Good evening. This is BBC Newsline I'm Noel | :00:17. | :00:22.
Thompson. The headlines this Monday evening: | :00:22. | :00:25.
Home is the hero - Darren Clarke is back in Portrush where the party | :00:25. | :00:28.
has begun for Northern Ireland's first Open Golf Champion for more | :00:28. | :00:33.
than half-a-century. The star arrived back this afternoon along | :00:33. | :00:43.
:00:43. | :00:43. | ||
with his fiance, Alison, and the famous trophy. | :00:43. | :00:48.
When I got on to the 18th green I realised I had four putts from | :00:48. | :00:52.
there. The support I have had all week has been incredible. | :00:52. | :00:56.
In other news: Volunteers join the search for the teenager missing in | :00:56. | :00:59.
Lough Swilly. The 17-year-old went missing from the pier at Rathmullan | :00:59. | :01:04.
at the weekend. His mother is still at the scene. | :01:04. | :01:08.
I don't know what to think. I just want him home. | :01:08. | :01:11.
After a weekend of poor weather followed by yet more rain today, | :01:11. | :01:20.
find out if the rest of the week Less than 24 hours after winning | :01:20. | :01:23.
the Open Golf Championship, Darren Clarke is back home on the North | :01:23. | :01:27.
Coast. This afternoon he showed off his splendid Claret Jug trophy in a | :01:27. | :01:30.
local hotel, where family and friends have been getting warmed up | :01:30. | :01:40.
:01:40. | :01:45. | ||
for the official welcome party Well, our reporter Stephen Watson | :01:45. | :01:48.
watched Darren win at Royal St George's in Kent and travelled back | :01:48. | :01:53.
with him today. Stephen. Yes, Noel, it's been quite a | :01:53. | :02:03.
:02:03. | :02:04. | ||
journey for Darren, in more senses than one. First it was Graeme | :02:04. | :02:12.
McDowell, then Rory McIlroy, and now it Darren Clarke. Three major | :02:12. | :02:18.
winners in 13 months. At the age of 42, Darren Clarke was savouring his | :02:18. | :02:22.
triumph yesterday. He dedicated his victory to his late wife, Heather, | :02:22. | :02:31.
and his two young boys. We have been with him every step of the day. | :02:31. | :02:36.
The morning after the unforgettable night before. Darren Clarke was | :02:36. | :02:41.
back at the scene of his greatest triumph, still trying to let it all | :02:41. | :02:51.
:02:51. | :02:55. | ||
sink in. Look up there. It still there! High it is that feel? That's | :02:55. | :03:03.
OK. C the bit at the top, but the Open Championship? That is the | :03:03. | :03:07.
biggest and best tournament in the world. It is fantastic. Yesterday | :03:07. | :03:15.
he produced a wonderful display of golf. He had the odd bit of luck | :03:15. | :03:25.
:03:25. | :03:28. | ||
But he outplayed the best golfers in the world and by the 18th green | :03:28. | :03:35.
that there was plenty of time to enjoy his success. His family had | :03:35. | :03:40.
watched him every step of the way. A I can put it into words at the | :03:40. | :03:46.
moment. I'm delighted for him. The amount of work that he has put him | :03:46. | :03:50.
into the Gulf, the frustration he has had with nothing happening for | :03:50. | :03:55.
him, all this sudden it has come together. Just absent at the | :03:55. | :03:59.
awesome. The winner of the gold medal and the champion golfer of | :03:59. | :04:09.
:04:09. | :04:11. | ||
He has put the hard work into it and it is now paying off. If you | :04:11. | :04:17.
asked the guys around will Port Rush, he has been practising in all | :04:17. | :04:23.
weathers nearly every day. All week he has been very calm. Overall, he | :04:23. | :04:28.
has been grants. We have had an meal with him every night and he | :04:28. | :04:38.
was as relaxed as could be. How are you feeling? Very proud, very | :04:38. | :04:43.
excited. A what was it like to walk around those last few holes? | :04:43. | :04:50.
Brilliant, but there was so many people it was hard to see. Darren's | :04:50. | :04:54.
mum had a radio so she was able to give us a running commentary. | :04:54. | :04:58.
20 years of trying, Darren Clarke wins the greatest prize in world | :04:58. | :05:02.
golf to complete an unbelievable hat-trick of Northern Ireland Open | :05:02. | :05:12.
:05:12. | :05:15. | ||
The fans have not seen this one coming. This was a surprise 50th | :05:15. | :05:19.
birthday for me. What an achievement to come and see him. | :05:19. | :05:24.
could not believe it. I sat and that stand for six hours to wait | :05:24. | :05:32.
for him coming up. Unbelievable. Was it worth the wait? It was. | :05:32. | :05:38.
suppose your pot you were coming to see Rory McIlroy or Graham Goodall? | :05:39. | :05:44.
- - Graham McDowell. Yes, but this was unbelievable. A party was still | :05:44. | :05:53.
in full swing at 9 o'clock last night. Without much sleep, he | :05:53. | :06:03.
:06:03. | :06:04. | ||
touched down in Belfast at lunchtime today. Then he travelled | :06:04. | :06:09.
home to Port Rush. He told me this was the most memorable moment of | :06:09. | :06:17.
his life. Hand in the claret jug to his sons. It is all for them, not | :06:17. | :06:27.
:06:27. | :06:31. | ||
for me. Darren Clarke sharing that very intimate moment with us today. | :06:31. | :06:34.
Well, Darren is surely one of the most popular winners ever at the | :06:34. | :06:37.
Open. The public have been with him through the tragedy and the | :06:37. | :06:40.
triumphs he's had to come through over the last few years. Austin | :06:40. | :06:43.
O'Callaghan looks back. Darren Clarke grew up near Dungannon Golf | :06:43. | :06:45.
Club. He would spend his summers playing golf and more golf and more | :06:46. | :06:50.
golf. The mantelpiece at home quickly became cluttered with | :06:50. | :07:00.
:07:00. | :07:01. | ||
trophies. His victory over a young Dubliner named Paul McGinley to win | :07:01. | :07:04.
the North of Ireland amateur in will Portrush was a factor in his | :07:04. | :07:11.
decision to turn professional at the age of 22. Even back then he | :07:11. | :07:16.
predicted it would be a long road during a BBC interview. Patience is | :07:16. | :07:24.
going to be something will have to learn. I need to just wait for | :07:24. | :07:30.
things to happen. It did not take long for things to happen. His golf | :07:30. | :07:35.
give him victories and a taste of the high life. He has amassed 14 | :07:35. | :07:39.
wins on the professional tour, one of the highlight beating Tiger | :07:39. | :07:43.
Woods, then at the peak of his Paris in the World Matchplay final | :07:43. | :07:48.
in California. He isn't your conventional elite sportsmen. He | :07:48. | :07:56.
smokes and he enjoys a drink. Yet, the want Commission had always been | :07:56. | :08:01.
a major victory. He came close a couple of times, famously he would | :08:01. | :08:07.
name a racehorse after the miss hit tee shot during the Open | :08:07. | :08:11.
Championship of 1997 at Royal Troon, which cost him victory. But shank | :08:11. | :08:21.
:08:21. | :08:23. | ||
on 14 didn't win many races! His temperament was at times the | :08:23. | :08:28.
focus of attention, especially after a bad round of golf. Pity the | :08:28. | :08:32.
poor sports reporter who had asked a question, any chance of a few | :08:32. | :08:38.
words? It is perhaps - - it perhaps reflected his passion for the sport, | :08:38. | :08:43.
never more evident in 2006 just weeks after losing his wife to | :08:43. | :08:47.
breast cancer. He made an emotional return to the golf course helping | :08:47. | :08:52.
Europe retained the Ryder Cup at the K Club. He has competed in five | :08:52. | :08:56.
consecutive Ryder Cups, with teen gossip and to bring out the best in | :08:56. | :09:00.
him. His non-playing captain shall at Celtic Manor last year suggested | :09:00. | :09:03.
that the best of his playing days might be behind him, but that | :09:03. | :09:13.
:09:13. | :09:13. | ||
statement may now have to be revised. | :09:13. | :09:16.
In the hours after his triumph last night, Darren celebrated back at | :09:16. | :09:19.
his base just outside the course in Sandwich. He spoke to me | :09:19. | :09:22.
exclusively for Newsline. The fact he was the 2011 Open Champion still | :09:22. | :09:25.
hadn't quite sunk in. It is a bit weird. From the first day and | :09:26. | :09:29.
lifted a club I have been trying to do this, to try to win a major, but | :09:29. | :09:35.
not just any major, but the Open, the biggest and best of all of them. | :09:35. | :09:41.
To actually come here and win the Open on this course is wonderful. | :09:41. | :09:45.
Some golfers have almost been handed an Open Championship, but | :09:45. | :09:50.
the stallion one up in you must be thrilled? I put myself under | :09:50. | :09:54.
position. There were lots of people in the press-room questioning if I | :09:54. | :10:00.
could stay there. I 16 weeks ago so I have been playing OK. I am old | :10:00. | :10:05.
enough and wiser than I have been, and I was, and I felt comfortable | :10:05. | :10:13.
all day. I was in total control. It was quite difficult because I was | :10:13. | :10:16.
ahead for most of the rounds and that was caught in between | :10:16. | :10:21.
attacking in trying to play sensible. I made a wonderful eagle | :10:21. | :10:24.
on the 7th, then it was a case of don't be making too many mistakes | :10:24. | :10:28.
and that other people come and try to catch me. I wasn't going up too | :10:28. | :10:33.
many flights and was just trying to play smart, which always - - hasn't | :10:33. | :10:39.
always been one of my strengths! I got on to the 17th tee and had a | :10:39. | :10:46.
four-shot lead. I knew I couldn't do anything stupid. How much did | :10:46. | :10:52.
you enjoy the walk up the 18th, to be crowned the Open champion? | :10:52. | :10:55.
Whenever I have my second shot of the edge of the green I figured I | :10:55. | :11:00.
had four putts from there and I could handle that! The support I | :11:00. | :11:04.
had all week has been incredible, to have that many people wish me | :11:04. | :11:11.
well as just been fantastic. emotional time for you as well, of | :11:11. | :11:16.
a seat thinking about Heather as well. Obviously. Heather was | :11:16. | :11:22.
looking down at me saying I told you so! I have got Alison out | :11:22. | :11:27.
telling me you can do it, you can do it. I have been very lucky to | :11:27. | :11:34.
have two wonderful ladies. I was thinking about Heather, but the | :11:34. | :11:37.
bigger side of things is she would be very proud of the two boys and | :11:37. | :11:42.
that is more important than any golf tournament. Darren Clarke, a | :11:42. | :11:47.
very happy man. That is it from Port Rush at the moment. I'll be | :11:47. | :11:51.
back later to discuss the possibility of this famous horse - | :11:51. | :11:55.
- famous course holding a big tournament. | :11:55. | :11:57.
The mother of a Londonderry teenager who is missing presumed | :11:58. | :12:00.
drowned in Lough Swilly in County Donegal has told BBC Newsline she | :12:01. | :12:04.
is devastated at the loss of her only son. Sean McNair, from Creggan | :12:04. | :12:07.
in Derry, was larking around with some mates on the pier on | :12:07. | :12:09.
Rathmullan during birthday celebrations when they decided to | :12:09. | :12:13.
jump in. But the 17-year-old was caught up in strong currents and | :12:13. | :12:20.
has not been seen since. Here's our North-West reporter, Keiron Tourish. | :12:21. | :12:25.
Comforted by friends, Jackie McNair can only wait for news on the | :12:25. | :12:30.
shoreline. For her, the past few days have been horrendous. Her only | :12:30. | :12:36.
son, 17-year-old Sean McNair, told her he loved her last week as he | :12:36. | :12:39.
set off injured but the celebrations in the popular seaside | :12:39. | :12:44.
resort. It all turned to tragedy in the early are as of Saturday | :12:44. | :12:49.
morning. The boys, with the drink and then, decided they would have a | :12:49. | :12:54.
bit of fun and that they would jump of the peer. Whenever he tried to | :12:54. | :13:03.
get back, he could not. The current to come. Jason tried to see a 10, | :13:03. | :13:12.
but he couldn't hold on to him. Ryan also jumped in, his friend, to | :13:12. | :13:19.
help him. The current just to come. After an appeal for volunteers, | :13:19. | :13:24.
several hundred people turned up to help in a shoreline search this | :13:24. | :13:28.
afternoon. The operation was restricted to the ground as driving | :13:28. | :13:33.
rain and gale-force winds hampered the scale of the search. It is | :13:33. | :13:37.
impressive the number of people who have turned up, especially with the | :13:37. | :13:41.
conditions. We will do as much as we can and keep it limited because | :13:41. | :13:45.
we don't want any more casualties due to the weather. Local people | :13:45. | :13:50.
said that this tragedy has that the entire community. We had the | :13:50. | :13:53.
funfair here and this in is the tragedy happened we just closed a | :13:54. | :13:58.
last war we could do to help. We are devastated. There is a dark | :13:58. | :14:02.
cloud hanging over this area at the moment, but the response has been | :14:02. | :14:09.
tremendous. People yesterday did not want to intrude on the family's | :14:09. | :14:14.
grief, but they wanted to the do something. Yesterday there were | :14:14. | :14:19.
making sandwiches and Sepang so one and today they have an opportunity | :14:19. | :14:23.
of an organised search. For a mother traumatised but the events | :14:23. | :14:28.
of the weekend, at the moment there is no end to her pain. Just to get | :14:28. | :14:32.
him out of the water and home. But just one delay interest. It'll be | :14:32. | :14:39.
so hard to do what I have to do. I don't know how I I will do it. Will | :14:39. | :14:46.
need all the support I can get. He is looking down on me and I hope he | :14:46. | :14:51.
is going to give me strength to do all I have to do. A difficult time. | :14:51. | :14:56.
Offal, offal. I never thought I would be burying my son. I would | :14:56. | :15:02.
Still to come on the programme: The portrait of the Queen in Dublin | :15:02. | :15:06.
which will soon be part of her famous collection. | :15:06. | :15:09.
And celebrations as Donegal win the Ulster championship for the first | :15:09. | :15:18.
time in 19 years. The Secretary of State has told | :15:18. | :15:21.
families of those killed in the Kingsmills massacre in 1976 that he | :15:21. | :15:24.
will not call on the police to reopen the investigation into the | :15:24. | :15:28.
murders. He spoke to some of the families this morning following | :15:28. | :15:30.
last month's report by the Historical Enquires Team which | :15:30. | :15:33.
found that the IRA was responsible for the sectarian murder of 10 | :15:33. | :15:37.
Protestant workmen. Mr Paterson said he could not override the | :15:37. | :15:41.
operational independence of the police. Families also met Assistant | :15:41. | :15:45.
Chief Constable Drew Harris. He agreed to study a file handed over | :15:45. | :15:54.
by the families and agreed to meet them again in six weeks. | :15:54. | :15:58.
At the end of the day, all we want is someone to have the common | :15:58. | :16:02.
decency and courage to come back with us and give us information. We | :16:02. | :16:06.
have had nothing through the years. Something is better than nothing. I | :16:07. | :16:11.
don't care what it is but someone has to take responsibility of | :16:11. | :16:15.
Kingsmills and what happened and it has never been done before. Now is | :16:15. | :16:19.
the right time for that to be done. It was almost universally hailed as | :16:19. | :16:22.
one of the most significant moments in the troubled history of Britain | :16:22. | :16:25.
and Ireland and now the Queen's visit to Dublin this summer has | :16:25. | :16:28.
been immortalised on canvas. The Queen has accepted the gift of a | :16:28. | :16:31.
painting marking her state visit by Michael Hanrahan. It makes him the | :16:31. | :16:34.
second living Irish artist in the Royal Collection, one of the | :16:34. | :16:44.
world's most valuable. On display in Dublin but bound for | :16:44. | :16:46.
Buckingham Palace because the Queen has accepted a gift of a painting | :16:46. | :16:51.
from this artist, the only painter granted access to cover the state | :16:51. | :16:56.
visit. I wrote to the palace, explained who I was and I had been | :16:56. | :17:00.
accredited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and cent of the | :17:00. | :17:04.
letter telling them I had done seven paintings and I would love to | :17:04. | :17:09.
donate one to her Majesty. It was such a fantastic visit. The Queen's | :17:09. | :17:13.
deputy private secretary replied. couldn't believe my eyes, it said | :17:13. | :17:18.
the Queen would be very pleased to accept my painting. It makes him | :17:18. | :17:22.
one of two living Irish artists represented in the British Royal | :17:22. | :17:27.
Collection. A painting is so different from a photograph and | :17:27. | :17:33.
that what makes it unique. The painting just gives you that much | :17:33. | :17:37.
more and is that much more special. The painting has also impressed the | :17:37. | :17:44.
public. It is lovely and great that somebody local has captured the | :17:44. | :17:48.
moment and it was really a wonderful time, we were so excited | :17:48. | :17:51.
to see the Queen over here. garden of remembrance commemorates | :17:51. | :17:56.
those who died in pursuit of Irish independence. The wreath-laying | :17:56. | :18:03.
ceremony was an emotionally charged moment. It was a moment of | :18:03. | :18:08.
reconciliation, of respect for each other's death and a very important | :18:08. | :18:14.
moment. For both the Queen and President, this is very special. | :18:14. | :18:19.
The Queen has got it now. Michael is planning to deliver the painting | :18:19. | :18:26.
in prison. I think our children's children will look back on this, | :18:26. | :18:29.
when the Queen touched down and one of the hearts of thousands of Irish | :18:29. | :18:34.
people and I am the painter and my painting goes and hangs in | :18:34. | :18:38.
Buckingham Palace. I can't do any better than that! | :18:38. | :18:41.
Back now to Portrush where the Royal Golf Club is preparing for a | :18:41. | :18:44.
big party tomorrow to mark Darren Clarke's Open success. But will it | :18:44. | :18:48.
have any lasting impact on the town, can we expect hordes of visitors to | :18:48. | :18:50.
Northern Ireland now Darren has become our third major's champion | :18:50. | :18:58.
in just over a year. Natasha Sayee is on the north coast. | :18:58. | :19:04.
Freshly printed posters already out of date, a course now there's | :19:04. | :19:07.
another big win to add to the list. This is where Darren Clarke | :19:07. | :19:12.
finessed his game, on a weather beaten greens at Royal Portrush. | :19:12. | :19:17.
What does a third major champion do for Northern Ireland Tourism? | :19:17. | :19:19.
Because we have had the concentration of the championship, | :19:19. | :19:22.
it means there is a real interest in Northern Ireland and Jess, they | :19:22. | :19:27.
will want to come to the courses that will pour crash that they will | :19:27. | :19:31.
also want to go to Dungannon and to the courses were people started and | :19:31. | :19:35.
that is a real boost for tourism. We have never had reliable weather | :19:35. | :19:39.
but playing for years in the wind and rain may have helped Darren | :19:39. | :19:43.
Clarke win at the weekend and is actually part of the appeal with | :19:43. | :19:45.
golfers from across the world setting themselves against the | :19:45. | :19:51.
elements today. We're touring Ireland and playing golf. It is | :19:51. | :19:56.
lovely weather, as you can see! We're looking forward to it. Coming | :19:56. | :20:00.
from sunny Singapore, this is unusual. It is wonderful that | :20:01. | :20:05.
Darren Clarke won so we were hoping to be able it to catch him. He will | :20:05. | :20:09.
be around tomorrow so we will have to go out there and catch a game in | :20:09. | :20:16.
this lovely weather. Being Irish myself, and so proud of the Irish. | :20:16. | :20:22.
I think it is fantastic for a small country to have three champions, is | :20:22. | :20:25.
absolutely wonderful. It is not as the tourists who are excited, there | :20:25. | :20:34.
is a real feeling of confidence at Royal Portrush. Could it host the | :20:34. | :20:40.
Open again? It is not just about the golf course, is about the | :20:40. | :20:43.
infrastructure. This set me would be room for the tented village in | :20:43. | :20:48.
Portrush. Would it be that commercial success it? Very | :20:48. | :20:55.
important to us. But we're not stupid, we hear the emotion, we | :20:55. | :20:58.
hear the pressure and we were to deliver it. The open possibly on | :20:58. | :21:02.
the cards then but there is a sense here that the decision-makers need | :21:02. | :21:06.
to seize the moment. Three airports are all within an hour, you have | :21:06. | :21:12.
very access from could Britain, he have many hotels and properties, | :21:12. | :21:17.
you have highways that are fabulous. There is no reason, a fantastic | :21:18. | :21:21.
club house and facilities at Royal Portrush, one of the finest links | :21:21. | :21:26.
in the world. Why shouldn't the open be held here? I hope it is | :21:26. | :21:30.
held sooner rather than later. could be a decade or more before | :21:30. | :21:35.
the Open is hosted here. So, that gets us plenty of time to update | :21:35. | :21:39.
our road signs. Back to Royal Portrush now where | :21:39. | :21:42.
Stephen Watson has heard word of potentially exciting news for the | :21:42. | :21:51.
venue. Nerves have been afoot today to try | :21:51. | :21:54.
and secured a big tournament here for Royal Portrush, I am joined by | :21:55. | :22:00.
the past captain, what can you tell us? Everybody here is absolutely | :22:00. | :22:05.
delighted with Darren Clarke's success and Rory McIlory and Graeme | :22:05. | :22:08.
McDowell as well but obviously, we are looking very seriously at the | :22:08. | :22:12.
prospect of a major professional tournament coming here to Royal | :22:12. | :22:19.
Portrush. Obviously, the long-term ambition of many of us here, we | :22:19. | :22:23.
would all love to see the Open Championship return to Royal | :22:23. | :22:27.
Portrush. As a starter, and Irish Open here would be fantastic. You | :22:27. | :22:31.
have had government ministers here today and are expecting Martin | :22:31. | :22:35.
McGuinness tomorrow, can we expect some big news? Again, the | :22:35. | :22:41.
government ministers have been here, they're all very excited about the | :22:41. | :22:45.
prospects for Northern Ireland, in terms of how we ever going to | :22:45. | :22:49.
promote ourselves around the world and nothing could be more exciting, | :22:49. | :22:53.
nothing in our minds could be better than to host a top-class | :22:53. | :22:56.
professional golf tournament. have had big golf tournaments here | :22:56. | :23:00.
before but surely we have got to strike now won the and is hot - | :23:00. | :23:03.
three major champions in the space of 13 months, it is crying out for | :23:03. | :23:09.
a major tournament. These are quite remarkable times. Find nobody | :23:09. | :23:12.
really wants to get ahead of themselves, we listened with great | :23:13. | :23:19.
interest to Peter Dawson Bosworth interview yesterday on the BBC. | :23:19. | :23:22.
They are also going to look seriously at the prospects of | :23:22. | :23:26.
bringing the open back across the Irish Sea and they will certainly | :23:26. | :23:33.
receive a very warm welcome. Thank you very much indeed. Back now to | :23:33. | :23:38.
the studio. Gaelic football - the last time | :23:38. | :23:42.
Donegal won the Ulster Championship, it was 1992. Since then they have | :23:42. | :23:52.
:23:52. | :23:55. | ||
lost five finals and endured 19 years of heartache until yesterday. | :23:55. | :23:59.
It is done and dusted, they have delivered. The day belongs to | :23:59. | :24:05.
Donegal! Some say the provincial championships have lost their | :24:05. | :24:10.
appeal but the players and the people of Donegal beg to differ. A | :24:10. | :24:14.
drought spanning two decades ended yesterday and resulted in 22 year- | :24:14. | :24:19.
old Michael Murphy becoming only the 5th Donegal man to lift the | :24:19. | :24:29.
:24:29. | :24:32. | ||
Anglo sold Cup. We started off playing hard against Derry. They | :24:32. | :24:40.
really hit it and brought us back. Maybe it turn things at the start | :24:40. | :24:44.
of the second have so we're just delighted and relieved. | :24:44. | :24:48.
controversial turning point came immediately after half-time. Danny | :24:48. | :24:52.
Devon colliding with Michael Murphy and the referee awarded a penalty. | :24:52. | :24:59.
The Derry players were incensed but Murphy hit the net many he has won | :24:59. | :25:04.
as both a player and a manager. always loved this championship, I | :25:04. | :25:09.
felt that we never won enough down to the years and it is my | :25:09. | :25:13.
phenomenal to be a part of this management team that is continuing | :25:13. | :25:19.
to taking this championship to Donegal. That enjoyment is clear | :25:19. | :25:25.
for all to see as Donegal are also's first side into the 2011 All | :25:25. | :25:35.
:25:35. | :25:38. | ||
Ireland quarter-finals. It is looking drier for the rest of | :25:38. | :25:44.
the week. The weather has been awful really yesterday and today. | :25:44. | :25:48.
There are still in the middle of July but the chart we have at the | :25:48. | :25:53.
moment doesn't belong in the middle of July. I expect to see this chart | :25:53. | :26:01.
in autumn. This is the low pressure and brings with it plenty of cool | :26:01. | :26:06.
and cloudy skies. Most of the rain has now moved away, still some | :26:06. | :26:09.
dampness to come in places this evening, particularly in the West | :26:09. | :26:14.
and up towards them of coast. A hint of brightness across Belfast | :26:14. | :26:18.
and eased down but otherwise, bits and pieces of rain coming into the | :26:18. | :26:23.
night. Still a breeze in places tonight as well, especially along | :26:23. | :26:26.
the north coast. That will continue to be a feature of the weather | :26:26. | :26:31.
tomorrow. Dragging a lot of cloud of the North Atlantic but the main | :26:31. | :26:35.
thing is, it will be a much drier day compared to today. They still | :26:35. | :26:39.
could be one of two shires especially in the north coast and | :26:39. | :26:44.
that may feed through for the sad but was this will stay dry. Because | :26:44. | :26:47.
of the north-west to the wind, there's more chance of seeing a | :26:47. | :26:53.
little bit of sunshine, the best of any temperatures up to 17 degrees | :26:53. | :26:57.
but more typically 15 or 16, well below average for the time of year | :26:57. | :27:01.
but it is a little bit better than today. Many places at least will be | :27:01. | :27:06.
much drier compared to today. That killed, cloudy weather will | :27:06. | :27:10.
continue to tomorrow evening and on Wednesday, we still have that | :27:10. | :27:14.
northerly breeze so still a fair bit of cloud. Some sunshine here | :27:14. | :27:18.
and there. Temperatures very slowly coming up just a little bit. We | :27:18. | :27:23.
should get more sunshine by the time we get a thirsty. Maybe the | :27:23. | :27:26.
best day of the week but with temperatures creeping up a little | :27:26. | :27:31.
bit, they are likely to see some more rain. Temperatures still on | :27:31. | :27:38.
the cool side but at least it is getting drier. | :27:38. | :27:42.
They headlines: Darren Clarke is back home after winning the Open | :27:42. | :27:46.
Championship, he is only the second offer from Northern Ireland to win | :27:46. | :27:50.
the famous trophy. Volunteers have been helping in the | :27:50. | :27:53.
search for a teenager from Londonderry who went missing after | :27:53. | :27:58. |
