Good afternoon. I'm Asad Ahmad. There are calls for tougher

penalties against landlords who exploit vulnerable tenants

by providing sub-standard housing. The Chartered Institute of Housing

has found a rise in the number of unscrupulous landlords trying to

cash in on the rental market Ron never thought it would come to

this, aged in his 60s and unemployed he shares a small, rented house in

East London with five other adults. It is a terrible place to live in.

It is dirty and too small. He says he feels trapped in a house that is

making him ill. It is personal hygiene. There are six people. A

queue to get into the bathroom. You can imagine. Newham council

describes this house as an sanitary and unsafe. This grimy work-surface

is speckled with mouse droppings and inside the cupboard, more evidence

of mice and a dead cockroach. The Chartered Institute of Housing once

unscrupulous landlords punished and good once rewarded. They say there

should be minimum housing standards for landlords in England and more

effectively enforced. There should be tax breaks for good landlords

providing high quality housing. Fundamentally I want to see a

situation where all landlords understand their obligations and

meet them and are committed to professional standards. Newham

counsel is inspecting this house following complaints from tenants.

The landlord refused to talk to the BBC about the issues raised. The

association for landlords today welcomed tough action against those

exploiting tenants. Ron had a heart attack in June. For him, finding a

their design ideas into a reality. It's the idea of a former student

from St Martin's College of Art and At first glance, this trendy new

cafe looks like any other opening in London, until you spot the 3D

printer in the window. They can bring their own ideas, a sketch, a

welcomed by small businesses. The next step to turning this idea into
