We are unable at this time to discount terrorism, but I stress | :00:23. | :00:25.
that other lines of enquiry are equally plausible. | :00:26. | :00:27.

A manhunt is underway for two men of Middle Eastern appearance | :01:34. | :01:36.
who attempted to abduct a soldier out jogging near his airbase, | :01:37. | :01:39.
The serviceman was not in uniform when he went out for a run yesterday | :01:40. | :01:48.
- he was approached by the two men, one of whom tried to grab him, | :01:49. | :01:51.
but he was able to fight him off and run away. | :01:52. | :01:54.
The police say while the motive for the attack remains unclear, | :01:55. | :01:57.
RAF Marham is home to the UK's Tornado fighter jets | :01:58. | :02:00.
which are currently involved in operations in the Middle East. | :02:01. | :02:03.
Our security correspondent Frank Gardner has more. | :02:04. | :02:04.
On a quiet country lane near Norfolk a base and RAF serviceman has | :02:05. | :02:13.
narrowly escaped kidnapped by two unidentified men. Security is now | :02:14. | :02:17.
intense, the search is underway for the attackers, their minivan and a | :02:18. | :02:21.
knife. The serviceman who escaped said to be badly shaken the attacker | :02:22. | :02:27.
placed his hand on the victim shoulder and then on his wrist and | :02:28. | :02:30.
started to pull him with a degree of force the vehicle. The victim | :02:31. | :02:40.
resisted that, managed to break free and effectively fought free from the | :02:41. | :02:43.
attack and rendered the first assailant effectively knocked the | :02:44. | :02:49.
floor. Three squadrons of turn a double honours are based here, | :02:50. | :02:53.
aircraft that have recently been in action against so-called Islamic | :02:54. | :02:58.
State in Iraq. But police and government officials say terrorism | :02:59. | :03:01.
is not the only motive being considered. RAF Marham is home to | :03:02. | :03:05.
around 10,000 service personnel, their families and support staff. | :03:06. | :03:09.
The RAF's front line turn those quadrants which have been used on | :03:10. | :03:12.
operations in the middle east are based there. The attempted abduction | :03:13. | :03:19.
took place close to the base around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon. It | :03:20. | :03:24.
involved a minivan, two men and a short military style knife. It's an | :03:25. | :03:27.
uncomfortable reminder of an attack on another of duty serviceman three | :03:28. | :03:31.
years ago. Then she is a weirdly Rigby was run down and murdered in | :03:32. | :03:36.
Woolwich by two British jihadist. We know since the brutal murder of | :03:37. | :03:41.
leave Rigby that terrorist groups have become obsessed with targeting | :03:42. | :03:44.
the police and the military, telling them, using them for propaganda | :03:45. | :03:51.
purposes -- killing them. Hours of CCTV to jar being examined, calling | :03:52. | :03:57.
for witnesses and searching for two attackers to the vehicle and weapon. | :03:58. | :04:02.
At the moment this remains a criminal, not a terrorist operation. | :04:03. | :04:06.
Our correspondent Sophie Long is at RAF Marham for us now. | :04:07. | :04:09.
The police are appealing for information this evening, | :04:10. | :04:11.
what more can you tell us about the investigation? | :04:12. | :04:15.
This was never going to be a normal day here, it is a family fun day, an | :04:16. | :04:22.
annual event where friends and families of service men and women | :04:23. | :04:25.
who work at the base behind me come and see what they do. This year they | :04:26. | :04:30.
won't have got a perfect picture, one road remains closed and two | :04:31. | :04:33.
suspect accused of attempting to abduct a service man who works here | :04:34. | :04:38.
remain at large. It's crucial that police find those two men and their | :04:39. | :04:41.
vehicle because only then will they be able to establish the motive | :04:42. | :04:45.
behind the attack and then can the rule out whether it was terror role | :04:46. | :04:49.
they did. That is what worries the families more is to have come here | :04:50. | :04:54.
today. The young man involved we are told is eight-year man, married in | :04:55. | :04:58.
his 20s. He was running close to the married quarters about a mile down | :04:59. | :05:02.
the road. He said one of the men said something to him but because he | :05:03. | :05:06.
was running with headphones in he was unable to tell them what it was. | :05:07. | :05:10.
Norfolk police say they are treating it with the utmost seriousness, an | :05:11. | :05:15.
investigation is underway. Meanwhile the service men and women who work | :05:16. | :05:18.
at the base behind me are being told to not come out alone or in their | :05:19. | :05:22.
uniforms and to make themselves as invulnerable as they possibly can. | :05:23. | :05:25.
Jeremy Corbyn has said that Labour MPs could face re-selection - | :05:26. | :05:28.
when new parliamentary boundaries come into force in | :05:29. | :05:30.
It raises the possibility that Labour MPs who do not | :05:31. | :05:35.
support his leadership may be out of a job. | :05:36. | :05:39.
Mr Corbyn was speaking at the launch of his campaign to hold | :05:40. | :05:42.
on as leader of the party - a campaign which he is now | :05:43. | :05:45.
Our Political Correspondent Vicki Young has more details. | :05:46. | :05:48.
He was elected as Labour leader less than a year ago, | :05:49. | :05:52.
but today Jeremy Corbyn was back on the campaign trail. | :05:53. | :05:56.
Most Labour MPs have deserted him, but he says his desire | :05:57. | :05:59.
to fight inequality, neglect and discrimination | :06:00. | :06:01.
Labour movement is about improving people's lives, about ending | :06:02. | :06:10.
injustice, about giving power to the powerless and building | :06:11. | :06:13.
a society where opportunity and wealth is shared. | :06:14. | :06:19.
A raft of policy announcements are promised over the summer. | :06:20. | :06:21.
The next Labour government will require all employers | :06:22. | :06:37.
to publish equality pay audits, detailing pay, grade and hours | :06:38. | :06:40.
of every job alongside data on recognised | :06:41. | :06:41.
But what about the deep divisions between him | :06:42. | :06:44.
The reason you are here is because most of your MPs have | :06:45. | :06:48.
decided it's not that they don't like you, they don't think | :06:49. | :06:51.
This party is going places, this party is strong, | :06:52. | :06:55.
this party is capable of winning a general election. | :06:56. | :06:57.
And if I'm leader of the party, I will be the Prime Minister. | :06:58. | :07:00.
Mr Corbyn said it was the duty of all Labour MPs to get | :07:01. | :07:03.
behind the party and take on the Conservatives. | :07:04. | :07:05.
He offered his colleagues the hand of friendship but seemed to confirm | :07:06. | :07:08.
they could be ousted as Labour candidates at the next election | :07:09. | :07:10.
There will be a full and open selection process for every | :07:11. | :07:14.
Labour constituency, every constituency Labour Party | :07:15. | :07:16.
Mr Corbyn's allies insist that's not a threat to replace MPs | :07:17. | :07:21.
But the man who is challenging him in this contest isn't so sure. | :07:22. | :07:32.
It doesn't seem very kind and gentle to me for Jeremy | :07:33. | :07:34.
to threaten everybody who works for him, with the sack. | :07:35. | :07:38.
It's not much of an employer who says work harder or I'm | :07:39. | :07:41.
Why do you think you should be the next Labour leader? | :07:42. | :07:45.
I'm a socialist, same as Jeremy, I am someone who wants | :07:46. | :07:47.
But I want a radical Labour government, | :07:48. | :07:50.
I want to put the principles into practice. | :07:51. | :07:56.
More than half a million people will get a vote in this leadership | :07:57. | :07:59.
contest and more than 100,000 of them signed up just this week. | :08:00. | :08:03.
Jeremy Corbyn's team is convinced the majority of them | :08:04. | :08:05.
So while he's lost support here in Parliament, today | :08:06. | :08:13.
he certainly looked and sounded confident of victory. | :08:14. | :08:15.
But Owen Smith's supporters say things are shifting their way. | :08:16. | :08:20.
I supported Jeremy last year to be leader because I believed a lot | :08:21. | :08:23.
I thought he could be a fantastic leader and put his | :08:24. | :08:27.
But the bottom line is, they stayed on paper. | :08:28. | :08:31.
Jeremy Corbyn simply doesn't have the support among Labour MPs. | :08:32. | :08:34.
He doesn't have a Shadow Cabinet that is able to form | :08:35. | :08:36.
an effective opposition, let alone an effective government. | :08:37. | :08:38.
Do you think Jeremy Corbyn could ever be | :08:39. | :08:40.
Team Corbyn is as passionate as ever. | :08:41. | :08:45.
He has a massive mandate among grassroots people and the attacks | :08:46. | :08:48.
He's been providing tremendous leadership up and down the country. | :08:49. | :08:54.
Beginning with bringing into the Labour Party, | :08:55. | :08:56.
And the Labour leader hopes that enthusiasm | :08:57. | :09:03.
The prosecutor investigating the Nice terror attack in which 84 | :09:04. | :09:12.
people were killed has said the lorry driver Mohamed Bouhlel had | :09:13. | :09:14.
accomplices and had been planning the attack for several months. | :09:15. | :09:17.
Let's speak to our correspondent Lucy Williamson who's in Paris | :09:18. | :09:19.
It had initially looked as if this man acted alone but now it doesn't | :09:20. | :09:32.
appear that way? That is correct, five suspected accomplices in | :09:33. | :09:37.
custody here tonight. French, Tunisian and Albanian nationalities | :09:38. | :09:41.
including one Albanian man suspected of supplying the pistol bound in the | :09:42. | :09:45.
cab. The prosecutor said text messages were found between Mohamed | :09:46. | :09:51.
Bouhlel and one of the suspected accomplices talking about soldiers | :09:52. | :09:57.
of a la, describing themselves as soldiers of Allah. The interior | :09:58. | :10:05.
minister said that he believed Mohamed Bouhlel might have been very | :10:06. | :10:09.
quickly radicalised because there were not that many obvious signs | :10:10. | :10:13.
that that is what he was planning to do, he was unknown to security | :10:14. | :10:17.
services. The question over France is how much this suspected group was | :10:18. | :10:20.
plugged into the wider jihadist network. | :10:21. | :10:25.
Theresa May is meeting the French President Francois Hollande in Paris | :10:26. | :10:29.
tonight to discuss Britain's experts from the European Union. Yesterday | :10:30. | :10:37.
Theresa May said more time was needed and the objectives for formal | :10:38. | :10:40.
talks and Sigma called that article 50 would not be triggered this year. | :10:41. | :10:43.
Now we may all have been enjoying the recent sunshine - | :10:44. | :10:46.
but with the unpredictable nature of the British summer, | :10:47. | :10:48.
Health experts say we're not and we should all consider taking | :10:49. | :10:52.
Vitamin D supplements in the autumn and winter months to make up | :10:53. | :10:55.
for a lack of sun and the fact we're not eating enough eggs and fish - | :10:56. | :10:59.
a rich source of the vitamin which keeps our bones strong. | :11:00. | :11:02.
This is what vitamin deed efficiency can look like, the normally strong | :11:03. | :11:12.
leg bones have become soft and bowed under the weight of the body. In | :11:13. | :11:17.
children it is often the result of the condition rackets. At Manchester | :11:18. | :11:20.
Royal Infirmary doctors say the health community has finally woken | :11:21. | :11:23.
up to the significant problems caused by a lack of vitamin deed. We | :11:24. | :11:34.
see people with problems with Vitamin D at all ages all levels of | :11:35. | :11:41.
society. One of the problems of diagnosing Vitamin D deficiency in | :11:42. | :11:46.
general is that the symptoms can be very non-specific so people can just | :11:47. | :11:53.
have pain, muscle weakness, if it gets very bad the bones can break. | :11:54. | :12:03.
Food like oily fish, eggs and some cereals contain Vitamin D but | :12:04. | :12:06.
experts say it's hard to get enough food diet alone. Our main source | :12:07. | :12:10.
comes from the sun on our skin but it doesn't work through sunscreen. | :12:11. | :12:15.
The advice from today is that all adults in the UK should have a | :12:16. | :12:19.
vitamin deed pill once a day in the autumn and winter and children under | :12:20. | :12:22.
the age of four should have won every day of the year. Scotland is | :12:23. | :12:27.
reassessing whether a young babies there should also get it. The advice | :12:28. | :12:38.
is that we should be taking supplements particularly in the | :12:39. | :12:39.
winter months and children throughout the year, do you think | :12:40. | :12:41.
that's reasonable? It's certainly reasonable, the evidence is there, | :12:42. | :12:45.
worldwide evidence poured through very careful and that's the | :12:46. | :12:51.
recommendation. It seems a bit of an imposition for everyone to take a | :12:52. | :12:55.
vitamin supplement. I think you could get into the routine of giving | :12:56. | :13:00.
them one day, maybe missed a day or two, but if you miss it on a couple | :13:01. | :13:04.
of days it probably doesn't matter too much. There is also the issue of | :13:05. | :13:09.
the cost of these things. They are not cheap. I do worry about whether | :13:10. | :13:12.
people on low incomes can afford to take them. It's quite expensive. NHS | :13:13. | :13:20.
England says Vitamin D pills are available free of charge for low | :13:21. | :13:25.
income families and in addition to supplements experts say exercise is | :13:26. | :13:27.
also good for the bones. Dramatic video footage has revealed | :13:28. | :13:30.
the moment a black man was shot by a US police officer in Miami | :13:31. | :13:34.
despite the man keeping his hands in the air and telling | :13:35. | :13:37.
the officer he was unarmed. Charles Kinsey is a therapist | :13:38. | :13:39.

after a number of black people have been shot by police | :13:46. | :13:48.

Nick Bryant reports. An unarmed black man | :13:51. | :13:57.
with his hands in the air, trying to explain to police | :13:58. | :14:00.
he is a therapist looking after a young man with autism, | :14:01. | :14:02.
whose toy truck has been mistaken He pleads with his patient to lie | :14:03. | :14:05.

to an emergency call that a man was brandishing a gun | :14:14. | :14:23.
and threatening suicide. The video ends before the therapist, | :14:24. | :14:27.
Charles Kinsey, was shot But you can hear him trying | :14:28. | :14:30.
desperately to calm the situation. I stick up my hands and I say, | :14:31. | :14:42.
"I just got shot." And his words to me, | :14:43. | :14:49.
he said, "I don't know." No weapon was found at the scene | :14:50. | :14:56.
even though an officer Charles Kinsey's lawyer, | :14:57. | :14:58.

of fraud than any other type One in ten of us is | :16:29. | :16:31.
likely to fall victim - most probably by losing money | :16:32. | :16:35.
from our bank accounts and credit cards - | :16:36. | :16:37.
as our Home Affairs correspondent, These are the faces of some | :16:38. | :16:39.
of Britain's most wanted fraudsters Men suspected of stealing money | :16:40. | :16:44.
through dating apps, The internet era has | :16:45. | :16:48.
brought with it a whole Fraud, hacking and computer viruses | :16:49. | :16:55.
now affect one in ten people About the same risk as all other | :16:56. | :17:00.
crimes added together. And statisticians, compiling | :17:01. | :17:07.
the figures for the first time, say these new crimes | :17:08. | :17:10.
affect everyone, equally. Unlike traditional crimes, | :17:11. | :17:13.
what we are seeing today is these figures show that everyone | :17:14. | :17:17.
in society has a very similar level of risk, | :17:18. | :17:20.
whether you live in an urban area, or a rural area, a poor | :17:21. | :17:23.
area or a rich area, your chance of being a victim | :17:24. | :17:26.
of fraud is very similar. Like computers and smartphones, | :17:27. | :17:29.
computer fraud has reached Cherie Power told me she paid ?2,500 | :17:30. | :17:31.
of her money and her friend's She never got the villa | :17:32. | :17:41.

somebody can actually act that dishonest and be OK with taking that | :17:47. | :17:56.
much money from someone. Fraud and online crime has become | :17:57. | :17:58.
such a growing problem that police forces are having to develop | :17:59. | :18:08.
new ways of dealing with them. We've been invited to this anonymous | :18:09. | :18:11.

with these new crimes. Here detectives have had to embrace | :18:18. | :18:21.
different skills. They can't catch computer fraudsters | :18:22. | :18:23.
using fingerprints and DNA. We need specialists to be able | :18:24. | :18:33.

athletics team competing in Rio Olympics has been upheld | :19:19. | :19:25.
despite a legal challenge. The Court of Arbitration for Sport | :19:26. | :19:28.
in Switzerland has rejected attempts by a number of Russian athletes | :19:29. | :19:31.
to get it overturned. Russia's sports minister insisted | :19:32. | :19:33.
the ruling was "political" and has Steve Rosenberg has spent the day | :19:34. | :19:36.

battling for medals. This event was supposed to be final | :19:42. | :19:46.
preparation for the summer Olympics. But Russian track and field | :19:47. | :19:55.
is banned from international competition because of doping | :19:56. | :19:57.

for all professional athletes is to be part of the Olympic Games | :20:15. | :20:22.
and to get medals. For Maria Kuchina, Rio would have | :20:23. | :20:31.
been her first Olympic Games. "It's not fair, clean | :20:32. | :20:33.

on all Russian sportsmen in Rio, the entire team and that will be | :20:50. | :20:53.
for the International Olympic That's because this week | :20:54. | :20:56.
the World Anti-Doping Agency presented evidence of cheating | :20:57. | :21:04.
by Russia in 30 sports, with the help of a secret doping | :21:05. | :21:06.
programme. When I spoke to the Head | :21:07. | :21:11.

take action and if you feel banning them is right, | :21:51. | :21:53.
I am for it. But if Rio does go ahead | :21:54. | :21:55.
without Russia, it'll be It's four weeks since Britain voted | :21:56. | :22:00.
to leave the European Union. All this week we've been hearing | :22:01. | :22:02.
from different voices around The South East is one of the many | :22:03. | :22:05.
areas that voted for Brexit. Our Political Editor there, | :22:06. | :22:09.
Helen Catt, has been to Dover, It's an issue which has certainly | :22:10. | :22:12.
stirred emotions in the south-east. In the port town of Dover, | :22:13. | :22:20.
more than 60% of voters For many, immigration | :22:21. | :22:22.
was a key factor. It took me nine months to find a job | :22:23. | :22:28.
in this country because the employers | :22:29. | :22:32.
were favouring Europeans. I had a young family at the time | :22:33. | :22:36.
that I needed to provide for. I couldn't provide for them | :22:37. | :22:39.
because I couldn't get a job. There is just way too many people | :22:40. | :22:42.
trying to get into the country They should try to do that | :22:43. | :22:45.
in their own countries. The UK is now moving towards life | :22:46. | :22:49.
outside the EU but what will that new future look like for migrants | :22:50. | :22:52.
like Portugese cafe It's always been my | :22:53. | :22:55.
dream to get a cafe. This is why I have been working | :22:56. | :23:01.
for 17 years in this country. Before, if someone said to me, | :23:02. | :23:05.
"go home", I had the chance to say, "This is my home | :23:06. | :23:10.
and I have the right to be At the moment, we don't | :23:11. | :23:14.
have that voice. Calais is only about 20 miles that | :23:15. | :23:20.
way from the Port of Dover and the almost constant stream | :23:21. | :23:23.
of ferries shuttling back and forth play a vital role in the town's | :23:24. | :23:26.
economy, but it's that proximity to mainland Europe which has made | :23:27. | :23:29.
Dover a symbolic battleground, And it seems that battle may have | :23:30. | :23:31.
left its mark on the town We found, particularly the first few | :23:32. | :23:39.
days after the vote, that there was a lot of insecurity | :23:40. | :23:43.
and fear and where racial abuse has been scrawledd in certain | :23:44. | :23:59.
parts of Dover. They have possibly the mistaken | :24:00. | :24:01.
belief that the migration issue will Well, in fact it won't go away | :24:02. | :24:04.
because, here in this A few miles down the road, | :24:05. | :24:07.
at what claims to be Britain's closest pub | :24:08. | :24:11.
to France, a different story. I voted out purely because living | :24:12. | :24:13.
in Kent, immigration. I can understand business | :24:14. | :24:16.
and the City boys voting to stay in. The country is split | :24:17. | :24:23.
and it is them and us. For now, though, both migrants | :24:24. | :24:28.
who want to stay and voters who want less immigration are in the same | :24:29. | :24:32.
boat, waiting to see Now, she's America's First Lady | :24:33. | :24:34.
and a role model for millions But as Michelle Obama's time | :24:35. | :24:44.
in the White House draws to a close, she's decided to show her lighter | :24:45. | :24:52.
side - jumping in alongside British comic, James Corden, | :24:53. | :24:54.
for his Carpool Karaoke - which has become something | :24:55. | :24:56.
of an institution on US television. In last night's episode Corden took | :24:57. | :24:59.
a tour of the White House, I hear you're doing the 1.45 tour, | :25:00. | :25:02.
and I've got some time on my hands, Do you mind if we | :25:03. | :25:13.
listen to some music? I rarely get to listen to music | :25:14. | :25:28.
in the car. Did you know that Stevie | :25:29. | :25:31.
Wonder is my favourite? # Like a fool I went | :25:32. | :25:56.
and stayed too long # Now I'm wondering if you're love's | :25:57. | :26:00.
still strong # Oh baby # Here I am # Sign, sealed, | :26:01. | :26:02.
delivered # I'm yours # They were later joined by surprise | :26:03. | :26:05.
guest Missy Elliott for a rendition And there was a surprising | :26:06. | :26:08.
revelation from the First Lady. Oh, wow I have been in a car, | :26:09. | :26:14.
maybe it was months ago, with my daughter | :26:15. | :26:17.
who learned to drive. We rocked out with her | :26:18. | :26:18.
but that was the only time in seven-and-a-half years that | :26:19. | :26:22.
I have been in the passenger seat, listening to music, | :26:23. | :26:25.
rocking out like this. She also talked about what she would | :26:26. | :26:26.
miss about the White House You know, to walk away from people | :26:27. | :26:31.
that you see every # If you like it, | :26:32. | :26:36.
then you should've put # Oh, oh, | :26:37. | :26:52.
Come on, sing it to us. Absolutely not. The gallery is | :26:53. | :27:04.
begging me. North time or place. Let's stick to all thing | :27:05. | :27:09.

Let's stick to all thing meteorological. This evening, not a | :27:10. | :27:11.
bad evening. A little on the cloudy side. Cloud | :27:12. | :27:16.
increasing through the afternoon. A couple of sprinkles reaching | :27:17. | :27:18.
southern, western and northern areas. For most a dry evening, which | :27:19. | :27:24.
is how it'll stay but one or two showers are on the cards. Through | :27:25. | :27:27.
this evening and overnight, across the Midlands into the Pennines, we | :27:28. | :27:31.
could get a couple of heavy showers, also in western and parts of | :27:32. | :27:34.
Scotland, look at the temperatures, not as hot as it has been, but still | :27:35. | :27:39.
on the warm side. 17 from the lowlands of Scotland all the way | :27:40. | :27:42.
southwards. Tomorrow, it is one of those days where the weather will be | :27:43. | :27:46.
a little hit and miss. Plenty of dry weather and sunshine around but the | :27:47. | :27:49.
chance of catching one or two heavy downpours, particularly to the north | :27:50. | :27:53.
of London, around East Anglia and into Lincolnshire there. Could be | :27:54. | :27:56.
hail there as well and one or two showers dotted around further north | :27:57. | :27:59.
and west, too. If you are planning to spend a pleasant Friday evening | :28:00. | :28:03.
outdoors, for most of us it should be fine. Remember, those showers | :28:04. | :28:06.
will be lurking around. Here is a look at Saturday. We have a couple | :28:07. | :28:12.
of fronts wishy washing its way across the UK. This one in the west | :28:13. | :28:16.
will bring cloud and outbreaks of rain into the north-west of the | :28:17. | :28:19.
country and also further east, there will beshine with a few showers | :28:20. | :28:24.
dotted around. So, there is hit and miss bits of rain. A hot day on | :28:25. | :28:28.
Saturday in the south-east. I don't think it will be that gloriously | :28:29. | :28:32.
sunny. Western areas will have fresher weather. The same theme | :28:33. | :28:36.
continues into Sunday. Out west thicker cloud and a chance of rain | :28:37. | :28:40.
in the north-west but in the south-east, hotter weather with | :28:41. | :28:44.
highs up to 26. So, let's summarise all of that. | :28:45. | :28:48.
Actually no, we won't. I will hand you back. | :28:49. | :28:53.
Thank you very much. A reminder of our main story this evening: | :28:54. | :28:57.
A manhunt is under way for two people who tried to abduct a | :28:58. | :29:01.
serviceman from RAF Marham in Norfolk. | :29:02. | :29:03.
That's all from the BBC News at Six, so it's goodbye from me | :29:04. | :29:05. |
