The last of 49 bodies has been recovered from the Pulse | :00:00. | :00:08.
The moment a party turned into an atrocity - | :00:09. | :00:14.
the images shot by one of the victims. | :00:15. | :00:22.
As some families wait to hear about their loved ones, | :00:23. | :00:24.
Another ammunition, then change and another ammunition. | :00:25. | :00:30.
I was like, this is a gun, this isn't fireworks. | :00:31. | :00:35.
The US-born gunman pledged allegiance to IS, but Barack Obama | :00:36. | :00:40.
says it wasn't a coordinated attack. | :00:41. | :00:43.
There's no evidence so far that he was, | :00:44. | :00:47.
There's no direct evidence that he was part of a larger plot. | :00:48. | :00:55.

Gordon Brown makes the case for staying, in a bid to get | :00:58. | :01:04.
The England manager has this message for fans: | :01:05. | :01:14.
I'm appealing, therefore, to all of our | :01:15. | :01:16.
fans, and we appreciate your support at the matches, of course, but I'm | :01:17. | :01:19.
appealing to you to stay out of trouble. | :01:20. | :01:26.
Later in the hour on BBC News, we'll have action from the European | :01:27. | :01:34.
Championship on euro 2016 Sportsday. We'll have news from the three home | :01:35. | :01:36.
nations in France. Good evening from Orlando Florida, | :01:37. | :01:56.
where a clearer picture is emerging of the worst mass shooting in recent | :01:57. | :02:01.
American history. 49 people were shot dead in a gay | :02:02. | :02:04.
nightclub, just a few metres We're getting a sense as time goes | :02:05. | :02:16.
on of the police operation to stop the slaughter, stop the killing. | :02:17. | :02:21.
It's now emerging that Omar Mateen was apparently cornered in one of | :02:22. | :02:25.
the bathrooms in the club, under a hail of gunfire. Dozens of people | :02:26. | :02:30.
then managed to escape. But the SWAT team that got in there to rescue | :02:31. | :02:35.
those people only gained entry by punching hole into the side of one | :02:36. | :02:39.
of the walls with an armoured vehicle. President Obama made it | :02:40. | :02:42.
clear today that he did not believe the evidence does not suggest that | :02:43. | :02:43.
this was part of a wider plot. Here's our North America editor, | :02:44. | :02:48.
Jon Sopel. At a former school turned old | :02:49. | :02:56.
people's home, the victims' families gathered. They came in their twos | :02:57. | :03:01.
and threes, clinging to each other, bracing themselves for the worst | :03:02. | :03:03.
possible news from the authorities. The process of identifying the | :03:04. | :03:09.
bodies goes on. For the families, an unbearable wait. Meanwhile, | :03:10. | :03:12.
survivors have been telling their stories. I want to say it lasted for | :03:13. | :03:17.
about eight minutes. Like, he wasn't stopping. He kept on shooting and | :03:18. | :03:20.
shooting and shooting and walking around. It was rapid fire. Then he'd | :03:21. | :03:27.
like change. Another ammunition, then change, put another ammunition. | :03:28. | :03:31.
I could smell the ammo in the air. I was like, this is a gun. This isn't | :03:32. | :03:36.
fireworks. We need to leave. New video has emerged from envied the | :03:37. | :03:41.
club. It's just after 2am and this reveller was filming on his | :03:42. | :03:44.
smartphone as the first shots rang out. These are pictures of some of | :03:45. | :03:50.
the young people who've been identified as having lost their | :03:51. | :03:54.
lives. This is Eddie Justice. Had was texting his mother as he was | :03:55. | :03:59.
trapped in the bathroom of the club. Christopher Linonen was unaccounted | :04:00. | :04:02.
for. His mother spoke as she waited for news. When he was in high | :04:03. | :04:08.
school, he started the gay-straight alliance. I've been so proud of him | :04:09. | :04:15.
for that. Please let's all just get along. We're on this earth for such | :04:16. | :04:20.
a short time. Today she found out that Christopher and his boyfriend | :04:21. | :04:25.
didn't survive. It's unclear how the gunman entered. The club was packed. | :04:26. | :04:30.
The main dance floor was hit first. On the patio area, the gunfire was | :04:31. | :04:34.
heard over the loud music sm, managed to escape through the fence, | :04:35. | :04:39.
even those badly injured. Others hid in the toilets, calling police and | :04:40. | :04:43.
texting friends and family for help. It was the last time some families | :04:44. | :04:48.
heard from their loved ones. Additional officers responded. Those | :04:49. | :04:53.
additional officers made entry while the suspect was shooting and gauged | :04:54. | :04:58.
in another -- engaged in a gun battle with the suspect, forced him | :04:59. | :05:04.
to stop shooting and retreat to the bathroom, where we believe he had | :05:05. | :05:09.
several hostages. At that time, we were able to save and rescue dozens | :05:10. | :05:13.
and dozens of people who were injured and not injured and get them | :05:14. | :05:17.
out of the club. So what of the killer, Omar Mateen? Today Barack | :05:18. | :05:20.
Obama said that it seems he was acting alone. At this stage, we see | :05:21. | :05:27.
no clear evidence that he was directed externally. It does appear | :05:28. | :05:36.
that at the last minute, he announced allegiance to Isil. But | :05:37. | :05:40.
there's no evidence, so far, that he was, in fact, directed. Mateen's | :05:41. | :05:45.
father said he had no idea his son had such hatred in his heart. I'm | :05:46. | :05:53.
very sad and I'm very mad and angry - why did he do that? To the | :05:54. | :06:01.
homeland, those people died. They are our family. They got affected. | :06:02. | :06:07.
The 52 people got injured. They're our family. The United States, my | :06:08. | :06:13.
mentality is the United States, we are a family. In Washington a gay | :06:14. | :06:17.
men's choir sang and vigils have been held across the country. | :06:18. | :06:24.
# Were so gallantly streaming... # The pain in the gay community is | :06:25. | :06:29.
acute and America's sense of insecurity and vulnerability has | :06:30. | :06:31.
intensified still further. As authorities gave more details | :06:32. | :06:38.
about the victims of the attacks, also emerging today were tales | :06:39. | :06:42.
of those who survived. We're hearing tales of bravery and | :06:43. | :06:45.
survival. Jon Sopel has been speaking | :06:46. | :06:48.
to one man, Ivory McNeal, who managed to escape the club | :06:49. | :06:50.
but lost six of his friends. All the music, just everything | :06:51. | :07:00.
stops. Everything stops. All you hear is this loud noise, pop, pop, | :07:01. | :07:07.
pop. Like one after another, like and it's just doesn't stop. It | :07:08. | :07:11.
doesn't stop. Like it just keeps going. And so, I run out to an | :07:12. | :07:19.
enclosed patio that was in the back. It's completely blocked off. You | :07:20. | :07:24.
can't just run outside. Like the fences are really high. So I hide | :07:25. | :07:29.
behind like patio furniture. How did you manage to get out? I hear like | :07:30. | :07:34.
people coming in, so I poked my head out and I see like this SWAT team of | :07:35. | :07:40.
people. So I come out, I'm seeing them. I put my hands up. They're all | :07:41. | :07:45.
like holding up guns like they want to shoot me. Hey, I'm not part of | :07:46. | :07:53.
this, like, please, help me. I guess after a second, they realised I'm | :07:54. | :07:56.
not a part of it. So they kind of like grabbed me and get me to | :07:57. | :08:00.
safety. And we're just like walking low and like, getting to safety. And | :08:01. | :08:06.
what about your friends? Did everyone get out? People from the | :08:07. | :08:16.
party died. People from the house warming party died. People from the | :08:17. | :08:19.
house warming party were shot. My friends were shot. Do you know how | :08:20. | :08:22.
many? No. You're still waiting to hear? I'm still waiting to hear. One | :08:23. | :08:31.
tale of survival there. The roads around the nightclub here | :08:32. | :08:35.
are cordoned off. There's a heavy police presence down there. They're | :08:36. | :08:39.
combing the crime scene still. This is a heavily, built-up residential | :08:40. | :08:43.
area. Some of those would died last night would be locals. Some would | :08:44. | :08:47.
have come from further afield. This atrocity has touched a whole nation. | :08:48. | :08:51.
America, once again, having to come together to mourn those who've died | :08:52. | :08:55.
in yet another mass shooting. George, back to you. | :08:56. | :09:01.
Several senior Labour Party figures have taken centre stage in the EU | :09:02. | :09:04.
With growing concern that the Remain campaign has yet to ignite support | :09:05. | :09:09.
among many Labour voters, the former Prime Minister, | :09:10. | :09:11.
Gordon Brown, said they have most to gain if Britain stayed | :09:12. | :09:14.
Here's our political editor, Laura Kuenssberg. | :09:15. | :09:23.
Clearing the stage, the campaign to persuade you to vote in wants Tories | :09:24. | :09:30.
out of the way, at least today. In place, the man who never quite | :09:31. | :09:34.
convinces the public as Prime Minister. Some of you, I gather, | :09:35. | :09:37.
were expecting David Cameron to be here. Can he persuade them now? You | :09:38. | :09:45.
cannot succeed in securing financial stability or dealing with pollution. | :09:46. | :09:48.
The European Union is not the cause of the problem. The European Union | :09:49. | :09:55.
can be part of the solution. With the Tories divided, it's what almost | :09:56. | :09:59.
every Labour MP would say are good reasons to stay. What sort of | :10:00. | :10:03.
message would we send to the world on June 23? If we, Britain, decided | :10:04. | :10:10.
to walk away from our nearest neighbours? This is not the Britain | :10:11. | :10:13.
I know. This is not the Britain I believe in. This is not the Britain | :10:14. | :10:16.
we should aspire to be. We should be a leader in Europe and not leaving | :10:17. | :10:21.
it. It was meant to be David Cameron up there this afternoon. Instead | :10:22. | :10:24.
it's the former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. That tells you | :10:25. | :10:29.
everything you need to know. The Remain camp is worried, deeply | :10:30. | :10:35.
worried that their weeks of warnings have fallen on deaf ears with Labour | :10:36. | :10:39.
voters. This week, different faces, different voices and a different | :10:40. | :10:44.
message. What about immigration that troubles so many? Many Labour voters | :10:45. | :10:49.
feel simply, when you were in power, too many people came here from other | :10:50. | :10:52.
parts of Europe, that's why they think you lost touch. That's why | :10:53. | :10:56.
many of them might vote to leave. You've got to get the balance right. | :10:57. | :11:00.
We manage immigration. In the main, the immigrants who've come to our | :11:01. | :11:04.
country are making a good contribution to our economy. What | :11:05. | :11:08.
we've got to make sure is areas under pressure have public services | :11:09. | :11:11.
properly provided for. Do you think you can make a difference in this | :11:12. | :11:14.
vote? I'm not claiming I have any ability to make a huge difference on | :11:15. | :11:19.
my own. Together we can show that we can get things done. The occasional | :11:20. | :11:23.
Labour MP is enjoying being on the other side, sharing the trail with | :11:24. | :11:27.
Boris Johnson. And with new predictions today that immigration | :11:28. | :11:32.
will go up and up for decades, Outers claimed Gordon Brown's | :11:33. | :11:36.
appearance shows they might win. I can tell what the Remain side are a | :11:37. | :11:41.
bit rattled, my friends, because they had a re-launch this morning. | :11:42. | :11:47.
They decided to use Gordon Brown to inject some dynamism into | :11:48. | :11:51.
proceedings, which shows the measure of the panic they're in. They're | :11:52. | :11:55.
resorting to more and more scare stories, more and more misery, more | :11:56. | :11:59.
and more discussion of the end of civilisation as we know it. Do we | :12:00. | :12:03.
believe this doom mongering? Absolutely not. All David Cameron's | :12:04. | :12:08.
warnings seem not enough. You'll see more of him and more of them. This | :12:09. | :12:11.
was not Remain's plan. Football now, and six England fans | :12:12. | :12:15.
have been jailed in Marseilles, following the violence | :12:16. | :12:18.
during the opening But a French official has described | :12:19. | :12:20.
some of the Russians involved Today the England manager, | :12:21. | :12:25.
Roy Hodgson, and captain, Wayne Rooney, have appealed to fans | :12:26. | :12:29.
to stay out of trouble. England have been trying | :12:30. | :12:32.
to focus on their football, but with their threat of expulsion | :12:33. | :12:39.
from Euro 2016 hanging over them, today coach and captain had this | :12:40. | :12:46.
message for the supporters: I'd like to ask the fans, please, if | :12:47. | :12:48.
you don't And for the fans with tickets, | :12:49. | :12:51.
be safe, be sensible and continue with your great support | :12:52. | :12:56.
for the players. I'm obviously very concerned | :12:57. | :12:58.
about the threat which is now hanging over us and the sanctions | :12:59. | :13:00.
that could possibly be imposed We worked very hard to get here, | :13:01. | :13:03.
and we really desperately I'm appealing therefore | :13:04. | :13:07.
to all of our fans - and we appreciate your support | :13:08. | :13:12.
at the matches, of course - but I'm appealing to you to | :13:13. | :13:14.
stay out of trouble. UEFA's warned England and Russia | :13:15. | :13:19.
they'll both be thrown out of the tournament if there's any | :13:20. | :13:22.
repeat of the scenes in Marseille. The French authorities say | :13:23. | :13:25.
a hard-core group of Russian thugs TRANSLATION: There are 100, | :13:26. | :13:27.
150 people who have a reputation They were very quick | :13:28. | :13:35.
and very violent. The weekend's violence has cast | :13:36. | :13:49.
a shadow over a tournament The trouble is raising serious | :13:50. | :13:51.
questions about the effectiveness of the policing, the segregation | :13:52. | :13:56.
of fans and stewarding inside the stadium and UEFA's | :13:57. | :13:58.
scheduling of certain matches England came close to being kicked | :13:59. | :14:01.
out of Euro 2000 after fans went on the rampage in Charleroi, | :14:02. | :14:09.
but some believe they're now In my view, a team has never been | :14:10. | :14:13.
as close as it is today of being thrown out a major | :14:14. | :14:19.
football tournament. UEFA are under huge pressure | :14:20. | :14:22.
because of the threat of terrorism, which has only grown over the past | :14:23. | :14:28.
20 years, to be seen Yesterday, more disorder | :14:29. | :14:33.
for the authorities to contend with, With Russia playing there | :14:34. | :14:38.
on Wednesday, and England fans using it as a base for the match | :14:39. | :14:44.
against Wales in nearby Lens the following day, the trouble | :14:45. | :14:47.
could be far from over. The weather is stuck on repeat for | :14:48. | :15:03.
some, but not for all. A beautiful day today across the Northern Isles | :15:04. | :15:07.
and up into Aberdeenshire, not a cloud in the sky. That really was | :15:08. | :15:12.
the exception. Most of us had this leaden looking skies. We waited for | :15:13. | :15:16.
the showers and when they arrived they lingered. Across south-west | :15:17. | :15:21.
Scotland, stretching into north-west England, through the Peaks and East | :15:22. | :15:25.
Midlands, East Anglia. In the last hour thundery down pours across the | :15:26. | :15:28.
south-east as well. They're going to linger through the night. Some of | :15:29. | :15:32.
them pretty slow moving. There'll be a lot of surface water and spray and | :15:33. | :15:35.
some poor visibility, particularly to higher ground, mist and fog to | :15:36. | :15:39.
greet us first thing. Clearer skies in the far west of Scotland. Maybe a | :15:40. | :15:44.
little fresher here. That's where we're likely to see the best of the | :15:45. | :15:48.
sunshine tomorrow. Different story into Aberdeenshire - cloud and rain | :15:49. | :15:51.
arrives. Some of that is persistent into the afternoon. For England and | :15:52. | :15:56.
Wales, it's same old, same old - sunny spells, scattered showers, | :15:57. | :15:59.
some heavy and thundery. If you dodge the showers, you are keep the | :16:00. | :16:02.
sunshine, highs of around 20 degrees. Aer feel into the | :16:03. | :16:06.
north-east. Low pressure remains in the driving seat. Little change | :16:07. | :16:10.
through this week. Actually, we could see some persistent rain | :16:11. | :16:14.
lingering across certain tral and southern Scotland with a | :16:15. | :16:19.
north-easterly flow making it feel chilly. Scattered showers again, | :16:20. | :16:23.
some of those potent if you catch them. If you dodge them you keep the | :16:24. | :16:26.
sunshine. Temperatures peaking at 19 degrees. Cooler to the north-east | :16:27. | :16:28.
with that north-easterly flow. A reminder of our main story: | :16:29. | :16:33.
Survivors of the Orlando mass -- President Obama says the killer | :16:34. | :16:39.
responsible for the mass shooting in Orlando was not part of a larger | :16:40. | :16:42.
plot. Some families are still waiting for news of their retifrz. | :16:43. | :16:45.
Tonight, cities around the world are demonstrating their solidarity. | :16:46. | :16:48.
This was Glasgow, where 600 people gathered to remember those who died. | :16:49. | :16:50.
And this was Soho in Central London, where people released balloons | :16:51. | :17:04.
It's time to join the BBC's news teams where you are. | :17:05. | :17:07. |
