That's all from Welcome to BBC London News. Hundreds | :00:00. | :00:18.
of residents in South London have spent their bank holiday Monday | :00:19. | :00:21.
without water after pipes btrst last night. Two blocks of flats have been | :00:22. | :00:25.
affected, but there has been some dispute over who is responshble for | :00:26. | :00:28.
the repairs as the premises are split over two different boroughs. | :00:29. | :00:37.
Victoria Graham explains. The problem is simple, a burst water | :00:38. | :00:41.
pipe meaning residents in these flats have no water. The supply was | :00:42. | :00:47.
cut off at eight o'clock yesterday evening. The solution is a little | :00:48. | :00:53.
more complex. For residents living here it has been frustrating. Who do | :00:54. | :00:59.
they call to sort the probldm? Some residents pay their council tax to | :01:00. | :01:04.
Wandsworth and others to Lalbeth. Who is going to solve it? L`mbeth | :01:05. | :01:10.
Council told us it was investigating to find out who was responshble for | :01:11. | :01:14.
the burst water main and were trying to get hold of Thames Water. | :01:15. | :01:19.
Wandsworth apologised for any inconvenience and said they were | :01:20. | :01:23.
working with Thames Water. Thames Water said the problem lies on | :01:24. | :01:28.
privately owned pipe and not one owned by Thames Water, but would | :01:29. | :01:32.
support the council is as mtch as they could until the problel is | :01:33. | :01:37.
fixed. The forecast for a dry bank holiday Monday was not quitd what | :01:38. | :01:43.
some residents envisaged. It is bank holiday Monday, I did not h`ve a | :01:44. | :01:47.
great deal planned, but it would be nice to get up and have a shower. | :01:48. | :01:52.
The concierge told us there was a minor problem in the basement | :01:53. | :01:58.
yesterday. A plumber was called but the situation got worse. Whdn we | :01:59. | :02:03.
arrived it was quite serious and a large water main had burst hn the | :02:04. | :02:07.
power room which was causing flooding throughout the enthre | :02:08. | :02:11.
building. The crews from Lalbeth local fire station have worked | :02:12. | :02:18.
extremely hard to isolate the supply and we have stopped the floodwater. | :02:19. | :02:22.
We have also isolated the electrical supply to ensure the residents are | :02:23. | :02:28.
safe. So no water and no electricity. Thames Water told us | :02:29. | :02:31.
they are still working to rdsolve the problem with the help of both | :02:32. | :02:35.
councils. A group of teenage girls from | :02:36. | :02:38.
Islington has been playing hn the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for Team | :02:39. | :02:42.
England. They were taking p`rt in a tournament for street children in | :02:43. | :02:45.
Rio which aims to bring young people together through their love of | :02:46. | :02:48.
football. Emma North has followed their progress. | :02:49. | :02:58.
This is the street child World Cup held among their favelas of Rio and | :02:59. | :03:03.
it brings together young people whose lives are chaotic, but who | :03:04. | :03:08.
just love playing football. Among them a group of teenage girls from | :03:09. | :03:14.
Islington representing team England. I am excited about getting to see | :03:15. | :03:19.
Brazil. Definitely about seding Brazil and learning about other | :03:20. | :03:24.
people's cultures. Back at home they are in care, so they have h`d to | :03:25. | :03:28.
squeeze in training where possible and sometimes it shows. When we | :03:29. | :03:34.
first arrived they were really, wow, I cannot believe it, bdautiful | :03:35. | :03:40.
surroundings. The first thing they see is a cockroach and they run back | :03:41. | :03:44.
out and they want to go back on the plane. We have just arrived that | :03:45. | :03:50.
night. Our experience in thd last two weeks has been intense. It is a | :03:51. | :03:56.
full programme of activities and a conference and football and | :03:57. | :04:00.
development. The struggles of street children are universal, but here | :04:01. | :04:05.
there is a chance for every child to top. Although we have not won a lot | :04:06. | :04:11.
of matches, we have learnt ` lot as a team. It has been amazing playing | :04:12. | :04:17.
against another team, there are no hard feelings and at the end we all | :04:18. | :04:22.
hug and shake each other's hands. Even though some countries do not | :04:23. | :04:26.
speak English we can communhcate through football, dance and English | :04:27. | :04:32.
`` music. There was no cup to left, they made it to the quarterfinals, | :04:33. | :04:38.
but plenty more to take awax. Now a quick look at tomorrow's | :04:39. | :04:41.
weather. It will be another cloudy start with some showery outbreaks of | :04:42. | :04:44.
rain. Becoming brighter by the afternoon with some sunshind, but | :04:45. | :04:47.
there could be further heavx showers developing later. It will fdel | :04:48. | :04:49.
pleasantly warm with a top temperature of 17 degrees. That is | :04:50. | :04:53.
it from us tonight. We are back with the latest news, travel and weather | :04:54. | :04:56.
every half hour from 6:30am tomorrow morning. For now, have a very good | :04:57. | :04:57.
night. After last year's called Easter we | :04:58. | :05:14.
managed the warmest day of the year so far in Scotland. The day ended | :05:15. | :05:20.
with thunderstorms across parts of Wales and southern England. We are | :05:21. | :05:26.
left with his area of rain. A few heavy bursts, a rumble of thunder. | :05:27. | :05:37.
Plenty of cloud and hill fog around. Tomorrow will be a cloudy day, a | :05:38. | :05:41.
better chance of getting wet, either with showers or outbreaks of rain. | :05:42. | :05:47.
After the overnight rain South Wales and southern England may experience | :05:48. | :05:53.
standing water. More persistent rain coming into northern England. We may | :05:54. | :05:59.
get off to a dry start in Northern Ireland, that will not last. | :06:00. | :06:03. |
