# Monday Monday. # I don't like Mondays. The round of

:00:55.:01:11.

16, the second Monday, Magic. Coming up on Today at Wimbledon,

:01:12.:01:32.

Murray faces the chaos created by Nick Kyrgios, Serena centres her

:01:33.:01:36.

mind on Svetlana, and we will bring you the best of the busiest day of

:01:37.:01:44.

top-class action. It doesn't happen at any other Grand Slam, the last 16

:01:45.:01:49.

men, the last 16 win an all in action today, leading to one of the

:01:50.:01:55.

best days in sport. It is also July the 4th, and so we have an all

:01:56.:01:59.

American panel, John McEnroe and Tracy Austin with me to discuss the

:02:00.:02:06.

stories. Welcome to both. Happy July the 4th. And commiserations. For

:02:07.:02:14.

what? For losing us. I am so pleased you are with us. At least we have

:02:15.:02:18.

you on the BBC. And we are going to start with what the Americans would

:02:19.:02:23.

bill as the popcorn match on Centre Court, the 2013 Wimbledon champion

:02:24.:02:26.

and second seed against the entertainer of the modern era,

:02:27.:02:32.

Australia's Nick Kyrgios. The world number two soph Australian John

:02:33.:02:36.

Milner last time out and has not dropped a set on his way to the

:02:37.:02:40.

fourth round. But to progress to the last eight, he would have to

:02:41.:02:44.

overcome another Aussie, Nick Kyrgios. The 15th seed was a

:02:45.:02:49.

Wimbledon quarterfinalist in 2014 and looked at his brilliant best to

:02:50.:02:53.

beat Feliciano Lopez yesterday. He and Mary might be rivals today but

:02:54.:02:57.

of court there is definitely a bromance brewing. He is a very

:02:58.:03:03.

relaxed guy. He winds me up all the time. Sometimes he has not done a

:03:04.:03:08.

lot wrong and he has got a rough ride. It is not really fair on him.

:03:09.:03:18.

It was love at first sight. Nick Kyrgios was so relaxed, he actually

:03:19.:03:23.

prepared for it by watching Lleyton Hewitt, his Australian Davis Cup

:03:24.:03:28.

captain and mentor. And that is Lleyton Hewitt's little boy there,

:03:29.:03:32.

looking at things on the phone. When the match started in front of a

:03:33.:03:35.

packed crowd on Centre Court, there were lovely touches from both

:03:36.:03:38.

players, would Nick Kyrgios is trying to drop shot Murray, playing

:03:39.:03:45.

him at his own game. And as usual, Murray with the perfected lob. He

:03:46.:03:49.

really does play that shot so well. And it looked like it would become

:03:50.:03:56.

the match that we had hoped for. We will pick it up in that first set.

:03:57.:04:04.

At 5-6. With Nick Kyrgios serving. John McEnroe in the commentary box

:04:05.:04:07.

alongside John Inverdale. JOHN INVERDALE: Is this when Marie

:04:08.:04:27.

ups the anti-? Of course every top player senses vulnerability. A

:04:28.:04:32.

player feeling pressure. Of course at the end of the set it is only

:04:33.:04:41.

natural that will happen. He had a chance there and he took it. That is

:04:42.:04:52.

a spectacular pass. But Nick Kyrgios, why did he hit an approach

:04:53.:04:55.

like that, giving him time to line that up? Murray says thank you very

:04:56.:05:02.

much. He needs some big serves here now.

:05:03.:05:08.

That is such a shard play -- Sharp play by Murray. The first time the

:05:09.:05:22.

questions were asked of Kyrgios, Murray makes him play like that. And

:05:23.:05:29.

here we are. Almost unforeseen, Andy Murray three points for the first

:05:30.:05:31.

set. UMPIRE: Mr Murray is challenging the

:05:32.:05:45.

call. Ball called in. That was long a share. -- long -ish but it was

:05:46.:05:55.

good -ish. Completely unplayable, saving one break point.

:05:56.:06:05.

The first set goes to Murray. Two set point saved by Nick Kyrgios but

:06:06.:06:46.

not the third. Murray took it 7-5. The second set was interesting.

:06:47.:06:49.

Let's join it early. Kyrgios serving.

:06:50.:06:57.

JOHN INVERDALE: Murray, very disciplined at the moment. An ace

:06:58.:07:04.

from Kyrgios at 109mph. That is almost him pushing it. JOHN MCENROE:

:07:05.:07:09.

And now a second serve. We can see a lack of discipline

:07:10.:07:24.

there because he should have taken the volley. But I'm letting it drop,

:07:25.:07:30.

it allowed Murray time to get to it. He could have got to that in the

:07:31.:07:35.

air. He does not have to play the shot like that. He not have to. That

:07:36.:07:44.

goes without saying. But still worth seeing. And he did not have to do

:07:45.:07:54.

that either. And that is a real shriek of frustration from Kyrgios

:07:55.:07:57.

because he knows he has been the architect of his own downfall here.

:07:58.:08:19.

And the other Australians still in the tournament is at 7-7 in the

:08:20.:08:26.

fifth set at the moment. Lucas Pouille his opponent. It looks as if

:08:27.:08:33.

Kyrgios is on the edge of disaster. Bernard Tomic is playing Lucas

:08:34.:08:58.

Pouille. That match has been swinging this way and bad for the

:08:59.:09:07.

last three and a half hours. And break point for Andy Murray, which

:09:08.:09:10.

could be very, very influential in deciding the outcome of this match.

:09:11.:09:32.

That early break of serve almost seemed to break Kyrgios' heart. It

:09:33.:09:39.

certainly brokers concentration. Murray was on his game. That 124mph

:09:40.:09:46.

ace saw him wrap up the second set in 28 minutes. He took it 6-1. Early

:09:47.:09:51.

in the third, Kyrgios is about to serve.

:09:52.:10:32.

Here he and again it is not the right idea, it is just executing

:10:33.:10:42.

them too short. -- when Kyrgios has been in a hall,

:10:43.:11:12.

his service has documented of it. But then he does that. That is what

:11:13.:11:16.

happened at the end of the first set. And this might be handing the

:11:17.:11:21.

match to Andy Murray on our plate. Three break points.

:11:22.:11:31.

Insurer needs of those big serves no. Murray is calmness personified.

:11:32.:11:54.

That is better from Raonic. Or from Kyrgios. I was looking at you as I

:11:55.:12:04.

said that. He figured out a way back. It certainly does not look

:12:05.:12:13.

likely for Kyrgios. It does not look like he's going to make it to seven

:12:14.:12:19.

o'clock right now. The first time Andy Murray has let out a shriek.

:12:20.:12:24.

And that was that. Murray's eighth ace of the match clinched victory

:12:25.:12:32.

and earned him a place in the quarterfinals for a ninth year in a

:12:33.:12:35.

row and also gave him his 50th win at Wimbledon. Was that much more

:12:36.:12:40.

comfortable than you imagined two the second set was. The first set

:12:41.:12:45.

was very tight. I managed to get the break at 6-5, but it was a very

:12:46.:12:52.

tight up to that point. The second set was more comfortable. Nick lost

:12:53.:12:55.

focus in the middle part of that said, which made it more easy. But

:12:56.:13:00.

the third set, again he served a high percentage. I was able to get

:13:01.:13:04.

the ball back in play, and I was able to dictate a lot of the rallies

:13:05.:13:08.

and get an early break, which was big. I was really comfortable out

:13:09.:13:13.

there in the first set and I thought I was playing some good tennis. I

:13:14.:13:16.

believed I could win the match and then as soon as I lost the first

:13:17.:13:21.

set, I lost belief. I was a little soft, still. When things get tough,

:13:22.:13:26.

I am soft. I have got the experience but ultimately it comes down to

:13:27.:13:30.

laying it out there and competing. And they did not do that today at

:13:31.:13:38.

all. He spent longer with you at the net at the end of the match then he

:13:39.:13:42.

would normally, do you think? He said sorry and I said, OK. Just win

:13:43.:13:47.

the tournament, please. And then we hugged. Nick Kyrgios being pretty

:13:48.:13:52.

brutal in his own self-assessment. A lot of people disappointed with his

:13:53.:13:57.

performance, but let's talk about Andy Murray and the way that he

:13:58.:14:01.

played and the match plan he had and how he executed it. Well, I think he

:14:02.:14:08.

is extremely well-prepared and he is playing better than anyone in a

:14:09.:14:11.

tournament right now. He knows that Kyrgios is a bit soft and to some

:14:12.:14:14.

extent we did not seek another that today, but make no mistake, Murray's

:14:15.:14:20.

movement is very intimidating. He played at a higher level. The first

:14:21.:14:24.

set was close but you have to anticipate that if you are playing a

:14:25.:14:28.

guy that good. When things get tight, he will step up, like Murray

:14:29.:14:33.

did. Is anticipation has always been good. He finds the angle is very

:14:34.:14:38.

good. -- he finds the angles beautifully. Of course it does but

:14:39.:14:43.

Kyrgios did not do enough with balls where he needed to do damage. Murray

:14:44.:14:47.

just toyed with him with the drop shots. Nick Kyrgios acted like he

:14:48.:14:52.

thought that Murray had never hit a drop shot before. That was

:14:53.:14:55.

absolutely the right play because Kyrgios back that a little bit.

:14:56.:15:00.

Murray played well. Disappointment big-time, as a fan of tennis and as

:15:01.:15:04.

a player, as someone who hopes to find Kyrgios coming into his own.

:15:05.:15:10.

This bit of analysis, Tracy, you will find fascinating. It is the

:15:11.:15:17.

Hawk-Eye Read on where Murray was hitting his shot during a rally. So

:15:18.:15:23.

much variety. He has the slices, the change of pace, the depth. As John

:15:24.:15:30.

said, he uses so many drop shots, to draw Nick Kyrgios in, but not on his

:15:31.:15:35.

own terms. Nick got very frustrated today, and at least he called

:15:36.:15:39.

himself on it, but at this stage of Wimbledon, you cannot just go away.

:15:40.:15:45.

You have to dig a little deeper. He has so much talent, the talent is

:15:46.:15:49.

obvious, and almost every player in this tournament would love to have

:15:50.:15:53.

as much talent as he does. I wonder how much passion he has for the

:15:54.:15:58.

game. Is he afraid to put it on the line? It did not look like it hurt

:15:59.:16:05.

him. I don't know about you but when we lost, it hurts for days and it

:16:06.:16:09.

does not look like it bothered him that much. You are hitting the nail

:16:10.:16:14.

on the head. It has a feel of failure but his way of dealing with

:16:15.:16:17.

that, for example, how many players go out there to prepare for a round

:16:18.:16:24.

of 16 match of Wimbledon and watch Lleyton Hewitt play doubles? Is that

:16:25.:16:28.

any type of preparation? Or to play video games, like he said in the

:16:29.:16:33.

press conference. Are you kidding? He even called himself pathetic in

:16:34.:16:37.

the second and third sets. And it is almost upset, -- upsetting for you

:16:38.:16:43.

because you know how good he could be. And more importantly, the only

:16:44.:16:47.

time I really get down on players when I do commentary is when I see

:16:48.:16:51.

them throw the towel. Is Wimbledon. I mean how much of a better chance

:16:52.:16:57.

do you have to play a match and step up and get respect? That is where

:16:58.:17:00.

people are just befuddled. Why is he doing this? And we expected a tight

:17:01.:17:07.

match. If it was not going to be a tight match, at least put in the

:17:08.:17:10.

best effort. Discipline is what he needs to find. We have spoken about

:17:11.:17:15.

his maturity because he has had some incidents, but he needs to look

:17:16.:17:18.

across the net and look at Andy Murray. Andy Murray crosses his teas

:17:19.:17:28.

and dots his 'i's, Raonic, your guy, he has added a third coach to add

:17:29.:17:35.

another level. Nick needs to do that. I don't think he has a coach.

:17:36.:17:39.

Lleyton Hewitt part-time but not a real coach. There are plenty of

:17:40.:17:42.

people lined up to do it but obviously Nick needs to find himself

:17:43.:17:46.

and look in the mirror, and look at players like Andy Murray. Let's move

:17:47.:17:50.

to a player who never lacks motivation. Yesterday she registered

:17:51.:17:55.

her 300 Grand Slam win and she is also celebrating a 300 week at

:17:56.:17:59.

number one this week, not consecutively but overrule. Serena

:18:00.:18:03.

Williams today faces an opponent she knows very well, Svetlana

:18:04.:18:09.

Kuznetsova. We have seen two sides of Serena Williams this tournament.

:18:10.:18:14.

The tense, anxious, unstable, angry Serena, taken to 3 cents last Friday

:18:15.:18:20.

by Christina McHale. And the cool, collected, convincing Serena, who

:18:21.:18:25.

dismissed Annika Beck yesterday. Which side of Serena would turn up

:18:26.:18:29.

against Svetlana Kuznetsova? The Russian is one of very few people to

:18:30.:18:33.

have beaten her three times. She is a two-time Grand Slam champion and

:18:34.:18:36.

would not be overawed by the setting. Or the status of her

:18:37.:18:44.

opponent. It was a very close and competitive first set of tennis. The

:18:45.:18:53.

players exchanged breaks of serve. Kuznetsova never let her head get

:18:54.:18:56.

down even though she had gone down early. And both of them, the timing

:18:57.:19:02.

was pretty good with good movement as well. They have played 12 times

:19:03.:19:07.

with nine wins for Williams and 34 Kuznetsova. This was always going to

:19:08.:19:12.

be a good match. We join it at four games all in the first set.

:19:13.:19:15.

Commentary from Sam Smith and Lindsey Davenport.

:19:16.:19:30.

That last forehand, 83 miles an hour. Talk about an average.

:19:31.:19:55.

Again, the second serve, an important part of Serena's game.

:19:56.:20:03.

Kuznetsova is able to put some pressure on Serena with that return.

:20:04.:20:25.

Kuznetsova had a forehand early on that rally where she had some time

:20:26.:20:30.

but she was passive on it and Serena was able to take control of the

:20:31.:20:34.

rally. On this surface, if you get a shot and you have time against

:20:35.:20:41.

Serena, you have got to play some offence against her.

:20:42.:20:50.

Kuznetsova does have the ability to put Serena in some awkward places on

:20:51.:20:53.

the court. It's long. And Williams is just

:20:54.:21:20.

starting to fret. Oh dear. Kuznetsova breaks in

:21:21.:21:57.

strange circumstances. The rain is coming down. And it will be the

:21:58.:22:01.

Russian who will serve for this first set. But what drama on Centre

:22:02.:22:03.

Court. Aware of a -- be wary of a fired up

:22:04.:22:16.

Serena. The variety of Kuznetsova has thrown

:22:17.:22:51.

Williams off her game. Low slices, eyeballs, and she has her rhythm. --

:22:52.:22:57.

high balls. Another double fault. Serving on

:22:58.:23:46.

grass against one of the greatest of all times, you have to believe. You

:23:47.:23:50.

have got to go for your shots. Kuznetsova does not believe right

:23:51.:23:54.

now. Playing a little too passively, trying to close out this first set.

:23:55.:24:14.

All square on centre. Serena responding to her serve being

:24:15.:24:23.

broken by breaking back straightaway. Here she is in

:24:24.:24:27.

conversation with the umpire. The tournament referee came out and

:24:28.:24:30.

eventually the players went off. The roof was closed. And we join it as

:24:31.:24:39.

the match resumed. Serena went on to take that first set 7-5. Let's join

:24:40.:24:43.

it with Kuznetsova serving at the start of the second.

:24:44.:25:01.

I feel like the power of the Serena game, whether it is the server or

:25:02.:25:36.

the ground strokes, is too tough to defend against in this indoor court.

:25:37.:25:41.

It plays fast because of the grass. It is even more perfect for a big

:25:42.:25:43.

hitter in these types of conditions. Roger Federer loves it. And so does

:25:44.:26:01.

Serena, when the roof is closed. It is really different. The air is

:26:02.:26:06.

thick, and more humid, and you are able to hit the ball so cleanly. It

:26:07.:26:09.

just sounds different. Everything is getting away from

:26:10.:26:31.

Kuznetsova now. It is all going away from the

:26:32.:27:30.

Russian now. Sam Smith predicted it and she was right. It was one way

:27:31.:27:37.

traffic. When the roof closed, Serena became so much more

:27:38.:27:40.

comfortable and stable. And Kuznetsova could not win another

:27:41.:27:49.

game. Serena with three match points on the Kuznetsova serve. Takes it

:27:50.:28:01.

straightaway. The score, 7-5, 6-0, and she spoke afterwards about the

:28:02.:28:04.

difficulty of playing on a greasy surface.

:28:05.:28:13.

And we will hear from her in a moment. But Tracey, just a match of

:28:14.:28:18.

two completely different halves. When Serena slipped, clearly she was

:28:19.:28:21.

finding it difficult out there. The way she landed, her feet can

:28:22.:28:26.

sometimes go away from her. That is when she got broken, to go down 5-4

:28:27.:28:32.

and Svetlana were not able -- was not able to hold. Serena asked if

:28:33.:28:35.

they could go off the court. And then it was never the same match

:28:36.:28:40.

again. The first ten games, Svetlana was doing a incredible job of

:28:41.:28:44.

playing smartly, mixing it up, with slices that were deep, slices that

:28:45.:28:48.

were short, jerking Serena around, and she was not getting in a good

:28:49.:28:54.

rhythm. Kuznetsova, she has beaten Serena three times, in the Miami

:28:55.:28:59.

fourth round this year. She was not going to be overwhelmed by Serena.

:29:00.:29:03.

But once they came back, Serena never lost another game. And she

:29:04.:29:06.

looked like a completely different player. She said it was fortunate

:29:07.:29:11.

for them to go off and talk to their coaches. Fortunate for Serena

:29:12.:29:14.

because Patrick had some good ideas and she changed again and started to

:29:15.:29:19.

attack the second serve. And she was spot on, this was the best she has

:29:20.:29:23.

looked at this tournament. And it is also good to be flexible. To do the

:29:24.:29:28.

splits like that and still be able to walk?! Impressive to be flexible,

:29:29.:29:34.

and strong, a lethal combination. Kuznetsova, I like her a lot and she

:29:35.:29:38.

will be in the hollow thing but I do not think she has ever been that

:29:39.:29:42.

comfortable on this surface. She played a long, tough match against

:29:43.:29:45.

Stevens. I'm not sure how much she had left in the tank after she lost

:29:46.:29:50.

the first set. Serena, her game is so much more impactful, and you

:29:51.:29:58.

pointed out the second serve, it is pretty vulnerable. Kuznetsova and

:29:59.:30:03.

Serena start going after it. Whatever Serena does, it creates

:30:04.:30:06.

headlines and today, the story was what she said to the umpire when she

:30:07.:30:09.

wanted to come off court. Have a watch of this.

:30:10.:30:29.

You are the second player in the tournament to threaten to Sue over

:30:30.:30:35.

the rain coming down and play continuing. Do you think the

:30:36.:30:39.

tournament is taking seriously the welfare of the players when it comes

:30:40.:30:44.

to the rain and taking them off and back again? Yes, they are doing a

:30:45.:30:49.

great job with that. Threatening a lawsuit is quite an extreme measure.

:30:50.:30:55.

You guys, don't even try me like that. I was in the moment, I was on

:30:56.:31:00.

the court. And what I say on the court, whether it is smashing my

:31:01.:31:04.

racket or it is in the heat of the moment, I have no plans, no future

:31:05.:31:09.

of suing Wimbledon. Let's get serious, that is not what I do, that

:31:10.:31:12.

is not what I'm. The trouble is, that is what she

:31:13.:31:19.

said. Ascot this guy coming he has been in the moment before! At think

:31:20.:31:26.

a lot of times, I have got into with players and fans and umpires and

:31:27.:31:30.

anybody else who wanted a piece of me so I can relate to what Serena

:31:31.:31:35.

says. What happens on the pitch, in the field, on the tennis court is

:31:36.:31:38.

different from when you have a chance to count to ten and speak to

:31:39.:31:43.

family members, get some common sense, perspective. Not so heated up

:31:44.:31:48.

from the match and you start to think sensibly. It is scary when you

:31:49.:31:53.

start to fall because it doesn't take much rain. Just a little miss

:31:54.:31:58.

and it becomes very slippery. The problem now is not rain, it is

:31:59.:32:02.

light. On Court three, the people on Henman Hill watching the match. It

:32:03.:32:09.

is Jiri Vesely against Tomas Berdych for a place in the quarterfinals.

:32:10.:32:13.

Tomas Berdych has served for the match, it is match point against. He

:32:14.:32:18.

has broken the serve of Jiri Vesely and he has now got his third match

:32:19.:32:25.

point. We can stay with it. I'm not sure we are allowed to point out who

:32:26.:32:28.

the winner of this matchplay is, do we know that yet? Have we shown that

:32:29.:32:35.

yet? I don't think we have done. Don't say it, then! It is a good

:32:36.:32:39.

opportunity for the winner. Can we say who it is between? No! The

:32:40.:32:45.

suspense is building. Tomas Berdych a runner up here a couple of years

:32:46.:32:55.

ago. Jiri Vesely beat Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo. That match is online

:32:56.:32:59.

and we will keep you up-to-date between now and the end of the

:33:00.:33:02.

programme because it may or may not finish before we go away. Without

:33:03.:33:07.

giving anything away, this was the match of the championship so far.

:33:08.:33:11.

Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska, runner up here previously, against

:33:12.:33:17.

Dominika Cibulkova who has won more matches this year than any other

:33:18.:33:22.

player, it was sensational tennis from the beginning to the end,

:33:23.:33:29.

incredible rallies. This is match point in the second set, so a lot of

:33:30.:33:37.

more match to go. Absolutely, took the first set and she had match

:33:38.:33:44.

point. Radwanska saved three match points and she forced it into a

:33:45.:33:51.

decider which was a thriller. It was Radwanska's turn to have match point

:33:52.:33:55.

and she could not convert so this is 7-7 and commentary is from James

:33:56.:33:59.

Burridge and Tracy. She has done it again! Down, but not

:34:00.:34:34.

out yet! Just improvises so well. Whatever she needs to do to get that

:34:35.:34:37.

ball back in play. Flexibility. Just got so low. Even Agnieszka

:34:38.:35:08.

Radwanska could not scoop that one back.

:35:09.:35:46.

She did not really need to go for that shot. I wonder if the teat is

:35:47.:35:54.

setting in for both players. These are sprints, two hours and 49

:35:55.:36:01.

minutes. Cibulkova not bouncing around quite as much as she was.

:36:02.:36:07.

Just incessant jumping. There it goes!

:36:08.:36:19.

What a time for a double. Her second of the match. The forearm is

:36:20.:36:33.

tightening. Her mind is going crazy. What is it like for the coaches

:36:34.:36:34.

watching? Yes! The perfect point from

:36:35.:37:03.

Cibulkova, always looking for the forehand. Dictating from the inside,

:37:04.:37:12.

out. Fantastic for work. Another break point. -- footwork. She has

:37:13.:37:19.

had so many over the course of this match. Agnieszka Radwanska, once

:37:20.:37:35.

again, that first serve. Variety in this lady's game, look at the break

:37:36.:37:39.

point is saved. 15 break point is saved. 21 altogether, Radwanska has

:37:40.:37:52.

faced. But one more on the list. The return serve. Rifled right back down

:37:53.:38:00.

at her feet. Like she is gasping for air here, Cibulkova.

:38:01.:38:26.

She is getting there! What fabulous, fabulous light from these two

:38:27.:38:39.

players. CLARE BALDING: Cibulkova served for

:38:40.:38:44.

the match for the third time for a place in the quarterfinals for the

:38:45.:38:48.

third time in her career but this was a battle royale in this rally.

:38:49.:38:55.

Tracy, you must have been gasping. It is absolutely incredible rallies

:38:56.:38:59.

they had because neither has a knockout punch with the burden --

:39:00.:39:03.

with the big serve so they both have to work it. Cibulkova went for

:39:04.:39:08.

bigger winners and it was Radwanska with her craftiness and different

:39:09.:39:14.

types of spin. And watch this! That is ready good for a girl that is

:39:15.:39:22.

five at one! Five foot three! They had play for two hours 54 minutes

:39:23.:39:28.

when that rally happens. She gets warned here about taking too much

:39:29.:39:32.

time. She got a warning in the beginning of the first set and two

:39:33.:39:36.

other times got her first serve taken away for taking too much time.

:39:37.:39:42.

But finally, after three hours exactly, Cibulkova closed it out and

:39:43.:39:48.

her fiance giving her a hug. 9-7 in the third. And the third seed

:39:49.:39:54.

Agnieszka Radwanska is out. It is getting very tough. Especially

:39:55.:39:58.

physically for me because to get in the second week of a Grand Slam is

:39:59.:40:04.

always very tough physically and mentally. And today, I just felt

:40:05.:40:09.

that I was physically going really for my 100% and I felt like I could

:40:10.:40:13.

not give more on the court. So today, I think eating through was a

:40:14.:40:19.

great game and just my fighting experience because without that, I

:40:20.:40:21.

would not win today. -- getting She is a lesson of never giving up,

:40:22.:40:31.

she is sensational. She is and that is my match of the tournament so

:40:32.:40:35.

far. Her 56th winner, brave when she needed to be. She is getting married

:40:36.:40:40.

on Saturday, she might have to change our plans. You saw him with

:40:41.:40:43.

the beard, he was courtside for some of the match and he went back to the

:40:44.:40:47.

stands. He was afraid to look! How could they set the wedding. Today?

:40:48.:40:52.

She did not think she played well on grass but she was the winner in

:40:53.:40:57.

Eastbourne and is on a nine match winning streak on grass and if she

:40:58.:41:00.

wins tomorrow, she will postpone the wedding day. I'm sure that will cost

:41:01.:41:04.

money but if she gets to the final, she will have a lot of money to do

:41:05.:41:11.

that. I think the person to call Nick Kyrgios is Dominika Cibulkova

:41:12.:41:18.

as far as competing 100%. It was wonderful and you watch these

:41:19.:41:22.

rallies again and again and the shotmaking within them, they don't

:41:23.:41:27.

just bludgeon the ball, it is their athleticism and energy and fitness

:41:28.:41:30.

and thinking under pressure. Yes, I always say Radwanska has the highest

:41:31.:41:36.

tennis IQ in women's tennis because she doesn't have the ability to win

:41:37.:41:40.

it with one big shot, she has to out manoeuvre her opponent with angles

:41:41.:41:46.

and slices. She comes forward. She has come forward over 100 times in

:41:47.:41:50.

this tournament so far, Radwanska. I'm amazed how offensive Cibulkova

:41:51.:41:52.

is at five but one! -- five foot one. This was three

:41:53.:42:03.

hours and the crowd was so appreciative. It is not a ticketed

:42:04.:42:06.

match so anybody coming in, they chose the right match! Court three

:42:07.:42:10.

got the best of the day because they still have a match, Tomas Berdych

:42:11.:42:16.

against Jiri Vesely which has gone to a fourth set tie-break. Berdych

:42:17.:42:22.

had three break points, he could not win at 0-40 and is 2-1 up. If this

:42:23.:42:28.

goes the way of Jiri Vesely, it goes to a decider. Jiri Vesely had a

:42:29.:42:35.

bunch of set point so this has been a seesaw battle. Berdych has been

:42:36.:42:43.

complaining about the light. Understandably, it is late, but that

:42:44.:42:46.

is stress. These guys, they are not finished yet. One match that has

:42:47.:42:54.

stopped at 13-13 in third set is the doubles match featuring Jamie Murray

:42:55.:43:00.

and Bruno Soares against Mate Pavic and Venus. 13-13 and going to the

:43:01.:43:07.

best of five. Why have they stopped and Vesely and two -- and Tomas

:43:08.:43:13.

Berdych are still playing? They could stop it now. That is not a

:43:14.:43:20.

very good idea at all! Berdych was down three -- zero and 5-1. It could

:43:21.:43:27.

have been 6-3 so it is amazing he is still in this. People but does

:43:28.:43:34.

people have been going crazy and I have a hard time not looking

:43:35.:43:38.

grounds. We will give you news of the other women through to the

:43:39.:43:43.

quarterfinals. We could two opens with a relentless

:43:44.:43:49.

rhythm. Wimbledon's pulse quickened and the pressure surges. Smyrna

:43:50.:43:54.

Halep beat Madison Keys. Simona Halep had control and she served to

:43:55.:43:59.

win it but the chance sailed away from her.

:44:00.:44:05.

It is in! In the tie-break, it was seized by Madison Keys. The heat was

:44:06.:44:09.

on Simona Halep but this was a counterpunch and she took it on the

:44:10.:44:12.

chin and she hit back. The match level, it was on the third and in

:44:13.:44:17.

the intensity, Madison Keys buckled and Halep pounced on her weakness.

:44:18.:44:24.

But in the quarterfinals, there is Angelique Kerber. The Australian

:44:25.:44:29.

Open winner this year and the fourth seed, quietly and methodically, she

:44:30.:44:34.

set about this game. Against Misaki Doi. And nobody ranked higher than

:44:35.:44:40.

in the week her best and between her and the final.

:44:41.:44:45.

Ekaterina Makarova knew her fourth round opponent Elena Vesnina well,

:44:46.:44:51.

they are doubles opponent is. Ekaterina Makarova use the

:44:52.:44:53.

familiarity to her advantage in the first set but it went wrong for the

:44:54.:44:58.

world number 35. Elena Vesnina struck back in the second. Makarova

input out Petra Witte was missing. -- Petra Witte by. One she had

:45:06.:45:11.

reached her first Wimbledon quarterfinal, they could be friends

:45:12.:45:17.

again. Underestimate Yaroslava Shvedova at your peril, she had

:45:18.:45:22.

beaten her opponent three times before this and she knew where to

:45:23.:45:26.

put it. Number 28 seed is out, everything is right in the world of

:45:27.:45:32.

Yaroslava Shvedova. A quarter of the last 16 women were from the USA,

:45:33.:45:37.

American pride on Independence Day. This player was running through

brackets and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was getting through

:45:42.:45:46.

games -- rackets. She has just given her racket to a child on the front

:45:47.:45:52.

row! But the Coco Vandeweghe extended to the match. He wanted to

:45:53.:46:00.

salute an American institution and Court Number One was the place to be

:46:01.:46:04.

to see Venus Williams. Into your 19th, at Juhasz seen it all. Being

:46:05.:46:09.

down to Carla Suarez Navarro did not trouble her and she used her craft

:46:10.:46:12.

and guile to negotiate the first set to a tie-break. The Spanish woman's

:46:13.:46:17.

challenge ended there and Venus has an aura that can make recovery seem

:46:18.:46:23.

impossible. At 36, she is still competitive.

:46:24.:46:28.

She is the oldest player since Martina Navratilova in 1984 and she

:46:29.:46:34.

reached the final that year. 1994, she lost the Conchita Martinez. So

:46:35.:46:38.

it is not impossible Venus could reach the final. If you look at the

:46:39.:46:42.

quarterfinal draw, Serena Williams and Venus indifferent parts of the

:46:43.:46:47.

draw and the could face each other in the final as they had before. The

:46:48.:46:53.

reach of Venus is incredible. It is and she loves to play on the

:46:54.:46:56.

surface, winning here five times before. Back into the top ten. And

:46:57.:47:01.

she has played well and built her way through the tournament and had a

:47:02.:47:05.

couple of 3-set matches and the rain delays have got her. Remember, she

:47:06.:47:09.

was up when the rain came in her former game and that was exhausting

:47:10.:47:13.

hanging around. She has played doubles with Serena and they are

:47:14.:47:18.

playing in Rio so they want to get some matches under their belt. Look

:47:19.:47:23.

at Venus, she is in the bottom half of the draw. Can I say so now? Yes,

:47:24.:47:29.

we have seen all the women's matches and we can show you the quarterfinal

:47:30.:47:35.

draw. This is at good opportunity. Simona Halep has been in the

:47:36.:47:38.

quarterfinals and Angelique Kerber. And that is able very winnable match

:47:39.:47:44.

against Yaroslava Shvedova. She is the only one who has not dropped a

:47:45.:47:51.

set, she is playing well. Angelique Kerber will be the favourite against

:47:52.:47:55.

Venus even though she has won this five times at this stage of their

:47:56.:47:58.

careers. Simona Halep is playing the best she has played all year and

:47:59.:48:05.

Kerber was the winner of the Australian but as Venus, as long as

:48:06.:48:10.

she plays Wimbledon, she will not get a better chance to get to a

:48:11.:48:14.

final. And she absolutely is thinking of doing that, and they

:48:15.:48:17.

will be thrilled to be in different halves of the draw. I can't believe

:48:18.:48:21.

they are still playing on Court number three in the fourth set

:48:22.:48:26.

tie-break. Can I have an update? 9-9 in the tie-break right now. His head

:48:27.:48:32.

was turned the entire time! They are stuck and they have the finish which

:48:33.:48:37.

is sad because it is dark now. Not as dark as it was in the Rafael

:48:38.:48:42.

Nadal and Federer final. Not so sure, it is close. It is overcast.

:48:43.:48:50.

This is Craig Lee just crazy, there have been numerous set points and

:48:51.:48:54.

break points. One of these guys is going to be mighty upset -- this is

:48:55.:48:58.

crazy. If Tomas Berdych wins at committee wins the match. Serena is

:48:59.:49:03.

trying to match a record of Steffi Graf and Roger Federer is trying to

:49:04.:49:07.

set one of his own because if he wins Wimbledon for an eighth time,

:49:08.:49:11.

he has the outright record. John, you were watching him in action

:49:12.:49:15.

today. He was up against a big server with a big forehand, Steve

:49:16.:49:19.

Johnson. How did you think Federer looked? Better than he has looked

:49:20.:49:26.

the entire year. Steve Johnson has never been in a round of 16 of any

:49:27.:49:31.

Grand Slam. He was a bit overwhelmed and Roger was sharp and moving

:49:32.:49:35.

forward nicely. That was one of the shots of the day. He meant to do

:49:36.:49:41.

that. He was never really stretched. He has never been pressured so far

:49:42.:49:46.

in this tournament. So guess what? A lot left in the tank. In the last

:49:47.:49:54.

three rounds. Novak Djokovic losing, Federer's eyes have lit up white

:49:55.:50:01.

now. Because I have to tell you something, Novak Djokovic stopped

:50:02.:50:03.

him winning Grand Slams and now he thinks he doesn't have to deal with

:50:04.:50:07.

this guy. He was the winner in the end. Finished it with an ace and

:50:08.:50:13.

with that win, he equalled the record of Martina Navratilova of 306

:50:14.:50:17.

Grand Slam wins. The update from court three is that Jiri Vesely has

:50:18.:50:23.

won the tie-break so he will take it into a deciding set. This is the end

:50:24.:50:29.

of the tie-break. Will they play the best? Funnily enough, no, they are

:50:30.:50:33.

not! They will return tomorrow. That match will be added to the order of

:50:34.:50:39.

play. Unless there is heavy rain. Tomas Berdych is asking, why can we

:50:40.:50:44.

not play on centre? That would be a fair solution. He is going to ask.

:50:45.:50:50.

That is a good question. That is what the roof is for and it would be

:50:51.:50:53.

cool because the winner could then rest for tomorrow. While they are

:50:54.:50:59.

one, they might as well finish. I agree, it would be fantastic to play

:51:00.:51:03.

the third set. I have never seen Jiri Vesely more emotional and using

:51:04.:51:07.

the crowd to help. He is tricky on the grass. Berdych blew a lot of

:51:08.:51:12.

chances so he will be an angry man if this goes overnight. I wonder if

:51:13.:51:16.

they have got covers on Centre Court yet. I'm sure they can remove them.

:51:17.:51:22.

Yes, we will find a way to do that. They can play until half past ten.

:51:23.:51:28.

11 o'clock, I think. News on the other men in action today, this is

:51:29.:51:33.

Paddy. Sam Querrey, the American boy who

:51:34.:51:39.

brought down the King. How do you follow beating Novak Djokovic? By

:51:40.:51:46.

taking on Nicolas Mahut in the fourth round. Some might be lost in

:51:47.:51:51.

the euphoria, not quarry. He was measured, superbly so. It clips the

:51:52.:51:59.

line. It is like a bowling shot. Straight sets, his Wimbledon is

:52:00.:52:04.

about more than one match. Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori have

:52:05.:52:07.

history, not good for the Japanese man. Marin Cilic won the 2014 US

:52:08.:52:13.

Open final in straight sets and took the first-tier little more than

:52:14.:52:17.

quarter of an hour. What a point! Kei Nishikori was not right, injury

:52:18.:52:21.

disrupted his preparations for the tournament. The second set was not

:52:22.:52:26.

over when the fifth seed's Wimbledon ended in agony. Two Frenchmen who go

:52:27.:52:34.

back a long way that on Court One. Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfried

:52:35.:52:38.

Tsonga play together as children and this was a brief catch-up. Gasquet's

:52:39.:52:45.

back gave way in the first set. Much over, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knew what

:52:46.:52:49.

Gasquet was going through and he offered to share the burden.

:52:50.:52:53.

Bernhard Tomic show last made the quarterfinals five years ago but

:52:54.:52:57.

after wheezing the first set the Lucas Pouille, he seemed back on

:52:58.:53:03.

course. -- losing. He is something special. Leading 2-1 against a man

:53:04.:53:08.

who only won his taller match on grass lust week for the first time.

:53:09.:53:14.

Fought back to win in five for the first time -- tour match. Hopefully

:53:15.:53:17.

be all Asian trumps the exhaustion will stop it is easy to be daunted

:53:18.:53:23.

by playing big Milos Raonic and David Goffin did not seem bothered,

:53:24.:53:28.

storming to the first two sets of their match. Raonic is known for the

:53:29.:53:36.

thumping serves and beaming baselines and he can change the

:53:37.:53:40.

rhythm. And play the game in a minor key, winning the third and fourth

:53:41.:53:45.

sets. Maybe it is the John McEnroe influence because Raonic is growing

:53:46.:53:50.

on grass. He got a scare but he survived and thrived. After losing

:53:51.:53:54.

the final at Queen's, he has spoken of wanting a rematch with Andy

:53:55.:53:57.

Murray. Could that happen on Centre Court on Sunday?

:53:58.:54:02.

You could not stay to watch the entire match because you had to

:54:03.:54:05.

commentate on Andy Murray, which must have been interesting as you

:54:06.:54:08.

were following the score and saw he had gone two sets down. Murray and

:54:09.:54:13.

Nick Kyrgios was the most interesting match on paper but I

:54:14.:54:17.

must admit I was glancing at the monitor to see Raonic and I'm proud

:54:18.:54:23.

of him. David Goffin was in playing -- was playing incredible tennis and

:54:24.:54:28.

out hitting Raonic which was unexpected. Milos started to play

:54:29.:54:35.

the match on his terms and take it to David Goffin and get his match

:54:36.:54:39.

together. This is big because he has never come back from two sets down.

:54:40.:54:44.

That is H Mendis shot and big moment and he hit big backhand shot. That

:54:45.:54:50.

was the minute -- that was to win the match and that was the key. Come

:54:51.:54:57.

on, Milos, be happy. You did it, you are in the quarterfinals. That was a

:54:58.:55:02.

tough customer he played in David Goffin. Have you told him yet you

:55:03.:55:05.

are really proud of him? I have told him and hopefully he has more to go.

:55:06.:55:10.

I'm proud of Sam Querrey that he has turned his career around. Opening

:55:11.:55:15.

the door for other players including himself was top but Raonic and Sam

:55:16.:55:21.

Querrey in the quarterfinals. So often, you see a player pulling off

:55:22.:55:25.

a big upset and losing the next game. But he did not. Just a word on

:55:26.:55:30.

the two withdrawals from injury, Richard Gasquet and Kei Nishikori,

:55:31.:55:36.

such a shame. Kei Nishikori had a rib injury a couple of weeks ago and

:55:37.:55:40.

he thought it was better and it came up again. Richard Gasquet was a bad

:55:41.:55:46.

back. He has had a history of a bad back. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga played

:55:47.:55:58.

19-17 in the fifth. Maybe you could take some pain medication or

:55:59.:56:01.

something. It is over now and he can't go back to it! This is the

:56:02.:56:06.

draw. Next up for Sam Querrey, it is John's man, Milos Raonic. The match

:56:07.:56:14.

to be finished, Tomas Berdych against Jiri Vesely and confirmation

:56:15.:56:17.

that will not be completed on Centre Court, they will pick up tomorrow.

:56:18.:56:23.

Lucas Pouille goes through and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Andy

:56:24.:56:26.

Murray, what are your thoughts? It is a the Mendis opportunity for Sam

:56:27.:56:32.

Querrey and Milos. Federer's eyes lit up. And I think Marin Cilic is

:56:33.:56:38.

ready to make a move, he beat Roger Federer at the Open and he knows

:56:39.:56:43.

what it feels like to pick up that trophy. Lucas Pouille has never been
