The father of a 20-year-old who lost his life competing

at the North West 200 has paid a moving tribute to his son,

Malachi Mitchell Thomas, who was from Chorley in England,

died after crashing in the Supertwins race yesterday.

His father now plans to scatter his ashes

He was one of the brightest prospects in road racing. This week

will was seen as the next major step in his career. However the sport has

again been marred by tragedy. It is let the father devastated. I've lost

my best friend. Lost my son. He died doing what he wanted to do. He lived

for riding, you racing to six years old, he taken to the roads, crowds

are taken to him, he was a fantastic personality. Not a bad bone in his

body and no one has a bad word to say about him. I want to thank the

paramedics for trying to save him at the roadside. I want to thank the

organisers for going on a fantastic event. The information that came out

the way they helped me and when things and wrong, it was a great

event and it's sad and by his loss. I will go to the TT and I was

scatter his ashes on the course. It's what he wanted me to do. My boy

died at 20 but he made a massive impact on peoples lives. Ever that

met him, they all knew where he was. When you see a kid like that, long

curly hair, picture of life, picture of happiness, just got the break

that he so desperately needed from John Burroughs. And see, the world

at his feet in terms of road racing. Is the brightest I have seen the

sport for five years. And I had him in mark for the very top. He would

have been an obsolete legend had he stayed so. -- absolute legend.
