Good evening. This is BBC Newsline with Donna Traynor and Sarah | :00:12. | :00:16.
Travers. The headlines this Thursday evening. Students | :00:16. | :00:21.
celebrate A level passes, but the number of top grades is down. With | :00:21. | :00:23.
an uncertain economic outlook, we'll look at the options for the | :00:23. | :00:32.
next step. I am live on the Gerona Armagh border were thieves have | :00:32. | :00:36.
left dozens of homes and businesses without by the telephone or | :00:36. | :00:41.
internet connections. A knife attack on a horse leaves its owners | :00:41. | :00:48.
stunned. Any body that would have the notion to come out with the | :00:48. | :00:53.
knife and abuse an animal? What is wrong with them? I'm live with | :00:53. | :00:56.
friends and family of the Fermanagh Gaelic footballer who's beginning a | :00:56. | :01:04.
long road to recovery in the US. isn't too late to catch some | :01:04. | :01:07.
sunshine this evening. Make the most of it - I will tell you why | :01:07. | :01:15.
later... The wait is finally over for thousands of young people and | :01:15. | :01:18.
their families, with the publication of the A level results | :01:18. | :01:21.
today. This year the statistics tell a changing story. We've become | :01:21. | :01:23.
accustomed to seeing grades rise year after year and although the | :01:23. | :01:27.
overall pass rate is the same, the performance in high grades is not | :01:27. | :01:30.
as good as previous years. One principal has told us an end to | :01:30. | :01:33.
inflated grades will make the results more respected. Our | :01:33. | :01:43.
education correspondent, Maggie Taggart, reports. As students | :01:43. | :01:47.
collect their results, statistics show that Northern Ireland pupils | :01:47. | :01:52.
did better than the average across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. | :01:52. | :01:58.
84% of exams earned a good result compared to 76% across the regions. | :01:58. | :02:03.
However, after years of improving performances, the higher grades are | :02:03. | :02:08.
slipping. The Education Minister says it is too early to panic. | :02:08. | :02:12.
there is any worrying trend, we have to see what action we can take | :02:12. | :02:17.
but it is far too early to suggest that we are on a downward trend. | :02:17. | :02:22.
the secondary school, all pupils got at least two passes with a | :02:22. | :02:24.
healthy share of top marks but the principle isn't complaining about | :02:24. | :02:29.
the overall slip in grades. I am not disappointed and it does add | :02:29. | :02:33.
value, people then have more faith in the results if there isn't | :02:33. | :02:39.
simply a great number of pupils getting nothing but a and B. A gap | :02:39. | :02:41.
year between leaving school and starting university has been | :02:41. | :02:46.
fashionable recently but with the increase in fees in universities | :02:46. | :02:50.
outside Northern Ireland, 2012 means not many are not taking that | :02:50. | :02:53.
action. This puts pressure on places and some courses are asking | :02:53. | :02:58.
for better grades. The course I went for had a lower grades last | :02:58. | :03:04.
year. I will have to do a lot more work than I had to do. Before I | :03:04. | :03:10.
started a levels, it has moved up a lot. Those going into a level | :03:10. | :03:13.
shortly can be assured the fees in Northern Ireland will not go up | :03:13. | :03:17.
dramatically but it's a different story in England, Wales and | :03:17. | :03:20.
Scotland and they will face higher bills if they go there. I might | :03:20. | :03:24.
stay here because of the fees and the thought of lots of debt scares | :03:24. | :03:29.
me because you have to pay it back. The recession brings another | :03:29. | :03:33.
problem and it affects the choices of programmes. This year and last | :03:33. | :03:36.
year, there have been more vocational courses were at the end | :03:36. | :03:41.
of three or four years at university they will have a career. | :03:41. | :03:44.
I would imagine, that is down to the issue around student fees and | :03:44. | :03:51.
the expense. Good morning... the first time this year, the local | :03:51. | :03:58.
at Sam's body published results online from 7am. 20,000 pupils were | :03:58. | :04:01.
eligible to do that and there was a good response of a song called the | :04:02. | :04:07.
helpline for advice on how to log on. Here, the girls could have gone | :04:07. | :04:11.
online to get their results this morning but there is strength and | :04:11. | :04:15.
comfort in numbers and many opted to come to school to get the news | :04:16. | :04:19.
in the company of friends and teachers. I did not really like | :04:19. | :04:23.
that, I wanted to have the envelope and be able to take it out and see. | :04:23. | :04:29.
I did not want to look at a screen. I came with friends. To have the | :04:29. | :04:34.
experience of meeting the teachers and saying thank you. The website | :04:34. | :04:38.
which tells students if they have been accepted for the first-choice | :04:38. | :04:44.
course was disrupted this morning but has now been repaired. Of | :04:44. | :04:47.
course, not all students want to go to university. Further Education | :04:47. | :04:49.
colleges also offer degree courses and training as the next step. | :04:49. | :04:52.
Hundreds of students have been filing through the corridors of the | :04:52. | :04:55.
Belfast Met to find out what's available there, as Natasha Sayee | :04:55. | :05:01.
reports. The college opened its doors this morning for a special | :05:01. | :05:04.
advice day and there was a steady stream of students who needed just | :05:04. | :05:10.
that. I was disappointed with my results so I applied to get back to | :05:10. | :05:15.
school. I am waiting on the court so I came here to enrol in a couple | :05:15. | :05:21.
of courses to keep my options open. I wanted to see what was on offer | :05:21. | :05:26.
because I am not sure what I want to do it at the moment. I am just | :05:26. | :05:29.
here to find out what they have on offer and hopefully come here | :05:29. | :05:36.
eventually. I want to do more A- levels but I was really nervous so | :05:36. | :05:41.
I had Abbey in drama and a C in media studies, that's the best I | :05:41. | :05:47.
could do. As well as a more stoic, there were plenty of red eyes and | :05:47. | :05:53.
tears and worried parents. The message is that all isn't lost. | :05:53. | :05:56.
have a massive range of vocational courses in the college and that | :05:56. | :06:02.
will train someone for employment in terms of whenever the recession | :06:02. | :06:07.
is over, we have people coming back into employment and in terms of | :06:07. | :06:12.
volume of courses we have, we have courses in catering, hairdressing, | :06:12. | :06:15.
so it's important that people remain in education and they get | :06:15. | :06:20.
that level of support. University isn't always the answer, there are | :06:20. | :06:26.
lots of other options. I underling horticulture part-time next year | :06:26. | :06:31.
and hopefully will go on to do more of that. I just realised that | :06:31. | :06:36.
university isn't the best option for me. The Belfast Met says it has | :06:36. | :06:39.
all sorts of places available and will be holding another advice day | :06:39. | :06:45.
next week. With me now is Michelle Markem, former principal of St | :06:45. | :06:51.
Joseph's College in South Belfast, who's now an education commentator. | :06:51. | :06:54.
Some young people have got want they want and know where they are | :06:54. | :07:00.
heading. There is still the impression that university is the | :07:00. | :07:04.
be all and end all? That is a legacy of our high quality | :07:04. | :07:11.
education. And the approach to the value. But we have now established | :07:11. | :07:14.
that there are many other ways to get a good education than simply | :07:14. | :07:20.
going directly to university. The Belfast Met was offering a wide | :07:20. | :07:23.
range of courses and other further- education colleges offer further | :07:23. | :07:28.
and higher education courses which have great baggy and they are a | :07:28. | :07:31.
stepping-stone to university for those people who just cannot go | :07:31. | :07:36.
directly. Yesterday I spoke to graduates who had done mostly arts | :07:36. | :07:40.
degrees and found they are now working in coffee shops and pubs, | :07:40. | :07:44.
they have not got their chosen field. Should the choice of | :07:44. | :07:49.
subjects and the course happen much earlier in school? There is debate | :07:49. | :07:53.
about this because the American model is due to the primary degree | :07:53. | :07:57.
and decide vocational attitudes afterwards but here, my argument is | :07:57. | :08:03.
that any degree for its intrinsic worth and development of thinking | :08:03. | :08:07.
skills, is incredibly valuable and after that you should see what you | :08:07. | :08:11.
really want to do. I am not sure that apart from things in medicine | :08:11. | :08:15.
and dentistry, the argument is about having to be vocational from | :08:15. | :08:20.
the age of 18. I think that gap years are excellent ways of finding | :08:20. | :08:24.
out what your attitude is and gaining life experience and putting | :08:24. | :08:33.
that on your CV. The Bills have to be paid. It is very difficult for | :08:33. | :08:39.
parents to finance their children? It is and this is about how society | :08:39. | :08:43.
views education and its value and the issue of fees in Northern | :08:43. | :08:46.
Ireland is going to indicate whether or not without the | :08:46. | :08:50.
education highly enough. If we want to have a highly skilled workforce, | :08:50. | :08:53.
and that will not be based on how we learnt livings through | :08:53. | :08:58.
manufacturing any longer, it will be intellectual industries and we | :08:58. | :09:02.
need an highly-skilled workforce and if we decide you want that, we | :09:02. | :09:07.
have to encourage young people by working at the minimum fee for | :09:07. | :09:12.
university. The argument about paying us back when they earn isn't | :09:12. | :09:17.
for me a good enough argument. is a big argument that we could | :09:17. | :09:24.
spend a lot of time on but thank you very much for life. Thank you. | :09:24. | :09:27.
We've pulled together a list of some websites that might be useful | :09:27. | :09:30.
in relation to A levels and what comes next. You'll find them on our | :09:30. | :09:34.
Facebook page. You can also get in touch with us on Twitter or by | :09:34. | :09:40.
email. Next to County Tyrone, where there has been serious but unusual | :09:40. | :09:43.
disruption to the telephone service. To explain why, let's join our | :09:43. | :09:53.
:09:53. | :09:54. | ||
district journalist, Gordon Adair. So what's happened, Gordon? | :09:54. | :09:57.
isn't unusual for disruption to the phone service, it does happen but | :09:57. | :10:03.
what is unusual about this is the reason why. Sometime early | :10:03. | :10:09.
yesterday morning it seems that I go the thieves climbed this poll | :10:09. | :10:13.
and everyone like it along the road, cut the cables and made off with it. | :10:13. | :10:18.
It has caused inconvenience with phones and businesses and a minute | :10:18. | :10:24.
or so before we went to air, people said we want Facebook back! And | :10:24. | :10:31.
that's not the only problem. Yesterday, this 300 metre stretch | :10:31. | :10:35.
of quiet rural road on the Tyrone Armagh border became a very | :10:35. | :10:40.
unlikely crime scene. Some time in the early hours, thieves somehow | :10:40. | :10:44.
cut down and made off with the telephone cable that ran alongside | :10:44. | :10:49.
the road. The result has been a busy today is for BT. And a | :10:49. | :10:56.
nightmare for homes and companies. Companies like Muldoon ensuring who | :10:57. | :11:01.
depend on phones and the intranet to keep the business ticking over. | :11:01. | :11:08.
It isn't just the phones, it is the internet for e-mail and faxes. Even | :11:08. | :11:11.
both of our factories, the computer system is linked to the internet | :11:11. | :11:16.
and that has been put to bed. We had to move staff to the other yard | :11:16. | :11:26.
:11:26. | :11:38. | ||
in order to carry out their tasks. Well, you are wondering... Why | :11:38. | :11:43.
would someone steal telephone cables? Copper fetches a very high | :11:43. | :11:48.
price at the moment, and one man I spoke to locally told me that | :11:48. | :11:53.
earlier this week someone had driven into his yard with a trailer | :11:53. | :11:57.
and filled with scrap copper and he wanted the trailer repaired at he | :11:57. | :12:01.
said he would repair that but he said he would come back after | :12:01. | :12:06.
selling the copper and he came back, 6 ft by 4 ft, and he came back with | :12:06. | :12:11.
a cheque for 4,200. So the high price is temptation enough for | :12:11. | :12:15.
thieves to be ever more vigilant. Apologies, I don't know if the | :12:15. | :12:21.
thieves stole part of that report! Sorry about that. You're watching | :12:21. | :12:24.
BBC Newsline, still to come on the programme. 60 jobs go as another | :12:24. | :12:27.
big-name store closes its doors. The Aussies are coming. Northern | :12:27. | :12:37.
Ireland secures its first Olympic team base. There's been another | :12:37. | :12:40.
blow to the local economy with the news that the TJ Hughes department | :12:40. | :12:43.
store in North Belfast is to close its doors this weekend with the | :12:43. | :12:48.
loss of more than 60 jobs. It's the latest big-name casualty on the | :12:48. | :12:56.
High Street, as our business correspondent, Kevin Magee, reports. | :12:56. | :13:00.
This is the latest casualty of the downturn, the TJ Hughes discount | :13:00. | :13:03.
store in North Belfast. It joins a long line of well-known names that | :13:03. | :13:07.
are disappearing from the High Street. The locally owned | :13:07. | :13:11.
electrical goods chain Lisa went under under stiff competition and | :13:11. | :13:15.
the music retailer is Abbey also crashed as consumers and online. | :13:15. | :13:21.
And will Wednesfield as the product range lost focus. 54 TJ Hughes | :13:21. | :13:25.
stores across the UK will close. For have been sold but a reprieve | :13:25. | :13:32.
for the Belfast shop is unlikely. At the 11th hour, we do not know. | :13:32. | :13:37.
There is a possibility of discussions and decisions, I am not | :13:37. | :13:40.
aware of those at this moment. Today's retail spending figures | :13:40. | :13:45.
give further evidence that consumers remain under pressure. | :13:45. | :13:48.
When prices and costs rise, shoppers do not have as much money | :13:48. | :13:54.
to spend. The much more careful about how they spend that and when | :13:54. | :14:00.
confidence is low, the retail sector is the first to suffer. The | :14:00. | :14:02.
chain failed in its aim to dominate the discount end of the market. | :14:02. | :14:08.
Some say it had passed its sell-by date. They were reaching the 100 | :14:09. | :14:12.
your point in their life cycle and some retailers these days are able | :14:12. | :14:17.
to risk -- exist that long. Marks and Spencers and Sainsbury's have | :14:17. | :14:21.
exceeded that but like humans, retailers have a life expectancy, | :14:21. | :14:25.
and very few reach 100. 64 people will be let go in the shutters come | :14:25. | :14:30.
down this weekend. It'll be a jobs blow that North Belfast cannot | :14:30. | :14:39.
A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with raping a man. It | :14:39. | :14:43.
used to cannot be identified for legal reasons was arrested in | :14:43. | :14:48.
England on Tuesday. The charges relate to incident so that took | :14:48. | :14:54.
place in hotels, private addresses and secure locations. The judge | :14:54. | :14:59.
reported restricted reporting for genuine concerns of the accused. | :14:59. | :15:02.
Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody. | :15:02. | :15:06.
The owner of a horse which suffered serious knife wounds says he was | :15:06. | :15:09.
threatened by the teenage gang who carried out the attack in | :15:10. | :15:14.
Londonderry. The vet he treated the horse says he is appalled at what | :15:14. | :15:17.
happened but says cruelty to animals is becoming more and more | :15:17. | :15:25.
common. Patches a five-year-old mare is now | :15:25. | :15:28.
recovering from her horrendous injuries. She was graining on her | :15:28. | :15:32.
owner's land when a dozen young people with hooded tops called her | :15:32. | :15:37.
over to a fence and cut her with a knife. The owner says the youths | :15:37. | :15:46.
also be threatened him. challenged them. One had a knife on | :15:46. | :15:51.
him. God knows what they would have done to May. If they can do that to | :15:51. | :15:58.
an animal, what would they do to a human. The vet was unable to stitch | :15:58. | :16:02.
the card. He is currently treating the horse with iodine to cleanse | :16:02. | :16:09.
the area infected. The course will also receive regular injections. | :16:09. | :16:16.
is becoming more common. I cannot understand why young people have | :16:16. | :16:22.
nothing better to do. Cruelty to animals is becoming more common. I | :16:22. | :16:28.
have not seen that many horses, but we have seen a few dogs mistreated. | :16:28. | :16:33.
In my experience, almost 40 years in practice, cruelty is becoming | :16:33. | :16:39.
more common. The owner's mother says patches is popular with local | :16:39. | :16:45.
children who regularly feed her through the fence. Anybody would | :16:45. | :16:52.
have the notion to come out with a knife and abuse and animal, what is | :16:52. | :17:01.
wrong with them? What is wrong with them? Residents of this area say | :17:01. | :17:04.
there is an ongoing problem with anti-social behaviour. They say | :17:04. | :17:09.
every weekend, groups of young people gather here to drink and | :17:09. | :17:12.
cause a general nuisance. They want something done about the situation | :17:12. | :17:19.
urgently. Now to the story we have been | :17:19. | :17:23.
following of the young Fermanagh footballer who was in a coma for | :17:23. | :17:28.
more than a month one injured in a match in San Francisco. An incident | :17:28. | :17:32.
left Mark McGovern with serious head injuries. This evening, | :17:32. | :17:36.
friends and family in his home village are holding an event as he | :17:36. | :17:46.
continues his recovery in the US. Thomas Niblock is live in Blacklion. | :17:46. | :17:50.
I am here where there is a fund raising event taking place here to | :17:50. | :18:00.
nine. A couple of Gentleman would bite to speak to. Sean, you are | :18:00. | :18:04.
organising the fund raising. Mark was a very -- very close to death. | :18:04. | :18:11.
How is the recovering? Mark lay motionless for five weeks in the | :18:11. | :18:16.
hospital in San Francisco and is now out of the coma. He is starting | :18:16. | :18:20.
to talk slowly and starting to learn to walk again, but it is a | :18:20. | :18:27.
long way off, a full recovery is a long way off. Brain injuries, the | :18:27. | :18:36.
best of care is a century -- essential. It is a fund-raising | :18:36. | :18:42.
event tonight. I have heard the figure of $1.2 million to help mark. | :18:42. | :18:48.
How difficult is it to raise that? It is a big amount but the amount | :18:48. | :18:53.
of good will we have had from all sections of the community, the fact | :18:53. | :19:01.
that Mark has got this far based on the support of the community is a | :19:01. | :19:05.
plus. But we need everybody support in order to garner as much money as | :19:05. | :19:13.
possible. Tim, you are the chairman of the club. Everyone has been | :19:13. | :19:18.
trying to chair this fund-raising effort. It is the occasions like | :19:18. | :19:26.
this that we have really come into our own. There could well has been | :19:26. | :19:31.
unbelievable. Also the local clubs have been very good to us. And | :19:31. | :19:35.
clubs outside the county have been brilliant also. We appreciate their | :19:35. | :19:41.
support. All the best for tonight's fund-raising efforts. Now on to | :19:41. | :19:44.
athletics and it has been a long time coming but the Australian | :19:44. | :19:50.
boxing team will use Belfast as their base for London 2012. As the | :19:50. | :19:55.
sports minister revealed, there may be more to follow. | :19:55. | :19:59.
Over the past 20 years, the Australian Olympic team have | :19:59. | :20:03.
consistently been in the top 10 medal count at the Games. They take | :20:03. | :20:06.
their sport very seriously and today, it was announced that their | :20:06. | :20:13.
boxing team from Down Under for the use Belfast as their base before | :20:13. | :20:18.
London 2012. Australia have said they intend to be here next summer, | :20:18. | :20:24.
which is really good news. Sports Northern Ireland, in conjunction | :20:24. | :20:32.
with others, had tried so insecure pre-Games training for here. I am | :20:32. | :20:36.
confident they have done well so far and I am confident they will do | :20:36. | :20:40.
a good job. Are there any other nations that make use of Northern | :20:40. | :20:46.
Ireland as a base? There will be others but you'll appreciate that | :20:46. | :20:50.
this is a competitive arena and we do not want to reveal our cars. We | :20:50. | :20:57.
will play them close to our chest and try to secured games here. | :20:58. | :21:02.
Perhaps more to come. The Chinese gymnastics team have already stated | :21:02. | :21:06.
that they are very interested in basing themselves in Lisburn, | :21:06. | :21:13.
although they have to confirm that indefinite. But the coach has no | :21:13. | :21:18.
doubt why the Australian boxers want to come here. The they are the | :21:18. | :21:23.
number one boxing team in the Commonwealth. They are certainly | :21:23. | :21:30.
higher up their. Additive that respect factor as well as | :21:30. | :21:36.
facilities that has Lord the Australians to Belfast. Three A's | :21:36. | :21:41.
in your AS-levels? That is what Ian Sloan received this morning in | :21:41. | :21:45.
Germany. The reason why he is there is because he is the youngest | :21:45. | :21:48.
member of the men's hockey squad taking part in the European | :21:48. | :21:53.
Championships which start this weekend. | :21:53. | :21:59.
England, France, Holland - bring them on. Ian Sloan is ready. He is | :21:59. | :22:03.
the Cookstown High School pupil who led his team to victory in several | :22:03. | :22:08.
prestigious competitions, including the McCullagh Cup this year. But he | :22:08. | :22:12.
has made the transition from minor to major league and is focusing on | :22:12. | :22:21.
his performance in the green jersey for the Europeans. They had made me | :22:21. | :22:26.
feel very welcome. It will be a tough challenge but the defeated | :22:26. | :22:32.
Argentina and South Korea. We have the belief we can go and do it. | :22:32. | :22:36.
European Championships have fallen at a fortunate time for Ian because | :22:36. | :22:41.
he is still a schoolboy but it will not be a conflict between the pitch | :22:41. | :22:47.
and the books. Because he gets time off. The principle of his school is | :22:47. | :22:53.
his mother also. Possibly some might have raised an eyebrow when | :22:53. | :22:57.
he was called into the squad to play the matches against Australia | :22:57. | :23:03.
and Korea, but after five minutes of playing, he slotted in perfectly. | :23:03. | :23:09.
He stands out now. And Ireland will need stand-up performances at these | :23:10. | :23:14.
championships. The top three Finnis and an automatic place in the | :23:14. | :23:22.
London Olympics a massive incentive. Good luck to Ian and the boys. | :23:22. | :23:27.
Ireland's rugby team are currently taking place. They're playing their | :23:27. | :23:33.
third warm-up game against Connacht. They are leading. Back to the | :23:33. | :23:37.
studio. Now to the search to discover more | :23:37. | :23:42.
about the huge asteroid behind us called Vesta, which is deep in | :23:42. | :23:45.
space. Scientists are spending millions of dollars trying to find | :23:45. | :23:50.
out more about it but you do not have to go that far to see what it | :23:50. | :23:56.
is made of. These are some of the latest NASA | :23:56. | :24:01.
pictures of Vesta. They were sent by the spacecraft dawned that is | :24:01. | :24:07.
now in orbit around the asteroid. Vesta is a huge asteroid, more than | :24:07. | :24:11.
300 miles across but over the millions of years, it has been | :24:11. | :24:17.
repeatedly hit by space debris. It is that debris that fell to earth, | :24:17. | :24:27.
including this that is in the Ulster -- Ulster Museum. This fell | :24:27. | :24:31.
in October 1960 and two ranch hands saw it come down. Subsequently, | :24:31. | :24:34.
people went to retrieve it. latest photo showed there is a huge | :24:35. | :24:38.
crater at the top of Vesta, the result of a massive collision with | :24:38. | :24:43.
another asteroid a billion years ago. What happened is that greater | :24:43. | :24:47.
spat out vast chunks, some kilometres across, and there is a | :24:47. | :24:52.
whole chain of small asteroids spreading along from Vesta, which | :24:52. | :24:59.
recalled the best rates. This is probably a chip of one of those. | :24:59. | :25:05.
the spacecraft closes in on Vesta, the pictures get better. But you do | :25:05. | :25:10.
not need a computer or a spacecraft to see a bit of the action. It cost | :25:10. | :25:15.
half-a- billion dollars to send the space shuttle to Vesta and it took | :25:15. | :25:19.
about three years to get there. To come to the Ulster Museum and see a | :25:19. | :25:26.
piece of Vesta is free except for the cost of a bus fare. However, it | :25:26. | :25:32.
is a bit smaller than Connacht -- Vesta itself. | :25:32. | :25:40.
Right on our doorstep. Let's see if the weather is fascinating. | :25:40. | :25:44.
I should mention that it is not a bad night for stargazers as they | :25:44. | :25:49.
should be some clear skies. A few showers around today, some | :25:49. | :25:54.
showers around today, some lingering tonight. Scenes such as | :25:54. | :25:58.
this one were commonplace today. The battle between sunny skies and | :25:58. | :26:07.
cloudier conditions. A bit of sunshine to enjoy this evening and | :26:07. | :26:11.
the showers will tend to fade away. The clouds melt away during the | :26:11. | :26:18.
course of tonight. Another chilly night, barely a puff of wind. | :26:18. | :26:21.
Temperatures of four or five Celsius and the chance of the odd | :26:21. | :26:27.
pocket of mist. Tomorrow, a very different day in store. Cloudy, | :26:27. | :26:35.
damp and breezy. We will say goodbye to their sunny skies. | :26:35. | :26:43.
Difficult conditions tomorrow for holidaymakers and farmers. No let | :26:43. | :26:48.
up for tomorrow. First thing, a bit of mist lingering in places. A bit | :26:48. | :26:53.
of sunshine to begin, especially towards the east, but you can not | :26:53. | :26:58.
depend on it. The sunshine will not last. The breeze will bring in | :26:58. | :27:05.
plenty of cloud and outbreaks of rain. Raining across parts of | :27:05. | :27:09.
Londonderry, Fermanagh and Tyrone and this band of rain will work its | :27:09. | :27:14.
way eastwards. Turning cloudy and damp across most parts by lunchtime | :27:14. | :27:20.
tomorrow. It will not be raining all day long, we are not expecting | :27:20. | :27:27.
heavy pulses of rain, at worst, we are talking of the odd, moderate | :27:27. | :27:31.
burst. A damp and drizzly day. Breezy as well and as a result, it | :27:31. | :27:37.
will feel rather fresh - temperatures around 17 Celsius. A | :27:37. | :27:41.
different feel tomorrow. Generally sunshine and showers for the | :27:41. | :27:47. |
