Hello, a good evening to you. Welcome to BBC Channel Islands news.

Here is what is coming up in tonight's programme. Coming to an

island near you - the Olympic torch route and the names of its bearers

in the Channel Islands are revealed. Also tonight, dead at the age of 30

- the father of one killed after a fall outside his home.

And we bring you all the action from Alderney as the island battles

Guernsey for a place in the Muratti The names of 36 torch bearers who

will carry the Olympic flame through the Channel Island this

summer have been revealed. But there was confusion for many as

they were told they would be holding the torch in the wrong

island. Becky Williams has been to meet some of the nominees and got

Ross Allen has been chosen to carry the torch. I am really proud to be

representing Guernsey on something other than football for a change.

For Jersey's special gymnast, Alex macro, there was some confusion

today as they were told they would be carrying the torch in the wrong

island -- Alex Buesnel. They have now been told it was an admin error.

It gives me a good opportunity to be in Jersey and people will want

to come and see me and Jimmy on. It will be a fantastic atmosphere. --

cheer me on. It would have meant logistic problems getting to

Guernsey. It was at 9 o'clock in the morning which would have meant

flying of the day before so it would have been more difficult for

us. We would have been there nevertheless that great relief it

will be in Jersey. The torch will arrive in Guernsey on 15th

It will make its way back to the sea front and by midday it will

have arrived in Jersey, starting at the kiosk on Victoria Avenue and

then making its way to Liberation Square. Then the torch will come to

the Weybridge. There will be huge celebrations as the cauldron is lit.

Then the torch will make its way back to Fareham and begin its

journey to the Olympic Stadium. The man accused of stabbing six

people in St Helier next summer could go on trial on 13th August.

30-year-old Damian Rzeszowski has been charged with killing his wife,

his two children, his wife's best friend and her child and his father

in-law. They were found with stab wounds at a flat in Victoria

Crescent last year. This morning, Damian Rzeszowski appeared in court

via a video link. His case has been adjourned until April.

The family of an Irish man who died in Jersey at the weekend said he

died in a fall. 30-year-old Michael Stewart, a father of one, who was

originally from Derry, was found outside his flat in Val Plaisant on

Sunday morning. This is where Michael Stewart fell

to his death after returning from a night out on Saturday. It is

believed the Irishman had been celebrating St Patrick's Day with

friends. The family believe he fell while trying to get back into his

flat through the window, having found himself locked out.

Neighbours witnessed the scene moments after he fell. To from what

I can gather his he came back from town earlier than the rest of the

crowd. He had forgotten his keys, climbed up on the railings and

above the ledge to make his way in through the first floor window that

way. But it seems he could not get a grip on the ledge and slip off

backwards. Unfortunately, he landed on the spikes on the railings.

was just walking home and I came across police everywhere.

Everything was cordoned off. Plaisant was cordoned off while

police investigated but they say there were no suspicious

circumstances. Michael's brother, Ryan Stewart, said it was a freak

accident. Michael had his whole life ahead of him but it ended in

seconds. He also said his brother had been on the island for five

years and was planning to marry his long-term partner.

It is unlikely Guernsey will continue its legal battle to save

VAT relief, that is according to the Commerce and Employment

Minister. Although the option of appealing the High Court decision,

to allow them to scrap low-value consignment relief.

The AA may have lost around one of the battle to save LVRC. But is it

worth the legal teams continuing the fight and appealing the

decision? A decision that needs to be made in the next three weeks.

Guernsey's policy council says the island has a limited time to appeal.

The outgoing Commerce and Employment Minister is not

convinced it is worth it. further appeal will take a long

period of time. It will generate extra cost. Visitors will have to

make a decision about the next step. I do not think there are any

benefits in taking it further afield. As the industry and the

island's government works out its next move, it is something Guernsey

Post is having to decide. It would have to still collect VAT for the

UK government. Is there a deal to be done? It is something we have

Minister on behalf of HMRC. Or that allows us to do is beat up the time

An initial report on the remains of five lambs born dead and badly

deformed in Jersey, suggest they do have the birth defect of Iris

Schmallenberg. The authorities are unable to confirm whether the

Lowndes -- the lambs were affected until the results of viral tests.

Combined Counties League One title. They thrashed Bookham by seven

goals-0 at the weekend, leaving them nine points clear at the top

of the table. They can clinch the title on Saturday when they are at

With the odds against an old any win on Saturday's Muratti Vase

semi-final, it came as no surprise to most people that Jersey will be

playing Guernsey. But Alderney's young team should not be too

downhearted as David feared Earl explains. -- David Earl.

Alderney may not have won the Muratti vase since 1920 but what is

important at the Arsenal is competing in this annual event. I

am an altar and the boy and I am proud to be here. Two years ago we

scored on the pitch. We scored first and Guernsey were rattled.

That was a good year. The crowd went mad when we scored. But with

Guernsey playing regular competitive football in the

Combined Counties League this season, it was not going to be easy.
