pedigree, but nothing last forever, and after losing to them in a cup

final two years ago, Bristol Academy very sunny day in Doncaster, the

home of Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Rovers Belles. It has been

a long journey for the Arsenal and Bristol teams. The teams have played

in 17 cup finals between them. Faye White has played in ten and 19 of

them. We have Casey Stoney and Sue Smith also. Sue, this is your patch.

You have been out with an injury. Welcome back. And you came back and

miss that gold... Fax for robbing that in! It is a fantastic stadium.

What a lovely day for football and it is great for me to be back

playing. I have been out for 14 or 15 months and that is a long time so

to be back playing, and you see the two teams today, the pitch is in

fantastic condition, so it is all set for a good game. Fame act you

played in ten of these occasions and plenty more besides so you know the

mentality of what it is like coming to these games. Had you control the

nerves? Some players have very different techniques. I used to put

on music, some like to have fun, have a laugh... Want you come out to

the warmup and you get a touch of the ball, you start feeling how you

feel. It is something which Bristol, I think, will have to

content with. Some of the girls had experienced two years ago when they

played in the final. Arsenal have a lot of experience from those finals.

A lot of them have experienced this occasion. It is just about getting a

good first touch and easing yourself into the game. And as well as having

played for Arsenal, you have worked with the club. What is the feeling

in the camp this week? In Iraq they come off a feud varied results. They

know they have been playing well. -- they have come of varied results.

They know they have been playing well but it is just making the most

of chances. They did not play in last year's final so they really

wanted to make amends this year. They beat Liverpool in the

semi-final. They wanted to come and write the things that went wrong

last season. Your Lincoln city side laid against Bristol in the

semifinals, lost 2-0 to them. What do you make of their side? We were

well beaten on that day. They brought their game to us, scored two

good goals. One player is not playing and she causes a lot of

problems. But they have pace on both wings. They have players who can

hurt and players who can play. Bristol are one of the most in

proved -- improved sides. They rot off to a flying start in this

campaign, winning all three matches so far. Their goalkeeper is Siobhan

Chamberlain and we went to see her. There has been huge progress. When I

was here before we did not get big crowds. The standard of football was

not as good. The league in general was not as competitive. The way we

are going has grown over the past six or seven years. It has been

huge. We are 100% unbeaten at the moment. We beat Doncaster at the key

moment in the first round of the FA Cup. That was our target when we

played them. We are here at the start -- want to be here at the end

as well. We had tough games against Everton and Lincoln on the way

there. Bristol lost in the 2011 cup final. What do you remember of that

game? It was a massive experience. We had quite an inexperienced squad.

Some people played maybe more the occasion than the game. We have kept

a lot of those players together so hopefully now we have a lot of

experience behind us. Everyone always expects Arsenal to win and

historically, they do. They have been very successful, that if you

are going to play Arsenal at any time you want to play them now. They

lost 4-0 to Liverpool at the emirates which was a shock for

everyone. We know they are beatable. We will play our best. We can beat

them. Everyone knows their whole team. They form of international

experience. But it is about us focusing on our own game and knowing

how we can beat them. What are your strengths? I cannot give that away

or we will not win! Laura and Natalia have been excellent. They

will be on fire in the cup final. How much of a difference have they

made? Laura having another Spanish player here has really helped her

and she has grown into the squad. She has another role because she is

Natalia's translator. DUP them complaining much about the weather?

-- do you hear them complaining? Laura's first week she was not

pleased. But they have got used to it. You were one of the first

players to get a central contract from the FA. How much did that help

your career? It helps us to have more time training but we have to

supplement that with work on top. Bristol gave me a job as well,

teaching at the college. They are flexible in giving me time. Getting

to the FA Cup final was art target and we have achieved that. If we can

get a good crowd we can hopefully get everyone supporting as instead

of Arsenal. We are going to win. you think she was convinced? They

haven't won anything yet. They are quite a young side. The year they

were signed as Bristol Rovers... How do they get around the fact that

they have yet to cross the finishing line? It is a big job for the

manager and support staff to get our confidence up. They have nothing to

lose and sometimes that is the best position to be in. The pressure will

be on Arsenal. I think they will be dangerous. It is a great start to

the season by Bristol, winning all three matches. Are you surprised

they have come good so soon? they are a promising young team.

They have had some great additions to the team. The last two years they

have had that experience and been able to compete. In previous games

against Arsenal they have made it really tough for them. I think this

will be a really tight game and like Casey said, they have nothing to

lose. They could he be winners for this game. It is important to come

in with that mentality. I am really looking forward to it. But there is

no del Rio. That is a big blow for them. She is fit but on the bench.

She is really good at creating chances and making something happen.

It will be the likes of Yorston who will need to make sure that is not

in their mind when they walk out onto the pitch. That girl that has

come in now, they have an opportunity to play in the cup final

so they have to grab it. They know that they can bring her on and she

could potentially make a difference and change something. She can play

either flank, down the middle, and that is really important. Quite a

good mental boost for Bristol. Bristol are top of the league and

Arsenal are seventh, in usual for them. It has been announced there

will be two divisions net season so there will be promotion and

in there. There will be an opportunity for them to win

promotion the following year. The supporters here at Doncaster are

and we thought we deserved a place. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Now we have to be as professional as we can on the pitch and show

everybody what we are about. We are about that professional attitude and

the fans have been really into. They have made petitions and banners. It

shows how far up football has come, the fact that they are so supportive

and there is so much ration. Also they had to apply to the FA based on

the criteria, such as marketing and the type of stuff they could

employ, so it was not just about history. They will find out in the

next few weeks. Let's have a little word now with the Bristol manager,

Mark Sampson, who has been talking to our man, Damien Johnson in the

tunnel I heard of this game. Underdogs today. How do you stop

Arsenal? We are underdogs. We have been all our lives. It is no shock

to us to be in that position but it has served us well so far. Today we

have to make sure we perform to a level that makes us come back.

of your key players, Laura del Rio, carrying an injury for some time.

She is on the bench. Yes, she has been carrying a hamstring injury but

she is fit for today. We felt we wanted to make the changes. We have

stuck to the team that finished and played the majority of that last

game at law is available from the bench. You have written to the

fans. What was the message to them? We do it for every big game. We are

a real family for all club. I hope they understand the message because

the message is that we should be ourselves, leave nothing to chance

and enjoy the day. Good luck. So no Laura del Rio from the start

league in Spain. How much has she impressed you? I think in seven

as well. If they give free kicks around the box that could be

something that... Good to see that Bristol... I tell you what, I can't

hear myself think in here. It is so noisy. But the Bristol players have

been getting together and thinking a little song this week, because it is

the true tradition of the FA Cup that we need to have an FA Cup final

will be having a look at Arsenal now. Their manager only took over in

February but already she has a chance of silverware.

Is the occasion getting to you? Were you use it as a positive? Absolutely

not. These are the types of games that you want to be involved in,

whether URA player, supporter, coach or manager. Really excited. Have you

spoken to the team about using this sense of occasion? I think so. At

Arsenal, the expectations are really high but there is no one more

equipped than the girls that are in that dressing room. Sometimes you

have to play it down a little bit. We are trying to concentrate on

playing football. Coming in as favourites though. Arguably. I think

Bristol are top of the table and they have got off to a flyer in the

league but perhaps we are not as hot favourites as we normally are. As I

say, cup finals are different. We need to be at our very best to get a

result. You have been struggling in the league. Are you feeling

pressure? Not at all. We have only played two games. Everyone else is

interpreting it as a bad season for us but we don't think that. There is

still lots of evidence there that we have been playing particularly

well. Arsenal have an illustrious history in this competition. Sub

into live up to. Yes but that is the beauty of football. Everyone wants

to be a winner. The team are no different.

A big day for Shelley Kerr. The first chance to win some silverware

with Arsenal. But she has plenty of experience in the team. They still

have Rachel Yankey, over 100 England caps. And then there is the small

matter of Kim Little, one of the key players in that team. She is the

the sport. How would you sell it to someone who's never watched women's

football? People always compare it to the men's game. I think to sort

of not do that because the men's game is obviously a lot faster. But

just to see it as its own sport. That is what more and more people

are doing now. The winner of the women's player of the year award for

2013 is Kim Little. It was a great night. The team had been nominated

and it was great for it to be a player's player of the year award.

All your fellow players voting makes it even more special and for it to

be the first one, it was a great achievement for me to win it

personally. It was a great evening to be a part of. Another landmark

was representing Team GB at last year 's Olympics. Yes, for there to

be women's football at the Olympics was great and for there to be a

Great Britain team was even more special. It was such a great

occasion. That was an incredible experience.

Still when I think about it now, to win at Wembley and to play for

silverware in front of all those people, just to be involved in the

London Olympics was so special. are 22. Do you feel there is extra

pressure on you now? I don't really feel pressure that much. I have

gained so much experience from playing in the Olympics and playing

for Scotland as well. Domestically, not the best start to the season. A

defeat to Liverpool in your first match. How tough was about to take?

I didn't even realise that but to go unbeaten for that long, it was

disappointing to lose the first home game. We need to bounce back from

that. You have had a change of manager at Arsenal. What is it like

working under Shelley Kerr. --? Training is a bit different from

what it was before. It will be eight bit more specific in terms of what

we work on each session. She has brought a lot of new things and

freshness to the club which I think will be great for the club. It is

the club 's 13th FA Cup final. What is the competition mean to the

players? The FA Cup is a great occasion. I have been lucky enough

to be involved in my fourth one, I think this is. It was incredible to

score in my first one. It will be a great game to watch for the neutral.

Both teams have great attacking players. We have plenty of

experience of playing in finals and that kind of occasion. Hopefully we

can use that to our advantage. a key player Kim Little is. She is

only 22 years of age but she already has 81 caps for Scotland. She will

have aired at 300 by the time she finishes. -- about 300.

She scored in a cup final a couple of years ago. Could she be the

difference today? Definitely. Every game she plays in, she has that

potential and ability to change the game. Even when I was a senior

player, I would look to her to create something because she is that

good. She is the player of the year. I think the team see her as the one

to stop. She has been getting frustrating and wanting to create

more in recent games but they know how to defend against her. She will

have two adapter game and work harder to find space on the ball

because a lot of the other team managers will single her out. They

might put a couple of players on her. She is a player that can bounce

out of a couple of challenges but she just needs to know when she is

going to have to give it off to other players to allow them to play

rather than always trying to make that chance happen. How much has she

learned from Kelly Smith? I think being in Team GB last year was a

great excitement for me as a fan because it was a chance to see them

at international level on the pitch together. Their understanding on the

pitch is fantastic. They see the passes that they want to make. Kelly

has loads of experience that she can pass on to all of the players.

was quite a shock on the opening day of the season. We are so used to

Arsenal winning. There was a really good crowd and they went and lost to

Liverpool. Liverpool have come bottom of the league for the last

couple of years. They are a different proposition this year.

Yes, I thought it was a mistake. You just don't see that against Arsenal.

It is a bigger pitch. Liverpool have invested a lot of money in the

women's game. I think it is fantastic. The players up training

every day and they are playing it on a professional basis this year. They

will be contenders this year. will be fascinating to see who wins

the day. Arsenal's dominance over the last decade has been absolutely

phenomenal. People always say to me, Arsenal and who in the FA Cup final?

Last year, they were not in it. Look at this. They won the quadruple in

2007. Yes, they do dominate but if there is a good time to play

Arsenal, it could be now. They have not been as consistent as normal.

They have been beaten. Liverpool beat them. That has got to give

Bristol a little bit of belief. I have watched Arsenal a few times on

the other hand and they have created so many chances. It is that final

bit of clinical finishing. If they get that today, the floodgates could

open. So from the neutrals point of view, not an early for Arsenal.

Bristol will want to keep it tight. The longer the game goes on, the

more belief that Bristol will have. It usually at this stage we pick out

ones to watch, people that people do not know about, but with Arsenal,

who do you pick? There are so many of them. People who watch the

Olympics will know them. Steph Hooton, what about her? She has the

ability to school goals from long range and open up defences. She will

be a defender to watch today. midday -- Gemma Davison has placed a

burn. Yes, she for me will be the difference today. She is very direct

and can dribble. For me personally, she is one of the best wingers that

I have ever had to play against. She is absolutely incredible. I am a

massive fan. Are you surprised that Gemma Davison has not had more of a

login with the England squad? because she did perform well early

on. She went off to America and learned a lot when she went to

America and she has come back and even better player. She can make

things happen. If the game is quite dull, she will look to the two --

they will look to her to create things. She's fantastic. Final

thoughts on who you think you will win this game? I think it will go to

extra time. The weather will take its toll but I do think it will go

to extra time. I always sit on the fence. But I do honestly feel that

Bristol have got a very good chance this year. They just need to believe

in themselves. They have experienced it and now they can take all that

out, the nerves should be gone. It will be really tight. Both teams

like to play football. If Arsenal score early, I fear for Bristol but

I am sitting on the fence. I don't know why I bothered asking you.

Bristol have some very good young players. It will be interesting to

see how those young players cope on the big occasion. I think it is a

massive test for them but I don't think they will feel anything. It is

a good test. Young players are fearless and they are energetic and

they will want to go out and prove themselves. Arsenal lost in the

semi-final last year. It was against Chelsea. Arsenal had most of the

play but Chelsea's goalkeeper, now at Liverpool, was absolutely

outstanding. Will that spurred them on today? Yes, the girls have been

saying all week that they remember that loss. That will spur them on.

In a few minutes, they will walk past the trophy and just like

Bristol they want to be lifting it. There is so much expectation.

a young side for Bristol but they do have some experience. Yorston, and

the goalkeeper, Siobhan Chamberlain. Yes, they have the experience and

the youth. They have a nice balance. The teams are in the tunnel. This is

it. It is the 2013 FA women's cup final. It is Bristol Academy against

biggest day in the year in the English women's football season. For

those players in the tunnel, they are in the shade for the moment. But

they will be certainly getting very tense as we come towards kick-off.

2013 has already seen Swansea and Wigan surprisingly carry off the

silverware in the men's domestic cup competitions but it would be an ever

bigger shock if Bristol Academy win this. It might even signal the end

of an era. In their 26 year history, Arsenal have dominated the

sport. 38 trophies, 11 FA cups. Six in the last nine years. And Bristol

walking out onto the field. They are top of the fledgeling league table

but the biggest thing they have ever one is the Premier league trophy.

Plenty of experience. Bristol have an average age of 24. They admit

they were too inexperienced when Arsenal beat them in the final two

years ago. They have a great following appear. The Bristol

supporters have really added colour to the occasion. Nine of the Arsenal

team today played in the final a couple of years ago. Only five of

of these FA Cup finals. She will be one that a lot of the younger

players look up to. She is quick and effective. A shot of the Bristol

coach, Mark Sampson. He has worked with the Swansea Academy. Big links

between Swansea and Bristol. The centre backs here today are aged 21

and 19. Yes, but when you are younger, you do not have any fear.

But believe me this is a big stage. If the first five or ten minutes go

well, as a young player, it is all yours, but if they do not... They do

with Arsenal. Shelley Kerr will just come in and keep doing what they

sports nutrition and she works on the physical side of the game. Not

only with the Bristol Academy girls but also with the other clubs

associated with Mark Sampson's side and the college. There is an

experienced goalkeeper. It just gives Bristol that little bit of

positivity. She just misjudged it. But they get themselves a corner out

of it. That is not something you would normally see her do. The kit

is very similar. I am surprised she is allowed to wear that colour. But

she is about ten inches taller than everybody else, that is how you spot

her. 26 trophies she has won as an Arsenal player. And the other thing

is that throughout the majority of the season, she has not actually had

that much to do. Lucy Staniforth plays number 27 in memory of her

brother who died tragically young. Some of you may remember her father

Gordon also playing. They can break from here, Arsenal. Most of these

Arsenal players are internationals. Scott to the dead ball line. Chased

all the way. Good covering in the end. But it is a corner to Arsenal.

Arsenal have good players all over the pitch but she is one of the best

fullbacks in the world. She is world-class. She is really effective

on the attacking line. BT, possibly it away. Staniforth. A shot on the

half turn. It is a good effort as well. Siobhan Chamberlain had to

push it over. Yes, that is good covering by the goalkeeper. She will

have to be at her best it Bristol are to get this back. The next ten

minutes are absolutely vital for this cup final. Siobhan Chamberlain

Arsenal head. And you can see where they are coming from. Bristol have

manager will have players that she wants to maybe bring in. Players

that she thinks are better than others. You don't know. And to fit

in with something that quite a lot of these players are used to takes a

lot of doing. But no doubt, they have the quality. We have not even

spoken about Kim Little. She is very effective on the ball. I think a new

manager may cause just a little bit of a wobble but hopefully for her,

she comes in and continues to do what they have been doing over the

save. Both centre halves for Bristol are looking at the assistant referee

final third. You do not want to bring it away for Bristol. She

scored in that game last week. Henderson has not really got into

the game. She has been injured. She may have been a little unsure coming

into this game. That is a great save. She was onside. Yes, she is.

Yes, that is inviting trouble. It was a great effort and a great save.

But she could have taken a touch to the side before easily slotting at

home. Definitely on the side. has scored seven goals this season.

I saw a game against Lincoln recently where she had a hatful of

chances. Arsenal created a lot of chances in games. -- Arsenal created

players. They feared when she went down against Lincoln, it was on the

28th of April, that she had broken her leg. The fact that she came back

She has a UEFA pro licence. Different sort of a character to

Laura Harvey who she replaced and also the man who created this

Arsenal legend and retired in 2009, still very much involved as general

manager. Yes, Shelley Kerr is an excellent coach. Jennifer Beattie

was looking for the runthrough. it is difficult ticking over from

someone who has won everything in the game. -- taking over. It is

difficult however good a coach you Little is unhappy. She has not been

on the ball much. Arsenal usually pay through the -- play through her.

Beattie. She is playing virtually everywhere for Arsenal, Jennifer

Beattie. Yes, you are always valuable to 18 when you can play in

any position. Bristol were slow again in covering across and

preventing the shot getting away. They need a bit more urgency in

their defending. There is not enough pressure on the ball. That is

basically a free shot on goal. They have to make it difficult for her to

get that shot off. They really don't want to concede again. I keep saying

that but that is the way it is going. If they can score the next

goal, all of a sudden, we have a game on. If Arsenal score again, you

do fear for Bristol. This is a chance for Nikki Watts to get in

behind. It is a corner for Bristol Academy. They have had a couple of

these now and they have not done enough with them. Jemma Rose, coming

forward. Jaz Matthews. There is Rose on the edge of the penalty area.

have the stars of today coaching them. Aspirations to get where they

didn't happen. They have gradually got their way back into it. I think

the game is a little bit more free-flowing and could go either

way. How does this compare against the Bristol side that played against

you in the semifinals? I think they are giving Arsenal too much time.

They are giving them too much time with the ball on their feet -- at

their feet. Arsenal are delivering crosses and causing problems from

wide areas. It is a brave decision to go for- 4-2. They need to press

the ball and stop Arsenal playing. They are asking too much of their

wide midfielders. They have two travel great distances to press the

fullbacks. I think he might change it at half-time. Even if he plays a

front three, the centre forward can take care of the centre halves. They

will have players in attack when they go forward and they don't have

that at the moment. We did say in the build-up that Bristol do not

want to concede early on. This happened inside 90 seconds. Rachel

Yankey with the ball. And we saw the Yankey can do. She has acres of

space. That run into the box is fantastic and what a pinpoint cross

by Rachel Yankey and a fantastic finish. But Ellen White, you don't

actually realise, that she makes that run across the defender. She

just dealing with the occasion. Concealing -- conceding possession

on your throw, it is asking a lot of the midfielders to deal with the

Arsenal three. The movement is so good. Constantly chasing at the

moment. They are trying to track runners. I have got to admit, I

think the centre halves could communicate better. And that will

make it easier for the distances they have to run them. I am hoping

they will come out, Bristol. If they have a bit of confidence, they can

come out in the second half. Bristol went extremely close from a Yorston

corner kick. Their deliveries have not been very good. Their deliveries

from set pieces are usually so much better than they are doing today.

But that has hit the post. She will be disappointed. I think she was not

expecting that. Kim Little probably would like to have done a little bit

better there. But that was a chance. More missed opportunities for Ellen

White. She is a decent striker of the ball. Siobhan Chamberlain has

been a key player in the first half. She has kept her team in it with a

couple of good saves. But Ellen White will work really hard across

the front line. She is a poacher Angie often tries to nick the goal

that you do not expect her to school -- score. She just gets a little

turn off and you can see the movement as well. She is always

moving and always knowing that she will get a good delivery. Ellen

White was unfortunate. I think it was a great save from Siobhan

her side. A lot of them are very young. Some it is their first cup

final. Some it is their second. need Corinne Yorston as well. They

are the players that the young players will look to two give them

confidence. I have seen Bristol come back into the game. They seem to

have that work ethic, to keep at it. And they do not change the way they

play. They like to keep the ball and they will carry on doing that.

long until you have to announce your squad for Euro 2013. How close are

you? Not that close at the moment. We have had a feud injuries. A lot

of players waterline but on the 10th of June we will present a long squad

to UEFA. On the 17th of June we will narrow it down to the final 23.

There is still time for players to perform and hopefully we will have a

fit and healthy 23 players. At this stage, we could be looking at

surprises? I think the nature of the game and the fact that we are just

into the W SL season means that we have had some injury scares already.

Fingers crossed everybody stays fit and healthy. Everybody is talking a

lot about German foot or at the moment. Looking ahead to the euro

is, how dangerous are the Germans? There cannot be ignored. They will

want to amend for the World Cup and not being part of the Olympics. For

Euro 2013 it will be tough. The fact that we are there, hopefully the

players will remain fit and healthy. I am hoping it will be a great sum

Stoney, to tell us how scared you are of France, Spain and Russia will

stop how will England do? It will be tough. There are three tough teams

in the group. It will come down to playing well in each game. We will

not look ahead. I think Faye nicked the draw goal that took us to the

are a great side. We need to focus on every game as it comes. Every

by Italy and then we managed to get to the final, so anything can

games there is a massive focus, and then you can look at the France

situation. England are definitely capable to get out of the group.

European Championships. She is an international team-mate of some

standing with a couple of the Arsenal girls from the England and

the 17 days. They finished fourth in expecting Nobbs and Kim Little to be

It always seems to be Arsenal Ladies. A deserved 3-0 victory

today. Was it the winning mentality, Faye White, that saw them through?

Yes, when you look around the changing room and see such

experienced players and Olympians, if it is not going well, a soup or

start scoring so early just settle the nerves, but I do not think that

would have been a problem anyway. Having that experience of winning

and knowing how to turn things around, or when people are doubting

you, after the 4-0 loss against Liverpool, you come out and perform

like that without confidence and belief. Let's have a look at how

Arsenal won the FA Cup today. We saw questions and answers on Monday

night's preview show between Siobhan Chamberlain and Steph Houghton. We

knew that Houghton wanted to beat her but we did not expect it to be

defend against but you have to know where the runners are and you have

and we all said that if Laura Del Rio had been fit, could it have been

a different game? We saw the 15 minutes that she played that she did

created a lot of things. I don't know. An experience they will learn

from? Definitely. It just shows that Arsenal are still the team to be

done they are not going anywhere. think that just about sums it up.
