building society. That's all from the BBC News at Six, so it's goodbye | :00:00. | 3:59:59
from me, and Hello, this is BBC Newsline. | :00:00. | :00:20.
Tonight's top story. The latest on the letters given to the On the Run, | :00:21. | :00:26.
a senior police officer reveals 95 are linked to almost 300 murders. | :00:27. | :00:30.
Concern about what the sale of firm could mean for its workers in | :00:31. | :00:34.
Kilkeel. Why the poppy is at the centre of controversy at Queens. | :00:35. | :00:42.
Giroud fever is catching as Coleraine holds its cycle races | :00:43. | :00:46.
tonight. The children are raring to go but with the road closures there | :00:47. | :00:51.
will be a lot of disruption, join me later. Also to come. | :00:52. | :00:55.
Ever wondered how creatures like these get on your screens? The | :00:56. | :00:59.
latest in our series on the film industry. | :01:00. | :01:03.
There is a lot of work involved in it but it is fun, and exciting to be | :01:04. | :01:08.
able to, to put something there that wasn't there before. | :01:09. | :01:13.
And keep the raincoat handy as the wet weather continues to come our | :01:14. | :01:22.
way. 95 Republicans who received | :01:23. | :01:25.
so-called On the Runs letters were linked to nearly 300 murders, the | :01:26. | :01:31.
revelation was made at a meeting of the Northern Ireland Affairs | :01:32. | :01:34.
Committee at Westminster today. The Chief Constable stressed that did | :01:35. | :01:37.
not mean they are guilty, and said they could still be prosecuted if | :01:38. | :01:41.
new evidence emerges, or they were sent a letter by mistake. | :01:42. | :01:45.
Our Home Affairs correspondent reports. | :01:46. | :01:49.
The focus of this debate has until now been the number of Republican | :01:50. | :01:52.
sent letters telling them they weren't wanted by the police. | :01:53. | :01:58.
Today, details of the number of their potential victims were -- | :01:59. | :02:01.
revealedment giving evidence today, the officer who leads the PSNI | :02:02. | :02:05.
serious crime branch was asked if any of those September letters would | :02:06. | :02:09.
have been considered to be notorious. When you look through all | :02:10. | :02:15.
of these, the full 228 names, there are people in that who are in your | :02:16. | :02:20.
terms notorious, not without a doubt. 95 of these individuals are | :02:21. | :02:28.
linked in some way or other to 200 murder investigations. So, but that | :02:29. | :02:35.
link may only be intelligence. That drew this response. I must say, it | :02:36. | :02:41.
breaks my heart today, as a citizen of Northern Ireland, as a citizen of | :02:42. | :02:45.
the United Kingdom to know that 95 people are holding letters that | :02:46. | :02:48.
excuse them for the murder of 200 people. But the Chief Constable was | :02:49. | :02:53.
at pains to stress that did not mean there was evidence to prove those 95 | :02:54. | :02:58.
individuals were guilty of murder. I wouldn't say you can say it | :02:59. | :03:02.
cleared people of murder, that is an extreme statement. We need to work | :03:03. | :03:07.
through this. Mr Harris said they were linked. It doesn't mean there | :03:08. | :03:10.
is evidence there, they could have gone through a proper review process | :03:11. | :03:13.
and there may not be reasonable ground to arrest. The PSNI later | :03:14. | :03:16.
issues a statement to clarify the position. It said the 95 individuals | :03:17. | :03:22.
had been linked to incidents involving 295 murders. | :03:23. | :03:26.
It was also revealed five of those sent letters are being | :03:27. | :03:30.
reinvestigated because of new evidence provided by the Historical | :03:31. | :03:33.
Inquiries team. The police were asked if those letters will now be | :03:34. | :03:39.
-- now be annulled. That is not clear. We have to go through a | :03:40. | :03:42.
process and we haven't presented those files to the PPS and it would | :03:43. | :03:47.
be for the PPS to take a view on the weight of the evidence against them, | :03:48. | :03:52.
and then to pursue that, the issue then of the status of their not | :03:53. | :03:58.
wanted letter. The PSNI is currently reexamining letters sent to 192 | :03:59. | :04:02.
Republican, telling them they were not wanted. To save mistake -- see | :04:03. | :04:07.
if mistakes were made and if there is evidence to change that position. | :04:08. | :04:10.
The Chief Constable said letters would not prevent prosecutions if | :04:11. | :04:15.
new evidence emerges. If we have new evidence or opportunities we will | :04:16. | :04:21.
take, some degree the letter is, is irrelevant because we are pursuing | :04:22. | :04:25.
an investigation. I have heard nothing and seen nothing that says | :04:26. | :04:29.
these are immunities or amnesties. A team of 19 detectives is reviewing | :04:30. | :04:34.
the case, it is expected to take round three years. | :04:35. | :04:40.
A 56-year-old man arrested earlier today, in connection with the | :04:41. | :04:43.
abduction and murder of Jean McConville in 1972 has been | :04:44. | :04:48.
released. A report has been sent to the Public Prosecution Service. This | :04:49. | :04:52.
lunchtime her family released doves, they also planted a tree in her | :04:53. | :04:58.
memory at the Wave Trauma Centre, on what would have been her 80th | :04:59. | :05:00.
birthday. I think the tree is a good way of | :05:01. | :05:05.
representing my granny, it will nower in the month of May when it | :05:06. | :05:08.
was her birthday and I will be something that will be there, just | :05:09. | :05:12.
like my granny, her memory will be with all of us, so the tree | :05:13. | :05:17.
represents that in a good way. A US aerospace firm which is one of | :05:18. | :05:22.
the biggest employ years is up for sale. B/E Aerospace employs more | :05:23. | :05:26.
than 800 people at its Kilkeel factory. It has hired an investment | :05:27. | :05:31.
bank to advice it on a sale or merger. Our economics editor reports | :05:32. | :05:36.
from Kilkeel. If you are lucky enough to fly first | :05:37. | :05:41.
class there is a chance your seat was made here, at the factory in | :05:42. | :05:46.
Kilkeel. The company's been here since 1993, | :05:47. | :05:50.
when it bought a local firm. It employs more than 800 people. | :05:51. | :05:55.
There are hundreds more jobs in the supply chain. | :05:56. | :06:01.
This operation is just one part of a $10 billion First Lady based in | :06:02. | :06:05.
Florida and the company has now effectively put up the for sale | :06:06. | :06:10.
sign. In a statement they said it hired an investment bank to explore | :06:11. | :06:14.
a possible sale or merger of the company. Alternatively there could | :06:15. | :06:19.
be the sale, spin-off or other separation of selected businesses. | :06:20. | :06:24.
The company is selling from a position of strength. 2013 was the | :06:25. | :06:28.
best ever year and its share price has been soaring. However, the | :06:29. | :06:33.
prospect of a change of ownership does cause uncertainty, often when | :06:34. | :06:37.
one company buys another the new owners will look to find ways to cut | :06:38. | :06:42.
costs. One local businessman says it is | :06:43. | :06:46.
vital to the economic life of this town. I call on all our politicians, | :06:47. | :06:53.
and all the relevant Government departments to make sure that this | :06:54. | :06:58.
firm doesn't go and these jobs stay in the area, because the South Down | :06:59. | :07:02.
area needs it and Northern Ireland needs it. It is not certain a deal | :07:03. | :07:07.
will even be done. So the workers here could face weeks, if not months | :07:08. | :07:13.
of uncertainty. The elderly woman who died following | :07:14. | :07:19.
a car crash in six mile cross in County Tyrone was Bridget Mullen, | :07:20. | :07:23.
she was 84 and from the area. Yesterday, another woman in her 80s | :07:24. | :07:29.
died in a crash in County Down. The collision involving a lorry and car | :07:30. | :07:32.
happened on down Patrick street. Her name has not been released. | :07:33. | :07:38.
This is BBC Newsline. Plenty still to come tonight. | :07:39. | :07:44.
I am in Coleraine where they are hoping the Giro will leave a lasting | :07:45. | :07:46.
legacy. Join me in a few minutes. Now, should the sale of poppies be | :07:47. | :07:56.
banned in the Student Union at Queen's University? That is an issue | :07:57. | :08:01.
being debated at the university's Student Council this evening. | :08:02. | :08:06.
For more than 90 years they have been used to remember soldiers who | :08:07. | :08:11.
died in war. But in the past, poppies have also divided the two | :08:12. | :08:15.
communities here. If this evening's vote is anything to go by, it is an | :08:16. | :08:19.
issue that is going to continue to divide people in the future. If the | :08:20. | :08:26.
In the propose motion was to be passed it wouldn't ban people from | :08:27. | :08:30.
wearing poppies anywhere, but it would Mina students couldn't | :08:31. | :08:33.
purchase one at the Student Union, where all the shops and bars are. | :08:34. | :08:39.
At Queens there is a permanent memorial outside the building to | :08:40. | :08:42.
remember those from the university who died in the two World Wars. | :08:43. | :08:46.
Most of the students I spoke to couldn't understand why selling | :08:47. | :08:50.
poppies in the union was an issue. I think that is a shame. I mean, you | :08:51. | :08:56.
see things, down in the republic, moving forward where by the Irish | :08:57. | :09:00.
Government are coming up to participate in Remembrance Day, and | :09:01. | :09:04.
that things might be taken a step backwards here, it is a shame to | :09:05. | :09:09.
see. It is not like the Student Union is telling you to wear it, | :09:10. | :09:12.
itle allowing you to buy it. It is wrong to take that away from people. | :09:13. | :09:15.
More young people are trying to move on from those issues so for one to | :09:16. | :09:22.
bring that up seems immature. The student who proposed the motion did | :09:23. | :09:25.
not want to be interviewed, in a statement he said it was not | :09:26. | :09:29.
designed to cause offence, but to make the union a neutral and safe | :09:30. | :09:36.
space. The republic's Justice Minister is | :09:37. | :09:40.
hat hat has resigned after criticism in a report about police | :09:41. | :09:44.
whistleblower, the announcement was made in the Dail. I am advising the | :09:45. | :09:51.
President to accept the resignation of Alan Shatter as a member of the | :09:52. | :09:54.
Government. I have accepted the resignation with regret, I would | :09:55. | :09:58.
like to thank him for the service to the Government and country. With | :09:59. | :10:02.
that announcement by the Taoiseach, there ended the career of an Irish | :10:03. | :10:07.
Government minister rarely far from controversy. Alan Shatter became a | :10:08. | :10:10.
government minister three years ago, in charge of justice and defence, an | :10:11. | :10:16.
important role within the coalition. Two bugging scandal, a row over | :10:17. | :10:21.
drivings' penalty point and failure to complete a breathalyser check | :10:22. | :10:28.
kept him in the headlines, he had been accused of intervening in a | :10:29. | :10:34.
tribunal. Today's resignation comes after receipt by the Government of a | :10:35. | :10:41.
report into allegations made by the police whistleblower sergeant marry | :10:42. | :10:44.
mechanic kad. A report critical of his Justice Department. | :10:45. | :10:47.
The body was runs the odyssey has rejected a bid to buy part of the | :10:48. | :10:57.
entertainment complex, the Irish cinema operator Omniplex had made an | :10:58. | :11:01.
over to take over the Odyssey Pavilion. The trust has turned the | :11:02. | :11:05.
deal down, saying conditions attached to the deal were | :11:06. | :11:08.
unacceptable. Now, the Giro D'Italia cycle race | :11:09. | :11:12.
starts on Friday, with the professional riders hitting the | :11:13. | :11:15.
roads for three days of racing. Motorists will face disruption along | :11:16. | :11:19.
the route and in Belfast some schools will be closed. Coleraine is | :11:20. | :11:24.
holding its own cycle race and Donna is there. | :11:25. | :11:29.
Yes, the traffic here is disrupted but nothing like what we can expect | :11:30. | :11:34.
between Friday and Sunday as the Giro, you can hear the children's | :11:35. | :11:39.
race is just starting here. The traffic disruption between Friday | :11:40. | :11:42.
and Sunday as the Giro makes its way from Belfast, to the north coast, | :11:43. | :11:46.
along the Antrim coast and from Armagh to Dublin is going to be | :11:47. | :11:50.
substantial. There is a big welcome for the riders, but the vent is not | :11:51. | :11:56.
going to happen without some sort of annoyance. BBC Newsline Mark Simpson | :11:57. | :12:00.
reports on the knock on effect in Belfast. Right on the route of the | :12:01. | :12:05.
Giro. One of the largest schools in East Belfast. | :12:06. | :12:08.
And with road closures in place, mid-morning and late afternoon on | :12:09. | :12:13.
Friday, these pupils have a problem. Especially getting home from school. | :12:14. | :12:19.
The solution - most will be getting an unexpected day off We have | :12:20. | :12:23.
decided it is too much of a risk to ask em to come into school if they | :12:24. | :12:28.
are not sitting exams so the girls sitting a public exam will come in | :12:29. | :12:31.
on the day, we will provide breakfast, open up early. Here is a | :12:32. | :12:36.
look at the route. Titanic to Stormont. Back along the Newtownards | :12:37. | :12:40.
Road before weaving round the streets of South Belfast and ending | :12:41. | :12:43.
up at City Hall. All of these roads will be closed | :12:44. | :12:51.
from 9.30 to 12.30. And from 4. Pm to 8.30. Stay away from route as | :12:52. | :12:56.
enough as you can if you are not going to see the race. Pay attention | :12:57. | :13:02.
to the sign, look at the leaflet, understand where the race is going | :13:03. | :13:05.
to be and try and give it a wide berth. If you want the see the race, | :13:06. | :13:09.
make your plans early. Understand where you want to get to, understand | :13:10. | :13:12.
it will take time to get there. Leave plenty of time and use public | :13:13. | :13:15.
transport where you can or walk or ride your bike. Bear in mind that | :13:16. | :13:19.
you can't ride your bike on the route itself, which will be closed. | :13:20. | :13:23.
Preparations for the big race are now almost complete. There is, of | :13:24. | :13:27.
course, one thing you can't guarantee, and that is the weather. | :13:28. | :13:32.
Fortunately, organisers have ordered thousands of these. Official | :13:33. | :13:37.
waterproofs. Rain or no rain, the Tourist Board | :13:38. | :13:42.
are hoping to show off the best sites of Northern Ireland, with | :13:43. | :13:47.
their latest promotional video. The advice from the organisers is don't | :13:48. | :13:51.
try this at home, but make sure you come and see the big race, starting | :13:52. | :13:58.
on Friday. More details about those road | :13:59. | :14:02.
closures can be found on the official traffic website, that is: | :14:03. | :14:09.
the Giro will happen just along the coast from here but the whole area | :14:10. | :14:13.
is embracing the two wheel fever. We saw the children's race starting, | :14:14. | :14:17.
the adults race will start here in Coleraine, just later in about half | :14:18. | :14:22.
an hour or so, tomorrow, about 800 cyclists will be coming this way, as | :14:23. | :14:27.
part of an all Ireland endurance charity cycle as well. | :14:28. | :14:31.
Professional cycling, well, it may not be the most popular of sports | :14:32. | :14:37.
but maybe the Giro riders can change that. We have been meeting some of | :14:38. | :14:42.
them. These cycling superstars are used to | :14:43. | :14:47.
being the centre of media attention, the location, though, is a new | :14:48. | :14:52.
experience for me of them. It is a bit of an unknown fact- | :14:53. | :15:00.
factor. We are here nor the overall classification. It will be important | :15:01. | :15:06.
not to win the race but to not lose time and that is going to be | :15:07. | :15:09.
challenging. It is a building site behind the | :15:10. | :15:13.
hotel. I hear them shouting in English, I was like, no we, it is | :15:14. | :15:18.
Giro but we are in Ireland. Remember that, so it is, it is nice, I think | :15:19. | :15:24.
it is a great opportunity for Irish fans to see what the Giro is about. | :15:25. | :15:28.
I think the race is going to remember this weekend for many years | :15:29. | :15:32.
to come. I think the welcome already from people in the hotel, and round | :15:33. | :15:37.
town is incredible. It is really special. | :15:38. | :15:40.
The welcome will be fantastic, I hope we can break the Irishster row | :15:41. | :15:44.
type that it won't be raining It might start here but this remains an | :15:45. | :15:48.
Italian sporting festival, and a sense of great national pride there. | :15:49. | :15:53.
Having said that the Giro D'Italia is very much a worldwide event. It | :15:54. | :15:59.
will be broadcast in 174 country, with an estimated television | :16:00. | :16:05.
audience of almost 600 million. Over the next 48-hours this press room | :16:06. | :16:09.
will be backed packed with over 1,000 journalists. It is unique and | :16:10. | :16:18.
completely different. I don't know, I think the Giro d'Italia is one of | :16:19. | :16:24.
those, it is most of all passion. Having embraced pink, local fans | :16:25. | :16:29.
must show their passion for the biggest sporting event ever to come | :16:30. | :16:36.
here. They're certainly passionate in Coleraine, the children are | :16:37. | :16:40.
finishing their first lap of the race. Let's hear more about local | :16:41. | :16:46.
cycling. You have invited a lot of local club, but how popular is the | :16:47. | :16:53.
sport. Very popular. We're blessed, because we have the north coast to | :16:54. | :16:56.
Sibling around. It is massive here and we are the biggest club in the | :16:57. | :17:02.
area and it is going very well. It is all about getting kids and adults | :17:03. | :17:08.
out. It is a big deal for our club and the town, because we are looking | :17:09. | :17:12.
to raise awareness of cycle safety. It is not just about racing. Looking | :17:13. | :17:17.
at the professional cycling, for someone who doesn't know about it, | :17:18. | :17:22.
it seems with the Tour de-France and the drug scandals, it has been | :17:23. | :17:28.
tarnished. How do you see it? I think we have moved on from that. | :17:29. | :17:34.
The Lance Armstrong scandal is in everyone's minds, but there is | :17:35. | :17:40.
passports and the drug tests are, they are tested all the time. Even | :17:41. | :17:46.
if you wanted to do it, I don't know how you could get away wit. But | :17:47. | :17:51.
local is different. Richard, there is a push here for more cycling. How | :17:52. | :17:59.
safe are you on the road when you go out? I think in Northern Ireland, | :18:00. | :18:03.
people respect cyclists on the road and there are so many cyclists there | :18:04. | :18:08.
is almost a respect for them and people give them space. So sing | :18:09. | :18:12.
generally in Northern Ireland -- so I think generally with the lack of | :18:13. | :18:17.
traffic... Don't we need more cycle lanes. I think there should be a | :18:18. | :18:22.
great deal of investment in cycle lanes on the roads and in the | :18:23. | :18:26.
mountain bike trails. There is great benefit from that, health and | :18:27. | :18:29.
economic, and the legacy of the Giro d'Italia will be significant. This | :18:30. | :18:34.
is your first in having this race tonight, do you see it continuing? | :18:35. | :18:38.
Yes. Just as the Olympics have a legacy and the Irish Open, this | :18:39. | :18:42.
event the Giro d'Italia is as significant for the future. Thank | :18:43. | :18:52.
you. Tomorrow, at 6. 30 I will be at the opening ceremony of the Giro | :18:53. | :18:55.
d'Italia in Belfast. Join us for that. Now back to the studio. When | :18:56. | :19:02.
we see magical things appearing on television and cinema screens, we're | :19:03. | :19:04.
all pretty sophisticated viewers now... We know that monsters are not | :19:05. | :19:08.
really stalking the streets. But how's it done? Well, a Belfast | :19:09. | :19:13.
company has plunged into the industry and from very humble | :19:14. | :19:16.
beginnings is now part of the UK company which worked on blockbusters | :19:17. | :19:19.
like Captain Phillips, KickAss 2 and the Prince of Persia. Our arts | :19:20. | :19:21.
correspondent Maggie Taggart reports. The visual effects business | :19:22. | :19:29.
is in it is infancy in Northern Ireland, although the movie and | :19:30. | :19:34.
television industry is flurishing -- flourishing the post production work | :19:35. | :19:39.
is often sent elsewhere. An artist turned to Belfast and decided to set | :19:40. | :19:45.
up her own studio. It is difficult when you have no track record, but | :19:46. | :19:50.
we have some passionate artists here, but we didn't have a show reel | :19:51. | :19:58.
to say we can do this. When we filmed Gillian Anderson on a movie | :19:59. | :20:04.
called Robot Overlords, the robots were imaginary, now they're being | :20:05. | :20:10.
added. It is work which takes days for a few seconds on screen. This is | :20:11. | :20:18.
for Robot Overlords. The client has requested more people in the | :20:19. | :20:23.
background. So they have shot other extras on blue screen and we have | :20:24. | :20:26.
received that footage and we can take those people and put them into | :20:27. | :20:31.
the new shot. And this is what the actual final version is. Michael | :20:32. | :20:36.
worked as a printer but was made redundant, now his hobby has become | :20:37. | :20:43.
his job. The company has been relaunched as Nvizible Belfast. They | :20:44. | :20:50.
have worked on many stories such as Grabbers, the horrific sea monsters | :20:51. | :20:55.
were added after the actors filmed their scenes. The company now has a | :20:56. | :21:00.
staff of 60 with trainers coming to Belfast to teach new skills. Belfast | :21:01. | :21:06.
is becoming an exciting place with game of thrones and Dracula. We | :21:07. | :21:12.
noticed there wasn't a visual effects presence. We thought it was | :21:13. | :21:15.
a great opportunity and it is within the UK. So it is a big part for our | :21:16. | :21:23.
clients to take the tax break. All the staff here were recruited after | :21:24. | :21:28.
a two week intensive course here at the University of Ulster. We will | :21:29. | :21:30.
feature their efforts tomorrow. The Ulster Unionist Party says the | :21:31. | :21:37.
Stormont Executive has demonstrated an embarrassing lack of ambition | :21:38. | :21:41.
when it comes to drawing down EU funding. The party launched its | :21:42. | :21:43.
European and local government election manifesto in Co Fermanagh. | :21:44. | :21:48.
Here's our South West reporter Julian Fowler. The Ulster unionist | :21:49. | :21:59.
election wagon rolled into Enniskillen. Their candidate has led | :22:00. | :22:05.
the way in securing peace funding they say. The U. P said it is time | :22:06. | :22:09.
to renegotiate the relationship with the EU and supports a referendum. It | :22:10. | :22:22.
says significant EU funding is needed to create a single shared | :22:23. | :22:26.
education system and in the council elections it calls for flexibility | :22:27. | :22:30.
in rates for businesses in difficulty. The party leader says | :22:31. | :22:36.
the eleven council model for local government makes no sense. The logic | :22:37. | :22:42.
which says going from 26 to eleven will not apply. And people will not | :22:43. | :22:46.
save money. There are questions of local identify and come out of | :22:47. | :22:51.
Stormont and turn left and you're in his burn. That makes no sense unless | :22:52. | :22:58.
you see it as the DUP and Sinn Fein carving up the Northern Ireland. He | :22:59. | :23:04.
is said not cop certained at -- concerned at the number of | :23:05. | :23:08.
candidates, but that people turn out and vote. The TUV leader Jim | :23:09. | :23:14.
Allister says the European and Local Government elections are a roll call | :23:15. | :23:17.
for those who disagree with constant pandering to Sinn Fein. Launching | :23:18. | :23:20.
his party's manifesto he said the poll was timely. And he claimed his | :23:21. | :23:25.
party's message was resonating very well with the electorate. But he | :23:26. | :23:29.
denied claims by the DUP leader Peter Robinson that the pro-union | :23:30. | :23:32.
vote was being shredded - saying all shades of unionist opinion was | :23:33. | :23:35.
represented, which meant the vote would be maximised. On Europe, Mr | :23:36. | :23:41.
Allister claimed the European Union could not be reformed and that the | :23:42. | :23:46.
UK would be better off leaving. He also claimed votes for his party | :23:47. | :23:50.
would be taken as a barometer of Unionist discontent. I'm in the | :23:51. | :23:56.
business of fight fog win. It -- fighting to win. It is over to | :23:57. | :24:00.
people what they want to do. If they want to create the political | :24:01. | :24:06.
earthquake to shake things up then vote TUV. I'm finding a real | :24:07. | :24:10.
appetite for shaking things up and I think we will do well. But that is | :24:11. | :24:15.
in the hands of people. Now time for the weather. Good evening, those | :24:16. | :24:33.
stylish Giro upon poncho ises, I think we will need them. It is still | :24:34. | :24:39.
quite blustery, but the winds will ease and if you can get out. Later | :24:40. | :24:45.
tonight patchy rain in the south will edge northwards. Temperatures | :24:46. | :24:49.
around five degrees in rural spots. Tomorrow, the rain is back. | :24:50. | :24:53.
Initially it may be quite patchy and there may be some dry gaps. But they | :24:54. | :24:59.
will not be to be defended on -- depended on. If it is dry when you | :25:00. | :25:04.
leave home, the rain won't be too far away. It will be wet on the | :25:05. | :25:10.
roads with puddles and large areas of water. The winds will be strong | :25:11. | :25:14.
and temperatures around 10 degrees. That wet weather and cloudy skies | :25:15. | :25:18.
continues through the rest of the morning. The rain will become | :25:19. | :25:23.
persistent around lunchtime and into the'vy afternoon. But it should ease | :25:24. | :25:28.
away. During the latter part of day, there will be some brightness. Still | :25:29. | :25:33.
some showers, but some dry spells and we should 14 degrees in the | :25:34. | :25:38.
sunshine. Tomorrow, there will be some heavy showers and thunder | :25:39. | :25:42.
storms. They will continue into Friday morning. So to cheer us up we | :25:43. | :25:49.
are keeping the pink Giro theme. It is good to know the pink day is | :25:50. | :25:54.
waterproof. At least these sheep doesn't seem to be any streaks after | :25:55. | :26:00.
today's rain. Friday starting off wet and showery. But the showers | :26:01. | :26:05.
will ease and many places dry by Friday evening. That should include | :26:06. | :26:09.
Belfast for the important time trials. But low pressure is sitting | :26:10. | :26:15.
over us on Saturday. So Saturday will bring wet weather and some | :26:16. | :26:20.
strong winds on Sunday. Our late summary is at 10.25. You can also | :26:21. | :26:24.
keep in contact with us via Facebook and Twitter. From BBC Newsline | :26:25. | :26:26.
goodnight. | :26:27. | :26:29. |
