Good evening. There's been a big increase in rates

of skin cancer in the South West. Cases of malignant melanoma have

nearly doubled in the last 20 years, according to new figures from Cancer

Research. Sophie Pierce reports Is when the sun comes out, the South

West is one of the best places to enjoy it. But if you get burnt, you

risk getting skin cancer. G`ry, who lives in Torquay, has had ntmerous

malignant melanoma 's and h`s to be regularly tested. He always covers

up in the sun. I live with ht because I have learned what I must

do. If I cover up I will be fine. I have got there soon enough `nd

hopefully I am one of the ltcky ones. It is the one to put ht off

and in the long`term it is ` severe case. The sun worshippers are out

down the road. Cancer Research says the growth in cases is down to more

holidays in the sun and gre`ter use of sunbeds. I know the problems with

skin cancer and the like, btt I don't tend to take any notice,

actually. I always think it will not happen to me. I'm not going to cover

up. I used some lotion regularly and had a sensible. I know when I have

had enough so I cover up and go inside. But I always use and cream

and are very careful. Cancer Research says it is important to

avoid sunburn and is urging people to cover up and strong sun.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to try to find the occupants

of a car that crashed off the road near Totnes. It was destroydd by
