Good evening, the headlines on BBC Newsline: | :00:00. | :00:23.
A party leader and his former minister seemed to be at odds, so is | :00:24. | :00:27.
there underlying pressure shear? As the Executive struggles to | :00:28. | :00:31.
balance its shear? budget, Government departments face losing | :00:32. | :00:33.
millions from their budgets. Baby Sophie Maguire died | :00:34. | :00:35.
after surgery at Great Ormond Every night, I see her, dying in my | :00:36. | :00:37.
arms. A charity set up in memory | :00:38. | :00:48.
of footballer George Best is to be I will have all the latest news from | :00:49. | :00:52.
the Ryder Cup. And after a fresher day, it's about | :00:53. | :00:58.
to get a bit milder again, but also The First Minister Peter Robinson | :00:59. | :01:02.
had to issue a statement today denying he plans | :01:03. | :01:13.
to stand down at any stage The denial was prompted | :01:14. | :01:16.
by an extraordinary interview on The former Health Minister Edwin | :01:17. | :01:22.
Poots had claimed it was public knowledge Mr Robinson intended to | :01:23. | :01:26.
step down in less than a year. Since then, Mr Poots has explained | :01:27. | :01:30.
he misunderstood a newspaper Here's our political | :01:31. | :01:33.
correspondent Gareth Gordon. We must now move onto questions to | :01:34. | :01:41.
the Minister of health. that was Edwin Poots, | :01:42. | :01:44.
who conducted his final Assembly Question Time before | :01:45. | :01:47.
learning he was to be replaced. There was no bitterness, from people | :01:48. | :01:58.
who were standing down. They recognised the need for us to | :01:59. | :01:59.
continue to turn things around. Mr Robinson was also asked | :02:00. | :02:01.
about his own future. How can I tell how long I'm going to | :02:02. | :02:10.
live? I am taking here taking three full meals a day, happy at the job I | :02:11. | :02:12.
am doing. But when Edwin Poots went | :02:13. | :02:13.
on radio this morning, he said his leader would be gone | :02:14. | :02:15.
before the Assembly election. It wasn't really the intention for | :02:16. | :02:24.
him to stay on for that period of time, that is public knowledge. That | :02:25. | :02:32.
was in a interview he carried out, and he referred to it as months. | :02:33. | :02:35.
Months tends to be less than a year. It appears Mr Poots may have got | :02:36. | :02:37.
his interviews mixed up. He later clarified his position - | :02:38. | :02:40.
too late for Mr Robinson, who issued a statement saying he had | :02:41. | :02:42.
no plans to stand down before the Assembly election, and when he | :02:43. | :02:48.
did decide to go, it would be he He added he would continue to lead | :02:49. | :02:51.
as long as the party He has given no intention that he | :02:52. | :03:08.
will go anywhere for some time, and he will certainly not have | :03:09. | :03:11.
appreciated a senior party member suggesting otherwise so publicly. It | :03:12. | :03:15.
is not the way the party likes to do business. | :03:16. | :03:16.
Public shows of unity are much more its thing. | :03:17. | :03:18.
The DUP won't want any more days like today. | :03:19. | :03:20.
?200 million of public sector cuts will have to be made over the next | :03:21. | :03:29.
six months, as the Executive struggles to balance its budget. | :03:30. | :03:32.
The cuts could lead to a significant number of redundancies | :03:33. | :03:35.
The spending pressures have emerged during | :03:36. | :03:38.
Health spending is likely to be protected, which means all other | :03:39. | :03:45.
departments will have to cut 6% from their budgets. | :03:46. | :03:48.
Here's our economics and business editor John Campbell. | :03:49. | :03:53.
Over the last four years, our public services have had to | :03:54. | :03:56.
The amount of money they've getting has been flat in real terms. | :03:57. | :04:02.
But now we're reaching a crunch point. | :04:03. | :04:07.
There's an almost limitless demand for health services, placing | :04:08. | :04:10.
The failure to do a deal on welfare also means the Treasury | :04:11. | :04:19.
Those welfare fines will amount to ?87m this year. | :04:20. | :04:24.
But paying for health and other so-called inescapable | :04:25. | :04:27.
That means all departments, except health, will have to cut | :04:28. | :04:33.
One minister says it will affect his part in it. We already told them | :04:34. | :04:53.
that this would have it impact on recruitment, and impact on how we | :04:54. | :04:57.
deal with legacy cases, how long prisoners will be locked up for, how | :04:58. | :05:06.
many officers we will have supervising the community, these are | :05:07. | :05:08.
all serious issues which will impact our public safety. | :05:09. | :05:10.
We could be seeing more scenes like this - civil servants facing | :05:11. | :05:13.
Cutting jobs is one of the options for making big savings. | :05:14. | :05:23.
We need to see our Government here at the Assembly standing up and away | :05:24. | :05:31.
the people of Scotland have stood up. The people of Scotland will have | :05:32. | :05:38.
more powers devolved to them. We already have many powers devolved to | :05:39. | :05:41.
us, but Scotland will fight for more money and able get it. | :05:42. | :05:43.
The Executive is due to discuss all this tomorrow. | :05:44. | :05:46.
But even if they reach agreement, it?s not the end of the process. | :05:47. | :05:50.
They'll shortly need to agree a comprehensive budget for 2015-16. | :05:51. | :05:52.
And the context for those discussions will be even tougher. | :05:53. | :05:59.
Feat public finances in the UK are even getting worse. We hear about | :06:00. | :06:05.
the economic work operate, but it means there will have to be more | :06:06. | :06:07.
public expenditure cuts. So the focus shifts to | :06:08. | :06:09.
tomorrow's Executive meeting. Time is of the essence - | :06:10. | :06:11.
because if a budget can't be agreed, it calls into question | :06:12. | :06:15.
the future of devolution. The Labour leader Ed Miliband has | :06:16. | :06:18.
urged the Stormont parties to press ahead with welfare reform | :06:19. | :06:26.
and avoid penalties from London. In an interview with our political | :06:27. | :06:28.
reporter Stephen Walker, Mr Miliband also said he wants to keep the | :06:29. | :06:31.
Barnett formula - that's the system that sets the amount of money | :06:32. | :06:35.
allocated to public services in Scotland, Wales and | :06:36. | :06:38.
of course here in Northern Ireland. We said we will keep the Barnett | :06:39. | :06:49.
formula. We think that although people have their complaints about | :06:50. | :06:54.
the formula, it is the least worst there is. There does need to be a | :06:55. | :06:59.
lock on going and whether we can have fairness in funding across all | :07:00. | :07:03.
parts of the United Kingdom, but I think the Barnett formula is the | :07:04. | :07:07.
right thing for the future. And if you are Prime Minister today, would | :07:08. | :07:14.
you gives permit taxpayer and delete back -- gave taxpaying powers to | :07:15. | :07:24.
Stormont? I know how they feel about this, because we have talked to them | :07:25. | :07:30.
about it. My anxiety is, the reasons why we didn't want Scotland to be | :07:31. | :07:32.
independent was because we didn't want this to happen. People have | :07:33. | :07:38.
called it a game changer. I have heard that and it is something we | :07:39. | :07:43.
will keep looking at. If you are Prime Minister, with the reforms | :07:44. | :07:49.
that the Tories have pushed through, would you stand by them? We went get | :07:50. | :07:55.
rid of them. We got rid of the bedroom tax. We know the | :07:56. | :07:58.
conversations in Northern Ireland. We changed things for disabilities, | :07:59. | :08:04.
as we know there are hardships for people who are facing life with | :08:05. | :08:10.
disabilities. We would change welfare, and we would do it by | :08:11. | :08:13.
listening to the people of Northern Ireland and that is what is not | :08:14. | :08:15.
happening under this Government. We're joined now by our | :08:16. | :08:26.
correspondents. There is not a lot optimism today and it didn't even | :08:27. | :08:34.
seem that the DUP was agreeing. Yes, there seems to be some | :08:35. | :08:39.
arguments. We had a rare public spat within the DUP. It made it into a | :08:40. | :08:44.
bit of a misunderstanding in the background, because Mr Peretz | :08:45. | :08:50.
thought that it had been reported something that hadn't been, Edward | :08:51. | :09:08.
Prince -- Mr Poots. They have said that they have seen | :09:09. | :09:13.
the Secretary of State today? Yes, they were meeting about the | :09:14. | :09:16.
forthcoming interparty negotiations. They clearly want. And as soon as | :09:17. | :09:21.
party delete back possible -- as soon as possible. As far as the | :09:22. | :09:28.
inquiry is concerned, neither nationalist party likes the idea and | :09:29. | :09:35.
Sinn Fein rev is that it said it was unacceptable. I am absolutely | :09:36. | :09:43.
opposed to this. We should deal with it as we have done up to now. | :09:44. | :09:49.
Dialogue for the coming year, we said it time and time again, we are | :09:50. | :09:54.
up for dialogue that is our position. We have set up publicly | :09:55. | :10:01.
and we have said it again today. And our politicians are facing more and | :10:02. | :10:06.
more choices. Our public redundancies looking likely? I think | :10:07. | :10:12.
they are. Sermon has been trying to protect jobs as much as they can, | :10:13. | :10:17.
but now the question is can they continue to do that given the | :10:18. | :10:19.
magnitude of the cuts which are required? The number of people | :10:20. | :10:23.
employed in the public service have gone down over the last couple of | :10:24. | :10:28.
years, it is down by about 4%. That is down to people not being replaced | :10:29. | :10:32.
when they leave, but if we look at the number of people working in the | :10:33. | :10:36.
public sector, it is followed by more than 10%. And Ed Miliband has | :10:37. | :10:40.
not given us much hope about welfare reform today. We need to look at the | :10:41. | :10:45.
broader context about where the economy is. They are making cuts in | :10:46. | :10:50.
West Minster because they are trying to lower the deficit. They say they | :10:51. | :10:58.
want to completely remove the deficit by the end of the next | :10:59. | :11:04.
election. The Labour Party have said the same thing. They want to close | :11:05. | :11:08.
the deficit, too. Their spending plans aren't we to be significantly | :11:09. | :11:11.
different. Under Labour, there won't be any more money. Explain the | :11:12. | :11:20.
meeting tomorrow? The finance minister will brief the other | :11:21. | :11:24.
finance ministers on the seriousness of the situation, but there is no | :11:25. | :11:28.
sign of any common approach between the DUP and Alliance on the one hand | :11:29. | :11:34.
you want to get on with the cuts and Sinn Fein who want to get on with | :11:35. | :11:35.
talks with London. The Chief Coroner | :11:36. | :11:38.
in England has ordered an investigation into the death | :11:39. | :11:40.
of a baby from Londonderry at Great Baby Sophie Maguire died | :11:41. | :11:43.
after surgery in the world renowned The family have welcomed | :11:44. | :11:47.
the fresh inquiry, after it emerged no post mortem | :11:48. | :11:53.
examination was ever carried out. Here's our northwest reporter, | :11:54. | :11:56.
Keiron Tourish. Baby Sophie Maguire lived for only | :11:57. | :12:00.
15 day, but even in that short time Before her birth in Altnagelvin, | :12:01. | :12:03.
it was discovered she had blood flow problems in her brain and she | :12:04. | :12:10.
was later transferred to Great After undergoing brain surgery, she | :12:11. | :12:13.
later developed a number of clots. Tragically, she deteriorated | :12:14. | :12:21.
and her family say they took the heartbreaking decision to switch | :12:22. | :12:24.
off the life-support machine That is all I see every night when I | :12:25. | :12:38.
close my eyes, I see my baby dying in my arms. I know there is a lot of | :12:39. | :12:45.
happy things that happy with us there, but for some reason, that | :12:46. | :12:50.
awful image just sticks in our heads and it probably will stick in my | :12:51. | :12:51.
head for the rest of my life. The family say there was never any | :12:52. | :12:53.
post mortem examination to establish the cause of death and a call | :12:54. | :12:56.
from a member of staff in Great Ormond Street hospital prompted | :12:57. | :12:59.
more questions than answers. After I received a phone call from | :13:00. | :13:07.
one of the members of staff, they said they reopened her case, I | :13:08. | :13:12.
simply said, why did you feel the need to open the case? And she said, | :13:13. | :13:16.
because she should never have died. We need answers. We need closure. We | :13:17. | :13:23.
can't keep going and having people saying, you lost the baby, how did | :13:24. | :13:27.
she die? And we say, we don't know. What kind of answer is that? How can | :13:28. | :13:31.
we grieve properly if we don't know how her baby die? | :13:32. | :13:32.
A spokesperson for Great Ormond Street said: | :13:33. | :13:55.
The per se 's cause of her death, that is what this is about, because | :13:56. | :14:02.
to date on what we don't know how or why she died. -- the precise cause. | :14:03. | :14:08.
So far, the answers have not been satisfactory. | :14:09. | :14:11.
Sophie Maguire's family have welcomed the investigation | :14:12. | :14:12.
They believe that only a detailed public inquiry in the | :14:13. | :14:16.
form of an inquest will establish what happened to their daughter. | :14:17. | :14:18.
Some of today's other news now and a 24-year-old man has been | :14:19. | :14:24.
arrested following a stabbing in west Belfast. | :14:25. | :14:26.
The attack on a man in his sixties happened as he was | :14:27. | :14:29.
delivering building mortar to a street just off the Springfield | :14:30. | :14:32.
He is being treated in hospital for his injuries, where he is said to be | :14:33. | :14:38.
Police officers with video cameras are patrolling the streets | :14:39. | :14:42.
of south Belfast after two more cars were burnt out | :14:43. | :14:44.
The vehicles were set on fire in Delhi Street off the Ormeau Road. | :14:45. | :14:52.
Both belonged to families who have lived in the street for a number | :14:53. | :14:55.
One of the cars was brand new and had only 20 miles on the clock. | :14:56. | :15:00.
It brings to eight the number of cars set alight in the wider | :15:01. | :15:03.
The police have appealed for information about the attacks. | :15:04. | :15:08.
They also said they've stepped up their presence in the Holylands | :15:09. | :15:11.
since students returned to university. | :15:12. | :15:16.
In the last two weeks, there have been 27 incidents involving | :15:17. | :15:21.
students, including two 18-year-olds arrested on suspicion of burglary. | :15:22. | :15:24.
Officers have made 40 referrals to universities over student behaviour. | :15:25. | :15:32.
A senior paediatric cardiologist in Dublin has told | :15:33. | :15:34.
the BBC that it makes sense for there to be one centre in Ireland | :15:35. | :15:37.
Yesterday it emerged that an international review team has | :15:38. | :15:43.
recommended that surgery in Belfast be moved south of the border. | :15:44. | :15:51.
In an interview with our health correspondent Marie-Louise Connolly, | :15:52. | :15:54.
Dr Paul Oslizlok said it could take up to two years for | :15:55. | :15:57.
We need to make sure there are enough beds available, I gas, or | :15:58. | :16:13.
doctors and nurses, and all of the professionals need to be in place to | :16:14. | :16:17.
provide an excellent service and that would take at least a year or | :16:18. | :16:22.
perhaps longer. What would happen in the meantime if a child in an | :16:23. | :16:27.
emergency situation comes to Northern Ireland, what would you | :16:28. | :16:31.
propose would happen in that interim period? Again, remembering that we | :16:32. | :16:37.
don't have the capacity to deal with all the patients, but we can provide | :16:38. | :16:42.
limited emergency services to infants and children who can't be | :16:43. | :16:47.
transported to the other hospital at the moment, that is what we have | :16:48. | :16:50.
agreed with our colleagues in Belfast. That is what is happening | :16:51. | :16:55.
now. But 96 children did travel all over the past year to England. We | :16:56. | :17:01.
were told last year that there was this working relationship between | :17:02. | :17:03.
yourselves and your counterparts in the north. That didn't really | :17:04. | :17:10.
happen. Why not? To provide a safe and professional service, we have to | :17:11. | :17:14.
restrict the numbers. This is a process that is yet to be decided | :17:15. | :17:19.
on. Once it is, we will begin to put all our ducks in a row. We would be | :17:20. | :17:23.
perfectly confident that we could have the infrastructure in place to | :17:24. | :17:28.
provide an excellent service for infants and children, not just in | :17:29. | :17:30.
Northern Ireland but throughout the country. Could there be a scenario | :17:31. | :17:35.
where there are two separate waiting lists, one for Northern Ireland and | :17:36. | :17:43.
one for the Republic of Ireland? No, there wouldn't be a separate waiting | :17:44. | :17:47.
list. It is decided on medical grounds. Our hope is that there will | :17:48. | :17:51.
be sufficient facilities put in place so there will be no waiting | :17:52. | :17:56.
list, regardless of where you come from. What would your advice be to | :17:57. | :18:03.
ministers about how quickly they should prioritise this? I think they | :18:04. | :18:09.
need to, we all need to, but in particular, they need to look at the | :18:10. | :18:15.
reviews, the outcome of the review, and act on it. How quickly? I think | :18:16. | :18:20.
it needs to be done straight away, as quickly as possible. Even if they | :18:21. | :18:26.
can go ahead with that, we need to get the services in place, and that | :18:27. | :18:30.
could take a year or 18 months. The longer they delay the decision, the | :18:31. | :18:38.
longer it will be. Cocaine with an estimated street value of several | :18:39. | :18:45.
million was found off the coast. Two men have been detained who were on | :18:46. | :18:49.
the yacht. It is believed to be one of the biggest drug seizures at sea | :18:50. | :18:53.
in Europe this year. The folk musician Francis McPeake, | :18:54. | :18:58.
who's on trial accused of sexual activity with | :18:59. | :19:00.
a 15-year-old girl in 2009, has told the jury how a trip to Bangor | :19:01. | :19:02.
with the girl was a big mistake. The 72-year-old, who denies all the | :19:03. | :19:06.
charges, has been giving evidence for a second day a Belfast Crown | :19:07. | :19:09.
Court, as Helen Jones reports. The court heard | :19:10. | :19:12.
about a confrontation Mr McPeake, seen here with his wife, | :19:13. | :19:14.
had had with the alleged victim's She said she had heard | :19:15. | :19:17.
a rumour that the accused was seen He was told not to have any | :19:18. | :19:22.
more contact with the girl. The court was told four months | :19:23. | :19:27.
after Mr McPeake had been left in no doubt that there was to be no | :19:28. | :19:30.
more contact, he brought the then 15-year-old | :19:31. | :19:33.
and one of her friends to Bangor. You went back on your word, | :19:34. | :19:37.
the prosecution told him. Did you try to walk away, | :19:38. | :19:39.
get off side? She led me to believe she'd got | :19:40. | :19:42.
everything sorted out, he said. The prosecution put it to him | :19:43. | :19:53.
that he didn?t have to take her. It was a big mistake on my behalf, | :19:54. | :19:57.
he replied. They met up again in 2012 outside | :19:58. | :20:01.
a Belfast city centre bar. He said they had | :20:02. | :20:05.
a pleasant conversation. The prosecution said she'd been | :20:06. | :20:08.
upset and had told him It's claimed he told her she | :20:09. | :20:12.
had wrecked his life because he That's a lie, a total lie, | :20:13. | :20:17.
he told the jury. The court heard that she threatened | :20:18. | :20:33.
to go to his wife. Would you not have walked away? He was asked. She | :20:34. | :20:40.
was contemplating suicide. She had become fixated with you. I have done | :20:41. | :20:42.
nothing wrong, he replied. The prosecution and defence will | :20:43. | :20:44.
start summing up tomorrow morning. Helen Jones, BBC Newsline, | :20:45. | :20:48.
Belfast Crown Court. Work is underway to flatten | :20:49. | :20:50.
a site on the Shankill Road in Belfast which was once home to | :20:51. | :20:53.
hundreds of people. But it's now emerged that there are | :20:54. | :20:55.
no plans to redevelop the area. Some new replacement homes have been | :20:56. | :20:59.
built, but it's not known what will replace the remaining houses | :21:00. | :21:02.
as Kevin Sharkey reports. Long after the people left their | :21:03. | :21:17.
homes, the houses are coming down. A number of years have passed us in | :21:18. | :21:21.
this community was broken up. Hundreds of neighbours moved. In | :21:22. | :21:27.
recent years, no families here, no homes, just vacant and boarded up | :21:28. | :21:31.
houses. Up and down the streets, emptiness and neglect. Few signs of | :21:32. | :21:43.
people living here. No homes here to pass to the next generation. It was | :21:44. | :21:48.
a wonderful community and is sad to see it go and they couldn't get | :21:49. | :21:51.
these houses out quick enough six years there there, I found my sister | :21:52. | :22:01.
there six years ago last January, dead. It was the stress of having to | :22:02. | :22:06.
move. They couldn't get them out of the house quick enough. And they are | :22:07. | :22:11.
there. As these houses come apart brick by brick, the attention turns | :22:12. | :22:14.
to future generations around here, what lies on the other side of this | :22:15. | :22:21.
dereliction. For years, these houses have been homes to hundreds of | :22:22. | :22:26.
families around here, part of the wider Shankill Road community. Well, | :22:27. | :22:32.
what will take their place now? At the moment, there is no plan. The | :22:33. | :22:40.
housing executive says that this area were are ready to mullet. The | :22:41. | :22:46.
housing initiative says there are no development plans as of yet. -- | :22:47. | :22:54.
demolished. This is causing anger. We have been waiting years for these | :22:55. | :22:58.
houses to come down. Were happy to see them come down now, but we're | :22:59. | :23:01.
going to be left with derelict houses. It has been reduced to | :23:02. | :23:07.
rubble. It is a reminder of the people who used to live here. | :23:08. | :23:14.
A charity set up in memory of football legend George Best is to | :23:15. | :23:17.
Last year, most of its board of directors | :23:18. | :23:21.
Our business correspondent Julian O'Neill has the story. | :23:22. | :23:24.
A foundation was set up in the footballer's memory | :23:25. | :23:26.
It was the idea of his sister, who was helped by her husband. | :23:27. | :23:33.
Now, after eight years, the charity is to fold and paperwork | :23:34. | :23:36.
confirming the decision has just been filed at Companies House. | :23:37. | :23:42.
In a statement, his sister Barbara McNarry said: | :23:43. | :23:58.
There have been questions about the charity's future ever | :23:59. | :24:00.
since the resignations of four of its six directors last year. | :24:01. | :24:05.
It came at a time when the running of | :24:06. | :24:08.
the organisation was being reviewed by a firm of chartered accountants. | :24:09. | :24:12.
In the statement, the Foundation said during its eight | :24:13. | :24:14.
years, it had given away ?280,000 to good causes in sport and health. | :24:15. | :24:21.
It made no reference to what might happen to existing funds which, | :24:22. | :24:25.
according to the last accounts it filed for 2012, | :24:26. | :24:29.
But discussions are believed to have taken place with another local | :24:30. | :24:38.
charity about the possibility of taking money as a donation. | :24:39. | :24:42.
Context is everything and as the countdown to the Ryder Cup | :24:43. | :24:52.
continues the Americans have taken a good natured swipe at European team | :24:53. | :24:55.
work, poking fun in particular at Rory Mcilroy and Graeme McDowell. | :24:56. | :24:58.
From Gleneagles, Stephen Watson reports. | :24:59. | :25:07.
today, the gloves came off here at the Ryder Cup. One player said the | :25:08. | :25:15.
European team's spirit may be dampened because of the case between | :25:16. | :25:26.
worry McElroy. -- Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell. We play well | :25:27. | :25:37.
together. One other player was speaking more positively today. He | :25:38. | :25:42.
said he would like to play in next year Ireland's open. I'm try to work | :25:43. | :25:51.
that part of my schedule. It is my favourite course in the world. It is | :25:52. | :25:56.
due to the 2007 cup. It is a special place that I would love to go back | :25:57. | :25:59.
and have a chance to play there next year. Rory McIlroy and another | :26:00. | :26:06.
player were thrilled when Alex Ferguson came last night. He gave a | :26:07. | :26:12.
motivational speech. But he was not the only surprise sportsman to show | :26:13. | :26:20.
up. A trio of Ulster rugby players arrive to especially see the world | :26:21. | :26:23.
number one. They were still buzzing after last night's chat with Alex | :26:24. | :26:30.
Ferguson. It was amazing. Just talking about the players and how he | :26:31. | :26:35.
managed them. It was like to have them come over and watch. It was | :26:36. | :26:41.
good to see them out there. He's been out a few games to support us | :26:42. | :26:46.
so it is nice to see him here. Obviously, with Graeme McDowell | :26:47. | :26:48.
being involved as well, maybe they can bring home the writer cup. -- | :26:49. | :26:55.
Ryder Cup. And there was one more visitor. It is so busy. We started | :26:56. | :27:05.
off at four in the morning. The retired rugby cup captain. Rory was | :27:06. | :27:09.
delighted to hear he would consider coming back to coach Ulster in the | :27:10. | :27:16.
future. I've been trying to get involved in rugby and I would never | :27:17. | :27:21.
say never, but at this stage in my life, I am where I want to be. -- | :27:22. | :27:25.
they have been trying to get me involved. My four years at Ulster | :27:26. | :27:32.
was the best time of my rugby career. If I ever get back involved | :27:33. | :27:36.
in rugby again, it is possibly the first place I will look to. Another | :27:37. | :27:42.
rugby championship is not involved here, but he has received a bid to | :27:43. | :27:50.
become the next Ryder Cup championship. -- another golf | :27:51. | :27:59.
champion. I don't think there is any better candidate from the European | :28:00. | :28:03.
side. He is loved. He would be just as well received in the US is | :28:04. | :28:08.
probably the US captain will be, so it can only become an advantage for | :28:09. | :28:12.
the working team if Darren was to lead us out in the states. You can | :28:13. | :28:18.
see our three major champions tonight. | :28:19. | :28:21.
The sun was shining, can we expect that to continue? | :28:22. | :28:32.
It will change, unfortunately. We have seen some mild air, but it will | :28:33. | :28:39.
go. It was a pleasant day for many of us, some cloud coming and going, | :28:40. | :28:47.
but some sunny spells. This was the seams here earlier today, | :28:48. | :28:53.
beautiful. We will see some rainy spells, they will be towards the | :28:54. | :28:58.
west. As it will continue to do so through the course of the night, it | :28:59. | :29:06.
will bring in murky conditions. Spells of rain and drizzle, most of | :29:07. | :29:09.
us will get parts of that, but mostly in the west and north. That | :29:10. | :29:14.
breeze swings around from the Southwest picks up a little bit. The | :29:15. | :29:20.
temperatures will hold up, hopefully staying in double figures. As we | :29:21. | :29:24.
head into tomorrow, we are looking at a cloudier day, a breezier day, | :29:25. | :29:28.
and it looks as though it will be a bit of a dismal start first thing. | :29:29. | :29:34.
And lots of low cloud, some rain and drizzle to move through. It won't | :29:35. | :29:39.
die away completely everywhere. If you are in the West, there will be a | :29:40. | :29:43.
risk that you will get patches of rain and drizzle throughout the day. | :29:44. | :29:48.
The breeze may carry some along the north coast, as well. In the East, | :29:49. | :29:53.
the breeze will bring one or two spots, but it will remain drier. The | :29:54. | :29:57.
temperatures will remain good tomorrow. Above average, 17 to 18 | :29:58. | :30:03.
Celsius. We may even see 19 or 20. Into tomorrow evening, still breezy | :30:04. | :30:11.
mamma mainly dried. I never weather front will move through. Another | :30:12. | :30:14.
band of rainbow push through, keeping things mild. -- and other | :30:15. | :30:23.
band of rain. At or cloud on Saturday, a few showers on Sunday. | :30:24. | :30:27.
A reminder of our top story. The First Minister has issued a | :30:28. | :30:33.
statement denying that he is standing down. His former Health | :30:34. | :30:37.
Minister claimed this morning that it was public knowledge that he | :30:38. | :30:40.
would be gone before the next Assembly elections. Since then, Mr | :30:41. | :30:50.
-- Mr Poots has said he was mistaken. | :30:51. | :30:50.
