Episode 15 The NFL Show

T'was the night before the night before Christmas, or

the holidays, when all through the house, crib, not a

creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, with

hopes that the playoffs soon would be theirs.

Champions are not made in a gym. Champions have passion. It must be

showtime. With only two weeks till

the playoffs, there On tonight's festive feast

of football, we will be bringing you highlights of last night's

game between the New York Giants and and the

Philidelphia Eagles. A win for the Giants would guarantee

them a playoff spot. And speaking of playoffs

we'll be making a list. We're gonna find out who's, well,

making the playoffs. Tomorrow night Santa may be

coming, but tonight it's Huge Kansas City Chiefs

fan Sam Quek will be here to convince Osi her team

isn't boring, and to defending with our own

lord-a-leaping Jason. And it's to the Kansas City

Chiefs we go to first. The Chiefs have been criticised

on this show a little for their But that style, whether

you like it or not, This team are nobody's

Super Bowl favourites, but fast becoming

everybody's outsiders. The Tennessee Titans have had

the luxury of being in a division that has

no consistant team. This means that as long as you can

get your act together by And that's what the

Titans have done. Hill breaking free. Tyree shill. 30,

ten. Touchdown! -- hill. Mariota loving this one to a wide-open

receiver. The ball is lost into the end zone. Covered by the Chiefs.

They will run it back. Daniel Sorensen. Remember, a penalty flag

is down. Sorensen finally knocked out close

to midfield. Tennessee's ball for stop --.

1st down. Touchdown! A tough task here. Henry still on the field.

Henry with the ball. To the goal line. Did he get there? Now a signal

from the far side. It is a touchdown. As his knee hits the

ground, the ball is right here. When he lands, he is short of the goal

line. He extended to touch the paint. I'm not sure what the term is

but it is a touchdown for Tennessee. 1st down Tennessee in their own 35.

Mariota with time. Intercepted. Ron Parker. Intercepted in the end zone.

Alex Smit not pleased. Derrick Henry to the end zone for the touchdown.

It looks like the Tennessee Titans are going to go for the win with a

two point conversion attempt. Mariota. He is brought down back of

the 50-yard line. Third and fourth. That passes complete. Inside the 40.

You have to get that ball. Nine seconds, eight... The spike happens

with five seconds on the clock. This would be a 53 yard in these

conditions. Tennessee looking for win number four. Ryan Succop.

Time-Out was called. Kansas City called before the kick.

32nd time-out. -- it will be a 30 second time-out.

Ryan Succop. That one was good! The Titans win it. Ryan Succop from 53

yards. The Chiefs called time out. His first attempt came up short.

of her career starts here. She is here to defend her beloved

Kansas City Chiefs against the most She is a massive Kansas City Chiefs

first came when I went to Wembley, first live game. I said among

friends and family. They started doing the job. Red team, same as

What a team to support. Lots of people don't know which team to

support. Let's hope you have ignored everything he has said. Why should

they support Kansas City Chiefs? It is so easy to support a team like

the Patriots, glory hunters. Are the very glamorous New York team like

the Giants. Giving it all the one-handed show. Great player, by

the way. The Chiefs, for me, they are in the middle of nowhere. In --

an unusual team to support. They started the season poor. Look where

they are now. They are a team for fans who like to keep it real? Yeah,

for real fans. Fans to stay with them through the good and bad times.

They are a team for fans who enjoy the ambience of being in the

stadium. They enjoy being in the stadium having a great time with

each other. Give them a lot of credit. You will have an amazing

time in their stadium in the stands, not watching the product on the

football field. Let's talk a little bit about the product on the

football field. How big a defeat is this for them, given that you have

given them a fair bit of praise this season? This could be a defeat that

could cost them? It could. It showed weaknesses they have. Derrick

Johnson being out really hard them. Tennessee attacked the middle of the

defense. That is where they are weak. Could it cost your team the

season, given they have got Denver and San Diego as the remaining

games? Picking up what Jason said about them going down the middle,

that is just the difference in quarterbacks from me. Alex Smit, a

few minutes left on the clock, it was his decision. To have Mariota go

down the middle, everybody was expecting him to run it off field,

stop the clock. That was the difference. To go from ten points

ahead in the last quarter, to losing the game, was the biggest

disappointment. Alex Smit is a talented football player. A talented

quarterback. This has always been the problem. He can lead your team

to a certain point but can never get you overly edge, can never get you

passed that point. The decision made in that situation is vintage Alex

Smit. Something he has done throughout his career. That is why I

find it difficult to believe in them. This is a team game, man.

Listen, Alex Smit has done really well in doing what Andy Reid needs

to do with that Offense. It's hard to be successful at quarterback in

NFL and he has. You can't -- you can't put that on. I'm not going to

let you do that. I've seen this man do the same thing everywhere he has

been. We talk about the clutch gene. It is something he does not have.

For me, the Chiefs have to work on Offense. Defense is brilliant. To go

on and lose the game... Hill coming through is a very exciting player.

Because each is so versatile, that will give Alex Smit more options. I

have spotted a slight flaw in putting Sam between them. You are a

bit like an umpire in tennis! Thank you for providing a voice of reason.

You are going to take a look at footwork. And how important it is in

both of your sports. Because we both have footwork. And

we don't! We want to talk about footwork. We're going to use hill as

an example. This is what speed does for a team.

As you see him he gets the ball from a running position, what's that.

Number 31. I want to get your insight on how you would have

defended that. What I'm thinking is, and this is a better angle, I would

have angled and I would have come to his low hip. I would have thought he

could cut back into me. I am the last defender. What are you

thinking? I'm similar. As a hockey player, I'm thinking, how do you get

someone fast? For me, I want to get at them just as they receive the

ball, stop them outsource. If I'm not there, I need to keep on the

outside. In hockey, the goal is in the middle. With NFL, you have to

use the sideline to your advantage, make it easy for the safety to read

where you are going to take him, so they can give you a helping hand.

Where is your aim? I'm running. If you cut back, that is where you are

in danger. We are saying the same thing. Safety

should be reading that and coming across and making a tackle. We see

the game the same way. Defenders don't know anything. Osi

It is going to be hard. In the NFL, it is hard every week, every snap.

You earned it, congratulations, man. This whole year has been about

hanging together. But we are just getting warmed up. How do we feel,

Let's start with the Jaguars and the Texans, because it was a big win for

Houston, in that it keeps them as divisional winners at the moment.

Indianapolis might fancy their chances of overtaking them, but now

the Texans have this whole quarterback situation.

It had to happen. He was playing miserable. He has really good

receivers. But they could not get on the ball. They had to make a change.

It is a huge call, with two weeks of the regular season to go, to drop

your quarterback, who used signed in the offseason for $72 million over

four years. That is a massive call. 72 million dollars over four years

is what they paid him to go out and perform like that. It is a huge call

but is says to the franchise, to everybody on the football field,

winning is more important than the money they paid this man, because he

wasn't getting the job done. Granted, they were still in the mix

for their division, but that was because of what the defense was

doing, not because of the quarterback. They were winning in

spite of their quarterback and they had to make that decision. As a

player, you have to do that, as an organisation, to show it is about

the team. If we know he does not need to be on the field, is hurting

us, you have to make the change. Did you see the reaction of the crowd? I

don't know if he ever comes back from something like that because the

crowd went crazy when they benched him. How do you come back from

something like that? Who would you go with in that division? Tennessee.

This week, I watched the most dynamic running game I've seen in a

long time. The blocking schemes up front, they can run the ball. That's

what you need. I have two agree. I thought Indianapolis had a chance,

but they are too inconsistent. Tennessee are inconsistent, too, but

they can run the ball. The AFC North, a final question on that. We

have been talking about this fixture for about a month, but it still

looks like it boils down to Baltimore and Pittsburgh's weekend.

We are so excited to see this game. They are both coming into their own.

It is a toss-up. I don't know who to pick. If you are a football fan and

you love the NFL, this is the game to watch. It will be a bloodbath.

These teams do not like each other, playing basically in a playoff game

to see who will go to the playoffs. It will be outstanding. So if there

is one game to watch over the festive period, Baltimore and

Pittsburgh's. You had better lock in and see two teams that know each

other and will get after each other. Let's have a look at the NFC and

some significant results. Detroit's defeat, although they

still lead the NFC North, gives Green Bay a chance, particularly as

the two teams still have to play. Let's do Detroit's and the Giants.

The win for the Giants opens things up for them. They are now the best

team in the wild card positions. But Green Bay are sniffing down

Detroit's neck. You do not want to give Green Bay life at this time of

year. See the weather this week was a mess, and they play well in that.

They are showing life. They have the best quarterback in that division.

They are the ones you definitely do not want in the playoffs. If you are

Detroit, you have to be careful about letting them catch up. Either

Detroit have given them a sniff, or Green Bay are breathing down their

necks. They are not sniffing down their necks, which would be

revolting, to be honest! I am fed up of talking about the Giants with

you, so I will move onto something else. But the Cowboys, this week,

Prescott was back to his best. He was back, and he let everybody know

that all that noise you heard was make up noise. Where was the noise

from? Out of my left ear. He let all the people on planet Earth know,

except for me. I like Prescott, but I am of the belief that Tony Roma is

a better quarterback. That is my opinion. If you put the volume of

work, he has more work, but right now, who is the best quarterback for

that team? Prescott. Last night, the NFC had

its first game of Week 15. The New York Giants faced

the Philidelphia Eagles. A win for the Giants would guarantee

them their first playoff berth since their Super Bowl

winning team of 2011. That must have been

some night out, Osi? What happens at a Super Bowl winning

party stays at a Super Bowl winning party.

They have won only two games in the last 11 weeks.

With only two weeks remaining in their season

there isn't much point in keeping anything in the tank.

Darren Sproles, opening drive, Philadelphia touchdown. Sterling

Shepard back in the slot. All the way for an Eagle touchdown. Brown

has only attempted four field goals. And he gets the Giants on the board.

Rookie quarterback at 3rd 8. Keeps the player live. He fires it

downfield, and it's late. Interception.

Gould. Touchdown! Just like that. They

convert the 3rd down, get the big penalty, and 40 yards. Manning sends

a vertically. Touchdown, Giants. Big-time Drive, much needed for the

Giants. I think you want to go to Jason Peters' side. He is stopped. A

great surge by the Giants. Manning throws, and it is intercepted.

He ducked under, takes off and will slide for the 1st down. He lost the

ball on the slide. No challenge on the play. Feet first, which means he

is down by the time he gets in so far, that spot. The kick is right

down broad Street. Four field goals attempted and he made them all.

Broken up. 13 seconds left. Manning just putting it up for grabs.

Intercepted. Coming underneath and taking it away, Terence Brooks. And

the Eagles will not let the Giants clinch a playoff berth on their

field. That surprise loss for the Giants

confirms the Dallas Cowboys as NFC East divisional

winners and also top seeds in the NFC heading

into the playoffs. For the Giants, their confirmation

into the playoffs as a wild card will be determined on the results

over the weekend, or possibly their final regular

season game against the Let's have a look at some

of those important fixtures Denver could be out of the whole

thing, couldn't they? Yes, amazing, after being in the Super Bowl last

year. You would not think they would be in that position but offensively,

they have too many holes in their game. To be honest, I can't wait to

watch this game. People talk about the playoffs starting in a couple of

weeks but they start right now, especially for the Denver Broncos,

Indianapolis Colts, teams that have to win to keep playing. Raiders

already in the playoffs, of course, and yet seedings are up for grabs so

they cannot relax before the playoffs. But everything is on the

line for the Colts. Everything is on the line. Can they go to Oakland and

win? I don't think so, because they would have to outscore Oakland.

There will be balls flying everywhere. I don't think it can

happen. I see what you are saying but desperate times call for

desperate measures. You will see the Colts come out firing on all

cylinders, playing their hearts out to get to the playoffs. Balls are

going to be flying everywhere, so you might want to watch that! In the

NFC, some selected fixtures. The good fun game, surely, will be

Tampa Bay at New Orleans Saints. It will be fun. You want to see James

Swenson bounce back. He needs to figure it out if they are going to

be a viable threat. When you see what they did against the Cardinals

last week, incredible, so it will be tough for the Buccaneers to go into

New Orleans and play football. Washington Redskins go to Chicago

Bears, which you would say the Redskins should win, but the Bears

pushed the Packers all the way, and the Redskins have hit a bad run of

form at the wrong time. They started the season badly, then fantastic,

now dipping again. That is the problem with that team. You need to

be able to play through that kind of stuff. What will happen with that

offense, and the cold, it will be nasty. They cannot move the ball in

the same way. I am excited about the young team, the Chicago Bears. They

play hard every game. It shows the character of the head coach, the way

they come in week in, week out and play hard. They are a young football

team. Berkeley, even though he is not an elite quarterback, has done

some good things for the team. They need a couple more weapons and they

will be OK. Finally, some of the big plays of the week. Only one place to

start, as usual. One-handed, as usual. Squeak! It's not that hard to

do. It's not hard, man. It still looks good to mere mortals. More

good hands from Brandon Tate. Look at him, looking downfield with it,

too. I will tell you what is hard. You keep going. What is not hard?

That is difficult, that one! That was Charles Clay. This isn't

difficult but it is quick. I didn't know he could run like that. Look at

the gallop. He kicks into high gear right there. This is rivalry at its

best. That's hard! Corey Peters. He lost a shoe. Only one shoe. Is that

hard? That's not hard. And Elliott going in for the touchdown for the

Cowboys and then doing his bit for the Salvation Army. That is a legit

donation. $21,000 he donated for that.
