Environmental campaigners say more needs to be done to make sure the

proposed High Speed 2 rail link does not become an eyesore for future

generations. The Campaign For Rural England is calling for better plans

to be made to hide the new route. Emma North has more.

It is more than 15 years since the Otten `` the owners of Diamond water

ski club transformed this place from a dumping ground, now they say they

are counting the days until it becomes a building site because HS2

with scheduled to run through it. I cannot imagine what it will be like,

sitting here even after the build, with a 30 metre high viaduct right

by the clubhouse associated with noise and vibration and that

continuing all the way down there. Its supporters say it will bring

shorter journey times, fewer wasted hours and close the United Kingdom.

These are images from HS2 which indicate how the landscape might

look. But its detractors claim it is a waste of money that tears at the

countryside. Now campaigners claim they have a map which shows just how

much of a nuisance HS2 could be. The Campaign For Rural England says even

the measures that could be taken to hide the line are not good enough.

They use very standardised concrete bridges that are very angular and

jut out into the landscape and we think actually if they tried

different designs it might look better and be something people could

be if not proud, at least not dislike, in future. Campaigners

argue it is not just the people who live right next to HS2 who will be

directly affected. There will also be a considerable number of people

who would like to come out from the city to enjoy the countryside and

this piece, they argue, will be taken from them. HS2 say the final

plans are not in place yet and they are trying to integrate the project

into the countryside with a minimum of disturbance, while taking into

account costs and feasibility. They say any images do not represent the

final detailed design. The projected cost of HS2 has run over budget by

billions. It will end up being a question of balancing finance with

finesse. Nearly a quarter of children aged

between four and five in London are overweight or obese and by year

fixed that figure jumps to one third. But in south London, children

are being targeted from a young age to prevent obesity in later life.

Put you down gently, nicely. Oscar is three and he is always in the

kitchen. I will do it now. It is important to start eating vegetables

so they can get used to it. When you are cooking at home, we cook

healthy. Also get a bit of vegetable involved. Here in Lambeth, where

Oscar lives, around one quarter of four to five`year`olds are

overweight or obese and that is the picture across most of the capital.

22 out of 35 London errors have higher obesity rates in 45`year`olds

than the national average. Oscar has been learning to eat healthily since

he was a baby, at classes run by community workers. A lot of people

don't know what to eat and what is healthy. A lot of parents do not

realise how high foods are in sugar. These classes are great and people

are learning more. I think there needs to be more to get the healthy

eating message out there. There are lots of things that make London a

difficult city. Fruit and vegetables are expensive. People have less

access to grow their own. People are very disconnected from what foodies,

so they tend to go into the big supermarkets and buy the stuff that

is sugary sweet. Health officials warn the earlier a child becomes

overweight, the more likely they are to stay overweight in later life. I

never used to cook a lot of vegetables but since going to the

class, it helps me to start getting a bit of vegetables involved in my

everyday when I am cooking dinner. It does not look like there will be

any problems here, with no arguments over greens at this dinner table.

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League today, after they

lost 4`1 at Stoke. Elsewhere in the Championship, Millwall avoided

relegation with a win over Bournemouth, and in League Two,

Wycombe Wanderers avoided the drop after beating Torquay. Now the
