a moment.

As far as the standings

are concerned, Patriots

and the Steelers were seven and two,

records in the East and the North.

Titans and The Jags,

looks like a head-to-head battle

between the two of them

in the South.

And the Chiefs, despite

being on a bye week,

still maintain a healthy lead

in the West.

The Eagles were also on a bye week,

8-1, best record in the NFL

at the moment in the East.

Vikings have a two-game

lead over the Lions

and the Packers in the North.

Fascinating battle in

the South between the Saints

and the Panthers and the Falcons.

It's a two-way fight in the West

between the Rams and the Seahawks.

But notice that important 1 in the W

column for the 49ers.

So, we're going to bring

you highlights of Thursday's game

between Tennessee and Pittsburg

brother in just a moment.

Before we do, we are going to look

back at Tennessee's win

against Cincinnati,

and how their quarterback

Marcus Mariota orchestrated

their game-winning drive.

Because they basically went from one

end of the field to the other,

to snuff out the Bengals

in this game.

They are three points down.

They have originally started

this drive with five

minutes left on the clock

on their own 27-yard line.

So, now, they've still

got three time-outs.

So, now, they've still

got three time-outs.

Just shy of three minutes left,

and they're are on the 50-yard line.

So, throughout this drive,

what are they trying to do?

First of all, they need to score,

that's the most important part.

Also they need to take a little

bit time off the clock.

Five minutes left, they have

plenty of time to score.

Even here, two minutes and 58

seconds, that is an eternity

for them to be able to get the ball

down the field.

What you want to do there is go down

the middle because it

keeps your man in play.

If you go out of bounds,

the clock stops.

If you stay in the middle,

the clock keeps going.

Because they have time-outs,

they are in control of that.

They've been running the ball

all game, so be linebackers suck up,

and that's where you throw the ball

back behind them.

The more you run it, the better.

We've moved it on to

that 30-yard line.

Still two minutes 22 on the clock,

and they've still got

their three time-outs.

Yeah.

That's still a bunch of time.

They still have the opportunity

to run the football down the field.

If this was a minute left,

there's no way they would run

the football right there.

But they still have plenty of time.

Also, not only do they

have their time-outs,

the two minute warning is also

an additional time-out.

So they actually

have four time-outs.

They can run the ball even more.

From a defensive point of view,

when you know the offense are trying

to run down the clock,

what can you do to try and delay it?

Very little.

You've just got to stop them.

The problem is, that defense has

been on the field all game.

They were on the field

for 40 minutes.

They're already worn out.

OK.

Now, we are at the 3rd & 5,

around the 25-yard line.

The thing is, they are within field

goal range here, so they know

if it was to all go wrong,

they'd get the three and they'd be

level with the Bengals.

It would still give them,

1.55 is an eternity, is it,

in the fourth quarter?

On top of that, the field goal

only gets them to a tie.

It doesn't make them win the game.

They have to go for the win here.

The have to go for the score.

You know I like this.

This is a great play.

Explain why.

It's because they needed

to get five yards.

The cornerback is sitting at five,

thinking they are going to throw

a short ball, and they got him

with a double move.

Caused a pass interference,

a new set of downs, now they can

go and try to score.

Even though they didn't

catch that ball, there

was a foul, penalty called.

That gives them

the next set of downs.

Exactly.

So, now, they've still got

a couple of time-outs.

We join them at 2nd & 2,

and the ball is on around

the 12 and 13-yard line.

This is where it helps

if your quarterback can run as well.

Absolutely, it gives you an option.

Because he knows, I can't

turn the ball over by

forcing a bad throw.

So, what does he do?

He takes off because he knows,

I've got to protect this ball

and at least get the field goal.

And stay in bounds?

Um, I think he was trying

to get to the end zone.

The guy just so happened

to bring him down.

Which leaves them with this.

And the game-winning touchdown.

Great call.

Get it to your guy

who can move the pile.

A physical guy who can

break tackles.

DiMarco Murray playing a good

game, getting the ball,

quick throw, great.

Just hold onto it and get

it over the goal line.

It was a great play.

Obviously, in a third-down

situation, if they did score in 4th

down, they have to kick

the field goal.

So they needed to score,

and DiMarco Murray was able to get

the ball across the line.

That's a great drive, isn't it?

We couldn't show everything

because we don't have time.

But what you can see with that,

I think, as a fan and maybe

as a new fan, it's a whole load

of chess moves.

It isn't simply getting

the ball from one end

of the field to the other

in the quickest possible time.

Time management.

This is where head coaches come

into play, how they are managing

the clock, the play calling.

It's all about winning.

How much is the quarterback aware

of the play clock there?

Or has he got so much

going on that he has

to rely on his head coach?

In that particular situation, it is

crucial he knows the play clock.

The play clock for him

is going to be right

there in the corner.

He had to be sitting over there,

looking, trying to run down

as much time as possible,

if they are trying to preserve

a lead, or if they are trying

to score and score multiple

touchdowns, then he has

to score more and more.

So, he's very aware

of what is going on.

They are clever lads, aren't they?

A little bit.

Yeah, of course.

It's not just about running

up and hitting people,

like some in the game!

Oh!

They are the clever ones.

He set us up!

Yes, I did.

To the Titans at the Steelers.

This was the Thursday night game.

In it, we had two teams

who were topping their divisions,

two teams who were enjoying

a four-game winning streak.

So, the big question was,

would Super Mariota be able

to match the super offense

of Big Ben Bell and Brown?

COMMENTATOR: The flag is down,

free play, takes the shot downfield.

Antonio Brown goes out and gets it.

Hard count works.

Touchdown, Steelers.

Antonio now on the outside,

just a straight take-off.

Ben knows he's got a free play,

so he's going to look off

the safety, got the safety to move,

and basically just

throw a jump ball.

Where is a blitz coming from?

There it is.

Onto his right, Mariota throws too

high, it is intercepted.

Through it right into

the hands of Mike Hilton.

And the Nickel man out

of bounds at the 25.

Big early mistake from

Mariota and the Titans.

Really, it was just

a complete overthrow.

There was no real

pressure to speak of.

The ball just got away from him.

3rd & goal, here is

Mariota, scrambling,

gets away, did he get in?

Touchdown.

Marcus Mariota.

That's exactly what they say

about Mariota, he doesn't understand

when he gets to the biggest moments,

why should anybody have the ball

in their hands but him?

More often than not,

he loves to run in these situations

Nine-point game.

Mariota, 1st down shot down

the middle of the field.

Open, no safety there,

Matthews at the 20.

Cuts back at the 15,

and Matthews goes.

Opening play touchdown

for the Titans.

75 yards, and it is a three-point

game just like that.

This is called quarters

coverage here.

You end up with this

receiver and this receiver

which locks up that safety,

which means the post

is strictly one on one,

on the outside, and just too much.

1st & goal for the five.

Antonio Brown, touchdown!

And the Steelers respond

to the Tennessee touchdown.

This is 3rd & goal to start

the fourth quarter.

Roethlisberger.

Fake.

Going to throw it.

And it's a touchdown

for Jesse James.

You have to really sell this,

to get these guys to buy it.

They totally did.

And you don't get many easier

touchdown passes than that.

Here tonight, Steelers have spent

a lot of time inside the red zone.

From the ten, Roethlisberger.

Throwing end zone.

Antonio Brown, spectacular catch!

Touchdown.

Wow.

And I do believe I saw my

first ever helmet catch.

Yes.

Is this a helmet catch, Mike?

Please tell me that

is a helmet catch.

Pittsburgh.

Going to get to eight and two.

So, that win for Pittsburgh moves

them to eight and two.

That makes them the top seed in

the AFC, until the Patriots display.

Obviously, because the Patriots

go into their next

fixture at seven and two.

Here are the remaining

fixtures for this week.

Let's just pick a few of them out

because there are some really

tasty games coming up.

Let us start, and lots of them

in the NFC as well where there

are some real powerhouses.

Rams at Minnesota Vikings.

Oh, game of the week!

Top offense, top defense.

You know who I'm going for.

The Vikings?

Of course.

Apart from the fact you're

friends with half of them!

And you know Mike Zimmer as well

who was your coach at Dallas.

Why else would you go for them?

Because their offense now has

the ability to score points.

Case Keenum is scoring points.

We knew the defense was going

to basically push them forward

but now they are scoring points

offensively with all these injuries?

Got to give them credit.

You know what?

I want to see how the Rams play?

Because they've beaten up on some

cupcakes, realistically.

Outside of the Dallas Cowboys,

and I think they played another team

earlier who they beat.

Outside of that, they've beaten

up on some cupcakes.

This is a legitimate team

that they are playing,

with the Minnesota Vikings.

I want to see if this

team is for real or not.

Actually, for a lot of the teams

in the NFC, the big,

the surprise big hitters,

they've got some fixtures coming up

where you go, right, now,

we'll see what you're made of.

at home to the Washington Redskins.

How do you see this one?

New Orleans.

At home, if you've ever played

New Orleans at home,

you know it's almost impossible

to go in there and beat them.

This is a team that's hot, on fire,

has everything clicking.

Offense, defense, special teams.

Why is it so hard to be

them in their own dome?

It's a mystery, man.

We used to call that place

the Bermuda Triangle.

Like, we would literally,

when I was with the Giants, we would

go there and just disappear.

Nobody would know

what happened to us!

We would lose about 40,

50 points, nobody knows.

They've got some New Orleans voodoo

thing going on over there.

An incredible place

to go there and play.

Really difficult to do go and win.

Oh, man.

I like that.

I like the idea of Drew Brees

sticking pins into a doll.

THEY LAUGH.

I mean, look.

Now that you don't have to have

Drew Brees win every game,

they are so dynamic

with their running game.

It's hard to beat those guys.

So, you'll go Saints as well?

Both of you go Saints.

Bermuda Triangle!

Another absolutely fascinating game.

Not only an NFC matchup,

but a divisional matchup as well.

The Philadelphia Eagles

and their amazing record,

going to Dallas to take

on the Cowboys.

Huge test for the Eagles, yes?

It would have been if Zeke

Elliott was playing.

And if they had their left tackle.

If the Cowboys don't

have their left tackle,

Tyrone Smith in this game

against Philly, they are going

to give up 15 sacks to whoever

the right defensive end is,

to give up 15 sacks to whoever

the right defensive end is,

because those defensive lineman

for Philly are boiling.

So, this is a big game

for the Philadelphia Eagles.

I think they're going to be able

to beat the Cowboys.

Yeah, once again, Sean Lee

is not in that line-up.

That defense can get exposed.

Obviously, they can't play well

without him in the line-up.

You are both going Eagles?

Yeah.

OK.

Let's take a look at some

of the highs and lows this week.

An emotional afternoon

for Teddy Bridgwater,

tears of joy at being active on game

day for the first time in two years.

In this same game...

Look at that.

Maurice Harris, who they brought

in off the practise squad...

Anybody can do it.

I'm starting to believe you, man.

That man couldn't do it.

Oh!

Landing on a side line bystander.

The Vikings celebrate

one of their touchdowns

by playing leapfrog.

That's a horrible celebration.

Now, this is a great celebration.

This was last week.

AJ Green's scuffle.

And the Steelers recreated it.
