The police are investigating a possible link between yesterday's

murder in Bangor and the loyalist feud in Carrickfergus.

Colin Horner was shot in front of his three-year-old son

in a supermarket car park yesterday afternoon.

Two months on, Colin Horner could be the latest victim

The 35-year-old was gunned down in this Sainsbury's

car park which was busy with shoppers yesterday afternoon.

Flowers have been left close to the spot he was killed.

Police say a possible link to the loyalist feud

in Carrickfergus is one line of inquiry.

There were at least three shots fired, we know that.

It was a completely reckless act in a public car park

His three-year-old son was in the caar and was immediately

beside his car when he was shot dead in front of him.

Detectives want to trace the movements of Mr Horner's black

Nissan Pulsar between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on Sunday.

There's another vehicle we are interested in that was seen

leaving the Balloo Link area immediately after the shooting,

immediately adjacent to the car park, a red Ford Mondeo this car

G7z 7996 but we know they were false plates on this vehicle.

Police believe the gunman's vehicle was brought here

to Kerr's Road before it was set alight.

Police are here today, conducting an operation.

We also know that the gun man and probably at least one other

associate must have then go away from Kerrs Road so there's probably

another vehicle here so my appeal to the public is if anyone saw

of the vehicle being burnt out or waiting in the area

It's understood police will maintain a presence in the Bangor area

A light aircraft has crashed in Co Down.

Police say it came down around Castlewellan Forest Park and

two people have been treated at the scene for injuries

which are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 40-year-old man is still being questioned by police

about the murder of Michael and Marjorie Cawdery

The couple's Church Minister has paid tribute to them.

Marjorie and Michael Cawdery were both aged 83. They were parents and

grandparents. They left on the outskirts of Portadown. On Friday

afternoon they were found dead by relatives. An intruder had broken

into their home. It's believed the elderly couple were stabbed.

Absolutely shocked. People are very frightened. There are a lot of

elderly people in the area and obviously they are very frightened.

People have never experienced anything like that round here so it

was a massive shock. The elderly couple were well-known

and well liked. The family are absolutely

devastated, which is understandable. Marjorie and Michael were both quiet

and reserved people. They were not into the public end of things. The

rest of the family will be similar to that. For them it is just trying

to do with this horrific act that has taken place.

Three days later, the police investigation is continuing. The

house is still sealed off. A 40-year-old man was arrested on

Friday afternoon. He is still being questioned. Extra police patrols

were in the area all weekend. The family of the elderly couple

released a statement in which they describe what happened on Friday

afternoon as incomprehensible. They thanked everyone who had offered

sympathy and support. A man's appeared in court charged

with attempted murder in Antrim Belfast Magistrates' Court was told

that a man was stabbed five times, including in the chest,

during a house party 27-year-old Paul Catherwood,

from Mourne View Park in Lisburn, is accused of attempted murder

and with slashing at two women. British Airways flights

from around the world head to live on Rathlin Island -

home to our biggest sea bird colony. Our north east reporter Sara Girvin

went to the windswept island to see some of the visitors -

human and feathered. For most of the year, fewer than 150

people live on Rathlin Island. But every spring and summer the

population explodes as tens of thousands of sea birds, sure to

nest. The spectacle will attract 20,000 visitors this year alone.

That means the RSPB need extra help. Volunteers come to the island for

different reasons but they come from all over the world.

been bird-watching but usually I would be the last one on a walk, I

would be at the back. Rathlin Island is famous for its

puffins but many other breeds can be competing for space.

and then in ten weeks they will all be gone.
