Good evening. A dissident Republican has been in court charged with the

murders of 29 people and unborn twins in the Omagh bombing in 1998.

It was the worst single atrocity of the Troubles. No-one has ever been

jailed. Our Home Affairs Correspondent Vincent Kearney

reports from Dungannon court. Seamus Daly arrived shortly before

ten o'clock. There were armed police officers inside the police room. --

include the murders of 29 people killed when a bomb devastated the

town centre. More than 200 others were injured. It was just four

months after the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. No one has ever

been convicted. He was also charged with an attempted bombing in April

the same year. 14 years ago eight BBC panorama programme named Seamus

Daly as a suspect. He has always denied involvement at a police

officer today told the court he could connect him with all of the

charges. A detective inspector said the case is based on forensic

evidence and telephone calls. The defence said the case was very weak.

The court also heard that Seamus Daly refused to comment when

questioned by police. It was revealed that Seamus Daly was

arrested in the car park of this hospital. The court was told he was

visiting his wife who was due to give birth today. He gave police

officers his brother 's name and was only identified by fingerprint

analysis. Detective Inspector Coldwell said it was the first

opportunity the police had to arrest Seamus Daly. A defence lawyer

disputed that, who said his client had been living in South Armagh for

a number of years. Detective Inspector Coldwell said there were

fears he may not appear for his trial and could flee across the

border. He said there were also fears he might interfere with

witnesses. This man's son was one of those killed. In court today he and

his daughter sat just feet away from the man accused of his murder.

Because of the person he was, we cannot just walk away. We have to

know the truth about what happened and we have to see those responsible

brought before the courts with proper evidence and sentenced.

Seamus Daly was remanded in custody and till the 6th of May.

A woman who was sexually abused by her parents, two uncles and two

other men has described them as monsters. She and her three siblings

were subjected to horrific abuse in the 1970s and early 1990s in County

Down. Today all six of the abusers were sentenced. You may find some

details in Claire Savage's report upsetting.

Today at Belfast Crown Court, sixth child sex abusers sat side-by-side

in the dock. A father, mother and two uncles. The victims, Steve girls

and a boy, suffered sexual abuse and neglect over several years, all when

they were very young. The court heard they suffered arrested mental

and physical development, often left unwashed for days. The mother was

described as always drunk and having sex with a number of men. At times

she made her children watch. One of the victims spoke to me anonymously.

They would get drunk together and have intercourse in one of the front

rooms. We were expected to watch. The abusers who are related cannot

be named in order to protect the identity of the victims. The mother

was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison. The father

subjected his children to savage beatings, once with a porker. He got

for months -- of the two uncles, one got a prison sentence of two years

and nine months and the other got a six-month suspended sentence. They

know what they did. I just hope this offer. The judge referred to a

quote. He said, the hearts of young children I like delicate organs. A

cruel beginning and twist them into curious shapes. The victims now want

to move on with their lives. The police say children were almost

certainly in a car in Londonderry which had a bomb under it. The

device fell off in a driveway at Talbot Park yesterday afternoon.

Nearby homes were evacuated for a time. This resident spoke to the

woman who picked it up. She thought it was a tie. As you can imagine,

she was badly shaken. Rugby now and Ulster notched up

eight tries in a 58-12 bonus point win over Connacht in tonight's Pro

12 game at Ravenhill. Andrew Trimble scored a hat-trick as Ulster move

above Munster into second place in the league. It's day two of golf's

first major championship of the season - the US Masters. Rory

McIlroy is currently tied for 28th place after ten holes of his second

round. But that's nine shots behind the leader, American Bubba Watson.

Graeme McDowell is struggling at seven over par but Darren Clarke

should make the weekend's play after completing today's round in two

over. Stephen Watson reports from Augusta. Rory McIlroy had to replay

has a shot at the fourth hole and introduced this magical recovery. He

responded with a birdie at the next. Darren Clarke returned another solid

round on his 12 Masters appearance. I groaned it out. I can do better
