the Winter Olympics. Yesterday

another set of medals were awarded

on a dramatic day here in

Pyeongchang, including gold for

Jamie Anderson in the woman

Slopestyle. Canada in the team

figure skating and the first medal

for Australia to claim silver in the

men's moguls. Team Canada are the

Olympic champions.

more gold medals on offer today. It

is over to the women's halfpipe

final were all eyes were on Chloe

Kim, who was the clear favourite.

This is Kelly's

fifth Olympics, can you believe

that?

She has a gold that she

claimed that the first time of

asking in Salt Lake City. She has

won bronze at the last boss Mike

Olympics, and she is constantly

asked when she is going to retire. A

question you might have some

sympathy with, Jenny.

She is only a

year older than I was when I was at

the Olympics. It is easy to remind

all the time of her age but if she

is riding at this high level, why

shouldn't be competing?

Signature frontside air, the

backside 540. A lot of travel down

the pipe. Huge one side ten. 1080 on

the third hit, that is huge, into

the switch frontside 720 then the

backflip on the pipe, with the tail

grab air. Kelly Clark has set a huge

high mark here in the woman's

halfpipe finals. The 34-year-old out

of Newport Rhode

of Newport Rhode Island,.

She has

come into this after having a bit of

a wobble yesterday. She would not

normally find herself dropping in at

the beginning of the finals in 11th

place at the moment. Coming into

this, she is at a disadvantage

having to drop near the start, but

she looks so much more solid than

she did yesterday. She came so high

out of the pipe on that massive

trick.

In 2016, she came out at the

US open in excruciating pain, came

third, then went straight for hip

surgery. Everyone was asking if this

was the precursor to retirement.

Here she is two years later at the

fifth Olympics scoring 76.2 five.

Next, Sena Tomita. The Japanese

rider has been going from strength

to strength, scoring a second in the

same competition where we saw Emily

Arthur take six. The Japanese focus

on amplitude. They have really

strong halfpipe programme. Just

settling herself.

Unit is that they

have all got their earphones on,

music is very important to a lot of

these girls. -- you notice that.

The

frontside 900. Into the backside

540. The frontside 720, just getting

the ball inside the top of the lip,

then the switch 720, then the

frontside 540, then straight air to

finish, lovely method. Great

amplitude on this. The most

technical trick of the run comes at

the top of the pipe.

If you do that

at the top it gives you a lot more

points.

65.25 moves into second

place just ahead of Mirabelle

Thovex. Now the 24-year-old Haruna

Matsumoto. She surprised a lot of

people yesterday. And some other

names from Japan who we expected to

see up here, but, no. Has started to

make headway in 2016, getting seven

at the test event here then a

second. The big frontside air, to

start. The backside 540. The

frontside 900.

The switch seven, out of the front

seven. Amplitude leads. And she

claims it. Oh! It is really hard.

These riders are really light, and

to get high up, you need a bit of

weight. If you haven't got it you

take a more direct line down the

pike to get speed up. By doing that

you then lose hits and it changes

the way that you do your tricks. It

is such a toss-up between

technicality, doing the tricks and

also getting amplitude. 70 points

for Haruna Matsumoto.

for Haruna Matsumoto. Now Liu Jiayu,

we have seen what she is capable of,

one of the most technical, stylish,

creative and higher ones that we

have seen.

And she does a lot of

these tricks at the top.

We will see

hopefully, her first run, her stock

run has asked which method and she

is dropping them backwards now, and

that is like riding with your left

hand. She does the hardest, most

stylish tricks for her first trick.

It is so hard to keep your heel

edge. This is a beautiful run. The

big frontside five landing nicely,

high into the transitions,

back-to-back fives, now, the front

seven, could have got it round a bit

more, but her hands or indy air, she

is happy. She looked so relax. The

close-up that you saw of the landing

of the frontside 720, the arms down

by her side, the body language said

it all. She was in control and she

had that run absolutely dialled in.

That is her stock trick that she put

down, absolutely fine.

She does not

seem nervous at all. The frontside

five of the first hit, and I think

that this 720 could become a 1080 by

the third run. What we have

essentially done here, we put all

the ingredients in a big stockpot,

and we are going to gently bring

them to the boil! Hopefully we will

have a piping hot stew by the end of

this final.

And the attention to

detail, she is getting the grabs and

holding them.

What is fascinating is

that these women have come from dues

programmes in China, then you have

them building slowly and taking

snowboarding. She's happy with that.

She is of South Korean descent.

Parents emigrated to the United

States. The youngest person ever to

win three X Games gold medals. And

she has won them consecutively.

Wouldn't you love to know what is

playing in her ear, now.

She is

without question the best halfpipe

rider in the world. Whether she can

put it together under pressure from

the Chinese rider Liu Jiayu is what

counts.

with the indie crap. Into a huge

she is ahead of the pack, but she is

amplitude the whole way down. That

is unreal.

This is a fascinating

bit, the frontside 1080. Kelly Clark

but at any third hit, Chloe Kim puts

it in the second hit. This is the

frontside 900 further down but out

of the frontside 1080 Shias the

switch 720. It lacked a bit of

amplitude. For the first time ever

at X Games two weeks ago we saw the

back-to-back 1080. That is somewhere

that Chloe Kim can go that nobody

else can.

And she has two more runs

to give the back-to-back tens ago.

The gauntlet has been laid down by

Chloe Kim. Can you catch me? That is

why she got 76 for the incredible

run for Kelly Clark, the judges

needed space to go, for Chloe Kim.

On the form that she has shown over

the last three years, it is almost

expected. There you have it, the

confirmation of first run schools.

That is a very big run from Arielle

Gold.

A huge run. That is a cat

amongst the pigeons run, right

there. With this at the top of the

pipe. She didn't quite get it round

but she held the grab for a long

time.

Her Chloe Kim did the 1080 on

the second hit. She has upped the

risk level. I don't think she agrees

with that. Her face drop.

Interesting. Where can Kelly Clark

go? She had a brilliant first run.

Really, really strong.

Did she have

time to process what score just came

in there for Arielle Gold? That may

have affected what she then takes on

from that, what the judges are

looking for, etc.

There were

certainly a couple of holes, and

under rotation on the 1080 could

have been a big part of it. That was

even bigger! Kelly Clark is going

stratospheric. She's got to put the

ten in here.

She makes it again.

Really nice. The speed has

completely gone, but she can

generate speed. The thing she's

really good at is pumping those

transitions.

She is back up to near

enough the two metre mark. She had

both hands off the wheel, and

dripped onto the tail for that last

one. I think that is the biggest

first hit we have seen, the 1080

frontside air on the first hit.

That is so satisfying, isn't

They definitely liked the amplitude

at the top. Queralt Castellet, no

doubt that this woman has the

ability to go stratospheric. Also

incredibly technical. Currently sat

in seventh place on 59.75. Lots of

work to do.

has squeaked it round. She was a

little bit lower than she would have

liked to have been because she

landed solo in the 1080.

as bogey. She has a great run in the

bag.

She is ten points ahead of

I wouldn't be fulled by

the smiles and waves, she is a

fierce competitor and I think she

will unveil just why she is the

Queen of ladies halfpipe at the

moment.

Are we going to see the ten?

Yes. Oh! Chloe Kim is human after

all. The first 1080 was lower. It

was lower. She wasn't carrying much

speed but even though she landed it

is a perfectly it wasn't enough

altitude on the third it to get the

1080 around.

If that had been landed

there was no one else with the

back-to-back tens and that would've

closed the door on the gold but now

it is still open.

Gold has a 1080 just outside the

medals. All four of the American

team are in and the first of them to

drop is Arielle Gold. She landed a

brilliant run on her second run. Can

she now step it up and tidy it up

and make it as big and clean as it

is possible to get? If she can, it

could push Chloe Kim.

She is channelling her

errant she lands a bit flat and it

kills the speed. Again a bit flat

How is she still standing up?

How does she come back from

losing that speed and then she just

drives back into it.

She is without

a shadow of a

a shadow of a doubt magic at finding

speed in a halfpipe. She can find it

from nowhere. If you looped -- if I

landed flat like that you have

instant pins and needles in your

feet but she somehow manages to keep

the speed. Every time she landed lie

didn't think she could get massive

but she did. A big backside by that

you spoke about it, she is holding

the grabs here.

the way around. Check this, it is

the only thing I would say something

about there, she does grab it a

little bit. Look at the height. A

It is a slight

improvement the Kelly Clark, but it

is not enough to overhaul Arielle

Gold. She remains in bronze medal

position and an agonising wait now

for Arielle Gold because we have ten

I feel a bit bad for Kelly

Clark. She was so close. But she has

more medals and more trophies than

anyone else. Give-macro she should

be proud of that. In the

snowboarding, not just women's

snowboarding. There was no one else

even in professional snowboarding

now who rides at this level who was

riding in Salt Lake City in 2002. 16

years ago. That is how long she has

been at the top of her game.

Thovex is going for this. She has

backed off.

Straightaway you can see

the difference in amplitude from the

run before.

You really can.

An

interesting choice of run. She used

that trick at the very top of her

run before. Was she going for a

switch backside five? She looked

like she was coming round for a

second then. She used it and then

inverted that run. It was the other

way around on the run first time

that's also highly for her. I cannot

see how this is going to...

Beautiful style. You can see it

definitely runs in the family. You

have never come across Candi Kovacs

before type it in and it will be a

display of the best free skiing that

is available in the world. This is

his

his sister,. The Thovex dynasty is

pretty impressive. It is an

improvement on the first run score

but she doesn't change position and

you remains in eighth place. The

pressure now comes back up to the

top of the pipe and she has been so

relaxed all day, Liu Jiayu of China.

Her nickname is birdie. Such a

relaxed rider. She has been taking

cues from some of the most creative

riders in snowboarding, Danny Davis

being one of them, and she opens up

this beautiful switch method, one of

the hardest tricks.

that she is the 2018 women's

snowboard halfpipe gold medallist.

Liu Jiayu knows that she is the

silver medallist.

board. You need to have the 1080

went for both of those and got them

just to make the point. She knows

she has already won but look what

she can do. I am so proud of this

standard of writing.

terrible when hangry so we are fully

not just the Americans in the crowd,

the South Koreans, her lineage and

has written here and claimed gold

for two nations. Confirmation of the

anti-stomach into my third run, and

All of the girls put

their hearts into choosing the run

and I thought, I would just enjoy

it. And I did. I did enjoy it and I

got a silver medal for China, and it

is an honour for me and my country.

It was a really good showcase

women's snowboarding and you are

going home with a silver medal.

Where do you go here? Wow, that was

an amazing day. I was lucky to be

there. And all my family were here

to support me and all of my friends

here and back in China to support me

as well so I am so lucky.

I'm happy for my team-mate, Arielle

Gold, getting third. She had a rough

time in Sochi and this was what she

needed.

I'm so happy that we did it

together. And we're going to get

home wearing medals.

After the

disappointment of the women

Slopestyle final yesterday it was

great to see some riding today that

showcased the level of women's

snowboarding.

Jenny, focused with a

medals. Before I do, I have to give

an ageing mention -- a mention to

the amazing Kelly Clark who finished

fourth in what is probably a fifth

and final Olympics and she has been

a pioneer of women's halfpipe

riding. An inspiration to so many

women including Arielle Gold, who

came in bronze today.

She persevered

with that 1080 and landed at the

third and final one. Liu Jiayu, the

Chinese, fantastic final run but

neither of them could hold a candle

to Chloe Kim.

She's on another

level. She came as good as Shaun

White. With all that expectation and

pressure from the US and from her

new-found fans here in Korea, the

pressure was on the bus she won at a

canter. And with that final victory

run through the pipe she unveiled

the back-to-back pens, proving just

why she is the Queen of women's

halfpipe snowboarding. -- the

back-to-back tens.

We are moving

into a new era of women's halfpipe,

Chloe Kim, take a bow. We will find

out how the men get on tomorrow, can

Shaun White reclaim his crown?

skiing sprint. This event dominated,

as ever, by the Norwegians. Rob

The reigning champion from Italy,

Federico Pellegrino. There is the

big Italian. Very impressive in

this, his less favoured style.

is Klaebo. A massive response from

the Norwegian crowd to Teodor

Peterson. He got a silver, remember,

four years ago.

Bolshunov who took the under 23

silver, last year. Paal Golberg,

have to work really hard to come

through his quarterfinal.

Alexander Panzhinskiy, took silver

medal in Vancouver. The first

semifinal in the men's classic

cross-country. This is absolutely

loaded, this race. It is more than

good enough to be a final in its own

right. Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo

wearing two, alongside Alexander

Bolshunov, are very talented young

athletes from Russia, and the world

champion at the moment, Pellegrino,

in the distinctive blue of Italy,

alongside the speedy Teodor

Peterson. What a start this is for

Bolshunov. We know that Klaebo likes

to dominate from start to finish.

Bolshunov has had a great start. We

forget what a great young talent he

is. We forget that he's only as

well. In any other circumstantially

-- he would be the person that we

were all talking about what we're

talking about Klaebo this year. He

would prefer to be in first place

but he will not panic. You can get

the top of this run and turn round

and will be looking manoeuvre

himself back to the fun. Bolshunov

is doing a great job at the moment

to stay in the lead.

Giving himself

an opportunity as Pellegrino, the

world champion moves ahead of

Peterson. I wonder whether Bolshunov

will be aware that this type of Hill

plays to the strengths of Klaebo,

which is why he's trying to get

himself in a good, clear position

ahead of the inevitable attack from

the Norwegian Apple come from the

right-hand side of the Russian.

There goes Klaebo. There he goes. I

think that Klaebo will be putting on

the jets at the top of the hill. Try

to get in front, so that he has the

lead at the top of the hill. And

again, just able to put a bit of

space between himself and the rest

of the field. Pellegrino and

Bolshunov need to stay with them

when they come over the top but with

Klaebo in that front position,

that's way likes best, and just

fantastic as he comes over the top

of the hill. Brilliant acceleration

from the Norwegian. Allegri no

climbs a beautifully to move up from

third or fourth in to move up from

third or fourth into clear second

place.

He had nothing on Klaebo as

he came over the top. The leader was

suddenly Bolshunov, the early leader

is coming under real pressure.

trouble with having someone like

Klaebo around is people think, what

can we do to beat him, so Bolshunov

has tried to lead on the front, but

he has paid for it now because he

has tired. Pellegrino is looking

fantastic.

impressed with Pellegrino today. We

think of him as a skate specialist

and we don't expect much from him as

classic. Unlike the way that he is

skiing. Looking very smooth and

strong these uphill parts of the

course, which is very important to

get yourself in place for the

finishing sprint.

Pellegrino will be joining him in

that Klaebo or Pellegrino you would

fancy would be the favourites above

the new dominant force in cross

accounts? This is the cross-country

sprint final for men. Watch the

fireworks fly. Klaebo is wearing two

and Pellegrino is of defending world

champion. He is wearing nine. Look

at the outside, Bolshunov trying to

put Klaebo under pressure. There he

is, the man on who an nation

expects. Can Klaebo deliver?

close it back again. Elephantastic

ski in the second semifinal and he

made up the bitter ground here and I

am expecting Klaebo to do the same

as it did in the semi and I think it

will put on the Jets any time now.

He goes to the right of Bolshunov

and he gets a clear lane so he can

push forward and get in front.

He is

driving and pushing. He has got the

weight of the nation on his

shoulders. He is carrying that

favourite tag, but at the moment he

is living up to the hype. He has got

his own unique style and he is

streaking away from a world class

field now on a brutal incline and he

has made it look easy. Bolshunov

this class and in second place at

the world champion, Pellegrino, is

in third but surely this is now

Klaebo 's to take. He did the

monstrous climb in style. Yellow

across the top of the hill.

He was

tight at the bottom and it didn't

look like a sure thing but at the

top of the field he has clear Skase

-- space between man he could cruise

home now but I think he will keep on

pushing figures around the corner so

he can guarantee himself a

gold-medal.

and he is miles clear. You do not

see sprint races won by this margin.

Bolshunov is winning the battle for

silver at the moment but Pellegrino

is closing him down. It is a

glittering and glorious night for

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo who lives

up to all the hype and expectation.

A new star is born tonight here in

gold chain. Pellegrino lunging for

the line to try and steal the silver

medal from Bolshunov. That was the

sideshow. The main attraction was

the star man delivering under the

most immense pressure with the

nominal style and grace. Johannes

Hoesflot Klaebo, remember the name,

you saw his first Winter Olympic

We

said we would see as star in the

making and he lived up to the hype.

It was unbelievable. Still waiting

to find out who got the silver and

bronze. Pellegrino has just been

confirmed as having the silver

medal, what an amazing ski from him.

It was by eight hundredths of a

second but Klaebo was already easing

up at the line. That is incredible

from a 21-year-old. Bearing in mind

just how much hype there would have

been around that race in Norway, and

he would have known that. He is on

social media and he knows the

questions he has been getting in

press conferences in the last 1.5

weeks here and the last 1.5 months

back in Norway, it was absolutely

phenomenal. Let us focus on the

brilliant lunch for the line from

Pellegrino. Making that huge frame

count. Two 100th of a second and he

had longer legs, it doesn't matter

how he did it, it was silver for him

and bronze for Bolshunov.

Brilliant

ski from Pellegrino. We shouldn't

take anything away from the other

two guys on the podium because they

had fantastic skis. Pellegrino will

find this really sweet. As we said

earlier, we discount in classic but

to come to take a tonight, he will

not care about all of those other

results. It was a great final,

absolutely brilliant.

The manner of

that victory reminds me of Usain

Bolt thumping his chest in 2008

unexpectedly and brilliantly winning

the first of his story Olympic 100

metre titles. A different surface, a

different man, the same impact. That

was absolutely huge from the

Norwegian. Races over that distance

are never won by that margin, that

was immense.

He has the confidence

and belief in himself and he came

here to win and anything less than a

victory, and a resounding victory,

that was what he was looking for. It

is just phenomenal. As you say, you

do not see people tap at the field

like that and to have metres of

space and be able to cruise across

the line with 50 metres to go is

just unheard of.

It was a privilege

to witness that race. Pellegrino

soaking up the adulation of the

crowd. It has been a really good

atmosphere and so many Norwegians,

Italians Swedes and Finns and even a

South Korean volunteers are getting

in on the action. Anyone there to

die is being treated to a really

great night of racing. Johannes

Hoesflot Klaebo is the Winter

Olympics sprint champion and he did

it in style. The world champion,

Pellegrino in second and Bolshunov

takes the bronze.
