The passengers of the private aircraft that crashed in Gudrnsey | :00:09. | :00:15.
had a miraculous escape, according to the boss of Guernsey Airport | :00:16. | :00:17.
Their UK registered light aircraft crashed into greenhouses | :00:18. | :00:20.
Tonight, investigations are underway to establish what went wrong. | :00:21. | :00:24.
Sitting just a quarter of a mile from the airport runway, | :00:25. | :00:29.
this was not the planned final destination for this plane. | :00:30. | :00:34.
At around 5pm yesterday aftdrnoon, shortly after taking off from | :00:35. | :00:37.
Guernsey airport, the light aircraft crash landed into these grednhouses. | :00:38. | :00:40.
At first I thought it was a lorry that had lost a load of met`l on the | :00:41. | :01:03.
road. That is what it sounddd like. It was one heck of a bang. | :01:04. | :01:10.
It's not yet known if the private plane had | :01:11. | :01:12.
a technical fault and was trying to return to the airport, or if it came | :01:13. | :01:16.
down suddenly during take`off, but the airport director saxs the | :01:17. | :01:18.
two passengers onboard ` John and Lynda Shaw ` had a lucky escape | :01:19. | :01:21.
Having seen the site and thd way the are aircraft ended up perchdd | :01:22. | :01:28.
between a tree and a greenhouse think they were very fortun`te. Both | :01:29. | :01:36.
the tree and greenhouse brotght the aircraft to a gradual stop, rather | :01:37. | :01:40.
than a sudden stop. Certainly, a very difficult side, diffictlt for | :01:41. | :01:44.
them to escape, but the fact that they walked away is miraculous. | :01:45. | :01:46.
Fire crews have removed the fuel and the aircraft will be taken | :01:47. | :01:49.
The results of the investigation could take six | :01:50. | :01:53.
months to a year before we know what caused this crash. | :01:54. | :02:01.
An inquest in Jersey today heard how a man was found dead in his | :02:02. | :02:05.

The body of 62`year`old Richard Dix was found in such a state | :02:08. | :02:10.
of decompostion, his cause of death was unable to be determined. | :02:11. | :02:13.

who often found him asleep on the buses after drinking too much. | :02:28. | :02:34.
A neighbour confirmed that she had last seen him in August 2013, | :02:35. | :02:37.
stumbling up the stairs to his house, but didn't see hhm | :02:38. | :02:40.
It wasn't until January this year that the police were called to | :02:41. | :02:46.
They found his body in such a state of decomposhtion | :02:47. | :02:51.
that it was impossible to tdll how long he'd been there, | :02:52. | :02:54.
The court heard that it wasn't unusual for Mr Dix to disappear for | :02:55. | :03:01.
months at a time, to either serve a sentence at La Moye prison, or | :03:02. | :03:04.
time in hospital, so his nehghbours didn't notice his absence. | :03:05. | :03:08.
His sister Rosemary gave evhdence to say that she had spent her whole | :03:09. | :03:11.
life trying to help her brother s addiction, but in the end it got | :03:12. | :03:14.
"too much" for her, and she had to step away from the situation. | :03:15. | :03:20.
Passing an inconclusive verdict the corner heard that after | :03:21. | :03:22.
Richard Dix was diagnosed whth a brain tumour in 2010. | :03:23. | :03:25.
He had continued to drink and, in his last few years of life, | :03:26. | :03:28.
disconnected himself from the Social Services department, | :03:29. | :03:30.
and any other help he was rdceiving from local alcohol charities. | :03:31. | :03:43.

next decade and the changes will be phased in over the next 17 xears. | :03:52. | :03:54.
Jersey's Attorney General h`s been appointed the next Deputy B`iliff | :03:55. | :03:57.
Tim le Cocq will move next xear when the current deputy Bailiff | :03:58. | :04:00.
Sport now, and jubilant scenes in Eastbourne | :04:01. | :04:06.

She beat the Italian Flavia Pennetta ` the first time she has be`ten | :04:10. | :04:13.

Walking out on court as British number one, but world number 69 | :04:16. | :04:21.
and facing the world number 12, Guernsey's Heather Watson h`d | :04:22. | :04:23.
The first points went to Watson but her serve was broken | :04:24. | :04:31.
And, when her opponent took the next, things weren't looking good. | :04:32. | :04:41.
Heather battled back into the game and, despite pushing | :04:42. | :04:44.
the first set to a tie break, it was the Italian who took it `6. | :04:45. | :04:47.
But the islander's coach had told her to be more aggressive, | :04:48. | :04:50.
so she came out fighting for the second set. | :04:51. | :04:52.

I have seen Flavia Pennetta play a lot on tour, but I have ndver had | :05:14. | :05:31.
She is a brilliant competitor, so I knew it was not going to be easy. | :05:32. | :05:35.
Even after a tight first set, I just kept on fighting. | :05:36. | :05:43.
After two wins in two days, Heather will have a little rest | :05:44. | :05:46.

Well done, Heather. We are back at 7:30pm tomorrow. Good night. | :05:55. | :06:16.
Hello, good evening. We havd got more of the same over the ndxt few | :06:17. | :06:19.
days. Perhaps more in the w`y of sunshine tomorrow, but towards the | :06:20. | :06:24.
end of the day it might turn a bit misty. For most parts, this area of | :06:25. | :06:29.
high pressure will continue into the weekend and into next week. | :06:30. | :06:36.
Temperatures no lower than 02 degrees tonight, and long spells of | :06:37. | :06:42.
sunshine for much of tomorrow. There may be some low cloud or missed | :06:43. | :06:45.
appearing towards the end of the afternoon and into the evenhng, and | :06:46. | :06:49.
temperatures between 19 and 21 degrees. Into the weekend, we will | :06:50. | :06:57.
find more in the way of sunshine, certainly on Friday. Easterly winds | :06:58. | :07:02.
and temperatures getting back up to 22 degrees. It is slightly cooler | :07:03. | :07:08.
into the weekend. Winds frol the North or Northeast will draw in | :07:09. | :07:12.
slightly fresher conditions, but still a fine and dry story. The UV | :07:13. | :07:18.
level is up at six or seven, so strong sunshine at this timd of | :07:19. | :07:22.
year. And of course, the pollen count remains high. Good night. | :07:23. | :07:32.
remain dpy. op tem0er`tures of 2 Celsius. T`e outloo+ for t(e weakend | :07:33. | :07:36.
is looking pretty good. | :07:37. | :07:39. |
