Good evening. After a pause for the

winter break the Women's Super

League is back and with the new year

comes some new faces. Coming up,

could Joe steered the Gunners to

victory over Chelsea? Nadia Nadeem

was aiming to help Manchester City

preserve their 100% record when they

travelled to Reading. And at

Doncaster, Neil Redfearn becomes the

first former Football League manager

to take charge in the WSL.

tonight. Welcome to Ellen White and

Sue Smith. We begin with Arsenal. A

bit of a changing of the guard at

the club with a certain veteran

player retiring at the end of this

season and the announcement of a new

manager, Joe Montemero. We went to

meet the man from Melbourne. Arsenal

are the most decorated team in the

country but haven't won titles in

five years, does that at any

pressure?

I think I bring on more

pressure myself banned the job. As

coaches we signed up for the

pressure and for the chances at the

highest level, to bring success that

the club deserve. It is part of

Arsenal's DNA.

spot. Difficult to make the call,

The Blues have reacted well to the

equalising goal for Arsenal. Carter

here and it was nodded behind for a

positive signs today.

neutral, a thrilling London derby.

Nadia Nadim. She was just a child

when her father, a general in the

Afghan army, was killed by the

Taliban. With her mother and sister

she escaped the country via Pakistan

to Europe using forged passports to

travel to Italy. They hope to go in

trucks to London but they were taken

to rural Denmark and a refugee

centre.

We played something.

Football, it was a little before we

came to Denmark but that is when I

started playing and singing

football. There was a club kids used

to play from 4pm until late at

night, teams practising. We used to

sit around and watch that is how got

into it. It gave us the opportunity

to be kits and forget everything

around us. The only time I relaxes

when I am playing, because I do not

think about anything else.

She was

one of the standout players at the

European Championships, helping her

country to progress to the final in

a football mad country famous for

canals of its own.

As a player you

want to win, especially those games

and it is something that will stick

with me. We knew that we have the

group of players and ambitions. This

time, we got it almost right.

Because we did not win it, but I

think we kind of showed what women's

football is about in Denmark. We did

not have the respect or status among

fans in Denmark.

She moved to the US

to play for sky-blue FC and later

the Fawns. Now, having turned 30,

she returned to Europe to join

Manchester City Women.

I want to

score goals and win trophies and

work hard to achieve those goals.

How much did you know about your

team-mates?

Not that much. I know

where they play will stop the

national team. But I do not know

anyone personally.

You have a taste

of the Manchester weather?

And they

say it will last a couple of months

yet and will not get better, that is

scaring me.

She returns with one

major goal, to win the women's

Champions League and if they are

successful they will be the first

British team to win the competition

in its format.

It is a torn at where

the best teams in Europe compete. I

want to be in the team that wins it.

It is very simple. I want to do

something, to talk about, people

saying she did do great stuff.

This

impressive individual speaks nine

languages and her ambition after

football is to work as a plastic

surgeon, helping those who have

suffered life changing injuries.

I

would love to be a plastic surgeon,

reconstruction surgery is

interesting and that is the goal.

Is

that to help people who have been

through terrible situations?

help. I want to be in the position

where I can make a difference.

the Reading back line. She goes on.

We are concentrating on

performance. We have won 15 but we

the next game. First half we were

patchy but in the second half

The hardest thing is

open, we gave them goals, which is

disappointing.

of more weeks to learn how to play

with the rest of the team but a good

start.

perfect delivery. What a centre

forward would want. Between the

centre-half and fullback, difficult

to mark. And a cool, calm header. An

inspiration on the field and off it.

Another great signing for Manchester

They bring in players that may

be people outside the women's game

do not know but they come and they

know them after because that was a

fantastic performance today.

The

theme of the show today is about

defending. Manchester City have

prided themselves on keeping clean

sheets. But they have been leaking

goals.

They had a consistent back

five last season. At times here they

have not. Abby McManus, looking at

the ball, not the player. She did

not know where Remy Allen was. She

tried to take a touch. Allen is

proactive and straightaway she is on

to that. It happens there were

occasions, a poor touch from Walsh.

You cannot take away from the

Chaplen strike, it was fantastic.

Karen Bardsley is not in this game

but any keeper would not say that.

Defensive frailties at times but

they dominated Indian.

We spoke

about the new signing of Manchester

City but Reading made a new signing

with Natasha Harding.

She loves to

run with the ball. Her attacking

ability and goal-scoring ability,

and exciting signing and she got a

few minutes so she will be pleased

with that. They are building an

exciting squad with the likes of Jo

Potter.

It shows that Reading, even

though you have the likes of

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City,

ready want to mount -- Reading want

to mount a challenge.

They were

physical and strong and they still

have that but they have added

quality. They now have... They can

mount a challenge to compete with

the top teams.

Three more games to

catch up on. Yeovil Town arrived at

Liverpool searching for their first

point and goal this season. We round

Liverpool played host to Yeovil Town

the goal they found was their own. A

diving Annie Heatherson giving them

the lead. They allowed Liverpool to

run riot. A simple tap in from

Bethany England doubled the score.

November and they showed no signs of

rust. England again. Running past a

tiring defence. Liverpool in no mood

to be kind and it took minutes for

them to take the goal tally up to

four. On loan from Chelsea, England

showed the traits that attracted the

Merseyside club. The midfielder gets

her first hat-trick and Liverpool's

fifth. A win for Liverpool would see

them within touching distance of the

league leaders and Chelsea. Yeovil

Town have the task of preventing

Liverpool from surpassing their WSL

record. But England had another

idea. An exhibition of football

against a poor defending Yeovil, and

a final goal from Laura Coombs, it

ended 8-0. Everton made the trip to

Bristol hoping to continue the good

form of their last outing and made

the worst possible start as the home

side went ahead with this finish

from youngster Lauren Hemp. This

appointment and it shows how far the

women's game has come, an ex-pro

footballer, managing in the men's

game in the Championship, wants to

come and manage the team. The girls

say his training sessions are

excellent, different, innovative.

They are learning a lot. It shows

somebody like him wants to join

Doncaster and hopefully help them

win the league. Not that I am being

biased.

What is going wrong for your

team?

A little bit frustrated. We

are not scoring enough. Creating

chances will stop not putting it in

the net. We have to keep working

hard and those performances will

come. But at the moment, it is the

lack of goals.

Really struggling. Doing

everything well off the field. They

have to do better on the field. You

cannot concede eight like that and

it was the timing. They concede and

concede straight after. You have to

be difficult to break down and

concentrate. The Liverpool girls

said it was an easy game and easily

break them down. That is something

Yeovil Town need to be better.

Do

you think they lack an experienced

player?

They need better players,

more experience, somebody who will

get hold of them after a goal has

gone in and say we need to focus and

reorganise, reshape and get back

into the game because to keep

conceding like that is not good for

the game.

Amy Turner, your former

team-mate, 15 months on the

sidelined with injuries and you have

been out with injuries.

Good to see

her back? I am pleased how

professional, her determination to

get back on the field. I am happy to

see she is back playing football.
