Yard's handling of the case. That's all from the BBC News at

:00:00.3:59:59

Good evening. The headlines on BBC Newsline The County Tyrone teenager

:00:00.:00:20.

Sean Hackett is convicted of his father's manslaughter Four brothers

:00:21.:00:23.

are jailed for up to 11 years each for killing a couple in their County

:00:24.:00:30.

Armagh home. Angry exchanges at the Policing Board between the DUP and

:00:31.:00:33.

the Chief Constable over the On the Runs issue. The police begin a hate

:00:34.:00:39.

crime investigation after a bullet is sent to Tobermore Primary School.

:00:40.:00:44.

Paul McGinley announces his vice-captains for this year's Ryder

:00:45.:00:47.

Cup in Scotland and offers advice to Rory McIlroy. Another grey and wet

:00:48.:00:53.

day today but much better tomorrow. Not as warm but dry, bright and

:00:54.:00:55.

breezy. Sean Hackett had always admitted

:00:56.:01:06.

shooting his father at their family home last year but his defence said

:01:07.:01:09.

he was mentally disturbed at the time, possibly on the verge of

:01:10.:01:15.

schizophrenia. Today, a jury cleared him of murder and found him guilty

:01:16.:01:19.

of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The

:01:20.:01:23.

19-year-old from Augher will be sentenced later. Julian Fowler was

:01:24.:01:29.

in the court for BBC Newsline. Sean Hacketts's family arrived in court

:01:30.:01:34.

this morning with their solicitor. His legal team had argued that the

:01:35.:01:37.

teenager had killed his father in the irrational belief that he would

:01:38.:01:41.

become his guardian in heaven and resolve his unhappiness and problems

:01:42.:01:44.

in life following the break-up with his girlfriend. The prosecution

:01:45.:01:48.

argued that he was a cold, calculating, manipulative killer who

:01:49.:01:51.

was not suffering from a recognised mental disorder. The Tyrone manager,

:01:52.:01:56.

Mickey Harte, had given evidence of Sean Hackett's promising future as a

:01:57.:02:01.

talented Gaelic footballer. He described him as a quiet,

:02:02.:02:06.

unassuming, lovely young gentleman. The trial heard conflicting expert

:02:07.:02:09.

evidence about the state of Sean Hackett's mind at the time of the

:02:10.:02:15.

killing. In his summing up, the judge had told the jury that all

:02:16.:02:19.

killings are abhorrent, all killings are truly horrific. People act

:02:20.:02:23.

abnormally but that does not mean they suffer from an abnormality of

:02:24.:02:26.

mental functioning or have a recognised mental condition. Sean

:02:27.:02:31.

Hackett's lawyer had argued that you didn't need to be a psychiatrist to

:02:32.:02:34.

know that something in this young man's head was badly wrong. And that

:02:35.:02:38.

a finding of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility

:02:39.:02:41.

would be the right verdict, a just verdict and the proper verdict.

:02:42.:02:45.

After 2.5 hours of deliberation, the jury unanimously agreed. Sean

:02:46.:02:50.

Hackett showed little emotion as he was found not guilty of murder but

:02:51.:03:00.

guilty of manslaughter. On the grounds of diminished

:03:01.:03:02.

responsibility. Behind him, in the public gallery, his family cried and

:03:03.:03:06.

hugged each other with relief. As he was led from the courtroom, his

:03:07.:03:09.

mother Eilish gave him the thumbs up, and said, I love you. Sean

:03:10.:03:13.

Hackett will be sentenced for manslaughter and two counts of

:03:14.:03:15.

possessing a gun and ammunition with intent to endanger life next month.

:03:16.:03:23.

Four brothers have been jailed for up to 11 years each for killing a

:03:24.:03:32.

couple in County Armagh. Thomas O'Hare and Lisa McClatchey died in a

:03:33.:03:36.

fire at the remote cottage they shared near Tassagh in 2006. Here's

:03:37.:03:43.

Gordon Adair. Thomas O'Hare and Lisa McClatchey died from the horrific

:03:44.:03:47.

injuries they received in the fire which destroyed this cottage. The

:03:48.:03:51.

fire, which was started by four brothers, Nile, Martin, Christopher

:03:52.:03:57.

and Stephen Smith. In December they were found guilty of manslaughter

:03:58.:04:00.

and today, their mother and other relatives wept in the public gallery

:04:01.:04:04.

as Niall Smith was jailed for ten years, his brother 's 11 years each.

:04:05.:04:10.

Niall Smith's sentence was reduced because he had effectively pleaded

:04:11.:04:14.

guilty to manslaughter. One by one, the lawyers said I'd please,

:04:15.:04:19.

focusing on the motivation. The sexual assault of Stephen Smith by

:04:20.:04:24.

Thomas O'Hare many years earlier. A lawyer for Stephen Smith spoke of

:04:25.:04:27.

his client's shame and said he accepted that what happened to him

:04:28.:04:32.

could never justify the attack. Referring to the time that had

:04:33.:04:37.

elapsed between the abuse, when Stephen Smith was eight years old,

:04:38.:04:42.

and the time he felt able to tell others, the lawyer said it was

:04:43.:04:47.

important to reflect on those seven lonely years. He said his client had

:04:48.:04:50.

tried to do without -- with what happened by ignoring it. A lawyer

:04:51.:04:56.

for Martin Smith accepted that his client was the one who had planned

:04:57.:05:01.

the attack but said fire to this, he had been a model citizen and we make

:05:02.:05:06.

up of Martin Smith was that of the Big Brother. He said we have a deep

:05:07.:05:10.

sense of guilt and what happened to his little brother and he had been

:05:11.:05:15.

unaware of it and had been unable to protect him. Sentencing, the

:05:16.:05:19.

judgement of fear there could be no excuse. He said that all we give

:05:20.:05:24.

birth to is anarchy by resorting to our own means. As they have done,

:05:25.:05:31.

the victims families to comment. Their impact statements were at

:05:32.:05:36.

their own request not read out in court and the only insight into how

:05:37.:05:40.

the killings have affected their lives was when the judge said it was

:05:41.:05:44.

clear that many of them were simply never get over what had happened. --

:05:45.:05:53.

would simply. The police have started an investigation into who

:05:54.:05:56.

sent a bullet in the post to a school in Tobermore in County

:05:57.:05:59.

Londonderry. The incident is being treated as a hate crime. Louise

:06:00.:06:02.

Cullen reports. The investigation began this morning after the letter

:06:03.:06:05.

was received at the primary school on the outskirts of the village of

:06:06.:06:10.

Tobermore. Prince recalled to the primary school this afternoon for an

:06:11.:06:13.

emergency meeting and they were told what had happened. The school says

:06:14.:06:17.

the incident is in the hands of the police. It's understood the target

:06:18.:06:21.

may have been the family of a child at the school, rather than the child

:06:22.:06:24.

itself. This afternoon, the police confirmed they were treating the

:06:25.:06:27.

incident as a hate crime. A school is a place where we sent children to

:06:28.:06:33.

be educated and they should not be discriminative against for their

:06:34.:06:39.

colour, creed or religion. And for this act to have happened this week

:06:40.:06:43.

in Tobermore is absolute madness. The investigation is continuing.

:06:44.:06:51.

There is a security alert at Green to change in Londonderry. The alarm

:06:52.:06:56.

was raised after the discovery of a suspicious package. An army bomb

:06:57.:06:59.

disposal team is up a scene. Coming up... Find out how locally brewed

:07:00.:07:05.

beers are whetting taste buds at home and abroad. There were angry

:07:06.:07:16.

exchanges between the DUP and the Chief Constable over the issue of On

:07:17.:07:19.

the Runs at the Policing Board today. Matt Baggott insisted the

:07:20.:07:22.

board had been fully briefed about the police's role in the scheme and

:07:23.:07:26.

reacted angrily to a claim that he had not been fully honest with the

:07:27.:07:30.

board. Our Home Affairs Correspondent, Vincent Kearney,

:07:31.:07:38.

reports. There were smiles and pleasantries as the Deputy Chief

:07:39.:07:42.

Constable attended last Policing Board meeting before retiring at the

:07:43.:07:46.

end this month. You happy here for over 100 meetings suffer that you

:07:47.:07:50.

deserve a medal. But the gloves came off on the issue of the On the Runs

:07:51.:07:57.

scheme was discussed. The PSNI called the process by checking the

:07:58.:08:00.

legal status of On the Runs operation rapid. DUP members

:08:01.:08:04.

questioned by the name of that operation was never mentioned by

:08:05.:08:09.

police and said they had never been told that letters of assurance were

:08:10.:08:12.

being sent to people, telling them they were not wanted for

:08:13.:08:16.

prosecution. The operation seems to be the only operation that could not

:08:17.:08:22.

be mentioned. You cannot expect me to comment on the last ten years of

:08:23.:08:26.

briefing to a different Policing Board, before devolution, to people

:08:27.:08:30.

who were no longer present. Quite frankly, you are being disingenuous.

:08:31.:08:37.

This is the only operation that has never been named. He does not have

:08:38.:08:45.

any right to question the integrity of members of the command team. It

:08:46.:08:49.

did not finish there. This operation, which goes to the heart

:08:50.:08:58.

of our justice system, and the integrity of that system, why were

:08:59.:09:04.

we not briefed on that? I have been asked these questions for or five

:09:05.:09:08.

times and is a role for politicians to make the point. But it is not for

:09:09.:09:13.

me to comment on anything around the politics of that process, how it

:09:14.:09:18.

came to be and let me be clear - the Policing Board was briefed. In 2010,

:09:19.:09:23.

it was briefly about the existence of the process. Where the

:09:24.:09:27.

information came from, it was followed up by letter with specific

:09:28.:09:33.

numbers of those involved. It is not right to say that you were not

:09:34.:09:38.

briefed. You were briefed. Sinn Fein's Gerry Kelly, who was involved

:09:39.:09:42.

in submitting the names of On the Runs to the police for checking,

:09:43.:09:48.

agreed. To sit here and talk sent me because you never heard the word

:09:49.:09:52.

rapid, that you did not get any information, is utter nonsense. The

:09:53.:09:58.

police told the board that the first heard about the letters of assurance

:09:59.:10:01.

after John Downie was arrested at Gatwick Airport last May. The judge

:10:02.:10:06.

said last week that he would not stand trial for the murder of four

:10:07.:10:09.

soldiers because of such a letter. The PSNI said it immediately

:10:10.:10:15.

suspended the operation. The BBC has obtained a copy of figures submitted

:10:16.:10:18.

to the board, illustrating the extent of the scheme and the fact

:10:19.:10:23.

that not every on the run was told they would not be prosecuted if they

:10:24.:10:28.

returned to Northern Ireland. They revealed that the PSNI was asked to

:10:29.:10:31.

clarify the legal studies of 228 people. Of those, 192 were told they

:10:32.:10:37.

were not wanted for questioning or arrest. 15 were actively wanted by

:10:38.:10:44.

the police. Eight of them were told they would be returned to prison but

:10:45.:10:48.

released immediately under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Checks

:10:49.:10:53.

on six people were suspended after John Downie's arrest. Three of those

:10:54.:10:57.

named were later arrested and one of them convicted. Two of them are the

:10:58.:11:02.

subject of ongoing investigative reviews by the police. While files

:11:03.:11:07.

on the remaining to have been sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

:11:08.:11:12.

The Justice Committee announced that it will mind its own investigation

:11:13.:11:15.

into the operation of the On the Runs scheme. The Belfast taxi firm

:11:16.:11:24.

Fonacab has apologised to a gay couple who say they were thrown out

:11:25.:11:28.

of one of its taxis for kissing. It happened on Tuesday night when the

:11:29.:11:31.

driver was taking a group of students to a gay nightclub in the

:11:32.:11:35.

city centre. The firm is one of city's biggest taxi companies and

:11:36.:11:37.

has recently sponsored Belfast Pride, a LGBT festival. One of the

:11:38.:11:41.

passengers in the taxi, Mark McLoughlin, explained to the

:11:42.:11:43.

Talkback radio programme what happened. We were driving down the

:11:44.:11:50.

Malone Road and Stewart leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. The taxi

:11:51.:11:56.

driver could see this through his mirror and he told us to stop and he

:11:57.:12:00.

pulled over and he said, get out. I mean, we were stunned. Are you

:12:01.:12:05.

serious? He said I am not having that in the car. Fonacab says it is

:12:06.:12:11.

aware of an alleged incident and has apologised to the customer. The firm

:12:12.:12:15.

says it is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and limited in

:12:16.:12:18.

discrimination and has started an internal investigation. What does

:12:19.:12:22.

this say about attitudes towards homosexuality? Gavin Boyd is from

:12:23.:12:24.

the Rainbow Project, the largest LGBT organisation here. What sort of

:12:25.:12:37.

reaction have you been getting? On social media we have seen people

:12:38.:12:41.

expressing a lot of anger at how the young men were treated. LJ BT people

:12:42.:12:47.

across Northern Ireland can experience this across Northern

:12:48.:12:51.

Ireland and I think the young men here can be commended in terms of

:12:52.:12:58.

standing up for their rights. There has been a lot of communication to

:12:59.:13:03.

try to raise awareness especially in regard to discrimination. Has that

:13:04.:13:11.

not improve matters? I think it has on the effort taken by the equality

:13:12.:13:15.

commission and the PSNI to educate the public about rights has been

:13:16.:13:21.

good, but we are still lacking in educating young people about these

:13:22.:13:24.

issues, especially in schools and universities. You mentioned social

:13:25.:13:32.

media. Our social media page has had a lot of comments today. Some people

:13:33.:13:37.

say they would side with the driver, they don't want to see

:13:38.:13:41.

people being openly affectionate. That is everyone's right, but you

:13:42.:13:46.

cannot just say that when it is two men were two women in a taxi who

:13:47.:13:51.

were kissing, but that is beyond the pale whereas if it is a young man

:13:52.:13:55.

and a young woman in a taxi, that is not treated the same. Thank you for

:13:56.:14:02.

joining us. Coming up on BBC Newsline before

:14:03.:14:05.

7pm: Continuing our series on the centenary of the start of World War

:14:06.:14:08.

One - tonight, how recruitment posters were used to get young men

:14:09.:14:12.

to sign up. New, locally-brewed specialist beers

:14:13.:14:14.

are whetting the taste buds, not just here but in a growing number of

:14:15.:14:21.

foreign markets. Seven micro-breweries are now firmly

:14:22.:14:23.

established, with more in the pipeline. Our business correspondent

:14:24.:14:27.

Julian O'Neill reports on a sales boom. Craft beer is a niche market.

:14:28.:14:36.

The production lines have never been busier. Sales are rising and this

:14:37.:14:40.

old farm in Kilkeel turns out 300 bottles of specialist brew each

:14:41.:14:51.

year. We have seen the rise of craft beer at the whole island of Ireland

:14:52.:14:57.

and we are trying to ride that wave at the moment. A lot of people are

:14:58.:15:02.

asking for a different choice of beer, more than they used to be.

:15:03.:15:06.

It's one of seven local micro-breweries. A few others are

:15:07.:15:10.

planned as demand increases in Europe and further afield. Some

:15:11.:15:14.

bars, particularly in Belfast, are also on the supply list. The pub

:15:15.:15:19.

industry is still dominated by the big names, who control about 90% of

:15:20.:15:24.

the market. But the recent arrivals are squeezing in. This is launch

:15:25.:15:28.

night for another of the small breweries. Beautiful what the

:15:29.:15:40.

undoing. These boys did this a happy and now look at them. The flavour is

:15:41.:15:47.

next to none. The larger breweries cannot put the detail that we can

:15:48.:15:52.

because we are brewing in small bottles. But the lower sales volumes

:15:53.:16:00.

can mean higher prices. You pay ?4 or 454 a bottle of beer. A lot of

:16:01.:16:07.

places now charge similar for standard like so I don't have a

:16:08.:16:14.

problem with that. It is great used the someone at home doing so well.

:16:15.:16:19.

Rather than bringing in something from a different country. Back in

:16:20.:16:22.

Kilkeel, this business is planning new premises. And as it aims to take

:16:23.:16:25.

a local name even further afield, it also hopes to add to its small

:16:26.:16:28.

staff. More now in our series commemorating

:16:29.:16:32.

the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. This evening, our

:16:33.:16:34.

Dublin correspondent Shane Harrison looks at how and why recruitment

:16:35.:16:38.

posters were used to get young men to sign up on this side of the Irish

:16:39.:16:40.

Sea. Ireland has always been a place

:16:41.:16:58.

apart from the rest of the UK, and the First World War was no

:16:59.:17:01.

different. Because of political sensitivity, conscription, despite

:17:02.:17:08.

plans, was not introduced here. So any soldier wanting to fight had to

:17:09.:17:13.

be persuaded to volunteer to do so, and over 200,000 were. Not far from

:17:14.:17:19.

the referee can bash Mike the River Liffey, these are the memorial or

:17:20.:17:24.

gardens. Until recently they were overgrown with the new state

:17:25.:17:30.

reluctant to acknowledge the 30,000 men who died in the First World

:17:31.:17:34.

War, meant the history books largely forgot. Some believed they were

:17:35.:17:39.

fighting for the Crown, others for the promise of home rule and the

:17:40.:17:42.

rights of small nations. Recruitment posters like these persuaded tens of

:17:43.:17:46.

thousands to volunteer for the trenches. Increasingly sophisticated

:17:47.:17:52.

messages were reduced that appeals to different audiences. The use of

:17:53.:17:57.

peer group pressure, defending women and family, and celebrating the

:17:58.:18:05.

bravery of Irish men. One of them got AVC and survived the experience.

:18:06.:18:09.

An attempt was made to recruit his father to act as an informal

:18:10.:18:14.

recruiting agency -- agent but apparently the father got drunk at a

:18:15.:18:19.

rally and started singing Irish nationalist songs, spawning the

:18:20.:18:25.

effect. Politics was never far away. Many of the posters were printed at

:18:26.:18:30.

this block, a place now associated with Trinity College students.

:18:31.:18:31.

Changed times indeed. There will be more on that story on

:18:32.:18:37.

BBC Radio Ulster tonight at 11:50pm. Tomorrow here on BBC Newsline and on

:18:38.:18:40.

Good Morning Ulster, there'll be another World War One at Home story

:18:41.:18:44.

Stephen Watson is next, and he has Ryder Cup golf news.

:18:45.:18:55.

Yes, Paul McGinley has named some of his backroom team and he has gone

:18:56.:19:00.

for experience, selecting Irish veteran Des Smyth and Scotsman Sam

:19:01.:19:04.

Torrance as two of his vice captains for this year's tournament in

:19:05.:19:09.

Scotland. And he also had words of encouragement for Rory McIlroy, as

:19:10.:19:11.

the Holywood golfer shows signs of rediscovering his best form. I spoke

:19:12.:19:15.

to Paul McGinley today in Dublin - firstly, about those vice-captain

:19:16.:19:20.

picks. I got the job in January last year. They were the two first people

:19:21.:19:26.

who came to mind. Debt has been a mentor and friend over the years and

:19:27.:19:30.

has been proved right in many occasions, and Sam is a guy who we

:19:31.:19:37.

have a strong bond over what happened in 2002, and he impressed

:19:38.:19:41.

me behind-the-scenes when he was captain. As the first Irish Ryder

:19:42.:19:46.

Cup captain, how many Irish golfers can we get on the team? The group --

:19:47.:19:53.

the group the bookies say we will have to with Graham and Rory, and

:19:54.:19:58.

Paul has a record as a Ryder Cup winner in the past. He showed form

:19:59.:20:03.

in the summer and would be at the top of a list of potential picks but

:20:04.:20:07.

I don't want the players to think too much about the Ryder Cup now. It

:20:08.:20:13.

is important for Rory and Graham to focus on winning in my army now. How

:20:14.:20:18.

pleased have you been to see Rory McIlroy return to his best form?

:20:19.:20:24.

Please, but not surprised. Golf is a long road and he will win the

:20:25.:20:29.

series, no doubt, and he has proven he has the ability to win and he

:20:30.:20:35.

will win more major championships, but golf is full of twists and turns

:20:36.:20:39.

and good days and bad days, and Rory will be no different.

:20:40.:20:46.

Rory has come close to winning and he is currently tied for second

:20:47.:20:49.

place at the world golf championship in Miami.

:20:50.:20:55.

Ulster's Iain Henderson will win his ninth cap when he starts for Ireland

:20:56.:20:58.

in Saturday's Six Nations clash against Italy in Dublin. His

:20:59.:21:01.

inclusion at the expense of the injured Peter O'Mahony is the one

:21:02.:21:05.

change from the side which lost to England. Thomas Niblock reports.

:21:06.:21:08.

Versatility can be a good or a bad thing. Some see Iain Henderson as a

:21:09.:21:12.

second row forward. Others think he should play in the back row. The

:21:13.:21:15.

latter is where he will start for Ireland this weekend, so what does

:21:16.:21:23.

the Irish coach think? I was talking to Paul earlier anti-confirmed he

:21:24.:21:32.

doesn't want him competing with him so it might be part of

:21:33.:21:34.

self-preservation, the selection tool. I think he is athletic enough

:21:35.:21:41.

to play in the background but he is strong enough to play in the second

:21:42.:21:47.

row. I think Oster are still trying to solve it and so are we, so we may

:21:48.:21:52.

see a bit of him in both positions on Sunday. -- on Saturday. It will

:21:53.:21:58.

be Henderson's first start in the Six Nations, putting a frustrating

:21:59.:22:01.

beginning to the season behind him. I was frustrated at the start of the

:22:02.:22:06.

season with two injuries, putting me out for longer than I expected. I

:22:07.:22:12.

had to play my way back in and ended up getting some game time against

:22:13.:22:16.

Munster and showing what I could do. Henderson's Ulster team-mate Paddy

:22:17.:22:19.

Jackson will start on the bench. That's because Jonny Sexton has

:22:20.:22:22.

recovered from a thumb injury, and will start fly half in the must-win

:22:23.:22:32.

game against the Italians. This year's Schools Cup Final in

:22:33.:22:35.

rugby will see Sullivan Upper play Methodist College Belfast. Today

:22:36.:22:37.

Sullivan beat Coleraine Academical Institution 27-14 in the second

:22:38.:22:42.

semifinal. Tries from Charlie McEwan, Mark Crockford and Josh

:22:43.:22:45.

Davidson helped the Holywood School to their first ever appearance in

:22:46.:22:48.

the 137 year history of the Schools' Cup. You can see the final of the

:22:49.:23:01.

competition on BBC Two on St Patrick's Day.

:23:02.:23:06.

Northern Ireland's goal drought in away friendlies has now stretched to

:23:07.:23:09.

ten games. The match against Cyprus ended 0-0 last night with only ten

:23:10.:23:12.

men on the pitch. Meanwhile, in Dublin, Martin O'Neill suffered his

:23:13.:23:15.

first defeat as Republic's manager, losing 2-1 to Serbia. Nial Foster

:23:16.:23:22.

reports. It was Northern Ireland's two showed the early initiative, but

:23:23.:23:27.

Martin Paterson's header was saved. The visitors' blushes were saved by

:23:28.:23:33.

the quick thinking and athleticism of Alan Manas. To compound Michael

:23:34.:23:38.

O'Neill's misery, Gareth McAuley were shown a straight red card for

:23:39.:23:45.

this challenge. Created a couple of half chances, we maybe could have

:23:46.:23:49.

done better, and then we had to play the game out with ten men. But the

:23:50.:23:53.

spirit and the workrate were good and we have to commend the players

:23:54.:23:57.

on that. The fact we got 17 players on the pitch and got game time was

:23:58.:24:01.

important, but the level of performance was disappointing. We

:24:02.:24:04.

need to learn from that. There's no mugs in international football.

:24:05.:24:07.

We've got some tough games in the group where we can't invite pressure

:24:08.:24:10.

playing the wrong places and give them that opportunity to get on the

:24:11.:24:17.

front foot. At the Abbey the stadium, Shane Long took advantage

:24:18.:24:23.

of some dodgy Serbian defending to fire the hosts into the lead, but

:24:24.:24:28.

they own goal from the unfortunate James McCarthy drew the sides level.

:24:29.:24:36.

Then after an hour, this goal gave Martin O'Neill something to think

:24:37.:24:38.

about ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

:24:39.:24:44.

Not a good night for our international foot honours, north

:24:45.:24:51.

and south. As long as they win the important games when the qualifiers

:24:52.:24:54.

start, that is all that is important.

:24:55.:24:58.

The weather is next, and there has been a warning for County Fermanagh.

:25:03.:25:05.

been a warning for County Fermanagh. Geoff Maskell is here Our late It

:25:06.:25:09.

has been a miserable day, grey and rainy everywhere and that yellow

:25:10.:25:13.

warning for heavy rain remains in place across Fermanagh until

:25:14.:25:16.

midnight. It is not so much the volume of water, or the impact it is

:25:17.:25:22.

having on swollen rivers and lakes. This evening and tonight, the rain

:25:23.:25:28.

gradually works its way east. We get some clearer skies behind.

:25:29.:25:33.

Temperatures dipped to four or five degrees but tomorrow will be a much

:25:34.:25:37.

better day. It will be drier and brighter, if a little chilly. This

:25:38.:25:44.

is the picture you will wake up to. We have a few showers are around but

:25:45.:25:48.

then the sky is dark to clear, it brightens up a little. We might even

:25:49.:25:54.

see some sunshine. Some showers could fall as sleet or snow because

:25:55.:26:00.

it is a colder air mass coming in so that is reflected by the

:26:01.:26:03.

temperatures, highs of six or seven degrees. Stay out of the wind and in

:26:04.:26:08.

the sunshine and it won't feel too bad. Those dry conditions continue

:26:09.:26:13.

in the first part of Friday night and into Saturday morning before a

:26:14.:26:19.

little rain edges in. It is a cold night because of those clear skies,

:26:20.:26:24.

temperatures close to freezing. A change at the weekend, a more

:26:25.:26:29.

unsettled picture because of a low pressure system. Here it is tracking

:26:30.:26:33.

up the West Coast of Ireland. That will bring rain and cloud and some

:26:34.:26:38.

quite strong winds as we go through the weekend. So starting Saturday,

:26:39.:26:43.

which will be the welter of the two days, plenty of rain to begin with,

:26:44.:26:48.

things pick up a little as we go through the day, and temperatures

:26:49.:26:54.

have recovered to highs of 11 or 12 degrees. On Sunday another similar

:26:55.:26:59.

picture is that front moves northwards. We start with a bit of

:27:00.:27:05.

rain but Sunday gets a lot better. Things brighten up towards the end

:27:06.:27:09.

of the day and next week the high pressure exert its influence,

:27:10.:27:14.

whether settled down and things get a good bit brighter.

:27:15.:27:18.

Finally a reminder of our main stories. Sean Hackett, accused of

:27:19.:27:25.

murdering his father, has been found guilty of manslaughter on the

:27:26.:27:27.

grounds of diminished responsibility.

:27:28.:27:31.

And for brothers have been jailed for up to 11 years age for killing a

:27:32.:27:36.

couple in a fire at their cottage in County Armagh. Our late summary is

:27:37.:27:43.

at 10:25pm. I keep watching. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

:27:44.:27:53.

Ireland lead the way but could Italy cause an upset?

:27:54.:27:58.

Scotland host France, aiming for back-to-back victories, and will
