The tangled wreckage of a plane that failed to fly.

:00:29.:00:37.

A green house took the brunt of the impact.

Police cordens were immediately in place and homes evacuated to

the east of the runway but I managed to speak to the person

:00:49.:00:51.

At first I thought it was a lorry that had lost its load. It was a

:00:52.:01:07.

heck of a bang. Minutes later

:01:37.:01:43.

An inquest has heard that a man who died at a house bding

:01:44.:01:46.

62`year`old Georges Le Maistre was working at the property at

:01:47.:01:50.

Upper Midvale Road in St Helier when he was killed last week.

:01:51.:01:53.

Today's inquest focussed on personal details so that Mr Le Maistre body

:01:54.:02:02.

The details of what happened here on the 9th June are subject to

:02:03.:02:07.

a Health and Safety Inspectorate investigation that is underway.

:02:08.:02:12.

The deputy viscount was told that a post mortem examination found

:02:13.:02:15.

the cause of death was traulatic asphyxiation ` compression

:02:16.:02:19.

of the chest and that the rdsults of toxicology and histological

:02:20.:02:21.

The police said that the accident wasn't being treated as suspicious.

:02:22.:02:29.

The insurers for Mr Le Maistre employers, Skinner Skips,

:02:30.:02:32.

were at the hearing which was adjourned until

:02:33.:02:35.

Guernsey's fire service rescued four people this morning

:02:36.:02:45.

after a fire broke out at a hotel in St Peter Port.

:02:46.:02:48.

Most of the residents and staff had evacuated the Grange Lodge Hotel

:02:49.:02:51.

when fire officers arrived just after four thirty am, but a few were

:02:52.:02:54.

One person has been treated for smoke inhalation.

:02:55.:03:00.

The fire is believed to havd started in the laundry room.

:03:01.:03:04.

Jersey's government has supported the signing of an agreement

:03:05.:03:07.

All financial institutions handling money on behalf of US citizdns will

:03:08.:03:12.

need to inform and give det`ils to the American tax authorities.

:03:13.:03:19.

High level swimming competitions can no longer be held at the Be`u Sejour

:03:20.:03:22.

swimming pool in Guernsey, because it's too short.

:03:23.:03:24.

A recent change in regulations set by the International governhng body

:03:25.:03:27.

of swimming, means the 25 mdtre pool is fractionally too small when

:03:28.:03:31.

If national competitions ard to be held there in future,

:03:32.:03:37.

the pool must be extended, as Emma Chambers reports.

:03:38.:03:44.

Training hard this morning ` Beau Sejour is the home to

:03:45.:03:47.

It's also been the home to national swimming competitions in Gudrnsey

:03:48.:03:52.

A recent rule change means the pool is now considered too small

:03:53.:04:01.

when electronic timing pads are used in the water.

:04:02.:04:08.

Beau Sejour has been the centre of swimming obviously

:04:09.:04:12.

And the ASA originally accepted 25 metre pools and putting the pads in,

:04:13.:04:20.

this was acceptable, but because the new pools are being built with

:04:21.:04:24.

this extra bit they've deemdd all pools have to be re`measured.

:04:25.:04:31.

And unfortunately Beau Sejotr didn't meet regulations by only a fraction.

:04:32.:04:37.

Now this is one of the electronic timing devices

:04:38.:04:40.

that are put at the end of dach lane during competitions and as xou can

:04:41.:04:44.

see they're not very thick `t all in fact they're only about 1cm wide.

:04:45.:04:50.

But now this new rule means the pool is too short

:04:51.:04:53.

They must be now held at thd pool in St Sampsons.

:04:54.:04:59.

St Sampsons pool hasn't got a swim down pool so when yot get

:05:00.:05:07.

a bit older, when you have ` big programme it makes it that luch more

:05:08.:05:10.

You need to flush that lacthc out before you get to the next race

:05:11.:05:15.

That could deter visiting tdams so the Minister in charge is keen

:05:16.:05:18.

We would have to take the thles off, skim some of the concrete

:05:19.:05:24.

We don't know what?s involvdd unfortunately with

:05:25.:05:28.

the cost that's something wd'll have to go to property services

:05:29.:05:31.

Being one centimetre short hsn't affecting these swimmers

:05:32.:05:36.

preparations for the Commonwealth Games taking place next

:05:37.:05:38.

month, but they hope a solution can be found so Beau Sejour doesn't sink

:05:39.:05:44.

Sport and in tennis Guernsey's Heather Watson is through

:05:45.:05:54.

to the next round at the Eastbourne Ageon Championship She came back to

:05:55.:05:58.

beat former Wimbledon semi finalist Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgarian

:05:59.:06:00.

I am back tomorrow at 6:30pl. There isn't a great deal of changd in our

:06:01.:06:26.

weather pattern. The high pressure is not quite close enough to keep

:06:27.:06:31.

all of the cloud at bay and we keep a bit of the breeze. Tomorrow, it is

:06:32.:06:37.

more cloudy but it is dry and warm and we should see some sunnx spells.

:06:38.:06:43.

Same process that has been happening over the last 24 hours. We have a

:06:44.:06:48.

lot of cloud coming through the edge of this pressure. It is drifting

:06:49.:06:55.

into Northern France into goosing cloudier skies. That process will

:06:56.:06:59.

happen over night to night. It will start off clear and later wd will

:07:00.:07:08.

see more cloud creeping in. Light winds to start the day. The cloud is

:07:09.:07:14.

extensive at first and it whll break up to sunny spells and we should see

:07:15.:07:23.

temperatures of 19 Celsius. The forecast onto the weekend is still

:07:24.:07:25.

dry with plenty of sunshine. days, a dip in teeperature Frhday

:07:26.:07:33.

with warmer temperatures o6er t`e weekend.

:07:34.:07:38.

The main theme through this week is one of mainly dry weather but with

:07:39.:07:44.

important variations from place to play sand from day-to-day. That was

:07:45.:07:48.

the case again today. A sizzling

:07:49.:07:50.
