Tributes have been paid to the former Bishop of Derry,

Dr Edward Daly, who's died at the age of 82.

He was well known for his role in helping the victims

Born in 1933, Edward Daly grew up in Fermanagh, and in 1974

He was never afraid to speak out against violence and injustice

He banned paramilitary trappings at funerals,

and said at one stage the IRA was involved

He also urged Martin McGuinness to use his influence with the IRA

alongside his Church of Ireland counterpart Bishop James Mehaffey -

both were awarded the Freedom of the City in 2015.

He retired as Bishop in 1993 after suffering a stroke,

but continued the fight for a full inquiry into Bloody Sunday.

He welcomed the innocence of the victims being

declared at the publication of the Saville report in 2010.

person, particularly to our family, because of what he did
