The editor of the London based Jewish Chronicle -

which is the oldest Jewish newspaper in the world - has apologised for

any upset caused after it printed an advert for emergency aid to Gaza.

Some pro-Israelis called for a boycott of the paper

And it highlights the strength of feeling in London about current

This is the ad that upset readers of the Jewish chronicle - an appeal to

help the people of Gaza by the disasters emergency committee, a

group representing 13 of the UK s biggest charities. But some Jewish

chronicle readers criticised the decision to place the ad in the

Jewish newspaper. The chronicle has apologised for the upset that this

advertisement in the newspaper call -- caused. But they say this was

meant as a humanitarian gesture and that it doesn't reflect the

newspaper's view. In fact the Jewish chronicle said it supports Israel's

military operations in Gaza, but to counter the criticism, the newspaper

is offering next week a free advert featuring charities that support

Israel. There is many people in the Jewish community are concerned by

the humanitarian impact of the conflict. Tensions are high. What is

important is we cannot let come passion be a casualty to the

conflict and there are many people who want to reach out across the
