Good evening. Coming up on tonight's programme:

A 30 % drop in two years, but is Guernsey really safer? Plus: Why we

will finally see the hidden treasures onboard a 300-year-old

shipwreck. And the islander preparing to shine

on the international sporting stage There has been a significant drop

in crime in Guernsey. That is at least according to the latest

figures from Guernsey Police. They show a fall of almost 30 % in

reported crimes over the last two years. But do the figures tell the

full story? A criminal damage, shoplifting and

burglary, all crimes which, according to the latest figures,

are happening less in Guernsey. Last year more than two dozen --

less than two dozen crimes were reported. That is a 29 % drop on

2009. We are focusing on disrupting and detecting criminality. We are

dealing with the repeat offenders and are giving support to repeat

victims and are working too hard and some of the consequences.

statistics are going in the right direction, but what needs to happen

now to make sure this continues? There is a huge amount of work to

do. I would like to increase detection rates and I would like to

see further reductions in crime. The figures are positive but this

is just a snapshot and it will take a few years to get the full picture.

BBC Guernsey tomorrow morning just after 8:00am. Jersey is to follow

Guernsey by adding new pictures onto a cigarette packets. Some of

the images we will show you will be quite graphic. Some retailers can

only show packets with pictures like this, with people with rotting

teeth and people having open-heart surgery. Guernsey's Director of

Public Health is now urging hotels and businesses to check their water

systems. Chlorinated water was a flushed through remaining areas of

the Princess Elizabeth Hospital over the weekend after unacceptable

levels of bacteria were found. There is no need for women who have

had a breast enlargement using the controversial PIP implants to rush

and get them removed. That is the advice from a new plastic surgery

firm in Guernsey. It is not clear how many women in the island have

had the implants, but it is thought it could be anywhere between 20 and

50. The company recently offered free check-ups to anyone with

concerns. The there is no rush or urgency but many women are

concerned and they want the impact to be removed. I cannot give them

the assurance they want because the data is not there. It is

understandable that they just want these removed.

18th century treasures lying on the seabed off Alderney could soon be

on display in British Museums. The wreck of HMS Victory was discovered

three years ago by an American exploration company. But now the

MoD has agreed to let the Maritime Heritage Foundation manage the

sunken ship and its treasures. It has been sitting at the bottom

of the English Channel for over 300 years, but HMS Victory was only

discovered three years ago by this deep sea exploration company. But

it was not finders keepers. The Ministry of Defence have now agreed

for a charitable foundation to undertake the management of the

wreck site that has captivated local historians. It is nice that

something is happening. It looked like it could have dragged on for

years and years but a trust has been formed now and an agreement

has been made with the British government. There are many tannins

laughed but there is not much intact within it the structure.

Much of it is on the seabed somewhere.

A crew of over 1,000 went down with HMS Victory when it sank in a storm

is concerned the recovery of the wreck could mean her historically

significant artefacts may be sold to the highest bidder. But Lord

Lingfield hopes by the end of this year some of the navy warship's

photos. Turning to local sport now.

Let us start with rugby. Jersey have gone five points clear at the

top of National League One after a 17-12 win over Cinderford. The

islanders scored three tries. Elsewhere, their title-challengers,

Fylde and Rosslyn Park, both lost. And Guernsey Rugby scored an

impressive away win at the weekend. The Green and Whites beat Haywards

Heath, pushing their opponents down into 10th place in the London One

South table. Guernsey currently sit in second, just five points behind

leaders Chichester. Guernsey FC suffered their first

home loss in a league game at the weekend. They were taking on the

Hampshire side Eversley who are third in the league.

The drums were beating four or a Guernsey victory at the home crowd

held on to win. There had been rumours that Ross Allen could be

signed by a professional football club but he refused to comment.

We are looking ahead to a huge event in the sporting calendar.

There are only six months to go until the 2012 Olympics, and many

other our athletes will be getting ready, but they are not the only

ones. One of our local athlete has been chosen as a line judge during

the Games. She has been a volleyball player

for 30 years and now her quick thinking in the sport has got her

through to the Olympics. Diedre first set her sights on being a

referee at the London Games back in 2009. I have loved the alembics all

my life. London 2012, you will never get another opportunity. --

Britain, and you would be a fool not to go and do it again. Out of

600 people across the UK, Diedre is one of the 24 line judges chosen.

But she only found out last October, when she was at home with her son.

I looked at it and I thought it was a bill. My husband said that I

should open it because it might be the letter. So I opened it and I

think I was a bit shocked. He was jumping all over the kitchen. It

was lovely, actually. Really lovely. With the balls being head at just

over 100 miles per hour at the Olympics, she will keep her eyes

firmly on the line, while we keep our eyes on her.

Unsettled across the Channel Islands. Relatively mild air for

the last few days, but now it is going to get a bit colder. After a

fair amount of clear sky today, there is a lot more cloud on the

weather front as it braces across the Atlantic to give us some patchy

rain. -- races across. Temperatures tomorrow will be mild, at around 11

degrees. The cold front will move through Wednesday night into

Thursday and once that happens the temperatures will drop. It will

become quite breezy through the day. Tonight the cloud is quite

extensive. Fairly light winds initially, but they will pick up

tomorrow. Westerly winds and some outbreaks of rain and not much will

change throughout the afternoon. We will keep a lot of cloud. As for

the coastal waters, the winds will be from the west throughout the day.

There will be occasional drizzle with moderate visibility. Times of

For most of the beaches, it will be rather messy throughout the day,

two or a 3 ft off messy. Here is the forecast for the rest of the

week. We are between weather systems on Wednesday and Thursday.

There will be a glimpse of sunshine coming through. Then it will be

replaced by colder air and a scattering of showers which will

stay with us until Friday and the northerly winds will feel quite
