Doubles finals we have seen for years. What a spectacular way to

:00:00.:00:00.

finish Ladies' Singles final day, which has been eventful in its own

:00:00.:00:08.

way. Welcome to the highlights show. Inevitably truncated but well worth

:00:09.:00:12.

staying. Brilliant bit of entertainment. How fantastic to see

:00:13.:00:16.

such natural and unbridled uncontrolled joy. Fantastic. To the

:00:17.:00:21.

Ladies' Singles final, many hours ago. If history is written, this is

:00:22.:00:27.

how Marion Bartoli recalls her day of days last year.

:00:28.:00:32.

When I was a little girl, it was my dream to one day play here at

:00:33.:00:37.

Wimbledon. When you enter those gates and you

:00:38.:00:46.

are stepping on the court to play, it is overwhelming. Just the feel of

:00:47.:00:54.

your feet when you walk down the grass and the Way you Move and the

:00:55.:00:59.

ball bounces and you hit a shot... It is not physical, it is about the

:01:00.:01:01.

rhythm, the timing, the pure tennis. When I walked out for my first final

:01:02.:01:12.

in 2007 I felt so excited I felt like I was going to explode.

:01:13.:01:20.

For the fourth time, Venus Williams reigned supreme at Wimbledon. Seeing

:01:21.:01:27.

someone lifting the winner 's trophy and you are standing there, it is

:01:28.:01:31.

the worst feeling in the world. It is the worst place, to be second.

:01:32.:01:35.

It took me six years to be there again. It was a long time.

:01:36.:01:48.

When I close my eyes, I can picture myself, about to serve four match

:01:49.:01:58.

points. -- serve four match point. The rush of blood that goes from

:01:59.:02:02.

your heart to your legs, knowing it is almost there, it is like you are

:02:03.:02:07.

ten seconds away, maybe, an emotion away.

:02:08.:02:12.

My heartbeat started to go so fast. I wanted to win, so badly.

:02:13.:02:18.

It is my home, the place I treasure the most. It will stay in my heart

:02:19.:02:38.

forever. I am sure they recall the grand slam

:02:39.:02:49.

days with similar affection and never to be forgotten. They will

:02:50.:02:52.

talk about what happened today on Centre Court. A lunchtime shower met

:02:53.:02:57.

somebody somewhere in the bowels had their finger poised on the roof.

:02:58.:03:00.

Because they might have had to close it but they didn't. At 2pm this

:03:01.:03:04.

afternoon, we were able to get underway. Eugenie Bouchard and

:03:05.:03:13.

Patrick voter for a potentially defining day in their lives.

:03:14.:04:00.

It is incredible, the strength she has to stay so low through the shot

:04:01.:04:06.

She gets down so well but she stays with it, and that is what makes her,

:04:07.:04:13.

one of the reasons that makes her so comfortable and good on grass.

:04:14.:04:24.

I tell you one thing, they aren't battling nerve, it would appear.

:04:25.:04:32.

Crushed that return As you said Kvitova, her first service game, she

:04:33.:04:34.

is ready to go early. It is unstoppable when she hits the

:04:35.:05:35.

ball like that. Absolutely magnificent ball

:05:36.:05:38.

striking. Simple as that Bouchard is going to have to try and do

:05:39.:05:42.

something to get it out of Kvitova's strike zone but it is not easy, the

:05:43.:05:44.

ball is coming so hard and heavy. You need to slice that more, it had

:05:45.:06:40.

a kick that will lowed Kvitova time to get out there. It wasn't really

:06:41.:06:43.

going away from her. Stunner. Gorgeous hitting from

:06:44.:06:50.

Kvitova. What a winner that was and Kvitova

:06:51.:07:00.

was seeing it like a football, like a preverbial football. Here she is

:07:01.:07:02.

5-2, serving for the first set. That is one of the few points

:07:03.:08:23.

Bouchard has been able to get on top of the rally first.

:08:24.:08:32.

That is where brouch is most comfortable, playing offensive

:08:33.:08:35.

tennis. -- Bouchard. She hasn't been able to do that so far.

:08:36.:08:59.

One of the first shot's Kvitova's guided top Bouchard, she has a

:09:00.:09:08.

chance to hang in this set. Found the line, gives her a chance of

:09:09.:09:12.

having a lifeline in this opening set.

:09:13.:09:32.

Just the fifth time that Kvitova has been broke none the tournament, and

:09:33.:09:38.

incredibly only faced 17 break points so far. Very low number.

:09:39.:09:44.

Bouchard good enough to take the opportunity when it presented

:09:45.:09:46.

itself. Looks like she going up the line, in

:09:47.:10:35.

the last split second she uses that right arm and wrist, to pull it back

:10:36.:10:39.

crosscourt, tell to tell where that is going. -- tough to tell where

:10:40.:10:43.

that is going. And that shot is working today for

:10:44.:11:07.

Kvitova. Here, the one big step, but keeps her shoulders turns and John

:11:08.:11:10.

said that right wrist doing all the work.

:11:11.:11:15.

I think they would have been on Plan C if that had gone in, very quickly.

:11:16.:12:10.

Two set points come and gone for Kvitova.

:12:11.:12:43.

But not the third one. Hugely impressive from the Czech and

:12:44.:12:51.

midway through the second set, the run away train was heading over the

:12:52.:12:53.

hill. Here she is, 3-0 up. Stay low against the tall six footer

:12:54.:13:10.

from the Czech Republic. Doesn't seem to have the spring in

:13:11.:14:45.

her legs we have seen during the event.

:14:46.:14:51.

And this is when she really needs it.

:14:52.:15:29.

Yes! She has all the answers, today, Kvitova.

:15:30.:15:41.

Even though I want to see a close match, I don't want to see this

:15:42.:15:46.

level drop, because it's a pleasure to see. I hope Bouchard can get

:15:47.:15:56.

better. It doesn't seem likely at the moment. Trying to force that

:15:57.:16:05.

first serve a bit in this game. She has been off balance a number of

:16:06.:16:10.

times, finishing it. Because that is what is coming when she delivers the

:16:11.:16:13.

second. My goodness. I was all set to say

:16:14.:16:41.

that even when, it reminded me of playing Pete Sampras, who I had a

:16:42.:16:45.

miserable time, the few times we played. Even when you won games you

:16:46.:16:49.

didn't feel like you had a lot to do with it. But she didn't even win the

:16:50.:16:55.

game she I thought I was going to win, Bouchard. Four down. Kvitova is

:16:56.:17:00.

unbelievable at shot making. There was a thing of beauty three

:17:01.:17:21.

year ago, the way she came out, Kvitova in her first Grand Slam

:17:22.:17:25.

final and upset Sharapova. Sharapova the favourite in that. This has been

:17:26.:17:29.

even more impressive. She is playing some of the best tennis I have ever

:17:30.:17:33.

seen. Let's see, I got nine... I think I'm

:17:34.:18:00.

safe at the moment. To coin a phrase from you American,

:18:01.:18:43.

this has been simply awesome from Kvitova.

:18:44.:18:48.

-- Americans. Right now Bouchard is just hoping to

:18:49.:19:07.

try and get to an hour. 53 minutes. She should just watch tapes of this

:19:08.:19:59.

for the rest of her life. No matter what Bouchard tries, it doesn't seem

:20:00.:20:02.

to matter at all. Trying to get on the board. She

:20:03.:20:21.

simply hasn't been allowed the luxury to do what she normally does.

:20:22.:20:34.

You feel as thousand the engraver is just about to finish the A at the

:20:35.:20:43.

end of Kvitova, on the Venus Rosewater Dish. It is championship

:20:44.:20:45.

point. Up game, set and match Miss Kvitova.

:20:46.:21:16.

Her second Wimbledon title. How many more will there potentially be? That

:21:17.:21:20.

was one of the most special performances we have ever witnessed

:21:21.:21:27.

on Centre Court in a final here. Absolutely outstanding from Petra

:21:28.:21:32.

Kvitova. And everybody up standing as they should be. JOHN INVERDALE:

:21:33.:21:39.

Bouchard won just seven points in the second set. There was one that

:21:40.:21:45.

lasted less time years ago. Ki was the champion, lots of thank yous for

:21:46.:21:51.

coach, mum and dad, but the biggest hug at all reserved for the trophy.

:21:52.:21:57.

Very close to her heart. I know this is hard but everyone

:21:58.:22:02.

would love to hear from you. You were up against a player in top form

:22:03.:22:09.

today. Yes, first of all I would like to congratulate Petra. She has

:22:10.:22:15.

played fantastic these two weeks, it was tough for me but I am proud of

:22:16.:22:21.

how I played this tournament. I love coming coming back to Wimbledon. So

:22:22.:22:28.

thank you you guys. The Petra, the game plan, that worked. Definitely.

:22:29.:22:32.

I had a great tactic from my coach. He knows what I have to play. I

:22:33.:22:38.

wanted to be here, again w the trophy and I have to say Ewingy had

:22:39.:22:42.

a good journey. I think you are going to stay o Eugenie. You will be

:22:43.:22:50.

back soon, and definitely, I already played one final but you never know

:22:51.:22:54.

how it will happen. All my team helped me a lot during the years, to

:22:55.:23:00.

come back here, stay with the trophy, and, and, so...

:23:01.:23:05.

APPLAUSE I think everyone see what is it

:23:06.:23:08.

means to you, you have won the trophy before but this one is

:23:09.:23:14.

possibly even more special? I can say it is more special after three

:23:15.:23:17.

years to stand, to stay here where the trophy again, it is absolutely

:23:18.:23:24.

amazing, and definitely, I have to say once more, thank you so much, to

:23:25.:23:34.

my manager, my dad who has a birthday tomorrow.

:23:35.:23:37.

APPLAUSE If you continue to play like that

:23:38.:23:42.

there will be many more. Enjoy the trophy, enjoy the moment. Ladies and

:23:43.:23:44.

gentlemen, the trophy, enjoy the moment. Ladies and

:23:45.:23:49.

gentlemen, champion Petra Kvitova. JOHN INVERDALE: the obvious thing to

:23:50.:23:52.

say is, it wasn't a great contest but it was a great individual

:23:53.:24:01.

performance. I love big-hitting players. To see it played with that

:24:02.:24:06.

perfection, #i79 is not easy to do. She plays such high risk tennis and

:24:07.:24:11.

to be able to hit the lines time and again. I have never seen a final

:24:12.:24:15.

where the other player didn't play bad,

:24:16.:24:16.

where the other player didn't play but didn't stand a chance. We have a

:24:17.:24:22.

couple of rallies here, where are moments where Eugenie Bouchard was

:24:23.:24:29.

in the match, but Kvitova's shots were that much better. She moved so

:24:30.:24:36.

well. She seemed surprised how she stayed in the rallies. That is what

:24:37.:24:40.

she talked about in the press, because she is more fit than she

:24:41.:24:45.

was. This shot was such a small space to hit into there. How do you

:24:46.:24:54.

explain to people who don't understand, how is it possible for

:24:55.:25:01.

Kvitova to be so brilliant three years ago and then go into a never

:25:02.:25:06.

land and come back and play like this? It is tough in an individual

:25:07.:25:15.

sport and she is very shy and was thrust into the limelight,

:25:16.:25:18.

particularly in her home country and didn't like it and struggled under

:25:19.:25:23.

the pressure. Now this year something clicked. She seems more

:25:24.:25:27.

comfortable with it and she seems ready. I would be surprised if it

:25:28.:25:35.

takes her another three years to win another one. Somebody said Kvitova

:25:36.:25:44.

has won the final in an hour and a half less. She has been in complete

:25:45.:25:52.

control. Her upside is so high. The flungtation there is a --

:25:53.:25:59.

fluctuations that Petra plays with. When she is playing poorly, her game

:26:00.:26:05.

is so high risk and hits so hard and flat and just about a foot over the

:26:06.:26:13.

net. When it starts s to spray, she can can lose to anybody. It provides

:26:14.:26:18.

an opportunity for debate, one of which is bes of five in the Ladies'

:26:19.:26:23.

Singles final. What do you think. Could Kvitova have kept that level

:26:24.:26:27.

of performance up for another set. Would there not have been another

:26:28.:26:31.

dip and made it a better contest and for people who paid a lot of money,

:26:32.:26:38.

may have got better value for money. Normally you have that dip even in a

:26:39.:26:44.

two set match. It is so tough to play the biggest match of your life

:26:45.:26:52.

with something you're not used to. I would have liked to see Bouchard

:26:53.:26:56.

make adjustments earlier and maybe step back to get a better feel on

:26:57.:27:02.

her return game. But who knows? With Kvitova in the way she was playing,

:27:03.:27:06.

I don't know if three out of five would have saved her. It wasn't a

:27:07.:27:13.

football, it was a medicine ball. Normally the final is the highlight

:27:14.:27:18.

of the final Saturday. But it was almost building after this, after

:27:19.:27:22.

that rather there was this, the ladies doubles final and a big day

:27:23.:27:35.

for Vinci and Errani. That completed their career Grand Slam with their

:27:36.:27:43.

victory in straight sets. That was the aper teach to a -- aperitive to

:27:44.:27:55.

a amazing mens doubles final. Sock and Vasek Pospisil beating the Bryan

:27:56.:28:02.

brothers. The quality of that, the hand/eye co-ordination, the gentle

:28:03.:28:06.

touch and the parachutalty -- brutality at the same time was

:28:07.:28:11.

breath-taking. The first set tie-break, if you can access it on

:28:12.:28:16.

YouTube, it is worth watching just for that. The result was the Bryan

:28:17.:28:21.

brothers got themselves back to two sets all. Here we are at match point

:28:22.:28:28.

and how is that? For a way to win a Grand Slam title. It is the first

:28:29.:28:33.

Grand Slam they have ever played in together. To see two young guys that

:28:34.:28:38.

happy at the moment of victory, it is quite uplifting in the soul. It

:28:39.:28:50.

was she rifbg, Jack Sock won the mixed doubles at the US Open. We

:28:51.:28:54.

expected great things from Canada and it is Vasek Pospisil. There is

:28:55.:29:01.

the presentation and they can't stop grinning. I think, we are here think

:29:02.:29:07.

they're probably two guys to avoid tonight! They are going to be out

:29:08.:29:12.

having a great time somewhere in Wimbledon village or maybe into

:29:13.:29:16.

London town or wherever. So from the mens doubles to the mens singles

:29:17.:29:23.

tomorrow. That is the latest installment in tennis's heavy weight

:29:24.:29:24.

Championship of the world. There will be no surprises when

:29:25.:29:35.

Federer and Djokovic meet. Two of the sport's fantastic four are

:29:36.:29:41.

familiar foes. Very familiar. Roger Federer is just marginally more

:29:42.:29:46.

familiar with victory in their head-to-heads. More than a third of

:29:47.:29:51.

their encounters have come in majors. But just one Wimbledon face

:29:52.:30:03.

off in the semis. Novak's legend is still being constructed. But it is a

:30:04.:30:08.

fascinating prospect. We have never played in the finals here at

:30:09.:30:12.

Wimbledon, so it is a big deal for both of us. Any Wimbledon final is a

:30:13.:30:18.

big one. But both of us have one. It is not like it is a must-win. But it

:30:19.:30:22.

would be great for ethir one of us to get it done. Wimbledon being the

:30:23.:30:28.

most valuable tournament, it is the biggest one and playing another

:30:29.:30:32.

final in the event I always dreamed of winning, it is special each year.

:30:33.:30:36.

Although I have played in several occasions in the last couple of

:30:37.:30:43.

years. Federer was bad back played last year. He played it down. I'm

:30:44.:30:49.

happy things are going well. Last year was a difficult and different

:30:50.:30:56.

year. I have gone through problems in the past, but this lingered on. I

:30:57.:31:01.

wasn't sure how I was going to get out of it. I knew there was a way.

:31:02.:31:06.

It is a great feeling to be back in the finals. I see all the hard work

:31:07.:31:15.

has paid off. The only pay off Djokovic requires is another

:31:16.:31:18.

victory. I have the experience of playing in the big matches and I

:31:19.:31:24.

want to win that Grand Slam title. The last one was in 2013 and I feel

:31:25.:31:29.

losing three of the Grand Slam titles got to my mind and I need to

:31:30.:31:35.

overcome that. Our finalists have done it all before. It is now a case

:31:36.:31:45.

of simply getting it on. It is good to have nerves. It means your part

:31:46.:31:50.

offing in that is -- part of something that is important and you

:31:51.:31:58.

care about it and hopefully I can deal with the nerves. I feel I'm in

:31:59.:32:03.

good shape and there is a good chance to do something. We will see

:32:04.:32:09.

if Novak agrees or not! I am sure that he is going to be coming out

:32:10.:32:16.

and the great champion he is he will perform well and he may be the

:32:17.:32:19.

favourite, maybe I am because of the history, but I think it will be a

:32:20.:32:26.

nice match and we hopefully will both play great tennis. You're

:32:27.:32:33.

always guaranteed some high quality music here. Let's homest hope it is

:32:34.:32:37.

a -- let's hope it is a quality game. How much does Djokovic have to

:32:38.:32:45.

prove he is a winner again. Ealways has something to prove. Because he

:32:46.:32:52.

is playing in the era of Federer and Nadal. There is no worse feeling

:32:53.:32:57.

than being second at a Grand Slam and having to sit there and not get

:32:58.:33:03.

the trophy. He is going to want to change that here. From Federer's

:33:04.:33:07.

point of view, he has been written off so many times. So many times.

:33:08.:33:12.

And he is not the kind of person to stick two fingers up to people. But

:33:13.:33:17.

you almost feel that he is, that he is saying, hey, you thought you knew

:33:18.:33:20.

about these things, I'm still here. I think there maybe a bit of that.

:33:21.:33:27.

But I think he is happy for himself and to be healthy and fit and he is

:33:28.:33:32.

feeling confident on court. He has won a couple of titles this year and

:33:33.:33:37.

he has come through in straight sets and only been broken serve one day.

:33:38.:33:46.

83% first serves. He has a lot in the energy bank and he is feeling

:33:47.:33:55.

good and playing spectacular tennis. Stefan Edburg is in his corner. Is

:33:56.:34:01.

the Edburg/Becker a fascinating subplot. Or is it just us that are

:34:02.:34:07.

making it interesting. The players are the players and the ones that

:34:08.:34:11.

will decide it. But it is a great twist. It is fun to see them. They

:34:12.:34:16.

played Grand Slams with each other. What do you think of the impact of

:34:17.:34:22.

Edburg on Roger. You can't deny it. For Roger there is very few people

:34:23.:34:29.

he looks up to and Edburg is one. What a great demeanor Stefan has and

:34:30.:34:37.

he will listen to him and to come in more opt grass. The serve is work

:34:38.:34:42.

great. Just to have that calm voice in your head, although Roger is

:34:43.:34:46.

possibly one of the greatest ever. It has helped. On the other hand,

:34:47.:34:51.

how important is it for the, well for Boris in a way, that Novak wins,

:34:52.:34:57.

because he has been on, within touching distance, but has not got a

:34:58.:35:05.

troef which with -- trophy with him. That is why he hired him. I was

:35:06.:35:10.

proud of Novak, because he talked about that, how it has been a few

:35:11.:35:15.

points in the Grand Slams, he said maybe I should have had a few more

:35:16.:35:23.

titles. He knews there was one element and that is why he brought

:35:24.:35:28.

Boris in, to get in the head of a champion. Djokovic has talked about

:35:29.:35:33.

the last two matches, where he was ahead, let the match slip and let

:35:34.:35:39.

Cilic get in and Dimitrov and those are the matches he can't have those

:35:40.:35:45.

lapses. Federer this a much older, but he has played five hours left. I

:35:46.:35:50.

is that a factor?. Yes it has been an ideal road to the final for

:35:51.:35:55.

Federer. Because it gets harder to recover the older you get and he has

:35:56.:35:59.

lost one set. Even in the semi final he breezed through that in three

:36:00.:36:05.

easy sets. It might not be as good a chance for Roger again. And he has

:36:06.:36:13.

17 Grand Slam titles. 18 puts him further from Nadal. I think he

:36:14.:36:17.

realises this is a great noement for him. -- moment for him. He will be

:36:18.:36:23.

the oldest champion in the modern era. And the winner is? Federer. I
